YES thank you for recognising payasam as the superior dessert as much as i love gulab jamun or rasgulla literally nothing beats payasam 😔🙏 (also psst which is ur favourite payasam)
RIGHT?! like, i love gulab jamun and rasgulla from the bottom of my heart, but:
payasam/kheer –> instant warmth. 💖
it's all about the homeliness, and delicate love and care. like a warm hug from your grandma. *sigh*
my absolute favs happen to be a simple rice payasam (i also ADORE a generous serving of gurer payesh) and kadala parupu payasam. they're simply *chef's kiss*

its already 3AM and this is all i could throw together but here you go @screamingfae
"Is it supposed to be like this?" Regulus shouted, leaning on his tiptoes to lift the lid off the pot, stirring the rice pudding. He was immediately hit with the scent of fresh cardamom and butter, making his mouth water.
"How am I supposed to see from here, you dolt?" An annoyed voice crackled from his phone which was kept across the counter, propped up against the spice box.
"I don't know why I even asked you," Regulus rolled his eyes and knelt so he was eye level with the phone.
"Oh please," Sirius waved his hand, exuding melodrama from the tiny little screen. "I’ve seen Effie cook. I know shit."
"Exactly. You know shit."
Sirius let out a scandalized gasp and whipped his head, yelling for Remus. "Can you believe what this bastard just said?"
Regulus could imagine Remus sighing loudly, setting down his book to rub the bridge of his nose. He had been caught in way too many silly arguments over the years. He was a veteran.
"Peter bought some ice cream. Better have it before he finishes it all," Remus said instead, as if Sirius was a child who could be placated by sugar.
Which he could. Sirius shot a glare at Regulus before handing his phone to Remus and running off to the kitchen, flinging the refrigerator doors wide. Remus and Regulus both winced as the door banged against the wall.
"Did you try calling Euphemia for help?" Remus ventured, unsure of how to proceed now. Even though he didn’t know much about cooking, at least he was some help unlike the person who shared his blood who was now eating the entire tub of ice cream.
Regulus flushed, tucking loose strands of his dark hair behind his ears.
"No, I don’t want to bother her. It’s – I want to make something special for James and for Effie. Mom, I mean. Wow, that sounds so weird," he rambled nervously, wringing his fingers without any thought. He coughed from what seemed to be the neighbors having barbeque.
Remus softened at that and shrugged, "I am pretty sure it’s done. The one Effie makes looks very close to this."
"But is it edible, that’s the question!" Sirius could be heard faintly, his mouth still full of ice cream. Honestly, how – and why – was Regulus even related to him.
"Thanks for not helping one fucking bit," Regulus sneered and before Sirius could say something snide that would spark yet another argument that Remus didn’t have enough sugar to deal with, he shot quick goodbye and hung up.
"What a lot of help that was," Regulus muttered to himself, and turned to check up on the kheer simmering on the stove.
Or whatever was left of it.
The creamy pudding was burnt to crisp, now smoke rising out of the pot. A lot of it had boiled over and splattered on the countertop and dripping on the floor. The smoke alarm started beeping loudly, setting off the sprinklers and raining down on the entire kitchen. And just then, what an absolutely horrible timing, the pressure cooker that had been making the biryani popped open, the lid flying to the ceiling and ricocheting wildly. Regulus ducked and screeched, crawling over the wet floor, ruining all his good clothes. Bits of food flew in his hair and on his clothes.
Oh gods, not again.
"I’m home!" a cheerful and a very familiar voice called out.
Regulus stilled, looking up to his husband who seemed to be towering over him now.
"Happy birthday, love?" he offered weakly.
"Oh, my," James breathed, taking in the crime scene and then to Regulus’ complete surprise, burst out laughing. Till now Regulus had never understood the phrase but now James literally doubled over, clutching his stomach and covering his mouth in a pathetic attempt to stop cracking up. He wiped aside the tears from his eyes and took in a couple of deep breaths to stop but to no avail.
Regulus grabbed the ladle from the rack and chased after James, "Stop" smack "laughing" smack "at" smack "me."
"I’m sorry. I can’t help it. What happened here?" with that he went off again till Regulus was also laughing with him, both collapsing on the dirty kitchen floor, their backs against the wall.
When they finally stopped, save for random snorts they tried to suppress, Regulus opened the refrigerator, presenting a tiny cupcake from his secret stash. He rummaged around the drawers until he found a candle and some matches, lighting it up.
