#AngiesReadingAdventure Not Like The Movies by Kerry Winfrey Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Maybe it’s the emotional week I’ve had so far but I wasn’t that impressed with this. It was cute in the references of the classic rom-com movies like When Harry Met Sally and Monster in Law. I also loved how Annie made a book then a movie about a fictional love story of Nick and Chloe. I feel like through out the book I got frustrated with Chloe and her decisions as well as the way she talks to those that love her. Plus we love a MOC love interest! P.S. did you know June is also Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness month? In the book, Chloe’s dad has Alzheimer’s who lives in a home. The way this disease was put in this book reminded me of how it was the journey of seeing my abuela lose her memories. Have you read this book? Let me know! This is one of the recommended ones I saw at Fabled too! okay remaining linux issues:

everytime i boot pipewire (or amixer or my sound card or fucking something) sets my speaker and headphonr volumes to 36% which means since i control the master volume i cannot go higher than 36% without having to manually set the speaker to 100%. That sucks and i really hopei dont need a script to fix it

kickoff refuses to run froma keybind but this is probably user error

still things i need to set up:

spotify or spotify tui if thats still a thing

make sure bluetooth is working and maybe a gui bluetooth and wifi manager for my peace of mind

steam

qbit vlc and lutris for the sillies

and wjayever i forgot

Juni-Rückblick

Der erste Monat der Summer Reading Challenge ist schon vorüber und wir blicken auf vier Wochen, vierzehn gelesene Bücher und ebenso viele Rezensionen auf YT, Instagram und hier auf Tumblr zurück. Wir hatten wirklich sehr viel Spaß dabei, uns für euch durch die Bücher zu lesen, diese zu bewerten und quer durch Hamburg zu wandern, um schöne Fotos zu erstellen. Wir sind gespannt, was uns auf dieser Reise noch erwartet, und freuen uns nun auf den Juli mit vielen neuen und hoffentlich lesenswerten Büchern. La verdad es que me sorprendió esta lectura. ✒ S I N O P S I S 📗 Durante los ataques contra ciudades palestinas que han tenido lugar en la última década, el Ejército israelí ha utilizado y desarrollado una táctica absolutamente inédita: en lugar de progresar por las tortuosas calles de los distintos barrios o campos de refugiados, los soldados avanzaban pasando de casa en casa, atravesando muros, suelos, techos, salones, habitaciones y cuartos de baño, sin pisar nunca las calles. De este modo se protegían del punto de mira de los combatientes palestinos y convertían los hogares de los civiles en el verdadero campo de batalla. Esta táctica fue «conceptualizada» bajo el nombre de «geometría inversa» gracias al esfuerzo teórico y estratégico de una serie de generales de las Fuerzas Armadas Israelíes, tan influidos por las lecturas de Deleuze y Guattari como aficionados a citar a Debord y a Derrida. La táctica militar de la «geometría inversa» ha supuesto un espeluznante giro postmoderno en el ámbito de la guerra urbana, y una importante influencia para otros grandes ejércitos, como el británico, el australiano o el Cuerpo de Marines de los Estados Unidos. En este sentido, los territorios ocupados se han convertido en un laboratorio espacial donde se han testado técnicas de ataque, de ocupación y de control de la población que han sido exportadas posteriormente a lugares como Irak o Afganistán. Lovely books by Osar Adeyemi @topeomotoshowrites, Angela Hunt, Simi Joel @suzi_joe, Jill Eileen Smith and Connilyn Cossette (a revelation!)⁣ ⁣ I watched the movie, Defending Jacob in May and just had to read the book.⁣ ⁣ The Russian Assassin series by Jack Arbor were thrilling 😁⁣ ⁣ The Mechanics of Yenagoa and A Broken People’s Playlist has been reviewed⁣ ⁣ @tomilolacoco took me back to OAU in The ’99 Love and then I just had to read the other book in the Rich Kids of Lagos series⁣ ⁣ I read To Love and To Hold by Bukola Adekusibe @olubukolas_thoughts in 2016, before it was published and encouraged her to publish it. I’m glad to see it in print and ebooks. Today is the last day of June, so I figured I would try a new thing out for sharing what books I’ve been enjoying during this lovely quarantine! June wasn’t my best reading month, but I did at least accomplish these lovely 3 stories. Black Lives Matter 👊🏿👊🏿👊🏿👊🏿⁣ ⁣ Since this is a book account I wanted to share some of my favourite books about black characters written by black authors. I do have a lot more than just this stack but they are on my kindle. There are so many amazing talented black voices in the book community and I encourage you to pick them up if you haven’t already. I am trying to do better at reading diversely, so if you have any recommendations please leave me some in the comments. ⁣ ⁣ Books are a great way to learn about other cultures, and it puts the responsibility on yourself to learn. There are a lot of nonfiction recommendations going around right now as well, so check some of those out too. ⁣ ⁣ As a white woman I am aware of my privilege, it’s times like this that we need to take the time to educate ourselves. Keep listening. Keep learning. If your afraid of speaking up, do it anyways. It’s better than staying silent.
