The conversation takes place after S, A and J explain everything to Ned.Ned speaks to Jon privately and says this (paraphrasing abit):

Ayyyy when I read that paragraph I was so hurt but also bruhhhhh it was so smart.

Though HOTD will be an excellent TV show, I feel it is yet another account of how House Targaryen was unable to come together as an unified force.

A Targaryen alone in the world is a terrible thing, as Master Aemon once said, makes me wonder when this saying came to be.

Following Dany's breakdown in GOT S8 Ep5 as a result of losing two dragons, her closest friends and allies, as well as being rejected by the North and Jon, this comment struck a particularly raw nerve.

I don't think the Jon Snow sequel can truly explore the concept of "a Targaryen alone in the world" because Jon doesn't feel like one. He wanted to get away from that part of himself. I can't say I blame him.

The Tale of the Targaryens is tragic.
