ok so not really a request but hc: pre-sw, hope lupin had an instagram account, she mostly just posted recipies/ craft projects, super wholesome. She had a small following, but mostly just friends and aquaintences. Then at some point remus/sirius/ the lions tag her in a post and OVERNIGHT there are hoards of hockey fans hyping up her little digital diary. And she's just minorly internet famous for years just and chooses not to bring it up.

I hope you're not bothered that I made a full fic out of this, but it was too good to resist. Characters belong to @lumosinlove!

Hope Lupin had a hobby. A hobby she was quite proud of—it was an internet masterpiece that had been literal years in the making, giving her the perfect amount of payoff for very little work. Bake a pie? Take a picture. Make a birthday cake? Take a picture. Whip up a batch of cookies? Take a picture. Then, whenever she had some free time, post that picture on her Instagram with a screenshot (Remus had spent an afternoon helping her figure that out) and set her phone aside. The account was almost as old as Jules. A whole 64 people followed her, and some of them weren’t even family.

Honestly, Hope considered her Instagram account a living, growing recipe book rather than any sort of social media. She had Facebook for that. As such, it’s easy to imagine her surprise when she opened her phone to 6,500 likes on her cookies from the night before.

“Lyall,” she called from the kitchen, squinting down at the screen. “I think my phone was hacked.”

But when she went to scroll through the sudden influx of followers—nearly 5,000 new ones, just overnight—the usernames seemed real. The accounts checked out. Faces of complete strangers stared back at her, smiling from wherever in the world they lived.

“You were hacked?” Lyall was still scrubbing grease off his hands when he came in. “Your phone?”

“I…don’t know.”

His brow creased in bafflement and concern, and Hope tilted the phone up to show him. The frown slowly dissipated; his eyes widened when he looked to her follower count. “Holy shit, Howie.”

She bit her lower lip and refreshed the page. 24 new people in a minute and a half. “I don’t know what I did.”

Lyall shook his head, then leaned back to the hallway. “Julian!” he shouted.

A dull thunk followed. “What?”

 “C’mere, your mother went viral!”

“What?” The door to Jules’ room flew open and he came barreling into the kitchen, standing on his toes to see the phone where he hung off Lyall’s arm. “How? On what?”

She bent slightly to show him her phone. “On Instagram. Look at all these people. It was just a cookie recipe, I swear.”

Jules chewed the inside of his cheek. She could practically see the gears turning in his head. “Well,” he finally said. “Have you checked Remus’ Instagram?”

“Why would that—oh my god, I forgot he’s famous now.” Lyall snorted as Hope dove for her phone again, scrolling rapidly through her notifications until she reached the previous day. Sure enough, there it was: [rj.lupin] mentioned you in their story!

At first, Hope wondered whether she should be a little more mindful of her posts. Maybe she could take requests? People certainly left enough of them in the comments. It felt a little silly to share a combination of internet recipes, anything she could dig out of her mother’s old cookbooks, and random ideas from a Saturday afternoon with a crowd of literal thousands. Her most-liked post was Remus’ 15th birthday; she didn’t quite know how to feel about that. It was a very sweet picture of him and baby Jules sharing a piece of cake, though.

In the end, doing nothing different worked perfectly in her favor. The rush of followers slowed after a day, leaving her at a grand total of 15,167 people (and counting), a number she couldn’t even begin to fathom. The only acknowledgement she made about the change was a simple post when she found a few minutes of free time.

Hello! seemed like a good start.

Nobody had told her going viral would be so fun. Her little recipe book suddenly had all sorts of kind words from people admiring her food, and anyone who came in with criticism was shut down before she could delete the comment. Hope had never seen so many ‘your mom’ jokes in one spot. The fame came with a bit of a thrill as well, knowing that so many people liked what she made. The Howells were a humble family, but Hope knew her worth, and she had her own private pride that threw confetti whenever her notifications lit up.

Jules found it significantly less exciting as the week progressed.

“Lane’s dad wants your lemon meringue pie recipe,” he called from the front door on the Monday after her oldest son launched her into the world of influencers. “It’s kinda cool, I’m double-famous now.”

And on Tuesday, “Do you have leftovers of Grandmom’s almond cookies?”

“Do you use a special version of blackberry cobbler, or is there, like, a normal one?” was Wednesday’s weary question.