Regulus held it in his cupped palms in front of James and whispered, "Make a wish, darling."
James inhaled deeply and then exhaled, blowing out the weak, fluttering candle in the process. He closed his eyes, holding Regulus’ wrist tight.
"Won’t you ask me what I wished for?" James grinned.
"If it’s another trip on the Ferris wheel, then the answer is no," Regulus said jokingly, nudging his knee with his own.
"I wished for us," James said quietly, a smile playing on his lips. "I love you."
"I love you more," Regulus rested his head on his shoulder, their fingers laced together.
It was the best way to spend the day even if it was sitting in the mess of their kitchen, eating cold, leftover pizza from Sunday game night. Regulus would give anything to bottle the moment forever and get drunk on it.
They were a mess, imperfectly perfect, chaotic at heart, kitchen wreckers but it was them. Together and forever.

OS: Hey, I Missed You
Whille being on bedrest for the past four days, I ended up writing this in the notes app. Thought to add it here as well just because! It’s currently available on my wordpress blog and india-forums. You can check out all my fan fictions here.
It was no secret to the members of the Raizada household that Arnav and Khushi were incapable of keeping their hands off each other. While generally, no one dared to stop Arnav from dragging his wife away from family gatherings, which Akash had found extremely unfair, the week before Diwali, everybody had collectively decided that they would rather die than let Arnav drag Khushi away, especially with multiple guests visiting and Khushi being the eldest bahu who possessed the zest for event management.
Manorama fretted over the new cushions on the couch before running over to straighten the curtains Hari Prakash had just hung when she saw Arnav walk into the house with Akash following behind. She was quick to call Akash over to help her out who did little to nothing to help her besides standing behind her as she rambled about no one caring that her sister was visiting. Arnav shook his head and muttered an 'unbelievable' before trying to find the one person he had been looking for. Khushi was standing near the mandir with a notepad in her hand and had just looked up.
She smiled at him as he tilted his head, silently asking him to follow her. She raised her eyebrows to try to insinuate that Mami might not let her go but he was insistent. She shrugged, putting the notepad on the table in the way before walking up to her. He leaned in to kiss her cheek. "Jija ji is here!" she punched him lightly on the arm. Arnav switched his laptop bag into the other hand before wrapping his arm around her waist as they two walked upstairs, hoping to remain unnoticed.
Unfortunately, they were noticed! "Oh ho Phatti Sari—matlab Khushi!", Manorama called out from the back!
"Just ignore Khushi!" Arnav mumbled into her ear.
Manorama rushed towards the stairs and noticed Arnav's arms around her. "Oh no Arnav bitwa, I need PhaKhushi betiya with me today!" She was quick to pull Khushi's other arm towards her and dragged her downstairs. —"You can have her back later!" she called out before directing Khushi to change the table covers in the room.
Arnav stood rooted to his spot for about a whole minute with Khushi casting stolen glances towards him with an apologetic face. Never before had someone just taken Khushi away from him like this. He slowly moved away, stunned to process any other thoughts.
---
Arnav came downstairs looking for his wife whom he hadn't properly seen in about a week's time. Manorama's sister and NK's mother, was coming back to India after about ten years and staying over with them for about a month. While Arnav had no objections to the arrangement when he was inquired about it thrice by both Anjali and Khushi respectively, he had begun questioning the setup after seeing that Payal and Khushi were held responsible for most of the whims Manorama was concerned about. He didn't understand why he paid salaries to an army of servants if everything was to befall upon his Khushi in the last minute.
He spotted Khushi sitting next to Nani ji and Mami, nodding along to instructions being given.
"Khushi, can you come upstairs!" he asked in front of the older ladies.
"Nahi Chotte, Khushi betiya ne abhi mandir saajana hai."
"What?!"
"Bitwa, she can't come right now."
"Why can't Payal do it? or Di? Di loves doing stuff like this!"
"Chotte!" Deviyani was visibly irritated, "Anjali betiya was fasting today, she's at the mandir herself. and Payal betiya is making kheer for tonight."
Khushi smiled at him unapologetically, as he stomped towards the study.
---
"pata nahi yeh Khushi kahan reh gai!" Payal mumbled irritated.
Payal and Anjali stood by the door, waiting for Khushi to rush. She had excused herself by saying that she needed to go to the bathroom and pick up her purse before they head out for gift shopping for the incoming guests, however it had been close to half an hour and they were contemplating going upstairs themselves to look for it.
