Jane Fonda no Minhocão
Jane Fonda no Minhocão

Rings: Part 2
Warnings: swearing, a little something-something at the end
Word count: 2280
Tumblr media
The walls thumped with the beat, almost too loud for my sensitive ears. Had I not had nearly four vodka sodas and three tequila shots in me, I would probably have a raging headache.
As such, I was feeling pretty good. The Abattoir was busy for a weeknight, humans mingling amongst the vampires, unaware of what was to befall them in… two minutes and twenty-three seconds.
Hands were on my hips, sliding up my ribs and then down to the tops of my thighs. I smiled, leaning back into whoever was behind me.
“I heard we have a mutual friend,” he said lowly behind me.
I spun to face him, his hands still on me. “Do I know you?”
He was tall, dark and handsome, brilliant white teeth gleaming at me.
It took me a moment. “Marcellus?” I gasped. “My God, what a man you’ve become.”
He smiled down at me before leaning back into my ear. “You’re far more beautiful than I remembered from my childhood as well.” He glanced around us at the writhing bodies. “Please don’t tell me I’m about to have a thirsty Original Hybrid ruining my night.”
I shook my head. “They’re at their hotel.” Elijah had told me that much at least; don’t tell Marcel anything.
He smiled. “Lucky me, I get you all to myself.”
He leaned down, pressing his lips to my neck, hips connecting.
“Have you chosen who you’re having tonight?”
I shook my head again, humming. “Not yet.”
“Well, you don’t have long.”
He spun me around, pulling me back into his chest. “I seem to recall you have a penchant for tall, lean men. Preferably dressed in a suit and spouting promises he won’t keep.”
Pulling away, I said, “If that’s what you want, Marcel, then leave now. I have no hold over Elijah.”
He smiled patronizingly down at me. “Oh, somehow I don’t think that’s possible.”
BONG.
The music seemed to amp up, the beat pounding harder against the stone walls of the club.
BONG.
Murmurs of ‘don’t scream’ mixed with the beat, the humans standing still and pliant as fangs tore into soft flesh. Reaching behind him, Marcel pulled forward a girl, barely into her twenties. He offered her to me, neck first.
I stepped forward, watching him as I bit in. After a moment, he followed suit, biting her other side. Her blood was young and thick, the alcohol in it giving a warm aftertaste. After a moment, I pulled back, biting into my wrist and offering it to the dozy girl.
Marcel grinned at me, mouth ringed with blood. “Not a bad setup, hey?”
The music returned to its normal beat, and everyone resumed, some people swaying a little more than they had been. Marcel grabbed my wrist, pulling me through the crowd and over to a small alcove guarded by two vampires. They let him through without question but watched me suspiciously as I passed.
“Where are we going?” I asked, still following him.
He smiled back at me but didn’t answer. We made our way up the stairs, winding up and around. The door at the top opened out into the night air. We walked out onto the roof, the club still thumping below us.
“This is what I wanted to show you,” Marcel said, gesturing to the city lights glimmering around us.
“Yes, yes, it’s pretty. I’ve seen better and I’ve seen worse.”
Marcel shook his head. “No. That’s no it. Listen to it.”
I turned my ears outwards. Usual city sounds, a faint siren wailing in the distance, the sound of breaking glass and, of course, the sounds of parties raging across the Quarter.
“It’s usual noise, Marcel. What is your point?”
“Life! People are out there, living their lives, drinking too much, hooking up with people they shouldn’t. And amongst them? The supernatural remain undetected. Witches and vampires living side by side. The city is peaceful and safe for all.”
I rolled my eyes. “Don’t pretend that you did this gently and with full cooperation. Those witches don’t practice magic because you threatened them, not because you presented them with a unicorn and rainbows.”
Marcel smiled. “And is that how you think Klaus and Elijah would’ve run the city? With unicorns and rainbows?”
The fresh air was washing away the buzz from the alcohol and feed, and my patience was disappearing with it. “Again, I ask what do you want?”
“I want the Mikaelson’s gone. I want them out of my city and far, far away from here.”
“You know Klaus and Elijah won’t leave, not now that they’re home.”
Marcel gestured to the area around us. “I’ve got to try.”
“Well,” I said, moving towards the edge of the roof I knew dropped down into an alley. “I’m leaving, so that’s one less Original you have to deal with.”
Marcel frowned. “What- trouble in paradise?”
I shrugged. “Something like that.”
Marcel gave me that warm smile again. “Does it have something to do with the fact that you no longer have a daylight ring?”
