Kise having no concept of privacy will always be hilarious, why are you staring so intensely at your teammate changing clothes?

And the way Akashi is so unbothered by it, does he have to deal with this all the time?

Akashi for the ship tier list please, because i'm very predictable
I knew I could count on you to give me want I want(ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
Tumblr media
Ok Im not going to give a long explanation about each ship. But I totally am going to give an explanation about most of them.
Senpai♡♡♡: My top 1(they share a position) ships with Akashi, his first captain(and love) and his shadow. I could go on a rant about why they both make such good pairs but then this post would exceed 100,000 words. Ill just conclude by saying that they are top tier(literally)
SS+: MidoAka & TakaAka(they are a package deal) are absolutely adorable. I live both of them Individually but I prefer TakaAka along witb Mido(because MidoTakaAka is superior)
MibuAka: Ive already explained my thoughts on these two about a 100 times so ill just summarize. Both of them love each other so much it doesnt even matter whether its romantic or platonic. Reo just cares about Akashi so much and Akashi views Reo as someone so special to him its just a very good ship.
NashAka: Nash has a crush on Akashi. Enough said.
AoAka: Also have spoken about them quite a bit. Their friendship is so sweet and they have so much trust and faith in each other. They think so highly of eachother. Plus that dialogue in the kuroko's birthday ova was very cute.
KiAka: Very cute and fluffy pairing. Akashi saw Kise's potential from the beginning and encourage him to grow. Kise would definitely include akashi in a bunch of them and make him happy.
SS: This post is getting very long and I want to talk more about the other tiers so ill just include all of them here. All of these ships are very cute and Akashi would benefit a lot from these relationships. The friendships alone are great and the characters themselves are some of Akashi's greatest friends. Riko and Akashi would be a spectacular duo and im not elaborating any further.
I read one fic about these and I see the vision: I read a HanaAka fic(Beyond the waiting room and its sequel by sweet rosei) and I absolutely adored it. It does not only have the ship but it also talks about akashi's mental health, the selectivism about violence and Hanamiya's violence as well. Overall great fic 10/10 would recommend. Im definitely more open to this ship because of it.
OgiAka is a very special ship. I imagine that after the winter cup the GoM apologise to Ogiwara for the 111-11 match and afterwards Ogiwara asks akashi whether he likes basketball and this time Akashi says yes and I think it would be a very cute moment between the two.
Brothers: I know that AkaAka is a ship(pretty weird if you ask me) but I really cant see them as anything other than brothers. They love and care for each other more than anything. Bokushi was created to protect Oreshi and would do anything for him. One of my favorite things about them is thr character song "Return" when Akashi says " Now along with my other self" or something along those lines and its just so sweet that Oreshi is bringing his little brother with him on his healing journey.
Polyam: NijiHaiAka and MuraHimuAka that is all
Respect it but no thanks: Ive already explained my thoughts on AkaFuri before. All I will say is that I prefer their friendship more than their romantic relationship. Mostly because the fandom ruined it for me.
Soulbonded: Akashi and Kuroko's relationship cannot be justified with a word as simple as romance. Their bond is so deep it goes deeper than the mariana trench.
This still ended up being long as hell. Oh well

