Random kfp headcanons that I had (that I am not making them up right now for a post, I just had these in my mind since forever)

- the release date of the movies are the birthdates of the villains (Tai Lung 6th of June, Shen 26th of May, Kai 29th of January)

- Obviously Tai doesn't know his birthday so they celebrate the day Shifu got him instead which is the 4th of July (I chose this date because it was the date that it aired on my country :3 )

-Meanwhile Tai and Shen have their family issues Kai has loving parents with a wholesome relationship and absolute no problems with.

- I headcanon the mixed animals offsprings work the same way in Beastars so the offspring won't be a mixed creature but rather just one of the parents

- Kai has a cow mother and a crocodile father.

- Shen's mom's mother is an Albatross.

- Both of Tai's parents are snow leopards

- I know people usually say that Po and Tai would be besties which I agree but among the villains I think his bestie would be Kai, they seemed to be getting along (almost) in the movie for me X)

- After the third film I cannot imagine Tigress and Po not having a panda daughter

- Tigress and Po has a panda daughter. One child

- Tigress becomes Shifu's succesor. Taking over the Jade Palace ( after it is rebuilt ) Teaching new generations

- Crane is the first one to marry among the five. Mantis is the last he's scared (didn't marry an other mantis oh god kajsksbdjs)

- Po is the youngest member and Mantis is the oldest

- Oogway and Kai met in the army but they knew eachother's existence before that. They just weren't talking to eachother at all

- Kai listens to Oogway's "deep talks". When he was young he couldn't exactly come up with words to explain what is in his mind and tell it, Kai watched him as he mixed 15 random words together to explain what his philosophical thoughts were

"You have an enlightenment every day"

-Shen had a close relationship with his parents till the age of 5. Then it fell apart

- Tai Lung used to count his spots regularly to see if he had grown any more. He stopped after he finished puberty

- I'll probably add more I just kinda don't remember all of them right now

1. Kai doesn't understand sexual innuendos, Shen realises this after many innuendos he said went over Kai's head

2. Shen likes resting his head on Kai's gut when sleeping near him

3. They act overly affectionate around Tai Lung to annoy him and make him feel lonely

Another hc for The Chameleon bc I just cant stop loving her.

She has a brother, called Mamihasina (From the Malagasy mamy meaning "sweet" or "well-liked" and hasina meaning "sacred power, sanctity, virtue") (he chosed a chinese name, 荣 (róng) meaning "glory, honour, flourish, prosper") who is an artist in both drawing and ceramic. She lost contact with him when she moved to Juniper City but she doesnt miss him bc of how her family seemed to support him more in his drawings that her in her sorcery and she hates him for that.

Róng, on the other hand, has tried to get back in touch with her, but has given up hope of being able to build a relationship with her when she became ruler of Juniper City

Can you describe Kai parents appearance from your headcanons more detailed pls? If you describe their costumes that would be great. So if me someone would ever draw them they'd match your headcanons :> if it's fine to you of course

In your last writings you mentioned that Kai's son has his granfather eyes it was so💔🥹 I personally had a headcanon of his mother having blue eyes but father instead is cool too! If I got it right his father is (technically?) chinese and in terms of humans it's still possible for them having blue eyes way more rarely than mongolian and other turk people though

Hemhem anyway:

Yes, Kai and Yuelong both have blue eyes inherited from Bingwen, Kai's daddy. Bingwen is Chinese, but because they're animals and not humans I figured they're allowed a little more diversity in eye color (Tai Lung's gold eyes, Po's green eyes, etc).