“I just told Maria I didn’t know how you got a flaky pie crust,” he said on Thursday.

“Turtle brownies.” It sounded almost like a curse when Jules dragged himself through the door on Friday. He looked into the kitchen, where Hope was still packing up the previous night’s chocolate fest, and sighed. “So many turtle brownies.”

But in her glee, there was one person she forgot to inform of her sudden spotlight.

“You have what?” Remus spluttered as Sirius laughed hysterically in the background.

“I thought you knew!” Hope defended, holding the phone between her ear and shoulder while she scrubbed out a bundt pan. “It’s your fault, anyway.”

“How is it my—you have how many followers? Oh my god, mom! Do you have any ideas how many people have been tagging me?”

Hope huffed. “Don’t sound so surprised. And I’m serious, you mentioned me in your Instagram two weeks ago and now all these people think I’m a cool mom. They’re right, but still.”

Remus fell quiet, leaving Sirius to his snickering. “I’m…sorry?”

“Oh, no, I think it’s a lot of fun. They’re very nice people. I was going to take requests, but that seemed like cheating, you know?”

“Uh-huh.”

“I’m starting a dessert salad series,” she added, pointedly ignoring Lyall’s snort of laughter into his water at Remus’ faint noise of agreement. “Do you have your aunt Allison’s blueberry pie recipe, by the way? I can’t find it.”

Rustling filled the line for a moment and she paused. “Yes,” Sirius finally said, followed by the sound of a distant struggle. “Yes, I—stop it!—I have it. You brought it for Thanksgiving.”

“Give it back! My mom is famous, this is—I’m happy, but it’s weird!”

“Lovely, I was worried I lost it.” Hope tried not to let her amusement slip through; Remus sounded like he was struggling. “Will you send a picture?”

“Ouais, I’d be happy too.” They were both giggling now over Remus’ distress. “Have a good one, Hope.”

“You too, sweetheart. Bye, Remus! I’ll tag you in the next post!”

She hung up, turned to Lyall, and they both burst out laughing.

Honestly worst part of trying to make an omnibus for a public domain series/author is the fact that so many old books just have multiple titles over the years, and not all works tell you "hey this story also goes by X title"

Like, there's at least Arsene Lupin stories in the public domain I thought I wouldn't be able to include because they're listed on the wiki but Gutenberg didn't have those titles-- then I find them on *another* public domain ebook site under a different title and its only when I search the wiki page do I find out its the same story I was looking for!

The other worst part is just how big the Libre office document gets lmao.

Arsene Lupin is over 4,000 pages and 1 million+ words.

I think Jules Verne is gonna *have* to be split into multiple omnibuses to avoid crashing my computer, and any future devices that try to read the resultant omnibus.

remus sighed and massaged his temples. "lady kellner, if a retaliation comes upon us, we will send for troops from the potter and black family. now, may i request we meet in a fortnight?"

the kellner pair grumbled and muttered at the brush off, but sat down and nodded in agreement with the rest of the court.

with that done, remus stood, nodded, and willed himself not to sprint to his room.

the door opened and closed. y/n looked up from his book, shook his head, and resumed his spot in his readings.

remus unbuttoned his dress shirt and made his way to where his husband was manspreading. "hello, love. how goes midday?"

"are you or are you not meeting with-" y/n started, a faint teasing smile on his face.

remus groaned while walking up the three granite stairs to the area of the kings' shared rooms. "i cannot stand being in another meeting when i have your face to see. please tell me you'll have mercy on me and entertain your king," remus requested, kicking off his shoes and crawling onto the humongous bed.

y/n shut his book and let remus curl into y/n's chest. remus hummed and shut his eyes. "i may assume the kellner clan were there, yes?" y/n asked. y/n traced along the raised skin called scars on remus's face.

"they aren't a clan," remus scoffed. "they just-"

"have 12 kids, remus. yes- it's a clan. i'm telling you: they're preparing them for war," y/n continued. his voice was incredulous- remus himself had been the one to call them the kellner clan as a joke.

remus laughed at his husband's tone. "on a different not," he began again. "the full moon rises soon. . ."

y/n looked down to see remus wiggling his eyebrows suggestingly. y/n snorted a laugh and picked up his book again, tired of remus's antics.

