Ingenue vs Gamine: Comparative Essence Analysis
I feel like most people get Ingenue & Gamine essence mixed up. They're easy to confuse because both these essences make the individual look younger than they are and give them a "cute" appearance but there are key differences between the two.
CELEBRITIES WITH INGENUE ESSENCE
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
L to R
Nicola Coughlan, Kim Minju
YooA, Miranda Kerr
Hanni, Lin Yun
Gene Tierney, Skai Jackson & Michelle Trachtenberg
If you look at their features, they have full cheeks, mostly big eyes, a small tapered chin, round foreheads and an overall round face. They look very doll-like and innocent. Ingenue is extreme yin essence so these women look very girl-like even when they're much older (Miranda is 40, Nicola is 37)
CELEBRITIES WITH GAMINE ESSENCE
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
L to R
Taylor Russell
Zoe Kravitz, Jeongyeon, Dahyun
Seulgi, Devon Aoki, Luda
Kristin Kreuk, Nana Komatsu
All of these women have Gamine essence. Similar to Ingenue essence, all of them look young and cute but while Ingenues have more rounded features, Gamines have a combination of sharp and soft features. Gamine is yin with a dash of yang whereas Ingenue is pure yin. Gamines don't look as "innocent" as Ingenues, they have a kind of mischievous look to them. They're more likely to be cast as the troublemaker who plays silly pranks than the goody two shoes. Ingenues tend to have round faces overall whereas Gamines have more angular faces with pointy chins with smaller eyes and lips. They have a tomboyish charm.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
L to R
Park Boyoung & Jun Jihyun- Gamine
Shu Qi & Ni Ni, both Ingenue
Zooey Deschanel, IU & Ariana Grande- Gamine
I wanted to juxtapose Shu Qi & Ni Ni with some Gamines because I feel like because of their features they can be mistyped as Gamines even though they're Ingenues.
One distinguishing trait is their rounded foreheads, this is a very youthful trait because we associate it with babies. Another is how their overall features are rounded not angular, pointy or sharp. They also do not seem "naughty" or "mischievous" looking. Their faces seem softer more delicate as opposed to the Gamines.

Romantic
Academia Fashion - Kibbe
The Romantic Kibbe body type is defined by curves. Romantics are petite, on the shorter side, and have a full hourglass figure, which should be emphasised through clothing. They suit rounded and soft, clothing with waist emphasis. V-necks, light colors, feminine ruffles, fitted shapes, soft fabrics, and high detail is very flattering.

Kibbe Body Types and Celebrities: a Beginner's Guide
Tumblr media
(Credit to: Aly Art)
David Kibbe, author of Metamorphosis, drew upon previous fashion systems to create his own Kibbe Body System, homing in on the yin-yang balance of the body and boiling his method down to the bare bones-- literally-- of the overall frame: length, width, height, and softness. Then, he divided each feature into two main categories:  the yin softness or the yang structure. The more “structure” a frame had, the more “visual weight” it presented; and the more “softness” it had, the less “visual weight” it presented.
At first, Kibbe sorted each frame into five main types with two additional subtypes. However, his system recently caught on fire with popularity, leading to vast misinterpretations or reinterpretations through over analysis and hyper fixation. Because of this, David updated his system (and is reworking on an updated version of his book), resifting his old designs into a simpler order.
This analysis will be working from the information I've gleaned mostly from Aly Art's channel here. She is incredible at stripping down each concept to its basics-- highly recommend. I also used Merriam Style’s channel for her body type test (here), which is an even more stripped version of Kibbe’s original body type quiz. (Aly's version of the quiz is here.)
**Note**: Kibbe Body Types are separate from the actual weight of an individual; and do not change with bodily fluctuations, changes, or even age. Example: Romantics will always appear softer compared to other body types their height or weight because of the “flesh” (natural padding of fat) over their muscles and bones, whereas Naturals will always appear more “mature” compared to older Gamines because of the visual weight of the bones (cheekbone, jawbone, etc.) in their face.
KIBBE BODY TYPES
Tumblr media
(Credit to: Aly Art)
**Note**: The Kibbe Body System is a complete overview of the entire frame, not just the face: two different people can share strikingly similar facial features yet have completely different bodies. It’s important to assess more than one facet.
If we were to place the Kibbe Body Types on a left to right scale, Dramatics have the most yang-- sharpness, length, elongation, structure-- and Romantics have the most yin-- shortness, roundness, softness. In the middle would sit the Classics-- a balanced mixture of yang structure and yin softness; mid-left would be Naturals (yang elongation with blunted width); and mid-right would be Gamines (an uneven mixture of yin and yang.)
DRAMATIC TYPES
Dramatics
Tumblr media
Dramatic Types have longer, angular, more narrow bones-- a vertical column, if you will-- that curve into points instead of “blunt” edges. They are moderate to tall (5’9"/173cm and up), and have prominent, straight, sleek features. If plus sized, they accumulate weight in their hips and upper thighs.