I sadly don't have access to many good sources about traditional Chinese clothing during the warring states era, but from what I could glean I think Bingwen would have been wearing something like this:

However, Bingwen was not a peasant but a scholar, but not a particularly well-known one during his time; however, like I said, I have no great sources for how a scholar would have dressed then. He was alive during the middle/late warring states period (perhaps about 250 BC?) and lived in the Qin state, so that might also factor into his clothing choice. I'm sorry I don't have more details than that, and that what I do have isn't very historically accurate. ;-;

His overall appearance, however: he was a Chinese Black-pied bull, had no mane, and wore round-framed glasses. His head was black, save for a white mark on his forehead that had four points resembling a star (something else his grandson inherited from him). The rest of him was covered in black and white splotches as a typical cow. Kai got his horn shape as well as eye color from him:

Khaltmaa is much easier: she's basically a female Kai (or, in this headcanon, Kai is a male version of her) with longer fur, brown eyes, different horns, and her mane actually tied up into neat braids instead of unkempt and loose like her son's. Her horns were like a typical mongolian yak's:

Probably something like this (as both men and women wore deels at the time), but again, I have no good sources of historically accurate information, so please do forgive me if this is wrong!

I'm not certain if anyone would be able to get any coherent picture out of what I provided here, so honestly just use it as lose guidelines and have fun with it. If you do draw these two though please do show me!!!! I will absolutely explode with happiness! 😭💖🩷💖🩷

Bro I remember seeing that Shifu had a love interest back in the day for the first time I was absolutely s h o o k e t h 😂😂😂 Shifu was my fav character (and still is tbh) so yea that was a wild trip

I kinda feel them seeing the other again was extremely awkward, sort of how you would feel after seeing a classmate after many many years or smth... basically it was just really WEIRD. Not sure if this genuinely happened in the show since I haven't seen that episode in a long time but either way...

Speaking of which idk if they ever genuinely got back together but who cares lol. I see them as just distant mutuals.

Back in the day Mei Ling would know EXACTLY what to say to fluster Shifu, so she would tease him sometimes it was kinda funny ngl

I mean Mei Ling kinda gives that kind of vibe anyways.. Shifu got used to it really quick lol

Mei Ling stole a writing utensil from Shifu without him knowing in their primary school years and she never gave it back. To this day, she still has that writing utensil.

Shifu definitely chided Mei Ling on not doing honorable acts and basically was the more responsible one out of the pair, he was successful in getting her to not at the beginning of their friendship (and relationship ig) but later on it got harder and harder to convince her what she was doing was wrong

So eventually she just made up her mind, though I think a small part of Shifu still believes she can change. Quite stubborn but that's just how it is ig

Y'all think Shifu wonders about what went wrong and where it went wrong? Like I feel he holds himself very accountable and thinks about what he could have done differently to not lose Mei Ling like that, though a part of him knows that nothing would have made anything different

Also this whole shabang is a part of his past that he does not speak about but of course when Mei Ling showed up to the Jade Palace that got slapped in his face

Cant remember how the actual episode went but to me Shifu should have/definitely pulled the "we're not on speaking terms" card for a while LOL. At least not until he felt ready to confront Mei Ling. There was probably feelings of anger and also just confusion, because like.. what

Do people have any interest with a redemption arc between these guys?? I don't really care but idk wouldn't it be kind of cool if they can be on at least okay terms

Kung fu Panda headcanon:

Don't take this post too seriously. It's just my "what if" fantasy (in this post, the fourth part is not taken into account).

I think that the spirit world is much bigger than we were shown in the third part. I believe that absolutely all souls get there, not just kung fu masters. Because Kai got into the spirit world before Ugway invented kung fu.

So, I think that the spirit world is divided into several levels.

The first level is "up": This is the location where Po meets Ugway at the end of the third film. Only those souls who have been able to find inner peace get there.

The second level is the "middle": This is the location where Po defeated Kai. Only thouse souls who could not find inner peace, but who were good people during their lifetime.

The third level is "purgatory": Tai Lung gets here at the end of the first film. Those who managed to make mistakes during their lifetime go there, but these mistakes are not so terrible as to send the soul to the lowest level.

Fourth level "Hell": The souls of sinners who committed terrible deeds during their lifetime come here. I think that's where Shen is now.

