Keep It In The Family is only the second book I’ve read from John Marrs but I’m fast becoming a fan of his work. Thanks to the gorgeous people over at the #bitcrackbookclub for choosing this as a buddy read, it was certainly a chilling and atmospheric thriller!⁣ ⁣ This is the story of Mia and Finn who have recently bought their own home now Mia is pregnant and apart from some interfering mother-in-law issues, Mia is looking forward to the future. That is, until they find a frightening message on one of the walls - I WILL SAVE THEM FROM THE ATTIC. ⁣ ⁣ On further investigation, they are faced with a gruesome discovery and a realisation that their new house was a place of terror and torture. Furthermore, the discovery of the horror of the past is very much lurking in their present threatening everything Mia is trying to protect. ⁣ ⁣ This really is a fantastic thriller with twists and turns that could easily keep you up all night. Just when you think you know what’s going on, Marrs throws another curveball the readers way, building the layers of shock and surprise even deeper than you could ever have anticipated. Keep It In The Family is a perfectly imagined page-turner with an exciting, breathtaking plot that is sure to delight fans of the genre. What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than to read a sci-fi, thriller about “DNA soulmates” gone wrong? This was an engaging, keep-you-guessing book with a premise I haven’t read anything similar to before. It follows a multitude of different characters with their own stories about being “matched” with another person and it’s not all chocolates and roses for any of them. This is a slow thriller with a subtle sci-fi element and I found it quite entertaining. The One is a book from John Marrs - now playing on Netflix. This book is about the idea that everyone has a perfect genetic match and a company helps you find them - for a fee. There are several storylines that make this feel more like a collection of short stories with each story having a different resolution. There’s a serial killer, the scientist that discovered the gene, one who discovers something unexpected about his sexuality and another couple that fights attraction. Marrs does a nice job resolving the stories. I had a different idea for the serial killer but his worked 😱 I like the way Marrs stretches an idea just enough to make it seem believable. Do you believe there is one person out there for you? Meredith says that the first time she saw me she knew we would get married. And I was a mess. But here we are 39 years later better than ever. Hello everyone, hope this Easter Monday finds you well. Unfortunately as this post comes to you I’m not feeling too grand but luckily I have a cosy bed and lots of books to keep me occupied. These are the physical books coming up on my TBR and I’m really looking forward to them. Specifically Midwinter which I’ve been meaning to get round to for months! The book at the bottom is my smallest Penguin clothbound classic - Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys. I am currently listening to THE MINDERS by John Marrs. After reading his last release, What Lies between Us, I knew I'd pick up his next. But I didn't know how excitingly different it would be! This book has been interesting from the very beginning. There are several perspectives, but the characters are so different you always know whose head you're in. They're all so unique and interesting, and I can't wait to find out where this story ends up! The narration is superb and makes me so glad I'm listening to this one! Ich fange ein neues Buch an und es ist einfach nur gut.  Diesmal waren es 500 Seiten in der näheren Zukunft. Ich habe mich also in das England der Zukunft begeben. England hat die Vorreiterrolle in Sachen selbstfahrende Autos übernommen. Libby Dixxon wird in das Kontrollgremium der selbstfahrenden Autos berufen. Sie muss also eine Woche in dieser Kommission arbeiten, prompt kommt es am zweiten Tag dazu, dass sieben Autos entführt werden. Die Fahrer der entführten Autos sind recht unterschiedlich.
