Day 2: Maglor of @feanorianweek
Kingship
Poppy = Sloth | Manipulation
I do think Maglor mourned when Maedhros got himself captured, I just also read Maglor as a manipulative power hungry character.
He probably convinced himself that Maedhros had died and ignored everything that proved otherwise, both as a poor coping mechanism and, subconsciously, seizing the power of being a king, although he never named himself one as that would give him trouble. He differently enjoyed the power and mourned, when Maedhros came back, for the power loss. He was happy to have his brother back of course. I don´t think he spoke against Maedhros choice to give the kingship to Fingolfin, even if he wanted it himself, as he did except Fingolfin to do something stupid and get himself killed eventually, and by agreeing he seemed more "civil" and the friendliest of his brothers, which would end up giving him political power, giving people the illusion that he´s the innocent and harmless of his family.
Maedhros | Celegorm | Caranthir | Curufin | Ambarussa | Nerdanel and Feanor

one of the pieces of anakin's fall that everyone always misses is his use of the clones. anakin skywalker, who at 9 wanted to become a jedi. who was so haunted by guilt that he left his mother a slave. who violated the jedi code because he couldnt bear to spend another night not knowing his mother was safe. that anakin. that anakin was ok leading the clones to war. the clones who were made for this, made to work and toil and die without end, so the natborns could live peacefully.
i think if anakin wasnt reeling from the death of his mother and hadnt started slipping to the dark side already he wouldn't have agreed with the use of the clones. i think he would see himself in them - forever scorned, subhuman for the circumstances of their birth, desperately trying to rise above the fact that everyone they've ever met only has an interest in leashing them. so anakin being a general and agreeing to lead the clones is much more sinister than it seems at first blush.
the jedi order agreeing to lead the clones is its own egregious violation of the jedi code. theyre peacekeepers, not generals. they fight individually or in pairs, not in coordinated attacks (see geonosis). everything about them is not meant for violence, but for protection. but for the jedi to lead the clones to be anakin - it's even worse. the jedi know slavery is bad, but they do not expend resources trying to end it - for political reasons ofc, they themselves are at the whims of the republic - but anakin has Lived it. he is more like the clones than any other jedi, which makes his leading them all the more painful and heartwrenching and sick

“ooooh late-diagnosed people have it so hard it’s so much better for people who were diagnosed in their childhood” stop it! they’re just giving you excuses! i was diagnosed with autism at a young age and my college refused to accept my paperwork because it was “too old”, meanwhile a bunch of my peers are given shit when seeking accommodations and whatnot because “ooh you were diagnosed too late”. no one has it better they’re just telling you bullshit.

Me: "I need to renew my non-driver's ID."
My Dad: "If you get your driver's license, you won't need to worry about that."
Me: "Fun fact, old man, I didn't start learning to drive until late last year, because you wouldn't teach me or help me pay for lessons when I was younger, and have zero confidence I could pass the computer test let alone the practical examine in less than a month's time, so kindly get off my shit about this and help me get this sorted so I can actually move forward with literally any of this beaurecratic nightmare bullshit-"

sometimes seeing the accommodations my school offers is like. genuinely insane. one of the accommodations for test-taking is bathroom breaks which really only leads me to wonder why were bathroom breaks banned in the first place? why is drinking water “an accommodation” and not just like. a basic right

Fantasy Paperwork...
Check notes for previous instalments
You select the weather witch position after reading through your options. You're walked through the process of applying and given a stack of forms and reading materials. You're also handed a map and a list of directions that will take you where you need to go. At least now you'll have a travel allowance.
You're directed to an adjacent room to read through the materials and complete the forms. You scan through the information you've been given: Weather witches are relied upon to reduce the effects of strong winds and flooding, mostly. They take pressure off emergency services, reduce the chances of crop failure, and are called in occasionally to assist coast witches by reigning in storms.
You'll be moving closer to the coast than the mountains and will be living on the outskirts of a large town. They'll throw up a blaze when help is needed, but the witch is also expected to know when aid might be required.
Before leaving the hall, you hand in your forms. You're told they'll be processed and you'll be required to spend another night in Ringle before you can take the stamped forms to the local council of the new town.
The next day will see you ride another wagon that'll take you further up north. You're grateful the town is large enough to warrant a stop in its centre. For now, you have some time to yourself.