Benedict Cumberbatch, Sean Connery, Charlton Heston, Ricardo Montalban, Errol Flyn, Daniel Craig
Katherine Hepburn, Cate Blanchett, Angelica Huston,  Diane Carol, Faye Dunaway, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kristen Wig, Maggie Smith, Taylor Swift
Soft Dramatics
Tumblr media
Soft Dramatic Types have more softness in their bust and hips, giving them a powerful voluptuousness (as opposed to the Romantic Types delicate pure yin.) They are moderate to tall (5’7”/170cm and up), with a moderate waist and fleshier facial features, arms, and hips. If plus sized, they get heavier on the fleshiest parts of the body: bust, hips, waist, thighs, upper arms, and the face.
Dean Martin, Christian Bale, Matthew McConoughy, John Travolta, Nicholas Cage, Clark Gable
Adele, Ann Bancroft, Ava Gardiner, Barbara Streisand, Kim Novak, Maria Callas, Mae West, Rachel Weiz, Rita Heyworth, Sofia Vergara, Sofia Loren
NATURAL TYPES
Naturals have longer, blunted, wider bones-- a T-shape, if you will-- that curve into blunts instead of angular or softened edges.
David Kibbe no longer believes in the pure Natural Type, placing clients or celebrities into either Flamboyant or Soft Natural.
Flamboyant Naturals
Tumblr media
Flamboyant Natural Types have a touch more structure: blunt, long, wide bones; wide, T-shaped shoulders; and a figure that narrows in a flat, straight line down their waist, hips, and legs. They are moderate to tall (5’11”/180cm and up), with features that are broad and angular, but not sharp. If plus sized, the body tends to become squarer.
Calvin Klein, Dick Van Dyke, Harrison Ford, Clint Eastwood, Tom Sellack (maybe), Michael Landon (maybe), Joe Biden
Amy Adams, Anne Hathaway (had work done to disguise), Bea Arthur, Brooke Shields, Cameron Diaz, Carly Simon, Cindy Crawford (quintessential, imo), Emma Stone, Farah Faucett, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ingrid Bergma, Jane Fonda, Jennifer Lawrence, Julia Roberts, Lucille Ball, Linda Carter, Michelle Obama, Nicole Kidman, Katie Homes (probably), Princess Diana Spencer, Sarah Jessica Parker, Tracey Ellis Ross, Uma Therman, LOTS of supermodels (broad shoulders, long and straight waist)
Soft Naturals
Tumblr media
Soft Natural have a softness to their long, blunt, wide bones, narrow hips. They are moderate to tall (5’5”/165cm and up), with smaller, rounder softness to their blunt facial features and frame. Their T-shape is less pronounced because of their more proportionate shoulders (in comparison to Flamboyant Naturals, at least.) If plus sized, SNs thicken in their upper arms, thighs, and hips.
Alan Alda, OJ Simpson, John Wayne, Robert Redford, Robert Conrad, Bing Crosby, Tom Cruise, George Clooney, Gene Kelly, Brad Pit, Gene Hackman
Bette Grable, Carol Lombard, Chloe Sevigny, Doris Day (icon), Goldie Hahn, Helen Mirren, Jennifer Lopez, Julie Andrews, Kamala Harris, Kat Dennings, Katy Perry, Kim Bassinger, Marisa Tomay, Renee Zellweger, Sandra Bullock, Scarlet Johanson (had work done), Sissy Spacek
CLASSIC TYPES
Classics are an even mixture of both skeletal structures: their frames are mid-height or tallish-- symmetrical angles or edges-- with a “balanced” appearance: their arms, waists, and legs are proportionate in length and width to their overall frame (not too angular, curved, or blunt); and can handle more visual weight than Romantics but less so than Dramatics or Naturals. They appear naturally polished; and often are dragged down by elements in their wardrobes that skew too much in any direction (appearing overwhelmed or overdone.)
Kibbe no longer promotes pure Classic Types, insisting that no person can be a perfect mixture and discouraging his clients or followers from trying to fit themselves into an impossible mold.
Dramatic Classics
Tumblr media
Dramatic Classic Types are an even mixture of yin and yang with just a touch more of yang’s structure, giving them either slightly sharper features, slightly longer limbs, or a bit less softness overall. Their height is moderate (5’5”-5’8”/166-172cm or thereabouts); and their figure and features are symmetrically squarish (more rectangular compared to Dramatics’ long and narrow vertical column and Naturals’ long and wide T-shape.) If plus sized, they gain weight in the hips and thighs (rarely around the bustline), becoming more pear-shaped overall.
Carey Grant, John Ham
Diana Rig, Gina Rollins, Jackie Kennedy-Onassis, Jill Biden, Lana Turner, Olivia Munn, Phylicia Rashad
Soft Classics
Tumblr media
Soft Classic Types are a symmetrical mixture with just a touch more of yin’s softness, giving them either slightly softened features, slightly shorter and wider limbs, or slightly more “fleshiness” overall. Their height is moderate (5’5"-5'6”/164-169cm); and their features are slightly small and wide. If plus sized, SCs lose their waist definition and become fuller in the face.