I glanced down at my hand, having forgotten about my missing ring. Frowning, I studied my bare hand, as if it was some alien that’d attached to me without my knowledge. I hadn’t taken that ring off in a thousand years, except to have it spelled with a charm so it wouldn’t break.
“Yes, I… lost it recently.”
Marcel reached into his pocket, drawing out a ring. The lapis lazuli glinted in the lights of the club below. “There’s a witch about 8 miles out of town, she can do your ring for you. If you leave now, you can make it before dawn.”
“Thank you.”
Marcel smiled at me, then I stepped backward, falling through the air and landing on my feet in the alley below.
I took off into the night without looking, heading straight to my car and taking off into the night. .・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。. Elijah joined Marcel on the roof, Y/N’s ring burning a hole in his pocket. He watched as she strode from the alley, head high.
“You really fucked her over, didn’t you?”
Elijah didn’t answer.
“She’s changed, Elijah.”
“Is there a point for my presence, Marcellus? I grow tired of your games.”
Marcel turned to Elijah, trying not to remember how much he had once loved and looked up to the man. “You heard my offer. I want you all gone from New Orleans. Go take over another city or start a new one. I don’t care, just not here.”
Elijah had to try very hard not to roll his eyes. “You know Niklaus won’t leave, and I certainly cannot let my brother run rampant through the city.”
Marcel gestured to where Y/N had disappeared to. “Not even for her?”
Elijah didn’t answer, and when Marcel turned around, he was alone on the roof. .・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。. The Audi came out of nowhere.
I slammed on the brakes, the car skidding across the bitumen. Elijah stepped out of the Audi, watching as I halted barely an inch from his back bumper. The steering wheel had cracked under the pressure of my grip.
“The car is a rental!” I growled.
He waved a hand dismissively. “We can easily afford to replace it.”
“What do you want, Elijah?”
He stepped forward, reaching for me. “You must return to home with me. The witches are planning something, and we need as much strength as we can-”
My hand shot up so fast that Elijah didn’t have time to duck. His head snapped to the side, the skin splitting over his cheek before rehealing, only a small line of blood remaining. Eyes turning, snarled at me.
“Don’t you fucking come near me,” I scowled back. “You come out here, asking me to return less than an hour after I found out you hadn’t told your latest plaything you were married. Tell me, did any of the others know? Or am I your dirty little secret?”
He reached for me, face stony.
“No. Don’t touch me.” I pulled out of his reach, and his hand dropped.
“I kept you hidden for your protection. From Mikael, whom I hope you remember, was intent on killing us all.”
I rolled my eyes. “So instead you banished me, leaving me to fend for myself? Thank you, Elijah, I appreciate that.”
I turned back to the car, but his hand wrapped securely around my wrist. “Do not take that tone with me, Y/N.”
I snarled up at him, turning around to face him and stepping into his face. “Take your hand off me.”
“You came when Niklaus called, despite everything that transpired between us. After 500 years, why now?”
I bit my lip, unable to maintain eye contact with him anymore. “I saw you. I was in Mystic Falls when Mikael was there. I saw Klaus break the werewolf curse and I saw you. And seeing you there after all this time, it reminded me of all we had.”
His eyes softened slightly, his grip loosening. “I never knew you were there.”
“I know. I didn’t want you to. I wanted you to call me, to ask me to come back.” I saw a flicker of something behind his eyes… shame, maybe?
Elijah watched me for a moment, then released my arm. Reaching into his pocket, he withdrew my ring. He offered it to me, palm up. I shook my head, pushing the offering away.
“Keep it,” I said. “Give it to Hayley. Or whoever you’d like. I don’t need it. There’s a witch who can make me a new one.”
“It’s your wedding ring, Y/N. I can’t give it to someone else- if there was anyone else.” He gave me a soft smile, but I couldn’t return it.
A hole had opened up in my chest, and the knowledge that he was lying straight to my face was only making it bigger. I stepped back, pulling away. “It’s ok, Elijah. You don’t have to pretend. I’ve kept up over the years. I know about Celeste and Katrina.”
His face fell. “I give you my word, they meant nothing to me.”
“Don’t do that, Elijah. I’ve known you since we were children. You can’t lie to me.” I turned my back on him, moving towards my car. “I’m going to find somewhere far away from you, Elijah. You can live here, raise the baby with Hayley, have a second chance at fatherhood. I don’t care. I just can’t be near you anymore.”
I got as far as opening the door before a hand grasped my shoulder, spinning me around. “I made a mistake when I sent you away. I’m trying to fix it. Please.”
