"Humans?! That must've been so scary for you! What happened next?" Leyelu asked as she stretched, laying herself stomach-down in the sand in front of Neteyam, batting her eyelashes.

"Yeah, did you fight them? I'm sure you did, since you are such a strong warrior," Nayat smiled, scooching her seat closer to the boy.

"Um...well, I didn't-." "Impossible. I can imagine you swooping in and saving your family. All heroic-like," Srraza smirked, openly raking her eyes up and down Neteyam's body, not caring how uncomfortable he looked.

Their shameless display made you want to vomit, and possibly scream, at the same time.

There were a total of three girls. Leyelu, Nayat, and Srraza. And all were practically throwing themselves at Neteyam.

It had been about a week and some change since you and the Sullys arrived at Awa'atlu. And every day, without fail, these girls managed to tail Neteyam, following him and showering him in praise whenever they could.

You hadn't had not two seconds alone with him before one of them, or all three, came barging in with some fake excuse of a heavy basket they needed help lifting or a boat they needed help loading.

You knew Neteyam never entertained their advances, and were thankful for it.

But being his mate, you couldn't help but feel frustrated. (and maybe a little jealous)

"If you scowl any harder, it's going to become permanent," Kiri playfully warned, your face amusing her.

"Are you alright?"

"I'm fine," you curtly answered, tearing your eyes away from the scene angrily.

"Yes. I'm fine is stretched tightly across your face right now," Lo'ak smirked from his spot in the sand, hands behind his head as he subathed.

"(y/n), I hope you know that Neteyam would never-." "I know," you sighed, already guessing what Kiri was going to say.

"Just what?" Lo'ak asked, ears perking in intrigue.

"It's not that I'm scared Neteyam will leave me. It is just...I don't see why he won't," you started, staring down at your feet in shame.

Kiri and Lo'ak both whipped their heads towards you in disbelief, their expressions contorting into ones of confusion.

"What the hell are you talking about?" Lo'ak asked, confused.

"Lo'ak!" Kiri scolded.

She was thinking the same thing, but he could've been a little easier on the delivery.

"Look at them," you sighed, holding out your hand to the girls, who were still fake listening to Neteyam's story.

"Leyelu's father is one of the best hunters in the clan, only second to Tonowari. Nayat's mother is incredibly skilled on the loom, who is now teaching Nayat everthing she knows. For Eywa's sake, Srraza is studying under Ronal to be a healer."

The brother ans sister's expressions slowly softened, the meaning behind your words now coming to light.

"You are the best dancer the Omaticaya have ever seen. And the best the Metkayina have seen, as well," Kiri tried to comfort, a warm smile on her face.

"Oh, yes, because dancing can help me hunt for food. And dancing can help me make clothes. Let's not forget, it can help me heal as well," you sarcastically agreed, snippy.

Kiri sighed.

She didn't take it to heart, not one bit. She understood your frustration.

"They all have spent their years learning skills that can be of use, be important. All I have to show for mine are a couple of dance moves."

Lo'ak looked like he wanted to say something, but decided against it until you were finished.

"And the best part of it is they are all gorgeous, the most sought after girls in this village. And I'm just...me."

Kiri felt her heart ache.

She had no idea you had been feeling this way this whole time.

She thought it was just a small case of jealousy. But it seemed to be much deeper than that.

It was as if you didn't even exist.

"(y/n), wai-." But you ignored Kiri, abruptly standing up, not wanting to watch the scene any longer.

"Dammit, (y/n)! Sit down and look," Lo'ak groaned, roughly pulling you back down and turning your face to watch Neteyam.

"Do not touch me," Neteyam sternly ordered, grabbing the girl's wrists and pulling her hands of him, harshly.

"I know that you know I already have a mate. And you trying to make advances on me while knowing that is incredibly disrespectful."

The girls were giving him puppy dog eyes, as if that would guilt him into stopping.

It made you gag.

"I do not appreciate how you've been disregarding (y/n) this entire week. Especially when she has done nothing to you."

"That's exactly the point. She does nothing. She is just there with you. You two do not even act like mates," Srraza scoffed, rolling her eyes.

"That is true. I never see you two hug, or kiss, or embrace each other romantically at all," Nayat agreed.

"Because any time I get alone with her is interrupted by you three!" Neteyam exclaimed, annoyed.

His sudden burst shocked you.

You didn't know he felt this.

"I only get time to myself every once in a while, and I like to spend it with (y/n). But ever since I've gotten here, you three have used every mean under the sun to keep that from happening. For Eywa's sake, that was what I was on my way to do now before you all came along!"

"But why? She doesn't hunt, she doesn't loom, she doesn't heal, she can't even carry a tune. She's boring, plain. Why would you willingly want to spend time with her?" Leyelu asked, cocking an eyebrow s she crossed her arms.

Ouch.

"That's why you look like a dead fish, bitch!" Lo'ak loudly called, making you and Kiri die in snickers.

The girl whipped around, glaring daggers at the boy.

"Lo'ak!" Kiri tried to scold, but couldn't through her laughter.

"It's true! If her eyes were any farther apart, she'd be able to see the back of her head," he huffed.

You were his friend. And he didn't like people talking shit about you.

Meanwhile, Neteyam was using every ounce of his strength to not bare his teeth at the girl.

"I don't care about what she can't do. I love what she can. She's a phenomenal dancer, and has forgotten more moves than you three will ever learn. She's funny, she's kind, she's caring, the farthest thing from boring. And her beauty makes the three of you look like a patch wet sand. I am lucky to call her my mate, and if you all would excuse me, I'm going to spend the rest of the day with her," Neteyam angrily corrected, pushing past them and walking towards you.

And as he drew closer, you smiled, wider than you had in a while.

You felt foolish for thinking he could do better than you.

Especially after he just confessed that he believed he could do no better than you.

It made you feel happy, and loved, and secure in your relationship.

There was no one that could take your place because you were the place, and the only one who could ever be it.

And now knowing that fact, sent you over the moon.

The decision is not one that doesn't come with consequences, yet still feels easily made. Because it has been long enough and they deserve their own family too. They don't want to make it a public thing, but they don't want it to be a secret any longer.

And then Max wins with the FIA being a mess and when both Max and Lewis leave the podium both, people start to think this is some kind of crazy protest but everyone goes even wilder when they notice how the both of them return with a girl of a few years in between them.

The interviewer takes his chance but max interrupts him before anything can be asked.

"It's us talking from now on, if you ask anything you can consider your chance gone."

Lewis just smirks, looking at everything that's happening.

Lara interrupts, "Daddy, who is papa talking too?"

“Chapter 5: Meeting The Tavish”

It has been two weeks since we moved and everything is going very well, I have been strengthening my bond with Rita as well since I have liked her since I met her.

Then last week I went to cover a group and it felt a bit strange since it was not my thing, some young people were surprised by how I explained the subject, it was about earthquakes and how they are caused, but hey. Speaking of natural phenomena we have for now reached a hypothesis that would be the most logical:

"Something in this town is causing this phenomenon and it can become a simple device to a device, it may sound quite crazy but here the thing is unusual, option three is that it is a natural thing as in the case of ball lightning ”. "We are doing very well." Roger says putting his hand on my shoulder. Thank you, it was what I needed ... How we always greet the receptionist and teachers, as my mother used to say “You always have to have respect for everyone”. We sat down and decided to inquire silently, we only heard writing, sighs and silence, until we heard someone running and the phone ringing.

Someone calls and an ok is heard in the distance, I go to the room and there are several paintings of important people, among them was a family made up of a man in a suit with a painter's beard, his ocher eyes, a woman in a typical dress pale pink princess, dark brown eyes, a distinguished nose and a bun with bangs and a short man, formal suit as a duke, a ponytail and hat. But his face was lined with a black desesperate circle.

There's Adelle, too, in a casual red dress and a messy bun. We all take a seat and the talk starts. Adelle and Roger Peterson, right? That's how it is. Well, as you may know, we are the Tavish family, founder of this wonderful town. They tell us about Gammy Flo, a lady who makes “Golden Apples” that are actually sweets. As with Mayak 0-14, they helped her to do well. They asked for tea and cookies to continue chatting.

By the way, how was the creation of the golden apple and how were the first days of it? Simple, all due to a candy and chocolate accident, she did not do so well so we decided to give her a little nudge to make her go well.

Wow that was interesting, I see Roger and he's chatting with Mr. Tavish.

“I had never seen a woman with a hair style like this." Well for me it makes it more comfortable since it is not difficult to do. Returning to the theme of golden apples. Are they still selling themselves? Of course.

It lasts longer that I unexpected. We even finish making our notes and letting us know that we are leaving. We say goodbye and go straight to our house. I hope Rita is well besides having arrived at her house ...

When I was going out to reach Roger, screams and cries were heard, to prevent them from noticing that he was there, I decided to be the most stealthy to listen and the following was heard:

the odd’s that kris would even show his face around his is...slim to none. nonexistent. he had pretty much buried the place he grew up in in the back of his mind. no longer a thing to remember, a ghost of a memory even. he told himself to never think about the past, the past isn’t important despite all the talk on how it apparently shapes who you are as a person b.s. so why was kris on the bus ride back to town? back to the place where the childhood memories started and were crumbled...truth be told he wasn’t entirely sure. he just had this random feeling to just go there. to visit it for a few hours and then get on with his life like it was nothing. that was really the plan for the visit, he didn’t have much of a reason to come back. his mother well, she was out of the picture sadly and his father....it’s complicated and they don’t have the best relationship so no family to visit and friends, well possibly but he doesn’t want to bother with seeing them. he is aware of how much this could be a risk...considering with the ahem, ‘job’ the male currently houses, coming back to the town you grew up in and having people recognize you isn’t the best thing to do.

so he’s risking alot and all because he’s feeling nostalgic, how wonderful.

closing his eyes for a moment, he took a deep breath as the bus slowly came to a stop and pushed himself off from the seat after a minute or so of sitting. for a moment, he was tempted to not get up but eventually his legs were moving on their own. slinging his bag over his shoulders. he slowly sauntered his way off the bus. stepping on the ground and took a good look. taking in on what has changed and what hasn’t changed -the answer is not really-. everthing looked how he recalled when he first left town with his original plan of backpacking around. there was still this creepy convenient store that scared the local kids, the oh so familiar diner that housed the best waffles. the familiar long roads where kids would ride their bikes until the late nights having bike races.

It was a disaster. Fire was everywhere, the number one pro hero was with half of his face injured and was already being taken to the hospital and the tension in the air didn't fade away even when you were walking peacefully on a streat just to cool yourself down... Not even a single soul was near by, exactly what you wanted.

You couldn't saw the villain's face at the time due to your distance, but the amount of flames was already enough for you to start panicking. Especially when they reminded you of someone, he was working at the time, what if something happened to him?

