hi friend!!!! i don’t buy from a lot of goth-specific brands--i have a bunch of Tripp pieces (mostly bought when i worked at HT) & a pair of Demonias, i REALLY want a pair of black JNCOs cuz they’re making those again (HHHHHH), but other than that, base-piece wise, i get 90% of my shit from like. Forever 21, H&M, Target, Walmart, the fkn TRACTOR SUPPLY STORE, etc. as far as base pieces go, just find something black & wear it.

everything else i have is band merch (either from official avenues or secondhand/ebay/depop or these modern reprints of vintage designs that are popping up on instagram [boothammer, killercereal, state of misery, godmoney clothing, etc]) or horror merch, weird stuff i’ve thrifted, tattoo artist merch (find an artist you like! see if they have a bigcartel/etsy!) & interesting things I’ve found on my travels.

all my tights basically come from the halloween store, except fishnets which i buy in multipacks on amazon (i know, i’m sorry). most of my classic mallgoth jewelry is from Spencer’s!!

also what i’ve been finding is if you’re into more the mallgoth/nu rat style (which, if you’re asking ME for MY advice, you probably are cuz if you were into like. fantasy or victorian or gothabilly or whatever you’d be asking someone else), the key word is RAVER. that’s where the PVC, black-with-contrast-stitching, single color accents on black, fishnet, stack boots, OTT jewelry, everything lives.

but seriously, looking at non-specialty retailers for your everyday basics (pants, skirts, shorts, plain hoodies, low heel/combat boots etc) and then adding the spicy accents is the way to go. it’s stupid to pay $50+ for a pair of basic pants from a specialty goth shop cuz it’s a specialty store when you could get the same on clearance at a big box for $8. save money on your basics so you can splurge on the cool stuff.
