I apologize if I sound stupid, but what’s mangoball? I hope I spelt that right

cheater cheater (known as mangoball) is a satirical social media fanfiction by twitter user mangobaii written in 2021 about the internet personas of twitch streamers georgenotfound and dream getting together after georges ex boyfriend sapnap cheated on him with dream. on paper it sounds fucking abysmal especially with what we now know about all three of them (ie. they should be publicly stoned) but its more or less infamous for the surrealist humour and the way it acts as a time capsule for stan culture of late 2021. the characters are:

george. a very very stupid british man who paid to get into college. his boyfriend cheats on him and he takes it really poorly

dream. a very very desperate american man who sucked sapnaps dick in a public bathroom and broke up his relationship. when he thinks things are over between him and george he runs away to disney land to become a goofy mascot, which george finds incredibly attractive

sapnap. a very very unpleasant man to be around. cheated on his boyfriend and when its clear theyre not gonna patch things up he resorts to just hanging around the main group and in general being a dick

now this is where it gets REALLY really good bc its unanimously agreed upon that while the dream team are really entertaining in this they dont hold a candle to the others

quackity. georges roommate. i would say he "favours the tough love approach" but that is putting it soooooo lightly.

kyle. georges other roommate. the designated "straight man" in that he is like a normal fucking person put into this insane world of crazy people. the catalyst for most of the events of the story since he is the one who saw dream suck sapnaps dick, told george about it, and encouraged george to rebound with dream. thank you rival cartoonrival for telling me that i called karl kyle on accident. it really goes to show how much of a normal guy he is

corpse husband (we dont know why he was included either). dreams roommate. hates that cunt and is actively praying on his downfall

wilbur soot. dream and corpse's neighbour. initially introduced as "guy who keeps stealing his stuff (and also knows george from england)" gradually devolves into "batshit insane, genuinely a threat to those around him, involuntarily gets them involved in his crimes for a 'bonding experience'". also he is kind of in love with corpse but that isnt ever expanded upon

tommy innit. a freshman that dream used to tutor for compsci (along with tubbo but hes not as relevant to the story as tommy is. SORRY TUBBO!) but he hated dream so much he started a space about it, which got bigger and bigger until it became a huge podcast (with individual episodes still named using space naming conventions) where he and various guests shit on dream. he doxxes dream. at one point it was sponsored by taco bell.

badboyhalo. mysterious man no one really knows (except i think its briefly implied george dated him at one point) who doesnt go to their college yet keeps interacting with them like they are all best friends. is actually quackitys estranged father he never met

there was also a christmas special where someone snitched on wilbur to the authorities and george got kidnapped and they try to figure out whos responsible while snowed in and unable to visit their families like they wanted

I find all the things you've implied or said about Stormblessed95 really interesting considering you haven't been around the Tumblr spaces very long. You also seem to have no problem saying all these nasty things about her and others who follow her without much proof. Why are you even bringing other bloggers into it like that and saying they follow her lead when if you read their posts and masterlists none of them agree on everything? Stormblessed95 is one of the first to say that we don't all have to have a hive mind. I don't agree with everything she says but to call her the Jikook version of Tkk lives is just wrong. Seems like you're more like Regina George than her. Even going so far as to insult other blogs who may agree with her. I wonder did all these people jumping on the bandwagon believing you bother to investigate whether you were telling the truth or not. It’s one thing to block someone because they are actually hating on Tae by saying he is feeding his shippers and bringing hate to Jimin which several Jkks and Anons have said vs. blocking people that disagree with you on if Tae is acting weird or not. The blogs taking the first approach all have said hating on the members is a no go and I agree. Blocking for disagreeing is not what's happening and they made that clear. I guess as someone who has lurked for a long time and have interacted with a lot of blogs on here to see some of those same people joining in to attack Stormblessed95 is pretty sad. November reading wrapup

hmmm pretty good month for quantity but hit or miss for quality, i either loved or hated almost all of these. 💆🏻‍♀️

1. the lover, marguerite duras — tumblr girl classic, ur fav web weaving posts almost definitely feature a snippet of this. like woah 😭 ok very timeless very vivid and real. I did cry.