Even if for some odd reason you couldn't feel a good vibe coming from Endeavour, you still felt pity, that would be a nasty scar engraved on his face (lol sucks for you my man)...

You checked your phone in your pocket to see if he had answered your worried messages, someone felt pity over you to Dabi not only answer but after at least 5 minutes later.

"-Geez Doll calm your ass down I'm okay, just had to deal with a bullshit of a coworker who can't do even something that was comanded... I'll probably be a little late to get home but until there relax a little would ya? I can see you trembling from only reading your message."

"-Asshole I was woried sick about you, I don't even know where the hell you work at!"

"-Well as you can probably see not in the midle of the city, because I would be dead already right? Unless I'm texting you from hell."

You heart was pouding so loudly that you missed half of the conversation before Hawks said something that you swore you felt your world crashing down.

Dabi was with almost giant wide eyes, lips slightly parted and that expression of his... fear, panick... You never saw Dabi in such a desperate stage.

Instead of looking at you he decided to fix his gaze on the kitchen floor, mouth opening and closing trying to find words to answer that...

"H-how... It was Hawks wasn't it?" He laughed maniacally bringing his hand to hide part of his face "That fucking-"

"It wasn't." You interrupted, afraid for the hero's life "I-I kinda... heard your conversation from earlier...it was my own curiosity that lead me to find this... I'm sorry for worrying you, but that's why I took so long to come back..."

Silence... oh for dear god above how you hated this silence.

He lift his gaze from the floor to you, eyes fulled with deep sadness and regret...

"So...? Not gonna do anything?" He asked "Call the heroes for help? Report me? Start yeeling at me saying I'm a monster, that I shouldn't even have a place on this fucking world...? C'mon Doll... don't need to hold back." His tone was so deplorable... like he wanted you to end his existence right there and now.

He closed his eyes when he noticed your steps and just stood there, waiting for the worse...

Guess both of you got surprise at each others actions tonight because the last thing he would expected to feel was your loving embrace engulfing his gloomy figure.

You carresed his scalp making him shiver, and it didn't take too long for cautiously scarred arms to hug you tight in return, maybe if he just caged you in his arms you wouldn't leave...

No, he did deserve to be left on ashes... He wouldn't do this...

"Why didn't you tell me?" His breath hitched again.

"Why?" He chuckled darkly while hugging you tighter "Just look at what your hugging sweet cheeks... I was too selfish to tell you because I didn't need more reasons for you to leave me behind... but also due to your safety, imagine what could happen... heroes would be tracking you down because of your bond with me..." he breathes you in and carresed your hair gently before mumbling something in disgust "Even if you got nothing to deal with it..."

You stayed like this for a moment before letting out a giggle.

"You know it's funny." You rubbed your fingers up and down his back "It was actually so obvious, you were too good at hiding or I was too dumb to know... Maybe both?"

He mumbled a shut up before burying his face in the crook of your neck.

"So... what now?" He asked.

You pinched hard at one of his ears piercings making Dabi yelp; yes yelp; leaving your embrace immediately to cover his ear in pain letting out a few lot of curses.

"What the fuck was that for you little sh-?!"

"That." You pointed at his ear "Was for hidding such a big information like that from me." He rolled his eyes in annoyance

"Okay point tak-" you interrupted him with a small but hard punch on his stomach, not for him to feel imense pain but not to be comfortable either.

"WHAT THE FU-"

"That. Was for you threatening a life only beacause they mentioned my name, you're going to find more trouble than you already have with this."

"Oh fuck you you little shit." He spilled out the words glaring at you with his previously hand on his ear now on his stomach. "Done already?"

"Actually no." He groaned as you made your way towards him.

"That." You spoke while gently putting both of your hands on his face and bringing him for a long and passionate kiss. When both of you parted, Dabi eyes were clouded with wonder yet adoration.

"It's for you to even think about the possibility of me leaving your sorry ass behind. Beautiful, intelligent, protective, loving... a very cocky bastard-" Both of you chuckled at that "I have the whole package... why would I want to leave behind someone just as perfect as you? Be a villain, hero, civialian or whatever.... I love you to the moon and back my beautiful fireball."

He let out a few breaths laughs before bringing you tight to his chest, you pretend to not the feel some tears driping on your face and shir.

"You're fucking crazy you know that?"

"Maybe for you I guess." You happily snuggled on his chest, adoring his scent.

"Fucking weirdo..." he whispered so quietly the next words that if it wasn't for the proximity of you two you would have missed it.

ahh hello my angels !! so i’ve been eyeing this group for quite a bit, and i couldn’t resist so here i am ! i’m jada, and this is my first child here - na chunja ! she’s the lead vocal & maknae of primera, and an overall handful ! some of her friends call her ambitious, confident, and versatile, but those of less favorable opinions say she’s vein, manipulative, & stubborn ! i’ll leave that up for you to decide, though. if you want to know more about her, click here for her profile. truth be told i’m a bit unprepared so that’s all i have for now, but if you’d look under the cut there’s some wanted connections & info !

she’s always lived comfortably, not chaebol level or anything, but she’s in the upper middle class & has never really struggled, per se ?

originally had dreams to be a cosmetologist, but and eventually create her own makeup line ! beauty’s always been super important to her & she wanted to get into the field.

all that being said, being an idol has never really been everything for her ?? she had alternate career paths, stable income, all that. so that’s where her entitled mindset comes from ! but let’s back up for a minute, back to predebut chunja !

was a lot more naive & bubbly back in the day ! she never imagined she’d get anywhere near the fame she has now, always that she’d just be “the girl who could sing” to her classmates once they’d graduated and that was that. 

but while out shopping with some friends at 16, she was street scouted and asked to audition for so!ar entertainment !! was super ecstatic but confused because like - why did her goofing off with friends scream “idol material ??”

it was only after auditioning that she realized it must have been based on visuals, because while she was confident in her abilities, she saw toooons of other auditions better than hers who didn’t get picked since they didn’t fit the “idol mold”. this was the start of her hate for the industry lmao !

trainee life is what really started reaching her toward the person she is now though ! going into it she was very optimistic, friendly to everyone, & just excited, but she soon learned that training was a dog eat dog type of thing ! to go up, you had to be a little ruthless, and that’s just what she did, started getting more and more competitive.

and then debut came !! she hadn’t been expecting to primera to get anywhere as big as they did. in all honesty, she’d expected to flop like the groups before them had ! once she realized that wasn’t the case though, she started getting veery comfortable in the spotlight.

quickly developed the spoiled princess mindset !! being the maknae of the nation’s girl group, she got used to all the doting & became very vein

while she’s always loved the baby image, a part of her wants to step out of it and be taken more seriously as an artist nowadays !!

she’s also been in the industry for a whole, so she’s seen all the ins and outs, including how corrupt it can be ! honestly she’s so tired of the sexualizing, favoritism, crazy rules, and pointless scandals ! it was exciting when she was younger, but she’s getting to be a true adult now and simply doesn’t have the time for any of it. even amongst primera, she’s aware a lot of groups like impulse didn’t get the shine they deserve because of public favoritism towards primera and she just doesn’t think it’s okay at all !

also she doesn’t like the fact that there’s so much emphasis on visage in the industry, especially since lots of idols seem to be deemed talentless visuals & she just feels like hard work is far more important ! essentially she’s like yes i’m pretty but that’s not that important

and that brings me to my next point - remember i said being an idol wasn’t everthing to her ?? well that still applies ! at this point she’s basically like “you can’t hurt me” & doesn’t take company threats too seriously so she doesn’t have a problem speaking up on things as best she can within contract binds !

actually, she’s been more and more interested in going solo, especially when news about sora leaving broke out. as she’s grown to be more independent, she’s become more interested in more meaningful music & wants to perform things personal to her, and honestly is just tired of the same pop love songs.

alternately, she really just wants to live a normal life nowadays, but that isn’t feasible at all. if she settled down somewhere & tried going to cosmetology school, she knows dispatch would still be watching her everywhere she goes and things can’t quite ever be the same, which is why she’s so frustrated !

buuut she’s also scared of being a flop so !! hasn’t !!

anyway she has two major nicknames among fans - baby empress, because she’s soft in the face but has powerful & commanding vocals ! and cheonsa chunja, which basically translates to angelic chunja because of her gentle features !

as primera’s grown to be the most senior group relevant on the market, she worries they’re moving towards obscurity and soon will lose fan’s interest. she’s spent a decade of her life having fame handed to her on a silver platter,  and isn’t quite sure how to handle things when that’s no longer the case.

in terms of personality, she’s kind of turned into a humblebragger, and just lets fame get to her head !! she knows what she wants & gets very upset when it’s not given to her, and simply wants things her way !! baby star syndrome everyone

also very confident & a little cocky !! it transfers well on stage because stage presence is what she’s best at, yet offstage it can be a little offputting !! like dear god if your muse comes up to her looking for some advice or something she will go into a whole rant about how they paved the way she’s the main reason why i-

bold !! very bold, and unapologetic. she’s romantic, likes to drink, party, all that, and isn’t afraid to say any of it !! also a confident bisexual yet is constantly screaming her affections for girls !! 

along with that - she’s not very good with commitment but !! if she likes you, she will do anything to get you, and that’s just that !

there’s two sides of her - the one she has around people way younger than her, where she’s a little nurturing and puts on the “all-knowing sunbae” facade !! but those around her age / older who’ve known her for a while get the goofier, more transparent side, more like how she was back in the day !

she can do the primera choreography fairly well, but never ask her to do anything outside of it !! she’ll just fail horribly. thank god her charisma is here to save her !!

but she does claim she’s the best rapper out of the vocalist and while i don’t believe it ?? she refuses to take no for an answer !

totally irrelevant but she’s got a black pomeranian, theo, who is her true son !! she doesn’t stop posting or talking about him !!

this is just getting ... way too long ?? i expected it but didn’t want it to happen ! sigh, anyways onto the wanted connections !!

Good evening, everyone~! This week’s Thursday Book Club is officially beginning! Today we are discussing Kamikaze by lan Tupper, Havana Nguyen, and Carrie Tupper; Edited by Rachelle Udell and D'Andrea Seabrook~! (https://kamikazeanimated.com/comic/)

Remember that Thursday discussions are completely freeform! However, every 30 minutes I will drop in OPTIONAL discussion questions in case you’d like a bit of a prompt. If you miss out on one of these prompts, you can find them pinned for the chat’s duration. Additionally, remember that while constructive criticism is allowed, our focus is fun and respectfully appreciating the comic. All that said, let’s begin!

QUESTION 1. What is your favorite scene in the comic so far and why?

my favorite scene so far is probably the huge long sequence that follows the bomb explosion and markesha is running away. i love just how real and down to earth that scene is. like markesha doesnt magically come to her destiny or just treat what happened is nbd after suddenly becoming a ninja. nope, shes runs, like a normal person would do regardless if they were a runner or not, and is pursued. everthing about this sequence really carried this tension. cause in this moment she was not some future superheroine. she was a young woman terrified for her life. and it just felt so relateable.

