With you until the end of the world Chapter 4
Chapter 3
*Angel POV*
I've become Jake's connection to the outside. It doesn't bother me since that way I can find out if there is news that my parents might be looking for me. It's been a month and there's still no one talking about a girl who ran off with a mystery guy. I walk the streets to go to the studio. From time to time I stop by so they can see that I use it, I stay for a few minutes and I leave. I haven't told Jake that I sent a letter to my parents, saying that I'm fine. Of course, I don’t put the address where we stayed. I have thought that every end of the month I will write to them and put different addresses. I don't want them to worry about me and look for me. I also don't go into details about who I'm with. Maybe the only one who knows is my mother? She always knew what was wrong with me and I told her but I didn't say many things. I didn't want to talk about Jake, just say that there was a boy I liked.
Okay, this might be the second thing I've kept from Jake. I also enter my mail, but disconnected. I have read the messages that my friends have sent me, wondering why I don’t answer my phone. Because I haven't told them anything. Lian asked me the day I left why I hadn't gone to work, later she found out from my parents that I had left, she wrote to me asking why I didn't tell her anything, since she was my best friend. The more I go up, the more messages I see that from when they found out. Most of the messages are from Jessy, Dan and Lilly. Jessy who has been writing more as if she were telling me how her day to day is going and that in the end she has decided to move, she’s looking for a apartment in Colville. It seems that texting me serves as therapy for her. Lilly texts me disappointed that I didn't tell her I was running away with Jake. Rather, she's mad at both of us for not telling her what we were planning to do. Dan writes to me worried that something might happen to me as I run away, if I might get in trouble with the law for being with Jake or if they might want to kill me because of him. I'd love to write back and tell them I'm fine, but they've already risked too much because of us. I decide to archive the emails so I can read them later.
I stand looking at the televisions in a store. They still talk about what happened in Duskwood and how the FBI showed up looking for a criminal. I see that they also name me quickly and I cover myself better. I want them to forget about this topic once and for all.    "Isn't Hannah Donfort the sister of that girl who made that video accusing two people of kidnapping her?" I hear a girl ask another.    "Yeah, what happened to her?" the other asks.     I walk away from there, continuing my way to the study. There are still “I am Jake” graffiti on some streets or some Nymos eyes. Where I lived, they gave my father and the other policemen headaches. Teenagers were the ones who painted the most. Then, after my article, it got a little worse. More overtime for my father.
I enter the building and go up to the studio, inserting the key to gain access. I lower my hood as I look inside. It's sparsely furnished and the blinds are down, it's only lit by the light from the computer. I check that everything is working fine and take out my phone to text Jake. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Angel
The computer is in perfect condition
Function correctly, as always
-----Jake has connected-----
Jake
Perfect.
Any problem upon arrival?
Angel
All good
No one following me, sir!
Jake
Do not call me sir.
I feel older.
Angel
Well, you're older than me 😝
Jake
Fine.
Well, being older than I am, you know that you must obey me, right?
Maybe tonight I can find a place for you to obey.
Angel 😳
Jake ;)
Be careful when you come back.
Make sure no one follows you.
Angel
OK
Something special to eat?
Jake
Hmm… Choose you today.
Angel
Well…
You? 😏
Jake
Ha ha.
Sorry to disappoint you, but I will be with the computer for a bit.
Angel
I know
I fancy something Italian
How about?
Jake
Of course:)
Angel
So, see you 😊
Jake
I will be waiting, angel.
-----Jake has disconnected----- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I put my phone away and pull up my hood. I'm not disappointed not to have intimate moments with Jake, honestly. Maybe at first we were a little…needy of each other, but now we just joke about these things on the phone. Also, it's not just about us having sex, for me, the fact that he caresses my hair when he is working on the computer or that we talk about the things we like being in the same room, without interruptions, is what I like the most. When I go to sleep, he stays next to me with his laptop, stroking my cheek gently, whispering how much he loves me as I drift off to sleep. I feel so complete with him.
I want that the day he is free; I can present him to my parents, that they see that he is someone special to me. Maybe at first my father wouldn't like it, but when he saw that they have the same taste in movies or a strong sense of justice, perhaps he likes him better, or also, the one who sees that he respects his daughter like no one has ever done before. I want that future for both of us.
Even though Jake hasn't told me anything about his past yet, it's like he's still afraid to tell me anything about his life for fear someone might take it from me by force. I hope that some day he will tell me something about his life, some detail. No one would ever get information out of Jake from me. I choose death rather than betray him.
