hiii! this is absolutely self-indulgent bc i’m in some serious pain rn but could you do hcs/mini hcs of iwa, daichi, kags, and ushijima taking care of you on your period/how they help you with period pains? tyy ur the bestest <3
Tumblr media
HOW THEY TAKE CARE OF YOU ON YOUR PERIOD
Tumblr media
characters: daichi + iwaizumi + kageyama + ushijima + (gn!reader)
notes: this is like a couple weeks later but i hope you see this! for next time lol <3
Tumblr media
★ daichi definitely tracks your period too, he has an app on his phone and everything, just so he can always have your favorite snacks and foods stocked up. has a heating pad for you, along with pills even if you don't wanna take them. helps you do some stretching to help with cramps (he's researched a lot, okay?). also has everything you'd ever need in his bathroom (ever since you started dating).
Tumblr media
★ iwaizumi has your period in his calendar so he knows when to expect your mood swings lmaoo. they almost started a bad fight once before he realized what was going on, so he just wants to prevent that from happening again. makes sure you have healthy, balanced meals even when you're feeling like dying, but also gets your favorite snacks when you ask. will go on a midnight snack run for you. gives you massages and spoils you the whole time.
Tumblr media
★ kageyama is kinda lost at first, but once you explain it to him he's very good to you. first time you ask him to get you pads/tampons, he shows up with like five different boxes/packs cause he wasn't sure which one was better. orders your favorite food and cuddles you. still doesn't really know how to handle your mood swings so sometimes he just awkwardly sits there, waiting until you get cuddly again (cause that's a pattern he's noticed).
Tumblr media
★ ushijima makes sure you drink a lot of water, literally always has a bottle on him somehow. tries to get you to exercise to help with the cramps but when you basically threaten to kill him he just blinks and drops it. puts his hand over where you're hurting for comfort and somehow that actually does help. always asks how you're feeling and what you want so he can get it/do it for you. he's not a mind reader but he'll help if you tell him how. gets you flowers every month though.

hello! i dunno if you were accepting fanfic recs asks but - might you have any fanfic recs about chat noir angst with the rest of the superhero team?
Yeah sure! I'm not entirely sure what you mean about having the rest of the superhero team, but I'm assuming it involves them having at least some sort of role in the story? Anyway I'll do the best I can.

Dr. Walker & Kitty Hyde series by @pearl484-blog
Summary of the first fic, Rain Falls, Everybody Lies:
Chat Noir loves the rain. He loves the danger. He loves the excitement, and he especially loves how much Catwalker hates it.
Jekyll and Hyde AU
Adrien AUGreste Entry 3: Rain
So like the summary says, and the title indicates, this series is inspired by the popular conception of Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde - not how the book actually goes, but how it’s portrayed in popular media, with Jekyll splitting himself in two, with a “good” side and a “bad” side.
During Kuro Neko, instead of just changing his appearance through changing his mindset, Adrien took more extreme measures, sealing off his “undesirable” characteristics, his anger and sadness and all his sharp edges, into the ring so he could assume a more placid, genial persona that’d be more accepted - Cat Walker.
But Chat Noir’s still there, taking over whenever Adrien gets too testy, and desperately trying not to be pressed out of existence entirely. With embodying Adrien’s sealed anger and snappishness and rebelliousness, he’s not too kind to the other heroes - he already felt looked down upon and ignored before this, and seeing them accept Cat Walker while he’s fighting for his life doesn’t endear them to him either.
The series isn’t unfair to them - this isn’t a case where one party is entirely in the wrong and another’s entirely in the right. Marinette, Zoe, Nino, and all the others - they did wonder about what was going on with Chat, but he wasn’t in a position where he could see it, and he did have legitimate questions about how much Ladybug would budge on things, if he’d told her what he was going through. It’s a series that emphasizes characters hurting and lashing out in some terrible ways, but that hurt still being respected, and working things out, trying to get everything to a better place.

drowning (in plain sight) by @buggachat
Everybody had expected Monarch's defeat to be a moment of triumph. Nobody had expected Gabriel Agreste, unmasked and mind frayed from continual abuse of the miraculous, crying out to all who would listen and making Paris certain of one thing:
His son, Adrien Agreste, is one of his sentimonsters.
And now he's missing.
Nobody can find him— not even the superheroes, and not even his closest friends. But Marinette, Nino, and Alya aren't ones to give up so easily. They'll find him, no matter what it takes.
(But, geez, would it kill Chat Noir to lend a hand?)
I’m sure everyone saw this one coming. If there’s one thing buggachat’s good at, storywise, it’s capturing raw, tumultuous emotions, frantic breakdowns as the characters desperately try to navigate bad situations. This was a real treat to read, as I’m betting most people reading this will agree, given just how popular the fic has been. It also has a ton of fanart, both by buggachat and by random fans, if you go looking for it (there’s a drowning in plain sight tag which I’d advise perusing).

one does not love breathing by @wackus-bonkus-maximus
All of Paris watched as Hawkmoth murdered Chat Noir, taking the Black Cat Miraculous for himself. Ladybug swears revenge, but her enemy—and every miraculous in his possession—disappear without a trace.
Six years later, a new team of villains launches an attack for the last remaining Miraculous: Volpina, armed with new powers; Queen Bee, with questionable loyalty; Argos, the new holder of the Peacock Miraculous; and Cat Walker, who Ladybug hates the most.
Takes place after S4 - Strike Back.
This is a simply phenomenal fic. You get to explore a lot of different perspectives, like Felix, Kagami, Marinette, and Adrien’s, just to name a few, and see their different thought processes and plans and priorities, and how it can cause their plans to collide with each other, even when they all ultimately are aiming for a good outcome for everyone. The characters are pretty complex and can mess up at times, even when they’re doing things (or not doing things, looking at you Luka) with the best of intentions. It was a joy to read and a real nail-biter the whole time, I actually wrote a fic for it halfway through just to resolve some of the tension for myself, One Does Not Love Shadows.
It also features the version of Luka I’ve connected best with to date, as he feels like Luka, but also is a lot more fleshed out, and can make some major errors while simply trying to avoid missteps. It’s helped me get a better handle on a character who I’ve generally had a lot of problems with really understanding.
It is an M-rated fic, though I think Wackus is being overly cautious on that front. There’s no sexual content and I wouldn’t put the violence or gore above a T-rating, so I wouldn’t let the rating scare you off.

Chat Walker’s Trial by @pearl484-blog
Instead of Catwalker showing up to serve as her new Chat Noir, Ladybug is stunned to find that Chat Noir has returned to her, having “improved” himself by repressing his emotions, memories, and willfulness. Deciding that this will not stand, she organizes her teammates to convince Chat Noir that giving those traits up and becoming the perfect partner was not the right move, but how can she argue against perfection?
Adrien Augreste 2022 entry for the day 23-24 prompt: Swap
This is a really intriguing fic. Instead of becoming Cat Walker in Kuro Neko, Adrien instead runs across a mage who helpfully provides some spells to make him into the “perfect” partner for Ladybug, magically suppressing his emotions and urge to rebel, as well as his memories of being Chat Noir, in order to make sure he doesn’t love her anymore. Ladybug, naturally, is distraught about this, but since Chat did all of this of his own free will, she needs to actually persuade him it was a bad move, which isn’t as easy as it sounds. It’s exquisitely painful at times with the amount of self-hatred Chat has for his previous self, and how the Miracuteam is divided on how bad these changes actually are, since he does seem more focused now - though the holdouts are a lot less on board when they think of someone who’s closer to them going through this process.

I hope that these scratch your itch!

Attention everyone 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻
That means you YN-
I think I speak for all of us when I ask 👀
Are you doing ok? Like seriously
YN I love you but you do realize what you are getting yourself into right?
What being the manager for Karasuno wasn't enough of a challenge 😅
Seriously you absolutely angel, thank you for taking this on so yours truly could write it
Everyone remembers the scene where Tanaka first saw Kiyoko right?
👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
Tumblr media
That's the energy you gave the first day our precious bbys laid their eyes on you 😍
Seriously being all adorable and you think they wouldn't notice 🙄
Anyways, it's safe to say Hinata and Kags immediately stopped fighting
Tsukishima, for once, had absolutely nothing to say
And Yamaguchi, well he just stared 😳
Now these boys didn't act like a complete fool like Tanaka ok
Honestly they are fools everyday so no need to step their game up 🤚🏻
Anyways, you run into the gym to greet everyone and you smile as you see the precious first years 🥺
How freaking CUTE ARE THEY!!!
Tanaka and Noya instantly notice the first years staring at you
Defensive IMMEDIATELY
"Hey 🙅 stop looking at our precious YN!"- Tanaka, blocking their view
"Our YN is to gorgeous for the eyes of commoners"- Noya
Please smack them 🤚🏻
Oop- Ennoshita beat you to it YN gotta be faster 😅
"Noya, Tanaka knock it off!!! Hi there I'm YN, I'm the second year manager! It's really nice to meet you"- you 🤗
Hinata 👉🏻😲
Tsukishima 👉🏻😶
Yamaguchi 👉🏻😰
Kageyama 👉🏻 "HI IM TOBIO KAGEYAMA AND YOU ARE SO PRETTY"
🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
Please we all saw how blunt he was with Ushijima, would you expect anything less
"Leave YN alone Crappy-Yama! Like she'd ever want to associate with a tyrant like you!"- Hinata
"You wanna say that to my face! Oh wait, your too short"- Kageyama
"Like she'd ever want to deal with the likes of two idiots"- Tsukishima
Please Yams is still just staring at you
"You guys are cute"- you say giggling and skipping away
Honestly YN say less 🤚🏻
After your introduction to the boys, it essentially becomes a game of "who can grab YN's attention more"
"YN come watch me get this receive"- Hinata readying himself
"Why would YN want to watch you get hit in the face again?"- Tsukishima 🤨
"Hey YN can you help me with my serves?"- Yamaguchi
"No YN is helping me with my sets!"- Kags shouts
"YN seriously get a handle on things now!"- Daichi
You 👉🏻 🧍‍♀️ 😐
Eventually you get into a rhythm with the boys, who Daichi put you in charge of
You help Kags with his sets, Tsukishima with blocking, Yamaguchi with serving and Hinata with literally everything 😅
It's no wonder that you start to develop feelings for each on of them
You start hanging out with them together and seperate
You'd walk home with Hinata and Kags every night
Trying to keep them from killing each other 😅
Success rate ~75%
You'd have lunch with Tsukishima and Yamaguchi everyday
Not to mention your random trips to the vending machine wirh Kageyama
Your trips to Grandpa Ukai's with Hinata
And your support for Tsukishima with the third gym squad
Seriously, Kiyoko and Yachi had it easy compared to you YN 😅
But no matter what, you couldn't help but care for them all
You knew they all liked you, I mean seriously YN they aren't quiet about it
"YN I LIKE YOU ALOT"- Kageyama
"YN you are so special to me"- Yamaguchi
"YN your the best! I care about you so much!"- Hinata
"You're tolerable YN"- Tsukishima
And you had feeling for all of them
But 👀 there was just no way you could choose
Seriously I don't blame you at all 🥲
You've developed a close relationship with each one and even together
So one day, when your mopping about, Noya and Tanaka come to check on you
"YN HAS SOMEONE HURT YOU?"- Tanaka, panicking
"Was it that annoying guy from Johzenji? I'll kick his-" Noya.
"No no, I'm fine guys just conflicted"- You, sighing
"Run the meaning of conflicted by me again YN"- Tanaka
You 👉🏻😐😐😐
"She's confused! Right YN"- Noya
You 👉🏻😐 yep
"See and Ennoshita says I wasn't smart"- Noya
"I never said that. I said 'if youd use your brain in school as much as you do on the court you wouldnt have issues'"- Ennoshita says walking by
"Same thing"- Noya
N E WAYS
"So what are you so congested about YN?"- Tanaka
"Conflicted... conflicted!"- Noya
You 👉🏻 🤨how did these two make it to high school?
"So I have some guy issues..."
Triggering words YN 😬
"Boy? As in males?"- Tanaka
You👉🏻yes
"Issues? As in more than one?"- Noya
You 👉🏻 yes 😶
Tanaka and Noya just sare at you for a second, then it happens
"YN LIKES BOYS!!"- Tanaka 😱😱😱
"THIS DAY CAME WAY TO SOON"- Noya 😭
Please Ennoshita, Kinoshita and Narita just stare 😐
"THEY GROW UP SO FAST!"- Tanaka, seriously crying an entire river
"IS SHE EVEN OLD ENOUGH TO HAVE BOY PROBLEMS?"- Noya
"Well she's the same age as you idiots so yes"- Narita
"Can I tell you guys or am I just going to have to deal with this myself??"- You, angry bby
Ennoshita clamps his hands over Tanaka and Noya's mouths
"Proceed YN"- Kinoshita
"So I like these guys, and I know they like me..."
Go on 👀
"But how do I choose? I like them all but in different ways! And I can't see being with one and not the others!"- you, dramatically collapsing on the table
"Have you told them this YN?"- Narita
Ennoshita is still holding Tanaka and Noyas mouths closed 🤚🏻
Out here doing God's work istg-
"I mean, how do you tell 4 guys you like them all and that you can't just date one of them??"- you, panicking at the disco
"Just be honest YN, that's all you can do. And if they don't like you, then they don't deserve you"- Ennoshita
You sigh as you resign yourself to the fate of coming clean
You decide to do it on your walk home with the boys
Once a week you walk home with all 4 of them, giving you the perfect opportunity to spill your guts
Once you pass Ukai's store you let it go
You stop, turn to face them and let it all out
"So I like all 4 of you but I can't possibly choose one of you over the other! There is just no way I could do that!"- you
Kags and Hinata 👉🏻😐😐
Tsukishima 👉🏻🤨
Yamaguchi 👉🏻👀
"And I know you guys like me but I can't go out with one of you knowing that I like all 4 of you alot! It just wouldn't be fair"- you 🥲
"Uhh Yn-" Kags
"Shh Tobio I'm not done yet"- you
"YN listen"- Yamaguchi
"Tadashi- just a minute, I need to say this! I care about all of you and just want to be wirh you. But I can't just be with one of you!"- you say sighing and deflated
"YN-" Hinata
"Sho please 🤚🏻 and now that I've said my peace, I'll leave you alone"- you say turning around, tears building ad you prepare to walk away
"YN you're a dumbass"- Tsukishima
You stop 🧍‍♀️ and turn to see all 4 boys looking at you, smiling
"YN we know you like all of us and we all like you"- Kageyama
"Yeah so we've decided instead of fighting for you, we'd all like to date you"- Hinata
"Well to the technical, you and Kageyama already fought may times over YN"- Yamaguchi
"Hey shut it!"- Kageyama
"🙄 YN maybe you should reconsider dating Kageyama and Hinata"- Tsukishima
You 👉🏻🥲 you- you guys really mean that 🥺🥺
"YN we know you can't choose and we'd never make you. It's not fair!"- Hinata
You👉🏻 really 🥺
You run up to each of them and hug them, kissing their cheeks sweetly!
"You guys are the best! I have the cutest boyfriends ever "- you say, standing back from them 🥰
Thus begins your polyship 💁‍♀️
I won't lie YN, it takes some work
Please when Kageyama and Hinata go on their two week friendship hiatus, it's awkward
But you figure out a great schedule that works well for you and you boys
Everyday, you walk to school with with you boys and home
You stop at Ukai's store and help them study
Please they need all the help they can get and Yachi can only do so much 🤚🏻
Heck you all even have an adorable group chat 🥺😍
Which will come in handy 👀
Because our precious YN has been asked to be a manager at the first year training camp with Tsukishima 🙌🏻
Please Tsukki is SO freaking smug 😏
"Why can't YN come with to the Team Japan Youth training?"- Kageyama
"Because she wasn't invited Kageyama"- Suga
"So what? I could smuggle her in!"- Kageyama
"She will be busy enough with me at the training camp"- Tsukishima
"I'm happy for you YN but I'll miss you"- Yamaguchi 🥺
"Oh bby- I'll miss you too"- you say hugging Yams
"What the hell Yn? I'll be in Tokyo! You'll just be at Shiratorizawa!"- Kageyama our jealous boi
"Is someone jealous Tobio?"- you 🙃
"YeAh ToBiO"- Tsukishima 😝
Surprisingly Hinata says nothing
That's odd, that's strange 🤨
And you only figure out why when you enter the first year camp to see Hinata next to Tsukishima
You go through a range of emotions
You👉🏻 😃😐🙁😠
Please you are so mad!