I have several favorite scenes. One of them is Markesha's confrontation with Franco. The intro to that scene is thick with tension; I love the juxtaposition with the radio/music and could see it play like a movie in my head! http://kamikazeanimated.com/comic/kamikaze/pg-2-gatekeeper/ Not to mention how it ends. It's the first time something works out right(ish) between Markesha and Orson. Due to the circumstances, the scene leaves a lot of distrust to be resolved, but it was nice to see that first step of working together. It struck a good balance of tension and a truce.

another scene im particular to is that scene where markesha is standing on the rooftops debating whether she should work with orson or not. not only is it beautifully illustrated, but i really like the juxtaposition in the story. like showing her other opportunity leaving the city without her. cause once that caravan leaves, its really a no way out declaration. markesha is trapped whether she wants to or not.

i do love the franco scene for how it painted the world. cause in the opening sequence i was like, "come on this is the post apocalypse he seems the type to be packing a gun." and then boop, he pulled out a gun and i felt vindicated XD

but i just really appreciated how the character really acted in the worst way possible per expectation of the world

Also not exactly a scene, but one detail I really liked was the "fresh wild meat" store with the live rabbits. It's a nice nod to the rabbit... metaphor...? thingie, but I loved it for the little mundane worldbuilding bit it was.

That whole bit was thrown is as a bit of a metaphoric way of saying, "Markesha's releasing the story into the world herself whether she realizes it or not."

i appreciated too the subtle world building it did too. cause it both demonstrates in a small way how desperate everyone is for food while at the same time showing how theyve made everything work and are still able to operate somewhat the same as before

I think it's interesting that y'all zeroed in on the tension/action bits. Most people tell me the parts they remember the most are those between Markesha and Toshi.

i like seeing markesha and toshi interact, but at the same time theyre father and daughter. so at the end of the day theres probably gonna be love and hugs and theres kind of a safety net there where their relationship is concerned.

meanwhile everyone else is ready to put a bullet in markesha's head

I'm partial to child-parent conflicts so I've been more interested in Markesha's situation with her missing mom than with her dad.

ill be more keen on their interactions later cause toshi was the one who really wanted markesha to take orson's job. but he also seems the most likely to go "wait shes doing what i didnt approve of that"

QUESTION 2. After avoiding it for a while, Markesha does agree to help Orson’s group. Do you think Markesha is finally settled on helping the group, or will she continue to panic and try to run for it? How do you think her first mission will go? Do you believe the first mission will help cement her motivations for helping Orson, or will it scare her away again? What do you think will happen when Markesha’s father finds out exactly what she’s doing for Orson? Further, do you think the Razors will figure out Orson covered for Markesha and was actually the one to deliver the bomb? If they do, what will they do to both Orson and Markesha? Finally, how do you think Markesha will mature and grow over the course of the story?

I think my personal fave scene is the one where Audrey and Orson butt heads in the 2nd episode. She's totally not down for this, thinks it's a bad idea, and I think it says a lot about Orson that he'll take that kind of talk around him. Like...he's not so iron fisted he won't hear someone drag his ideas for the desperate moves they are.

orson is one of those characters where i dont know if i should love them or hate them. but like in the good tense way that keeps me on edge. hes this perfect blend of being a cool dude while at the same time kind of being a jerk.

Only made it through the first two episodes, but of those, I think my fave scene is actually when Markesha rubs the rabbit talisman and leaves, and beat panel, and then Toshi does after she's gone. The sort of thing that you could have totally skipped over, but gave much more weight to his character early on, in my mind.(edited)

i want to believe that markesha's panicking is kind of done in the sense shes just gonna run forever. i think though in that first mission she's going to be moving forward on adrenaline and saying shit a lot to get through it. however, i think once orson is back he can explain things better, and that will cement in her desires more. that and i think shell see the opportunity as a way to improve toshi's life at the end and stick with it for that reason.

i 100% think when toshi finds out he wont be happy tho

Okay, more or less here, catching up on the start. I guess I went for the more traditional. Though the bit with the mother is kind of heartbreaking. Though at the same time inspirational what with how close Markesha's become with her dad. And I totally missed the metaphor of releasing the rabbits.

A couple runner-up scenes... right at the beginning, where the elevator opens and it's full of security guys by accident. I thought that was funny. Also, well played, setting up this guy as the main character and it's actually his team that are the key ones moving on.

Second runner up scene... welp, if you know me, you KNOW I'm shipping Kamikaze and Flare, so yeah.

As to Orson, here's a crazy theory. His "trial run" was actually to see if a bomb could be delivered fast enough to not explode in transit. He's in league with the bomber, presumably indirectly.

The idea there was that Orson was throwing a hail mary that a courier could be hired to do the job, but her parameters were a little high for untrained runners.

As to Rebel's questions, I think Markesha's instinct is to run. I was honestly inclined to smack her upside the head for disobeying her father the way she did, when he was making sense. Can kinda see her point of view, mind.

One of the hard realities Orson has to constantly deal with is the fact that he can't control everything in the outer city. Doing his jobs a lot easier when you can leverage everyone, but the chaos of Outer Trinity is almost a force of nature that he's just kinda...gotta make the best of.

If I had to pick a favourite character, it might be Toshi. Not just because he's a writer, but because he's doing his best under crazy circumstances. And doesn't let his blindness stop him. (Also, my God, all the pathos for the issue with his wife.)

i dont know whether to applaud toshi's dedication to his wife or not. cause i mean loyalty is an admirable quality, but theres also a point i agree with markesha and its time to smack him into realizing she probably isnt coming back.

as for favorite link moments, probably the scenes at markesha's house. especially where he critiques audrey for how strong shes coming on...and then proceeds to come on very strong. besides being funny, i think its a good moment that shows he does basically just kind of his own moral compass for better or for worse.

but i also really liked the dialogue sequence between him and audrey that markesha could here

cause it really showed the vulnerability everyone is in atm

QUESTION 3. Despite having to work for Orson, there are many questions surrounding Orson’s work. Who exactly are Audrey and Link, and how do you think they wound up working with Orson? Who exactly is Orson? What are Orson’s personal motivations for participating in the project? For that matter, why is Orson so hated and blamed for what happened to the Cornerstone family? What do you think happened to the Cornerstone family exactly, and how might it tie in to the story? Also, who is Orson’s boss? What are they trying to accomplish as far as changing the balance of power goes? How are they trying to accomplish it? Lastly, what do you think was in the canister seen at the beginning of the comic?

Idk what to think about Orson, I can’t tell if he’s good or bad. Leaning more towards good though. My fav thing about this is that it looks like an animated series and the father-daughter relationship is a pretty good one and I feel like I don’t see that very often so kudos to you guys for that

@mathtans You're quite right. It's complicated for Toshi. There's most DEFINITELY an edge of "I won't leave her," but there's also the complications of leaving in both a mental and physical way. He's lived there forever, had memories built with his family, and leaving means he'd have to re-learn layouts all over again. That can be stressful and painful for someone who can't see.

As to the latest question, maybe Orson's boss is one of those people vying to fill the vacant seat at the council chambers.

but toshi wouldnt even consider leaving till markesha super forced his hand. and to me thats the point where it reaches obsession cause hes willing to trust is some rando stranger and risk his daughters safety just on the .000001% chance his wife is coming back and because eww change. and while i empathize with toshi, that is a moment where i felt hes just being a bad dad. cause his own pain is more important than the life of his daughter

And as to the canister, I'd say it had seeds or something, but it was apparently super heavy without the suit, so that doesn't jibe.

Rebel: Fair point about the stranger trust thing. But there were some logical arguments in there too. I guess there's layers of opinion.

I like Orson. He seems like he genuinely believes what he's doing is the best option for many in a crappy world, and accepts the shady aspects of it as a necessary price. There's a lot about him that's yet to be revealed, so maybe I won't agree with his endgame, but I still see an inherent value in that... belief in a non-self-centered goal.

im gonna take a stab in the dark at orson's motivations. i think the cornerstones essentially got murdered in a mysterious raid that im sure no other high ranking family had anything to do with. and that for better or for worse, orson got blamed because someone always needs to be blamed. and orson blames himself but he also recognizes how the system is flawed. so he wants to change the power dynamics by changing hte food system or something. cause food does seem to be the controlling factor here.

It's a wall of text and a (kinda) open letter

To preface and TL;DR. I made one tweet about how excited I was for what happened this episode and someone replied shooting me down for supporting Bumblebee saying that they just hugged it's not canon they didn't say I love you or kiss, when honestly I'm not a person that's for or against it I just kinda want the girls to be happy and it just seems like it'll be together. And that made me happy for them. Then I saw someone on tumblr being berated with people snapping at them for being sad for their different ship, while still being happy for Bumblebee shippers. So this is a post about...fandom. About how I think we should probably be considering being better to eachother if we aren't already.

Everything past here is it

Bumblebee being this close to all but outright "theyre in love love!" canon is great. It doesn't mean that people are allowed to hate other shippers now, or that the show is picking favorites in ships. These are fictional characters that have had certain stories written for them for a long time. If someone still wants to ship monochrome or ladybug or freezerburn they can! That's why the term canon exists to set apart the difference. It doesn't make it anymore of a reason to put down other shippers. Some people have lost general interest in the show for a long time and in honesty this fandom doesn't really help in this regard.

Bumblebee shippers that aren't sending death threats to writers or other people that ship something else, thanks for understanding and being a good person who is fine with whatever outcome could have come from this show.

People who think the writers gave in to fandom, please rethink the possibilities of this, we're at the point where the things Monty used to say were thought of a long time ago are finally coming to light. We got the Lost Fable which showed how the moon shattered, something that's been in the story since the trailers (back at the end 2012 and start of 2013- 5 to 6 years ago). We got more answers to Silver Eyes something that Ozpin mentioned in the first episode as a simple character trait. There are things that are probably so far down the line still we can't think of them. We don't know the answers to why things played out the way they did. If you want them maybe try watching some interviews on Rwby Rewind? Maybe wait to see if Kerry or Miles answer questions or write about what it was like to do this storyline. Just please don't jump to the conclusion that things happened because of fandom. Fandoms do fucking crazy shit, especially into the start, when maybe they don't need to and should just enjoy the show for what it's being in the moment.

If you think this is so wrong and Yang and Blake could never be together, they both like men only or something along those lines: No one has set such lines. Just because Blake stood by Adam or kissed Sun's cheek means she can't love Yang. There are bisexuals! And just because a lesbian dated guys previously doesn't mean she isn't any less of lesbian! She just realized she doesn't have that interest in men bc she dated them but is happier dating women! The same way gay guys can date a girl and realize that they just aren't into women!