2. icebreaker, hannah grace — this is EMBARASSINGGGGGG i was going to a hockey game and was like woah let me get into this mindset... into this world… THIS BOOK WAS MISLEADING i thought itd be equal parts hockey world ice skater world equal parts romance and no.. it was nothing of the sort... this was just tooooo porny like WAY too much, even for me. AND I USED TO WRITE SM- *gunshot*

3. throne of glass, sarah j mass — does anyone have any good fantasy series recs that arent this?? like this is what years without winds of winter will do to a woman. im settling for this subpar garbage. but i am gonna keep reading it bc what else do i have, george???

4. mickey7, edward ashton — been on my tbr since rob pattinson was announced to be the lead in this in the bong joon-ho movie… i feel like with the creatives behind it thisll end up being one of those rare bones and all situations where the adaptation is wayyyyy better than the book. but idk. book itself was whatever good concept but didnt even really go anywhere. i thought that i had guessed a twist lie 3 quarters of the way thru but there was no twist literally nothing happened. therefore MID

5. blood meridian, cormac mccarthy — the only other time i had like a visceral tummy churning reaction to a book like this was when i read theons chapters in a dance with dragons 😭😭😭 anyway i like the lack of quotation marks and i also find it easier to write without them SHOOT ME

6. death valley, melissa broder — im really endeared to broder as a writer because i feel like she can only do one thing really well and shes very self aware of that.. which i respect.. also what the protag is going thru here at the start of the book is something ive also gone thru and it felt very strangely accurate and bizarre as a real person reading about a fake person going thru it. and literally within the book the protag references how writers poorly portray their characters accurately 'going thru it' (i keep saying going thru it bcoz im trying not to spoil even tho no ones gonna read my recs ALTHO this one deserves to be read i think) so that was cray and meta but umm what im trying to say is.. melissa i wanted to go to ur book signing i literally had my day cleared in my planner for u. why did u have to cancel the event.

6. Wolf/Tuck Live with D'arcy Carden and Paul Scheer

Plot summary:

Jordan and Sharon are two teens that are sort of in love with each other. Jordan doesn't really understand consent and that's the main reason Sharon doesn't want to be with him. In the meantime, a bunch of teens are hanging out with their old man friend Todd Benji (or T.B) for short) who smokes a lot of weed, watches Twin Peaks, and has a van with a unicorn in a KKK hood on it. It's called the Clan Van. He's probably racist. Back to the woods, Jordan comes across 3 wolves disguising themselves as little girls and they explain consent to him, but wolf consent. They then eat him. A bunch of parents from the camping trip go to home depot look for weapons to kill the wolves. T.B. says the wolf man cleared all the wolves out of town but the wolves came back. The kids want to find the grave of the wolf man but T.B. says that's a horrible idea because he's long dead. Eventually he gives up and the kids all pile into his car to go find the guy who killed the wolf man and try to kill him with a George Foreman grill. The kids figure out that T.B. actually is the wolf man and all talk about how badly they want to fuck him. T.B. admits he's the wolf man and immortal and the kids accept him for who he is. The paint on the Clan Van peels away and it's revealed that it actually says Wolf Man Van and the unicorn is actually a wolf holding up two peace signs and saying black lives matter. The wolf man hollers with his magical collar and turns all the wolves back into good wolves. The kids and T.B succeed and the wolves and humans lived side by side together.

The show began with party cats. If you dont know what I'm talking about you should go listen to this episode. Jess McKenna sure knows how to make the ladies swoon. Also this is the episode where the infamous "You Touched My Boob" song came from. I loved this episode so much more than I did the first time and I think it's because I just adore D'arcy Carden

ive never seen any mention about george being fat, i first heard it from you and i hate him and the rest of the cousins too <3 they dont understand that like their parents the hold a certain power over people with their wealth and they're all snooty pretenders of being down to earth and soo "nice" and soo "kind" that they say stuff like "omg sayo i will call you by your real name anyway do as i say" "omg kanon you're ackchually not furnichure sob" and battler's "i spent 6 years being POOR so im immune to being a rich asshole (is not immune)"

its not a direct or conscious attack on his weight, no, but the very specific eays people make fun of george or call him a bad character makes it clear they think he doesn't "deserve" sayo. there's going to be very few people who will actually come out and say "i hate him cause he's fat" particularly because every other adaptation of George made him skinny, but the text still makes it clear he's not.

