Fic or just a thought, do you think Tommy could love Lizzie after (if) he comes back? For charlie?
take a pinch of keyhole and stand very still - pettiot - Peaky Blinders (TV) [Archive of Our Own]
Ambiguously post-S6-E6, after Tommy's return and before the full onset of WWII. Board Director Lizzie Stark's international tour.
.
I feel such an intense remorse for those years I can’t even breathe when I think about it.
Lizzie lit her cigarette on the flaming paper.
Around the whole fucking world. Everywhere, it’s still always you.
She smoothed a blank sheet.
And I think of you. I think of you.
She tried to start again.
I’m coming home.
.
More notes at the end of the fic. Thanks for the prompt! It was an intriguing exercise trying to work out how to answer a query like this with fic.

Peaky women appreciation post
Here’s to these gorgeous and strong women…
First up- the one and only Queen. My fav, she made Tommy alive again. She was his rock, his light, his hope and everything right in his life. The badass Spy turned Saviour for orphaned children of Birmingham.
Tumblr media
May- I loved the class and calmness she brought, she was a good companion for Tommy. Her heart was in the right place and she was a good person but more importantly she was also dignified and strong. She clearly had feelings for Tommy in s4, yet she chose to be practical and listen to her mind. In the end it was the right decision.
Tumblr media
Tatiana- She is too much to handle. She was crazy and smart in equal parts. Even gorgeous and toxic in equal parts, she was better off far away from Tommy though. I liked her in my second watch!!
Tumblr media
Jessie- Passionate about her cause, not afraid to stand up to Tommy Shelby, a woman on a mission👏
Tumblr media
Another Queen- this Shelby sister was always vocal about her feelings, did everything on her own terms. Became Tommy’s rock when he trusted no on else. He needed her for both matters of heart and business.
Tumblr media
The other Mrs Shelbys- Special mention to these two. I liked Esme in s2 until they ruined her character and made her a cribber. She was not afraid to give opinions and fight for what she wanted. Linda was annoying but I never hated her. She really did try to help Arthur, he needed her. She held her own as a much as she could but I was glad the way she stood up and said enough is enough.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*******
This one doesn’t make it to my Gorgeous Strong women list!! Seriously what the fuck was she thinking when she was trying to bring Angel to Tommy and Grace’s wedding?!?! She was just jealous and probably wanted Tommy’s attention by not following orders and pissing him off. But she ended up messing up everyone’s lives😡 “i fucked your husband…”😵‍😵‍💫 ewwww

Chapter Nine of In The Fields of Asphodel (My Regrets Follow You to the Grave) is out!
Chapter 9: Hemlock (You'll Be the Death of Me)
Eleanor Blum didn’t know what to think of this man, this Peaky Blinder devil that made all of Small Heath cower before him, this almost-stranger with his dead wife and dead stare, but she wished he’d stop showing up at the flower shop she worked in. And that he’d stop looking at her with those blue eyes of his.
Follows aftermath of Season 03 throughout Season 04. Tommy x OFC.
Warnings: Depictions of child abuse, antisemitism towards OFC, canon-typical violence, canonical deaths, sexual themes, etc.

Peaky Blinders
Season 4, Episode 3
Jessie Eden:
"You know, when this business began, I did some research on you. It turns out I know someone who used to know you very well. Kitty Jurossi. You were in love with Kitty's sister, Greta Jurossi, before the war. Do you remember Greta Jurossi? Her parents were Italian. They didn't approve of a Watery Lane Gypsy . ."
"But you won them over. With your charm. Sweetness."
Thomas: ..
"Very...Very thorough research."
Jessie Eden:
"Greta died at the age of 19. Of consumption . ."
"And Kitty said you were at her bedside for three months. Every day. Holding her hand . . "
"And after she died, you went away to war. Kitty said that the sweet boy who left never came back. "
Thomas:
"No-one came back."
Jessie Eden:
"Here's the funniest thing. She said, in those days, you believed in things. In justice. Fairness.
"Once you saw a man beating his horse, and you fought him. He was twice your size, but you beat him . ."
"And then you beat him with his own whip."
Thomas:
"Kitty always liked to tell tall tales."
Jessie Eden:
"She's a party member now. She swears before you enlisted in the army you joined the Communist Party yourself. Is that true?"