John Slattery, John Glenn, Gregory Peck, Bryant Gumbel
Barbara Walters, Carolina Herrera, Donna Reed, Emma Thompson, Grace Kelly, Joan Fontaine, Kirsten Dunst (maybe), Marion Cotillard
GAMINE TYPES
Gamines are an uneven mixture of both skeletal structures: their frames are usually short or rarely tall-- unsymmetrical angles or edges-- with a “youthful” appearance; and the mismatch of their skeletons give them an appearance of eternal youth instead of “womanly” or “mature” beauty. The endless combinations of their features-- long arms, short arms, long legs, short legs, long torso, short torsos, visual weight in the face, no visual weight in the face, etc. etc.-- thrive in the chaos of mismatching, color blocking, differing clothing silhouettes; and are often dragged down by too much polish or restriction.
David Kibbe no longer stands by the pure Gamine type, filtering people into either Theatrical or Soft Gamine.
Theatrical Gamines
Tumblr media
Theatrical Gamine Types tip the scales in a more yang than yin direction, giving them a broadly angular frame composed of shorter lines (compared to the Dramatics’ and Naturals’ long, angular, and broad lines.) They are moderate to short height (5’6”/168cm) with square, slightly wide features. Structure gives them very defined musculature-- ala Dramatics and Naturals-- and a longer, “leggier” look. If plus sized, TGs collect weight from the waist down, turning squarer or “stocky.”
Jimmy Kimmel, Frank Sinatra, Neil Patrick Harris
Audrey Hepburn, Coco Chanel, Debbie Allen, Gloria Vanderbilt, Jennifer Love-Hewitt, Kelly Osborne, Liza Minelli, Lucy Liu, Penelope Cruz, Tina Turner, Twiggy, Zoey Deschenel
Soft Gamines
Tumblr media
Soft Gamine Types tip the scales in a more yin than yang direction. They are the short Gamines (5’2”/157cm or thereabouts): delicately broad-- a combination of delicate and small, broad and angular-- with width dominated by an overall “fleshy” softness in their arms, hips, and thighs. SGs often have “doll" like features: rounded face shape, fleshy cheeks and big eyes. If plus sized, their figure becomes more rounded, mainly in the bust, hips, arms, and face area. (Soft Gamines often think they are overweight-- when more often they’re not-- because of their natural roundness and lack of pronounced hips and waist.)
Fred Astaire, Robert Downy Jr.
Bette Davis, Susan Hayward, Claudette Colbert, Debbie Reynolds, Eartha Kitt, Halle Berry, Judy Garland, Leslie Caron, Mary Kate and Ashley Olson, Octavia Spencer, Natalie Wood, Reese Witherspoon, Sally Field, Winona Ryder
ROMANTIC TYPES
Romantics
Tumblr media
Romantics are dominated by yin softness; and, therefore, have the least visual “weight” to them. Their frames are mid-height or shorter (5’5"/166cm and under) with “rounded” and curved angles or edges-- sloped or petite shoulders, rounded facial features, and “fleshy”, shorter arms, waists, and legs. If plus sized, Romantics keep their waist definition while their body and face become more rounded and “full.”
Colin Firth, Leonardo DiCaprio, Elijah Wood, Simon Baker, Richard Gere, Michael Jackson, Omar Shereef, Billy Dee Williams, Elvis Presely
Kate Winslet, Drew Barrymore, Christina Ricci, Arlene Dahl, Bernadette Peters, Beyonce, Dolly Parton, Elizabeth Taylor, Gina Lollobrigida, Helena Bonham Carter, H. E. R. Gabbie Wilson, Gene Simmons, Madonna, Maryln Monroe, Susan Sarandon
Theatrical Romantics
Tumblr media
Theatrical Romantic Types differ from pure Romantic Types in their width: while both are delicate, the touch of yang to a TR’s frame gives it a narrower waist, slightly sharper features, and a bit less flesh over their arms, hips, or even hands. Their moderate to petite height (5’2”/157cm or thereabouts) is voluptuous, but small and narrow as opposed to wide and “bulky.” If plus sized, their figure retains its defined waist while the arms, thighs, and face become quite “fleshy.”
David and Susan Kibbe, Orlando Bloom, Prince, Johnny Depp
Ann Margret, Heidi Lamar, Jada Pinkett Smith, Jane Seymor, Jean Harlowe, Mila Kunis, Morgan Fairchild, Salma Hayek, Selena Gomez, Vivian Leigh

Dressing TXT in Dior SS24 Womens Collection
as a reminder, this is what TXT wore to the 2023 MAMA red carpet:
Tumblr media
save for taehyun and yeonjun (if only the clothing were altered to fit him better 😩), their outfits don’t really seem impressive enough for a red carpet event. the fabrics are stiff and the color palette is dull.