*Jake POV*
I keep an eye on the data from the rental agency to know when people will come to look at the apartment. We have been here for a month with no problems and that relieves me, but I am sure we will have to leave eventually. You can never stay in one place for too long, so I have made a plan in case we have to leave.
I avoid thinking that I use her to monitor the computer. I think I like it better think that I do not keep her in here bored while I work on the computer. And according to her, she wants to know if there is talk of her disappearance, if her parents have caused a scandal to look for her. I do not know whether to care about jer words, I do not want to look like a kidnapper again. She told me not to worry about it, that she had made it very clear in writing that it was her decision.
While I am creating another surveillance program to detect any suspicious activity around me, I receive a notification that I have been named in his social network, again, posting a picture of me. I hacked his account to delete the post. I know he is been looking for me for a long time, but he does not know that he could risk being hunted down.    “Sorry buddy, but I can not let you put yourself in danger.” I mutter, heading back to the computer.     I make a small noise, complaining. I get a message. It is assumed that he would not have to send me one again if it was not that I did it. And I was not thinking about doing it again either, he already risked enough when I asked him to put the Nymos sticker on. But there have been so many messages that I have had enough. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Comet
Hey
Uh…
I know that I have sent you many messages
That I risk getting in touch with you again, but…
I don't know anything about you Jake 😔 and that worries me ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just hope he is talking meanwhile diverting his IP to another. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nymos
Comet, do not text me again.
Comet
Jake!
Do you know how many messages I have sent you?!
When I found out that the FBI was in Duskwood, I was worried!
Nymos
You risk writing to me.
Stop doing it or we will both be in trouble.
Comet I don’t care
Nymos
You can get your father in trouble.
Comet
He don't know nothing, he's busy keeping tabs on the people you messed with 😑
And enough of both of you treating me like a child when I'm an adult!
Just tell me if you're in trouble and I'll deflect any signals
Nymos I already have it under control. Do not worry.
And I do not treat you like a child, I just do not want to get my little brother in trouble. :)
Comet
Always with that habit of not worrying others when we already are 😠
And what about her? Don't worry about how I am for you?
Nymos
Angel is fine, do not worry about her.
Comet
Angel?
Who is Angel?
Wait… 😱 OH!
YOU ARE
SHE
WHAT?!
SHE RUN AWAY WITH YOU?!
Nymos
It was her decision.
Comet
I see that friends don’t enter the sack of the privileged 😒
Nymos
I could not make her see reason.
But I take good care of her.
I will not let anything bad happen to her.
Comet
Hmm…
If you trust her…
Nymos
I trust her.
Comet
Alright, alright
Just be careful…
Nymos
Henry, she is trustworthy.
Comet
But do you know that her father is a cop?
I wouldn’t trust her 😐
Nymos
She has always shown me that I can trust her.
She would have given me away long ago.
Comet
But this time you’re with her, it’s different 😰
Don’t let it give you away
-----Comet has disconnected----- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I pinch the bridge of my nose as I sigh. I have known Henry since he was a child, I myself helped him find a home and a father, we taught him everything we knew about security and hacking. He admired me and continues to admire me, to the point that when I contacted him again for help, he would not stop talking and asking me where I had been. Very persistent, if I dare say. I told him about her and he was even glad that I cared for someone as much as I ever had before. Now his attitude towards her has changed, as if she is dangerous. I have to assume it was the FBI news that made him change his mind. It is not yet known who warned them.
But I know my angel was not.
I hear the door and let out a small laugh. She still has trouble using the lock picks. I get up from the ground and go to open the door, then lean against the frame with a smile. She looks at me with a frown, picks in hand.    "I almost had it." she replies, putting them in his pants pocket.    “You have to avoid leaving marks on the lock” I lean forward, approaching her face “, if you see that you cannot, leave it.”    “ 'If you see that you can't, leave it' “ she imitates me entering the house.     I stop her by placing a hand on her waist, turning her around. I place my hand on her chin and approach her lips.    "Are not you forgetting something?" I ask, whispering.     I go to kiss her and she places a bag in front of me.    "The food." She replies with a mischievous smile.     I roll my eyes and pick up the bag. It is she who kisses me, to later let out a laugh.    "I told you, I was hungry for you." She chuckles, wrapping her arms around my neck.    "You are going to drive me crazy, angel." I caress her lips, seeing a shy smile.    Her cheeks turn red and I feel her skin warm. I kiss her forehead and hear her sigh. She hugs me resting her head on my body.    “I'm home.” she says, and I hear happiness in her voice.    "Yes, you are." I reply, kissing her head.