They walked upstairs to find the door half ajar, and Khushi struggling whilst giggling, while being held by Arnav against the cupboard door.
The two women looked at each other before knocking and pushing the door open. "Arnav ji, chodiye!" she wasn't quite enough for the others to not hear.
"Chotte! Ghar me itna sara kam para hai! Diwali ki renovations and then NK bhai ki family aur tum Khushi ji ko neeche aane nahi de rahe ho!"
"Haan toh!" he replied indignantly.
"Haan toh kiya!" she snapped back before walking up close enough for his grip to loosen on Khushi's arm. Arnav gaped as his sister pulled away from his wife from him who clearly appeared more amused than upset at the dry spell this week had been for them. Payal tried being considerate to Arnav's gaping expression by saying sorry however it did little to help since she was barely able to contain her laughter at the predicament in front of her.
---
Arnav had decided to come home early, leaving tasks pending for the first time in perhaps six months so he was able to whisk Khushi away from everyone before dinner. He had miscalculated his steps since the arrival of the guests about five minutes before he entered the gates of Shantivan ensured that Payal and his wife would be held ransom until the guests were taken to their rooms.
He walked in to be greeted by NK who had previously left India only about three months ago. "Nannav! mere bhai! Did you miss me?"
Arnav grumbled a no and uncomfortably patted NK's back who had thrown his arms around him.
"How was the flight?" he inquired.
"Flight? Oh, it was great! Drank some champagne, watched some Harry Potter, dreamt about Khushi ji's jalebis!"
Arnav looked at him incredulously. If he could punch NK for talking about Khushi's food, he would but he knew that that would be quite unacceptable.
"Arnav ji!" Khushi breathed, excusing herself from the group to walk over to him. He smiled at her, hoping that she wouldn't be called back but before he could say anything, NK popped in between the two with a sneaky grin. "Come on guys, you see each other every day. Spend some time with us."
Khushi chuckled before meeting her husband's eyes who looked like he could chop someone's head off. NK made sure to poke Arnav a couple of times before walking away.
"Why don't you freshen up. We're going to set up for dinner."
"Are you coming upstairs?" he was about to lean in to kiss her cheek when the door opened behind him and Akash walked in to cheerfully greet his aunt and cousin from the entrance itself.
"I have to help Di and Jiji!" she replied apologetically. He sighed nodding and turned to see Akash holding Payal's hand while sitting next to NK.
About half an hour later, Arnav walked downstairs to seat himself for dinner. There were two empty seats were next to Akash at the end of the table, and one next to him. He pulled open his seat and pushed the one next to his for Khushi except an over-eager NK decided to seat himself. "Thanks, mere Bhai!"
It had taken all of his energy to politely nod along to any question asked of him during dinner before he excused himself. Khushi however, had become the life of the party alongside NK. He contemplated pulling her up from the seat but seeing that she was still eating, he tapped her shoulder and whispered, telling her he's waiting for her; before leaving.
---
It was past midnight when Khushi made an appearance in their bedroom. After pacing around for close to two hours, Arnav had fallen asleep without pulling the covers on himself. Khushi walked over towards him, moving the hair off his forehead to see if he was awake. She had found herself exceptionally busy in preparation for Mami's sister's entire family and with Diwali around the corner, she was sure that the weekend was going to go by just as fast. She heaved a sigh before walking over to pull out her nightclothes and walking into the bathroom.
Arnav found himself being roused out of sleep. For a moment he thought that he was imagining her touch, but the sound of lock and running sink water from the bathroom brought him out of the momentary haze. He sat up noticing the blanket tucked around him. Khushi walked out of the bathroom at the same instant.
"Aap jageh hue ho?"
She was about to get into the bed when he took her hand and pulled her towards him with as much force as he could muster so that she felt square onto him. She smiled, looking up at him and allowing herself to fall into the depths of warmth and love his eyes always seemed to welcome.
"I missed you," he whispered
"Me too," she replied
He leaned in, his hand holding onto hers, his lips slowly finding hers. They tasted like jalebis and barfis, the sweets she probably had been eating before. The kiss deepened as her hands wandered towards his torso and rested on his chest. Part of her wanted to pull away and fall asleep knowing the chores lined up for tomorrow but she had missed him so much throughout the week. He breathed in her scent before breaking away. He kissed her forehead before wrapping his arms around her as she pulled the blankets up for them. Her head fell from the crook of his elbow to his shoulder, her hands clutching onto his t-shirt, and in mere seconds she was snoring. He chuckled at her ability to fall asleep instantly and half of her body resting over his, as he himself closed his eyes welcoming the most peaceful sleep he was about to have in a week's time.

