“Then what about her grimoire?” Julius moved his gaze to Ellie’s grimoire pouch but it was not there.
“Where’s my grimoire?!”
“Gods don’t need grimoires, Ellie,” Arthur said wryly as he plopped down in an armchair. “You’re a part of The Pantheon now, and you draw your power from all your fellow Gods.”
“I—Okay…” What? She sighed deeply, begging the tears to stay away. She needed some private time to come to terms with all this. “I did not ask for this…”
“We know you didn’t.” Arthur grinned. “No one asks for Godhood. You achieve it or in your case, stumble upon it. I’m sure Aika saw this coming since she met you. You were, after all, enlightened since you were born, right?”
“Yeah,” she answered meekly. She was born with eyes that burned her mother, father and midwives out of existence. She lived her life blindfolded until Miss Aika reached a hand out to her like a lifeline and taught her how to bring her strange powers under control.
Ellie didn’t like all the attention that the room was giving her. Most of them she doesn’t even know. And Miss Aika was not here to guide her through this. No one would know more about divinity than her or her master.
“That’s why she took you along, you know?”
“What?” She looked up at him. What was he saying?
“What are you implying?” Jayce growled beside her.
“I’m not implying anything! I’m saying that she only gives the time of day to people who she sees potential in, or has business with.”
“Oh, I’m sorry, but not everyone has a wrinkled prune for a heart. She actually likes the people she spends most of her day with. She has friends.” Jayce cocked his head as he stuffed his hands in his pockets in a blatantly arrogant pose. Julius, Jien, Fuegoleon and Dorothy shared a look crossed between amusement and concern. “Something you clearly don’t have even after thousands of years!”
Arthur leapt out of his seat and Jayce flinched when he closed the distance and smiled down at him, gleeful.
“Ah, but that’s where you are wrong.”
“I’m the keeper of Aika’s secrets,” he turned to look at Julius dead in the eyes. “And she’s mine.”
Julius stared back impassively, tamping the ugly jealousy that was welling up in him.
“Look at me,” Jayce bared his teeth in a mocking grin. “Do. I. Give. A. Shit.”
Ellie threw up some portals where fists flew.
“Stop it!” She turned to Jayce. “Have some respect for your elders! He’s not wrong!”
“But—”
“Zip it.”
She pointed an accusing finger at Arthur.
“And you! Responding to schoolyard taunts is beneath you,” she snarled. He pursed his lips and looked away. “People would be nicer to you if you didn’t portray the most benign things so negatively!”
Arthur clicked his tongue but said nothing.
“Okay, well, if we’re done talking, I need to take you to Aika’s old Temple. The High Priest is waiting for you.”
“Wh—”
“No.” Jayce placed himself between Ellie and Arthur. “You are not taking her away too.” He hung his head, fists shaking by his sides.
“Too?”
He exploded on Arthur.
“Aika and Evan are gone! And you didn’t even realise because your head is so far up your ass, you self-serving prick!”
“I’m going to ignore the last half of what you said.” Arthur narrowed his eyes. “But what do you mean they’re gone?”
“Evan’s dead, and Miss Aika had gone berserk so she activated her Shadowed Star spell which Ellie had to transport using impossible means which is why you are here in the first place!”
“Evan is dead?” Arthur whispered, eyes widening. “But Aika brought him back, right?”
“Yeah, but it’s not going to matter because,” Tears fell as he looked up at the older man. “Because what use is it to be alive when you can’t feel happiness, grief, anger, love, all the things that make us alive. He’s going to wake up in a month, a shell of what he is.” He buried his face in his hands. “Why the fuck do you care anyways?”
“Why do I care about Aika’s oldest child, my daughter’s beloved brother, a young man whom I have known way longer than you have?” Arthur grit out. “Where is he?”
Julius cleared his throat. This was going too far in front of people who are completely unaware of what they are even talking about.
“This discussion is getting out of hand. Evan is in the infirmary. Please continue there.” Julius all but glared at them in disappointment. His tone made no room for argument so Ellie made a portal and before she walked through it after Jayce and Arthur, she locked eyes with Julius, looking for something, permission or assurance, he wasn’t sure. His expression softened and he nodded curtly. She pursed her lips and frowned as she walked away. Julius had a sneaking suspicion as to why.
It was 2 a.m.
“What the hell just happened.”
Julius stayed quiet as discussion exploded along with his head. It felt like there was a raging storm inside but he kept calm and restored the room back to its previous state and walked over to the desk where his gifts were. He plucked the gold ring Aika left him out of its box and slid it down his pinky finger as he stared at the wisteria trees glowing outside the giant arched window that the long desk faced. He shuddered as a warmth washed over him, and hugged him like a weighted blanket.
Julius closed his eyes and for a moment, pretended it was Aika hugging him from behind. He smiled at the fantasy but the voices behind him were only getting louder.
“The Pantheon? Does that mean she is one of—”
“Who is she anyway? I haven’t seen her around before.”
“Agreed. I would remember a dark-skinned foreigner like her.”
He turned around as he took off his cloak. It seemed like he didn’t need this giant blanket for warmth anymore.
“Enough.”
A word alone brought the room to silence in an instant.
“It was unfortunate that you all had to witness Miss Aika’s troubles throughout the day but please be professional. Go home, get some rest, write a report if you can’t sleep. Prepare for the Captain’s meeting tomorrow. We’ll discuss everything then.”
Everyone quietly mumbled “goodnights” and “goodbyes” as they left. Marx and Jien gave him worried looks but understood that he wanted to be left alone with his thoughts right now. They needed time to reflect on the day too.
Julius laid back on the armchair and laced his fingers on his lap, closing his eyes with a sigh.
What a long day.
A deep laugh echoed in his head as his stomach fell.
An apparition of his mirror image sat in the sofa in front of him, legs crossed in an arrogant pose and a bemused smile. The man was his twin, looked exactly like him except for his dark hair, deep as the night sky.
“Lucius.”
“I have to applaud your restraint, Julius.”
The memories came roaring back, a migraine pounding in tandem with each glimpse and tidbit of information.
A childhood in a cold country, two brothers and a sister who were ever so relieved to see him. His real family, not the fake one his brother masterminded in Clover Kingdom. The grief, the pain, the guilt, the shame. Blood dripping down his chin and a half eaten heart in his hands. Visions of the world ending, a cataclysm of his own design. Monsters encased in crystal. The wheelchair.
Lucius kept talking.
“There is no greater story than your life,” he laughed. “And I have enjoyed watching every single moment of it. You definitely keep it interesting.”
The fear, the pain. And a reprieve. Watching swordsmanship practice. An eager friend with a beautiful smile. The only person ever brave enough to befriend Lucius. Someone his siblings looked up to with awe and affection in their eyes. The only touch Lucius didn’t flinch at as she picked him up and ran. Explosions that left bells ringing. A pact made from mercy and a new lease on life.
“You and I have disagreed on some things, but I have never taken you for a fool—”
“She knows.”
Lucius dropped his head to the side.
“Knows what?”
“Our father was her mentor. She studied at the War College. She babysat our siblings for free and our father favoured her,” Julius’s voice rose with each word in panic. “Lucius put your arrogance aside and remember! The Oath she made with Arthur broke that made people forget that she ever used Time Magic but you were so obsessed with the fact that she used Time Magic that the Oath made us forget her entirely. But Arthur and Aika never forgot as they were the ones that cast the magic. She knows about us, Lucius.”
“She—” Lucius' eyes widened.
“I desperately want to say she doesn’t remember because she has never seen me but she has always remarked how Zenon was ‘Mini-Lucius.’ She has an eye for appearances and a long memory.”
“In one of your conversations with her, she mentioned that she hasn’t been to Spade Kingdom since she had left. She hasn’t seen Zenon and she most definitely doesn’t remember us. She would have said something if she did.” Lucius touched his chin in thought. “Was it only the pact that was broken?”
“What do you mean?”
“You’ve never taken this tone of voice with me,” he scrutinised Julius. “I never allowed you to.”
Julius felt the hairs raise on the back of neck.
“I wouldn’t know if your spell is there or not because I’ve never felt it.” He glared at him coldly.
“That’s right. You wouldn’t.” Lucius only smiled. “I was just wondering because it would be a problem if my spell on our siblings also vanished.”
“Even if that did happen, you won’t be able to do anything about it.”
“After all these years, you’ve finally developed a rebellious streak.” Lucius stood up and placed his hands on Julius’s armrest, caging him. “I really do wonder where this confidence comes from. Is it from her?”