it’s a shame they skipped on the other accessories/details from the mens resort collection bc it could have added more visual interest to their outfits! and they could have gone for the more colorful pieces from the line so they wouldn’t look so washed out ☹️
that said, why not imagine if txt wore pieces from the dior women’s collections too 🤔
like… i can see yeonjun in these!! emphasizes his long legs and his nonchalant persona (albeit not exactly the most impressive for a red carpet appearance for an awards show, i think it'd still garner a lot of attention *cough 2022 AMAs Yeonjun*)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think these jackets/vests would suit Hueningkai. He has the frame for it and he looks pretty good in black. Him in black lace is always going to be legendary so they could use a similar fabric combo for red carpet styling!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can see Beomgyu in the outfit on the left (but maybe swap out the dress for similarly printed separates if a dress would be too "out there") , while the outfit on the right could suit taegyu (combo of the leather jacket and sheer, textured fabrics 😩)!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
soobin could totally pull off the pussybow top and the printed coat!!! he has the build for these dramatic elements, mixed in with the softer fabrics and prints
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the fringe jacket/details could suit soobin too, imo. the sheer details from both these outfits/tops could also suit taehyun (similar vibe to his outfit today) 🤔
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ok it's a little visually boring for txt and not exactly a red carpet outfit but i think soogyu could kill in this last outfit as it draws attention to their waist
Tumblr media
imo, dior is not exactly the most ideal fashion house for txt as the former tends to lean towards stiffer, more geometric silhouttes and relatively muted palettes (can you believe these are all from their SPRING/SUMMER 2024 collection??), which could be a visual mismatch for txt (the first set of lolla 2023 outfits looked so out of place for a rock festival 🥲)
that said, i think if they had a little more freedom in styling the pieces from the entire dior catalogue (mens and womens), it could be more on brand!!
if you've reached this far, thanks so much for exploring this silly little imagining exercise with me! let me know your thoughts too 🫶

This is for people who struggle with personal style and building a wardrobe and stuff like that, because I struggled with it, too:
Determine what you like. Look up various styles: goth, grunge, preppy, casual, tomboy, etc. Mix styles if that's your thing.
If you can't determine what you like (me, too), go create a Pinterest board. Add outfits you like to it, eventually you'll see a common theme. That's your key.
After you figure out your main theme, pay attention to the pieces in its outfits. Chances are, you'll find that there are several pieces that keep recurring, these are your building blocks. These pieces can be as specific as a black Converse, for example, or as general as a-line skirts.
Determine your seasonal colour type. This is a guideline for colours that suit you, you can always play around with it. If you are a person of colour, like me, type 'seasonal colour analysis for people of colour' into the search bar. Most sites deal with the system for white people, and mistype POC into autumn or winter palettes.
Decide a number of colours for your main colours, and a number for neutrals. Build your wardrobe around those colours, and don't stray from them. This is how you get a wardrobe full of pieces that can compliment each other, and that can mix around too create several outfits instead of a certain few that you can't change anything about. This is also how you manage to have a wardrobe full of pieces that all look great on you.
Figure out your body shape and how to flatter it.
You can also look into the Kibbe and Kitchener systems.
Avoid following trends. Please.
After all of this, you'll have an understanding of the style you like, but, for further personalization:
Determine your favourite perfume type. Do you like them sugary and sweet? Spicy? Go to a perfume shop, try a few ones and figure out what you like most.
What sort of accessories do you like? Watches can look elegant and classy, if you want to go for that. Rings can be classy or edgy. Do you like necklaces? Figure it out. You don't have to wear all sorts of accessories. I personally don't like watches and bracelets, so I avoid them when shopping. Balance the impression you'd like to give, with what you actually find comfortable and practical.
Bags. Apply the same process as above.
Makeup too.
Accessories can accent your look. Maybe you like to dress casual, but you want a sprinkle of edginess as well, so play with belts and chains and boots. Apply that everywhere.
Play with all of this, and the personal impression you want to give, and you get a personal aesthetic style, and an actually functional wardrobe.

Introduction to Aesthetic Aspiration Personality Theory (AAPT) V. 0.2
Releasing an update to AAPT(formerly AEPT) that builds off of months of utilizing the system and my evolving thoughts and terms for the system. I hope you enjoy! I've also finally made a discussion group for AAPT, you can join here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1043756753302068/ .
Tumblr media
If you're interested in a body neutral, gender expansive framework for exploring beauty made by a queer neurodivergent person this is for you
"Personality is the supreme realization of the innate idiosyncracy of a living being. It is an act of high courage flung in the face of life, the absolute affirmation of all that constitutes the individual, the most successful adaptation to the universal conditions of existence coupled with the greatest possible freedom for self-determination." Quote from Carl Jung
As a queer, gender non-conforming, neurodivergent person I've oftentimes felt I didn't have my experiences reflected in Yin Yang based style systems despite finding them fascinating. So using my experience with personality theories and eclectic wisdom traditions I've crafted my own system that prioritizes personality and authentic preference over others’ perception of who someone is or is supposed to be. I aimed to avoid unnecessarily boxing people in. I've tried to create an accessible structure that can model complexity and supposed "contradictions" while allowing fine-tuned articulation of preference in different contexts. I avoid gender essentialism in how I am exploring these concepts as well. Gender is multifaceted and socially constructed, and I am looking for more specific atomized ways of looking at people's relationship to being and expression. AAPT mostly only relates to gender in terms of how certain kinds of relating, or power dynamics have been stereotyped as relating to certain genders.
I credit Northrup for her original application of Yin and Yang to fashion. I also owe a lot of my aesthetic awareness, and the foundations of this system to later innovators in the Yin Yang style tradition like McJimsey, Kitchener, Kibbe, and Schemmel. As much as I think it's important to have a body-neutral space for exploring personality and style, there's a lot of nuanced insights in systems that focus more of physicality too. These systems have interesting points about making particular visual impacts, different ways of relating to your body, exploring different aspects of identity, and navigating societal expectations. At the same time I'm critical of focusing on ascribing archetypes or personality traits to body shapes, or constraining expression or joy by focusing on body shape.
