Wolverine and the X-Men remake (Part 2)

I wish I could've put this all in one post, but lemme know your thoughts, as well as if you want me to post the costumes I imagine the team wearing.

"Breakdown"--since Emma went over some of Cyclops' memories in "Operation Recruit," Cyclops is starting to get closure, possibly gaining feelings for Emma. However, as she continues to probe his mind, they realize she's been inhabited by the Phoenix around the middle of the episode. Kid Omega is around during this and sees that Emma had some involvement in the destruction of the mansion, and she renders him unconscious, kidnapping him and escaping the mansion which leaves everyone to believe they've both been kidnapped. Meanwhile, Jean's powers are slowly becoming more and more powerful, and her memories of the X-Men (particularly Cyclops) slowly returning.

"Rover"--While most of the episode plays the same, Professor X flashbacks to the Phoenix personality sealed inside of Jean's mind, as well as revealing members of the Hellfire Club. They chastise Emma for bringing Quinton with her, though they help her in keeping him unconscious. She states it's better he's under their supervision rather than aid the X-Men, hoping to alter his mind to erase his suspicions of her and restore his admiration for her. Unbeknownst to Emma, they reveal that due to Quinton's untapped potential, if things "go south," Kid Omega will be their next candidate to possess the phoenix

"Aces & Eights"--Sees Daken going to take Magneto's helmet, though with reservations given the events of "Stolen Lives." Using his pheromone control, he manipulates Polaris into helping him, though frequently flashbacks to Bobby. Other than that, it's the same--though since Gambit isn't involved, maybe call the episode "Metal vs. Metal"? I do like the idea of a B-story with Manifold, Iceman, Jubilee, Shadowcat, and Nightcrawler trying to have a normal day, albeit contemplating what the future holds and what that means for them, with Shadowcat, Nightcrawler, and Iceman lamenting relationships that may never get the chance to grow. (Shadowcat has a crush on Colossus, but being in Russia, they haven't gotten to talk much).

"Shades of Grey"--Wolverine, Cyclops, and Storm track down Jean following the psychic wave she emitted (that thankfully didn't reach them). Emma leaves to kidnap her, though is intercepted by Angel. They battle each other while Storm manages to momentarily cause Warren to pause. Emma, realizing no one suspects her of betrayal, goes with the X-Men to bring Jean back to the mansion, letting the HC know. Wolverine is suspicious of Emma, and while the two are distracted, Angel causes the car to crash and kidnaps Cyclops and Jean. Similar to the OG version, the X-Men defeat Sinister's crones and Emma captures Jean in the end, though she feels guilt after seeing how relieved Cyclops was that Emma had returned.

"Foresight (Part 1)"--plays out similarly, though Emma feigns being kidnapped along with Jean. Quinton wakes up, and despite having some of his power being unlocked by Selene and the Stepford Cuckoos, subdues them before the phoenix force within Jean renders him unconscious. Other than that, it plays out the same.

"Foresight (Part 2)"--no notes, except that Kid Omega helps to battle the HC alongside Emma and Cyclops.

"Foresight (Part 3)"--Plays out the same, though there's a battle where Quinton absorbs some of the phoenix force and battles the Stepford Cuckoos before the power overwhelms all six of them. Along with this, Daken formally leaves Kelly's employment. If I ever do a season 2, I may retcon Emma's death.

Life of Scott and Logan: Song Vibe List Part 1

Part one of a song list miniseries that includes a whole bunch of nonsense for this pairing, it is entirely the fault of the wonderful ScottxLogan, who’s fics brought back memories of a movie series I haven’t seen in almost a decade. I have no idea how many parts this will have, the song list is growing day by day but I had some finished I wanted to put down!

So have some scogan feels, some song lists, some random HC’s and a bit of dialogue for fics I am eternally to lazy to write. This started as a playlist inspired by these two and is now over 2k words, so expect more eventually.

Human- Cody Johnson

Y’all, this is a Logan song. Look me in the eye and tell me this isn’t a Logan song.

I think what I love about this song for Logan/Scogan in general is WHERE it would put Logan at mentally. This is a middle of the road song. It’s an acknowledgment of all your faults, your mental struggles, every bridge you burned and every bad decision you made because of your fears. But it’s not a damnation of those things. It’s not an “it gets better” song so much as it is an “I’m better than I used to be, but I know I might accidentally hurt you because I’m not perfect. But that happiness is worth putting in the effort for.” There is both a sense of bittersweet remorse and hard-won tinges of contentment.