it's fine to hate all the cousins, I'm not a big fan of the relationships they have with sayo either and you make some good points (i wouldn't say battler reckons he's immune to bein a rich asshole bc he spent time away from the ushiromiyas? fist i hear of this, anyway). I'm just saying a lot of weirdly pointed criticisms of george don't point out the same behavior in battler and jessica. especially because the text itself makes it clear that yasuda saw all 3 of the cousins, primarily, as a equal opportunities to escape her life, and it's interesting to see a) the way they talk about george b) what could possibly be different about him that would deserve that treatment.

I couldn't tell you why, but I've never really liked this episode. Maybe it's because of the clear divide and animosity between Casey and Derek (I mean, I know it's good for characterization and to show how they REALLY dont like each other (while at the same time enjoying the challenge and finding the other exciting)) but your breakdown made me like it a lot more!

(First of all, why does no one in our fandom talk about how Derek tugs on Casey's ear in the opening credits? That's so fucking cute??? And how they're both holding back smiles omg. And I know that that's probably more Mike and Ashley than Casey and Derek but I'm choosing to believe more in the latter 😅 I just feel like that little clip alone perfectly sums up Dasey)

Your call out about Nora and George sleeping on a different floor and therefore not being aware of the drama going on reminds me of something I once read in the fandom about how it feels like LWD is two completely different shows. One is this goofy family sitcom and the other is... well. Casey and Derek 😂 I just– G&N sleeping on a different floor and having that disconnect is very interesting to me...

I mean, I can see why this is not a Dasey episode, but I actually burst out laughing at a couple of points (and scared my family (because I have a ridiculous laugh that sounds like I'm dying)). I am honestly fine with them establishing Casey and Derek as rivals and not liking each other at all, because that makes for interesting characters and character development, and also because I would hate the other if I were in their shoes.

(I don't know if I'm more of a Derek or Casey. I'm honestly a good mix of both.)

Look!! There were two plots in this episode and one was the kids fighting over space in the house, and the other was George and Nora struggling with the bed. And in the end, nothing really happened because the Venturis won all the marbles and George and Nora's bed stayed in the original space (what was with that??? Why didn't they move it??? George's plan was solid!!!). So... I don't really remember where I was going with this, but yeah. There's a definite disconnect in the episode with, like, genre.

the extent of c!dreams manipulation is. really disturbing when you put it in perspective. in this essay i will… actually write an essay. buckle up kids, i have Thoughts

firstly, exile. there are many detailed analyses and summaries of it and i dont think i could do it justice if i tried, but i think as a fandom we can agree: exile was messed up. dream kidnapped c!tommy (the agreement was that he would be exiled from l’manberg, not that he had to follow dream’s commands on fear of death), isolated and straight up abused him, and drove him to a point mentally where he seriously considered attempting suicide multiple times. during this same time period, dream also made c!tubbo believe that his best friend hated him, and manipulated his decisions and thoughts on those around him as president (i think- too tired to fact check this rn, lmk if ive gotten smth horribly wrong). this entire arc was severely messed up.