He looked so sincere, so lost. So… human. I reached up, a thumb stroking across his cheek. It was a familiar feeling, yet it felt so new after nearly 5 centuries.
“Our son had your cheekbone,” I said quietly.
The corners of Elijah’s lips curled. “And your eyes.”
“What happened, Elijah? We used to love each other so much, and now we can barely spend a night under the same roof.”
One of his hands came up to rest on my neck, thumb on my jaw. “We lived.”
I closed my eyes for a moment, just enjoying his touch. “Yes, well, maybe we’re not meant to be. Your father always said I wasn’t good enough. Maybe he was right.”
“He wasn’t,” Elijah replied immediately. “You are meant to be mine. Sending you away was a mistake, and I will spend the rest of my life attempting to earn your forgiveness.”
I shook my head. “It wasn’t just that; that I understand. It was the women as well. I kept tabs on you; I knew every time you found something new to play with. And I knew each time they died just how much you hurt.”
He stayed silent, thumb still tracing my jaw.
“I need to know,” I said slowly.  “If they meant something more to you, or if they were just distractions from living?”
Elijah leaned forward, pressing a kiss to my forehead. “They were nothing to compared to you. I didn’t love them, not as I love you.”
I sucked in a breath, closing my eyes. “If you don’t mean, please don’t say it.”
Elijah pressed his thumb into my jaw, tilting my head up to look at him. Ever so slowly, he leaned forward, pressing his lips to mine. I stretched up, pressing my lips more firmly to his. One of us made a noise, and Elijah scooped me up, hands secure beneath my thighs. The car was cold against my back, but I didn’t care. Elijah was back in my arms, and there was nothing tearing me from him now.
He carefully leaned back, pinning me against the car with his hips. I groaned and he grinned down at me.
“ ‘Lijah,” I complained.
He held his closed fist between us, opening his fingers slowly. My ring was in his palm, again, an offering. I looked at it for a moment, before lifting my left hand. Elijah’s lips curled and he carefully slid the ring onto my finger, the familiar weight settling above my knuckle. He pressed a kiss to it, then to my lips.
“We should go back,” he murmured against my lips. “Before my brother burns down the whole of the city.”
I nodded, smiling. “Ok,” I whispered back. “Together?” Elijah smiled down at me. “Together. Always and forever.”
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.

Selena hit the track. Like Katrina makin' waves. Like Cold Medina, make 'em say, I'm ready. Are you ready for it? Yeah, I'm ready for it. Really ready for it? Yeah, I'm ready for it. I'm on my way. I know I'm gonna get there someday. It doesn't help when you say it won't be easy. Tell me, tell me, tell me something I don't know, something I don't know, something I don't know. Tell me, tell me, tell me something I don't know, something I don't know, something I don't know. Like how many inches in a mile. What it takes to make you smile. Get you not to treat me like a child, baby. Tell me, tell me, tell me something I don't know, something I don't know, something I don't know. Tell me, tell me, tell me something I don't know, something I don't know, something I don't know. Tell me, tell me, tell me something I don't know, something I don't know, something I don't know. Tell me.

~ carolmaria playlist ~
so this playlist is only songs from the 80s since tht was the primetime of their relationship but im also making other playlists. my idea for this is basically all the songs describe their relationship but also are music carol and maria would listen to. it’s based off the popular headcanon tht they were in a relationship before carol crashed but also my personal headcanon tht they decided to have a child together through artificial semination and there was NO MAN INVOLVED romantically or sexually in maria’s life :) enjoy!