There’s this notion with Scott and Logan, that while things like communication or feelings are never easy, it’s worth it because they make each other better. Not always happy, not always content, but rather they're constantly pushing each other in a way that feels like antagonism but often ends up with them being forced to finally acknowledge something important. There’s an interesting dynamic between them in which there is simultaneously a hesitation to know each other, to sometimes take each other at face value and judge, while also knowing each other more intimately than most assume. That they don’t always make each other happy in the traditional sense, but they make each other better, and that support is what slowly leads to their happiness.

HC/Vibes/Feels/General Nonsense

This is either established scogan, or at least one where Scott and Logan are closer now and slowly working to acknowledge their feelings.

Logan is in another run-down bar in another small, forgotten town in a string of run-down bars in small forgotten towns. When he leaves, he’ll walk to the ground floor of a tiny hotel with a cracked concrete parking lot, stand outside the door for a moment to smoke as he watches the stars, and quietly wonder what he’s doing here.

It’s not an uncommon thought.

In his pocket is the phone he rarely uses. He never really was the calling type. Maybe curled around it are the worn pages of a letter with handwriting neater than his own, or a kitschy postcard from a little shop a few miles back that he writes a dumb joke on.

He calls Scott. Thinks about calling more and more often.

It’s always late at night, with bits of gossip and laughter and whispered honesty they couldn’t say face to face. Used to not be able to say it all, but distance makes the heart grow fond and all that jazz.

Sometimes Logan doesn’t say anything, just listens with a soft buzzing of longing and something close to contentment.

So apparently, Marie has roped Jubilee and Kitty into the “save the trash pandas” committee. They have t-shirts.

Last night the kids wanted to go bowling but it was raining out, right? Guess they decided the next best thing was to use Jamie as a set of bowling pin. Somehow. It went about as well as you’d expect. Side note, it looks like Peter can officially hold up four Jamie’s all on his own, whether that's because Jamie lost his balance is not clear yet.

Kurt watches terrible soap operas with ‘Ro.

Logan stares up at the cracked ceiling of that tiny hotel room and let’s himself want, just a little bit, for the first time in a long time.

Hey slim?

Yeah?

Sorry I haven’t been around much.

Don’t worry about it, you're coming home soon, right?

Yeah, yeah, I just...thanks for waiting up for me. I’m not very good at this.

Dyin’ Ain’t so bad (solo and reprise)- Bonnie and Clyde the musical

Didn’t expect musicals on this list? No? You should have because Hugh Jackman and I won’t apologize.

He wasn’t in this production, but I feel like the song fits the two of them well.

'Cause dyin' ain't so bad Not if you both go together Only when one's left behind does it get sad But a short and lovin' life That ain't so bad

On one hand you have Logan, who’s lived so long that he knows the heartbreak of losing your loved ones no matter how much time you had together, and the grief of having to keep on keeping on because he doesn’t even have the option of dying. On the other you have Scott, who having already lost one love of his life before they truly had a chance at a full life together, slowly coming to terms with loving again. There is this constant set of extremes, Logan who has lost so much that he’d genuinely be happy with a short life full of love as long as he didn’t have to lose someone again, and Scott who’s suffered a loss so young that he’d be happy spending, or lengthening, any amount of time he was with Logan. Even the contrast between the song and it’s ending reprise carries this sense of extremes, one holding a grim-faced but ultimately loving choice to stay together despite an impending tragedy, the other ending with the harsh reality of death but ultimately not seeing it as a tragedy so long as they are together in the end.

HC/Vibes/Feels/General Nonsense:

This song feels like a match cut movie scene, or maybe a flashback in some ways. A moment of recall to a special memory in the face of heartbreak and tragedy.

Maybe that’s what it is, a scene from early on in their relationship, compared to a scene at the end.

Maybe Scott is injured, Maybe Logan is holding him, doing his best to shield him with his body, hoping to take the brunt of the damage. Maybe some part of Logan thinks it’s too late, but he can’t admit it.

At this point Logan isn’t sure which one is worse. His one in a million chance of dying before Scott, healing factor pushed to the limits but unable to handle the thought of leaving Scott to die alone despite contemplating it for so long.

Or the much likelier option of his body healing, knitting itself back together while Scott dies with a smile on his face. Happy despite the pain, because Logan is here, Logan stayed, Logan always came back.

Do you think it hurts?

Trust me slim, compared to everything else, dyin’ ain’t so bad.

The look in Logan’s eyes when Scott reaches out to caress his face, smiling at him despite barely being able to breath, voice raspy, tears sliding down his face from the eyes Logan knows he’ll never be able to see.

He’s never hated the thought of seeing them so much.

You were right, like this, with you, it doesn’t feel that bad at all.