"read to me," remus requested, curling deeper into y/n.

without looking up y/n replied, "this is a horror story. you wouldn't care much for it."

"we should go outside." remus's statement fell on deaf ears.

"remus, close your eyes and rest. i know you're tired," y/n commanded.

internally, remus sighed. "i will do so on one condition," he said smugly.

y/n turned and looked at remus. "proceed, then."

"i get three kisses."

y/n chuckled. "lord merlin, you're a child trapped in a man's body- no- you've been spending too much time with the potters and blacks," y/n said. "three kisses and you'll close your eyes and stay quiet?"

remus nodded.

y/n puckered his lips in a comical manner and placed three short kisses on remus's lips.

remus shut his eyes.

y/n opened his book and began to read once more. a minute ticked by. "remus john lupin, stop pretending to snore!"

remus laughed obnoxiously, laughing even harder when y/n gave a half hearted attempt at shoving remus off the bed.

It’s a steampunk dating sim lol. It’s set in 19th century England and my dating options are Abraham Van Helsing, Victor Frankenstein, Arsene Lupin, and a Jules Verne protagonist.

Superstitions, a reflection on love and hockey, by Leo Knut (by veryspacecowboy)

After a decade of professional hockey, and more than a decade before that of club and league hockey, Leo Knut had picked up a couple superstitions, though he was fairly certain Sirius still had more than he did.

He'd picked up a few from Kasey, from the five wonderful seasons they'd had together. A kiss into his right hand and two pats to his left shoulder, where he and Kasey had gotten tattoos for each other when Kasey had retired. Kasey's retirement had hit Leo hard, but they saw each other often, being brothers-in-law and all, and Leo's rookie (no longer technically a rookie after 5 years) had vibed very well with the team.

Ray Hughes, from Santa Cruz California, who Natalie and Alex often joked was his and Kasey's son; tall and dark honey-blond, blue-eyed and solid as they came.

Coconut hard candy as the pads go on, from Ray's stash. He'd showed up to Gryffindor in a red and yellow Hawaiian shirt and pulled Leo into a big hug right off the bat. Leo finally understood what the other guys meant when they'd teased he'd always be their rookie– Ray would always be his rookie.

Left skate on first, then the right, influence from Sirius and Remus, along with tapping the top of the door frame as he'd walk out.

They chirped him about it often, every game, and Leo supposed that was a superstition too. Remus would check in with him before he put pads on, making sure his hips and knees and ankles all felt good. He'd fist-bump Sirius as the last one in the tunnel (besides Loops, of course) and receive two good pats to his shoulder before skating out.

Every game, he'd think 'they look so happy like this, together' Sirius in his suit, as coach, and Remus in his head PT jacket, sitting side by side on the bench. Leo was glad they had each other and they were still with the Lions, even if they weren't playing anymore.

Leo had never been in the NHL without his sweethearts, even if they had been only teammates and roommates at the time. Sirius had retired, giving Finn the captaincy, and after a few seasons, they made the call to retire. They came to every game, sometimes gave commentary up in the booth, or interviewed their ex-teammates down on the ice. They were there to support Leo, and the rest of their hockey family.

But Leo knew he needed one more. He needed 10 years, and then he'd be done. He was 28 now, turning 29 in a handful of months, and he was looking forward to a life with his boys. He chuckled to himself because, much like the Lupins, much like the Potters and the Dumais and O'Darwins, they'd never really have a life without hockey. And besides, this year he had a new tradition, with a new rookie.

“—oh my god—”

“—we had some extra.” Her cheeks are pink from suppressed laughter as Jules tries to usher the child out of frame with an apologetic glance her way. “Ah, we’ve also got some pumpkin seeds roasting in the oven that we’re going to put on top once they’re done and cooled. The recipe will be up shortly.”

Behind her, Jules finally gives up and hoists the toddler over his shoulder, giving Katie a kiss on the cheek as they pass. The back of his shirt is a wreck of frosting in mere seconds. She watches them go, then bursts out laughing before ending the video.

Was already here in his youth and was very popular then. Now he is back to teach the next generation of wizards.

A true hero! Also he is kinda cate-like. This is one of my favorites, so congrats!

Iñaki Peña - Neville Longbottom

Loveable guy, but does not get the chance to prove himself until later on.