Daichi's lecture is nothing compared to a YN lecture 😅
Plus Tsukishima is MAD
He wanted time with just you but nope
Despite the setback, training camp goes relatively well
Or at least you THINK it does 🙃
Unfortunately you not only are dating 4 dummies BUT they are protective as well
In fact, here's a sneak peek into daily chats with your 4 knuckle heads 🙄
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Please this is the entire camp YN
And when you get back, Kageyama and Yamaguchi partially maul you with hugs, cheek kisses and tons of love 🥰
"YN never leave me again!"- Kageyama
"You left for Tokyo Tobio"- you 😐
"Next time you're coming with me!"- kags
"What makes you think you are going back?"- Hinata 🤨
"I know I am idiot"- Kageyama
"YN next time you can just stay here with me"- Yams
"She was fine with me"- Tsukki
"AND ME"- hinata
"Jesus YN look what you did now"- Daichi
You👉🏻🧍‍♀️ 😐 IM LITERALLY JUST EXISTING
"Too much YN reign it in"- Suga 🙃
Sorry YN, this is your life 🤣

This Dec. 30 marks the 3rd year death anniversary of the 9 Tumandok farmers and indigenous community leaders who were red-tagged and subsequently killed during police raids at alleged NPA hotspots in Iloilo and Capiz.
Meanwhile, [Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) Brig. Gen.] Miranda [said] the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), particularly the Army, was not involved in the operations. He reiterated that these were purely police operations.
But there were unconfirmed reports of government soldiers under the 301st Infantry Brigade (301 IB) participating in the operations.
The Tumandok nga Mangunguma nga Nagapangapin sa Duta kag Kabuhi (TUMANDOK) group alleged that government forces stormed into houses of local IP leaders early morning of Wednesday, and forcibly arrested some occupants.
2020 Dec. 30
Seven of the nine persons who were killed were identified as Roy Giganto, Eliseo Gayas Jr., Mauro Diaz, Arcelito Katipunan, Mario Aguirre, Jomer Vidal, and Dalson Catamin.
Police also arrested [16 -] 17 others.
CIDG-6 claimed that nine were killed for allegedly fighting back and resisting arrest. But this was refuted by the victims’ families, claiming that the nine victims were forcefully dragged from their homes and shot.
“It appears that the services of these warrants were nothing more than an excuse to carry out an operation intended to kill and arrest local leaders that have been actively advocating for the rights and interest of farmers and indigenous peoples,” said the National Union of Peoples’ Lawyers (NUPL) Panay Island Chapter.
2021 Jan. 2
As of December 30, 15 of the 16 who had been arrested through search warrants were released after the said warrants were junked.
However, “the perpetrators of the murders were never bought to justice,” the statement [by Defend Panay Network and the Panay People’s Coalition] said. “The AFP and the PNP continue to terrorize the IP communities with their presence and verbal threats of a repeat of the massacre.”

got too excited thinking about a bokuakakuroken hockey au where Kuroo and Bokuto are a D-man pair, Kenma and Akaashi are left and right wingers to some unspecified third character's center forward, all of them on the first line. I'd make the third character Hinata but I think Hinata and Kags need to be the craziest d-pair ever they need to have the most intricate scary ass bait-and-switch bullshit where they trick other guys into thinking they have the puck and then they smash the fuck out of them.
Anyway Kuroo and Bokuto are SO good at helping the wingers set up plays and Kenma is uncanny at reading where opposing players will go next while Akaashi has stick handling skills for DAYS and knows exactly how to keep up team morale in a quieter way than Bokuto, who crows on and on about how awesome they all are CONSTANTLY. Kuroo is captain and gives dorky ass speeches in the locker room that the other guys always snicker at him for (first guy to laugh has to pay a fine, usually it's Bokuto who is always more than happy to support the team LMAO)
I feel like Tsukki would be a good candidate for goaltender, y'know, blocking and all that. Yamaguchi would be a part of the power kill line, and he usually only goes out when it's a PK, which is unusual, but it makes sense because he's always somehow better when there's fewer guys on his side. Maybe because it makes him fight harder to keep shit away from Tsukki - has more of the burden on his shoulders, less guys to trip over.
Suga is a trainer, the trainer who seems the friendliest but is the scariest to get stuck with when you've got a major injury because he WILL fix you and it WILL hurt. He'll tell you to suck it up and give you a pack of skittles and tell you to get your ass into the ice bath now.
(He is dating Daichi, another center forward on the team, likely on the same line as Asahi and Tanaka's D-pair, Noya's right wing and Ennoshita's left. Asahi is a D-man for humor purposes only. He's like an elephant, huge but skittish.)
Kenma is an easy target on the ice (small, slight, etc.) but people learn DAMN fast not to go after him because Kuroo and Bokuto have a combined record of breaking like, seventeen guy's noses during games. At first they could get away with the high sticking, but it got a bit obvious. I think Bokuto has received an actual fine while Kuroo snickers and is more sly with it.
Akaashi is also not fond of people going after Kenma and he will target guys in a way that humiliates them - goes out of his way to break ankles and dangle shots and pulls out his best moves just to keep those assholes from getting to touch the puck at all, until their coaches pull them off the ice any time he's on it. He finds it far more satisfying, though watching Bokuto full-body slam some douche into the wall is also a nice feeling.
I also feel like Bokuto would make a GREAT goalie, though. HRNGH. There are so many positions I want to put them into, rotate them through the roster etc.e tc. Kenma as a goaltender????? i take the most autistic person and i stick them in the net.
Akaashi would not be a good goaltender, there isn't enough action. I do think he would be a really good center, though - maybe he'd be the center with Kenma as a left wing and someone else as a right.
Tsukki wants to be a d-man but he didn't ever care enough to put actual force into his hits so he slowly got stuck more and more into the goal until he begrudgingly decided it was cool.
im sure i'll have more thoughts later. it is my bedtime.

Hearts are delicate. Breakable. Once they slip through one set of fingers, can they ever find a home in those hands again?
An Inu/Kag ficlet.
“I love you.”
She says it, knowing it’s too late. He’s already set his eyes on someone else, but if she doesn't get the words out, she knows she’ll explode. Saying it once he’s actually involved with someone else just wouldn't be right. Her smile is several watts too bright as his eyes blink rapidly, his brows lowered in confusion.
“But I don't--”
“Love me. I know. I just....had to get it out. Don't worry about it. I know that it’s her. And...I hope it works for you. Really.”
She means it. She truly does. All she’s ever wanted is for him to be happy, even if that happiness is like acid in her lungs, drowning her in fire. She doesn't bother waiting for an answer. She knows he’s staked out this hallway, waiting for Kikyo to make her way to her next class, and just because she’s always been his biggest cheerleader doesn't mean she wants first-row seats to the game. So she steps to the left and allows herself to be swept away in the sea of other students, drowning out the sound of him trying to let her down easy.
Her heart slipped from the clawed hands in which she had placed it, shattering into crystalline fragments as it hit the floor.
“This doesn't mean I love you or anything.”
It’s an almost grudging mumble, and she has to bite back the harsh words that want to shoot from her mouth like bullets in response. It’s been months, he’s dating someone else, and she’s not an idiot.
“I didn't think it did,” she settles on saying, meeting his eyes steadily.
He shifts, still holding the class assignments he brought for her while she was sick with the flu.
“I just....didn't want to give you the wrong idea,” he explains, and there's an almost apologetic note in the tone of his voice.
“I hardly think bearing gifts of extra homework qualifies as a declaration of undying love,” she says dryly, choosing to give him an out.
He snorts a laugh, and the tension leaves his body as he drops into the chair by her desk, launching into everything she’s missed in the Miroku/Sango drama since she’s been out for the week.