Blue Moon- Dean Martin

Come on y’all, we NEEDED a fluffy, dancing together alone late at night type of song. It was practically a requirement! We need more dreamy, oldie’s song fics ok, consider this motivation. Yes, I do in fact have multiple oldies themed playlists for fic writing gushy feels, thank you for asking.

I love this because it feels like the quintessential fluffy piece, that domestic, dreamy sort of content that occurs between all the chaos of life. Simply holding one another, contemplating all the decisions that lead to happiness despite all the hardships. One waking up because the other can’t sleep, slipping behind them to wrap them up in your arms, staring out at the expanse of night sky and glistening moon beams that enter through fluttering lace curtains from a large window. There’s something to be said about the loneliness of sleepless nights. Logan has spent years haunted by his nightmares, the fear and the rage coalescing and stealing his sleep from him, only to end up in trashed hotel rooms where the only one who saw was the moon he would stare at, alone, trying to make sense of his own fractured memories. Scott hasn’t seen what the moon truly looks like in years, lost behind the constant haze of red that is his field of view, knowing it only in memories of the light it cast upon the snow as a child, or the books he read. Outside of seeking the reassurance and comfort of each other as they sleep, there is this added element of heartbreaking tenderness at the realization that being awake in the night no longer means they have to suffer alone.

HC/Vibes/Feels/General Nonsense

There’s something about this song that has a hazy, dreamlike effect on this scene. I have this stunning image in my head of Scott, arms wrapped around himself, staring quietly out a large window with moonlight dripping past the curtains, as Logan walks in, spots him, and leans quietly against the door to watch him for a few moments. Logan takes in his ruffled sleep clothes, the rare stillness of the night, the way the beams of light dance across his soft face, as he stands, relaxed and contemplative.

Couldn’t sleep?

That’s funny coming from you, old man.

But not wrong, what’s gotcha awake scooter?

Nothing just...thinking, I guess.

Can ya think less loudly, they probably heard ya on mars.

There’s the sound of quiet laughter as Logan hugs him from behind, a set of smooth dulcet notes playing from a small stereo nearby. Eventually, they end up swaying in place, letting the song roll over them as they dance.

Blue moon, you saw me standing alone Without a dream in my heart without a love of my own Blue moon, you knew just what I was there for You heard me saying a prayer for someone I really could care for

What?

Didn’t expect ya ta be the singin’ type slim, that’s all.

Your not so bad yourself.

And though Logan wouldn’t admit it, Scott can hear the timbre of his voice as he hums along to the song playing in the background.

Alright I’m ending this here because I don’t want it to get to long XD. I do have a lot more that will be finished soon, because for some reason my brain is now obsessed with this ship. I don’t know how many parts this is gonna have, but hey, we are here for the vibes.

Earth 910 HCs

- The history is different from most other multiverses.

- The US and Australia were both penal colonies and The American Revolution happened in 1800 instead of 1776.

- There was no Civil War, because slavery had been outlawed after the Revolution.

- Treaties were honored, some states don’t exist and are referred to by whatever tribal group they belong to.

- The War of 1812 and The Great Depression are the only fixed points in US history that happen the ‘right’ way according to Miguel.

- Canon is incredibly vague and broken.

- Peter Parker is Jewish and became Daredevil. Bonnie was bitten by the spider while on their class trip and became Orbweaver. They’re both friends and swap notes on heroing, much to Miguel’s chagrin.

- Norman Osborn still becomes Green Goblin and Bonnie despises him for how he treated Harry. Even now years later, while Harry has no contact, Bonnie will go out of her way to hit Norman. She gets creative with it.

- Professor X still runs his school for mutant children but the X-Men as a superhero group doesn’t exist.

- The Avengers lineup is: Captain America (Steve Rogers), Falcon, Echo, Moon Knight, Photon, Wasp, Yellowjacket, Jubilee, She-Hulk, Hulk, Dr. Druid, and Squirrel Girl.

- Storm and T’Challa are still married and are heroes for Wakanda.

- Wolverine is still Wolverine and he’s still the best at what he does.

- Harry never becomes Green Goblin and Bonnie is dating him. Hence the violent attacks on his father.

- Miguel tries to kick start Harry into becoming the Green Goblin and Bonnie threatens his life. He does not try again.

- This Earth is upsetting to Miguel and Jess, so they avoid it.

- Miguel tries telling Bonnie Miles isn’t supposed to be Spider-Man and Bonnie then decides that this child is the most spider-man to ever spider man and Miguel is the anomaly. Then she joins the society in order to actively annoy him. They can’t get her to leave, her version of Doorman keeps letting her back in.