We sit on the ground. I take care of the program and she eats, watching what I do.    "Here." She tells me, approaching the pasta. I open my mouth and let him feed me. If it weren't for her, I would forget the most important needs in a human being.     She then gets upset that she does not deserve to be called an angel.    "Any news of your escape?" I ask after finishing swallowing the food.   “No, it seems that my parents have understood the letter I left them correctly” she answers after she has finished swallowing “, besides, I told them that it wouldn't be forever.”     I nod understanding her words. She can come back without problems whenever she wants, I do not keep her by my side.    “What are you doing now?” she asks, dragging herself over to me, setting the food container aside.    "I am trying to create a better surveillance program around us" I answer without taking my eyes off the screen “, I want to collect the information of the people around us and know if any of them could be an undercover agent if I look at their messages.”    "Won't it be dangerous?" She does not sound worried, more curious.     I look at her raising an eyebrow.    "Do not you know who you are talking to?"     She looks me up and down, cocking her head. She raises her hand to her face and dabs with her finger.    “Well, no, I don't know” I take her by the wrist and attract her to me, beginning to tickle her “No! Stop!” She exclaimed between laughs.    “I am going to make you remember who you are talking to, angel.” I tell her, laying her down.    "Wasn't it that you had to work?" She smiled as she caressed my face.    "I can take a break."     She bites her lip and pulls her to me. Before I can kiss her, I hear the notification that he is put up another post again. I quickly part ways, deleting all information and photo from that post. Just about, if I am a second later… I raise my hands to my head, taking a deep breath. When will he give up?    "What's wrong, Jake?" She asks me worried.    "It is nothing" I reply, taking her hand and kissing it “. Do not worry, why do not you listen to some music while I work?”     I move a little and let her settle in with me. I start stroking her hair slowly, trying to make her forget what happened. But she did not make it.    “Are you sure you're okay?”     I lower my head to look at her and smile.    “Yes angel, I'm fine.” I kiss her forehead and she nods.     The less information she know about my past, the better. It would be risking too much.

jessie makes a box she can't see into but specifies theres something inside. whats in there?? I'm assuming if she wrote "jessie gets a surprise package" it would probably just reroute someone else's mail but what if it was just "there is a box in front of me with something inside, and i cannot see what it is unless i open it"
this one is REALLY interesting because it really tests how actively the canon itself participates -- like, it can either decide something for her, which implies it makes decisions beyond the scope of jessie's whims, or it can't function at all unless given specific enough instruction by jessie like a calculator or a computer.
this will maybe sound like a bullshit answer but i really really think it depends on how long she's had the powers because as the story progresses the canon's ability to function independently of jessie changes drastically for... reasons that are huge spoilers. if it was really early into her having them then i think she would find something cheeky like a piece of paper with "something" written on it or something symbolic relevant to some other part of the story, but if it's lategame jessie then the box would contain something like the last object she looked at or summoned with the power prior to the package or maybe the noun that's appeared most in the story -- just literally whatever garbage code is floating around for it to latch onto. really lategame might have literally nothing inside the box until she thought of something else or have a black void if she was just picturing a void and her mind wasn't wandering or an actual error message or an IOU sticky note. midgame would probably have some kind of interruption happen that forces jessie to think of something, like someone asking what she wants to eat or if she's seen their uuuhh y'know uuhhh thing you know the thing they were just fuck it's right on the tip of my tongue-- closer to dream logic rather than seemingly intentional autonomous behavior (early on) or rigid computer-like behavior (late into the story)

Starter for @rangerbuzzlightyear
Tina was doing her rounds of people she had to pester this week to meet her usual quota, and much to her disappointment, Jessie was not home to aid in fulfilling that quota. While they were excellent friends, Tina really had to pick her days with Jessie, to get maximum friendage out of her. When Jessie was too tired, it was twice the work. To her dismay, when Tina arrived at the horse girl’s Jessie’s door, there came no answer. She peered through the letter box, stuck her face up to the window, and even tried calling. The sprite finally gave up on the endeavour when no answer called, turning on her heels.
To Tina’s great joy, however, someone was approaching Jessie’s front steps at the perfect moment. Quota, about to be met! “I didn’t know Jessie had a new mail man,” Tina remarked, knowing fine well that Buzz worked at the precinct, and was not, in fact, a mail man.

