Character: Great Leader

This character is related to Mole!MC

Great Leader of Phantom City is the leader, the head, & the heart of all villains in Tokusatsu shows (which is real in this universe) in Obey Me! Universe of Mole!MC.

Most of the time, the Great Leader does not show his face, but hides behind a symbol of the organization and speaks through the said symbol.

Inspiration

The Great Leader of Phantom City is inspired by the Great Leader of Shocker (pic above) from Kamen Rider series 1971. The Great Leader of Shocker also doesn’t appear in person until the very last episode, for most of the series, he commands his subordinates through an eagle symbol, speaking through it. This kind of mysterious big bad boss was very popular in the 1970s (at least in Japan where Kamen Rider is produced), despite leaving little for the villain to develop.

Description: Snow Goddess’ Wonder is Lobera’s final form accessed by using the Snow Goddess’ Wonder Wonder Ride Book in the Seiken Lobera Driver alongside the Snowfall Beauty Wonder Ride Book in the Sessouken Fubuki. It is based on the story of Chione, the daughter of Boreas, the God of the North Wind.

Background: Shortly after Issac gained the means to become Kamen Rider Solomon, he kidnaps Shion, prompting Kaede to confront him to get her back. The two henshin and duel, but Kaede is left weakened but still determined to save Shion. Touma, who had been made aware of what was happening due to Rekka warning him, sees Issac about to finish Kaede off and jumps in front of her, taking the traitor’s finisher for her. Kaede’s subsequent magic-fueled frenzy causes Issac to retreat, leaving Shion behind safe and sound. Touma is hospitalized as a result but is in stable condition. Shion decides that Issac’s new powers call for an upgrade to the Riders’ arsenal. Tetsuo overhears this and decides to help out. The three infuse the power of the Snowfall Beauty, Frozen Walrus, and The Sleeping Snow Princess Wonder Ride Books via magic into a powerful new book, Snow Goddess’ Wonder, with Tetsuo creating the Seiken Lobera Driver to go with it.

As you might recall, I was specifically pulling for Tawada to be an Ultraman a little while ago, I want them to make him whatever New Gen Gaia gets called and then have Murakami Kohei be New Gen Agul so he can romance a handsome older man with his scientific earnestness. ^_^ Sohma I'm a little less sold on as an Ultra host but it'd be fun to see him in a bit part in a show.

“Masked Rider”?

Pearls and the Beach event, you can access it through Lonely Devil, original run August 2 - August 13, 2021.

So in the Pearls event, Levi mentioned Masked Rider in his conversation with Diavolo. So I want to discuss about it here in this post.

“Masked Rider” is a translation from “Kamen Rider” (“kamen” means “mask” in Japanese), a popular franchise in Japan, produced by Toei since 1971. “Masked Rider” was also the name of a series produced by Saban (the original producer of Power Rangers) and Toei, adapted from the latter’s Kamen Rider Black RX.

Kamen Rider is similar to Super Sentai (Power Rangers’ original), like they have heroes (not all Riders are heroes btw) fighting against evil organizations and monsters. However, Kamen Rider’s aim is for older audience, so its theme is much more mature (if not darker). The focus is also more on the titular character, instead of a team.

The Kamen Rider show airing at the time of the event was Kamen Rider Saber, whose main themes are books and knights if I remember correctly. However, the show was in its final arc at the time and ended at the end of the month.

At the start of September, a new series named Kamen Rider Revice aired (it’s still airing at the time I write this). And guess what? One of Revice’s main themes is demon.

Coincidence? I think not.