AAPT is focused on inner beauty first and foremost. AAPT isn't built to give tips on how to dress for your body. I may make posts with advice on how to use AAPT for style, or common associations with fashion elements. However, it isn't the foundation of the system, and AAPT isn't here to give constraints. As a personality system AAPT is an exploration of some differences in preferred ways of moving and relating to oneself in the world. As a framework it helps people articulate which ways feel more or less pleasurable, enlivening and resonant. It also serves as a framework that helps people integrate different ways of relating to themselves and others they have an antagonistic or unconscious relationship with. Despite each persons’ unique emphasis on parts of the range of who someone can be in relation to power and vulnerability, accessing the full range of sensation and regulation there is core to a sense of wholeness and flourishing.
AAPT works as a description of core long-term motivators for style. It is useful for exploring what people feel is authentic to their empowered self and resonant with their yearnings in life. While I think certain kinds of styles can be more congruent with people's internal experience, fashion is very situational and cultural as well. I encourage people to be able to experiment and play with style and expression lifelong, rather than feel they need to quickly land on an identity or consistent presentation that might be restrictive.
Aesthetic Aspirations
I've shifted from the Yin Yang of other systems' framing to alternative conceptualization because I believe they are more specific and carry less gendered cultural baggage. Instead of Essences like other systems have labeled similar phenomena, I chose to refer to them as Aspirations in my system to reflect a focus on them as active processes and ways of relating people taken on rather than an innate state. I've also used terminology for the aspirations I believe are gender expansive, inclusive, and intuitively graspable.
The Aspirations in AAPT are as follows:
Innocent: soft, cute, dependent, delicate, gentle, and guileless
Charming: interest in enticing activities, and eliciting desire and pleasure in themselves and others. Charming Aspiration can seem alluring, captivating, titillating and warmly inviting.
Visionary: inspirational, entrancing, wise, otherworldly, sagacious, mystical
Mischevious: light-hearted mischief, boisterous, fun-seeking, silly, and frisky
Hardy: tough, wants to be strong for themselves and others, focus on sturdiness, endurance, strength, asserting one’s capacities onto the environment.
Sovereign:commanding, forceful, imperious, and powerful
Formal: balanced, regimented, orderly, even, controlled, and refined
The Aspirations are based on two different lenses.
The first lens is Attunement vs Opposition as two contrasting modes of framing interactions with oneself and one's environment. Attunement Aspirations share a soft responsivity, a focus on attracting towards oneself what it deems valuable, and a strong sensitivity towards latent, delicate and idealistic matters. Opposition Aspirations share a hard edged directive focus, a focus on taking action on its environment, and an awareness of what ways it can push and make use of objects and people around it
The second lens is Scales of Agency. Those framings of scales of interaction being Personal, Relational, and Transcendental. Personal Aspirations are focused on what is located in the self and how that self is impacted in the here and now. Relational Aspirations are focused on building out, managing, and proactively shaping their environment. Trascendental Aspirations  are focused on the meta-framing of encapsulating power dynamics, the context that shapes the flows of influence and prioritization within a domain.
These lenses generate the Aesthetic Aspirations as follows:
Personal + Opposition = Mischevious
Relational + Opposition = Hardy
Transcendental + Opposition = Sovereign
Personal + Attunement = Innocent
Relational + Attunement = Charming
Transcendental + Attunement = Visionary
Relational + Balance = Formal
3 Layers
There are three layers which independently have different Aspiration stackings. Aspiration stackings are the ordering of Aspirations that describe who one is. The three layers are:
Layer A: Lifestyle
In this layer what people’s sense of preferred activities is articulated, it often relates to the kind of career someone wants, as well as the purpose of the activities one likes to take on.
Layer B: Affiliation:
This is the layer of camaraderie, friendship, typical presentation, and the specialized roles or flavorings in the activities and interactions one prefers to focus on.
Layer C: Intimacy:
This layer articulates the flavoring and roles one prefers among chosen family, and lovers. It articulates any other relationships or kind of activities that defines the core of what home is to someone, or a kind of sublime renewal of oneself.
Stackings, Accentuation, and Baseline
In each of the 3 layers people first identify Accentuated and Unaccentuated Then people rank their Accentuated Aspirations in each. People can have different amounts of Accentuated Aspirations.
An example typing would be
A: Innocent, Mischievous, Hardy, Formal
B: Sovereign, Innocent, Formal, Visionary, Charming, Hardy, Mischievous
C: Charming, Mischievous, Innocent
All the seven Aspirations are fundamental to a life that is wholly lived. However, some are Accentuated in the sense there is a clear active desired intensification and identification of self with that energy. Everyone can be mischievous, everyone has innocence, it is healthy for people to be connected to all 7 Aspirations as part of their regulation. This connection to all 7 Aspirations in a healthy balanced way that enables self-regulation and wholeness is crucial and I will be referring it as the Baseline Integration of each Aspiration. In future posts I will further elaborate on what having or lacking Baseline Integration of each Aspiration looks like. However, not everyone feels these as an aspect of self they wish to accentuate as part of their creative being beyond a foundational sense.