“Tryin’ to take her place won't make me love you!”
The words are sharp and meant to cut; the feral snarl on his face makes that clear. The breakup with Kikyo has been bad, and he is still raw and exposed. Steam was still rising from the meat of a fresh kill, and he was looking for something--anything--on which to vent his pain.
Naturally, that would be Kagome. Always soft. Always helpful. Always near. But even as the words leave his mouth, something tells him he has crossed a line. He waits for the tears or, if he is lucky, the angry yelling, and his apprehension grows when neither comes.
Instead, she draws herself up and gazes at him with a coldness that would have had even his brother shivering.
“You don't share my feelings, and that’s fine. But that doesn't mean you get to throw them in my face whenever it suits you,” she says quietly.
The words fell on him like a stoning, each one leaving a bruise in its wake. It washes away his own raging sadness, leaving him feeling small and ashamed.
“I didn't mean--”
“I already knew it without you having to say anything. Just....leave it.”
He looks at her from under his bangs, and for the first time, it occurs to him that Kagome is no stranger to this feeling. He wonders how she manages to keep such a good lid on it and how long it took to learn that kind of control.
He’s afraid of the answer.
Her phone buzzes, sparing them both. She looks at the screen, then arranges her lips into the distant cousin of a smile.
“Sango wants us to go to the movies with them. C’mon, let's go spend a couple of hours watching things blow up. It usually makes me feel better, at least.”
He should probably make a better apology or at least finish their conversation, but instead, he wipes the crusty trail of tears off of his cheeks and snatches up his jacket from where he had tossed it on his bed.
“Fine. I’ll spring for your snacks this time,” he says, knowing that as apologies go, it’s weak and insufficient, but he promises himself that he’ll try to make it up to her later when he isn't feeling like a steaming pile of shit.
“Ya know, if you didn't love me, you'd probably have more of a social life.”
He says it almost like a joke, and he hopes she doesn't hear the note of curiosity in his voice. He knows she’s been asked out on dates. He’s heard guys moan over her in the locker room. Part of him feels guilty that she’s never made an effort to move on. Part of him he bludgeons with a mallet every time it starts to pop up out of its hole.
Kagome takes another delicate nibble of her sandwich, never raising her attention from her book.
“It would probably make it easier for me to get laid, too,” she agrees, her manner distressingly casual.
The shock causes him to pause before his fangs can break the skin of his apple. The concept of Kagome getting laid is foreign. It’s as if he has been dropped in another country where he doesn't speak the language and doesn't know the terrain, but somehow he is expected to navigate it successfully. He examines her out of the corner of his eye, wondering if she realizes that she sounds almost comfortable with the idea of being with someone other than him.
It should come as a relief.
But it doesn't.
“You've always said you didn't love me, so what does it even matter?”
They have been arguing for over an hour. She’s tired, and her nerves are fraying. Why was he acting like this was such a betrayal? Eventually, he would move on from his heartbreak (for someone who could heal physically within the blink of an eye, wounds of the heart had been surprisingly slow to mend), and he wouldn't need her as some sort of living security blanket.
He digs his claw into the tree, the wood soft as butter under the unyielding blades. “We’d all decided on the same college, and you wait until now to say you aren't going?” He snapped, unable to look at her; otherwise, the stinging sensation behind his eyes might make itself known.
“I am going. Just not until next year,” she says with a listless shrug. “My grandparents are paying for this trip, and it’s an opportunity I think I’d regret passing up. Besides, having me around would just cramp your style,” she tries to joke, but she can tell by the way his jaw clenches that her attempt has fallen flat.
“Is it really what you want?” He asks, becoming oddly stoic.
There’s a stretch of silence, as she thinks. For years, she’s been by his side, as constant and unobtrusive as his shadow. The pain of loving him has become a steady weight that she carries like her school backpack. She’s weary. She wants to put it down.
“It’s what I need,” she answers.
“I don't love you anymore.”
She says it with a smile that speaks of relief, a prisoner who has had their sentence revoked.
Inuyasha wants to scream, wants to laugh. He wants to beat the living shit out of someone or tear down trees. He wants to bury his face in his mother’s stomach and sob like a pup. But he doesn't get to do that, does he? He had his chance. No. He had hundreds. In the time she’s been gone, he’s counted them all out, a rosary of sadness worn smooth from use. It shouldn't come as a surprise that it was too late, and yet, for some reason, it had. It was like fate had saved up all of the pain Kagome must have felt from his words and actions over the years and hurtled it back into his stomach.
The smile he gives her is only marginally less shaky than his voice. “Took you long enough,” he laughs.
His heart begs her to realize that something is wrong, to understand and make things better as she always has, in her typical Kagome way.
She doesn't notice.
She’s not really looking at him anymore.
“They look so in love, don't they?”
He has to turn a growl into a cough at those words, and he pretends to check his phone so he doesn't have to watch the couple slowly strolling across campus, their arms wrapped around each other. They do look like they're in love. It was a look he had imagined on Kagome’s face for over a year now, and he was finally seeing it. Just not from the angle he wanted.
Not that he saw it much. He hated being a third or fifth wheel, so he usually made an excuse to duck out of any kind of group activities where she and her boyfriend might be. He had made the mistake of going to a party, and he still wasn't over the shock of seeing Kagome dancing. Her body swaying and grinding against another, her arms wrapped around his neck in such an intimate manner that screamed out for the whole room that they were lovers.
He had staggered out into the cold night air, his legs so shaky that those watching him thought he was drunk. But he had been stone-cold sober; he wasn't granted the mercy of a blackout-induced memory loss.
Still, he couldn't bring himself to try to find someone else. There was a tiny part of him that hoped that if he waited long enough, the situation would right itself, and they would find their way to each other. The thought brought a grim smile. That isn't how life worked, though. The most likely scenario was that Kagome, if she didn't stick with this guy, would find someone else. And then another. And so on and so forth, until she finally found one who was the one.
And he was just going to have to deal with it.
“It hurts. Not as bad as loving you did, but it still hurts.”
She’s crying, and he can feel each hot tear as it sears through the material of his hoodie. He’s a sick, selfish fucker because, for one hot minute, he clings to the fact that she had felt more strongly for him; that feeling withers and dies in the face of her sadness, and he can't bring himself to take any real joy from something that is causing her pain. At least this time, he’s not the one who fucked up and hurt her. At least this time, he’s trying to be there for her in whatever way she needs him--not the way he wants, but hell, this isn't about him.
Sango would probably tell her not to waste her tears on the bastard.
Miroku would have soothing words of wisdom that made you want to slap him for being right.
Inuyasha figured he’d said enough of the wrong shit over the years, and she didn't need to hear anymore. Words had never come all that easily to him, and she was too precious to hurt as casually as he had in the past.
So instead, he holds her a little tighter, stroking her hair. He places the barest whisper of a kiss on the top of her head, knowing she probably hadn't felt it but unable to hold back that small gesture of affection.
She wasn't his to love or protect.
Somehow, it really didn't seem to matter.
“Because I’m an idiot, and I fell in love with you again!”
It’s a quiet wail of despair, and honestly, the last thing Inuyasha thought he would ever hear. His ears flick forward and back in rapid succession, sure that somehow the delicate instruments were in error. She had been avoiding him, and he had finally hunted her down and pressed the issue. At her words, joy bubbles up within him, and the dead lump of flesh in his chest starts beating rapidly as if it’s trying to make up for lost time. He’s almost delirious in his happiness, so it comes as a shock when he realizes that Kagome is slumped in on herself, looking like the textbook definition of misery.
Why isn't she as happy as he is?
Then his brain catches up with the reality of the situation, and he has his answer. She thinks it’s like before. She thinks her heart is in a freefall and he’s not gonna do a damn thing before it splatters all over the ground.
But she’s wrong.
He takes a step toward her, and then another.
“Took you long enough,” he says, and he can't hold back the smile when he hears the hitch in her throat as her eyes search his with a desperate intensity.
He’s still shit with words, and he knows that she knows this. So instead of tripping over his own tongue and leaving room for misinterpretation, he leans forward and places his lips over hers. It’s light and gentle and over far too soon. She still looks slightly confused, so he places one hand on the back of her head and goes in for another. He feels her fingers slide up and grip his collar as she returns his kiss, her small whimper of satisfaction pulling out a rumble of agreement from deep within his chest.