im gonna write descriptions of each song’s placement but if you don’t wanna read them here’s the links ->
spotify: https://open.spotify.com/user/houstontc22/playlist/48cAcNa5q2uLCFflAGhSx4?si=hb9lDE6ZTTOEiw_nRxAjOA
apple music: https://itunes.apple.com/us/playlist/carolmaria/pl.u-LgYrU2Ka6J5
yearning for your love - the gap band
this is about tht good mutual pining bby!! before they told each other about their feelings
time will reveal - debarge
them both hoping tht, as times moves on, the other will realize how in love they are
for your eyes only - sheena easton
in the official prequel book set during maria and carol’s time in the a*r f*rce academy, carol and maria discuss how much they understand each other b/c they’re so similar and how neither of them have ever met someone else who they could be their true self around so this song is about those moments of them being able to open up to one another and be vulnerable with each other
the woman in me - heart
going off the energy of the previous soing, about how at-home they feel with one another along with mutual! pining! and their desire thts about to burst out
kiss me deadly - lita ford
i mean..we all knw why this is on here. it just captures their essence perfectly when they hang out and sing karaoke and shit
the way you dance - the go-go’s
maria and carol go out for drinks and maria gets up to dance to some song she rlly likes. carol watches and tries not to stare too much but she’s a goner with the way maria is moving. maria eventually feels carol’s eyes on her so she amps it up a bit to pull carol further into a trance until carol finally gets up to dance with her
walking on sunshine - katrina & the waves
after they’ve told each other about their feelings and the extreme bliss they experience in the period afterwards. i feel like this song could also go later on the playlist after carol’s return but i put it here b/c these lyrics go well with the period of time tht they’re in a relationship but not living together yet
secret love - joan jett & the blackhearts
i feel like this perfectly describes their situation of not being able to let anyone knw about their relationship due to issues like worrying about being kicked out of the a*r f*rce and safety concerns with it being the 80s. just ignore the “but im with him and you’re with her” line lol
every little step - bobby brown
my heart bursts thinkin about how domestic maria and carol were in captain marvel so my fluff-loving gay mind imagined a scene to go along with this sdkjfdlk okay so picture: they’re in a bar after maria tells carol she wants a child and to show her support and dedication, carol gets up in front of everyone and sings this song to maria
you - gladys knight & the pips
how maria feels about carol’s personality and demeanor
your love is king - sade
any time i get to put my fave sade song on a playlist im happy! this song perfectly encapsulates their love
don’t disturb this groove - the system
they fuckin!
the sweetest taboo - sade
plain and simple. about how carol slangs tht STRAP! but if we go deeper, also about how maria sees carol as a force tht came into her life and made it bttr. the prequel book about their time in the a*r f*rce academy says as much
never too much - luther vandross
about how joyfully in love they are. i imagine around this time they’ve already had monica
outstanding - the gap band
my fave gap band song! another song about how in love they are, specifically from carol’s point of view
pictures of you - the cure
there’s a post on here talking bout how maria must have spent many nights explaining the stories behind the pics in the box of carol’s stuff to monica, as if they were bedtime stories, in order for monica to know those stories front-to-back when showing the pics to carol after her return. so.. britney_yeah.gif.. this song is about tht and maria looking at the pics by herself :’(
tell me if you still care - the s.o.s. band
from maria’s point of view after carol’s return. she’s wondering if carol remembers their relationship. carol feels a deep connection to maria but doesn’t fully understand what it is and maria is a little frustrated but she understands tht it’s not carol’s fault
sweet love - anita baker
in those moments before carol flies off to be a deadbeat dad when maria is fighting the urge to tell carol about their whole history and on the edge of begging carol to stay with her family. like in the scene where they’re all sitting at the dinner table after the battle and those Looks maria gives carol, this song is what she was feeling
the flame - cheap trick
after carol leaves to help the skrulls and since i refuse to believe tht carol didn’t give maria some type of communication device like she did with fury, i imagine this song to be about whenever maria feels especially lonely and calls carol so they can video chat. maria promises carol tht she’ll always be there for her and tries to help her trigger some memories
forget me nots - patrice rushen
maria praying tht her wife not completely forget her and monica forever and instead remember and fly back from space to them
ain’t nobody - chaka khan
after carol has finally gained some memories back about their relationship and returns to earth for a few months out of the year to fully restore their connection. carol is enamored with maria and how quickly and easily it was for her to fall back in love with maria again and she is upset tht she missed out on feeling this love and tht she can’t remember most of it. also about how happy maria is tht she has her wife back
come back - luther vandross
about how maria feels during the times carol is off-planet. she just wants carol home permanently b/c she misses her so much and wants to get their life back to normal
right here waiting - richard marx
more about the angst and pain tht maria feels when carol is off-planet. maria is not the type to just sit around and be gloomy and somber all the time but she’s promises carol tht there will always be a place in her heart for her
wish you were here - fleetwood mac
as she remembers more and more memories, carol is lonely on whatever planet she’s on and wishes maria was there to hold her in her arms
time after time - cyndi lauper
during her adventures in space carol is trying to remember more about her and maria’s relationship before the crash while maria hopes she’s okay and safe wherever she is
wait for me - joan jett & the blackhearts
carol worries tht her off-world trips will tire out maria too much (which they do) to the point where she ends their relationship so she reaffirms their love and begs maria to trust in it
the one i love - r.e.m.
i imagined up a lil scene to go along with this song as well. so picture: carol is at some space bar tht has a stage where random ppl can go up and perform if they want to so she gets up there with her guitar and emotionally covers this song while thinking of maria and monica
