Thanks to this post from @infinityactual I went down a similar Google rabbit hole to my Chyler/Anna Popplewell post a few weeks back. Enjoy this little tour of my not-smutty marriage AU for which I still don’t have a name, courtesy of Lasky model Jonathan Aube:
I’m going to say this is about what he looked like when he and Chyler met again.
Tumblr media
(The rest under a cut so I don’t spam the vast, vast majority of the fandom who care nothing about this deranged rarepair AU.)
Maybe this is a spat that led to the near-divorce? Or after when they’re trying to patch things up?
Tumblr media
Allllllmost not-regulation haircut. Chyler hated it.
Tumblr media
Here, Tom is trying to charm Chyler out of her rant about his latest stunt. It’s not working. It never works. He should know better by now.
Tumblr media
He tries to deflect with compliments.
“Honey, you are GORGEOUS.”
“Don’t start that!”
“You’re the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.”
“I’m mad at you, don’t ruin it!”
This, too, never works. Bless him, he keeps trying.
She really IS the most beautiful thing he’s ever seen, though!
Tumblr media
Was Lasky a wild child in his younger days?????
(This is a still from the movie Just Can’t Get Enough)
Tumblr media
No really I think we need to talk about this, Captain.
There are some SERIOUS crackfic possibilities here.
Tumblr media
I don’t know how a guy from Mars 500 years in the future became a Patriots fan, but who am I to argue.
Further Googling reveals Aube is from New Hampshire. Represent!
Tumblr media
Tom just looking at his wife who he loves so much while an unnamed buddy gives him crap about it.
Tumblr media
A little wistful “what might have been.” The boy is Cadmon and the girl is named for Chyler’s mother.
Tumblr media
This WAS an informative rabbit hole for expressions and mannerisms, since Lasky is Mr. One Mood All The Time in game. It was also hilarious. There were more pics I wanted to use but I hit the 10 image limit.

Note
Very out of nowhere, but I’ve tried and tried to look it up and can’t find it. Do you the name of the guy who Lasky was based on? His face was based on an underwear model or something?
This guy, his name is Jonathan Aube!
Tumblr media
And I will never not find it incredibly funny that one of the most average and unassuming basic bowls of Quaker oats is based on a fucking supermodel.

Goalie Matt Murray and Maple Leafs are almost ready for opening night after downing the Habs
If Monday was a dress rehearsal for the season opener, the Maple Leafs are looking sharp, while the Montreal Canadiens still need help in the wardrobe.
A Toronto lineup nearing completion, behind Matt Murray’s 28 saves in a 5-1 preseason win, gave the hometown Habs a taste of what could happen in nine days when the NHL schedule for both sides begins at the Bell Centre.
Maple Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe had expected his best players to dominate on Monday night. It was the bubble boys he was scrutinizing. Nick Robertson all but removed himself as one of those question marks with a three-assist night. His speed drew the first penalty that William Nylander and the league’s No. 1 power play last year quickly buried. Robertson was setting up on the left side with Alex Kerfoot and Nylander, with Kerfoot subbing in for injured center John Tavares.
Keefe was also high on Murray’s first full game as a Leaf. Solid positionally, Murray stared down a few slot chances and a 5-on-3. Some of those opportunities were the result of the new Leafs' being too creative, and Keefe seemed less enthusiastic about the play of some bottom-six players and defensemen.
Still, there were no major concerns from Monday that would affect the main body of players that will head to Gravenhurst, Ont., on Tuesday for a three-day team bonding exercise, a golf outing, and two practices before the final home-and-home exhibition series this weekend versus Detroit.
Robertson keeps piling up the points (seven in four games) after it seemed early in camp he’d be lost in the crowd of veteran newcomers.
Winger Zach Aston-Reese enhanced his profile with a goal, but also put the Leafs down two men when he boarded Canadiens’ first overall draft pick Juraj Slafkovsky, who turned at the last second. Aston-Reese’s PTO contract is reaching its critical stage.
It’s no secret that Montreal’s to-do list is a long one after a 32nd-place finish last season and a winless preseason so far, but the Leafs spared few horses Monday. When the Canadiens did break through, Murray was there, having now stopped 45 of 46 shots in his two outings.
Jonathan Drouin finally cashed in on a 5-on-4 later in the game, though as Keefe noted, Murray made the initial save on that, too. For what it’s worth, the Leafs guaranteed themselves a winning record in the preseason (4-1 so far), though surviving the Eastern Conference in real games against playoff contenders is going to be a harder seven-month grind.
Other Leafs looking to impress in Monday’s tune-up were Aston-Reese’s linemates Pontus Holmberg and Nicolas Aube-Kubel. The latter had a second-period brain cramp trying to stickhandle through traffic, a situation that Murray alleviated.
Adam Gaudette, slowed by a shoulder injury last week, was on the left side of centre Denis Malgin and Alex Steeves. The defenceman, Victor Mete, did well as he heard the footsteps of the returning Rasmus Sandin and the soon-to-be recovered Jake Muzzin.
On the Habs’ side, Slafkovsky needed to show something after a couple of ordinary exhibition games in which the first overall pick didn’t score or threaten much. He has not provided a good tailwind to his first week as an NHLer, but he was all around Murray and got the assist on the Drouin goal.
Montreal coach Martin St. Louis gave the 18-year-old some lively linemates such as Kirby Dach as well as some power-play minutes.

