consider: theres almost no “feeling ready” when it comes to leaving your comfort zone. no matter what, things outside of your comfort zone will feel intimidating, unfamiliar, and even unsafe. you just have to decide that what you want on the other side of uncertainty is worth it

Genuinely thinking of @cozymochi and I articulating our thoughts on our Disney ranking. We’ve seen every animated feature and share a pretty fair and objective view on the films (pretty much all of them have a lot of genuinely good things to offer art rise with the exception of more recent 10s to 20s movies and one stinker)
Could be interesting to people who haven’t seen the anthology films or the old/new ones

The problem with any posts mentioning cloning is that some people interpret it as the cartoon/movie type of cloning, the one where someone goes into some weird machine and suddenly theres a copy of them or there's some evil version of you from a parallel universe, while other people think of more realistic cloning, kinda similar to just having a twin. It makes any conversations abt clones messy. Questions like "would you fuck your clone" are very different depending on the type of cloning in question.

even in a room full of people, I feel my solitude loud and clear, there's no ache anymore, only peace. I'm at peace now.

- White supremacy postures whiteness as superior, but superior as the common underdog/Everyman devoid of unique ability or special significance except resilience. The myth of the usurper.
"Magical races" as a common fantasy trope are a reification of this concept frequently, as they posture "man" as the white man (even when it is intended to be inclusive) and relegate the other mystical races to racial stereotypes or racialized them in general in a way that isn't applied to human(white) cultures in the same setting.
They are potentially more common and popular because they allow for free engagement with this symptom of white supremacist society, where the myth is both true and seemingly harmless. This also likely ties into why queer, and other marginalized groups who get into DnD and RPGs with similar settings to faerun find themselves playing the magical races more frequently. As well as the trope of the most boring player picking a human fighter, where "boring" in this case is functionally a stand in for white straight man™. The other end of the response to/existence of this trope likely have ties to "white guilt," aka anxiety about occupying a position as an oppressor in a society built on systemic abuse and exploitation.
What do?? Unclear. 🌺
"Humans are space orks" as a trope seems like a promising response. Or making humans magical in some form as well, so long as that form isn't clearly superior in the setting to the other magical races. Else you get the same white supremacy that HP peddles.

Me: Lena answered the Recall immediately because she always believed that Overwatch was the only thing she had, and that she owed them everything for saving her
Also me: But what if there was a hesitation there, especially when it came to reenlisting with them and officially giving up on the life that she had started to build

Am I really the love of your life like you said though?
Will I ever come first someday?
Will we really get to have a family together someday? Kids to grow, a house with a big, big garden, cats and dogs with us?
Will we overcome everything standing side by side, holding hands, like it's just us against the world?
Will you always love me like you said you do?
Will you love me, at all?

when considering the cishet male fascination with anime, and namely individual male characters often considered to be overpowered by the narrative, it would be remiss not to acknowledge the presence of the desired maintenance of male hegemony and further permeation of societal misogyny into media. living within a wealthy society recently encompassed by the reckoning of feminist movements and the attempted progression toward gender neutrality and equality, men inclined toward the fear of losing their previously held power over women are gravitationally pulled toward these characters which represent the pinnacles of male power. often these characters are male and fairly young, and should they have any rival, said rival is typically around their same age, and also male. these demographic decisions are intentional - provide the audience with a strong male presence the average viewer can project themselves onto. female characters within these narratives, even if presumed to be powerful, can never usurp their male counterparts. they must demonstrate competency, lest they be despised by the audience, yet they must not threaten the superiority of the top male characters. the marked difference between female characters of now and years prior is that female characters within our current era must exhibit some form of competency, reflecting the minute semblance of societal progression AND the dominant societal oppression within the confines of one media - thereby creating a dichotomy of power and gender.