There's an unmitigatedness to the Accentuated Aspirations. Accentuated Aspirations are a core aesthetic in the sense that they describe a kind of beauty that people feel drawn to resonantly fully embody. Not superficial beauty but the kind of beauty that feels like a shining emanation of someone's self-determination and vital self expression. When one of the Aspirations are Unaccentuated, there is a neutrality or aversion towards it as an actively maximized way of being. To be clear people can feel adverse because of trauma or shame, but from a self knowing and empowered awareness there can still be internal incongruence.
There are patterns to how different positions within a ranking manifest. The primary Aspiration of each layer establishes the overall tone that people maximize. It is the most strongly identified and expressed. The secondary Aspiration frequently combines with the primary Aspiration for a particular spin on the primary Aspiration's agenda. It is also flexibly and loosely engaged for its own sake. The tertiary Aspiration is more subdued but still obviously flavors the overall impression. In spikes of activity it will often be engaged on its own terms for variety. The quaternary Aspiration and those that follow tend to be subtle. These Aspirations have a low, deemphasized, sustained baseline, or are brought in for contrast from usual way of being. The quinary Aspiration and onward are often hard to notice but have a subtle sense of deepening a sense of wholeness of being. These descriptions apply to the number of Aspirations people have in the first place, some people may only have a few Aspirations in a layer.
Tumblr media
For those who are interested in interpersonal compatibility, in AAPT people have an AAPT dual which they can hypothesize, explore, and type. It can be homogeneous with one's own type or heterogeneous. It can really be any type. I've seen all kinds of unique complementary pairings. Authority Chain
The Authority Chain characterizes a bidirectional flow of consent and influence, with a Foundational end and an Executive end. In a duality or otherwise interaction of two people. The Aspiration towards the Foundational end has the role of accentuating sensitivities, pluripotent potentiality, and capacity for regrowth, insurrection and rebellion. In the integrated baseline sense Aspirations on the Foundational end support the capacity for connection, renewal, creativity, and freedom, and lead by embodying these values. Foundational aspirations have a bottom-up approach in these senses. The Aspiration towards the Executive end has the role of accentuating consolidating factors, path-finding, hosting and configuring spaces towards particular ends, and utilizing power. In the integrated baseline sense Aspirations on the Executive end support the capacity for efficacy, control, and intensification and collection of power. The Executive end embodies a top-down approach. In a duality or other desired interaction of two people, the person with the aspiration closer to the Foundational end is the Foundation, and the person closer to the Executive end will be referred to as the Executive. If the two people are the same aspiration, they will be referred to as identicals. At the same time I want people to keep in mind each interaction of two aspirations have unique qualities that have unique flavoring and potentials outside of the Authority Chain. Also, people who have integrated Aspirations are whole people who have the potential for interaction beyond this bi-directional pattern, and often times the positive capacities of each end will not be actualized, or done so in a toxic way if Aspirations are baseline unintegrated. Foundational <- I-M-C-F-H-V-S -> Executive Conclusion
I want to elaborate on how AAPT overlaps with gendered phenomena and the ways it doesn't. Gender norms often keep people from fully expressing who they are in an AAPT sense. And a lot of what gendered styles or presentations are communicating can be explained using AAPT. However, AAPT does not encapsulate what gender is entirely. It does articulate aspects of self that are often assigned to gender, particularly those related to power dynamics and softness or firmness.
AAPT is an affirmation of the body-neutral beauty that is in each person that emanates out in joyful, self-determined, powerful expression. I hope that AAPT can help people reflect on parts of themselves that are often policed or suppressed by society. I believe that the right self reflection frameworks can be an empowering tool to liberate oneself from shame-based expectations and gain agency. Additionally, resonating with these kinds of foundational ways of being in the world can be a source of joy and nourishment that unfortunately many people are disconnected from.
You're beautiful just because you are~ ✧・゚: *✧・゚:*:・゚✧*:・゚✧

Jennie: Kibbe Analysis
This is a random topic I'm extremely passionate about and I've been working on this hypothesis for a long time. This is going to be a little long so bear with me besties 😌
Jennie is often typed as a Flamboyant Gamine/FG in Kibbe communities and I think this is dead wrong. She's clearly a Theatrical Romantic/TR.
Flamboyant Gamines are described as having a straight narrow build and kind of athletic. Curves are minimal.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are pictures of Jennie at a normal weight. Her body is fuller, lush and rounded. She's lost a lot of weight this year so she looks very underweight rn. Its easy to tell from these pictures that her weight is stored in her chest, hips and thighs. Her face is fuller and her cheeks are round when she's at a more normal weight.
Her build is neither straight nor narrow and she most definitely does not have an "athletic build".
In fact she was one of the few Kpop idols who had a healthier-looking body but she's very underweight right now😩
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just compare these two looks to each other. She looks good in the black outfit but awful in the yellow/white one. Why? Because she's not wearing her lines or honouring her essence.
All TRs have Romantic/Dramatic/Ingenue essence and so does Jennie. When she wears light, pastel colours, shapeless outfits and "cutesy" accessories, she looks very washed out and unlike herself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look at these outfits and how they make her shine. Its her Dramatic essence that makes her give off these boss bitch vibes. Even in the bottom two outfits where she's wearing jeans and a pant suit in the other, the colors, the fit, the styling enhances her Romantic/Dramatic/Ingenue essence and makes her really stand out.