If someone wants to drop the show, let them, if someone doesn't know if they want to leave the show behind, let them decide what they want to do, its their own life and they're intrests. If something isn't catering to them and they have other things and interests then maybe just let them live their life. Everyone has reasons for losing interest in something for different reasons, so don't jump at them with assumption that they're reason is bad. They can do what they want.

If you are dropping the show because you are homophobic, byeeeeeeee! I can't tell you any other way that this is the worst reason to drop a show and it's not even the shows fault or the fandoms, you're just not that great a person and I'm honestly surprised you've been in this fandom for so long as it is. Thank you for leaving and making or random just a bit of a better place for it. You can do what you want somewhere else.

Shippers, keep shipping respectfully, be the best you can be to your other shippers. Tell them how great that fanfic was or how pretty that fanart is, you don't need to say not your ship the creator does ship it so you dont need to oreo your compliments (sandwiching a thing you like, thing you dont like, thing you like, kinda comment). And hey maybe explore other ships! Not the illegal ones of course (age, incest, etc.) But maybe you never thought of Yang and Ren together or Blake and Velvet, and it sounds interesting! Be open and accept that just because someone else ships it doesn't mean they're trying to force it down you're throat. If someone is trying to come at you saying you're ship is trash and they're ship is the best, kindly tell them to fuck off and that you know they shouldn't be talking for a bunch of other people when there's like a billion other ships that are also perfect, including your own. This is sounding a little aggressive now but understand that I mean ships, just cuz you don't like them, don't mean anything because they're just a fun activity that people partake in creating content for. They deserve the respect that you would want from someone else.

Sorry for the wall of text everyone but if you read this, think I'm ridiculous for trying to be some "voice of reason" or someone who thinks this fandom is going to shit, wait. I'm plenty aware of what the fandom is like and what other people do to others. One of my favorite artists is getting anons and such about being a bad person because they are considering dropping the show. Its fine, they may be dropping it for their reasons and not for the reasons of someone else who is toxic, it's their own choice. You may say "well the show needs more support as it is now that all the homophobes are leaving" yeah it will and it's wrong you think that it won't get that. I have every faith that everthings gonna be okay, I mean I'm still here and I can't stand some of the things that have happened when it comes to real life people and this fandom, but this show is not the fandom. This show is what people see in it. This show is what people love about it. It's what people ship in it to their own satisfaction. It's what Monty, Kerry and Miles wrote TOGETHER. This show is everything that's happened in it and not what fandom hates or loves. It's just what it is.

Sorry it's long and that I only seem to contribute these kinds of posts but I appreciate that you even took the time to consider one voice in this.

AND...EXACTLY AS I WROTE IN MY BLOG FOR YEARS.....the 'season' of crime and criminality has temporarily shifted from the VERY CRIMINAL AND VICIOUS aboriginals to the the VERY CRIMINAL AND VICIOUS white ones......

It's a pity the shithead trying to escape Police wasn't killed because they surely deserve it.....oh, and they were escaping Police in a BMW vehicle....not an 'ordinary car'..and they crashed into a blackboy,.....mustv'e been one strong blackboy (they can be) but then again in criminal incidents SO MANY TREES have been crashed into and have survived (barely).

I expect now the local sales of BMW's will now rise as shitheads think they're safer and more capable if you're a criminal chased by Police....

The shitty NEWS treats it all and simply focuses on the car being torn in two...and that the occupants (criminals) survived......

And as for the criminals now being in a city hospital.....THAT just makes things hell for hospital and it's staff AND all other patients.....I KNOW because such a thing happened to me when I was in hospital for an injury and swarms of 'certain people' took over the hospital ward I was in and plenty of uniformed Police were called in and we innocent patients all were hurriedly evacuated far away into another hospital ward elsewhere and the ward was sealed off........because of the 'certain people' having taken it over and before the Police incident had been attracting more and more and more......as if it was a fucking free hotel with free meals and free entertainment and free everything....

At first the hospital idiotically tried accomodating all these shits as if it was all a fucking HOTEL! - The fuckers took over patients beds, ordered AND ALSO STOLE meals from the hospital rounds.....patients meals were 'vanishing' whilst patients were in other hospital areas..and then we innocent patients kept getting blamed whenever we dared to ask for our meals....and it all made hell for everyone.......

AND YOU DID NOT READ ABOUT THAT IN ANY NEWS....NOR WILL YOU.....

The hospital corridors were FULL of Police......a riot ensued more than once culminating in we poor patients being transported out to other wards on and in our hospital beds and the entire ward being emptied out......

Oh, and the ones respsonsible were the usual untouchable criminals that everyone tries to ignore and accomodate and do everthing for despite them never taking no for an answer and worse than rabid foetid rats......

In a hospital......

A hospital....that's supposed to be caring for the infirm.....but the criminals NEVER care about anything but themselves.......

Today this mid morning I was ONCE AGAIN accosted by fake friendly begging shits.......

As I was going there to get a simple small loaf of plain bread from out of the small change of mine I had scraped together because I'm so poor.

But even as I was walking to go past them I stated clearly and simply, "I'M NOT INTERESTED. AND I'VE HEARD IT ALL BEFORE. YOU'RE GETTING NOTHING OUT OF ME."

And before I'd even reached the door they STILL launched into badgering me to wear me down to just give them swathes of money so they could just walk around the corner and go into the booze shop......or buy cigarettes....or others stuff to have with the booze....

THIS IS NOT NEW OR UNUSUAL SHIT...IT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS AND YEARS AND YEARS AT THIS HELLHOLE......

(And the booze shop has also been the scene of countless crime and criminals and Police.)

And soon enough the streets have emptied stinking bottles smashed on them, on the footpaths, thrown into or smashed into peoples yards., fighting in the streets, criminal thefts out of peoples vehicles, thefts of peoples vehicles........

And also they'd get soft drink bottles but were actually filled by them full of hard booze so they could wander all about the streets forever drunk and violent and criminal. - If any Police vehciel was seen nearby, they'd just drop the bottle and come back to it (maybe, IF they could rememeber), and there was SO MANY MANY bottles left all over the place andor hidden in innocent residents gardens which was handy for them when they would rob them too. -- ALL THIS WAS/IS NOT JUST CONFINED TO ADULTS BUT CRIMINAL 'CHILDREN' TOO.

And all this FOR YEARS WAS ALSO BEING DONE BY THE VERY VERY CRIMINAL 'CHILDREN 'OF THEM TOO......AND ESCALATING.......(there's temporarily a 'lull' period of those VERY CRIMINAL AND VERY VERY VIOLENT CHILDREN shits...)

And ANY and EVERYONE I told anywhere else they totally REFUSED to believe any of this was happening or had hapened or could happen again and again and again......

And because THEY could not accept such shit was actually going on...THEY BLAMED ME.....OR THOUGHT ME 'MISTAKEN' or such, despite countless Police incidents......all of which YOU never read in any damned 'informative' NEWS....

And 'anonymous Watchers' roamed the streets (AND STILL DO AGAIN) watching and noting down on electronic devices things they oberved as they slowly walked around (or slowly drove around) sticking to set regular permanent routes and timetables which the criminals learned of them and avoided them like clockwork...the criminal shits.

So I fucking well just STOPPED doing ANYTHNG for ANYONE.....NOBODY cares and nobody does anything, least of all with the situation with dear Fliss and myself being terribly parted.......of which I WAS BLAMED FOR TOO despite myself being totally innocent and dear Fliss being totally innocent.....

But no.....fucking dickheads still keep thinking it's ME....only because THEY can intelligently talk to me....since they refuse to try to even get near any stinkin' booze addled andor illegal drugged-up crazy insane violent guilty criminal others who could attack them at any moment AND the criminals get away with doing such.....

I have a question regarding car insurance. I'm 29 years old. I've been in 3 car accidents but was not at fault for any of them (2 of the times my car was sitting still! lol) and I've never gotten a ticket for any of those accidents. I used to have insurance through State Farm, full coverage for a 2004 Jeep Liberty that cost 50-60 a month in upstate NY. While driving to NYC one winter I got a speeding ticket, my first ticket ever! I was going I think 82(?) in a 65. This was just before I moved to NYC, and because I got the ticket in a podunk little county I was driving through I had no idea what the name was, the ticket flew out my door and I lost it. I figured they would mail me something else to tell me the payment was late but I never received anything else about it. Well I found out later it was because I moved, even though I moved about 2 months after the fact they wait quite a while to send another notice, and I never received it. Thus, my license was suspended but I never knew. I never got caught driving without it either. So I moved here in 2007 with my Jeep which I was very behind payments for, and then it got towed away for alternate side parking BS. I could have borrowed the money back then to pay to get it out but I let it go. Alright so long story short, I don't have the truck, it was auctioned. I'll be done paying for it through a collection agency settlement offer this May. If I had kept the truck, I would be paying 200+ more a month than I pay now, and I wouldn't have been done paying it til August 2011. Plus I would have had to pay to catch it up the 3 months I was behind, plus pay my boyfriends brother back who was willing to lend me the money to get it out of the car jail (lol) I had the suspension lifted last July so I could rent a car, again no issues. So I'm thinking of buying a 2,000 car (cash! I learned my lesson) in June when I'm done paying for the truck and I want to get no fault insurance. I know it will be a lot more here then what I used to pay, and in addition I now have a suspension that wasn't there before. have a few issues I could really use some help with. The family car that I have been driving wasn't in my name but I was still covered on the insurance until one day I hit a mailbox with the passenger side mirror. [Sophie]: I use she her pronouns and Credence uses they them and he him, this episode is going to be about long distance relationships and specifically about long distance plyamory but first you may or may not have noticed I have a new guest host so Credence tell everybody a little bit about yourself

[Credence]: well hi, thanks for having me Sophie um my name is Credence umm I'm twenty four years old I studied writing and gender in college umm I don't have that many interesting things to say about myself

[Sophie]: that's fair, how long have you been doing polyamory

[Credence]: I've been into polyamory since ooh, it's been about five years for me I've been in polyamory about five years

[Sophie]: umm are you comfortable talking about how you got into it or is that a bad memory

[Credence]: oh it's not a bad memory at all umm I actually am still with my partner who introduced me to polyamory she at the time was dating another person and when we got together she was like this is who I am this is what I do and I wanna give you as much information about it as possible but um it was a really egalitarian approach to relationships and I was really intereted in that because she was a wonderful person and I really liked her other partner and it was just kind of a soft introdution and umm it took me a while to start dating other people but that that's it's own story cuz I'm kind of a playbook of what not to do sometimes with polyamory [laughs] uh but right now I'm in , uh, I have three wonderful girlfriends who are amazing, oh god I want you to edit so much of this out it's so bad

[Sophie]: and then we share another one  uhh of those wonderful girlfriends and the other one I haven't quite sunk my claws into yet