How about women not serving the story or some man's storyline, but rather the story serving literally any woman's storyline? It'd be great, just for a change.

There are few things I wish PB had shown onscreen...not that I'm claiming it would've bettered the show but it's my greedy ass wanting to see it happen on screen
How did Grace happen to marry Clive, like what was the reason? How did she run away after shooting Campbell (considering even Tommy knew about it so it might be a pretty public knowledge that she shot him, so wasn't she held or Campbell didn't press charges?) Why was Lizzie suddenly crushing on Tommy so visibly?
Did Clive know about Grace and Tommy? Was Charles considered to be Tommy's child? What did Grace's family (or Clive's) know about the whole Tommy-Grace-Clive thing? Was Grace a divorcee or a widow? Was Charles considered a child conceived outside marriage? How on Earth did Arthur end up with Linda? Was Lizzie's rape even mentioned or like was it forgotten by Tommy also? How did he get that big ass house (like it's mentioned but still...)
The immediate reaction of the family after getting released from the prison? Did Tommy ever like apologize or they just chose to go their own ways? Were the other family members arrested too (cuz I'm pretty sure I saw everyone getting handcuffed/taken away)?
The gradual decline of his mental health to reach a point of such apparent suicidal intentions...Why and how did Tommy and Lizzie end up marrying each other? How did Ada end up dating Younger? What was Jessie's reaction to like being so brutally used tho?
Why and how did he leave alcohol? How did he and Lizzie recover from the barley field incident and end up at a much healthier space? What was Mosley's reaction or was he totally unaware of it? Did Tom have to pretend to support him for 4 damn years? What happened with the Billy Boys? Did they really not know it was Billy Grade all along for 4 fucking yrs??

There are some scenes in pb when Tommy is with women and certain music plays. Like, when he was dancing with Jessie he put on the song that grace was singing the first time he saw her. Or when he came to attend the dinner in s6 and there was this eye contact with Diana, the other woman sings “black velvet band”, the other song grace sang to him. It’s kind of recurring, a reminder that despite other women, she is still in him and he never loved anyone like he loved grace. It’s like a love theme that can’t play for the lovers anymore, so it plays whenever one of them feels attraction, and yet it will never be the same.

“Tell your brother that when we take power, all means of production will be owned by the workers. Essential industries will be taken under state control Birmingham Town Hall is a beautiful building and we plan to preserve it.
What else do I need to know?

The Real Jessie Eden
I feel like most people get pretty upset about the way that Peaky Blinders took a very real and very significant historical figure, and made her into a love interest. Jessie Eden was a pretty incredible woman and I highly recommend reading this biography from Graham Stevenson (who was a British Marxist and friend of Jessie's) as he has been one of the biggest critics of Jessie's portrayal in the show. Plus, it's got a few bits about how the show is historically incorrect if that is something you fancy. It's also an explanation for why we didn't see her in season 6 because in 1933/1934 she had 'disappeared' to Russia and was helping rally women to build the Moscow Metro! The show really missed out on showing how impressive she actually was.

I don't particularly like S2 and S4 as stories, but I tell you what, there are so many pertinent and powerful and relevant scenes in these two seasons they are impossible to discount, and i find myself going back to them over and over - even more than S3, oddly. S3 feels like it's so self contained and obvious in its text and subtext it kind of embeds, because the subtext is intimately married to the actual text plot. S2 and S4 I keep forgetting the sheer amount of subtext Stuff packed in around the plot.
that said the S4 montage at the end of the season, which sets up a surreal amount of very important stuff, felt like an absolute smooshing-in of everything they couldn't quite fit anywhere else at the last possible minute. Even the lengths of the scenes are so severely truncated, there's no decent rhythm of long, short, short etc..."it's important for S5, whack it in." made me wonder if they just didn't know if an S5 would happen until late in filming/writing.
but overall, my ultimate most HATED scene ever is that stupid little scene in S6 of Tommy sitting on the airplane in rough turblence with a blurry montage of memories occurring. I cringe through that scene so much. What was it trying to do? the turbulence etc and how Tommy arrived through a breaking (not gathering) storm is dealt with in the much more useful and powerful commentary by the waiting Michael/Americans. We already know the memories that might be running through his head because they're nearly all limited to S6 anyway - literally just saw them.