“You can’t even bring yourself to say her name,” Julius spat, his eyes glinting in anger.
“She’s not even worth mentioning.”
“Lies.” His heart was in his throat as he ran his mouth. “She just foiled your plans and it spells the end of you if she did this on purpose. And I can’t say she was your friend, but she meant something to you and you can’t reconcile with that and your delusions of grandeur.”
“Now where is this resistance coming from? This,” he grabbed Julius’s head, searching for his resolve so that he may squash it before it turns on him. “Determination.”
Julius faltered as Lucius poked around his head but he gathered his courage and grit his teeth.
“Is it, again, from her? You were feeling particularly inspired earlier in the dungeons.”
“Just because she has affected you so much when we were teens doesn’t mean the same for me. My determination comes from years of experience and rising above my station to become Wizard King.” Julius glared up at him. “Not trauma and obsession.”
He flinched and gasped when Lucius began choking him, that smug expression gone and his eyes wide in that all-so-familiar insanity.
“My, my,” he grit out between his teeth. “Where did you acquire that silver tongue of yours? You’re so quick to hurt your brother.”
Julius grabbed his wrists and gasped for air. Blood roared in ears as Lucius’s magic lashed out at him. He heard the muffled screams of souls he had consumed and Julius made a decision. Enough was enough.
He took them to the infirmary with the last of his strength and to his relief, Jayce was there. And so was Arthur and Ellie. It was two too many people but he was out of options and didn’t have space for “Plan B.” They all leapt to catch him as he fell to his knees and the moment they touched him, they felt an evil unlike any other. They stared at the warping silhouette of a demon, not unlike Aika earlier, who pressed on their hearts, as if directly  stepping on it to squash it.
“Seal…Him!” Julius gasped. Jayce set to work as Ellie held the dying king. Arthur used all of his strength to pry this poltergeist’s arms away, growling as it barely budged.
Ellie took this moment to whisper into Julius’s ear.
“You cannot keep this from her. She will know.”
He turned his quivering head in question.
“You dare? You dare?!” Lucius’s garbled screams shook the room. “After all I’ve done for you?!”
Arthur reared his arm back and punched the apparition.
Lucius’s form went back to normal and looked at him in shock. How did he touch him?
“Anyone who claims to have done something for someone and then tries to choke them has probably done jack shit.”
Jayce’s makeshift seal shook and shook, threatening to break.
“Aim at his soul,” Ellie whispered to him as Julius rubbed his neck in her arms.
“I don’t know how to do that!”
“Yes, you do,” she said gently. “It is like sealing anything else.”
Arthur pinned Lucius to the floor and bared his fangs at him. He tried to fight back by reaching for the man’s soul but it was nowhere to be found.
“Whatchu lookin for?”
“How?”
“You live for over two thousand years, you’ll find a lot of things to do in your free time.”
“Jayce, go for the soul Arthur has grabbed.”
“Oh, gee, yeah let me suddenly learn Soul Magic right now so I can find it.”
“Ugh.” Ellie grabbed his hand and placed it on Julius’s chest. “Everyone has a soul. Meaning we all have an affinity for its magic.” Her eyes shimmered with her newfound powers, and she lent some of it to him.
“Look,” she commanded, and so he saw. He saw what made the king before him: the life, the memories, the atoms—
“That’s too much.” She reeled her power back with a wince. “Sorry. Still getting used to it.”
Jayce blinked quickly and then he saw what he needed to. Two souls crowded in one body, but one was going nuts, as if fighting back.
His magic locked in on it.
“Yes, that one.”
And it snapped into place.
Silence as Lucius disappeared.
“Did it work?” Jayce whispered.
“Yes.”
“Mmm.”
“How?” Jayce jumped with an embarrassing yell when Lucius reappeared in front of him.
“You,” Julius gasped for air. “You sealed his magic.”
“That’s what I am most familiar with so that’s what I did. I-I don’t know how to seal souls!”
“That’s okay,” Julius rasped as Arthur handed him a glass of water. He downed it in heavy gulps. “It was better that way.”
“Why?” Ellie asked him. She had a strange glint in her eyes that made him look away for some reason.
“Because he had granted me mercy not once, but twice. Even when I didn’t ask for it. If you had sealed his soul, he would’ve been stuck in purgatory with nothing to see and no one to talk to.” He looked up at Lucius’s openly shocked face. “He may be a bit prickly, but he’s still my brother.”
“First thing,” Arthur raised his hands. “You have a brother? Second, him choking you is him being ‘a bit prickly?’”
“That soft heart of yours will be the end of you,” Lucius hissed as everyone stood up.
“Yeah, yeah. Okay.” Jayce caught Julius as he nearly fell. “How can all of you see him?”
“Godhood.”
“I sealed him so…”
“I grabbed onto his soul in case he acts up.”
“Godhood,” Lucius scoffed. “How ridiculous.” He gasped when a force grabbed him and turned him around to face Ellie.
“Careful,” she warned lightly. “It won’t be so ridiculous when I erase you out of existence.”
“How do you know what to do with your powers?”
“Instinct. It comes with her Awakening,” Arthur explained quietly.
“Please don’t do anything to him,” Julius pleaded.
“I wasn’t going to. If I wanted to, I would’ve when you first fell to your knees but I wanted to hear the story before I did.” Lucius closed his eyes when she tried to force him to look at her. Ellie let him go and he dropped to his knees. “I simply wanted to remind him of his place.” She picked him up by the collar. “You are a mere apparition now with your magic sealed. Try to hurt Sir Julius who is dear to Miss Aika and even the last vestiges of your ambitions and your memory would be wiped from reality.”
Silence again.
“That was hot,” Jayce whispered and Julius stared at Ellie in shock.
“It looks like she learned from the best, isn’t that right?”
“I’ve never seen you like that.”
“It’s because you’ve never seen me on solo missions with Miss Aika.” Jayce seemed disappointed at that. What Jayce also doesn’t know was that she had been faking it. It took all of her strength to keep her voice from shaking. Arthur had just calmed her down earlier but Gods she was just acting on her protective instinct. That is all.
“Er, thank you. Ellie, was it?”
“Yes,” she smiled. Julius bowed his head.
“Thank you, Ellie.”
“We have to get going. We’ve already stayed for too long.”
“Wait—”
“It’s okay, Jayce. I’ll be back as soon as I figure things out. You know how to take care of Miss Aika’s paperwork and whatnot, right?”
“Yeah…”
“Then you got this.” She laid a hand on his shoulder and leaned it to kiss his cheek. “You are more like her than anyone,” she whispered as she pulled back. “If anyone can do it, it’s you.”
Jayce’s jaw fell as she walked away. Do what?
“I’ll keep her safe and sound. Don’t worry,” Arthur smiled wearily and turned to Julius. “Take care of yourself. We’ll talk about your so-called ‘brother’ next time I see you.”
They disappeared together in a flash of light, leaving some residual magic in their wake.
Jayce led the quiet Julius to a chair next to Evan’s bed and brought him another glass of water as he eyed Lucius’s floating form warily.
“Let’s go to sleep, Sir.”
He nodded but just barely and stood up, lost in thought.
“Are you going to be okay?” He asked as he walked towards the door. Jayce faltered but in a stuttered breath,
“I will be.”
“Will you be okay, Sir?”
He paused and looked down at his feet. The silence stretched for a minute before Julius drew his shoulders back and smiled at Jayce.
“I will be,” he echoed.
Julius woke up to someone trying to break down his bedroom door.
“Sir! You are going to be late to your meeting!”
Oh, it was just Marx. He stumbled into the room as the doors flew open.
“I’m sorry, Marx,” he yawned as he rubbed his eyes.
“Don’t be sorry, Sir!” He exclaimed as he threw the closet door open. “I already ordered breakfast to the conference room for everyone. All the Captain's secretaries informed me that no one ate so you won’t be the odd one out.”
Julius jogged into the bathroom with half-formed thoughts and did a 3 minute version of his morning routine, which was the whole routine sped up to 3 minutes with the help of Time Magic so he walked out looking fresh as ever.
When Marx looked at him, he paused with a slight frown. Apparently he doesn’t look as fresh.
He helped Julius into the first layer of his clothes with the shirt and pants and when he tried to fit the brown robe over him, Julius stopped him.
“That’s no longer needed, just get me a standard open cloak.”
“You don’t have a Wizard King version of the open faced one, Sir…”
“Order one then.” Julius walked to his bedside table and slid the gold ring down his pinky and sighed as warmth enveloped him.