Find The mystery Valley of Manali
Manali is home to numerous attractions that can blow your mind, however probably the most intriguing ones lie in the folds of the Parvati Valley, Manali's concealed fortune.
Kheerganga (Khir Ganga) is a flawless goal in Himachal Pradesh, somewhere inside the Parvati Valley. The Kheerganga Trek is additionally a fan most loved of numerous trekkers. It is a simple two-day trek, appropriate for apprentices and ardent trekkers alike. Kheerganga is known for its lovely snow-topped mountains, wonderfully white and foggy through a large portion of the year, and for the Ganga itself. As the name proposes, the Ganga as it moves through this locale is a perfectly smooth white, taking after the shade of kheer.
The Kheerganga Trek is well-cherished on the grounds that it offers such a great amount to take in, understanding and appreciate. The climate in Kheerganga can shift over the seasons. It can get very cool, the temperature dropping into the negatives and making snowfall a typical thing, if not a conviction. Then again, the climate can likewise go up to about 45° Celsius in the Summer months. This implies the Kheerganga Trek is reasonable for all seasons of the year. In the event that you need the ideal, cold, trek-through-the-snow understanding, at that point consider visiting there between November to February. On the off chance that the chilly climate isn't generally your thing and you're searching for hotter climatic conditions, at that point you should make this trek in the Summer months. Among May and November, the climate is decent and charming, making the trek pleasant and agreeable.
Since it is just a 2-day trek crosswise over simple to move landscape, the Kheerganga Trek is ideal for apprentices just as prepared trekkers. In addition, this excursion is an affordable trek for explorers. The base of the excursion - Barshaini - is a fast 3 hours' drive from Manali, at an elevation of 1189m. On the Kheerganga Trek, there are three distinct courses that can be taken from Barshaini to Kheerganga. To ensure that the trekkers have the most ideal experience on this outing, the excursion taken from Barshaini to Kheerganga will be an unexpected course in comparison to the one taken in transit back.
The Kheerganga trek begins from Barshaini, at the dam over River Parvati. Trekkers will trek Nakhtan town and Rudra Nag town and will arrive at Rudra Nag sanctuary sooner or later. This Shiva sanctuary is a mainstream journey spot. From here, they will at that point head to Rudra Nag cascades, before the way takes them to Kheerganga, where they will set up camp and go through the night in tents and hiking beds, underneath a dazzling cover of clear skies and twinkling stars. After a generous breakfast, the arrival trek towards Barshaini will start, trekking through Tosh.
Kheerganga, and by expansion, this Kheerganga Trek, is a goal that offers such a great amount to individuals with fluctuated interests. For the trek fans, it ensures dazzling perspectives on snow-topped mountain tops and outlandish widely varied vegetation. For the more profound disapproved or those with an ardent interest for history, Kheerganga is a desert garden of culture. It is a nearby legend that Kheerganga is the detect that ruler Karthikey decided for his profound reflection. While trying to mitigate her child and bring him back home, Goddess Parvati made his preferred dish - kheer (rice pudding) - stream from the peak in a waterway. Later on, Lord Shiva halted the progression of kheer, and what remained was the high temp water that Kheerganga is presently known worldwide for.
The course taken for this trek is stunning in its very own right, yet the goal is something different totally. The Kheerganga trek arrives at its most elevated before the trek back at the characteristic Hot Springs. Kheerganga is found fairly near Manikaran and has regular high temp water springs that stay warmed consistently. Rich white pieces can be seen gliding around the water. These underground aquifers - or Parvati Kund - are a contemplation point for some, and is a much of the time visited vacation spot.
Obviously, this isn't everything to this rich valley.
The Parvati valley itself - where Kheerganga is found - is home to probably the most amazing landscapes and greenery in all of India. With sputtering streams and sparkling greenery, rambling knolls and regular springs and lakes, all ringed with a stunning perspective on the Himalayan pinnacles, Parvati Valley - the mystery valley of Manali - isn't something to be effectively passed on. Numerous individuals travel from distant locations abroad only for the purging idea of the fresh, clean air, and the chilly atmosphere. The fragrance of honeydew as you investigate the different trails and ways, and the smell of all the flavorful sustenance being cooked at curious bistros and restaurants en route all drag you there by your nose.
