Kaoru. Kaoru was so pretty.

That thought had crossed through young Kojiros mind far too often. His best friend since childhood had always had feminine features, and his pastel pink hair made him look even cuter than ever. But as they reached highschool and Kaoru grew, Kojiro saw him become more alternative, held his hand as he got his piercings and laughed when Kaoru complained about the pain the following days.

Kaoru was so pretty.

“The hell are you thinking about?”

Kaoru was talking to him.

“Huh? Nothing.” Kojiro would respond.

“Yeah right, you keep staring at me. What, have something in my hair?”

That gorgeous pink hair Kojiro had spent many nights wanting to play with, and had let himself slip up and indulge on sleepovers when Kaoru asked for help braiding it.

“No, you’re as ugly as always, don’t worry.”

“Asshole.” Kaoru would laugh.

The walk to school in spring was never this distracting. Usually Kojiro would admire the pretty trees filled with pink petals that fell around them, but this time his eyes were elsewhere. Small glances he allowed himself to steal. Kojiro thought himself the luckiest man in the world. And then Kaoru would pull his hair back to tie into a ponytail. Smooth delicate fingers easily gliding through soft hair, some of his loose hairs framing Kaoru's face effortlessly. A gorgeous show in which Kojiro felt he was going mad. A heat rising to his cheeks.

“What are you lookin’ at? Idiot.”

Kaoru was so pretty.

Hi everyone! It's Day 5 of Fandom Pride Parade 2023, which is being run by @magicalmonthlyprompts 💖 For today's prompt -- Nature, Nurturing/Tender Care, Green -- who better to feature than Kojiro and Kaoru (aka Joe and Cherry) from Sk8 the Infinity?

This little fic takes place after Episode 9. It's a popular canon-divergent trope, but one that I really wanted to try my hand at, given the prompts. In this version of events, Kaoru wakes up after breaking out of the hospital in a familiar place, where he's greeted by a familiar face, one who loves to take care of him.