[Credence]: yeah you once you meet uhh once you meet her I'm sure that, it'll be uhh a ripple effect until you two start dating

[Sophie]: yeah probably that's generally how my life works

[Credence]: gotta collect em all

[Sophie]: it's actually funny you mention that because I'm playing pokemon ultra moon right now and I'm very pokemon saturated ya know we talked about polysaturation in a previous episode and feeling like you have too many partner uhh and I actually wish that I had bought the game earlier instead of playing it earlier cuz this would have been a really good intro for the polysaturation episode but I've just got so many pokemon in there right now that I can't train any of them up to the level that I kind of want to and I'm still very early in the game so I'm just catching new pokemon all the time so it's just, I have this wonderful paralell I was like this is just like polysaturation I'm just so pokemon saturated and then I turned off the game and stopped playing which isn't really a solution for your polysaturation

[Credence]: so today we're going to be talking about as you said long distance relationships and specifically how polyamory works in conjuntion with long distance relationships so what constitutes a long distance like how far is far Sophie

[Sophie]: uhh well umm boy let me get out a ruler here hold on

[Credence]: oh yeah

[Sophie]: yeah well I with I had a good goof for this cuz I was planning on being the one that asked that question and then forcing you to make a good goof about it but I didn't have anything prepared but basically

[Credence]: oh well here I don't have anything but I can I can vamp

[Sophie]: oh okay

[Credence]: uh wha- [unintelligable] you give it a shot

[Sophie]: I'll get it

[Credence]: you try me

[Sophie]: so Credence what constitutes a long distance relationship ya know how far is far away

[Credence]: well uhh for me and my abandonment issues far away is pretty much over three feet

[Sophie]: [laughs] okay that's actually very good

[Credence]: so uhh no okay uhh that that was a goof umm in reality the distance isn't really so much like it ya know the distance isn't the part where it gets complicated or like there isn't like you must be there isn't a you must be this far away to consider yourself in a long distance relationship there is no like measure or maker for that but it's basically it it's long distance constitutes anything that makes seeing each other difficult

[Sophie]: yeah absolutely

[Credence]: or like a special occasion not something you can do very often now that doesn't mean that ya know you have to live super far away for that to be constituted uhh for it to be considered a long distance relationship but it also means that if you live in the same town and you just choose to not see each other that much that's not a long distance relationship it's because the distance creates an obstacle that has to be worked around

[Sophie]: right absolutely well and I think that ya know re- and in realtiy ya know what ya know when we talk about this a lot of it depends on what kind of transportation you have access to or whatever because ya know lets talk about a partner that maybe lives like an hour away well if you're in an area that's like you have a car or there's lots of high speed trains you might not consider that long distance but if it's a situation where you don't have your own transportation and there's not really a public way of getting there and to get down there you have to like take the bus and it goes around this long winding three hour route all of the sudden that becomes enough of an ordeal that you might consider that long distance uhh it's really kind of in the eye of the beholder basically as you said I think ya know whenever there's a barrier to the amount of time you can spend together that's dictated by the distance between you and your partner that's kind of when we start to call it a long distance relationship and uh in addition what that ends up meaning a lot of times is that most of the communication in the relationship and interaction happens through a medium such as the internet or letter writing uhh obviously internet more commonly

[Credence]: there's also these amazing things called phones

[Sophie]: yeah or over the phone

[Credence]: I know that my social anxiety would lead you to believe that they don't exist

[Sophie]: [laughs] I guess I'm so umm even texting to me is the internet even though it, it's technically not it's just instant messaging is so like internet fixed to me but absolutely yeah technically that's not the internet or or phone calls too

[Credence]: yeah I was, I was making a joke about talking on the phone because us mellenials are incapable of doing that

[Sophie]: yeah

[Credence]: but honestly though, social anxiety

[Sophie]: yeah umm but anyways ya know most of your interaction is gonna occur through one of those type of mediums and not ya know in person and that's by neccecity and not by choice it's not that ya know seeing your partner all that often isn't important to you or  that umm ya know you're choosing not to see them all that often ya know I also wanna mention part of the reason we're, ya know, it's like why are we  talking about long distance relationships uhh aside from the fact that they have their own unique situations and problems that are often ya know created [unintelligable] of existing they often have their legitimacy challenged by the rest of socitey and many people feel that it's impossible to have a healthy productive meaningful long distance relationship now they're wrong

[Credence]: yes, they're dead wrong

[Sophie]: ya know you can be wrong plenty of people are wrong about everthing there's people that ya know don't like pickles and there's people that uh do like ranch and there's people that

[Credence]: oh come on

[Sophie]: [laughs]

[Credence]: that was low

[Sophie]: yeah that was low I'm sorry hunny, Umm but umm ya know we just wanna that that is something that some people think, they are wrong and if you think that, that just means that you really need to listen to the rest of this episode

[Credence]: hell yeah we'll convince you

[Sophie]: so, oh--go first sorry

[Credence]: and along with long distance relationship often having their ligitimacy challenged you have the added component of being polyam long distance relationship and like the legitimacy of that being challanged as well as very unique challeneges to communication and umm partner quality time that that are added components to specifically being in a long distance polyamory

[Sophie]: yeah absolutely yeah I think that that's a good point uh absolutely so when we're talking about long distance relationships uhh what goes into ya know a lot of people I think have never had a long distance relationship or are maybe in a long distance relationship for the first time so ya know how what goes into starting a long distance relationship how do they typically start cuz it doesn't exactly follow our social script ya know

[Credence]: yeah it's uh it's always a buckwild ride let me tell ya umm I have had several long distance relationships and uhh it's it's about as awkward for me asking somebody out in person as it is for me to ask somebody out umm online even if it wasn't for a specific date just even just being like hey I like you check yes or no if you like me

[Sophie]: yea there's uh I think that ya know a lot of times on this show we talk about  having a lack of a social script and having to ya know make your own uhh based off of that and [laughs] this is definately something long distance relationships in general aside from long distance polyamory this is something where you definately have to uhh kind of make your own umm how do you want to say uhh kind of script for because ya know typically we associate relationships and especially early relationships with dating and going on dates so when you're not able to just go on a date with someone or whatever that's a significant barier to a lot of times even just feeling like your relationship is real and legitimate and it of course is but sometimes that can lead us to feeling like they're not legitimate

[Credence]: yeah yeah in my experience uhh the kind of like script that often comes out of like like looking back at the progression of how I went from like talking to this online friend to dating them is usually like ya know pretty standard as far as like what you would expect in an in person encounter of like flirtatious conversation getting to know someone uhh but  then  as you like as you talk more you get to know this person more uhh like the conversation tends to shift more towards like more of the flirtation

[Sophie]: no I think that's really good ya know one of the things you said early on and I don't know if you even realize you said it but I thought it was very good talking to a friend and ending up dating them and whatnot uhh that's not always how it happens in person it would be ideal and everything but a lot of times pepole will, ya know they don't wanna date their friends or whatever so they'll just go out and try to find someone that they're physically attracted to or whatever

[Credence]: right

[Sophie]: and ask them out, and online interactions I don't know if that's ever happened to anyone that is that is so I guess different that what I always hear about basically you almost always end up dating a friend, ya know someone you like and usually a close friend uhh so in my opinion I guess I think that's something that long distance relationships do better uhh than ya know like uhh ya know your traditional relationships

[Credence]: yeah yeah I mean like in I mean you can't tell me though you haven't like thirst followed someone on twitter or something right

[Sophie]: I only have a my only twitter is the polyamradio twitter so I've never actually done that

[Credence]: you know what I mean though right

[Sophie]: yeah for sure

[Credence]: like physical attraction can totally be a component within long distance even if you meet somebody online like I mean not everybody catphishing us I don't know I have trust issues so now I"m gonna be thinkin about that

[Credence]: but like ya know like there can totally be like a physical attraction component if like you you're following somebodies blog and its like just like you casually like like their content and then go oh wow their really cute

[Sophie]: yeah absolutely but even then if you're gonna start dating them normally you become friends with them first at least in my experience

[Credence]: yeah it's definately like you strike up a conversation not like hey you're hot like don't do that like you aren't going to get anywhere with somebody if that's how you're treating them like you can have the physical attraction component but that's not the motivating factor in getting in getting to know somebody and interacting with them in long distance like the motivating factor is mostly getting to know them and like talking about them and yourself umm at least from my experience ya know I know plenty of people who kind of do online dating in a sexual way and like that's super cool but for me I'm mostly looking for partnerships built off of like solid friendships

[Sophie]: yeah absolutely umm so what goes into we talked about starting a long distance relationship ya know what goes into-

[Credence]: yeah the start is just start talking to somebody, honestly just like get to know them like it it sounds so like basic and kind of silly but just like just start talking and see where these conversations lead and like I said it's always going to come back to flirting if you guys have chemistry cuz like it just kinda happens naturally

[Sophie]: and sometimes even if you don't have chemistry and then it's real bad

[Credence]: yeah yeah that's true [laughs] then you make really bad puns and try to win women over with limeriks like me

[Sophie]: yikes that's beautiful I umm

[Credence]: it worked on you

[Sophie]: it did yeah I'm still expecting a sonnet from you at some point

[Credence]: oh that's right I owe you sonnet

[Sophie]: I uhh so ya know we talked about uhh starting a long distance relationship, what goes into maintaining a long distance relationship ya know say that you  ya know you someone was listening to this espisode and paused it a few seconds ago and they're like a month into it and they're like this is going great but I have no idea how to maintain this now uhh what's some of the basic maintinence that these relationships require

[Credence]: the biggest thing is talking to each other and I know that's scary sometimes cause communication can be scary in generall but yeah you gotta talk to each other that's kind of the big basic thing

[Sophie]: yeah absolutely I think ya know in long distance relationship ya know we're gonna talk later about some of the things that can go wrong but one of the things we're gonna bring up is ghosting which is kinda disappearing on someone

[Credence]: mhmm

[Sophie]: either deliberatley or accidentally ya know uhh if you get really busy and you realize oh shit I haven't talked to this person in a week, or longer, ya know that's not ideal

[Credence]: that's that's that is less than ideal

[Sophie]: yeah

[Credence]: that is beyond less than ideal

[Sophie]: yeah absolutely

[Credence]: you gotta keep the line of communication open even if it's just being like hey been busy we need to catch up soon and then planning time to do that

[Sophie]: yeah absolutely and I was also saying ya know finding things to do together, ya know I've never done this although I've been meaning too and I tried to do it once uhh very slyly and was kind of shot down but I was talking to one of my partners and they were they were saying ohh I'm gonna watch a movie but I don't know what movie to watch and I had heard of people kind of watching movies together over long distance and like texting each other throughout and I thought it was really cute and one of my partner was like I'm looking for a movie to watch  and I was like oh well I'm ya know do you have the birdcage and they were like yeah and I was like I'm gonna watch the birdgage so if you want we would watch it together adn they were like nah I'm not really in the mood for that and I was like awwww and umm ya know