Parvati Valley is rich in nature as well as in culture. The nearby culture in the district is so explicit and not at all like anything in the remainder of India. You can see the effect of this in their sustenance, engineering, and even the little trinkets and keepsakes around. There is a remarkable effect of Iranian culture in the cooking of this locale, offering to ascend to some really mouth-watering nourishment.
With everything taken into account, the Parvati Valley is an encounter of a lifetime - acquainting you with another culture, old folklore, rich nourishment and more extravagant history - it guarantees something to everybody, and ensures a decent time.

Wick Redesign - October 21st, 2017 [My DeviantArt]
I’ve been trying to redesign this bastard to yank him out of the Minecraft fandom since 2014, and I only just now got traction with it.
His name is Farekhyr Aezir. However, since that name is an absolute disaster for most people to pronounce, he just wants to be called Wick. Khyr also works, which is pronounced like “kheer.”
A whole lot of rambling under the read-more
I’m just going to start spouting random tidbits about Wick’s personally, his species & their biology, and misc facts, because I can’t think of any way to string them all together in a way that makes sense...
About Wick
He’s 21 years old and bisexual.
He’s very extroverted, charismatic, and loves being the center of attention and getting a reaction out of people, for better or worse.
He’s overly vain and prideful, self-centered, and hasn’t grown out of causing trouble for attention.
He’s pretty stupid.
He loves pyrotechnics and makes his own fireworks. He’s blown himself up a few times but his kind have thick skin and fire resistance, so it’s cool.
He’s very physically fit and agile. He does a lot of parkour for fun and to show off. He’s also a talented dancer.
He’s absurdly flexible. Noodle dragon.
All of the white markings on his face are paint. His kind don’t have eyebrows.
He naturally has two hair colors like that.
About His Species (Which I don’t have a name for yet, so I’m just calling them dragons)
They’re resistant to diseases because their core temperatures are very high on average (~195°F / ~90°C).
They don’t require much water to stay hydrated. They’re kinda like cats in that most of their water comes from food.
They can drink contaminated water and eat raw food because their heat kills most if not all bacteria and parasites. Wick prefers the taste of raw meat.
They need to eat a lot to stay hot and healthy.
They’re very vulnerable to cold, although they’re more resistant if they’re in good health and well fed. They need to be especially careful with bathing in or drinking cool water, because that cools them off quickly. They also need to stay dry because water evaporating on their skin cools them off too.
They can generate fire from any of the “vents” on their body, but Wick uses the ones on his shoulders and hands the most. They can also breathe fire because dragons.
Most of their glow is actually from bioluminescence, not from heat. Their core temperature is well below the draper point, and the only internal fire they have is in their lungs.
Their blood is a rusty orange color and also glows because of bioluminescence.
They smoke incense more commonly than cigarettes. Neither have any negative health impact on them since, well, they’re constantly breathing in their own smoke, but they generally prefer incense because it smells and tastes nicer.
All their clothes are fire retardant for obvious reasons. Their skin-tight clothes like Wick’s shirt breath really well so that fire can pass through them. They’re also very stretchy.
Females have horns too, but they’re much smaller.
Their tails are really strong. You do not want to be slapped by one of their tails.
They can inhale copper chloride to turn their flames blue, but it’s generally not great for their health.
Misc
I drew inspiration for his design from Japanese dragons.
I listened to “This Is Halloween” on repeat while drawing this, and I’ve unintentionally imprinted that song onto him.
Other songs that fit him well are “Nabbed” from the album Nightmare Revisited and “Don’t Stop” by Innerpartysystem.
I’ve also unintentionally associated electro swing with him, even though that really doesn’t fit him at all.
I don’t know how his kind create fire yet, but I’ll probably come up with some pseudo-science to explain it eventually. I’m thinking something like they make a natural gasoline-like fuel in their vents and then ignite it somehow.
I wanted to use proper phonetics to show how to pronounce his full name, but I took one look at the phonetic alphabet and said, “nope.” So my layman’s phonetic spelling of Farekhyr Aezir is “Fa-ree-kheer Aye-zeer.” The first R in Farekhyr is rolled.
His name was originally even more of a disaster but I couldn’t even pronounce it mentally so I toned it down, lmao.
Thank you for listening to me ramble about dragon people for roughly 500 words. ✌️