Souls can move from the upper to the lower levels whenever they want. For example, souls from the middle level can descend into purgatory and even lower. But the soul cannot just rise to a higher level. To do this, the soul needs to be "cleansed". So, for example, a soul from purgatory will be able to rise to the middle and then to the upper level. But it is also possible to rise to a higher level if you absorb enough chi. That's exactly what Kai did, when he collected enough chi from purgatory, it allowed him to get to the middle level. After that, he was able to collect chi masters from two levels at once. However, his fight with Tai Lung took too long, as the leopard turned out to be a serious opponent, which is why Kai was able to get to Ugway only at the beginning of the third film.

By the way, Kai did not fight with Shen because he was afraid to go down to the lowest level straight to hell. This explains why Kai doesn't have a peacock pendant, but he does have a leopard pendant.

Once again, this is just a theory and concept of how I see the spiritual world in the KFP universe. Don't take it too seriously.

“What do you like about him?” someone asks you.

Po is the Dragon warrior of the valley of Peace, of course everyone loves him, but no one loves him more than you do.

When you and Po make it official, he basically would talk about it NON STOP.

Out on a mission? He tells the furious 5 that he misses you already, even though he just left the valley a minute ago.

AND can see your figure in the distance, watching him wave farewell by the bridge

Out to another part of China and staying at an inn? He’d tell the innkeeper about having a partner and would tell them all the amazing things about you

Maybe even the embarrassing ones too, but not on purpose!

He just pays close attention to you, loves you and every part of you

He fights enemies? Po had always been one to talk during battle. So to no one’s surprise, as he’s kicking butts he’d tell the enemy that he has a partner that he so adores, and who he misses so much

It gets pretty annoying for the enemies to the point they just have the urge to beat him up even more. Not they can but oh well.

One of Po’s favourite moments is when he sees your face when he comes back from a mission

Your smile and the way you’d run up to him to give him a big hug.

You're smaller than him, but even they he could feel how tight you wrap your (wings/paws/arms) around him.

Just by your hug alone he can tell how much you missed him as well

“Po you're back! How was the mission? Were you hurt?” you’d ask while checking his whole body for any cuts, injuries and bruises.

If you catch him come back home with an injury no matter how small, you’d yell and panic while dragging him back to the village to attend to him

Even if he tell you over and over it’s fine and that it doesn't hurt as much, you refuse to let him walk around with an injury

He loves that you care so much about him.

Po loves to bring back souvenirs for you as well when he goes out on a mission.

Be it keychains, posters, food or anything.

If he sees something cool that he knows you’d like he’d get it.

You appreciate all of the gifts he gives you and keep it on a shelf in your home that you have dedicated to the stuff Po gives you.

Whenever he visits your place, he’d take a glance at that shelf and smile to himself.

Happy that you appreciate his gifts enough to dedicate a whole shelf for it.

Po makes some of the best noodles in the village

He is the son of Mr. Ping, the goose who owns the best noodle shop in town

Whenever you both decide to have a chill date, you’d both go up your favourite hill and enjoy some of Po’s noodles

“Po seriously you can do EVERYTHING! Kick butts, save the world and make noodles!” you praised him, while gulping down his noodles

“Nahhh my dad makes the best noodles, but I am very good at kicking butts and saving the world" he chuckles, acting all so humble.

You don’t argue though

because even if he thinks he doesn’t make the best noodles, he is right about being good at his job as the dragon warrior.

Po also appreciates that you don’t date him just because he is the dragon warrior.

You don’t treat him like a trophy, make his job the main focus of everything.

You see Po for Po, and you are with him BECAUSE he is him, not the dragon warrior.

If Po starts doubting who he is as a person, you gently remind him and lead him back to the right path and show him who he truly is.

“Never lose sight of who you are, Po.”

When the valley is in danger, his very first instinct is to find you and protect you. He knows that the safety of everyone else in the valley is in good hands… paws and wings.

He’d (try) run to where you live and when he finds you he will be very relieved.

If you are unharmed this is how he’d react:

“(Name) I’m so glad you're safe” and just like you, he’d check your body for any injuries. “I’ll get you out of here okay? Just stay with my dad and I’ll find you once this is all over.”

“Okay, please be careful Po,” you nodded in agreement, holding his paws with a worried expression.