My collection groooows
Left to right:
The Complete Arthurian Encyclopedia
Gallant & True (an Arthurian zine I think I backed on Kickstarter at some point, it’s BEAUTIFUL)
The Mabinogian (Sioned Davies translation)
Black Book of Carmarthen
Geoffrey of Monmouth’s History of the Kings of Britain (Faletra translation, also includes Vita Merlini and a bunch of excerpts from various texts eg Nennius)
The Lais of Marie de France (Waters translation)
Lanzelet (I tried reading it. I’ll try again. It’s so dry)
Chretien de Troyes: Lancelot, Erec and Enide, Yvain, Cliges (Ruth Harwood Cline verse translation, I only just now realized they’re out of order, it’s gonna bug me but not enough to fix it and take another picture)
Perlesvaus (Nigel Bryant)
Lancelot-Grail books 1-10 (including Post-Vulgate and chapter summaries)
Silence (Le Roman de Silence)
An Introduction to the Gawain Poet (Putter)
Le Morte d’Arthur (Keith Baines version)
Of Giants (look, Cohen posted some beautifully gay Galehaut/Lancelot and Green Knight and Gawain commentary excerpts on Tumblr and I couldn’t resist)
Arthurianism in Early Plantagenet England (recommended to me by someone who almost did her doctoral thesis on this topic until learning she’d been beaten to it by this text—a history of Arthurianism including the larping that a bunch of nobility did. It just arrived in the mail, I haven’t read it yet)
The Goddodin (Gillian Clarke version; not pictured on the shelf because it’s on my poetry shelf instead. It’s so beautifully translated though, highly recommend Clarke’s version)
Also not pictured: anything I have in ebook format (Tolkien’s translation of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, various modern fiction)
And then there’s the Arthurian adjacent and medieval and Renaissance stuff that isn’t really Arthurian but it’s related, so same shelf.
Return to Avalon (short story collection, modern, found at a used book store, why not)
The Book of Chivalry of Geoffrey de Charny (picked this up as a larpwriting reference forever ago, it’s a fascinating read)
Various editions of the Compleat Anachronist, the SCA’s publication
Life in a Medieval City by Gies (I don’t actually remember where I got this or why I have it or if it’s any good. I’m guessing it was another larpwriting reference)
The Book of the Courtier - Castiglione (larp prop and larpwriting reference, actually a really neat read)
Prism Knights by Winter J Kiakas (queer knight short story collection)
Letter Writing in Renaissance England (got this used as a larpwriting reference and it has been SO USEFUL and so fascinating!)

Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan: ★★★★✩

Percy Jackson: The Battle of the Labyrinth by Rick Riordan: ★★★★✩ (just stop it with the jealousy between girls jfc)
Percy Jackson: The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan: ★★★★✩ (didn’t remember the ending at all, was surprised by how okay I was with it)

Sanity Circus
It’s a surreal fantasy horror webcomic by Winter Jay Kiakas and Tas Mukanik (AKA Windy & Wallflower).
In the city of Sanity, you can meet and experience a lot of things, like magic and sorcery, demons, disembodied clowns, animal-shifting creatures, sentient instrument people, and a recently assassinated director, but none of that is as important as one of the residents of Sanity, Attley Grimshaw. She’s just a normal kid living her life in this oddball of a city when she’s suddenly thrust into danger after learning her newly made friend, Posey, is a scarecrow—creatures created to feast on the fears and phobias of humans. Now on the run, Attley seeks some answers to understand her current situation as she meets other strange friends, allies, and enemies in hopes of learning what exactly is going on in Sanity City.
It’s a decent premise for a comic that’s a little hard to follow in some areas and a challenge to skim and understand fully without pouring more thoughts into the setting and rules than expected. While featuring violence and an average level of body horror, it still tries to have some feelings of levity and a balance of story twists as it goes on, although it could do with some better chapter lengths. The art and character designs might put you off a little, though.
“Put you off a little” is an understatement. What underbelly of Cartoon Network was this artstyle made in???
The premise sounds decent, but art certainly holds this comic back. It also seems like this comic uses gore for shock value related reasons as opposed to actual thematic reasons. This might hurt me more than I expect