Its her Ingenue essence that makes her look so babyish and look younger than she is.
Tumblr media
However, despite her babyface she does not look purely innocent. She has that femme fatale charm and magnetism.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(L to R)
Joan Collins, Mila Kunis
Selena Gomez & Jennie
The other 3 are Kibbe verified Theatrical Romantics and look at all of their faces together. They clearly project a similar quality. All of them have very seductive "bedroom" eyes, full lush faces that are very youthful looking. There's an undeniable magnetism to all of them. They all clearly fit the Romantic Dramatic Ingenue essence.
Tumblr media
This is what Jennie wore to the Met Gala this year. This outfit clearly shows how you can wear your lines and still not honour your essence. This look is too cutesy for Jennie. It honours her Romantic-Ingenue essence but not her powerful Dramatic essence.
Compare the above outfit to the two outfits below. She looks so elegant, ladylike and poised in these. It seems to bring out a very different side to her. She does not look out of place or "plain" in these.
The thing with Kibbe IDs like Theatrical Romantic/Soft Dramatic is that its very hard to play down the glamour of the ID. They are by nature so extravagant and luxurious. So in an outfit that's even a notch below the mark, these individuals look very drab and boring.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look at these 3 outfits and compare them with her looks from above. All 3 are very Gamine lewks but they do not flatter her in the slightest. She simply looks out of place in these clothes.
It goes against her ID and her essence.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
However in the last few years there's been a clear departure to her earlier style and she seems to prefer to dress like a Gamine
TRs have a femme fatale essence, this can overwhelm others
Gamines have a sweeter, gentler presence that is not as overpowering.
In the past when Jennie still dressed according to her ID. She often received a lot of flak for being "YG's Princess", "Ice Queen" and was heavily bullied online for her perceived attitude and style.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just look at the confident boss bitch aura she radiates even in these casual outfits that bring out her Dramatic essence and look at the ones above where she looks gentler and less intimidating.
She rarely even wears makeup these days which is just sad. Considering the hate she received so early on in her career it makes sense as to why she'd downplay her style so heavily and try to appear "softer" and meeker. Its truly sad that a woman has been villainized to such an extent that she feels the need to change her own image.
This is the power of Image Identity. I'll make another post about how several celebs have successfully incorporated their IDs to sell their image and what changing ID looks like.
Tumblr media
These are all outfits she wore on tour this year and last year and you can tell that she's clearly trying to appear more cutesy and girly. However they are not very harmonious on her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
these are just a few of her old outfits but look at how good she looks in these outfits!!
✨her aura✨is unmatched, she looks fierce and powerful and completely in charge; no wonder the netizens were pissed.
Given the rumours about Blackpink's potential disbanding, I am intrigued to see how her style will change and develop when she has the independence to be herself and not worry about outshining others or "standing out too much".

Dramatic
Academia Fashion - Kibbe
Dramatic types have a long vertical line, may be tall, and have sharp straight silhouettes. They suit structured, tailored, long lines. And often suit dark colours. I believe dramatics are well suited to tailored, dark academia, corporate work-wear, menswear-inspired style academia fashion. Academia pieces I recommend for dramatics: tailored suits, long trench coats, patterned sweaters, leather blazers, long skirts dark coloured clothing, heavy fabrics and geometric patterns.

Kibbe is a trip bc you go from hating your body for how your fatass lower body needs to be accommodated to hating how you're too mannish tall and flat chested to find proper accommodation for your lower body

I’m not sure if I’m a kibbe romantic but I’ve got at least a very yin-leaning bodytype. which explains why heavy straight cut fabrics look bulky and weird on me. including softer, more flowing fabrics means you can have a yin-leaning bodytype without having to dress hyperfeminine but still not looking “sloppy”

hey! i saw that you were interested in fashion and styling and kibbe and i was wondering if you have thoughts on soobin and yeonjun switching outfits for the act sweet mirage finale soundcheck? i thought it was super interesting how the same outfits ended up having a completely different vibe when worn on different people! (this is all in good fun ofc, no shade to either member and they were such good sports for doing the switch)
Hi! omg thanks so much for this question!! I thought it was really cute and silly of them to switch entire outfits when they said they’d be styling each other for soundcheck. it’s so TXT 😂
As for the difference in vibes despite them wearing the exact same outfit, if we’re going by particular styling systems then Seasonal Color analysis and Kibbe typing come into play!
I just wanna preface this by saying that I while I do have an interest in Kibbe typing and styling as a whole but I’m not entirely sure what their Kibbe types are. I had some initial thoughts about sookai’s Kibbe types a few months back but haven’t really done a full-on analysis for any of them (though I’d really like to!! 🙈)
While I’m leaning towards Soft Dramatic (vertical + curve) for Soobin, I can’t pin down Yeonjun’s Kibbe type. But he might be a very slim Flamboyant Natural (vertical + width) in my eyes. Will try to expound on this a little bit later!