Solarpunk Writing Prompts #6
Here you can listen to original podcast
Here is the source of the podcast's transcript you can read below
Solarpunk Prompts - The Experts
Hello world. I'm Tomasino.
This is Solarpunk Prompts, a series for writers where we discuss Solarpunk, a movement that imagines a world where technology is used for the good of the planet.
It seeks to answer and embody the question, "what does a sustainable civilization look like, and how can we get there?”
In this series we spend each episode exploring a single Solarpunk story prompt adding some commentary, some inspirations, and some considerations.
Most importantly, we consider how that story might help us to better envision a sustainable civilization.
If this is your first time here, I'd recommend checking out our introduction episode first, where we talk about what Solarpunk is, why you should care, and why this series came into being.
Today's prompt is: "The Experts"
There is a community of very specialized experts. Only a handful exist in the whole world. They are normally hermits, focused on maintaining long-forgotten infrastructure. But their community exists across the internet. They consider themselves a family, even if each of them speaks a different language, and comes from a different culture. And once a blue moon they can even physically visit each other.
Over the last three years many of us have faced some level of undesirable isolation. And with that barest taste we can start to imagine the great sense of loneliness felt by those who work alone for weeks, months, or years at a time.
These people exist in our world today. Jessie Panazzolo was a 26 year old conservationist with an honors degree from Adelaide University who had been working in conservation since she was 14. After a particularly difficult 6-month assignment, she returned home distraught, alone, and defeated. While having drinks with another friend from the conservationist community she found a kindred spirit suffering in the same ways. She thought, “if I’m a lonely conservationist and she’s a lonely conservationist, how many are out there in the world?" And so she started a blog. Lonely Conservationists. In a year it brought in more than 2,500 members. One member called it "global group therapy that you can always access". They share job postings, memes, mental health posts, and support.
In a career of passion work often for little to no pay, with grueling work in sometimes harsh conditions, these people provide a vital service to underfunded NGOs the world over. Their staying power is built upon their compassion and personal drive and belief in their work. But even the most passionate person has struggles, doubts, and experiences the draining loneliness of isolation. So communities like Jessie's are not just a place to relax or talk about their work. They're a vital piece of the infrastructure of that domain. They are a scaffolding that allows connectivity to the unconnected.
Caroline Woodward writes from the Lennard Island Lightstation near Tofino, B.C.
Here is a small excerpt from a piece she contributed to the Globe and Mail in 2020:
Since 2008, I've been paid to watch clouds, among other things, and the criteria for my reports are precise: clear, partly cloudy, cloudy, overcast, partly obscured or obscured. No mariner or aviator needs to hear about white horses flying as high as the stars or the grumpy giants I see among the cirrus and cumulonimbus. Or to know I heard the first saasin, Nuu-chah-nulth for hummingbird, among the salmonberry blossoms yesterday. I file weather reports to Prince Rupert Coast Guard Radio every three hours based on the state of the sky, the sea, the wind, intensity of rain, density of fog and the possibility of showers glowering on the horizon.
But if we didn't have access to the internet, I could not write and work at a lighthouse in the 21st century. That’s my deal-breaker.
She is the author of Light Years: Memoir of a Modern Lighthouse Keeper a book you didn't know you wanted to read until this very moment.
There are others: rangers, anti-poaching activists, and so many more who live their lives in the fringes of society, set apart, alone. And for more and more, they are finding new kinships and community within the internet.
The heart of this prompt isn't the isolation of these experts, but the way they've created a new type of family across vast distances and in spite of differences in language and culture. In a science fiction setting we hear the word isolation and we think of Andy Weir. We think of the Martian or Project Hail Mary, and how science triumphs in these lonely settings. But I caution you, and remind you of our first guideline for Solarpunk. "Community as protagonist".
You see, community is community, whether it's around a camp fire, or across a terminal. The opportunity for us as writers is to make that something the reader can feel. How do you feel close, intimate even, with people who rarely, if ever, see each other's faces?
We can look to the gut-wrenching personal blog posts on the Lonely Conservationists, sharing mental health challenges, eating disorders, financial struggles, and more. These posts are not just stories, they are counseling, they are therapy. They give each other hope, or cry together. In some cases they survive because of one another.
It's the shared challenges that unite them. The shared experiences of hardship.
When we take that into a Solarpunk context and think about how this might be told, there are a few hooks that stand out. Any work that these experts are doing which is oriented toward making humanity live in balance with their ecosystem is on theme. If they are establishing or maintaining infrastructure vital to this mission, then we see a direct illustration of our second guideline: Infrastructure is sexy, but there are no simple solutions. Like Caroline you too can bring the poet to the machine. Show the reader the sublime beauty in that work, in the mundane, and in nature. And in their struggles we will see that cost, willingly paid.