[Credence]: no that's like actually a really great example of something you can do and umm ya know whether you like time it up so that like lets say you got them on the phone and you both hit play at the same time and youy can talk to each other through the movie I only recomend doing that with a movie you've already seen otherwise it's obnoxious, I've done that before, there's also a website called rabbit umm is r a b b dot i t, umm and it lets you set up like group chats umm and or even just like one on one chats and you can play movies in the umm online application like together like one person controls it so it starts at the same time for both of you and you get a chat window where you can type where you can uhh like type uhh messages and stuff yeah where you can message each other or um you can I think you can actually do uhh like a skype kinda call with it too but uhh I haven't tried that componenet but there's lots of websites like that that exist out there that are designed for these kinds of things like umm ya know there's ways that you can play games together online

[Sophie]: I was about to mention gaming yeah if you're a gamer, like I"m not as much a gamer I wouldn't know how to set this stuff up but something that I would really like to do sometime I think would be a lot of fun is like to play mario cart with ya know like my long distance partners or something like that like I think that that could be a lot of fun and I have no idea how to set that up I guess so tweet at me I guess if you know how to do that

[Sophie]: yeah I guess yeah so continuing on with our program now ya know what are some of the reasons that long distance relationships can commonly end ya know what are some common ya know fatal problems that they have

[Credence]: well uhh we kind of alluded to this before but uh lack of communication and lack of quality time are really the two biggest  the two biggest things that contribute to the end of a long distance relationship so umm when we say lack of quality time we don't just mean like of we don't get to physically see each other very often it's ya know not doing things like watching a movie together ya know or making sure you have a skype date umm yeah quality time can mean a lot of different things so umm not setting aside the time for that is a huge factor and then of course lack of communication

[Sophie]: yeah absolutely I think that when you look as communication without that ya know that's the foundation of a relationship of any kind so a lot of times we sound like broken records on here when we talk about a lack of communication being a downfall but without that you really got nothing and then with quality time even if you got good communication and you got a good foundation if communication is the foundation quality time is like ya know what you build on top of that uhh ya know so ya know you can have the best foundations in the world but if you're not gonna build anything on it then you're not gonna have anything cool to play with

[Credence]: and one thing about lack of communication is that that doesn't just mean lack of communication between you and your long distance partner but also lack of communication with your other partners and their er lack of communication with them and their other partners because if you're not communicating well with uhh ya know communicating your needs for like quality time with your long distance partner to your other partners then that gets kind of can get pushed to the wayside when somebody is physically with you they're forefront in your mind so if you're not communicating I need to set aside this time for my long distance partner it can kind of just fall of to the wayside

[Sophie]: yeah absolutely and speaking of falling of to the wayside we alluded to this earlier but ghosting is a problem

[Credence]: oh yes

[Sophie]: ya know ghosting typically when we normally talk about it it's something that other people are deliberatley doing so they'll disappear on you ghosting is when you kind of disappear without a trace like a ghost and, oh go for it

[Credence]: ghosting is a lot more common with long distance relationships simply by the fact that you're communicating mostly through the internet or the phone and it can be easy to lose track of communicating in those avenues because of legitimate reasons and because of purposeful ignoreing of those of those modes of communication

[Sophie]: yeah absolutely and I do just wanna say ya know ghosting is a form of abuse, if you want to end a long distance relationship ya know nut up and end the relationship

[Credence]: yeah

[Sophie]: don't just ghost, uh abandoning people can be really triggering and if as much as you are worried about hurting them ya know uh maybe you're gonna hurt them worse by ghosting and really you're not protecting them no matter what you tell yourself, you're protecting yourself   and it's not okay to put your needs and anxieties that much farther in front of everyone elses

[Credence]: I mean obviously if you are in a situation where you are being abused

[Sophie]: yes

[Credence]: or you are feeling unsafe for any like reason with a partner even if its a long distance partner becauase yes abuse can happen in long distance relationships and it takes on different forms umm but if you are needing to exit that relationship for your saftey then obviously do it but if you are just wanting to end a relationship and don't know how that's not the responsible thing to do and it's not healthy for you or ya know your ex partner like

[Sophie]: that's a good caveat yeah obviously if your in a abuse situation and you need to make a quick getaway or a quick exit, that's different uhh

[Credence]: and you never need to justify to an abuser why you're leaving

[Sophie]: and as a matter of fact a lot of times it's better and safer if you don't

[Credence]: exactly so umm but when we talk about ghosting we are talking about in a situation where there isn't an abusive element and basically it's just you're right ghosting the act of ghosting is abusing or it's very damaging and it's especially damaging with like a long distance relationship because you have this fear of never knowing what happened to this person umm ya know like never knowing if I mean did like did they did something horrible happen to them like that's terrifying and umm and I think it can take on different forms uhh ghosting can like uhh I've had an experience where I I was I recieved a very long winded message um from a partner who I had a long distance relationship with and it was a long winded explanation of why we had to break up that asssumed a lot of my feelings that didn't actually talk about any of the problems that we were having or brought up problems we were having that were never discussed and then  just justified that's why we have to break up right now and I was in shock and I messaged back just simply okay and I never heard from this person again and so like having a one sided conversation and then never talking to the person again I don't know if that counts as ghosting but the effect is similar

[Sophie]: yeah absolutely it's still damaging and I think that that's good to when we're talking about needing to exit a relationship or something like that poise is hard to have but you should try to have it and it's worth having in these situations ya know because the more poise you handle this with probably the less damaging it's going to be for your ex basically

[Credence]: yeah and for yourself because sometimes we can say things in the heat of a moment umm make declarative statements about how we're feeling in a moment and it's not how we feel long term it's just  that we're having a crisis moment and if you act on those kind of impulses without having a conversation about why you're feeling that way you can end up saying and doing things that you regret simply because well I never actually stated what I really felt or we didn't actually talk about how the relationship was going from that person's perspective ya know it does a disservice to both you and your ex because there's no resolution in that

[Sophie]: right yeah absolutely so  uhh ya know lets say you have a long distance relationship and something bad happens ya know emergencies sometimes happend sometimes a crisis happens uhh ya know when catastrophe strikes and your partners are far away or partner is far away there are some things you can do to both before hand and during to umm make the situation as easy as possible on everone and I just wanna talk about those quick we are going to have an episode eventually on emergencies and crisis and ya know stuff like that uhh where we will talk about all of this at much greater length so I don't want to make it sound like this is all we're gonna be saying about it but I wanna just ya know for long distance if someone's listening to this episode ya know there are some contingencies that maybe you should handle before these things comes up

[Credence]: definately having a game plan

[Sophie]: yeah

[Credence]: is everything

[Sophie]: yeah have a game plan the first and most important thing I think is to have a designated go between slash contact person

[Credence]: yeah

[Sophie]: a lot of times or even a couple and everybody knows their role a lot of times this is best if this person lives near you and is gonna be your emergency contact for other things let say you have a partner or a friend who is in your phone and in your work stuff as your emergency contact telling them hey there's this important person in my life and if you're not out as polyamorous you don't even have to tell them it's a partner you can just say I have this really important friend who's long distance that if I end up in the hospital for some reason or if I end up ya know horribly sick or ya know in some sort of trouble umm can you contact them on my behalf and let them know what's going on and let them know I'm fine and

[Credence]: keep them in the  loop

[Sophie]: yeah and contiuously give them updates umm a lot of times when you have a uhh a situation like this people feel pressured to pick the person they're closest to to fulfill this role as the go between that is not neccecarily oh I'm sorry uh just kicking Credence here

[Credence]: oh yep

[Sophie]: a lot of times ya know maybe the single the party you've been with longest or your best friend or your parent or whoever you're gonna have fulfill this role just because they are the person   that you are maybe the closest with doesn't make them the best person for this you're gonna wanna pick a very cool headed person, someone who follows directions very well, someone who's good in a crisis umm ya know there was a partner who ended up in the hospital recently of mine and who had  a partner that they had been with for years and years and years and this partner and I had not been together that long and I was their emergency contact not because they liked me better, not because their other partner coudln't be trusted not because of anything like that but because I follow instructions very well I follow people's wishes very well, I"m the power of attorney for a couple different people actually because they know I'll enact their wishes

[Credence]: you've got the power

[Sophie]: yeah and ya know people know I'm good in a crisis when I get a call it's ya know so and so's doing really poorly or whatever, before I break down and cry I make the phone calls I need to make and then I break down and cry, that's just something about me, doesn't make me better than anybody else doesn't make me worse than anyone else it's just how I handle trauma and crisis cause I had to do it a lot uhh so ya know not saying ya know go pick someone like me but I think that someone who is kind of very level headed good in an emergency stuff like that is a good person to pick

[Credence]: yeah I the only thing I would ad to that is just that make sure that you're picking somebody who you know can, even if you don't know how to communicate what you're like what's going on very well right now pick somebody who understands you very well in that they can communicate what you're trying to communicate so I know for myself I can be in a situation where I'm at a loss for words and so trying to describe how I'm feeling can be very difficult and so relaying that message to somebody who then relays it to other people can be kind of difficult so somebody who kind of gets your mode of communication even when you're not doing well somebody who can understand what you're intended meaning is umm and like just having somebody who can kind of help interpret for you right now because when you're in a crisis it can be very difficult to actuall state how you're feeling and what's going on

[Sophie]: yeah absolutely well and you know sometimes when you're in a crisis you feel like you've just gotta [bangs surface twice] [sings] get away I've got to, welcome to polyfolly a podcast within a podcast where we talk about the crucial and common mistakes that people make and that are the downfalls of their polyamorous relationships cue music ["tainted love" plays] okay so uhh what's our polyfolly today

[Credence]: our polyfolly today Sophie is the failure to bring up problems as soon as they arise so they don't fester

[Sophie]: that's a good one

[Credence]: in a long distance relationship

[Sophie]: so why is that ya know why is that the polyfolly as opposed to anything else

[Credence]: I think the reason we honed in on this is on is because uhh as we said communication is the basis for a good long distance relationship and if that foundation has ya know dry rot in it from the start you're not gonna be able to build shit on top of that

[Sophie]: yeah absolutely I think that that's a good analogy uhh ya know and it's I think it part I think  in long distance relationship polyamorous or no it's very easy to kind of avoid your problems  ya know because ya know a lot of times you're communicating more sparesly and you're not  talking as often so things can problems can be out of sight out of mind pretty easity

 [Credence]: yep yep it can be really easy to compartimentalize

 [Sophie]: yeah

 [Credence]: when you're in a long distance relationship so if things are not going great in fact  if things are breaking bad you can actually you can hide that from your partner who's long distance  and and that's not healthy it can create so many future problems not just for your relationship but  for yourself and for your other relationships if ya know this this person who's important in your life  only has one view of you, one view of what's going on in your life and if you're and if you're  altering that view to make it look more perfect than it is it's uh, it's just it's bad news