Favorite thing about them

Hard to say tbh, but I think it's a mixture of his aesthetic with his tough guy look and cowboy/lumberjack outfits as well as his personality

I love any character with a deeper/inner animalistic nature, especially if it's a masculine character. Lots of room to explore the metaphors behind masculine energy and it's extremes clashing against a civilized society. That's kind of it tbh lol

Least favorite thing

THE FACT THAT HE CANT TAKE AN L IN THE DATING REALM AAAAAAAAAA

He dates around so much as a coping mechanism to deal with his own feelings of insufficiency, so in that sense it makes sense- but still, it's a little annoying when he's C O N S T A N T L Y pushed up against Jean, who can be just as bad sometimes considering she has cyk already. Like smh, at least let wolverine pursue a relationship he can actually ACHIEVE instead of this like "I'm so sad nooooo" plot snsksksk

Favorite line

Anytime in the cartoon when he says something along the lines of "oh yeah, well do you have THESE" and then pops his claws like he's insecure and trying to prove himself. That's always hilarious and definitely doesn't happen literally every other episode hahaha

BrOTP

Another oof, lol. I always picture him more as a loner, but if I had to assign him a best bro- it's pretty close between either colossus or nightcrawler, maybe with some favoritism towards colossus. Just two strong asf, indestructible asf dudes being bros

OTP

Well, I've moved away from my wolverine obsession now lol, so I can let him have an in-universe otp. Gosh, I want to say Storm the most. I love their dynamic of calming feminine energy soothing the masculine SO so much 😭

The only thing that keeps me from raving and screaming over this ship is that I really dislike how their relationship makes Storm out to be his PAAAAAINFULLY obvious B plan, second to Jean sksksk. If their relationship was the first stop instead of the love triangle, I would never shut up lmao

Unpopular opinion

I honestly think the only opinion I could consider as unpopular would be that I don't like shipping him with Jean or Kurt lol.

On a real note tho, uuuuuh I wish we got to see some actual character behind him instead of him being regulated to "Angry Little Dude Who Stabs Things" all the time. That has its place, sure, but a well done character arc in mainstream media would be cool too

Song I associate with him

The one I love - REM

The concept of using romantic "love" solely as a means of distraction from your problems in life is very him. In fact, this is possibly the only song I can comfortably associate with wolverine, bc anything else I can think of just doesn't fit his personal style sound wise

Favorite thing

I like him when he's faithfully and accurately portrayed as a Catholic, that's pretty great! I also like him for his introverted and empathetic personality of course. I would marry that man irl, no option for divorce in a HEARTBEAT 😩🤞🏻

I would say same as wolverine in that I like exploring the potential animalistic nature behind him, but he doesn't really have that tbh, so if I do that at all it's more like in my head and for fun. Sometimes tho.

Least favorite thing

Fjejskskks when his current writer gets disrespectful with portraying him according to his faith. I hate that shit man, like FR.

Aside from that, I REALLY don't like his early days in the comics where he was like this creepy as fuck flirt like ?!?! Idk how to describe it other than he somehow managed to make WOLVERINE look like a nice, polite guy

Favorite line

Any of his theological stuff from the animated series, bc I can't lie, that stuff was SHOCKINGLY accurate on the theology

Although, if I could just copy and paste all his dialogue from the animated series point blank period, I'd do that too lol. He has surprisingly interesting things to say about mutant existence and his own experiences and his interactions with other characters- I just wish he had more episodes 🥲

This has no basis in the comics, but I imagine him and Toad as like unlikely, but solid bros. Toad is like "hey, another guy who looks like a freak, we could bond over our misery" and Kurt would take the opportunity to try and lift mort's spirits, maybe see a bright side instead of getting so downtrodden about being physically mutated

Although, also him and rogue tbh. I like their psudeo siblings dynamic plus the difference in cultures adds some entertainment

I'm ngl, anything that makes his face nice and dynamic and pointy is pretty good. I like seeing artists not afraid to make him look non human as possible without getting too crazy, but of course you can always get me with any of the particularly goofy art too.

Come ask me again after I get my God Loves, Man Kills comic tho- that's the one that inspired X2 and I'm told it's a banger. This panel alone got me losing my shit lmao

Happy anniversary to Hestia, the oc that brought us together and was the start of a beautiful friendship ❤ For the questions, what parts of Hestia's character have you changed since creating her? What is your favorite headcanon regarding her and her dads, along with Tumble and Jojo?

always grateful to hestia and jubilee for bringing us together <3

Hestia's changed quite a bit over the past three years, and this year really feels like the time where all the pieces fell into place and she felt like a completed character!