“I promise.” He would do anything to keep his promise. Po couldn't bear to break it

If you are harmed this is how he’d react:

When Po finds you harmed, be it with any of your body parts stuck under rubble or getting an injury that causes you to be in pain…

He’d panic and the anger sets in

He’d save you first, carry you bridal style and run away from the scene leaving the enemy (if there is any) with the furious 5 “You're going to be just fine (name)! I promise you so don’t leave me now!”

It’s clear in his face that he is very, very worried for you and your wellbeing

Po would put the blame on himself if he ever lost you.

Will think it's all his fault that he wasn't by your side to protect you

You being attentive as always even when in pain, realise this and gently smiled at him with all the strength you have left

“Po, I’m going to be just fine, okay? Don’t worry. I won’t leave you”

With your whispered reassurance, he becomes less tense and nods. Believing your words.

There was just no way you’d leave him here all alone. You will be with him through every step of the way, and him with you.

When everything is done and he defeats the enemy, he’ll find you ( and his dad) immediately.

Overall, Po would be a wonderful boyfriend. He may not be smart, but he does make you feel loved, safe, happy and content.

And that is truly, all that matters.

I finally rewatched Kung Fu Panda 2.

HOLY CRAP.

Three things reawakened inside of me--

One, an understanding of my obsession with Tigress as a seven year old watching the first KFP.

Second, the GOOSEBUMPS I got from that score. IT WAS INSANE, I’m putting this right next to How to Train Your Dragon on the list of “Movies I wish I could watch for the first time again” (I’d break down sobbing at LEAST five times)

Third, my strange fascination with Lord Shen.

Was he one of my first fictional crushes? Sadly, yes.

Am I ashamed? Of course, sadly, yes.

Was he the worst one? Sadly….not even close.

But we’ve all stooped down this low at some point. So let me just live my life and do this thing cus I think it’s funny

-I’m gonna follow the cringe royalty x reader path here

-He spoils you, a lot.

-And he doesn’t take no for an answer

-Shen is either the definition of clingy or just “no one come near me or you will be SLAUGHTERED”

-I’m following the yandere route, so he’s clingy

-You don’t go anywhere without an escort whether it be him or a guard

-Watch his mood VERY. CLOSELY. You don’t want to catch him in a bad mood and push his temper

-He gets jealous very easily and is one bipolar mf

-Shen will attack anyone who lingers on you longer than he’d like, and only twice have you convinced him to spare someone’s life.

-He either HATES hugs or absolutely NEEDS them

-But either way he does need one thing…

Shifu has a memorial box under his bed, the Five and Po happened to find it "accidentally." There were many pictures of the Five and Po, also some of baby Tai Lung. Tigress found her old toy bunny, which she was sure she threw away after being a master. Also an old drawing of herself and Shifu with stick figures, "Sifu" written on the sky. It was adorable, and drawn with "astonishing" talent, as Po said sarcastically.

Headcanon Shen is always drawn creepy in his portraits after his death. His eyebags are red instead of grey/black. His eyes are velvet red with no shading nor lighting like a monster’s. His beak is always open in his paintings to show it like he’s screeching or yelling at something. Because you know there isn’t anyone left to adore him on China now nobody likes that guy.

New Kai Headcanon As Treat:

If Kai likes someone, he will poke their bruises if they have any. He used to do it to Oogway constantly- sometimes searching for his bruises by poking him until he found them, and then poking them some more.

Kai: "You have a bruise?"

Oogway: "No."

KFP4 CHAMELEON HEADCANONS!

I just thought up some headcanons to make the movie make more sense to me than it ever was (even though I didn't watch it, I just read the wiki). So here they are!

Chameleon wasn't actually born in China, she was actually from the forests of Madagascar before she and her parents moved to China due to unknown reasons (let's say... Forest fires and deforestation, which seems too modern for an ancient setting.)

It's not her height that got her kicked out of many kung-fu schools, it's because she was from a different continent, she was an outsider is what I'm saying, but they can't say it out loud so they used her height as an excuse.