but we also have pre-exile dream. i was watching the vods leading up to tommy’s exile, and. it just. really doesn’t sit right with me. tommy robs and burns down george’s house with ranboo. in retaliation, dream builds massive walls around l’manberg, also removing sizable portions of its territory in doing so. when questioned, he says that since c!schlatt was democratically elected and then forcefully removed from office, any past treaties between l’manberg and the dream smp were nullified, making it all dream smp land in his eyes. after tommy was proven guilty, he spoke to tubbo and said that he recommended banishing tommy from l’manberg. the lmanberg cabinet came to the conclusion that tommy would be stripped of his powers and put on probation, having to report to c!fundy daily for a given span of time. george, who was the kind of the dream smp and who was the one whose house had been burnt down, agreed that this was an apt punishment, but dream still argued that he would accept exile and remove the walls if tommy was exiled, saying that if tubbo didn’t agree to exile tommy then “[ominous pause] we’ll talk about it.” and i’m not sure if my summary did it justice, but that really did not sit well with me. like. he’s pushing so hard to either get tommy exiled or for tubbo to give him tommy’s disc in order for tommy to stay. from what we’ve learned about dream throughout the smp so far, they’re both glaring signs of his borderline obsession with tommy and his desire to control the people of the server through their attachments (which he hasn’t made many attempts to hide, considering i’m pretty sure at some point he told tommy that he wanted tommy’s discs only because tommy was attached to them, making them valuable to him).

he also kills tommy just to prove a point, which i won’t elaborate on rn because i’m running out of steam, but that’s a big thing.

and then there was today’s performance. i wasn’t around to see the exile arc or the prison stream or anything like that live, but i think his performance today was a clear indicator of just how disturbing his character’s actions and motives are. he breaks out of prison, and one of the first things he does (i think- the only stream i caught today was tommy’s, i’ll watch vods later, correct me if get something horribly wrong) is go to torture a child that he already isolated, abused, and killed three times. he threatens tommy, makes references to a time where he isolated and abused tommy in spite of tommy’s clear distress, and says that he plans to kill and revive tommy over and over and over again, among many other incredibly disturbing things. and like. my brain is fried and i am falling asleep at my computer so i’m not gonna go into a massive analysis of his words or actions or character, but... his actions kind of speak for themselves in terms of who he is as a character. i think when you weren’t part of the fandom during some moments that really defined how absolutely despicable his character was, it can be hard to really get the scope of how bad he is, but if you look at his past actions on the server... i mean. i’m more than a bit disturbed

tldr: c!dream’s actions, especially regarding c!tommy, have been upsetting and just really not okay, and that has been noticeable since well before exile arc and is still a clear continuity in his character.

fred set the needle onto the vinyl, turning the turntable on as the music slowly began to pour out of the speakers. it was thursday, cloudy, and not a very good day overall. 

fred sat on his bed, an ink pen and piece of paper and a book to write on sat on his lap. he sighed, thinking for a moment before starting to write

was that too cliche? oh my god fred you can’t just write to this poor girl without saying hi. you’re gonna scare her. fred closed his eyes. “stop that fred.” he mumbled to himself. okay let’s start. 

dear y/n, how are you? 

“oh my god fred you seriously just wrote that? how is she? you broke her heart, obviously shes not fucking good. wait what if shes really good and has a boyfriend. okay stop.” fred thought to himself. george might have to proof read this. he stood up, pacing the perimeter of hid bed. he grabbed your sweater, smelling it. it smelled like your perfume and your favorite cherry candies fred felt himself start to cry. how could he be so so stupid. he sank to his knees, craddling the sweater. ‘stop fred’ he thought to himself. he slowly stood up, wiping his eyes. he set the sweater aside, tearing a new piece and beginning to restart. 

“alright fred, you can do this.” fred whispered. he cleared his throat before returning to his paper.

/rp obv and /lh for the most part!

My thinking out loud for who Ranboo could trust with the enderwalk state, in no particular order:

A. Tommy. Probably one of the most obvious choices imo. He's proven to Ranboo specifically that he can be trusted to protect him in a similar situation (the trial about George's house being griefed where Tommy took the fall for him). I think Ranboo knows that Tommy can keep a secret. And Tommy isnt really on any sides at the moment - apart from his friendship with Tubbo which would probably his one loose end that could end up being a deal breaker for Ranboo. I legit think Tommy is objectively the best choice for this job (and i wanna see akward duo reunite as much as the next guy), but we gotta keep in mind who we're dealing with. Ranboo's likely not going to be think of Tommy as someone who's divorced himself from basically all conflict and is just trying to better himself. He's so paranoid about this exact issue, he's probably going to default to thinking Tommy is essentially just between sides right now. Plus, like I said, Ranboo didn't say he needs someone who "isnt on any side", he said he needs someone who's "detached". While Tommy definitely fills the former, he definitly doesn't fill the latter.

