The Joker’s “Coming Out” story.

For 2024 Rainbow Month Instead of DC throwing bisexuals at us.

I want DC to finally acknowledge their original Queer character,

The Joker but, you can’t have just anyone tell the Joker’s coming out story. I want Paul Dini to come back and fix the mess he started!!!

Prior to the introduction of Harley Quinn writer Neal Adams portrayed the Joker as a gay character but, when Batman the animated series came out writers didn’t want to get cancelled so Paul Dini invented Harley Quinn to make the Joker seem less gay.

It didn’t really work but,

Harley did become a popular break out character. Now we all know the whole story of Harley and Joker. Their relationship was doomed from the start. Instead of focusing on the whole “Mad Love” plot. I want Dini to take modern Harley back to her roots as the Joker’s therapist.

You see Harley never really got around to actually being a therapist to the Joker. She was appointed as his therapist but,

Harley had different things on her mind.

I want Dini to do justice to Harley. You see even though Harley is no longer with the Joker he’s still her whole life. She spent the first half of her comic career obsessively in love with the Joker and, constantly defending him for his actions. Now in the second half of her comic career Harley obsessively hates the Joker and, blames him for her actions. (Yes to all you rabid Harley fans the Joker was abusive to Harley but, now after she bit off his lip, shot out his eye, stole his cut off face, repeatedly tried to kill him more times than he actually tried to kill her, and the infinite number of times she’s punch, kicked and, hit him in the crotch. I think they’re good and, if this makes the Quinn fans go feral look even if some hack online said that a couple couldn’t be mutually abusive, I’ve seen it enough times in real life with, my own parents, family, friends and strangers to know that they can.)

I think Dini should write Harley sitting down with the Joker and, for once actually being his therapist. Now Joker is way too far gone to ever be cured and, there’s no way anyone could help Joker rationalize his feelings about Batman but, Harley could help the Joker come to the conclusion that he’s actually gay and, that much of his obsession comes from his sexual attraction to Batman. Will Joker and Harley be friends after this? No. No they will not but, like in the Harley Quinn Show it will help Harley and, Joker come to terms and, move on, only this time Joker won’t be a victim of straight washing like he was in Batman the Animated Series and The Harley Quinn Show. As for all the haters who will reply with “We don’t want the Joker in the Gay Community!” Well that’s too damn bad! It’s how he was originally written by Neal Adams which happened before the Killing Joke or the introduction of Harley.

There’s a lot of people I don’t want in the community too but, they’re here and they’re queer and, I got used to it. (For all Jarley shippers who protest, You’ve already had your turn!)

Joker: Folie à Deux

What if we're totally reading this wrong? Think about it:

That last scene in the trailer, with the lipstick on the glass? What if that's the first scene in the movie?

That's why she says... "I want to see the real you..." she's already trying to make him trust her. And you can see the moment Arthur turns into Joker (He goes from vulnerable to mischievous)

Besides you can see the sleeve of her shirt, it looks like a black suit, and her hair seems brushed and clean in the reflection of the glass

Imagine Arthur meeting Dr. Harleen Quinzel early on and becoming obsessed with her. He starts daydreaming about her, imagining her as crazy as him. (That's why she looks so elegant and angelic in here, he's seeing her as his doctor while he's full on Joker)

Harley is there to analyze him, to determine if he is insane or not, her testimony is what will change the veredict of the trial

Then, as the story progresses, we see Harley trying to understand him, investigating about him. Discovering some hard truths about his past and going from being her psychiatrist to feeling sorry for him and finally falling in love with him.

Maybe she will also start fantasizing about him, about the Joker.

Maybe she's struggling with her feelings and it's starting to drive her crazy, the need to understand him, to know that he's wrong, to know that she could condemn him or save him, to feel an obsessive need to be able to cure him, but failing so at the end the only way is to join him.

Then we hit the trial scene, and there's Harley, decked out as Harley freakin' Quinn, blowing up the courthouse. And everyone is surprised by that (Isn't that the doctor? Harleen Quinzel? Not anymore)

Maybe this would be one of the joint fantasies, when he is testifying.

Maybe we'll have several court scenes. Turned into musical sequences

They escape from the courthouse in the explosion. and if you look at the clothes they are the same as those we see in some leaked images

So maybe something went wrong and Harley turned him in to the police, maybe she tried to frame him for the courthouse explosion. Arthur flees.

Arthur is caught, thrown back to Arkham, and has his heart stomped on. He is in worst shape now.

(This is also a hint from the comics, the Joker escaped so many times and got caught again and so on…)

Then we are shown the first scenes of the trailer.

They put him in isolation and when he finally comes out, he is surprised to see Harley back, but this time as a patient. (That's the meaning behind the long stare share between them, not a love at first sight moment)

The headshot scene is a gesture that shows that Harley remembers all the conversations in therapy with Arthur, and a way of communicating that she is on his side, that she has not betray him but has joined his madness.

And I think the end of the movie could be them escaping Arkham, blowing up the place like it's the courthouse.

And the final scene is of them, finally dancing in the real world, unaware of the chaos around them.

I apologize if this seems crazy, obviously it can't be that way but I would love to see a version where Dr. Harley slowly descends into madness.

Thing I noticed about these two, after the seeing any LEGO media of them, my standards of what they could and should be have gone thru the roof, I love when authors make them ex lovers turned business partners/friends, the relationship becomes so cool and actually fun because they both spread chaos and mayhem but are doing it while being friendly and playful to eachother! I just wish it was canon more often :(
