I am just starting to get into the Marauders and wanted to ask, do you have any fic recommendations? There are so many and I’m not sure where to start

hi hello! Welcome! There really is so much out there but considering you're new(ish?), I will rec some fics that play closer to the canon realm:

The Last Enemy series by @chdarling is where you need to start if you haven't already. You won't regret it. Superb characterization! Feels like stepping back into the magic of the original series.

Here are some other stories that have come to mind. I haven't read them all but I've heard amazing things about them all:

It’s always something. Something that draws him towards her, regardless of who else is in the room. Something that pricks the hairs on the back of his neck when she enters, or laughs, or hell, even breathes. It’s this inexplicable, fated thing that unsticks his feet and sends him sauntering over to her now.

JilyRadar!!!!! I have found such an intense Jily fic that includes Harry’s actual birthday and a lot of action and angst, but the characters are so believable. Read it and help me spread it around like wildfire! It’s incredible! I’ve been bugging the writer of it to write more.

HI HELLO YES!! I’m so happy we’re opening fingers crossed ( @pottinglilies ) fanclub as well and that you decided to join the ride!! 

The old version tbh was only a few chapters further and didn’t go far relationship-wise yet, BUT I’ve seen stuff and things were really starting in the last couple chaps🔥 especially since that was after I got to witness single-handedly the most awaited event - goodbye to Talia 😎

But I must say that this new chapter is almost completely different from the old one and took a whole new direction, which in my opinion is a much much MUCH better direction!!! And the patrols+stairs with all that sizzling chemistry is ALL NEW 🔥🔥🔥 and I’d say even hotter than what was-to-happen before. So I can’t even imagine what new greatness is in store for us and can’t wait 🙌 🤩

Hahahahaha you are correct my friend, I am ALL of those things 😂😂😂 As an innocent, clueless Tumblr user I created these blogs as sideblogs and ended up without 80% of the site's functions and just confused everyone.

An advice to those thinking of creating a sideblog - think twice!

I love both these questions because nothing makes me happier than bringing wonderful fics into the spotlight so that they get all the love they deserve.

3. Are there any fics that inspired you to write what you do?

I am constantly getting inspired by other fics and writers, and I think it’s impossible not to when you have such a brilliant fandom with even more brilliant writers. I think Earthquake Drills by @efkgirldetective is an obvious answer because her writing is endlessly fascinating and lyrical. Reading her works just makes you want to write better yourself. Commentarius by @bcdaily has taught me everything I know about writing kisses and romance and humour, and it was the starting point for a lot of things I write now. I think I got obsessed with writing meet-cutes and AUs after I’d read Wind and Waves and Starstruck all those years ago.

But beyond these, every little piece of writing that you read is bound to stick with you in some form or another, so there is really no way to pinpoint every fic I’ve ever been inspired by.

9. Tag 3 fic writers you think are underrated/unknown in the fandom/fanfiction community

UGH THERE ARE SO MANY. Probably not underrated, but they could always do with more appreciation!

what does it take to get recommended on this blog? not criticising but i just don't know what goes into your fic searches and fic recs and am curious

no worries! um so:

we have been recc’ing fics for forever now and all of the admins have been in the jily fandom for ages, so when a request pops up we usually know at least a few from memory. we also read a lot of fanfic (as you’d expect) so we’re always finding new stuff. @jilyradar in particular is great for this.

if we’ve read something particularly good which we just want to shout about we will post it without being prompted. it’ll be under our fic rec tag.

we have a tag (#jilyarchive) which we do look at but very rarely. this probably isn't the best place to get ur fic noticed but its always good to tag us anyways in case one of us gets round to sorting through it. 

we take recommendations. people often reply with further fic recs and we will add those recommendations to the post. we also usually have our submissions box open for u to send in recommendations but we should note that we read these in order to be able to tag them, and as such it might take a while for us to post them (esp if we’re looking at a multichapter fic)

hopefully that answers your question! honestly a lot of it is just sheer dumb luck as to what we see on the ao3 tags, our own dashboards, etc

I don’t have an Ao3 account but I run a Jily fic rec blog @jilyradar where I do weekly recs of what I think are (or were) hidden gems. I’ve also made several rec lists based on themes: smut, classics, summer, canon, holiday.