“Yes, Sir,” Marx said as he offered him a plain red robe. Julius moved to leave as he threw the robe on him, thinking about how quiet Lucius had been since last night. But he was stopped as Marx tugged at his sleeve. He turned around in question and Marx simply just pursed his lips and dragged him to the vanity. When Julius was forcefully sat down, he saw the problem in the mirror, he understood why his assistant looked like he was constipated.
Julius had bags under his eyes, dark enough to put a raccoon to shame. He did not have any energy left to use magic to elongate the time he slept, hence the bags.
Marx sifted through the drawers looking for something and pulled out a tube of makeup and powder that was surprisingly his shade.
“I ordered stage makeup but also the everyday one just in case,” Marx muttered to himself. “Knew it would come in use.” He showed the tube to Julius. “This is a concealer.” He began applying and blending it under Julius’s eyes. “And the powder is setting powder.”
Julius just sat still as Marx fussed over him as one thing became apparent: Marx really cared about him. He makes sure he eats breakfast, he stresses over his work, he cares that he looks good to the people. He really cares about him. He thought back to last night.
The way Jayce, Ellie and Arthur didn’t even hesitate to help him and ensure his safety just because he meant something to Aika. He wondered if Aika would also help Marx if he needed it because he meant a lot to Julius.
He wondered if Marx knew he meant a lot to him.
His eyes fluttered as Marx brushed the excess powder away.
“Don’t bother walking to the room, Sir. Just teleport.” He stepped back as Julius got out of his seat. “I have your agenda set in your seat and—” He nearly fell back as Julius hugged him.
“I hope you know how grateful I am for you, Marx.”
“Sir, I—”
“You mean a lot to me.” The younger man’s throat closed up all of a sudden. When was the last time he heard that? Heck, has anyone ever told him that at all?
“All your hard work that you put into me, I know you stress over me so much, but it’s never wasted.”
Julius pulled back and smiled warmly. Marx blushed at the emotion on the older man’s face.
“Keep up the good work.” He laid his hand on his head and he was gone before Marx could get a word in.
Julius had praised him before but not like this. This was more of an emotional confession than praise. Marx let a tear fall as he blinked. He began to worry even more now. Why did it sound like a deathbed confession? Can’t be, because Julius’s story has just started. He won’t let it end yet.
Julius sat in his throne-like chair at the head of the table, staring at the omelette in front of him.
He was early for the first time in forever.
“What are you going to do now?” He asked Lucius who stood by the window, looking out at the wisteria trees.
“Watch you, I suppose. I can’t do much when you have such fierce protectors.”
“I don’t believe you’ll just give up.”
He stayed quiet.
“Did you really spare me like I spared you?”
Julius shrugged, opening the folder Marx set aside for him.
“This soft heart of mine is the reason why you’re alive today. But I’ll tell you what? That’s a lie.” He let his head rest against the chair. “I know you wish you were dead rather than be trapped with nothing to do for the rest of our lives but that's exactly why I spared you.” Lucius stared at him in shock but he continued.
”You erased the memories of our pact, the reason why you spared me. You erased my conviction. If I had known, I would’ve acted quicker, I would’ve worked harder but no.” Julius gripped the armrests as anger like never before raged beneath the surface of his skin. “You stacked the odds against me. I never knew the stakes. Now you will get to watch me as a powerless ghost. You will get to watch me fall in love, succeed in our dream without the bloodshed you desperately wanted, and watch me be happy. You took my anger, but now I have it back. I will prove you wrong.”
Knock, knock.
Julius took a deep breath and counted to 10.
“Come in.”
The new Captains filtered in and split off in a ceremonial fashion to stand behind their respected seats. Julius nodded and they all sat.
“Welcome, Captains,” he began, making eye contact with each and every single one of them. The stasis spell over their food broke. “Please dig in while I ramble,” he joked, motioning to their plates. “We will have meetings all week because we have a lot of work to get done. But afterwards, we will have a meeting weekly and sometimes it may be as short as an hour or as long as a day. Plan as if it will take up the entire day.”
“Straying from the agenda you have in front of you, I have to let you know that there was an incident or two yesterday and a report could not be sent to all your offices in time. Captains Dorothy, Fuegoleon and Jien were present when it happened. You three can take this initiative on this.”
They took turns explaining what happened as Julius sat back and ate slowly, quietly listening. One thing that intrigued him in the oral report and the subsequent discussion was that they never mentioned the incident with Aika and Ellie. Perhaps that was for the best.
“Who is Aika Tolliver?” Charlotte, the Captain of the Blue Roses asked, directing the question at Julius directly but he seemed to be lost in his thoughts.
“Sir?” Fuegoleon called out a little louder.
“Julius.” He looked up when Jien called him by name.
“Ah, sorry.” He wiped his mouth with a cloth. “Was the question about Miss Aika?”
Everyone except Nozel, the Captain of the Silver Eagles nodded.
“She was a consultant for the previous Wizard King and is going to be one for me. Miss Aika usually prefers to work in the shadows but decided to be public recently. She is an excellent strategist, fighter, and knowledgeable about all sorts of magic and magic techniques. She was born and brought up here in Clover Kingdom but lived most of her life overseas.”
The Captains who didn’t know about Aika before erupted in silent awe.
“She left the continent? People who leave usually don’t come back.”
“Ke, was it too good for them that they can’t come back? At least she did, I guess.”
“She sounds a bit familiar to me.”
“She is the owner of the merchant and information guild, Eidolon, here in the capital. So I’m not surprised you know, Gueldre.”
“Mmhph,” Julius finished the last bite of his meal. “If that is all, Captain Sal of the Royal Guards is investigating the two assassins. If you wish to work on the investigation, talk to him. Let’s get onto the next piece on the agenda.”
“We don’t know what the next piece is because it only says ‘Surprise!’”
Julius laughed.
“That is because I wanted to let you all know, we will be having two new Magic Knight squads!”
The room blew up in discussion as they all bombarded him with questions. Jien looked utterly betrayed. He mouthed “sorry” and then answered each question one by one.
After what felt like an hour of answering questions, Julius gathered his papers and stood up to dismiss them but then, Marx’s screen popped up in front of his face, with a dire expression that he knew would foil any of his plans to relax.
“Sir! I have some news! The Spade Kingdom has retreated all its troops and our spies say that the Zogratis siblings have stepped down and pledged a Magic Oath of fealty to Queen Ciel of Spade.”
That was very quick.
The room exploded once again.
As Marx’s screen turned around to face the Captains and tell them again and again that he doesn’t know every detail yet, Julius only looked at the one person that mattered.
Lucius looked furious.
And so it begins.

Hi everyone I had this idea some time ago and talked to some people about. Few of us actually started writing something and it looked pretty good. This is still an open idea and very much a WIP, but I wanted to finally share it 💕 (took me 1.5 months to do so)
@funky-sea-cryptid @thoughtfullyrainynightmare @lyranova @loosesodamarble @koneko-pi @hybridanafrost
Some main information
Jeager pairings are the same as combo parings in BC mobile game (I'll go through them below)
This is the time, when the jesger program was at its peak, so there is a lot of them and they are well organised
Characters are stationed at the Clover base (which is in Japan) officially run by Augustus Kira (he's terrified of Kaiju and is there only to uphold his reputation and position)
The story starts with Asta and Yuno arriving at the Clover base as new junior pilots with their jeager
Just like in Pacific Rim, this story happens in real world and suit countries are bases
Jeager pairings at the beginning of the story:
(There could be more, these are just a few I have some ideas for.)
Nozel & Fuegoleon
Pilot one of the best jeagers in the whole world and are an extraordinary team.
They usually lead missions as captains.
They are very popular and known for their merits.
Everyone looks up to them and they have big fanclubs.
They go way back, so their drift is very efficient, until recent problems
They come from high situated families associated with the jeager program.
Asta & Yuno
They come from an orphanage and everyone suspects, that their parents died because of a Kaiju attack
They participate in try outs for jeager pilots
It appears that their drift is exceptional so they get it in to the training program, despite no one actually believing in them
Asta wants to become a jeager pilot, to obviously protect the citizens and become the next commander, but he also wants to impress a nun that was taking care of the boys in the orphanage
Yami & Jack
They are a mess to say at least, but at least they are efficient
This team is being sent out, when they need some unconventional methods
Their jeager uses sharp plasma edged swords and fights mostly close distance
Noelle & Mimosa
Since they come from the Vermillon and Silva families they are expected to do great
Nozel doesn't want Noelle to pilot a jeager, he says that she's weak, but she ends up signing up anyway
Girls are in the same training group as Asta and Yuno when they arrive at the Clover Base
However since Noelle was badly treated by her siblings she has problems with trust and her drift is very shaky
Her and Mimosa even though being effective in training fail in the jeager while drifting
However after Noelle gets to know Asta better, she learns how to deal with her emotions and past
Magna & Luck
They are the "wild" team
Their jeager is smaller, but very agile
It shoots fire projectiles and is able to electrocute
Luck's mother pushed him into the jeager program
At first it was hard for Luck to open up to Magna through drift
However later they begin to ghost drift... (This is Tam's and @t-f-t's idea!!!)