B. A lot of chat was suggesting Techno and/or Phil? Which?? My dudes??? No???? Yeah sure they probably wouldn't care, but Ranboo has made it pretty clear that he's really cautious about telling them things like this in fear that one day, they might care. Plus, when they say they don't care, they really mean it. To be honest, I dont think c!Techno or c!Phil are good people to be that vulnerable to? Mainly because this is something that Ranboo is going to need unprompted reassurance with and I dont really think either of them would think to do that? Plus, they're very much on a side, that being their own. When Ranboo says detached, I think he means really detached (or at least as much as humanly possible on this SMP).

C. Fundy. This one is odd because I could totally see it happening, but I can just as easily see it not. Ranboo and Fundy established a pretty strong bond throughout December, but after Doomsday it completely fell through for them both. They clearly still care about each other and that bond is definitely still there, but its been damaged and they've both been afraid to be the first to make an effort to mend it. I genuinely believe if they would just talk, they'd be back to normal in like 10 minutes. But they'd need to talk first and in this case I think Ranboo would be the one to start the conversation, which he's shown discomfort in doing before. However, if they could bridge this gap, l think Fundy would be a very good choice (as long as he could take it seriously). Obviously, Ranboo can trust Fundy on an emotional level and we know Fundy can keep a secret (almost too well) because of the whole A Spy's Diary situation. Fundy also said himself that he currently has no alliances on the smp, aside from probably Ranboo and Ranboo knows this. Additionally, Fundy is one of the only people, along with Puffy, and of course Dream, who have canonically seen him in his enderwalk state. (Tommy did notice him wandering around like he was in it once, but Ranboo hasn't acknowledged that time as canon, so idk). Anyway, I think Fundy would be a pretty solid choice if they can just get their shit together and finally make up.

D. Karl? I see where y'all are coming from with this one and listen, I would also love to see these to interact and bond over their respective memory issues, bookkeeping, and disrealization problems. But, I hate to break it to you that c!Ranboo literally has no clue about any of that. No one does. Karl hasn't told anybody about his ability to time travel and atm doesnt have any plans to. Granted, Ranboo could choose him for other reasons, but I highly doubt it, honestly?

E. Wilbur? I know what i just said, but Hear Me Out. He's not revived right now and we don't know when he will be or what he'll even be like when/if he is. But, a few things we can guarantee is that when/if he is he'll be one of the most detached people on the server (both politically and probably emotionally), he'd have no qualms with helping out Ranboo even if he does turn out to be some awful war criminal, and, based on his interactions with Ghostbur, I think Ranboo might be willing to trust him. And probably my biggest argument for why i like this crack theory: If Wilbur remembers all of the shit he did, that means he'll be one of the few people who would be able to relate to Ranboo. He knows what it's like to have Dream take advantage of your poor/deteriorating mental health and talk you into commiting acts of terrorism. Wilbur also would know what it's like to feel like you can't trust anyone, including yourself, and he could relate to Ranboo's disrealization he's been experiencing. Plus, I just think getting to see these two interact like this would be neat idk. Definitely not going to happen, but I thought I'd inculde the idea here!

