The Rejected Dead Girl! One-Shot
Tumblr media
The Rejected: Dead Girl! #1 Source Point Press 2019 Written by David C. Hayes & Josh Sobek Illustrated by Corey Anderson Lettered by Justin Birch     Mr. Teeth and The Rejected return in this new one-shot from Source Point Press! While engaged in their usual wicked deeds, The Rejected are confronted by Miranda, a young disabled girl. Unlike the rest of the world, she can see The Rejected and she wants to stop them from hurting the children in her neighbourhood. Mr. Teeth finds out that Miranda is special. She is The Dead Girl and he may have met his match.     I do love what I find at Source Point Press. The books I seem to take an interest in while varied in nature are extremely interesting and well put together. This is no exception and I found myself getting drawn further and further in without even realising it was happening. I started this with a bit of trepidation but it wasn't long before the intrigue factor of what we were seeing hit me. That moment when Miranda sees into Timmy's room and we see what she does that was the moment for me.     Sometimes I think there's a little too much reality in comics these days if I am to be honest and just meeting the characters in this story shows why. There are times when I think comics should only be for the escape element but then again once you read this and you see the characterisation and behaviour of these folks it's easy to understand why the story is the way it is. It has strong messages and it's pretty powerfully written which is always appreciated, specially when it's done this well.     The story & plot development that we see here and how the release of information and the flow of character introductions is extremely nice to see. The character development is amazing in how we get to see and know these people even with only the tiniest of interactions. Also I really do like the way that we see the whole narration and the setup for this as it really creates the right mood, tone and feel for what the story is all about. With the pacing added to the mix we see some interesting twists, turns and revelations which create a really enjoyable ebb & flow.     Not to knock Corey but at first I thought okay this is some really indie looking artwork. Body proportions seem a little wonky to me. The more I read the more I saw the work and the more it grew on me. I thought Mr. Teeth and The Rejected were brought to life extremely well and then there were little things like the wallpaper that caught my eye. That wallpaper by the way is really outstanding work it does look extremely well placed and lined up, the benefits of using a computer. It's these things that let me forgive the fact that Miranda at times looks like a little person, see dwarf. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show a solid eye for storytelling. As an added bonus we see al these kind of eater eggs throughout and it's fantastic.      Source Point Press continues to impress me, I always find something new that I wouldn't have known I would like I am in the middle of reading it. Another intriguing and solid offering that will take you by surprise and leave you wanting more.

Joshua Graham.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mostly of the art was done by @hrodvitnon, one request from @dyradoodles and one was done by me.
Joshua "Josh" Gojira Mosura Graham is the son of Dr. Vivienne Graham and the king and queen of the monsters Godzilla and Mothra.
I talked about him here
A 16-year-old human-titan hybrid adolescent boy who has knowledge of the more than 38 monsters called Titans around the world. He was raised predominantly by humans standing his mother, Dr. Vivienne Graham, and Dr. Ishiro Serizawa considered to be the boy's grandfather. However, his father, the king of the monsters, Godzilla, has been an active presence in Josh's life and, as best he could, has been with him always.
As the King of the Monsters' son, Josh inherited all his abilities and powers (and developed others like the head at the end at the end of the tail), but being also the son of Mothra, Queen of the Monsters, Josh inherited a pair of wings that resemble the wings of his uncle Battra, whom he never knew.
And when Josh transforms into Titan, his physical appearance changes and he reaches a height almost as high as the height of the Hulk in Endgame.
I also want to take the opportunity to talk about his girlfriend, Fontaine Nekton (yep! Fontaine Nekton from the animated series called The Deep, just that she has a different background story) she gained powers her paternal grandparents gave her, who had the powers to become the Titans Sobek and Dakuwaqa, that's why she can transform into a shark-crocodile hybrid. She and Josh have shared a beautiful friendship since they were five years old, but over time that friendship grew into something more powerful. Love.