Also they are CHRONIC drift junkies (another amazing idea of Tam and Alex!)
Finral & Vanessa
Finral was pushed away by his influential family and ended up in the jeager program wanting to prove himself
Vanessa on the other hand was running away from her abusive mother
They clicked in the barracks, when they were sneaking out to a bar, during their training and it appeared they were compatible
They are a support jeager
Charlotte & Sol
Charlotte took Sol under her wing
They have a female looking jeager
Nacht & Morgen (Not active anymore 😔)
They used to be one of the best teams there were
However an accident happened and Morgen was ripped out of the jeager by a kaiju
Nacht finished the fight on his own, but it took a tool on him
He hasn't drifted with anyone since Morgen
He hangs around the base, but is very closed of, he only talks to few people
Julius (is he really by himself..?)
Julius is the only one known to pilot a jeager by himself
He excels at everything he does and quickly takes the lead
Commander of the forces
He has a secret partner pilot he doesn't know about... (yes it's Lucius)
Some relationships that happen:
Asta & Noelle (I have a story idea for them)
At first Noelle is apprehensive of him, but later, when she sees his good heart she warms up
Asta helps her and inspires Noelle to become stronger
She obviously never admits that she cares for him...
Yami & Charlotte
Their two teams usually don't work together and Charlotte seems to not be fond of Yami
However under the cold exterior she hides her crush on the rugged jeager pilot
They get to know each other while working at the same base
OCs
Briar belongs to @koneko-pi
Neva belongs to @lyranova
Josele belongs to @loosesodamarble
Lisa belongs to @one-leaf-grimoire
Odette belongs to @hybridanafrost
Helena is mine ;)
Solara belongs to @thoughtfullyrainynightmare
Briar (the meeting happens later in the story)
She is a modified human for a project Azure Queen
Azure-Queen was a scientific attempt to create and control their own Kaiju, made by the Diamond base
Azure queens are genetically modified women who can theoretically control the Kaiju
Each Queen has one Kaiju
Briar has Uroboros
Yuno & Neva
They met earlier in the Academy, previously to being assigned to the Clover base
Neva was adopted and taken care of by a famous pilot William Vangeance
She is closed of and at first they did not get along greatly
However with time they learned to lean on each other
Neva was transferred to the Clover base without a partner pilot
She was amazing at the simulators but was closed of and could not drift with anyone
Now she has six months to find a co pilot or she's out
Nacht & Josele
one of the reasons Nacht stayed at the base was Josele
Josele is a coach for the jaeger training program, she takes care of new recruits such as Asta and Yuno
she used to be with Morgen and his death hit her hard
Nacht experienced through drift the memories of Morgen and Josele, so even though he had feelings for her as well he pulled back
Now he can't leave, something urges him to stay and watch her back
Lisa & Julius
Julius saves Lisa during one of the Kaiju attacks
She is grateful and joins the fight against them
She becomes one of the military advisors and watches over the missions
Her and Julius's relationship develops and they become very close
Zora & Odette
Zora is the best on the simulator. He kicks ass of all of those who are "better fit" to be jeager pilots, but there's one problem. He can't find anyone to drift with.
He meets Odette a new trainee brought by Yami
And somehow they click
Now they need to go through training until getting their jeager
Nozel & Helena (obviously I have a more developed story here as well)
Helena is a doctor from Spain who wishes to help with the Kaiju war so she gets a job at the Clover base
Little does she know, that she will fall for a mysterious and cold jeager pilot
Nozel and Helena meet during a mandatory health check up for pilots, because she fills in for his previous doctor, with who Nozel parted on bad terms
Nozel is even more angry about the doctor change and they start off at the wrong foot
Additionally their personalities and views on how the jeager program is conducted differ
However with time something, maybe curiosity, mystery and definitely desire, draws them towards one another, but they keep their relationship secret
However that's not the only secret that Nozel hides...
The only one who knows about Nozelena is Fuegoleon, because he shares a drift with Nozel
Poor Fuego has to watch them be not necessarily proper 😂. However it's not like his attention is not completely swept by a foreign Drift specialist...
Fuegoleon & Solara
Solara is a specialist, when it comes to drift. She compares the memories to the flowing river and teaches the pilots how to navigate and let it flow, so they would more efficient
She was brought to the base by Mereolona, who normally doesn't pilot, but can join in when needed (she's a beast then)
Solara feels a special connection to a certain red headed pilot, who is one of those she's supposed to help with his recent drift problems
At first Fuego and Lara are shy and some misunderstandings slow down the pace of their relationship
However as time passes it develops into something deep and real
There are some problems, because other bases, especially the one she transferred from, need Solara, but the pair fights to be together
Some OC owners have more developed stories for their own OCs. I hope I didn't mix anything here in this summary.
I to be honest have some specific ideas only for two (Nozelena and Astelle).

To teach a bull
Summary: After Claire discovers that Yami hasn't mastered Cloverian script, she decides to help by teaching him. However, Yami is quite displeased by the idea of studying.
Word count: 3.1k words
Note: Something I made for Yami's birthday. It came out a little late but it's still within the Virgo season. Never too late for our maiden Yami Sukehiro.
Yami Sukehiro x Claire Polaris (OC)
While most knights were sent on patrol missions, Claire was one of the knights that remained at the base. She settled in at the captain’s office to fulfill her duty of sorting out mission reports. Julius was present in the office as well and was occupied in reading the documents stacked on his desk.
Claire neatly sorted the important documents inside the drawers. Just as she was about to pull open another drawer, Julius sighed.
It was his third sigh for the past minute. Claire had counted.
“Are you feeling unwell today?” Claire turned to her squad captain with a look of concern.
Julius dropped the report he was reading. “No. I’m perfectly fine. Its just- I don’t know how to fix this problem.” He began massaging his temples.
Claire thought it must be serious, having Julius appear so deeply troubled.
She peeked at the report Julius was reading. It was a report that was written by none other than Yami Sukehiro. Claire didn’t see the issue with it at first glance, but as she read through its entirety the problem became clear. His written report had several errors.
Claire knew that Yami was from a foreign country, but it never crossed her mind how he learned Cloverian in the first place.
Julius then revealed it was him who taught Yami Cloverian shortly after they’d met. He covered the basics, but it seemed Yami struggled writing reports in Cloverian.
As Julius had grown occupied with his work as a squad captain (and rare magic hunting) he failed to continue Yami’s lessons.
“I’m impressed that he even learned it at all. I never knew it was you who taught him how to read and write Cloverian script.” Claire vaguely imagined how their teaching sessions worked.
“Yami can be difficult to teach because he gets bored quickly. I had to motivate him by treating him to free meals.” Julius leaned back as he reminisced of the effort he made for Yami.
“We can’t let him keep making errors in his written reports. If he never learns about it, he’ll remain ignorant of his mistakes.”
“I’ve thought of teaching him again. But I currently don’t have the time to do so. That’s why-” Julius didn’t even finish and sighed for the fourth time today.
“…Why don’t I do it? It’ll help you a lot if Yami improves.” Claire suggested in hopes she could ease her captain’s burdens.
“You’ll teach him?” he asked with excitement. His eyes sparkled like it did whenever he discovered a rare magic item.
“Of course. If you don’t mind, may I have his report?”
She figured she should at least start by assessing the extent of Yami’s knowledge. The Grey Deer library held sufficient language reference books she could use. After taking some books off the shelves, she went to find Yami.
“What do you mean I need to study again?” Came Yami Sukehiro’s words as he glared at his squad mate.
His intimidating eyes had no effect as she kept her unyielding stance. “Look at your report here.” She showed him the most recent report he submitted and pointed to the parts that had now been encircled. “There’s so many mistakes.”
“I don’t see why you need to fuss so much about it. I can just write another if it’s that bad,” Yami shrugged.
He tried to snatch his report away from her, but Claire swiftly pulled it out of his reach. “You’re missing the point. You need to study again so you don’t go making mistakes so often.”