F. Eret. Fuck dude, I really want Ranboo to go to Eret about this. Like first of all, Eret is functionally detached from everything right now (I mean that's why Dream has put them on the throne twice now). All Eret cares about is helping those who need it, which would include Ranboo. I also think Ranboo knows he can trust Eret and we all know Eret would be such a sweetheart about comforting the kid, while also understanding the seriousness of the situation and treating it as such. Something that I also thought was interesting was Ranboo emphasizing that it would be ideal if the person has "kept a secret before". Now, Fundy has also kept a big secret before (again, A Spy's Diary), but ya know who was the one other person who knew about Fundy's spy plan and kept the secret (which was someone else's) just as well? Eret. And of course, the reason Eret was the first person who came to mind for me: Eret betrayed L'manberg all that time ago and, obviously, had to keep it a secret and did with ease, even at a time when the writing couldn't protect it for them. Point is, Eret checks this box multiple times over and gets a gold star on it. On the note of Eret's betrayal, what I said about Wilbur knowing what it's like to be used by Dream to commit terrorism/war crimes, also applies to Eret. It's often forgotten that Eret was actually the first person to be used and manipulated by Dream. Eret wanted respect and power and when Dream found out, he promised it to them in the form of a flimsy title and fancy crown in exchange for turning on their friends, Eret took it. They then regretted it almost instantly. Point is, Eret can not only help Ranboo through this with the care and respect he requires, but can also do so by being able to relate to Ranboo on a personal level, which I think Ranboo would respond to. Eret is sort of the closest Ranboo could have to having someone represent what he's afraid he could become - someone who's seen as a filthy traitor and nothing more, never able to earn back the love and respect of their friends. But, Eret could show him that, with time and a lot of effort, he's worthy of forgivess just like they were. I also really want this for Eret. Let Eret be able to use the experience that they view as their biggest mistake, followed by months of paying for it, as a way to be able to help this kid that's grappling with some pretty heavy problems. It would be so healing for the both of them.

Anyone who has been following me for a long time knows ive spoken about a lot of issues here and i try to spread awareness whenever i see fit and i enjoy when i get reblogs on those posts to help spread awareness one thing i dont like is people agreeing with me for the wrong reason.

People who were pro-Hong Kong but only to be anti-China, like just using the suffering of the people of Hong Kong as a vehicle for their anti-China rants. It’s so blatant sometimes how people just did not really care in the slightest but wanted to just be angry at China and any company or person that is in any way related to China. Don’t get me wrong China is an authoritarian regime but the way people talk about things in relation to China while failing to ask why they are so against China is something i see in a lot of people.

Same with Palestine, a lot of people don’t seem to genuinly care that people are being murdered but rather that the suffering of those people gives them an opening for anti-semitism and conspiracy theories about jewish people.

I hope I’ve made it clear that I don’t support bigotry, if your reaction to what’s happening in Palestine is to go “wow i totally knew it, this must all be connected to George Soros” or some bullshit like that then please don’t reblog any of my pro-palestine posts, ever. Genocide should not be a vehicle for your bigotry. War crimes against a group of people is not a vehicle for your bigotry.

didn't realize my last one was that long. Geez (this one is also fucking long, bare with me)

I feel like ever since elementary, all our teachers liked to talk about how the opposite of love isn't hate (there was even a text during 6th? grade about this whole thing.)

Tbh I haven't looked much into lore so I only know the gist of it(I'm such shit, but I know I will have literally no time to study if I get invested in the dsmp) so there may be wild guesses here and there down below.

The way Quackity's expressions ranged from stoic to a weirdly kind smile to aggressively scary and ruthless, it's all just so.. *gestures wildly with hands because I have no words* ..angsty. The grip on Dream's hair like he wants him to listen carefully but he is losing all patience and sanity and sympathy for Dream. The crazed look from Quackity(his last block) is just so cold and bitter and kind of filled with self-pity, like he's been there before (I actually don't know if that's the case lmao) it's the look from textbook villians(I know he's not one) when they become insane and starts spilling all that they know in the most poisonous way possible.

Also, again, last block giving me chills. Sapnap's glare and George just walking away with absolutely no care and no desire to turn around sums it up beautifully. Good work, really really beautiful.

ive thought of this for a long time now but i just had to urge to get to drawing it when my twt tl starting going deep into c!dream's lore.

i just ABSOLUTELY love lore revolving around the dt. (maybe because im more attached to them whoops)

its just so fascinating to think about. (everything onwards is /rp and /character) also, you said youre not that caught up with lore so if you dont get these things or dont wanna bother/get spoiled, you can just ignore it lol i just really needed to rant about his character thats all, needed to get it off my chest phew

dream from the start had a plan: make everyone on the server hate him and build a prison for someone so strong it'll be needed. for me there is no way he was talking about tommy or techno then. no way.