15 nominations pour LA DÉESSE DES MOUCHES À FEU au Gala Québec Cinéma 2021
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Alignement semblable dans la catégorie Meilleure réalisation, avec Anaïs Barbeau-Lavalette (La déesse des mouches à feu), Sophie Dupuis (Souterrain), Philippe Falardeau (My Salinger Year) et Benoit Pilon (Le club Vinland), mais l’industrie a préféré Daniel Roby (Target Number One) à Pascal Plante (Nadia Butterly).
Dans la catégorie Meilleur scénario, encore là, les gros joueurs sont tous là: Normand Bergeron, Benoit Pilon, Marc Robitaille – Le club Vinland, Sophie Dupuis – Souterrain, Philippe Falardeau – My Salinger Year, Catherine Léger – La déesse des mouches à feu, Daniel Roby – Target Number One.
Tumblr media
Du côté des actrices, on retrouve Émilie Bierre pour Les nôtres, Marie-Evelyne Lessard pour Jusqu’au déclin, l’actrice américaine Margaret Qualley pour My Salinger Year, Karelle Tremblay pour la coproduction Death of a Ladies’ Man, ainsi que Sarah Sutherland pour Like a House on Fire.
Les acteurs en lice pour l’Iris sont Réal Bossé pour Jusqu’au déclin, Paul Doucet pour Les nôtres, Patrick Hivon pour Mont Foster, Antoine Olivier Pilon pour Target Number One, et Sébastien Ricard pour Le club Vinland.
Tumblr media

A Spark in Search of a Powderkeg
Rebellion is its own justification, completely independent of the chance it has to modify the state of affairs that gives rise to it. It’s a spark in the wind, but a spark in search of a powder keg.
André Breton
If only one thing has brought me joy in the last few weeks, it began when the matriarchs at Unist’ot’en burned the Canadian flag and declared reconciliation is dead. Like wildfire, it swept through the hearts of youth across the territories. Reconciliation was a distraction, a way for them to dangle a carrot in front of us and trick us into behaving. Do we not have a right to the land stolen from our ancestors? It’s time to shut everything the fuck down!
Tawinikay (aka Southern Wind Woman)
The toxic cargo carried in Canadian pipelines, whether it be tar sands oil or fracked liquid natural gas (LNG), is, according to all serious climate scientists, a major, perhaps even decisive contribution to global warming, i.e. ecological catastrophe.   Meant to fuel industrial expansion, the pipelines have themselves become fuel for revolt. Designed to move these dirty fossil fuels from one location to another, they are a crucial element in normalizing the dubious paradise of unlimited growth in awe of which all obedient consumer/citizens are supposed to genuflect. In what the colonial mapmakers have called British Columbia (BC), resource extraction has always been the name of the game. However, the emergence in February of this year of a widespread oppositional network ranging from “land back” Indigenous warriors to elder traditionalists and from Extinction Rebellion activists to anarchist insurrectionaries was heartening. Railways, highways and ferries were blockaded, provincial legislatures, government administrative offices, banks and corporate headquarters were occupied. The catalyst for this rebellion was a widespread Indigenous uprising that refused the illusory promises of reconciliation. Together, these rebel forces disrupted business as usual in solidarity with the Unist’ot’en Big Frog clan of the Wet’suwet’en tribal house.
As objective chance would have it, the primary Indigenous land defense camp is situated not far from the same Hazelton, B.C. area to which surrealist Kurt Seligmann and his wife Arlette had journeyed in 1938. During that time, they visited Gitxsan and Wet’suwet’en villages, marveled at the imaginative power of the totem poles and ceremonial objects, made field notes, shot 16mm film, collected stories and recorded mythic histories. Now, in 2020, growing numbers of these same Indigenous peoples have been threatening to bring the Canadian economy to a grinding halt. Unwilling to be bought off by corporate petrodollars or mollified by a legal system that has never done anything but pacify, brutalize, or betray them in the process of stealing their land, Indigenous peoples passionately fought back against the forces of colonial law and order in a radical whirlwind of willful disobedience and social disruption. One action built upon another in creating a rolling momentum that seemed unstoppable. When one railroad blockade would be busted by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), another would spring up in its place elsewhere extending the frontlines of the battle all across the continent. Then the debilitating Covid-19 virus arrived to compound the damage that had previously been done to the capitalist economy by the incendiary virus of revolt. The resistance of these Indigenous communities against the pipelines concerns all of us, worldwide, since they are on the front lines of the struggle to prevent cataclysmic climate change.
In the future, a key question will be whether Canadian authorities can successfully put the genie of Indigenous rebellion back in the colonial bottle of “reconciliation”. As surrealists, we hope they will not, and we stand in solidarity with the unreconciled insurgent spirit of defiant Indigenous resistance. A new reality is to be invented and lived instead of the one that today as yesterday imposes its environmental miserabilism and its colonialist and racist hierarchies.  As surrealists, we honor our historical affinity with the Kwakwaka’wakw Peace Dance headdress that for so long had occupied a place of reverence in André Breton’s study during his lifetime before being ceremoniously returned in 2003 to Alert Bay on Cormorant Island by his daughter, Aube Elléouet, in keeping with her father’s wishes. With this former correspondence in mind, we presently assert that our ongoing desire to manifest the emancipation of the human community as distinctively undertaken in the surrealist domain of intervention is in perfect harmony with the fight of the Indigenous communities of the Americas against globalized Western Civilisation and its ecocidal folly.