 [Sophie]: yeah absolutely so ya know we've gotten pretty heavy here ya know it's starting to sound like  long distance relationships are really bad but I don't think that's the case, what are some of the  benifits of long distance relationships

 [Credence]: well I'm glad you asked Sophie because I think that most people tend to focus on how challenging long  distance relationships can be and they forget how they have this unique quality to them that can  really make them incredibly special and meaningful relationships umm for me uhh one of the biggest  benifits of having a long distance relationship is being able to take the day to day stuff umm  and like get to see it from a different content by stepping out of the situation and telling  you're partner who hasn't seen you all day ya know or heard about your work stories a thousand times   they can hear what's going on in your life and give you a new perspective and just telling somebody   who'd not immidiately involved like physically there gives you the ability to kind of take a step back   from the situation and and and see it in a new light that to me I think is such a a genuinely helpful   quality of a long distance relationship

  [Sophie]: yeah it can really help you celebrate the accomplishments that you make throughout the day

  [Credence]: oh yeah and like that too like celebrating your accomplishments becomes ya know just like it's   interesting I think that we have a tendency especially as ya know speaking for myself as a queer,   autistic, mentally ill, disabled person that the things that I do on a daily basis that other people   might see as like well yeah of course you did that that's what you have to do to be an adult umm   those can be very difficult for me for whatever reason and it can be hard to celebrate your own accomplishments   whether they're big or small and having somebody who you hav- who asks you earnestly about your day   that pers- like who hasn't seen you all day so doesn't know ya know have the baggage of like well you've   been grumpy all so your accomplishments are just been, are dumb because they wern't that   big of a deal because you were mostly just a jerk today

  [Sophie]: yeah well and I think ya know well we talked about a lot of times ya know I'm a rather chubby individual now   but I used to be very into fitness and weighlifting and I was actually a boxer once upon a time   umm  and

  [Credence]: I just wanna start singing the simon and garfunkel song, you said that earlier today and all I can   think of is [sings] la la li, la la la la la li la la li (chorus from "the boxer" by Simon and Garfunkel)   okay I'm done

  [Sophie]: [laughs] umm but ya know there's something in exercises called like isolation exercises where you   take like one muscle and you only exercise that muscle and a lot of times it hurts uhh and it's a pain   in the ass and you can't lift that much weight because the muscle's working almost entirely by itself   but it makes that muscle very strong and uhh a lot of the stuff in polyamory ya know it's like stress   testing these things in a way but it can make you like a better communitator and a better partner and   stuff like that and I think long distance it isolates your communication skills and really as you   said before it hones in on em and ya know it forces you to be a better communicator it makes you   a better communicater and that transfers into your other relationships and I think that that's a   very valuble skill

  [Credence]: I agree yeah being able to work on your communication skills and learn how to communicate intentionally

  [Sophie]: yeah

  [Credence]: and like not just how was your day good how was yours it was alright cool like that like   using your time that you have with someone to communicate effectively to communicate intentionally   like what is important for you to communicate to this person and what is the timeline of that and   making you think through those things and appriciate just how much effort you need to to have   a good conversation with somebody and like ya know not everybody can be up for that all the time   I'm not saying that every conversation you need to have with your long distance partner needs to be   about deep dark conflicting issues or something like that but it's ya know learning to communicate   intentionally helps you develop when you need to communicate those ya know complex things and when   you need to just have fun in your communication with them

  [Sophie]: yeah absolutely well and ya know it you get this space to explore yourself and you can focus on   what you really wanna get out of a relationship without it just being well this person is here and   I like them a lot and I want them to be happy ya know it's all about intentionality and I think we've   hit that nail on the head here

  [Credence]: mhmm I'll drive that horse home

  [Sophie]: yeah yeah absolutely so ya know what are some of the happiest experiences and happiest memories   and your favorite things about long distance relationships cause I know what mine is but what are yours

  [Credence]: well for me it's ya know besides like that development of that intentionality of communicating   and intentionality of time spent together it's really savoring that so like not just being intentional   about it but being mindful of the moment living in the moment that you get to have with your long distance   partner and just savoring it justletting yourself enjoy it and keeping in mind that yeah this doesn't   happen very often which is sad but it counts for it is sustaining becoming sustained off of it   knowing that like I'm going to get to have more moments like this and these moments are everything   that keeps this relationship going and is doing a lot of good for me in my life and that doesn't mean   just savoring your umm your like irl or in real life time together that can just be savoring the time   that you get to be on the phone the time you get to do a skype call and see your partner's fave or hell   it can be just even savoring the moments where you get to exchange memes with each other on your lunch break   yeah I guess for me it's my favorite thing about long distance is just been learning to savor those   moments and and help me realize that my relationship can be sustained on those moments and that   trickles into my other relationships too it's like it helps me learn that I might not always get to   be around this partner whom I'm lived with for years but that doesn't mean that our relationship is   gonna fade away cauase I have this knowledge and this sense of intentionality to keep it going

  [Sophie]: yeah absolutely I think that my uhh one of the things that I really cherished about one of my long   distance relationships ya know I mentioned earlier in this episode that somewhat recently there was   a long distance partner of mine who eneded up in the hospital and those hospital phone calls were really   special to me and I really cherished them ya know partly because there was an emergency and there was   a crisis and I was scared ya know cause I love them a lot and it was hard for everybody but getting   to hear their voice was incredile and it helped so much I think for both of us umm and uh ya know it really   umm it broke up our [laughs] it broke up our day to day and it broke up the pattern that we had been   communitating in and as we mentioned before it caused us to communicate very intentionally and uhh   ya know that was ya know yeah it was a bad situation but that was something really special that came   out of it in my mind and I wouldn't trade those phone calls for anything in the world

  [Credence]: yeah it sounds like you were able it sounds like you were able to break out of that compartimentalizing   of like the relationship being framed in this one kind of style of communicating where maybe you weren't   communicating very effectively and maybe it took a crisis to do it you folks were able to find a way to   reach that kind of communicating  with ya know mindful intention to it and I think thats amazing

i had a nice weekend, amazingly enough. in some ways i feel we both made an effort but at the same time we didn’t. like we just chilled - didnt try to make plans or rush through, just accepted that this was the activity.

it helped to change the routine up a bit. since my roommate left, we decided to stay at my place. i had a friend over for tea before being dropped off at his place where we packed up some things and came back. we got weed and alcohol and watched the unabomber documentary on netflix. it was nice - no one was yelling, no one was bothered. i brought my bed out to the living room so we could watch the big screen and relax.

in the morning we went to the bakery and bought good stuff for breakfast. smoked some weed, finished the unabomber series and took a nap. then we went skating at the park downtown before buying ingredients to make a fancy pasta dinner at his house.

it was very nice. i felt that this was ~my christmas. we definitely needed time / space to enjoy each other as is instead of constantly rushing and or making plans for other things. the success of it and the lure of downtown began helping him change his min (as well as the fact he wants to live the life the unabomber lived and now he realizes its kind of crazy)tm

this week i have a doctors appointment and im supposed to get a tattoo. he leaves on friday basically but he should be back before the next friday which oesnt seem that bad at all? he’ll still be here for new years. and my birthday. considering i dont care about christmas anyways, seems like an okay deal and i’ll probably get free random shit from people anyways. 

things are 20% less bad than they were on thursday/friday last week. it’s not great but i dont want to die. which is like .... the most normal level of being for me possible rght now. i am not “excited” to see my doctor because it means ive gone off the deep end but i am excited for the relief that i will feel upon talking to a professional who advocates for me. i am considering asking if he would want to talk to one of my friends who has been dealing with me to see if it would help because i think it would help to see that i have smart friends who are active in my life in positive ways - like i still want to provide proof that i’m not just some drug addict.

on the weekend i told him the story of my cat frank. frank died in really traumatic circumstances which was totally unusual for most people. frank was very very very sick and i took him to the vet by bus because my father was very sick. the vet took my cat, performed emergency procedures on him, then asked me to pay for it. when i couldnt pay for it they gave me the option of releasing it to the humane society, which the humane society woulnt take it and i would have to rive it there myself or put the now healthy cat down. so basically i had to put it down. they wanted me to pay to put it down as well. i had a friends father come in and he yelled at them and made a ig eal and they put it down for me for free.

in my life, i figured this was just ~ another thing. he asked me why this happened, how it couldve happened, that it was like a really terrible story if not one of the worst he’s ever heard and pressed for details. i did not fully realize at the time how unique my exprience was. i thought this went with my old line of belief - i was crazy. i was the crazy one just experiencing the world aroun me and reacting to it in a crazy way. i just “didnt understand” what was happening. i was 16 and alone and just dealing with this. 

but i was not crazy. i had taken my family pet to the vet like anyone would in modern society on the expectation that they cared about animals. but they did not care at all and i dont think that people fully understand that the pet industry is about money - it is not about the animal at all. but most people will drain their bank accounts for a beloved animal. i know people who have spent thousands of dollars and acted like it was completely normal and okay. 

is it though? i dont know. it seems fucked that we domesticated animals to an overabunance and then put a huge price tag on caring for one that they would otherwise kill. when this animal once survived in the wild without any care at all. 

but i tried to explain the nuances of this story to him which he would have zero understanding of at all. it is a bit like racism. you would never understand what a black person felt if you are not black. you do not get the nuanced glances and little shuffles away from you on a daily basis that makes you feel inhuman. and you cant explain the depth of that to someone - it sounds like you’re overreacting and nitpicking when this bothers your soul because you were merely born into the world and others are reacting to you for no reason at all.

so i tried to explain the nuances of being in poverty, having an alternative style and possibly being perceived as not white. which is a weird and unknown factor to my life - i am perceived as not white. i cannot say for certain what i am perceived as - i’ve gotten mixed, spanish and asian. but many times i am perceived as “not white”. i believe as i am getting older and my “alternative” style has become more like an old witchy type lady who just wears black and i am judged even more based on my natural looks that i am in fact coming across as more native american now than since i was a kid. 

it is kind of easy to tell by clothes if someone is experiencing poverty. kind of. sometimes people are still really insecure and want to portray themselves better off because they know its more beneficial to do so. some eople have no choice at all. as a teenager my “altnerative style” itself looked poor. i wore ripped jeans and band tshirts, i had weird colored hair that i cut myself and i probably had gross peircings. maybe i was wearing makeup from the night before. maybe my shoes had holes in them. maybe my jacket did. maybe i wore my leopard print coat. i dont know. i dont even know what i looked like or what i wore - i expressed myself through my style and i was very all over the place. maybe they judged me by this.

