I love the Kamski and Gavin half-brothers AU for many reasons but the best one is that it's literally so convenient. For any purpose. Are you writing a fic where Nines, or Connor, get injured and need serious repairs but they're so advanced that no one has their parts? Gavin can call Kamski. Wanna give Gavin a reason for hating androids that's different than the 'just hates androids' reason? He had a falling out with Kamski. You wanna write Gavin with severe daddy issues? Well the only way he and Elijah could be brothers (with their birthdays) is if they had the same dad, so that checks. Wanna write Gavin as the 'acts like a dumbass but is secretly smart' trope? His brother is the genius Elijah Kamski, it only makes sense that Gavin would know android stuff too. Wanna write a case fic but you're too excited to write to think of entirely new characters/mysteries/villains? Kamski, or Chloe, or both, get captured and oh look at that his half-brother Gavin is a cop who takes the case. Or maybe you just like Kamski and Chloe and wanna include them in your fic? Of course Kamski would interact with his half-brother Gavin. And depending on how you write their relationship you can cover all sorts of dynamics. Maybe they're best friends who get along swell, and you can write some crackhead brotherly nonsense. Or, maybe you prefer to have them absolutely hate each other, and you can write them reconciling. The possibilities are absolutely endless and all allow for convenient and fun plot points.
The costume person for season 4 really did the most. Like, Eddie’s look was immediately iconic and absolutely dominated Halloween and other cosplay events, we know this. But Steve Harrington in an open jean vest with the bandage on his stomach and the cHEST HAIR? Inspired. The Hellfire shirts in general? Yes. Robin’s suspenders??? I need more. Nancy’s outfits? The gayest she’s ever been, and we thank her for it. In this essay I will -
The tragic thing is that we know our firsts, first time meeting someone, first time talking to someone, first trip with friends, first time you ate something which is your fav now, first time going somewhere the list goes on and on, but we never know our lasts.
What so many of you fail to consider is that for Marinette, being Ladybug is crucial enrichment. If you don't throw an Akuma into her enclosure (the city of Paris) every now and then, she will develop behavioural issues and go insane from boredom. On the other hand, whenever that does happen, giving her an Akuma usually calms her right down. It's like a dog toy, or a laser pointer for a cat.
This is a fairly common thread through most episodes. At the start, Marinette has a problem, often involving Adrien, and she goes completely insane over it, trying to find solutions that are just buck wild. And usually, an Akuma appears, Marinette focuses all her mind on that for a while, and then realises that she went too far and calms down, because now her brain has been sufficiently stimulated and she burned off her excess energy.
Yes, defeating Akumas is stressful for her, no doubt, but I think it's even more clear that not doing that is causing far more stress behaviours to appear in her. She is an excellent guardian and strategizer, great at analysing situations and coming up with plans, and if you don't give her a proper outlet for that, she will come up with her own, often with humorously disastrous results.
So the (admittedly few) posts saying that Marinette shouldn't be Ladybug, or deserves to retire, are getting it all backwards in my opinion. If you retire her, you'll have to give her something else to do. Otherwise, the next time they're in the supermarket, she will build a weird contraption out of a shopping cart, canned beans and a quizz magazine to parkour to the top shelf, instead of asking Adrien for help.
So be a bit more careful with how you treat Marinette. If you force her to sit still, she will not thank you.
it's just mildly entertaining for me to imagine elias being like "ok time to check in on the archives" somewhere around s3 and then getting hit with like 6 consecutive, self-contradictory queer awakenings.
Don't question what logical loops I had to leap through to make this happen, Shockwave's already doing that for y'all :)
do you think in universes where empurata exists that shockwave can remember the feeling of having a face? of remembering seeing from two eyes instead of one? does his head burn in pain as a twitch of non-existant lips spark incomplete pathways through his brain, does he miss the sensation of teeth and tongue beneath those twitching lips, heavy against the bottom of the mouth he no longer has?
