i think people often misinterpret frankie’s silence and compliance as weakness, but i don’t think it’s weakness at all. it’s his strength. frankie is an angry man, one who, when pushed over his limit, can’t make rational decisions (think about how he was going to kill that child and probably would have if not for santi). he allows others to make his decisions and never fights back hard enough because he knows he can’t. when he tried to warn them that the plane wasn’t big enough for all that weight, he was beginning to lose himself, but he went along with what they wanted because he didn’t want to be the one that lost his cool. everyone around him was stressed and doing stupid things and he was trying to be good, to be calm. he watched his donkey fall off the cliff, and knowing it was due to the negligence of his friends, frankie still didn’t get angry. everyone of them were fighting in that scene besides him. he didn’t lose his shit then either, because he knew someone had to be rational. it was only when frankie was beginning to think that this it was do or die that he lost himself. it took death for frankie to become the man he tries his best to crush down. his silence and compliance is not due to his being weaker; it is due to the fact that he knows himself and the people around him enough to know he can’t be weak or they’d have no one