“Why should I listen to you?” He crossed his arms and frowned.
“I was thinking how I could treat you to a nice meal if you can easily pass my test. Then, I won’t bother you anymore if you’ve proven me wrong.”
“That doesn’t sound bad. Fine, I’ll do it. Bring it on,” Yami smirked.
Claire blinked at his immediate agreement. Free food truly was a big motivator for him.
Yami sat straight on his chair. He stretched his arms before taking the quill to his side. His eyes burned with determination.
Seeing how Yami was more than ready for the test, Claire recited the first word.
“Oh, that’s easy,” Yami wrote his answer.
As Claire gave one word after another, Yami breezed through and had the words written in Cloverian letters.
Claire recited the last word.
“What?” Yami snapped his head at Claire.
Claire promptly repeated the word.
“Is that even an actual word? You’re not saying this to mess around, aren’t you?” Yami asked.
“Are you having doubts? That’s unlike you.”
“I was just making sure you’re not pulling any tricks on me,” Yami narrowed his eyes.
“Excuses, excuses.” Claire rolled her eyes.
Yami blew air out of his nose in frustration that Claire thought he was getting closer to finally becoming a bull.
“Alright. Time to check.” Claire leaned in to take the paper from him. Yami hesitated to surrender his answers as he refused to hand it over.
She was relieved the paper didn’t get torn apart after succeeding in taking it out of his hands.
After reading through the answers he wrote, her brows knitted tightly. Yami felt himself slowly sink to his seat.
“I knew it, Captain Julius did teach you the bare basics,” Claire assessed.
“There goes my free meal,” he mumbled under his breath.
She was pondering on the work she needed to do as she pinched the bridge of her nose.
There was one more thing she needed to check from him. Claire opened a book and flipped its pages to a certain passage. “Can you try reading this?”
“Do I still get free dinner?” Yami pouted his lips.
“I’ll think about it.”
Satisfied, Yami carefully articulated the words written in the book.
There were some sentences where he had to read slowly.
“Stop. I’ve heard enough.” She raised a hand at him after he finished reading a few sentences.
“How did I do?”
“…Where do you want to eat?”
Claire changed the topic and refused to give him proper feedback.
Yami didn’t feel like he passed her test at all. Still, he took his promised free dinner to a pub he liked.
Although Claire kindly joined him so she could pay the bill, she spent the whole time scribbling on a book. Yami almost lost his appetite from hearing the pen scratch on paper the entire time. The salad she ordered remained untouched even as he had nearly finished eating his steak.
Claire gave the book she was previously scribbling on to Yami, “Read the pages I’ve marked. Next time, I’ll test you again and if you get it mostly right, I’ll treat you here for a week.”
Yami swiftly swiped the book from her. “That a promise?”
“On the other hand, if you fail you must agree to undergo a week of lecture from me. It would be a deal instead of a promise. How does that sound?”
Raised voices resonated from the Grey Deer study hall. Morgen Faust happened to be passing by when he heard the voices so familiar to him that he hurriedly came over to find out what was happening.
“I don’t want to do this anymore!” As Morgen neared the hall, he identified the voice to be Yami’s.
“We had a deal! Hey, don’t walk away from me!” Came a voice that was undoubtedly Claire’s.
“That wasn’t a deal. You tricked me into doing what you wanted me to do.”
“It's not like that! I’m doing this to help you.” Claire sounded desperate.
“You wanted me to write a better report, then I’ll go ahead and write another report!”
“Uhm… guys?” Morgen timidly peered inside. The sight of one tall dark-haired man, and one short silver-haired girl confirmed his suspicions. “What is it this time?”
Morgen undeniably detected a heavy tension between Claire and Yami. He was no stranger to seeing them argue. But this felt more heated than usual.
The arguing duo stopped when they saw Morgen arrive.
Instead of explaining himself, Yami stormed off and left the two light mages behind.
“We’re not done here!” shouted Claire.
But that didn’t stop Yami from leaving.
Morgen observed the unusual flush on Claire’s face. “Care to tell me what happened?” His soft voice brought comfort to Claire.
“...Morgen.” Claire had a faint crack in her voice.
He gave her a gentle pat on her shoulder as he waited for her to calm down.
Yami settled on a hill not far from the squad base. He tried to empty his mind, but his thoughts kept going back to his fight with Claire.
“I heard you two got into a fight, again.” Julius said as he located where Yami was hiding.
Yami grumbled as Julius inadvertently reminded him of what he was just trying to forget.
“It's unlike you to walk away without resolving the issue with her. What made you so upset?” Julius sat beside Yami.
“I just don’t get why she’s trying so hard.” Yami finally spoke. “What if I make a mistake? I’m just a foreigner from Hino who can’t write Cloverian perfectly.”
Julius thoughtfully hummed, “This was all because she saw my frustration when I read your mission report. I only felt that way because I regretted not being a good enough teacher, not because of the mistakes you made.”
“I think you did a great job teaching me. It was just- wasn’t it enough that I could write my name and read signs? Claire is wasting her time on me.”
Julius gave Yami a fatherly smile, “You mean you were uncomfortable at the thought of Claire looking after you?”
“Where did you even get that idea?” Yami turned his gaze away from Julius. The captain’s expression left him bashful.
“Because Claire could easily rewrite the report herself but instead she decided to teach you so you can do it properly on your own.” Julius' smile transformed into a teasing grin as Yami grew embarrassed. “She thinks highly enough of you that she went out of her way to help you improve.”
Back inside the Grey Deer study hall, Morgen tried to understand the situation from Claire, “So Yami suddenly got mad when you said he failed your test?”
Claire nodded. She proceeded to explain the ‘deal’ she made with Yami.
Morgen read the exam Claire made for Yami. He frowned as it became apparent to him. “You were too hard on him. Even if it was something you had to do to prove his knowledge wasn’t enough. Purposely giving him difficult questions would make him feel like you tricked him to fail.”
“That wasn’t my intention.” Claire hung her head low.
Morgen worried for both Yami and Claire. They weren’t just knights from the same squad they were his precious friends. Seeing them fall into disagreement saddened him. He wished for them to make up as soon as possible.
Morgen gave Claire advice on how she should stop beating around the bush and tell Yami upfront how she wanted him to improve. She was surprised by Morgen’s optimism that it would soon go well between them. The faithful glint in his eyes left an imprint on her memory.
Moments passed since her fight with Yami. Claire shifted her focus to magic research after Morgen left the study hall. She was grateful for his help now she finally had an idea how to make amends. But she couldn’t bring herself to leave the study hall on the chance she might run into Yami so soon. She wasn’t certain it would be enough. She wasn’t prepared to face him. The frustration kept building up. Torn between patching things as soon as possible and waiting for the perfect timing, she opted to take a nap.
Yami decided to hurry back to the study hall after Julius started to relentlessly mention nonsensical ideas regarding him and Claire. There he found Claire sleeping and hunched over the table using a book as a pillow. Not to disturb her sleep, he took silent steps and carefully pulled the chair beside her.
Yami took a quill and paper and wrote the words ‘Surpass your limits’ in Cloverian. He really loved this phrase after hearing it first from Julius. Yami had gone far from where he used to be since he found himself in this country. He ended up becoming a part of the magic knights because of Julius. But whenever he remembered that he was still a foreigner, it never felt important to learn their language or culture. No matter how hard he could try, he would still be too different from everyone else.
Now he realized where it went wrong. He settled on knowing just enough to get by. When Claire tried to teach him, it reminded him of the gap that no language lesson could ever connect.
He gathered the materials Claire made for him and attempted to understand what was inscribed. All that he could do was scratch his head in confusion.
“Maybe Julius was to blame after all,” Yami groaned.
Claire shifted and slowly woke up from her nap. She could feel a presence beside her, but her vision remained a blur. It might’ve been Morgen who came to check up on her again. But the magic being given off wasn’t like his at all.
“…So, how do you read this again?”
…
…
“WHA-!?” Claire jumped from her seat when she finally registered that it was Yami who sat beside her and asked her a question.
Yami still had his finger pointing at a certain word to an open book and wore a dull expression as opposed to the last time she saw him.
“What are you doing here!?” The shock had yet to settle as her heart still beat rapidly.
“Well…you said you were going to teach me… That’s why I was asking you how to read this.”
“But I thought you didn’t want to study anymore?” Claire was confused.
“I changed my mind… After all, you were being generous enough to give me free lectures…right? You’re teaching me for free, right?”