Postscript: During the process of gathering signatures for the above declaration, we were inspired to see its uncompromising stance against white supremacy and police repression reflected in the brightly sparkling flames of the Minneapolis uprising that lit a powder keg of pent-up rage and incited an earth-shaking eruption of spontaneous rebellion in the streets of America. It was only fitting that in solidarity with the uprising about police brutality kicked off by George Floyd’s execution/lynching at the hands of the police, anti-racism protestors in the United States would take direct action by beheading or bringing down statues of Christopher Columbus, genocidal symbol of the colonial expropriation of Native American lands. (Guy Girard, Michael Löwy, Penelope Rosemont, and Ron Sakolsky, June 18, 2020).

I still find it immensely funny that Lasky's face was based on a dude who was an 80s underwear supermodel like
he is the most average white bread sonuvubitch out there and then you google Jonathan Aube and it's like getting slapped bc it's Lasky, but to the left.

Oh well, there's only 89. NHL players, let’s see what we got when we add all of my awkward Finnish hockey crushes
90. Mikael Granlund (I literally had his poster on my wall when I was 11. Finland won gold and literally every girl in Finland had #64 on their cheeks the next day)
91. Sebastian Aho (I know his girlfriend a bit too well to simp over him but I also have few pictures with him from the time I was 16 and didn’t know her)
92. I have now cancelled both Kasperi Kapanen and Jesse Puljujärvi but I’ve been a big simp so it makes this 93.
4 players from my favorite Liiga team Ilves
94. Lukas Dostal
95. Eemeli Suomi
96. Ville Meskanen
97. Arttu Ruotsalainen
And then I can literally add 10 guys who play in smaller leagues that I simp for, but they shall not be named here.
So yes, I could name 107 hockey guys I love 😆 didn’t expect it tbh

Full Birth Name: Aubrey Braun Duncan
Also Known As: Aubs, Bree
Age: 35
Date of Birth: 7th December 1986
Place of Birth: Helen, Georgia
Zodiac Sign: Sagittarius
Occupation: Investment Banker
Pronouns: He/They
Sexuality: Pansexual
Social Media Handle: @aubrey_hepburn
Face Claim: Andrew Garfield
Biography:
From the day he was born, Aubrey Duncan has always been a confusing one. Expected to be a girl, with the pink nursery decorated to boot, a baby boy being born to Hilda and Jonathan Duncan was certainly unexpected, but they made it work. Despite being raised in a more conversative minded town, Aubrey was taught not to conform to gender norms, and it was something he found extremely comfortable, even so far as referring themselves in non-binary terms on occasion.
But the confusion, to their friends and family, didn’t stop there. Another big question mark in Aubrey’s life was their career. The thing they would do for the rest of their lives. He was extremely talented, in many ways, with a beautiful voice and talent in guitar and piano. But he was also smart academically, exceeding expectations in his math-related classes at school, even as far as being put in an AP class at fifteen. Whilst his parents wanted him to pursue what made him happy, and singing and performing did indeed make him happy, Aubrey knew that they needed to think realistically. The statistics on how many people made it in show-business was dishearteningly low. So, he went to  college to study Economics, knowing he could at least get a decent 9-5 job in that, and focus on his music on the weekend.
Everything changed when Aubrey was 24 years old, working in the accounting office at the office his dad also worked out. It was a board member of the Ritchie Corporation who had personally invited him to interview for an investment banking job at their company in Anophtopia. At first, Aubrey was hesitant. It wasn’t a job he considered, he was leaning towards a math teacher route, and it was far away from home, but he saw the starting salary and decided to go for it. He could live comfortably on that and invest in his music career too.
It’s been eleven years since Aubrey has moved to Anophtopia, and whilst it’s not really that much of a surprise that his music career hasn’t gone anywhere, neither has his career at the Ritchie Corporation. Still in his junior position at the office, younger hires getting promoted, he’s lost his spark. Being given a strong prescription of anti-anxiety medication, Aubrey just feels sluggish and desperate to get somewhere, and be something. Because right now, he’s just a middle-aged loser with no family and no reward for his effort, and he is tired and anxious, and tired of being anxious.
