Exhuma review

Alright so when I first heard about the movie, I actually had no idea what its about. All I know was that this is a horror movie. I watched one version of the trailer but not paying much attention to the details so I almost had zero expectation of what it was about.

I have to say that I like the movie, a lot (from someone who barely watch horror). The beginning of the movie is already interested. And more and more interesting to know and see a new culture about shaman and ritual.

I am not a huge fans of korean drama like I used to, and I didn't know the actors (I mean I have heard but never watched their works before) except for Yoo Hai Jin, who plays in Luck-Key. And I want to say that Kim Go Eun had me all over her. She played her character, named Hwa Rim, and totally pulled it off. She is really really cool. I can see why she is such a an amazing actor. But don't get me wrong, of course the rest of them did a good job as well.

For the story, it did not come as horror like all about the ghost and stuff but there are more story to it. There is, of course, jumpscare moment, moment that I had to cover my eyes bit and then mind-blowing scene, which is the scene that changed everything in the whole movie. From the sound, the angle, everything, they really wrapped the movie very nicely and I'm satisfied with it.

But unfortunately, I have to say, I feel like they missing some details in the movie. Some details about backstory and more explanations about what, why and how. That is how I feel in my perspective. Another details that they missed is that when they switch from one story to another, they really left out details and expect us to just continue focus with the new story instead.

For some details that missing, I also feel like maybe its because we do not know about history or their culture. So to understand it, we need to acknowledge what is it about first.

However, I still like it as it is!! If you have not watch, I really recommend you to watch this amazing movie. ^^

I started watching K-Drama when I was still in high school. But I was so picky that I only got to watch those that tickled my fancy. On average, only 1-2 dramas every 2 years.

When I saw the promo materials for “The King: Eternal Monarch”, straight away I got myself a Netflix subscription. The move was out-of-character and even seemed impulsive, but it was worth every penny. I got hooked and impatiently waited for every episode’s release. I saw myself wide awake in the wee hours just to get first dibs on the freshest episode, what with the slight time difference from where I am. Thinking about the episodes I watched and rewatched made me giddy; elated and excited all at the same time. I thought the drama was brilliantly written; the characters, endearing; the plot at significant turning points, clinching; the twists balanced with enough suspense; the sporadic brain-racking required at almost every episode, a good exercise for the brain.

I loved the acting, especially from Do-hwan; he played 4 different roles seamlessly well -- Eun-seob, Young, Young as Eun-seob, and Eun-seob as Young. I found Min-ho and Go-eun had the cutest chemistry, and even shipped and rooted for them in real life. For some reason, they just left me wanting to see more of them, as if the episodes weren’t enough. The ending was a bit of a cliff-hanger; I wanted a closure, but instead a door was left open for fans (me included) to creatively speculate or mentally write our own version of what will happen next. It seemed not enough because people normally expect an “ending”.

And now I know this might sound weird, but when a lot of people thought The King was too meh, I thought it was perfect. I loved every bit of it, I did!

This post being the first of yet again another hand at blogging, I thought it was just appropriate for me to share this little nugget of my fondness for the drama.

I started blogging some time in 2004 when I was just a freshman, away from home without much friends to spend the weekends with. At that time, I thought I��d give Blogger.com a try since I was already into writing. It worked out, eventually keeping the blog up until I passed my licensure exam. Fresh from uni and with my professional license in tow, I eventually decided to take down my blog (RIP, whowillrockmyworld.blogspot.com) to focus on graduate and post-grad studies.

Fast forward to a few months after I landed my first job, I felt that it was time to start anew and so iconmaico.wordpress.com was born. Unfortunately in 2013, I had an accident that necessitated quite some time for recovery. At the time, my family thought it was best for me to “temporarily” relocate back to my hometown for the much-needed recuperation. That, and adjusting to a new life, I soon failed to access my Wordpress account on a regular basis until I completely forgot the blog even existed.

In the years that followed, blogging came to mind every once in a while. But it was only until a few hours ago that I took time to search for platforms where I can stage a comeback. The search led me to rediscover my Wordpress blog; but alas, I could not, for the life of me, gain any access.

So here I am once again, a tad rusty, but reviving a past time I held, and surprisingly still hold, close to my heart. Welcoming myself to the blogosphere, and hoping that this time I get to write more (and more often), here’s a little “Cheers!” to you who may have stumbled upon my space.