he definitely had a fall to corruption. what he did with tommy during exile, that one is inexcusable ofc but the other things??? destroying the community house, siding with techno during his arrest, even destroying a whole ass country (this one might just be him reaching his limit against lmanberg, being the first and basically only country to defy him sm and stuff)

its weird and interesting in a way. what he did, the destruction, telling everyone he has no more attachments, not even sapnap and george, putting george on the throne then dethroning him not long after-- all these things just seems like it's part of his plan you know???

but like, what for? why? what does he want? earlier in the smp, he just wanted to build a home for them, one that will grow and be beautiful (theres a certain tiktok edit of this one, i am going to cry) he was such a good guy in the earlier days, he just wanted to take care of the server and take on the responsibilities expected of him but it just all... fell?

but even then, from the start, i cant help but think that he was already alone. sure, he had sapnap and george and the others but after everything: after sapnap was so quick to jump on tommy's side after ONE thing that dream said in the heat of the moment to threaten tommy (the 'i dont care about anything' bit), not trying to clear it up with dream and with george being so quick to side with other people's statement (dream dethroned him bc he hates him, etc) than dream's own (to protect george), its just so sad. not to mention even before everything, those two formed new nations without dream before; while dream was fighting for his own alone, they didn't really care enough. they did this again, with kinoko kingdom but tbf, the destruction of the community house felt like the end of the greater dream smp.

its just... sad and tragic, his whole character. his life is like the joker, baby. BAHAHAHA

1.) What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?*

Oh there are quite a few I don’t understand so here are the ones that bother me the most 😄

1.) Obitine: Sorry guys but I’ve never gotten the hype for this one. The Clone Wars has made it pretty clear that their relationship was a catch 22 in that both parties would have to sacrifice who they are as people in order to make their relationship work which would be so unfair to both Satine and Obi-wan. Obi-wan is a Jedi through and through and Satine’s place is with her people. I think had Obi-wan decided to leave for her or vice versa, both of them would wind up miserable in the long run. They would both feel that there’s something missing is in their lives. Also doesn’t Obi-wan deserve to be with someone who wouldn’t make his hairs go grey for once? The man is surrounded by chaos all the damn time, give him a break! Furthermore, hot take folks, your first love isn’t always the right love for you nor does anyone need to be with anyone to feel fulfilled in life. I accept their relationship for what it was, two young kids who crushed over the other and that’s that. Obi-wan felt plenty of love from his Jedi family and that’s that.

2.) Codywan: For similar reasons to the above, I never understood the fascination with this pairing. First off, don’t burn me because this is coming from a gay person, but Obi-wan doesn’t come off gay to me? Second, the interactions we see between Obi-wan and Cody are very professional. They admire each other sure and I can see them being friends, but I just have a hard time seeing them in bed together, but hey I’m not a hater and each to their own.

3.) Literally any straight pairing involving Ahsoka and Barriss: These two are gay goddamnit and dont get me started on L*x B*nteri 😡 The way he treats Ahsoka is so not okay for so many reasons.

5.) Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?*

Anidala I think; I don’t hate the pairing by any means but the amount of excuses people will make to justify Anakin and Padme’s choices when it comes to each other are interesting to say the least. Anidala was sweet in the beginning but it did turn toxic as seen in the later Clone Wars episodes and in ROTS.

11.)Is there an unpopular character you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?

I’m gonna have to go with my girl Barriss 💙 Barriss (along with her Master) is a severely misunderstood character that deserves so much more than the fandom is giving her. First off, if you’ve ever read the Legends books “The Approaching Storm” or the “Medstar” duelogy, you would come to find out what an absolute sweetheart Barriss is. She’s the OG Force healer and she cares and feels so deeply for others. She’s still a sweetie in Clone Wars until Feloni and the gang decided to take a racist turn with her and assassinate the character George created with the temple bombing. People love to forget that the poor girl was RIGHT about the Republic and the Clone Wars and it doesn’t take a psychology expert to figure that a teenage girl with PTSD (from being forced into being a child solider like Ahsoka) whose apart from her mother figure and loved ones often would be vulnerable to making a choice 😔 A choice that she clearly regrets mind you if you pay attention to her facial expressions and voice. There’s actually a deleted scene of her apologizing to Ahsoka, thus that’s proof that she never wanted Ahsoka hurt or involved. Also I’m pretty sure Barriss got screwed in whatever deal she had going on with Letta and I’m positive no one was supposed to die. We’re talking about the same character who was perfectly content with dying by suffocation or parasite here for God’s sake in the name of saving others. Barriss deserves better and she deserves so much love and happiness and I hate that she and Luminara are so disrespected by the fandom and canon itself. Where is she Feloni? Is Barriss safe? Is Barriss alright? I love her 💙🥺