He still doesn't feel like it’s enough.
“Fuck it,” he whispers harshly before pulling her flush against him, bruising her lips as he pours out the feelings that have been trapped within him for far too long.
Kagome, being Kagome, feels everything that he is saying without words, and to his delight, she responds in kind.
As they cling to each other in the cramped stairwell of her dorm, he feels it. Not the hair under his right hand or the hip under his left. But somehow, in both, the sensation of her heart sliding into place, exactly where she had placed it before.
It was a perfect fit.
From the slight tremble that ran through her body, he knew it was being placed carefully, as if not entirely sure it was safe. He couldn't blame her, and he was determined to do whatever it took to prove that neither her trust nor her heart had been misplaced. He wasn't too worried.
He might be an idiot, but he was an idiot with a damn good grip.

One Last Hurrah (Haikyuu!!)
Primary Universe
Tumblr media
Summary: When Hinata is late to volleyball practice right before Nationals, the team deals with its worries by ganging up on Kageyama once again.
A/N: This one has been on my Wish List for a while! I wanted to progress Kageyama’s storyline further by having him learn to trust his other teammates without Hinata around to stop them or keep them in check. I’m really proud of how this turned out, considering it took me longer than usual to write. Thank you for your patience! Enjoy! ^^
Word Count: 2,118
@myreygn
~~~
This was weird.
Eleven members of the Karasuno volleyball team sat in a nearly completed circle on the floor, an obvious gap between Kageyama and Tsukishima that the former was very much wishing would be filled.
Hinata was late. Late. To volleyball practice.
And not just any practice. The last one before Nationals next week.
Tsukki glared at Kageyama for the second time that morning, as though it were his fault they were missing the redheaded menace. “Have you heard anything yet?”
“It’s not like we keep tabs on each other all the time,” Kageyama muttered back. He met Daichi’s gaze and shrugged. “He hasn’t texted me. I don’t know anything. We don’t even live near each other. How am I—”
“Okay, relax,” Daichi said, holding up his hands in a placating gesture. “I’m sure there’s a good explanation. We all know Hinata wouldn’t bail on us this close to Nationals. He’s far too dedicated to this team to be late unless something was up.”
The rest of the circle nodded and murmured their agreement.
“Well, we can’t start the meeting without him,” Suga pointed out. “So what do we do? Should we go ahead and warm up and reconvene once he gets here?”
Daichi thought for a moment, glanced around the circle, and nodded. “Yeah, that might be for the best.”
Everyone split off into uneven teams to do their warm-ups – stretching, jogging a few laps, pairing off to spike and receive. Kageyama and Suga took the setter positions on either side of the net to set for the oncoming spikers. Noya was lined up to receive on the same side as the first-year and couldn’t help but notice how he kept glancing toward the door, growing more and more confused and maybe even apprehensive with each look over his shoulder.
Another half an hour went by, and still, no Hinata.
This was decidedly weird.
“Any word from carrot top?” Tsukishima asked Daichi, still appearing annoyed that their routine was thrown off because of the usually overly punctual decoy.
Daichi checked his phone. He shook his head. “Not yet. He hasn’t even read the text. If he’s still not here in a few minutes I’ll ask Mr. Takeda if the school got a call from his mom that he’s sick today or something.”
“He’d better not be sick this close to Nationals,” Kageyama muttered under his breath, having overheard the report. “I’ll kill him if he is.”
Noya laughed, nudging him in the side. “Chill out, man. He’ll be here, and even if he’s not, nothing short of death would keep him from coming to Nationals with us. It’ll be fine. Although I’m sure he’d be touched that you’re so worried about him, Kags~”
Kageyama looked both offended and like he’d been caught red-handed at once. “What? I’m not worried about that little moron! I’m just saying if he screws up our odds by getting sick, I’ll personally put him six feet under when he shows his face again.”
Tsukki rolled his eyes as he walked by. “Dramatic much, your majesty?”
“Shut up! You’re paranoid that he’s not here, too, you jerk.”
Noya stepped between the two before the blonde could whirl around and continue the fight. “All right, settle down, guys. We’re all worried that Hinata’s not here. But it’s nothing to get so worked up over.”
Daichi checked his phone again.
“You,” Noya continued, pointing at Tsukishima. “Don’t be mean. And you—” He turned to Kageyama, with an added pinch to his side. “Loosen up. We need you at your best.”
Kageyama squeaked instinctively, jumping aside and immediately covering his mouth, as if that could take back the sound that had drawn half his team’s attention with one syllable.
Noya’s eyes lit up.
“Don’t,” Kageyama said hurriedly, taking another step back.
“Hey, guys,” Daichi said, trying to get their attention.
“I have an idea,” the libero said mischievously, turning his fingers into claws and wiggling teasingly. “We all need to just chill out instead of worrying so much. How about we all tickle Kageyama again? This will be our last chance as a team, after all~”
“But Hinata’s not here,” Kageyama protested, heart racing nervously as he saw a few more smirks join Noya’s. Hinata wasn’t here to help keep them from going too far. If they started now…
“So? He tickles you all the time. I don’t think he’d mind if we had a go on our own for a change.” Noya winked at him teasingly. “Or do you just really miss him that badly?”
Kageyama glared at him. “It’s not like that! I just—”
Daichi tried once more. “Guys?”
But Noya was already moving, and so was Yamaguchi, and then Ennoshita, and then Tanaka, and soon any kind of control that may have still existed in the room was gone. Kageyama let out a shriek as he went down, yelling and protesting the whole way even as desperate giggles started to bubble up out of him at their prodding fingers.
Suga came to stand beside Daichi, glancing over his shoulder at the phone he still held in his hand. The captain tilted the screen so he could see. “Should we tell them?”
“I was trying to,” Daichi replied, pocketing the device and watching in amusement as their resident grump began to laugh in earnest, being pinned and tickled by his teammates. “But at this point, I’m just going to join in.”
Suga beamed. “Me, too.”
“Wahahahahahait! Wait! Plehehehehease!” Kageyama squealed, squirming and bucking as more fingers than he could count scribbled in his underarms, dug into his ribs, squeezed his hips and knees. He tried to kick but quickly had his legs pinned down as well as his arms, once again stuck at the mercy of his teammates as he’d been a couple of times already this season. He wouldn’t have been so freaked out about it if Hinata had gotten his butt to the most important practice of the year. “Guhuhuhuhuys! Nohohohohohot nohohohohohow! H-Hihihihihinata—!”
“Chill out, man, he’ll get here eventually,” Tanaka replied teasingly, interpreting his desperate cries as a sign that he wanted the redhead to be part of this madness, too. Which technically he did, but not for the reasons they were thinking.
Kageyama’s eyes darted to Daichi and Suga just as they knelt down to find an opening and join in on the fun. “Plehehehehehease, wahahahahahait! Dohohohohohon’t!”
When they merely grinned at him and started tickling anyway, a million old memories resurfaced, causing Kageyama to panic. In his mind’s eye he only saw his middle school teammates. They’d never once stopped when he screamed for them to, never once let up on his death spot no matter how purple his face got from not being able to breathe. It was all fun and games to them, but to the setter…
“Vohohohoholleyball! Volleyball! Plehehehehehease, stohohohohohohop!” he begged through his forced laughter.
At first, Daichi and the others were confused by his randomly yelling the word in the midst of his mirth. But then the captain realized it had to be a safe word of some kind and hurriedly told everyone to let up and give him a minute to breathe and communicate.
Kageyama was surprised when his safe word actually worked with his teammates who weren’t Hinata. He blinked and caught his breath as he looked around at their concerned faces, and all of a sudden he realized how wrong he’d been to assume that the Karasuno volleyball club would be anything other than playful and respectful.
“I…I’m sorry,” he said at last, propping himself up on his elbows once his arms were free. “I was afraid if Hinata weren’t here to stop you, you wouldn’t stop at all, and I…I panicked.”
Suga patted his leg gently. “Do you want us to stop? Are you not comfortable?”