The aspect of the story which holds the most potential, though, is the internet community. Play it straight and explore the hows of the connectivity, or the origins of why. Was it for something else, but now has been converted to this purpose? There's much to explore.
Or, alternatively, we can play with the reader's expectations. Perhaps our future lightkeeper is leaving notes for the day shift, only for us to find much later that day shift is 4,000 miles away.
How does that community empower the individuals? How does it feel to be a part of it?
Thanks for being part of my community and joining me for these episodes. How are they affecting you?
I'll talk to you soon on the next Solarpunk Prompt.
Music in this recording is Twin Dragoon - Hidden in brightness from Global Pattern's compilation Solarpunk: A Brighter Perspective

You Will Find Me: Chapter: One
Tumblr media
Characters: Andy Barber x Sarah Park (OC) (Past) , Andy Barber x Jessie Conner (Present) (OC), Frank Adler x Sarah Park (Present)
Summary: Three Years ago, an accident happened as Neal (Andy’s best friend) went to pick her up from the airport. (Andy was stuck in a case) Sarah went missing.
Andy spent years, looking for his beloved. But it was no use.
Sarah was found on the side of the road, with no memory of what happened. All she could remember was her name.
Chapter 1:
Three Years Later: Andy
Andy sat in the living room, waiting for Neal to call him back. Sarah's flight should have landed about an hour ago. He kept checking the status, and it kept giving him the same answer.
"Landed at 3:45 pm."
Time slowly ticked away, and the time was now 8:45 pm, and still no sign at all. Andy kept calling, but to no avail, and went straight to her voice mail and to the same with Neal's.
"Andy, is everything okay?" He heard his mom ask as she took a seat next to him.
"Sarah should have been here by now. I've been calling her and Neal. But they aren't picking up." Andy said.
"Well, have you checked her flight status? Sometimes, they can be delayed." Anna told her son. Andy sighed and rubbed his face.
"I have, and it said it landed on time, but that was over 5 hours ago. I even called the airport to ensure there were no issues, but they said everything was fine, and the plane landed safely!  The last message I got from her was ‘just landed, will see you soon. I love you!" Andy said, getting up and started pacing around.
"I'm sure it's all going to be okay-"
Beep
Beep
Andy immediately went to the coffee table and grabbed his phone. Neal's name was on, and he answered right away.
Neal, where are you?!
An-ndy (the sound of Neal heaving)
Neal, what's wrong? Is everything okay?
Andy-911-
And the line went dead. Fear started to seep into Andy, and his hands began to shake. He called Neal once more but heard it ring twice, and his voice mail came on.
**
Andy woke up with sweat dripping down his face. Wiping his eyes, Andy sighed and kicked
the blanket off of him. Turning on the lights, he walked out of the bedroom and headed down the stairs to get some water. Walking through the dark, Andy entered the kitchen and opened the door. The bright light blinded his eyes for a moment, making him squint. Then taking the cold bottle, he opened the cap and let the cool liquid run down his dry throat.
Andy leaned back against the counter and stood there in the dark. The nightmare he just
had, is still fresh in his mind. It still felt like it happened yesterday, even if it was three years ago.
The accident, desperately trying to search for her, was no use, and just like that, she disappeared. It still hurts, even if he moved on. Sarah is still a big part of him, even if he's set to be married next year.  The lights went on, making Andy turn to see his fiancée. He placed the bottle down, and she strolled towards him.
"Is everything alright?" Jessie asked. Andy smiled and sighed,
"Everything is okay. I just had a nightmare."
Jessie looked at Andy for a moment and wrapped her arms around him.
"Don't forget, we have to leave early tomorrow morning. Traffic is going to be worse since we are going to Martha's Vineyard."
"Oh, that's right. We have an appointment with the venue and catering company?" Andy asked. Jessie nodded, and she looked toward Andy.
"Plus, it gives us a chance to spend time together. It's been a hectic month, babe."
"Well then, we better get some sleep," Andy said, leading towards the stairways.
**
Sarah
It was a relaxed spring afternoon as Sarah drove along the road. It's the calm before the storm, meaning it's, Friday and the weekend will be filled with tourists coming down
for the weekend. In the back, she had boxes of groceries for the restaurant. This weekend, there were only a couple, but the inn will be fully booked next month.