She comes from a family of underwater explorers who firmly believe in the legend of the lost city of Lemuria, but the rest of the Nekton family discover that Josh's father sank the city to avoid a great curse that would end the world, and although the girl's parents and cousin understood it, her younger brother who is the chosen one and the called guardians didn't take it well.
There are more details about this Monsterverse that I want to talk about but it will be later. Thanks to the great artists who made these great drawings for me.
See you soon!

PHASE OF THE MOON: WAXING CRESCENT
LUNAR-PICK - CLASSIC RUN REVIEW (Waning Crescent)
MOON KNIGHT VOL.1, ISSUE #11
'TO CATCH A KILLER'
Released September 1981
Writer - Doug Moench
Penciler - Bill Sienkiewicz
Inker - Bill Sienkiewicz
Colourist - Christie Scheele
Letterer - Janice Chiang, Rick Parker
Editor - Denny O'Neil
BARE BONES (COURTESY OF WIKI):
Following an increase in cocaine traffic, Moon Knight breaks up a drug deal beneath a Manhattan bridge. He tells the two men he's only interested in "the big boy." One of them, named Creed, attacks Moon Knight with surprising strength and then flees. Moon Knight knocks the other into the river and calls Frenchie to pick him up, dismissing the two crooks as "strictly small fry."
Back at Grant's mansion, Moon Knight changes to Steven Grant. A woman arrives, looking for Marc Spector. Grant (who is also Spector) learns her name is Isabelle Kristel and summons Frenchie—she is Frenchie's true love. She leaves a package with him for safekeeping. In ten days she will return for it and for him.
After she leaves, Frenchie tells Marlene what happened. Long ago he and Kristel had an affair in France, but the strength of their passion frightened Kristel. She left him to find herself and to forget. Frenchie also tried to forget by becoming a mercenary. They met once more, in Africa, where she was working for "an agency of the French government" and aiding a rebellion.
Six days later they learn that Kristel has been murdered. Frenchie opens the package, which contains $250,000 in cash. The box is from Ritter's in New Orleans.
Jake Lockley (who is also Grant) investigates. According to Crawley, "Cajun" Creed killed her for failing to deliver a shipment of cocaine. Lockley deduces that she traced the cocaine pipeline from France to New Orleans, went undercover in Creed's outfit, and delivered a shipment to New York. She took the payoff to Frenchie, intending to wrap up the case, quit her job, and keep the money as a nest egg. Frenchie swears revenge. Mardi Gras, in two weeks, will make excellent cover.
Once in New Orleans, they disguise themselves: Frenchie as a pirate, and Moon Knight as Moon Knight. Eventually Frenchie finds Creed in a bar in the French Quarter—on a bet he is holding a bench over his head, with four women sitting on the bench. Frenchie steps up behind him and says, "Creed—Isabelle sends her love." Creed drops the bench.
Out on the street, Moon Knight sees Frenchie and Creed burst out of the bar. He throws a crescent dart to disarm Creed. Creed throws Moon Knight into a crowd and flees. A clown keeps Moon Knight from pursuing, but after some persuasion says that Creed's lair is a warehouse at Ursulines and Rampart. Frenchie has overhead the info, because he is gone when Moon Knight turns around.
Moon Knight finds the warehouse and, inside, crates full of cocaine. Frenchie confronts Creed but is surprised by a confederate, who shoots him. Moon Knight drops the confederate with his truncheon and goes after Creed. Now prepared for Creed's strength, Moon Knight dodges a few blows, but Creed catches him in a bear hug from behind and squeezes. Unable to break the hold, Moon Knight uses a double-barrelled over-the-shoulder punch.
The fight goes out of Creed. He confesses that things happened exactly as Lockley figured. He caught Kristel on her way to the French Embassy and tortured her for five days. All she would say was that was planning to retire with Frenchie. Moon Knight is about to punch him when Frenchie puts a hand on his arm and says, "No, Marc—let me!" SWAKT!
Two days later, in a cemetery outside Paris, Frenchie puts a rose on Kristel's grave. "I am ready now," he tells Spector. "I have made ... the break."
