This was kinda sloppy but I did it mainly just for fun

Ive been litterally losing my mind over @tbgkaru-woh 's designs for like 3+ days now straight. ESPECIALLY HUAISANG!!!! Im planning to make some proper art with their designs at some point but for now this is the closest I have. I also have now developed the habit of giving Huaisang braids that you'll see in my other doodles whenever I happen to post them ehe

I have no faith in nailing this prompt, just because I think the Nie Huaisang living in my head is very different from the one in everyone else’s. I could be wrong. And if I completely bungle it for you, feel free to leave a longer prompt for me.

The worst is over. There will be brighter days.

There are orioles in the field, only one or two, flitting around playfully with their bright bellies glinting in the sun. Nie Huaisang stands among them, smiling serenely and watching the patterns of their flight.

Jiang Cheng watches him in turn, from a decent distance, with several things buzzing at the back of his skull and none of them pleasant enough to express in a field of flowers and birds. So, he simply observes.

The worst is over, he thinks again, watching the rings on Nie Huaisang’s hand shine where he reaches out to entice one of the orioles into perching. Too-trusting, the little thing lands, ruffling its feathers and sitting calmly, unaware of all the horrible, crafty things that could happen to it in those hands.

Perhaps Nie Huaisang is just too shiny, too birdlike himself, to stay away from. And Jiang Cheng feels bile rise in his throat at the realization that he, himself, may be no better off than a small bird.

The revelations in Guanyin Temple changed the way he looks at Nie Huaisang’s mind, his abilities, but not the way his eyes trace the delicate curve of Huaisang’s back. He doesn’t have to wonder if the other man is aware, their eyes meet often enough in crowded rooms for Jiang Cheng to know he’s painfully obvious.

Even now, as though he senses the track of Jiang Cheng’s thoughts, Huaisang turns to meet his gaze across the field, smile turning to more of a smirk.

On the wings of orioles peace takes flight, there will be brighter days.

Jiang Cheng just hopes they live to see them.

Do ya'll ever think about how every character in MDZS is living in a radically different genre of story?

Cause yeah, sure Wei Wuxian is living in a danmei fantasy novel with strong romantic comedy elements, but if you slide over a bit Lan Wangji is living a serious and heady drama about regret, loss, yearning, the passage of time, and ultimately atonement.

Scooch on over to Xichen and your in a straight up Greek tragedy, right down to the parable about hubris and trust. Jin Guangyao is living meanwhile in a political dark fantasy al'la Game of Thrones, Nie Huaisang is in a Gothic moody Monte Cristo-esque reflection on revenge and deception, and while Lan Sizhuhi and Jin Ling are living in two VERY different YA fantasy books ('magic boarding school/secret orphan of destiny' and 'Steven Universe style coming of age/discovering all your family are some flavor of evil and magic' respectively).

Everyone connected to Yi City is living inside a dark psychological thriller/horror flick, except for Xue Yang who is in a Found Family/Enemies to Lover fic right up until he isn't.

Jiang Cheng's entire life has been one long soap opera, and it is showing no signs of stopping anytime soon.

S/O suffers from sleep paralysis

Requested by anonymous: Anyone from The Untamed you want with a reader who has sleep paralysis? She tries to alert her husband but she can't because she can't talk or move, but she still manages to alert her husband and he then tries to help her?

Pairing: (Wuxian, Jiang Cheng, Huaisang) x fem!reader

Warnings: slightly suggestive bullet point at the end, except for that none

Wei Wuxian:

Wuxian seems like a heavy sleeper

so even when you could move and shove him, he probably wouldn't awake

but he also has a sixth sense for trouble

(how else does he survive so easily through everything)

so when you wake up, only to find out that you couldn't move a muscle

it is concerning

the room is dark and yet you can see shadows, even though they aren't actually there

you want to move desperately, but you just can't and thus you chose to just screw your eyes shut in hope that it would somehow make you feel less afraid

luckily for you, Wuxian usually magically awakens when this happens

and when he sees you, he immediatley knows that something is wrong

even when he doesn't really know what is wrong

he quickly wakes you up, shaking you awake before hugging you closer to him

he's the type to not sleep again until he is sure that you're okay

doesn't agree if you tell him that you don't want to sleep

even when you explain why you don't want to sleep, he insist that you still need to

will hug you until you sleep eventually

he's afraid of it happening again and doesn't want to go to sleep before you

always wait for about an hour after you fall asleep

just to be sure

will also gladly take your scolding for it

Jiang Cheng:

this guy is a very light sleeper

I think he wakes up three or four times in the night

it would take him a few seconds to notice that you laid awake

yet you didn't answer him when he asked why you were up

that's when he notices that something is wrong

shakes you awake and flinches as you suddenly sit up

you cry as you explain what had happened

he listens carefully to your story, still a bit confused why it had happened

stays awake with you until you calm down

although he doesn't like physical contact too much, he still holds you in his arms

when you do go back to sleep, he opts to hold your hand instead

stays awake a bit longer, staring at you as you fall asleep

this time a peaceful sleep where your mind isn't playing mind tricks on you

when you're finally peacefully asleep, he follows

his hand remains in yours throughout the whole night

he also moves to wrap his arms around you

it's quite a funny morning

Nie Huaisang:

honestly, he's probably awake

insomniac of the trio

either he's painting or brooding

he notices when your eyes open, but you looked fearful if anything

he first thought you had a nightmare, but when you don't move he gets concerned

call out to you a few times before effectively waking you up by shaking you awake

he's weirded out by your story, but doesn't show it on his face

instead he just tries to calm you down

will get anything you need

you want food, he'll wake up the kitchen staff and asks if they can make you something

you want to just cuddle, he'll smother you with kisses while doing so

he'll make sure that you wouldn't panic again

if you decide to sleep, he will hug you close to him as a sort of reassurance

if you don't want to sleep, he'll stay awake with you and get your mind off of it

and he isn't opposed to helping you sleep in other ways ;)

Then one day he chases some kids away from harassing an injured pit bull, and he finds in the dog a friend and partner in surviving life on the streets. But there is more to his dog than meets the eye, and maybe the companion he'd saved might just save him in return.