“Uhm, yeah. But you were being difficult, so I had to find a way to convince you to study seriously.”
Yami tapped that one finger he used to point at a word, doing it in a state of pondering. He wanted to know something other than how to read.
Claire anticipated what he was about to say as Yami’s gaze left her frozen in place.
“Why are you helping me? You call me a musclehead and a dumb bull. Didn’t you see me as a lost cause to begin with?”
“Gosh. You truly are an idiot,” she huffed. Claire showed Yami his report again and laid it out on the table. “You've learned Cloverian within only what? A year? That's pretty amazing for a foreigner. Some who were even born into this country can still make mistakes with it. But for you, this is all new to you. Yet, you are at this level.”
This level, she meant Yami’s imperfect report was a commendable feat itself. Yami only realized that he was tapping one foot from under the table when he heard the heel of his boot clattering against the floor. The small curl of his lips now dangerously grew wider.
He was grinning, prideful yet innocent. His tanned skin brought emphasis to the white of his teeth.
“I think this is the first time I received such high praise from you. Maybe if you treat me nicer, I will attend your classes more often.”
“Don’t get used to it. I still think you’re an idiot.” Then Claire began to speak softly, “But I also think that you’ve struggled to take it in all at once. Learning this country’s writing system, among other things.”
Claire was unsure if Yami heard her last words clearly. Still, she gave herself a mental pat on the back for speaking as honestly as possible like Morgen told her to do.
Yami stood up and bowed at Claire, “Please teach me everything I need to know.”
“W-why are you lowering your head at me! Stop that.” Claire fumbled on her words as she quickly raised his head back up by pushing his shoulders.
Yami’s eyes held no contempt. He bowed his head at her with the full intent to be her student. Claire didn’t know if Yami knew what it meant in this country to lower your head to someone.
“I’m going to squeeze everything you need to learn into that muscle brain of yours. You better be ready.”
“But first, tell me what this word means?” He showed the same word he asked about earlier.
“You’re still not over that?” Claire giggled softly. She found herself a silly student, maybe teaching him wouldn’t be so bad.
Julius sat in his office where stacks of mission reports lay on top of his desk. A knock came from the door which he acknowledged, giving his permission for them to enter.
It was Yami, who came to submit his mission report.
Julius accepted and read it right away. “You’re writing has improved! I see your supplementary lessons paid off.”
“You have Claire to take credit for that. She’s much better at explaining things than you,” Yami deadpanned.
“I-is that so.”
“Yeah. You taught me to write different words without telling me proper writing structure.”
“Haha... I guess Claire’s just a better teacher than me.”
“Yep. Much better.” Yami proceeded to give Julius a nod and walked to leave the captain’s office.
Yami opened the door and Claire came into view. The lower half of her face was covered with the paper she was holding.
“You’re here to submit your report too?”
“Yeah, uh- Excuse me.” Claire lowered her head and squeezed through the space between Yami and the door.
She appeared to be in a hurry, so Yami gave way and opened the door wider for her.
Yami closed the door and was about to head back to his quarters.
“Thank you for the report. About Yami, I hope he didn’t give you much of a problem.”
“Not at all. He learns fast so it was no trouble.”
The exchange between Julius and Claire remained audible to Yami. His mind went to Claire’s expression earlier. She might have tried to hide her face, but he was able to tell that her ki was acting strangely then.
“She must be in a hurry because she needed to take a dump. Yeah. That must’ve been why.” Yami said to himself.
Yet something about seeing Claire then made his heart flutter uncontrollably.

Listen to Your Heart
Hi everyone! This is a oneshot for @vs-redemption ‘s Disney Event, and I decided to go with “Hercules” couple Meg and Hercules for a William x Reader/Zera fic 😁! Now I wrote this with my OC Zera in mind but I didn’t use her name so it can be read as an Xreader as well. I hope you all enjoy~!
Word Count: 1,789
Warnings: None
———
The young woman watched intently as the young white haired man named William Vangeance posed for another portrait. It was probably his fifth or sixth one this week, and the woman could tell that he was exhausted. His normally charming and dashing smile was pulled down at the edges just slightly, and the bags under his eyes were only just barely covered by his mask.
William Vangeance had superior strength, speed, and agility. But most people ignored him and dismissed him since he was only a farmer’s son. But after he defeated a Hydra single handedly and saved two young children in the process did the people of Thebes believe that he was the son of the god Julius Novachrono, and he became an overnight superstar!
But the woman watching him already knew all of this.
After he rescued her from a centaur he quickly introduced himself to her, and she could tell he wasn’t a normal human, but couldn’t quite place exactly what he was until Zagred appeared and told her.
After seeing how smitten William was with her, Zagred tasked the woman with trying to derail the young gods plans of becoming a “true hero”. At first she refused, saying she didn’t want any part of his plan, but firmly reminded that she didn’t have a choice in the matter since Zagred owned her soul.
The woman was pulled out of her memories as William nodded graciously at the painter as they wrapped up for the day, and his new assistant Langris Vaude escorted the painter out of the room. And that’s when she saw the real William Vangeance finally reveal himself.
He walked off the pillar, took his mask off, and flopped himself down onto the chaise lounge that sat in the center of the room. He threw his arm over his face and sighed loudly, all this sudden fame and fortune was beginning to weigh on him.
The blonde haired woman walked over to him quietly and sat down at his feet, she watched William move his arm slightly as the weight of the chaise lounge shifted and a tired smile appeared on his face.
“ You’re here.” He said softly as he moved his arm back over his eyes, and the woman nodded.
“ I am.” She then tilted her head. “ Why the long face hero? Things not working out with your group of fangirls?” She asked with an amused tone, and William chuckled.
“ It’s not that, although I am a little stressed out about them.” He admitted as he moved his arm and sat up. “ It’s just…I’ve defeated all these monsters for weeks and have made Thebes a safer place but…I’m still not a true hero yet, at least, according to my father.” He continued softly as he looked at the blonde haired woman, and she turned to look at him.
“ Maybe there’s more to it than just being strong and making Thebes safer. Maybe your father’s keeping something from you?” She suggested thoughtfully, and William tilted his head.
“ That does sound like something my father would do.” William admitted after a moment, and the woman laughed softly.
“ Of course it does. Do you really think Julius Novachrono, the god of all gods, would just simply hand everything to you on a silver platter because you’re his son? That’d look pretty bad on him, Wonder Boy.” The woman smirked, and she watched as William laughed while shaking his head. She had a point.
Suddenly the door burst open and the two quickly turned their heads towards it.
“ OMG THERE HE IS!” A young woman shouted loudly and pointed in William’s direction, behind her was a group composed of men and women wearing shirts with his face on them as well as other pairs of his merchandise.
William jumped up and grabbed her hand, but before his fans could come running towards them, William’s trainer jumped in front of the crowd.
“ Hey get back! This is a private area, you can’t be in here brats!” Yami Sukehiro, William’s trainer, shouted as he tried to keep the crowd back on his own. “ Go on and get outta here Goldie Guts, I can handle these kids!” He shouted over his shoulder.
William nodded and silently thanked his friend before running out of the room with the blonde haired woman in tow behind him.
———
They ran and ran until they were good and far away from the building. William and the woman stopped to catch their breath next to a large tree with white blooms, William rested his hand against its trunk and bent over a bit. It had been a while since he had to run that fast.
“ Ahem,” he turned as the woman cleared her throat. “ You can let go of my hand now.” She added as she held up their encased hands, and William felt his cheeks burn with embarrassment.
“ S-Sorry about that…” he apologized before reluctantly letting go of her hand. The blonde haired woman shook her head.
“ It’s fine, you only did it to help me escape.” She said softly, she tried to hide the hurt and dismissal in her voice, but failed.
Again, she knew he had feelings for her, and had tried to firmly keep her distance from him. But between Zagred making her spend time with him, and her own curiosity, she just…couldn’t stay away from him.
“ Actually…that’s not the only reason I grabbed your hand,” William said softly. “ I just wanted to hold your hand, is that…okay?”
The woman looked at him with eyes wide in surprise, he held her hand just because he wanted to? Not because they were running away? She felt her cheeks burn slightly and shook her head, no, this was bad. She shouldn’t be flattered and happy about this, she should be trying to put more distance between them.
“ And if I say it’s not okay? Then what?” She asked curiously, and William smirked a bit.
“ Then I would say you’re lying if that tinge of pink on your face is of any indication.” William smirked back at her, and she couldn’t help but scoff. So, the hero knew how to tease and be playful too huh?
The woman’s smirk disappeared almost as quickly as it appeared.