Kageyama glanced around again. But he didn’t have to take long to know what his answer was. “No, I’m okay. It’s just…there’s one spot…”
Noya traced his own bottom ribs just above his stomach. “Here, right?”
Kageyama’s relief intensified so much he could have collapsed right back on the ground then and there. He nodded. “Yeah. I’m not ready for that spot yet.”
“If we promise not to tickle you there,” Daichi asked, “and stop when you say ‘volleyball,’ will you trust us not to go too far?”
The setter bit his lip, trying to keep himself from smiling in anticipation. “Y-Yeah. I trust you.”
“Then give these back,” Ennoshita said playfully, grabbing his arms and pulling them above his head again. “Let us show you we’re nothing like the jerks you played with in middle school.”
“I already k-knoohohohow thahahahahat.” Kageyama’s words ended in giggles when his friends gradually picked up where they’d left off, tickling his knees, hips, ribs, and underarms all at once. For several moments he allowed himself to relax and snicker openly. Then the first of what would surely be many hands slipped under his jersey to tickle his bare belly, and he choked on a snort and dissolved into laughter, squirming helplessly and elatedly on the gym floor.
“Aww, your tummy is still super ticklish, huh?” Noya teased. He must have been the first to go for the spot; Kageyama couldn’t entirely tell from his position at their playful mercy.
“Gah! Nohohohohoho, don’t t-tehehehehehease me!” Kageyama whined, though it was obvious he didn’t entirely mean it.
Tanaka grinned evilly, glancing around at everyone. “Oh? I say we should all tease you at once, just to see how flustered you get, ticklish little first-year!”
Kageyama yelped out a “no!” before suddenly being bombarded with teases from all sides. His teammates cooed and reminded him how ticklish he was and how fun it was to make him react, and the setter squeezed his eyes shut and blushed and laughed even louder, both from the effect of their words and an attempt to drown them out all at once.
“Stahahahahahap it! Guhuhuhuhuhuys! AH!! NONONO WAHAHAHAHAHAIT!!” he squealed suddenly, trying to jerk his leg out of the way when someone dug into his knee pit. “NOHOHOHOHOT THEHEHEHEHEHERE!! NOT THE KNEHEHEHEHEHEHEES!!”
Yamaguchi grinned and kept it up anyway.
For the next few minutes the members of the Karasuno volleyball team pinned and tickled their young setter with all the playfulness they could manage, always staying away from the spot he’d declared off-limits but finding ways to make him throw his head back and cackle out his harder laughter anyway. Kageyama was so caught up in the fun of it all that he lost his sense of where he was, only knowing ticklish sensations and unstoppable giggles until finally – after no one knew how long – the gym doors burst open and the final member of their team arrived a full hour late to the meeting.
“I’m here!” Hinata yelled, dropping his bag by the door and sprinting over to them. “I’m so sorry I’m late! My mom fell and hurt herself this morning and my sister was freaking out and I had to make sure they were both okay and I really wanted to be here on time but there wasn’t anything I could do about it and hey is Kageyama okay why are you all crowded around him like that?!”
Everyone had stopped the instant he barged in, staring at him as he spewed words at them that only kind of made sense for how fast they were flying from his mouth.
After a long pause, Daichi cleared his throat. “First off, is your mom okay?”
“Yeah, she’s good now. I helped her get to the living room so she’d be comfortable and then had to walk my sister to school since she couldn’t take her, then I sprinted over here as fast as I could. I’m so sorry I’m late!”
“It’s okay,” Suga told him calmly, smiling. “We found a way to pass the time while we were waiting for you.”
It was then that Hinata looked – really looked – at Kageyama for the first time. It took him all of two seconds to take in the blushing face, bright eyes, the jersey that had ridden up to expose his belly, and the way everyone else was either pinning him down or had hands on various ticklish spots.
“We’re gang tickling him?” Hinata gasped excitedly. “Is it too late for me to join?”
Kageyama whimpered, lips wobbling as he tried to suppress a giddy smile, knowing exactly what was coming next.
Everyone looked at him again and grinned.
Daichi chuckled. “I think we can spare a few more minutes.”
And Kageyama wound up laughing even louder now that his best friend had made his circle of teammates complete.
so imagine everyone's out at karaoke, and it's late into the night...
and oikawa and hinata have been trying in vain to convince their respective very taciturn boyfriends to please please pretty please sing nelly furtado's promiscuous with them wouldn't it be so fun pleaseee - and then in the midst of their begging, they catch each other's eye... if iwaizumi and kageyama won't sing it with them... well then, they really have no choice but to sing it together, don't they??
this is hardly the first time they've shut it down at karaoke or danced together, but it is the first time their boyfriends are there to witness the spectacle that is oihina's combined vibes. hinata's not going to let that change how much he absolutely kills his part, if kags had wanted in he should have agreed to sing with hinata the first ten times he'd asked. oikawa may or may not be playing it up more than usual, sending glances and smirks iwa's way periodically.
iwaizumi is fairly entertained by the two's antics, but kageyama is absolutely fuming and regretting everything that brought him to this point - he had not foreseen this outcome at all - and the dark cloud grows over him until he can't take it anymore and drags shouyou away from oikawa in the middle of the song to yell at (make out with) him in the other room, prompting laughs from the rest of peanut gallery.
once kghn are otherwise occupied, tooru collapses in iwa's lap, farrrr too pleased with himself. iwaizumi chides him ofc ("you know you're really too old to be teasing kageyama like that") and oikawa very poorly feigns ignorance ("i have no idea what you're talking about iwa-chan 😌")
on all subsequent karaoke nights, kageyama glowers at oikawa anytime he gets close to hinata, and oihina are banned from doing duets (bigger group numbers are tentatively and reluctantly allowed)
-Last Time-
        “That’s not their starting setter.” You say just before the whistle, indicating the start of set three, is blown. Suddenly you all hear a new voice.
        “Did you guys let them win a set?~”
        Upon hearing the new voice you and your team turn to the source. A boy with dark brown hair swept outward and eyes of the same color is standing behind Aoba Johsai’s coach. He’s wearing their team’s volleyball jacket.
        “You’re back. How’s the ankle?” The coach asks the boy.
        “All good!” He says, holding up an ‘okay’ sign with his fingers. “After all, it was just a light sprain.” ‘Who is-’ You wonder before your question is answered.
        “Oikawa-san!!” A bunch of girls begin squealing. Tanaka and Hinata are shocked while Kageyama looks worried. You drown out all the noise and conversations as your eyes are glued to Oikawa, studying him. He starts walking toward your team, specifically Kageyama.
        “Hey, Tobio-chan! It’s been a while.” He says happily waving at Kageyama. “How’s that King stuff going?” The two setters stare at each other before you go up to Kageyama and gently touch his shoulder. He breaks eye contact with Oikawa to look at you. He sees the concern on your face but before he can react Oikawa starts talking.
        “And who’s this?~.” He asks flirtatiously.
        “I’m one of Karasuno’s managers.” You say holding out your hand with a fake smile. He shakes your hand while you continue. “(L/N) (Y/N).” Behind you, your team is glaring at Oikawa. He sees this and smirks. He pulls your hand up to his lips and kisses the back of it. You blush and are suddenly pulled away from Oikawa and pushed behind someone. You look up to see that you’re behind Kageyama. Oikawa chuckles before he’s told to warm up by his coach.
        “Gotta go.” He begins as he turns around. “Good luck Tobio-chan~,” He then looks back and meets your eyes. “Bye~ Cutie~.” He says with a wink.
        As Oikawa walks away you hear some girls talking about when Oikawa will play. You look over at Tanaka who seems to have heard the conversation also. He looks extremely angry that the brown-haired boy is getting so much attention from the girls. You walk up to him and start talking.
        “Tanaka.” He looks at you only to see that you have a mischievous look on your face. “Why don’t you use that anger to show them how awesome you are.” He looks at you with surprise before the same grin appears on his face.
        “I like your thinking (Y/N).”
        The third and final set starts and everyone is giving it their all. Tanaka is channeling his anger into his spikes, which makes them harder to receive. The duo’s quick attack is working and earning points. Kageyama and Tsukishima are working together when blocking… well sorta.