and its so easy to “understand” the judgement of “some punk kid” but the nuanced beliefs that follow it are not. punk to many is a criminal. a drug addict. someone who doesnt care. a kid is someone who does understand, that they can control and manipulate. someone in poverty has no choice and other people wont care. they wont care that this is a teenage girl saving her beloved pet, willing to work out payment plans and everthing else to do it. 

he did seem to understand my perspective. i have alot to deal with. this is why its offensive when i have to hear him lament about some other person’s life - who i honestly have no doubt they struggled. i really dont. if i met them independently and they told me of their lives, i bet we would get along (provided they werent a drug addict anymore) because i feel we’d probably empathize with eachother far more than he ever empathized with us. and i have only heard stories from others and every story is terrible - their successes are few and far between and they actively make harmful choices. imagine how they felt life was like for them to come to such conclusions on how they’ll live. to make choices to shoot drugs and fuck with all these people without care - that’s probably a lot of people actively not loving you and/or serious mental illness. 

but when the focus is on that and them and my struggles are taken without the same heaviness or seriousness or acceptance of how this would affect me .. it’s offensive. i do not want to be in competition with anyone for a shitty life. you cannot even be proud of that. it’s just sad. i’m sa for them, i’m sad for me - it’s just sad. but when no seriousness is taken on my life, i find myself trying to defend the belief that my life was not easy. and not just “not easy” like my parents divorced  or i didnt get into the school i wanted. like really seriously not easy, likely equal to the not easiness of this person as well. i just had a completely unique not easy experience to them and perhaps it’s not as wild or entertaining? or i’m not the cute little white blonde girl? 

i explained this to another friend about a doctor. as a teenager a friend and i  went to the doctor to try and find some help for me. we were our usual teenage goth selves and the doctor pretty much laughed and thought we were lesbians (we were not, which i guess kudos to him for accepting our perceived homosexuality but that wasnt part of the issue at hand) 

this is just the very obvious points. the examples you can see where most likely some judgement occurred but the actual bigger picture is what all these nuanced interactions equal out to. if everyday my interaction with someone is clouded by pre-conceived notions of being a drug addict, a criminal, “not white” (which in itself could be leading to the first two but is racist all around anyways) or to the lesser degrees - strange, not “socially acceptable”. but i am none of these things -  am just me. 

and you know, right now i am in a place much like my friend was as a teenager. she struggled with her racial identitiy. she did not want to be seen as “brown”. she carried hatred and resentment towards her culture and did not want to accept it despite being “brown”. so like her, i am very non-accepting of drug addicts because their existence makes mine harder. a drug addict many times lives in poverty. “not white” people are perceived as drug addicts. alternative styles are seen as drug addicts. and drug addicts themselves, many of whom i’ve interacted with, are not nice people. they are not people you want to be around and yes - they are still people. under the heroin and crack, they are still people hurt and struggling. i get it. but they just made the struggle for themselves and me ten times harder. so i have to fight and defend myself that i am not a drug addict which is so hard to prove because they can believe you’re popping pills or your trip to the bathroom took too long and it’s frustrating as hell.

unlike my friend i do not have to accept my identity as a drug addict because i’m not one. i realized that i did in fact choose to take a harder route in the struggles of life because doing drugs is the easy way. and yes, smoking weed is kind of the same but i’ve dealt and cried about life. every experience ive had with other drugs has been very numbing and exaggerated and an altered viewpoint. that is not how i react with weed. i dont know if others react differently and i wouldnt argue if they did. but this is my reaction. i would smoke 2 joints everyday before i took an anti depressant which i have taken and do not have the same very positive effects. 

but when ihave done other drugs and if i chose to continue to do other drugs its a complete escape. 100% non functioning escape. and it’s not like “do a little” mdma and you’re just a little happier all day. PEOPLE ARE STILL AROUND YOUR WEIRD ASS which is affected by this drug in unusual ways like you’re a “little happier” and everyone else is uncomfortable. congrats. i do drugs and i am writhing on the floor like a piece of shit. 

anyways, he told his mother the story about the vet and she essentially pushed it aside and said it seemed unlikely. she is why my life is shit. people ust like her multiplied into the thousands. for all the nuanced judgements and personal experiences - it seemed unlikely. but it did happen. this is my life. you’re telling me my life seems unlikely. this is exactly what happened. a grown man with a government job came in and yelled at them. i know his name. why would that occur? do you not understand WHY I AM CRAZY?

i am constantly looking for validation because of people like her. not everyone is like her. some people with vast life experiences or real open minds take you for your word. anything is possible in life. but many people don’t. and many of those people hold positions of power or authority which may even be as simple as being a teacher or principal. but those people will shape and guide the path your life in society is going to take. when i told people of what was going on - they didn’t believe me, they didnt care; it seemed unlikely. so i’m left questioning the importance, my sanity, my perspective as well as dealing with the actual active problem entirely on my own with absolutely no help or direction what so ever. thank god i was an egotistical cocky angry teenager. my punk ass attitude and anger and genera ignorance got me through things i honest to god probably wouldnt even do now. younger me was ten times harder. i was ready to do anything go anywhere but i didnt because i had guilt and apathy. i didnt have the same apathy as i do now, but there was some. i dont have guilt anymore and looking back had i followed through on my teenage dreams, i mightve been better off. i wanted to move out early. i wanted to move out at like 15 - 16 years old. if my dad had not gotten sick, i wouldve been working at a job where i made 350 - 500$ every week doing shit i was fully 100% capable of doing with no issue what so ever. in a home environment interacting with one other person. i realized i had earned like 4000$ in the 3 -4 months i was working there and had literally nothing because i spent it on weed and vodka and ecstacy. then i lost the job for being so stressed out and smoking so much weed before and during work that i couldnt even do the job anymore. which was like SHIT I DO EVERY DAY ANYWAYS. 

at 17 i spent 3 months living by myself. literally. while working. an taking care of any responsibilities my sick father put on me and this is before hes even in the house. most people cant eve comprehend the idea of me doing this now but this is what i did. what you need to realize is that my mother at the time was also still alive. so for whatever reason she just ... didn’t give a fuck this was happening. she knew. she was fully aware. but not once did she offer anything. she just wanted to know if he was going to be dead or not. 

17 year old me dealt with this by smoking an insanely large amount of weed which i do not think i have even matched to this day because never have i had that much disposable income again. but not only did i smoke weed, i did a shit ton of mdma and k and drank a lot of vodka which was my drink of choice at the time. we stole my dads van, three times, for lke no purpose. it was bad. this was essentially my most punk era of time which i now look back on pretty disappointed with myself because i had the wherewithal to get a job, maintain a job but then be a complete piece of shit teenager. that was my time - had i not given into drugs or alcohol i’d have been WAY different. period. 

by not taking that way out - and i feel like people don’t understan i made a concious decision not to do it anymore but eliminating toxic people in my life and like completely removing myself from these situations. the last time of significance that i did drugs - my friend came from toronto to visit. this is what we did. the routine. she came and we woul get “bored” and decide lets just pool what money we have and get something. so i asked everyone on facebook - at the time i had probably 150+ friends (super unusual for me a really big number) and just asked anyone and everyone. a random kid who went to our school back in the day (we were probably 18 now) said he had some pills. we walked in the dark to meet this kid and he gave us 2 pills for 20$ which is a pretty big rip off but we didnt care. we went back to my place, popped them and got high as fuck. half way through our trip, my bf at the time randomly shows up. which was a big deal; he live 3 hours away and was surprising me. we were very surprised and it was awkward and weird and it wasnt like we could send him away. we had to spend a few hours with him awkwardly before she slept in the other room and i had an uncomfortable time “sleeping” with him. 

i decided then maybe i was getting too old. i spent two years doing drugs and going through his routine and it was wearing on my body already. my teeth and gums were always sore from grinding, my lungs were always sore from smoking so many cigarettes, i was spending all of my money on drugs - there was times when the drugs were clearly mixed with other more disgusting drugs like coke and meth and it would result in way more fucked up reactions like the time i hit myself in the thigh with a baton for 30 minutes before my friend noticed and made me stop. but the repetition and pain were part of the enjoyment for me. all of the times i was on drugs, i was a different person. i was someone i would never actually be. sure, my inhibitions were lower but the filters of how i truly felt and would act are no longer there and thats not a real represenation of my actual true self. these are just deep layers of myself that i may not even want to share or would normally consent to sharing if the drugs didnt affect me. and that bothered me alot. it stil bothers me - my behavior on drugs. people out there have seen me in ways im not proud of. i’m embarassed and i only have myself to blame. 

so thats the easy way. the hard way is living life within your true self and finding enjoyment in things when you can barely find the excitement in yourself. take a drug and do any activity - it’s fantastic. do nothing and it’s great. but fining things your true self wants to take part in -- long time drug addicts know the “boredom”. they never took the journey to find these passions and instead elected for the easy way to have the excitement handed to them.

and honestly? nothing really matches the thrill of mdma. or i guess crack or heron or whatever you do. i have never felt anything like it. every nerve is awake and aware, i am hyper sensitive to all of life and my mind is clear. everything is interesting and awe inspiring. 

but thats not life. you cant carry that into the slums of the ghetto. you cant go outsie and stare blindly at the sun. you cannot do it. this is not life. and its okay to someones experience it. the same way its okay to experience the heat of the sun. you can do it lightly ad responsibly. any other way really harms you.

in the spirit of positivity, here are some things that really get me going:

- playing an entire song with no mistakes on guitar and possibly singing it without fucking up or forgetting the words. super exciting to my life in ways nothing else is. it’s not even like i’m trying to play for other people it’s just a personal knowledge that i can do this and play it and feel it and create it. 

- making good food. not just like cooking food but the satisfaction of the actual creation of making something thats really good or luxurious. 

- being physically close to the person i am in a relationship with. i like the warmth and i was very deprived of physical contact but i dont like it with strangers or friends either so its a rare and nice feeling to lay close with someone. 

- a very fascinating tv show. like one that i have to keep watching because i neeeed to know. thats a unique and interesting feeling of human beings; being really curious. i guess it’s lke reading a book but i dont read much at this stage in my life but i hope ill become hat kind of person and when i do itll probably be exciting to have so much material in a world ive rarely visited. 

- cats. i really love cats. all of the cats. i love visiting people’s cats and i like to become friends with them. cats are great because they feel very individual; no two cats are the same and no matter how much the owner impresses on to the cat, the cat is just a cat and it does what it wants so it’s like getting to make a new friend even if the person you’re visiting isnt that exciting. cats are always great. even the shitty grumpy ones. or the old ones that maybe arent into you. if you spend enough time, eventually they will be and you can be friends and people think you’re a cat whisperer. i have atleast two cat friends i see regularly but i see more cats than that. we’re just not friends yet. 

- a really good song. either with really good rocking bluesy music or clever/well written lyrics.