“ Don’t fall in love with me, because if you do, it’ll only end badly for both of us.” The woman said softly as she stared into his purple eyes, she watched confusion pass over his face before it was replaced by something else, something she hadn’t seen before.
“ And if I still decide to fall in love with you, knowing it’ll end badly for us, what would you say?” He asked curiously as he pulled down one of the tree’s upper limbs to inspect a flower, the woman just scoffed.
“ Then I would say you’re an idiot.”
“ Well then,” he began as he plucked a flower off the tree, let go of the limb, and watched as the tree snapped back into place with such force that leaves and petals fell down around them. “ I guess I’ll just be an idiot in love.”
He handed the woman the white flower and quickly kissed her on the cheek as she stared down at it. The woman looked at him in surprise and her cheeks turned a bright red, William chuckled a bit.
“ You look really cute when you blush.” He muttered softly as he looked at her, his eyes widened and he quickly placed a hand over his mouth. That…wasn’t supposed to come out of his mouth.
“ And you don’t look too bad yourself when you blush, Hero.” She said back to him, and it only made his blush deepen, he really was too adorable sometimes.
Suddenly the two heard a noise coming from the woods behind them, William reached out towards the woman and put her behind him. After the noise continued for a few more seconds a white horse with a blue mane and tail suddenly appeared.
It was Pegasus, and Yami was sitting on his back with a stern look on his face and a cigarette hanging out of his mouth.
“ Sorry to interrupt the romantic moment, but we gotta go Goldie Guts. There’s a large Siren causing trouble in the Eastern sea, the fishermen want ya to take a look at it.” Yami said as he leaned over, grabbed the back of William’s shirt collar and pulled him onto the pegasus.
“ O-Oh alright…I guess I gotta go.” William said softly as he looked at the blonde haired woman, and she couldn’t help but grin at him.
“ See ya around Wonder Boy.” She told him as Pegasus took off quickly, she waved goodbye and as soon as he was out of sight her smile slipped off her face and was replaced by a sad look.
“ Y’know, you make it really hard not to fall in love with you, Hero.” She muttered to herself as she stared down at the white flower in her hand.
All this time, she had been telling herself that she didn’t like him, that she was only doing her job to try and get her soul back from Zagred, and that once she completed her mission she could go back to how she was. But…now? Now she wasn’t so sure.
He was kind, gentle, and maybe a little naïve. But his heart was always in the right place and he tried his best to keep everyone safe and worked hard to try and achieve his dreams. It was inspiring.
She also loved the way he didn’t belittle her or treat her as a regular ‘damsel in distress’ like the other guys or treat her like nothing but an object. He treated her as a normal person, he took her thoughts and feelings into consideration whenever they were together, he did a lot more for her than her last boyfriend did and William wasn’t even dating her!
As her ex popped into her head she felt her heart sink into her stomach, was she really willing to risk having her heart broken again? Every fiber of her being told her to take the risk, to fall in love with William, they were telling her that he was different. But her mind…her mind didn’t want to listen.
Which did she listen to? Her heart, or her mind?
“ Maybe…maybe it’ll be okay to fall in love with that idiot.” She mused as she sat down on the marble bench underneath the tree and smiled softly at the flower.
At that moment she decided to listen to her heart. All this time she had been listening to her mind and clearly it wasn’t working out, so maybe it was time to give her heart a chance?

Thank you all so much for reading and I hope you all have a good day~!

𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐡 & 𝐭𝐨 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐥
summary: Aika is followed by a stranger who begs for a mission that can change the course of her destiny. Salvation only comes to those that seek it.
notes: This excerpt is kinda far along in Demons Run and it’s been sitting in my drafts for a while so I’m just posting it.
Tumblr media
Aika turned around the corner and into the dark alleyway to see if her pursuer will confront her. And almost if on cue, a haggard, white-haired man, materialized from the shadows, eyes crazed. His mouth opened to say something but he fell to all fours with a harsh gasp.
She watched curiously as the man gather himself. Is he some drunkard? That would be the most logical explanation considering he reeked of whiskey, cigarette and...devil?
“I heard you were a forbidden magic user that specialized in life and death,” he breathed.
Aika grew still. She tamped down her anger as she wracked her head for who might’ve told him that.
“What is your name?” Her voice came quietly.
He raised his head and looked at her with startling blue eyes, that shone even in the dark of the alley.
“Faust.”
Her eyebrows nearly disappeared into her hairline. He said his last name on purpose. He knew that everyone forbidden magic user in Clover Kingdom knew that name well. She was definitely listening now.
“Nacht...Faust? The last surviving son of the Faust family?” Aika knew the family well. Not personally, but she had studied them thoroughly, seeing that they are the only people in Clover Kingdom who are rumored to consort with devils and other forbidden magic practices.
His mouth curled into snarl. He didn’t need to be reminded that he was alive and his brother wasn’t.
Nacht stood and steadied himself, feeling a bit more sober and gave her a sharp nod.
“Well, Nacht, may I help you with something? Seeing as you’ve been following me all the way from Clover Castle.”
“I want your help to bring my brother back.” His dead brother? She couldn’t bring back people who were already dead and their soul had passed so long ago.
“No,” she said almost immediately.
That crazed look was back again.
“No! Please! You have to help me.” He fell to his knees again, his hands clasped together pleadingly, tears falling in twin streams down his cheeks. Aika resisted the urge to sneer. She hated people who threw all their dignity aside and prostrate themselves, especially to strangers. She was about to leave him but his next words made her pause.
“Please, I’m begging you. His soul isn’t even resting in the After. Someone like him doesn’t belong in the Underworld! You are the only necromancer who lives without any serious repercussions. Please, I’ll do anything!”
Underworld? She could definitely use this to her advantage.
Aika laid a hand on his shoulder, making him snap his eyes up to hers.
“You want to bring your brother back from the Underworld?”
Nacht nodded frantically.
“Necromancy has a lot do with life and death,” she explained as a smile grew on her face. Internally, she was shaking with excitement. If he agrees to her plan, then she is saved. No one can give her Salvation except herself. She would put him through many trials: a different country, a different name, a different life. But in the end, they would both get what they want. “But it isn’t without sacrifices. You would have to wait years, give up your life for--”
“I don’t mind...” Nacht interrupted. “If I die...”
She rolled her eyes. Now, that was way too dramatic.
“You’re not going to die if you do this right. The point is to live and enjoy your life with your brother.”
He moved quickly and clasped her forearms, his eyes wide with hopeful desperation.
“You have a plan?!”
“Yes, now please unhand me.” Nacht let go as if he was burned and took a step back. “I’ll need you to sober up, gather your essentials and meet up with me at the church in Hage Village in a week from now. Have you ever been to college?”
Nacht was listening attentively but the last question caught him off guard.
“I-No?”
“Oh.” Aika touched her chin pensively. “Then, this will be a new experience for you then...” She thought out loud to herself. “Don’t worry I’ll send you to my alma mater. I’ll make sure they treat you right.”
He cocked his head at her in confusion.
“Clover University?”
“No,” she looked up at him and smiled thinly. “Spade Nation War College.”
Nacht opened his mouth to throw a slew of questions at her but she raised a halting hand.
“I will answer all your questions in a week, but only if you are prepared to do anything to bring your brother back. Sober up, think on this, and if you show up at that church, there’s no going back, understood?”
He stared hard at the dirty alley floor between them and slowly clenched his fist. Nacht needed to know something before he made up his mind.
“How sure are you that this is going to work?”
“Ninety percent sure.”
“And if this plan fails?”
“Then ninety percent of the world dies.” He shot her an alarmed look. “But that won’t happen as long as you do what you are told.”
Aika stared him down nonchalantly as he looked at her in disbelief.
“You have a week to make up your mind,” she adjusted her leather gloves. “And if there’s nothing else, then it was a pleasure to meet you, Nacht.”
He could tell that he was dismissed. His shoulders fell and he closed his eyes for a moment before he began to fall into the floor, into his own shadows. Just before his head disappeared, his eyes flew wide open and met her’s with a fierce resolve.
Aika relaxed. She need not worry.
Nacht Faust was definitely going to come to that church.
She took a deep breath. She wasn’t done yet because he wasn’t the only person who pursued her tonight.
“You can come out now...Julius.”
A hooded man man dropped from the sky and landed noiselessly behind her, blocking the way out of the alley. The cloak fell, revealing the cold, expressionless face of the 28th Wizard King.
“Even if it is actually in good faith, I can’t let you proceed if this ‘plan’ really does have a 10 percent margin to fail and kill nearly everyone.”