        Karasuno soon hits matchpoint with Aoba Johsai at 20 points. Onion Head spikes the ball toward Tsukishima, who fails to receive it.
        “Don’t worry Tsukishima!” You say encouragingly.
        “Nice kill Kindaichi!” One of the other players says. ‘Hm…so his name is Kindaichi…’ You think to yourself.
        You look over at the opposing bench to see Oikawa talking to his coach. He notices you looking and winks. You roll your eyes, look away, and turn to Takeda and Kiyoko.
        “Great.” You begin and they turn to you.
        “What’s wrong?” Takeda asks.
        “Oikawa is warmed up.”
        As if on cue, the whistle is blown. You look to see it’s a player substitution and Oikawa is switching with number 7. ‘He’s going in as a pinch server?’ you question yourself. You look at your teammates on the court to see Hinata surprised, Tanaka flipping Oikawa off, Daichi hitting Tanaka, and Kageyama looking nervous. ‘I don’t have a good feeling…’ you think.
        “Stay on your toes guys!” You warn. Oikawa smirks at you before speaking.
        “No matter how powerful your offense is….” He begins before pointing at Tsukishima. “...it means nothing if you can’t get the ball into play.” ‘Oh, no… this is bad.’
        Oikawa tosses the ball in the air and performs a powerful jump serve that is aimed right at Tsukishima. ‘I knew it!’ You exclaim in your head. You see Suga has figured it out as well. Tsukishima tries to receive it but fails due to his lack of skills in receiving and the sheer force of it.
        “I thought so.” Oikawa says after being awarded a point. “I was watching earlier and noticed the tall #6 and the shorty #5…” You start to worry which makes you mad because you want your boys to win. You unknowingly start to glare at Oikawa. He sees this and finishes his sentence. “...aren’t good at receiving, right?” He smiles innocently which makes you angrier. You look to see Tsukishima is also angry, and the players on the sideline and Takeda are scared.
        Oikawa serves and targets the blond again. The results are the same as before. You see Tsukishima get even more frustrated. You aren’t the only one to notice though. Suddenly Hinata starts yelling.
        “Hey! Great King! Send it to me! I’ll get it!” He exclaims while flailing around. As Tsukishima tells the short middle blocker to stop, you see Oikawa is confused by the new nickname. Hinata then repeats Tanaka’s speech about allies which causes you to softly chuckle. Daichi then instructs the team to move so he has more of a range to receive.
        “Good thinking Daichi!” You praise the captain who smiles but his eyes don’t leave the court. “You got this guys!” You encourage as Oikawa targets Tsukishima yet again. The blond receives the ball with difficulty, earning praise from you, Suga, and Yamaguchi. Oikawa looks mockingly surprised as the ball heads to his team’s side causing it to be a chance ball.
        Oikawa receives it and passes it to #5, who sets it for Kindaichi. He spikes it but Hinata jumps and gets a one-touch leading to another chance ball. As Hinata lands, he immediately runs to the other side of the net and performs a quick attack. You watch as Hinata opens his eyes before he hits the ball right past Oikawa.
        The whole gym is silent except for the bouncing of the ball. The whistle is then blown. You look at the scoreboard as it reads 25-23 in Karasuno’s favor. Karasuno wins…
        Takeda slumps in his chair with an impressed look on his face. The boys line up as Suga asks if Takeda is okay.
        “...That was…amazing.” You giggle at his reaction as Suga enthusiastically rambles. The players run and walk up to your sensei. He becomes surprised and confused when they bow and thank him. You whisper to him to give a speech and he does. You listen to his speech but as he finishes everyone is silent which causes him to freak out and apologize. Daichi calms him down. They bow and thank him again before dispersing to get water and cool down. As they go you hear Takeda say he needs to find them a coach quickly.
        “Don’t worry sensei.” You say, causing him to look at you. “You’ll find one. I believe in you!” You say with a smile before happily running toward Tanaka, Kageyama, and Hinata who are happily chatting. Takeda watches you before softly speaking.
        “Thank you, Miss (L/N). Thank you for helping the team.”
Curse
Kageyama is at his wits end. The witch who cursed him said his soulmate is right in front of him and he’s kissed everyone he knows, including Miya Osamu, who he’s spoken two words to ever.
But hey he goes to Onigiri Miya all the time, so why not?
It didnt work.
He goes home, where Tsukishima, Hinata, and Yamaguchi are clustered in the living room watching some drama Tsukishima’s family used to watch, and announces that he’s still cursed.
“But he was the last person!” Hinata says incredulously as Yamaguchi pauses the show.
Kageyama pulls the collar of his shirt down to show the darkness that’s slowly creeping up his chest. “Apparently not.”
Hinata is offering condolences while Tsukishima flatly says “I told you it wouldn’t work.”
Kageyama squeezes onto the couch and tiredly slumps into Yamaguchi’s shoulder when Yamaguchi suggests the worst idea he’s heard. “Y’know,… you never kissed Tsukki.”
“WHAT??” Tsukishima screeches. The horrified look on his face matches Kageyama’s feelings.
“He’s right though,” Hinata says, glancing back and forth between the two of them with complete sincerity.
Kageyama is about to go to the post office to find his mailman when Hinata rushes over and blocks the front door. “Think about it,” he says softly. “Tsukishima’s the last person you know.”
“I don’t want him to be my true love,” Kageyama says through gritted teeth.
“Who else is right in front of you?” Hinata asks.
Kageyama shrugs. “I see Ushijima-san a lot.”
“You kissed him 3 weeks ago.”
“Hoshiumi-san.”
“Kissed him too.”
“Kuroo and Kenma are around a lot.”
“You kissed both of them last weekend.”
“Have you been keeping track?!”
“I don’t want you to die!!”
“I’d rather die than be in love with Snarkyshima,” Kags bites back.
“You don’t mean that.”
Hinata’s right, he doesn’t, but why does it have to be Tsukishima? It could be anyone else Kageyama knows but hasn’t kissed yet (admittedly, that list is getting very short).
“If you don’t do it I’m gonna ask Kiyoko-san to kiss you and then Tanaka’s gonna kill you before the curse gets the chance,” Hinata deadpans.
Kageyama shudders at the thought of getting Tanaka angry. He frowns at Hinata. “Fine.”
Kageyama turns away from the door and goes back into the living room. “Tsukishima, I need you to kiss me.”
“No.”
“Yes.”
“No,” Tsukishima repeats, standing up and going to his room with Kageyama on his heels.
“You want me to die?” Kageyama asks, pushing his way into Tsukishima’s bedroom before he can close the door on him.
“You’re not gonna die. Just go kiss your true love.”
“What if it’s you?”
“It isn’t me.”
“How are you so sure?”
“Why would it be me?” Tsukishima asks, irritated glare fixed on Kageyama.
“Why would it be Ushijima-san or Kenma or Yamaguchi?!?” Kageyama shouts, calm façade breaking as he feels the darkness closing in on his heart. “If you’re so sure it isn’t you, prove it!” he practically screams, crossing the room and getting in Tsukishima’s face. “Kiss me!”
So Tsukishima does.
A sharp tug on Kageyama’s shirt and they’re pressed together.
At first, Kageyama isn’t even sure what’s happening, but something bright is taking refuge in his lungs and Tsukishima is warmer than he expected.
They break apart quickly and Tsukishima adjusts his glasses as he tells Kageyama to get out of his room.
Not listening, Kageyama starts to take off his shirt.
“What are you-?!?” Tsukishima shouts as Kageyama puts his shirt to the side.
“It’s gone,” Kageyama says softly, looking down at his own chest in quiet awe.
“What’s gone?” Tsukishima asks, eyebrow raised.
“The curse, it’s gone!” Kageyama’s voice goes back to a normal volume as he smiles at Tsukishima.
Tsukishima scoffs. “You’re just messing with me. Not funny, King.”
‘Huh?’ Kageyama thinks. “You see it, don’t you?”
Tsukishima shakes his head.
“I’m back to normal!”
“You always looked normal. You were just really cold all the time.”