When i first started creating her, she barely had any magic, and the only actual characteristics she had were "shy and macavity's daughter". i also, when i first created her, paired her up with Pouncival! This was because Hestia was based off of another OC i had made for a crossover fic, so it was really just taking that character and making her into a Cats OC

i mean, now, my girl has a WHOLE lot more to her!! i actually gave her specific magical abilities, which then ofc gives her a lil internal conflict about her parentage and everything!! she's also got a lovely little host of siblings that she's adopted bc her hugs are magic <3

her and Tumblebrutus' relationship has been my favorite thing to elaborate on and explore, especially since i've realized how perfectly they parallel Tuggoffelees! of course, i don't make them identical, but there are little bits of how i hc Tuggoffelees acting within how i write Tumbletta!

now for favorite hcs!!!!

Hestia has a little chest of drawers in her den where she keeps her gifts from Tumblebrutus. He loves finding sparkly or shiny things, like pretty rocks or beads, or little discarded piece of jewlery. he'll clean them up and bring them to Hestia with a beaming smile, and she'll tuck them away in her drawers. When Charon and Anthea are born, she takes out a few of her favorite little gifts and puts them onto collars for their kids, and it absolutely makes Tumble cry when he realizes what they are!

Hestia was the CLINGIEST little kitten. She was so spoiled by her dad and papa, because they absolutely indulged her and carried her around everywhere. It was partially because she was such a little kitten, partially because of the trauma surrounding her birth and how she was found, and partially because she was just so adorable. Tugger loved cuddling his little princess, wrapping her up in his arms and tucking her into his mane to keep her warm. Mistoffelees would curl up around her, especially if they were in the den, just tucking her against him and keeping her entertained by letting little sparkles float around her head.

Hestia and Jubilee absolutely have books that they read together! At least once a week, they go into the library together, and curl up on Jubilee's little window seat. Sometimes they read longer books together, other times they'll read shorter books, but it's their special time. They'll giggle over the characters together, point out which characters remind them of their toms or their fathers, and just enjoy each other's company. Sometimes they'll read separate books, but still stay curled up together, occasionally pointing out something to the other in their own book. They don't mind sitting in silence, because they care more about each other's company than any filler conversation <3

Tommy begins the railway project as a legitimate way to improve the server - and well, wouldn’t more people go to the hotel if transit were better? They'd travel more, too. Everyone would end up being more interconnected.

When Will saw it, Tommy remembered what he had told him about limbo even before he stopped talking and watched it without reaction. Will’s eyes roved slowly over the grey concrete, skipping from one point to another, not bothering to trace and confirm each detail. He had memorized it so many times that a peripheral view of each section was enough.

He looked at the rail line. At the ground. The thoughts he left in those rails.

He must have had the strangest look on his face; nothing at all, like he'd only just seen it and couldn't react yet. A total nothing.

How could Tommy know exactly how it had looked?

Silence went on for another solid minute before Tommy said lamely, “Er. Sorry.”

Nothing from Wilbur.

“I.. I could take it down, if you'd like. Or- or change it. Make it look different."

Another half-minute or so. Wilbur couldn't follow any of the thoughts that threatened to exist about this. Bits of his decades plucking him in so many directions they pulled him nowhere at all.

Eventually, he did find “no, that’s alright, Tommy” in there, looking up, and several days later he presented Tommy with a speech both more formal and with more clumsy slips than any Tommy had heard from him before, about his desire not to hold Tommy back, not to inhibit progress on the SMP. His desire to be different from what was represented in that station.

By halfway through the speech, he had the same conviction he always did and Tommy was back to thinking he was being tricked.

Wilbur stayed out of the way as it was constructed, attempting to support Tommy from the sidelines. His missives about it were all by letter or passed on by proxy.

He tells himself that he'll take it at least once. It's a symbolic barrier he needs to get around - he needs to be able to ride in something beyond his control, to practice putting aside his neurotic solipsism. If he is ever to become a different person, he must hear the unoiled squeak of those rails without the spiral network of connotation he's built around himself.

Say, though, that it whisks him away?

The periphery is too thick, holding those things back that are too filthy, too heavy with guilt.

Bringing his foot beyond the doorway is something he just never gets around to doing.

He walks, for now.

Progress steams by on the Dream SMP, and one day (a 50-odd-year-old man has to get his exercise somehow, besides), once that scenery stops commanding him as soon as it's in sight, he'll join it.

Alternatively, Tommy, with the solidity that comes with a finished and admired project, hates that he loves the power he has over Wilbur with this. He hates that he loves that the dynamic has finally, FINALLY shifted, he loves that Wilbur just folds sometimes and goes quiet, that tongue so adept at whatever fucked-up processes were happening down there finally, after what took thirteen years, have found a way to be silenced