With all that aside, let’s try to break down their looks below the cut! Be forewarned that it's going to be lengthy bc of all the photos and side discussions 😅
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Top-bottom: Day 1 soundcheck (source) | Day 2 soundcheck (source)
I'm already seeing how differently the pieces fall on each of them. Yeonjun's original outfit appears to fall more smoothly on his body, whereas on Soobin, the fabric appears to bunch up and gather around his midsection more. This could potentially be due to Soobin being taller/having a longer torso so the blue-gray button down ends higher on his body than it does on Yeonjun.
While they both have slim waists, I think Yeonjun being short waisted/having longer legs and Soobin having a fuller 🍑, also contributes to how differently the fabric falls on them, despite both being tall and slim.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First pic (source) | Second pic (source)
With Soobin being the taller of the two, you would think that he could wear all the fabric with no problem, but seeing these photos side by side, he seems to be a little overwhelmed by Yeonjun's outfit.
This, I believe is where their Kibbe types come into play. As mentioned earlier, I suspect Yeonjun could be an FN, and Soobin is a potential SD.
Flamboyant Naturals or FNs are considered to be frame-dominant. This allows them to wear flowing, unstructured pieces without being swallowed by all the fabric, as their body structure is able to provide... well, the structure that would showcase the pieces clearly. This is partially why FN models ruled the catwalks during the 90s -- their body structure allowed for you to focus on the clothing, rather than the body, leading to the "human hanger" moniker that supermodels were given around that time.
Going back to Yeonjun, their recent content (particularly the abundance of sleeveless Yeonjun appearances we've had this year) made me realize just how broad he is, despite being so slim. Just look at how the fleece jacket fits on him (suspected Flamboyant Natural) versus Beomgyu (suspected Soft Classic)!
Tumblr media
Or compare how Yeonjun's top falls on his body, particularly the shoulders, versus that of Soobin in a Tinnitus stage.
Tumblr media
(Side note: the GBGB/Tinnitus/DBTW stage also really highlights their different frames, given the rather simple cuts and fabrics for their costumes. It's a helpful reference for kibbe typing imo, along with their encore outfits as they usually wear the same pieces)

First pic (source) | Second pic (source)
Going back to the outfit swap, I think the elements of Yeonjun's original outfit work well on him as he has the vertical and the width to pull off the long layers and the looser fitting fabrics. Denim is also a popular material for Naturals as it has some structure but is not overly stiff. The distressed details also add to that rawness that Naturals can pull off well.
That same outfit on Soobin, on the other hand, doesn't look quite as harmonious, as Soft Dramatics tend to shine more in pieces that accommodate their vertical and curve. The flannel shirt being under the long top just made him look wider on the bottom versus if it were acting like an external belt that could have defined his waist. Coupled with the baggy distressed jeans, it just made him look rather unbalanced and visually weighs him down.
Accessories also play a role in the different vibes we get from the outfit swap. Yeonjun's piercings help to tie in the grunge styling. If Soobin wore Yeonjun's outfit with a few more accessories (maybe adding pins to the beanie or some jewelry, idk), it could look more like a complete outfit for him bc from the waist up, he looks a little plain, IMO, and that does nothing for a Soft Dramatic like him!!
Tumblr media
(source)
Soobin's original outfit suits him better as a Soft Dramatic as it honors his vertical (monochrome palette, long pieces) and curve (large collar and the leather coupled with a textured trim adds visual interest or "drama" that he can pull off).

231202 Soundcheck (source)
Consider how different Soobin and Taehyun's vibes are despite having similar outfits on. Soobin's jacket looks visually "fuller" (fabric has a heavier visual weight compared to Taehyun's) but it does not overwhelm him as he has the build for it. It also ends by his waist (compared to midhip for Taehyun) which helps to draw the eye in to his curves -- again honoring his Soft Dramatic lines.
Black is also well within Soobin's color palette as a Winter type so the look is very cohesive overall! (Lighter grays/blues, like Yeonjun's shirt, aren't as flattering on Soobin as these could make him appear a little washed out or dull)
Soobin's outfit on Yeonjun still works as he has the vertical and the frame to pull it off. IMO however, the jacket looks a tad oversized on Yeonjun which contributes to the more "relaxed" vibe on him versus on Soobin (where it is a closer fit to the body) and makes him look more.. dominating(?) in a sense.
Tumblr media Tumblr media

When Yeonjun took off the jacket, people somehow went crazier 😂 And I get why! The shirt showcases his build, rather than being covered up by a visually bulky jacket.
By removing the jacket too, it allowed for more focus on his face. I think Yeonjun might be a Summer type so black would take away from his features. Lighter colors are more flattering for him (another factor in why his original outfit doesn't seem to be so overwhelming on him) but he and the rest of TXT are all ridiculously good looking, it's hard to make them look unattractive 😂 I'm still a bigger fan of their orig outfits though 🙈
TL;DR: Yeonbin's original soundcheck outfits honor their Kibbe types and personal colors more than when they switched but since they're both tall, broad (but in different ways!), and just stupidly handsome, the outfit switches still kinda work bc they have elements that work to their Kibbe types.
If you've made it this far, thank you so much for reading!! Let me know your thoughts on their outfits, if you'd want to see more pieces like this from me, or just anything you'd like to share about TXT fashion and/or styling! 🫶