Driving downtown, Sarah made a left turn and towards a long gravel driveway with a sign Adler’s Bed and Breakfast Inn. Parking the car, she killed the engine and opened the car door. She got out as she noticed a figure was working on something behind his truck. The man turned around and waved as he jogged over to her. It was there that her handsome, rugged fiancée was just inches from her.
"Hi, there, stranger," Sarah said as she looked up at his bright blue eyes.
"Hi, beautiful," Frank said as he bent down and kissed you on the lips. Pulling away, her bottom lip curled under her teeth, and she let out a small giggle.
"Mind helping me with the groceries?" Sarah asked as she ran her hand down his beat-up shirt. Frank laughed and kissed the top of Sarah's head.
"Of course, sweetheart," Frank said, pulling back and helping her out of the car.
Walking to the car, Frank opened the trunk and unloaded the groceries.
"I'll take care of it. Why don't you go inside and freshen up?” Frank said, giving her a wink as she playfully smacked his arm.
Walking into the inn, Sarah headed to the front of the house where the reception desk was. Setting her bag down, she went to the computer to see who was coming in for this weekend so she could get some preparation ready.
‘Jessie Conner plus four.’
Sarah read out loud, frowning at the same time. There wasn't a check-in time. She turned around to see Frank walking in.
"Babe, it looks like we have a group coming in, but how come there isn't a check-in time for them?" Sarah asked.
"Ah, sorry, honey, she called in while you were out. They said they were coming in later today but didn’t tell me when. She said something came up at the last minute, so they will make a detour there first and then come here." Frank said, shrugging his shoulders.
Nodding in agreement, Sarah looked at the time and smiled.
"Hungry, Mr. Adler?" Sarah asked, smiling. Frank laughed and wrapped his arms around her shoulders.
"I am, but for something else-" Frank said, pausing and going to scoop Sarah into his arms.
"We have to be quick; we need to get ready for dinner service." Sarah giggled and kissed him on his nose.
**
Andy
It's been a long day, with the last-minute change-up in a case he was working on. Jessie
had an emergency at the hospital with a patient. Earlier, she told him she would meet him at the inn, either later tonight or the following day. Not liking the idea, Andy sighed and went ahead. By the time he had arrived at Adler’s Bed and Breakfast Inn, it was 8 pm, and hopefully, it had room service because he was hungry.
Following the direction to the inn, Andy followed the long dark driveway. As he drove in, he noticed a few good cars since he didn't want a lot of noise. Finding a parking spot, Andy then parked his car and got out. Getting his luggage from the trunk of his Audi, he placed the alarm and headed towards the front.
As he walked, he looked around. It’s a pretty big property and beautiful scenery.
Opening the door, the bell dinged. He walked in, looked around, and noticed the decor gave him a warm feeling of being home. He hasn’t felt like this since that day three years ago, but now he hopes to have that feeling again with Jessie. Sighing, he took a step forward and went dinged the service bell.
“Just a minute!” He heard a woman say. Then a second later, a middle-aged lady with some gray in her brown hair wearing glasses greeted him.
“Hi, are you checking in?” The woman asked.
“Um, yes, my fiancée is the one that made the reservation. But she’s running late and
asked me to check in first,” Andy asked. The woman smiled and went to the computer.
“Ah, Jessie Conner?” The woman asked.
“That’s the one. Will she be coming tonight?” She asked. Andy sighed as his phone
beeped and saw that it was a message from Jessie. He quickly retrieved the message and let out a small groan.
“Well, it looks like she will be coming in tomorrow. Is it okay for me to check-in?” Andy asked. The woman looked at him and smiled.
“That wouldn’t be a problem, and I see that another name is on here. Are you, Andy Barber?” The woman asked, and Andy smiled.
“That would be me,” Andy responded. The woman nodded and clicked a few things on the computer. Andy signed a few things as the woman went to get the key from behind her. Andy watched as she walked around the counter, and he followed her towards the stairways pulling his luggage.
“Your room is on the second floor.” The woman said as she led him. Once they entered the second floor, they walked down the hallway and towards the last door.
“Here’s your room.” As she opened the door and turned on the lights, the woman said.
The room lit up, and he was immediately in awe. The room had a homey feeling, and he couldn’t help but feel something too familiar.
“The bathroom and showers are through this doorway, and the towels are in there as well. If you need to have more? You can call the room service.” The woman said.
“This is a very nice place you own,” Andy said, looking around. The woman smiled.
“Oh no, I just work here part-time. This place belongs to my boss Frank and his fiancée. My name is Beth.”