“You never saw it?” Kageyama asks, mind reeling. Everyone could see it. Hinata saw it. Kuroo saw it. Yamaguchi and Yachi both said it was scary to look at. He couldn’t even convince Kenma or Hoshiumi to kiss him without showing them the marks, which were only on his back at the time. And this whole time Tsukishima couldn’t even see it?
Without thinking, Kageyama reaches out and grabs Tsukishima’s hand. “Feel it then,” he says as he puts Tsukishima’s palm flat on his chest.
“You’re warm,” Tsukishima says, awed voice matching Kageyama’s from a few minutes ago. “You’re okay?”
“I’m okay,” Kageyama confirms, smiling from ear to ear.
Kageyama thought the curse breaking would be the oddest thing to happen tonight, but what happens next is weirder. Before Kageyama knows it, Tsukishima’s eyes are full of tears. He’s pulled into a tight hug and hears a choked up “You’re okay,” in his ear before Tsukishima really starts to sob.
“I didn’t know you cared this much,” Kageyama says as he wraps his arms around Tsukishima.
Once Tsukishima calms down a little bit, he manages to respond with a watery “Of course I care, you idiot.” He lets go and starts to rub his eyes.
“And I love you,” Kageyama says jokingly, reaching out to wipe the tears from Tsukishima’s cheeks.
“Shut up,” Tsukishima grumbles, but he lets Kageyama touch him anyway.
Kageyama just laughs. Maybe having Tsukishima as his true love will be better than he thought.
Jag känner mig sååå ensam, tror jag alltid känt mig ensam men detta är på en ny nivå. Hatar kvällar/nätter när man ska sova och man är helt själv i sängen. Jag har aldrig haft nån i min säng eller i mitt liv på det sättet jag längtar efter nu, men gud vad jag längtar efter att ha någon just nu. Det hjälper inte heller att jag va på väg att få något med en tjej, men det rann ut i vattnet, för hon va nog inte lika i det som mig, för inte så länge sedan. En av mina bästa vänner gifte sig också nyss och en annan har precis skaffat kille (det va pisslätt för na) som får mig att känna mig ännu mer ensam. För jag har ändå försökt skaffa nån, men det känns så jävla svårt, typ omöjligt.
Jag hatar att jag är ensam i min lägenhet hela eftermiddagar/kvällar/nätter oxh bara slösar bort mitt liv på att göra inget och isolera mig själv. Det känns så patetiskt.
Min ensamhet gäller inte bara kärlekslivet heller, har börjat sakna min familj och släkt som fan den senaste veckan. Det är nu närmare två månader sen jag träffade dom, vilket inte är så mycket men det känns mycket längre, är dock bara två veckor tills jag träffar dom. Det är nästan så att kag börjar ifrågasätta om jag vill bo kvar så här många mil bort från dom när jag har pluggat klart till sommaren, men jag trivs här och mina vänner är här. Allt känns så jobbigt.
Note
could you talk about kik and her desires? ( ie: does she WANT to be dead? does she want to live the life that was stolen from her?)
oh this is SUCH a good question, thank u from the bottom of my heart for asking bc this should be quite an interesting lil thought experiment ... let us dive in :3
first and foremost, to understand kikyo and the general concept of desires (or, more base-level, just "wanting" as a whole), it's helpful to look at her childhood and the way she brought herself up. her parents died shortly after kaede's birth, and so she was alone at the age of eight. it's not said exactly when but it wouldn't have been very long after that, taking on the role of kaede's mother, essentially, that she would have started training as a priestess. from the jump she was adept at keeping her own childish emotions at bay out of necessity, as she was responsible for her younger sister, as well as the duties requires by a priestess. the pair, probably around the time kikyo was 15 or so, and so kaede was around 7, traveled and slayed demons whilst training. everything about their existence was survival-based, and in the direct service of others.
when kikyo is given responsibility of the jewel, she is even further obligated to set aside any rambunctious emotions, wants, desires, fears, etc. that might make her come across vulnerable to yokai and evil men seeking the jewel. she had to turn herself to stone, and shed the happiness, joys, silliness and breakdowns that humans all faced – she was not able to want, because wanting would prove to be her downfall.
there's also a sidenote on this, something i haven't gotten into much at all but it is actually a major aspect of kikyo's character, that she was cursed by tsubaki (a fellow, rival priestess who was jealous that kikyo was given the jewel to protect), to die a violent death should she ever fall in love. kikyo wasn't worried about that, generally, because she didn't consider that she would ever fall in love. of course, it happens, the curse plays itself out, etc. etc. but all to say even if she didn't actively fear this curse, it still existed and she was aware of it, and it barred her from the part of herself that might one day have those desires.
onto the more specific part of this question re: does she want to be dead? the short answer would be no; but like all things it is of course a little more complicated than that. she would rather be alive, all told, but in death she found a sort of freedom she lacked in life. in fact, on this very subject, in a strange and unexpected way, she is able to want and desire and show that vulnerability more freely and completely than ever before. due to the soul she possesses being darkened by wrath, it is typically a desire that has to do with anger and hatred, but even then, this is a freedom all the same. and one she never had experienced beforehand.
the second question, does she want to live the life that was stolen from her – god, yes. and i think this is largely why she loathes inu so much, and why she is so cruel towards kagome. it is hurt, anger, resentment – she wants so badly to be able to live that life; firstly on the level that, in a literal sense, she was killed at so young an age and in her resurrection she knows that her time is limited and fleeting. secondly, because she never even had a chance to begin with – with her life as it was, she was always doomed to unhappiness, loneliness. she nearly had an out to that, with inu and the jewel, and that was taken from her – she sees inu alive, and she is jealous of that chance. she sees kagome being loved, not just by inu but by so many, and she sees this girl's happiness, kindness, and joy – things which she never had, and could never really express (save for kindness, which i would argue was always something she held onto as well in her lifetime, and she has a similar capacity for it as kag but most assuredly doesn't act on it often, especially now, and when she does it manifests differently).
kikyo had to hold back from wanting, from longing, from desire in its entirety. she is given that freedom, finally, in death, but this comes at a cost – that it is finite, and she does not have her entire life ahead of her. no matter her course, her path; she is fated to tragedy.
♧ really good at singing. whenever studying or doing paperwork, he always seems to slip into singing the song that's playing in his earphones. his voice is deep and smooth as it dances from note to note, lyric to lyric.
♧ likes to keep an audio diary or audio journal where he just rants about his day. he wants a healthy way to cope with his stress, and this is one of the ways recommended to him, only a lot of the time after grueling practice, he's too tired to write so he keeps it in audio form instead. it's like ranting to a friend, but a lot more private, something he prefers.
♧ because of his history with kitagawa first, he's never really had a nickname he was fond of, other than the one his family members give him so imagine his shock when hinata first called him kags. boy literally froze in place for a few seconds before snapping back to reality, telling his teammate it sounded stupid, then calling him an idiot for good measure. the look on his face held the truth though -- he liked it.
♧ likes to chew gum whenever he's nervous. because of that, there's a ton of differently colored gum wrappers in his bag. he gathers a handful of them when the times comes where he completely cleans it out to wash it.
♧ either spam tweets on his secret twitter account or spams private stories on his instagram or completely disappears from them. he's not the best at technology and all that. if he needs to tweet something important out, hoshiumi usually ends up reminding him and ushijima.
♧ really values his personal space. unfortunately, not many people value it see: karasuno volleyball team.
♧ formed an unexpected friendship with ushijima wakatoshi because of their shared experience with being raised in a volleyball-loving environment.
♧ he'd never admit it, but being in karasuno helped with his abandonment issues a lot and he's thankful for that.
♧ very bad at handling spice, but he's too prideful to show it or to reach for the milk. he just ends up with a very red face at the end, getting forced to down the milk.
♧ ever since that day he made a child cry just from staring at them, he makes a conscious effort to look less intimidating when he's with kids and even animals.
♧ looking back at it now that he's an adult, he thinks it was a wise decision since he has so many younger fans now and of course he doesn't want to scare them.
♧ probably good at physics.
♧ much more logic driven than emotion driven.
♧ takes spiders outside when someone in his house is bothered by it. if he lives alone and it's not big nor venomous, he's not even gonna bother. he doesn't really wanna kill the critter.
♧ cannot binge watch for shit because he cannot sit still for shit.