Kuroko no Basket
Summery: Kise wants to know why everyone finds Akashicchi so scary when the other has always been so kind to him
Drabble
Kise adored Akashi.
Not because he was amazing at basketball, not because he was a genius, hell not even because he was his captain.
Kise adored Akashi, because the latter was kind to him, and something about the cold genius going out of his way to speak so softly and gently to him made Kise want to stand by his side forever.
The copycat athlete remembers when he first met his captain. Really met him. He was the vice-captain back then, and almost everyone had been terrified of him. Kise had wanted to know why, so after practice he sought him out. Determination gleaming in his eyes.
“Why is everyone so afraid of you?” he had asked bluntly. Standing in front of the shorter boy with arms crossed and the barest hint of a frown adorning his face.
Akashi’s bright red eyes had turned away from the water bottle in his hand to fixate on his face.
The vice-captain blinked owlishly at him. “Huh?” he asked. Face still drenched in sweat and chest still heaving slightly from the after effect of the strenuous practice.
“Why is everyone so afraid of you Akashi-kun,” he repeated, sauntering closer and leaning down to examine the shorter boy’s face as if the secrets of the world were hidden in the depth of his eyes.
Suddenly a hand shot out, grabbing the model's face and squawking his cheeks together. “Personal space Kise,” the vice-captain muttered, shaking the blonde's face from side to side.
“Ouch, ouch, ouch,” Kise mumbled between Akashi’s oppressing hand. “Sorry Akashi-kun!”
The other boy let out a soft huff, before releasing him and taking an elegant step back.
Kise frowned at him, lips jutting out petulantly as he rubbed some feelings back into his cheeks.
“Akashi-kun so mean!” he exclaimed; eyes bright with dramatic, unshed tears.
The genius just lifted a single eye brow at that. “What do you want Kise-kun?” he asked.
Stopping the gentle message he was administering against his face, Kise pouted at his vice-captain. “I just wanted to know why everyone’s so scared of you is all,” he mumbled.
“Oh?”
“Yeah, people keep telling me to stay away from you and not to disturb you from your work and stuff, but I don’t understand. If you’re our vice-captain, shouldn’t we come to you freely with any worries and troubles we might have concerning basketball?”
Akashi blinked. And then the corner of his lip twitched the tiniest bit, before he huffed in what Kise almost thought was laughter, before he clapped a firm hand across his mouth and turned away slightly.
“Akashi-kun?” Kise asked softly.
The redhead just waved his other hand at him dismissively, before finally turning back around, meeting Kise’s confused face with a tiny smile.
‘Oh,’ Kise thought, dumbstruck. 'That’s the first time I’ve seen Akashicchi smile, and it’s directed at me?’
Something warm bloomed in his chest, and he found himself returning the soft smile with a large one of his own.
Suddenly, Akashi’s hand shut out again, and Kise instinctively flinched back. Afraid to find his face between that iron grip again, but instead those pale fingers came to rest gently atop of his head.
Kise’s eyes widened, as the supposed to be scary captain lightly patted his head. A rather content look on his face. “You’re not scared of me are you Kise-kun?” he asked, hand unmoving now, but fingers still resting comfortably atop of the taller boy’s hair.
Kise pursed his lip in thought. “No?” he finally answered.
Akashi grinned at him then. Not a full-blown toothy smile, but just wide enough to show off his canine's. “Then you can come to me with anything, Kise-chan,” he said. “I wouldn’t mind listening to your troubles at all.”
Freezing for the split second it took for him to absorb his vice-captain's words, Kise remained unmoving. Limbs locked in place as his teammate's words sank into his mind.
The second it dawned on him on him what that meant however, he was up and moving. Arms reaching out to glob the living daylight out of the shorter man.
Maybe he caught his vice-captain by surprise, maybe the other man didn’t think he would actually do it, or maybe he didn’t mind, but when Kise’s arms came around to gently embrace the genius, Akashi didn’t move away or push him aside. He just stood there and let the blonde hug him senseless. An unmistakable chuckle of amusement escaping his lips.
“They are all wrong about you Akashicchi!” Kise proclaimed loudly into Akashi’s neck where his face was currently resting. “You’re not scary at all! Not at all!”
Hugging his vice-captain close, Kise tried with all his might to convey this message across. Akashicchi wasn’t scary, he shouldn’t think he frightened all people if he didn’t. Kise wanted him to know that he was kind and respectable and cool and awesome and everything in-between because he was!
A hand came to settle on his hair again. The unmistakable gentleness of Akashicchi surrounding Kise like a safety blanked. “You can count on me Kise-chan,” the genius muttered next to his ear.
Kise nodded against his shoulder. “And you can count on me too Akashicchi!”
“I know.”
Kise smiled. Akashicchi wasn’t scary at all. He was actually really really kind, and Kise would gladly stay by his side forever.