“Beth, nice to meet you. By any chance, your dining service is still open?” Andy asked.
“Yes, it still is for another hour,” Beth said.
“Okay, I’ll be down in a minute,” Andy said as Beth excused herself, leaving as Andy closed the door behind him. He went to get a quick wash-up from the long drive he had and change into some fresh new comfortable clothing.
He made his way down to the dining area and sat at the small bar looking at the menu. He heard footsteps making his way, but he didn’t lookup.
“You must be with Jessie Conner party, am I correct?” the lady asked as Andy nodded.
“What can I get for you?”
“A glass of water is fine, and can I order the special for today,” Andy said as he closed the menu and placed it down.
“Sure thing,” she said as she placed the glass of water on the coaster and walked toward the back, and came back out.
“This is a nice place you have,” Andy said as the lady turned around to look at him. He noticed her pale skin with black shoulder-length hair with a hint of light brown highlights them. Her brown eyes stare at him as she smiles at him.
“Thank you. My fiance and I want to ensure the guest has a homely feeling and a great time here. Where are my manners? My name is Sarah, and my fiance is Frank. We own this place.”
She reached out her hand as he reached up, and his hand touched hers, and something in him ignited. The touch of her hand brought something in him, an all too familiar feeling.
Andy quickly pulled his hand away, and she walked toward the back when she heard the chef call out to her. Sarah returned with his dinner, and she placed it in front of him.
“Enjoy,” she said as she went back to organizing the cabinet behind her. Andy would occasionally glance at her as he tried to remember where he had seen her before and that feeling the moment their hands touched. Andy couldn’t shake the feeling as he tried to remember why he felt like that.
“Sarah! Where are you?” a voice hollered from a distance.
“Sorry, I got to go. I hope you enjoy your stay here, Andy,” Sarah said with a warm smile as she walked off.
The moment the door closed, Andy couldn’t help but feel the warm sensation in him. The touch from the woman felt so familiar to him, but he couldn’t pinpoint where it came from. The contact gave him this familiar feeling, and the name and the voice like Andy had heard it before. Andy let out a sigh and looked at his food; maybe he had a long day, and his mind was playing tricks on him. He needs to finish up and go to bed. Perhaps that's what he needs, and he said to himself as he ate his dinner.

Hello! I'm not in the Shadow and Bone fandom but I've seen a lot of Darklina discourse going around, and though I've seen a lot of anti-Darklina stuff, I don't think I have heard many arguments from Darklinas, and was wondering whether you'd give reasons as to why you ship them? I hope I'm not giving the impression of being anti-Darklina/sending you hate mail.
Hi anon! No worries, I don't interpret it as hate mail. But I also think the reason you don't see arguments from Darklinas is because a lot of us don't approach fandom and shipping from a "right and wrong" perspective. Darklinas are currently more active content-wise than almost any other Shadow and Bone pairing, so I think that is probably the reason that you aren't seeing Darklinas equally represented in discourse circles: because instead of engaging in discourse, most Darklinas I know are just making gifs or writing fic or whatever instead (obviously there are exceptions, though).
I used to be the sort of blogger who wrote a lot of meta and answered a lot of asks that challenged my shipping preferences. I was a Jonerys and people did NOT like it back in the day, and I used to spend a lot of time trying to prove that it was right and okay and morally acceptable for me to ship them. I want to say that there is nothing wrong with being this type of blogger and I still answer asks this way occasionally. But as time has gone on I've sort of stopped trying to justify my shipping. I could, and perhaps one day will write out reasons why I ship Darklina in spite of the anti discourse and their talking points about what they perceive as being "wrong" or problematic about the ship--because I do of course disagree with their bad faith takes and I AM a Darkling apologist lol. Like regardless of him being the villain I do actually defend a lot of the Darkling's actions. But I would still likely ship them even if I found everything he's done to be indefensible. I just don't think that morality is a factor in fandom preferences at all. I either vibe with a pairing or I don't.