i completely agree with you, gnf deliberately using voice changer i /assume/ so that even if people clipped it, they dont have the /actual/ gnf saying all those things.

also, dream said that while theyre okay with shipping/fanfic/fanart made of them, that doesnt necessarily means they want to see them. i reckon that is gnfs approach as well towards it. wait idk where im going with it im just rambling lol

i haven’t watched the vod yet i’ve just seen people talking about it and the one clip but i get what you mean and that holds some merit i think, when george finds doing/saying stuff embarrassing he tends to avoid it or does it in an obviously silly way like the way he “sings” or how he’ll do accents etc.

george seems to have this thing abt not wanting embarrassing stuff sticking around forever like when someone asked him abt wearing a maid dress and he respectfully said no because he doesn’t want something like that existing online and that’s just what i mean, the boyfriend thing could’ve definitely been something he didn’t want to deal with for whatever reason (not up for speculation)

and to kinda answer the 2nd half of your ask, here’s the thing, dnf becoming this big was genuinely unprecedented we live in a post-heat waves era where the shipping of dnf (especially on main) has become really normalised, also in part due to how dream and george haven’t said anything against it and their boundaries to what we know since the serious stream have remained the same i.e they “don’t care” that’s all fine and good!! i’m happy w that i’m happy they’re happy and comfortable :)

i remember when you’d be crucified and torn apart on twitter, ratioed to hell and back and cancelled for even joking about dnf not too long ago and i’m not saying that was ever okay and dream + i’m assuming george absolutely hate people speaking on their behalf but the inverse, where people are comfortable consistently making jokes about georges sexuality (specifically george) on main and letting those tweets get big enough to where there’s the potential for him to see it, even spamming his replies? personally i don’t see that as a good thing

dream and george have given us explicit permission to talk about dnf but that doesn’t extend to discussion about their sexualities, george says it takes a lot to make him uncomfortable but i don’t understand why you’d want to push it remember when george made that serious tweet about not editing pictures to make it look like he’s saying slurs (a homophobic one in question)? did he ever explicitly make it clear he didn’t want people to do that? no, because it’s kind of common sense and we still made him uncomfortable, that’s what i meant saying not everything has to be explicitly stated by a cc for it to be a boundary or something you shouldn’t do and i think it’s incorrect that as a fandom we’ve been operating like this (although upholding their stated boundaries is important)

i really don’t know if people want another moment where they cross the line with him and he has to address it and you shouldn’t always have to wait for a cc to address something for it to no longer be okay just use common sense i’m iterating once again that there is a difference between harmless dnf jokes that fall within their stated boundaries and truthing their sexualities on main near constantly + reading into things like the boyfriend thing on twitter again, openly

i don’t personally know how george feels currently about dnf whether he ever meant for his permission to mean that people should talk about it in the privacy of fandom spaces (although i get why you’d think that), i can’t ask him what he’s specifically okay with

but i can be normal, enjoy him + his content and dnf casually in tandem on my blog, support him and just encourage others to think about the way they talk about him it doesn’t hurt to not send that tweet or to tweet constantly about george being gay because xyz (insert stereotypes)

at the end of the day george is george his lax boundaries and how chill he is about everything is nice i’m glad there hasn’t been many instances at all where he’s had to speak to us directly about feeling uncomfortable however if he does even subtly make it clear he doesn’t want smth clipped/talked about it’s not hard to respect that and to respect him