You probably saw this coming but Akashi for the ship tier list please!
Akashi ships tier list
Tumblr media
I WAS WAITING FOR THIS ONE.
From one day to another the tiers S and A are subject to change. It depends on which ships i thought the most about recently i guess.
Nijimura and S tier : I've talk so much about their relationships with Akashi already so i'll focus on the other ships here.
A tier : AoAka lives in my head rent free, the way Aomine has so much faith his Akashi and his ability, the way Akashi is immediately reassured by Aomine's words during Extra game. They're just so great both platonically and romantically.
KiAka is just so good, i wouldn't know how to explain it, but it's just so fluffy and cute. Kise is the kind of person Akashi needs in his life and the reverse is also true. Akashi immediately saw Kise true potential and trusted in his ability to copy all of them and become the perfect player, which is what Kise needed at the time. My brain doesn't want to work right now so i can't explain it more but i love them.
I already talked about AkaMomo a lot but i'm too lazy to look for the post, so here the short version. Momoi has a blind faith in Akashi, not only in the basketball field but with literally everything else. Their interactions are all adorable and Akashi is also the one who discovered Momoi's abilities. They would be an unstoppable ship and the GoM would have to stay friend forever thanks to their combined planning.
The only reason Kise, Aomine and Momoi aren't higher here is because I ship all of them really hard with someone else, so i don't think a lot about their ships with Akashi.
B tier : KagaAka is great, first there is so many similarities between them, they only have their (absent) father, they started playing basketball because it was the only way for them to form bonds with people, they care so much about other people and are basically always like 'What can i do to help you 🥺' with their friends. And their friendship in extra game was really cute. Let's not forget that in the movie, Akashi travelled for ~8 hours during a school day to see Kagami off at the airport.
I already talked about Hayama and Akashi friendship too, and really, everything i said about their friendship would apply to their ship too, they are just really great together.
Same for Riko and Akashi, they would be perfect best friend so of course they would work as a ship too. And their interactions are all super cute even if we don't have a lot of them. Especially in replace +.
C tier : Nebuya is a great friend of Akashi so they would be cute as a ship too. And Ogiwara's discussion with Akashi (which is a lot longer in the manga) has so much potential, but since i haven't looked too deeply into it (yet) they are only in C tier.
* There is no difference between the ships in the same row, meaning if they are both in the same tier no matter where they are on the tier i love them equally (ex MibuAka and MuraAka)

“He was supposed to be writing. He could hear the words violently whirring about in his mind. A swarm of bees, a flock of crows… No. A murder. A murder of crows”
My kickstarter reward for J.Kiakas’ VVV trilogy just came through today and I couldn’t be more excited. It’s a project by one of my favourite illustrators, and really ticks all of the boxes on the list of my favourite aesthetic choices.
I urge you all to check out her stuff at jkiakas.com, and also read her webcomic BadMouth which is fantastic in my opinion.

Turkish ladies of fashion
On our return we met with a very uncommon kind of vehicle, much resembling a covered cart, which is used by the Turkish ladies of fashion, who are seated in it cross-legged on a mat. I perceived ten in the one I met, stowed together in such a manner that they must have suffered extremely from the heat, as there was but one small window to admit the air. I was informed that this fine equipage, drawn by two buffaloes, was the property of a renegado who was formerly a rich French merchant, and having failed, thought proper to change his religion in order to meliorate his circumstances, in which he has so well succeeded that he is now able to keep seven wives and concubines without number. I could not help wondering or doubting whether his temperament had increased proportionately with his wealth and years.
At one I set off accompanied by Capt. F—1 to see the Grand Signior’s Barges. The Canal of Constantinople, from the entrance of the Harbour to the Towers at the head of the Black Sea, affords one of the finest coup-d’ceils in the world.
On entering the Harbour, there is on the left the Seraglio of the Grand Signior with its extensive gardens and lofty walls; afterwards you see the superb Mosques, raising their heads above the other buildings, which in Constantinople are generally but one or two stories high. On the right the view is terminated towards the “ Sweet waters,” by a magnificent Kiosk belonging to the Grand Signior, where he has likewise very extensive gardens. On the front, along the rising ground, is the Arsenal, Pera, Galata and the other suburbs of Constantinople.
European and Asiatic side
The beautifully situated town of Scutari also attracts the attention of the traveller, besides numberless other neat villages that extend the whole length of the Bosphorus, both on the European and Asiatic side, as far as the mouth of the Black Sea. The number of ships of all nations, besides Tartans, Schebecks, and the most magnificent Barges, with which the river is always covered, and the hundreds of Kiakas filled with ladies, with their proprietors going on parties of pleasure, give the most lively appearance to the scene ; and one cannot help regretting that so heavenly a spot should be in the possession of such barbarians. From the peculiar advantages of its situation, it is admirably well calculated to be the seat of the arts, as well as the emporium of the most extensive commerce. What a pity that with all these advantages this capital should be doomed to remain subject to a barbarous despot, whose character seems merely a compound of ignorance and tyranny.