Héctor Bellerín - Luna Lovegood

They are kinda there for the magic, but they also care about other stuff. People may find them a bit strange, but in truth they have their priorities set. Very magical vibe in general.

Ronald Araujo - Ginny Weasley

This is one is ambitious in every aspect of life. Talented, but also a bit weird.

Andreas Christensen - Viktor Krum

Both come from the north. And they have a very ambivalent vibe, like probably a good guy, but the facade is kind harsh.

One of the older Weasley siblings. Not such a trouble maker as some of the others, but still part of the gang.

tears streamed down their face as they maneuvered themself through the maze of hallways- hoping, praying, that their unknown destination would be somewhere comforting

finally, though, y/n's knees locked and they found themself unable to do anything but sink to the floor in body-shaking sobs. pulling their knees up to their chest, y/n cried miserably in their own arms.

it was just after curfew and remus was taking a walk when he first heard the heart wrenching sobs of a teenager. quietly, he cast the lumos spell and eased himself to the ground alongside the sobbing student.

"what happened y/n?" remus asked soothingly.

y/n's muffled cries had greeted remus like the crucio spell when he returned to his classroom from his rounds. the teenager was huddled on the floor, crying into their arms until the tears would stop flowing.

remus feared he had done the wrong thing when he felt y/n's muscles tighten considerably when he set his hand on y/n's shoulder, but was shocked when y/n- still sobbing- wearily turned to him. their head was held low as they scrubbed away tears and snot while the other tiredly reached out for a hug.

the professor felt his heart break when he felt y/n wail into his worn sweater. he didn't ask what was wrong- y/n would tell him. there was no doubt in remus's mind that something was wrong, and seeing one of his happiest student at such a low point was soul crushing for him.

"they laughed at me," y/n spoke through cries. "they ignored me, professor. they- they all did! ignored me just like my mum and dad."

remus felt a hard lump in his throat, and suddenly he remembered when he held sirius in his arms while he weeped about his family problems. with a broken sigh, remus patted y/n's back. "what happened?"

y/n's choked cries slowed. their body slowly left the parental warmth they had oh-so craved. "i told my friends, professor. i told that i- i-" they pulled away completely and pressed themself to the cold stone wall behind them to keep from another sobbing fit.

remus softened. "i won't judge, y/n." he had little experience with calming down teens nowadays, but hoped y/n understood that they could tell him anything and not be judged.

taking in a shaky breath, y/n avoided eye contact as they looked to the wall opposite of them. "you know how... how there are... girl and boy? i'm not... i'm not a girl or a boy."

the deafening silence made y/n tear up. they knew how this went- it happened a day ago! the only (somewhat) stable parental in y/n's life would disappear, just like y/n's parents, friends, and family.

"what does that mean?" remus asked. his tone was not one of anger, but of curiosity. the man wasn't around people enough to know what practically anything meant. he knew what gay and lesbian where (he is gay >;]), but didn't know what being neither genders made a person.

"i'm non-binary. so like..." y/n explained carefully. remus listened intently.

after y/n's brief explanation, remus scratched his head. "so... my pronouns are he and him. then what are yours?"

y/n smiled bashfully. "they/them."

"do you want me to use them during class?"

"yes, please," y/n agreed.

but what y/n had said earlier was still on remus's mind. "what did you mean when you said 'they ignored you'?"

y/n sighed once more, thinking back to the mocking laughter that had been taunting them. "i don't really... have the best... home life. abandonment issues, if you will," they spat with bitter amusement. but after realizing who they were talking to, y/n's eyes widened. looking up, they started apologizing profusely. "it's past curfew, professor, i should go. sorry you had to-"

"y/n, please wait a minute," remus murmured. his already scarred heart shattered further at the way y/n tired so desperately to hide their issues. "you may always come talk to me. i've got... well... chocolate and a safe atmosphere. if any students keep bothering you, just let me know. i'll take care of it." with a knowing wink, remus slowly stood up. "goodnight, y/n."

remus looked at y/n with a fond smile before entering his classroom and turning in for the night.

Our new pup, Remus Lupin. He is our second cairn terrier after a 10 year break. He is a puppy so it is not easy, but he is sweet. We have survived a month of puppydom so he’s a keeper! He may never live up to the legend of our wheaten cairn terrier, Jules Winfield, but you never know.
