Fetlife is the most reliable and consistent online community I've found. I'd recommend talking to close friends and seeing if anyone you trust already has a foot in the door, or finding a local group gathering and speaking to the organizer about dropping in to test the waters or to find upcoming classes.

Large groups are usually safest, especially if they keep an established list of "Not Welcome" folks (showing that they're invested in safety and consent and willing to self-govern on what is and is not acceptable).

Munches, outings, and small parties are good places to start off getting to know people without diving head first into the deep end, and there should be no unspoken expectation of nudity, touching, or sexual activity.

I personally don't like sex or being touched by people, and what I know is mostly from work, but I've received a lot of great advice and have never been made to feel freakish or unwelcome.

Really, just a lot of super kind and welcoming folks.

All said, though, I'm a relative newbie- community elders are welcomed and encouraged to add on.