Aika hadn’t lied to the stranger but she was sad that she has to lie to someone she was growing to like a lot.
“I lied to him. No one is going to die,” She assured him with a smile. “I just needed to be sure of his resolve before I trust him to come through.”
“I...won’t say I don’t trust you--”
“But that is exactly what you’re going to say.”
“No. I want Nacht to also bring any information he can on the movements of the Dark Triad.”
“That’s definitely doable.”
“Wh--Really?” That was so easy? Julius felt like it shouldn’t be.
“Absolutely. I still haven’t figured out all the logistics of the plan because I just came up with it,” Aika took his hand and brought it up to her face. “I am happy to include you in it if you want.” She kissed his knuckles.
Julius smiled down at her. He lived a life where nearly everyone disagreed with him on a daily basis. It was their job but he couldn’t help but be used to that. But Aika was someone who understood him on nearly everything. Even if she disagreed, she saw his viewpoint. Someone who stood next to him, someone who understood him. Yes, that was her.
He felt his heart race.
“Thank you.”

Family Fluff
You are not limited to just those characters and ships, those are just the ones I thought of. I’ll add more as I get more requests. Also, it’d be useful if you had something specific in mind for me to write about. If you just write a character’s name or a ship, I’ll still do it, but specifics would definitely be useful. However, I won’t get mad at you if you don’t leave specifics, so there’s no need to think I’ll be annoyed or anything.
That’s about all I have for now. Have a good day

~chapter one
next chapter>>
pairing: julius novachrono x male!oc
warnings: none
word count: 1390 words
summary: As the Grey Deer's Vice-Captain, Hector had a responsibility to help all of his squadmates in every aspect, be it homework or battling with insecurities.
"Oh? What are you doing here, brat?"
Yami sputtered and hastily tried to cover up the paper on the table. "N-None of your business, old man!"
It was rare to see Yami red in the face, which made Hector all the more curious. With a wider grin he approached the teen, attempting to crane his head over the muscular arm that covered the surface of the paper.
At this, Yami looked like he was very close to storming out of the library, so Hector tried a different approach.
"Aw, come on. As your Vice Captain, I'm obligated to help my adorable squadmates. Especially rookies like you."
Yami scowled. "I'm not a rookie."
However, his expression softened to become less defensive and he heaved a deep sigh. He pulled his arm back and Hector leaned over him slightly to see what it was.
It clicked as soon as he read the first few lines. "Is this the homework Julius-kun gave you?"
The Dark Magic user nodded and crossed his arms with a frustrated look on his face. "Sir Julius taught me this word before but I've forgotten what it was. And now I'm too embarrassed to ask him."
His voice fell to a mutter at that last part as he looked the other way stubbornly.
Hector let out a hum and drew up a chair next to the teenager. "Well, for starters, your essay isn't that bad, but there are improvements to be made."
"What the hell? I only asked if you knew the word I was looking for."
Hector raised an eyebrow, "Do you want my help or not, Sukehiro?"
"...fine. Whatever. But I'm not paying you."
It was adorable to see how Yami hated disappointing Julius in any way. That sentiment was probably shared by the rest of the Grey Deer, including Hector himself.
Thirty minutes had passed before Yami finally nodded in understanding, scratching his cheek while refusing to meet Hector's gaze.
"Thanks." He mumbled.
Hector chuckled and briefly ruffled Yami's hair, earning a murderous glare from him. "No problem. Let's keep this between us, I assume?"
"You bet. But one question: are you and Sir Julius dating?"
The question caught him so off-guard that his smile was dropped. Hector's heart raced, and it would be a long moment of speechless silence before he gave a response.
"What?"
While Yami would appear as thick-headed to anyone who didn't know him well, his sharp observation skills were terrifying. Realisation dawned on his face and he leaned away from Hector with a disgusted expression bordering on comical.
"So you're not?! That's disappointing, old man."
Hector pointed a finger at him threateningly, ignoring the way his heart was beating miles per minute.
"Hey, hey, don't make me send you to the Forsaken Realm. Julius-kun wouldn't like it-"
Yami pointed a finger back at him and exclaimed, "That's exactly my point!"
"What point?!"
"You are so obviously in love with Sir Julius, it's ridiculous. You keep mentioning his name and you don't smile at us the way you do to him-!"
At that point, Hector resolved to throw the teen out the window when a familiar voice froze them in their places.
"Hector! Yami!"
Upon seeing Julius approach them, Hector's heart did a happy little backflip. He grinned brightly at the blonde while tightening his grip on Yami's head to shut him up.
"Julius-kun! I thought you were in a meeting with the Wizard King."
"I was, but..." Julius trailed off, worry and sadness crossing his expression for a split second. He shook his head slightly and managed a smile, "What are you both doing?"
Upon seeing his expression, the bubbly feeling in Hector's chest dissipated into worry as well. Julius had informed him of the Wizard King's medical condition before. He guessed that the condition had took a turn for the worse.
"Nothing," Yami replied nonchalantly before the silence could stretch too long. "I was just telling him to go away."
Hector glared. "'Him' is standing right here."
"Still? Why?"
Before he could send Yami flying, Julius put a hand on his shoulder to calm him down. He chided, "Come on, you two. There's no need to fight so much. Yami, we leave you to it."
They stepped out of the library and Hector pushed a hand through his hair in frustration. "Julius-kun, that kid's a piece of work."
Julius chuckled, a sound that cooled Hector down a little. "I know, but he has a good heart and cares a lot for others."
It was the truth and Hector knew it. He relented with a sigh and said no more as they walked through the Grey Deer Headquarters in companionable silence. The setting sun cast a brilliant, orange glow on the white walls and pillars, giving a sense of calm that washed over the both of them.
Once they reached Julius' office, Hector plopped himself onto the couch, spreading his arms on the backrest with an exhausted sigh. Julius draped his cape on the wooden stand first before joining his vice captain.
"So...how was he?"
Julius leaned back on Hector's arm, his violet gaze drawn to the ceiling. In a whisper, "He told me he only has a few years left to live."
His worry made Hector's heart ache. This man had enough space in his heart for all the citizens of Clover Kingdom. It was an aspect of Julius that Hector loved, one which Hector could never implement in himself no matter how much he tried.
His fingers brushed Julius' nape before curling gently inwards. In response, the blonde leaned into his touch and let out a small sigh. It was an intimate gesture exclusive only to the both of them - a sign of the ultimate trust they had in one another.
"And this worries you?" Hector asked softly while massaging the soft skin beneath his fingers.
Julius turned to face him, his beautiful violet eyes stealing his breath for a quick moment. "A little," He admitted. "People look to me to become the next Wizard King. That pressure...it's - it's a little frightening. What if I can't protect them?"
Hector so badly wanted to gather him in his arms and chase those insecurities away with a kiss. But it wasn't that simple. He vowed to do so someday when they were more...understanding of the relationship they shared.
"If you're fearful, that's good," Hector said reassuringly, pressing his thumb slightly into the side of Julius' neck. "It shows how serious you are about protecting Clover Kingdom. And once you're serious about something, you'll accomplish your goal. Don't argue - I've witnessed it first-hand."
He watched as Julius turned a bright shade of red at his words. In retaliation the blonde flicked at his ear, earning an exaggerated 'ow!'.
"You're always saying such things even when I told you to stop!" Julius exclaimed in a flustered tone. Then, he relaxed and gave Hector a warm, sincere smile. "But...thank you."
Even in the orange light of the setting sun streaming in through the window, it couldn't compare to the smile Julius was giving him now. It fanned the ever-burning flame in his gut and he crossed the distance between them in a blink of an eye, resting his hand on the armrest beside Julius.
Black eyes like pools of night met wide, violet ones. Their breaths mingled in the air and Julius grew an even brighter red.
"When you become Wizard King," Hector uttered, his words becoming a personal vow. "I'll stay by your side."
Julius breathed, "Forever?"
"If that's what you wish." And he meant it.
There was a sharp inhale at his words and Julius dropped his gaze, studying his hands that laid still in his lap. His lashes were fluttering, a telltale sign that he was nervous about the next words he was going to say. Hector waited with baited breath, his gaze fixated solely on the other.
"Hector, I...I have - I have something to tell you-"
"Captain Julius!" The sudden call made them both spring apart, the previous tension between them shattered. Judging by the frantic knocking, it was probably an urgent matter that could not be waved away.
Julius got to his feet while Hector remained where he was, silently cursing the situation.
"Come in!"