Her getting rejected by the kung-fu schools happened way before Oogway and Shifu's time, and way before the whole "Anyone can do kung-fu" schtick (or so I think)

She was a victim of bullying when she was a child (and still is as an adult), often called a freak of nature and, most rarely, a monster. This bullying also affects how she views herself once I get to the next headcanon.

She has an awful fear of mirrors, more specifically her own reflection. Having shattered 80 mirrors (cursing her with 560 years of bad luck), she is very subconscious about her appearance and hates herself for how she looks. She doesn't just steal others' kung-fu because she can't learn it, it's also because she thinks others are more appealing, appearance-wise, so she takes their kung-fu, along with their appearance, to make herself comfortable.

BONUS HEADCANON I JUST THOUGHT OF WHILE BACK: Chameleon's eyes dilate like a cat's, which is VERY UNLIKELY for a chameleon to do but hey, she has slits like a cat's, who's to blame me for thinking that headcanon?

And now we enter the headcanons that correlate with my KFP OC, Wu Yingyi!

(Just a warning here: MAJOR TRIGGER WARNINGS SUCH AS ABUSE WILL BE LISTED, READ AT YOUR OWN CAUTION)

When Wu Yingyi first took control over everything (Spirit Realm and parts of China), Chameleon suffered so much from Yingyi and her wrath. Yingyi sliced off some meters of Chameleon's tongue, even stealing away her shapeshifting powers, rendering Chameleon under Yingyi's mercy, but alas, there was no mercy from Wu Yingyi as she took the realms with an iron fist.

Chameleon's mental health and insecurities worsen as her time with Yingyi continues, such as having panic attacks when something related to Wu Yingyi happens (such as when Wu Yingyi comes back or something) and worrying about every simple mistake in fear that Chameleon will be punished with a much worse punishment than the last.

Chameleon constantly blames herself over the smallest of things, calling herself names that no one would ever say to another person, like "idiot", "wretched filth", or "reptilian scum". What's worse? She calls herself those mean names because Wu Yingyi calls her that whenever she is really upset at Chameleon. (Hence the trigger warning I had to list.)

She never had anyone she could get support from during Wu Yingyi's terror, she never had anyone to comfort her in her time of need. She was alone, and always believed so. The only ones who could be her friends are Tai Lung, Lord Shen, and Kai, but even she, or the trio, doesn't believe they're friends at all, (as evidenced by the novelization of the movie where they used her as a jump rope. Well, they used her tongue as a jump rope but yeah), just villains under the mercy of Wu Yingyi's reign of control and monstrous intent.

The only time she ever felt love or care for someone during Yingyi's reign of terror was a poison-dart frog rogue (who is another OC of mine) named Poise, who is also not from China but managed to not have her trauma of being from a different continent overwhelm or consume her, and later on down the line, a young red panda (who is a demigod) named Hun-ho, who gave Chameleon some motivation and hope for the potential future of China after Yingyi's eventual demise.

Chameleon feels guilty for not treating Zhen as if she were her own daughter and blames herself for being an awful person to Zhen and everyone else thanks to it. (Another insecurity made by Yingyi's anger, because Yingyi wanted to be a mother but was robbed of that role and so takes it out on Chameleon because Chameleon was a pseudo-mother-like figure to Zhen, and wasn't a good one at that.)

The only times when the others (say Tai Lung, Lord Shen, or Kai) are concerned for her is when Chameleon is beaten by Yingyi in front of them, which, reminder, happens a lot, like- Chameleon gets beaten up a lot by Wu Yingyi right in front of Tai Lung, Lord Shen, and Kai, yet they're helpless (because they don't want to be like Chameleon, beaten up every time)

Just to note, when Yingyi is finally defeated; Chameleon begins redeeming herself from being a villain to being one of my other OC's babysitters, to put it sensically; she's one of the babysitters for Hun-ho, a demigod red panda born from a mystic peach (from a mystic tree) and even begins to understand the better things in life.

But for now, all Chameleon is, in my headcanons, is both a victim of the cruelest parts of life and, from the start, a girlfailure.