Because ultimately, I don't really think it's worth it to get into those kinds of arguments anymore--I’m never going to change an anti’s mind anyway lol. So without addressing common discourse at all, suffice it to say that Darklina emotionally moves me more than any pairing has in a long time (not just among other Shadow and Bone pairings but just in general), both their book and show versions. I think they're interesting, I think they're hot, I think the angst and impossibility of their relationship leads to a lot of longing, pine-y feelings as a reader/viewer that keeps me invested in the long haul and makes me want to create or seek out fanon content to explore the potential of their relationship. I think the idea of the Sun Summoner and the Shadow Summoner being together is just so appealing and such a no-brainer when it comes to ship-worthy dynamics. I think the fact that every time they touch it's like this super intense mutual physical reaction because of him being an amplifier (something that is explored much more in the books) is just so unique and delicious and makes every interaction they have that much more fun. I think the idea that two people who are that compatible, that much an embodiment of "opposites attract," but who simply can't be together because of ideological differences is just so compelling. I think them being two of the only immortals in their universe is equally compelling. The idea that Aleksander has gone 500 years without finding someone he wants and connects with as much as Alina keeps me up at night. I couldn't get enough of reading about their psychic bond that allows them to visit and even touch each other across vast distances. And in the show!version I think Ben Barnes and Jessie Mei Li have the sort of rare chemistry that makes me ship a pairing regardless of the circumstances or characters themselves.
So yeah. Tldr: I really don't have a real argument to make for the ship that would refute the anti arguments you're seeing about them. I simply love them. I really, really love them lol.

To Be Seen, Part Seven
Warnings : depression
Author's note : I based my depiction of Frankie's wife on the movie Laggies that I mentioned before. It's not exactly the same thing but I liked the way the mom was depicted in the movie and how, in the end, everybody made mistakes. I'm still very sad Lynn Shelton left us. So I guess, in a way, this is dedicated to her.
Chapter One ; Chapter Two ; Chapter Three ; Chapter Four ; Chapter Five ; Chapter Six
------
Two weeks later, you broke down. You’d felt it coming, used as you were to that grey cloud slowly sneaking its way into your brain. You called in sick on a Saturday night and turned off your phone, not even feeling guilty about that.
Linda had had her meeting with her ex, and they’d both been tentatively hanging out, trying to fix something that was so broken you didn’t know if there was ever a chance it could be fixed. You’d stayed out of the way, of course. You hadn’t spoken to Linda except for the occasional text to check on her. That left a sinking feeling in your stomach, one that came with the realization that even though you considered Linda your friend, you were also her ex, first and foremost, and though she didn’t mind poking into your love life, she seemed reluctant for you to know about hers. Even though you couldn’t really blame her, that heaviness never went away. That was the first sign.
Jessie’s story was something else altogether. James and Will had set up a tight sleeping schedule at Jessie’s house - a tight schedule of following her to work and staying with her all day, too. Will had involved all the boys except Frankie. They were taking turn watching her, making sure she and her kid were safe. You’d managed to talk them out of going to the guy’s place and beating him up - barely. But you knew that couldn’t last. The way Will had vibrated when you explained the situation told you everything you needed to know about that. Talking to Jessie hadn’t been easy either, because she’d first shut you out completely and resented her brother for telling you, you for telling Will, and Will for telling everybody else. That was understandable too, but things were tense between the two of you, and since none of the men wanted to include you in what you called the Jessie Watch in your head, you were left to watch and worry from afar.
But the worst thing was the complete and utter silence from Frankie. He wouldn’t answer your texts or your calls. You kept replaying the only phone call he’d answered to just like you’d kept replaying the moment he’d offered you wine and chocolates for Christmas - God, you wished you could go back to that time.
You dial his phone number, hoping he picks up. He does, starting with :
‘Listen, now’s not a good time. I’m sorry but I got some things to deal with right now. I’ll call you back.’
Unnerved by the tone of his voice, unnerved by his answer, and thinking we don’t even see each other anymore and I thought you liked me and trusted me you bluntly answer :
‘Pope told me.’
The silence on the other end in unbearable, so you continue :
‘Frankie, talk to me. Don’t shut me out, please.’
You’re begging, and you don’t care that you are.
‘It’s fine.’ He eventually mumbles, his voice unconvincing. ‘I’ll sort this out. I just need some time.’
Some time was more than two weeks apparently, and two weeks was your breaking point.
You felt alone in a way you’d never felt before.
That led you here, right to this moment, you opening a bottle of wine, all by yourself. You sat on your couch, and drank a glass. Then, a second. By the third, you were turning on your phone and dialing your mother. When she picked up, you completely broke down. After the phone call, exhausted by all the crying, you left your phone on the couch and went to bed. The battery was empty when you woke up the next morning, feeling puffy and barely keeping it together. You didn’t bother to plug it in.
As agreed upon the night before, your father picked you up a bit before noon. Starbuck was in her bag, and you’d thrown some clothes in a luggage. You felt a wave of relief wash over you when you put it in your childhood’s bedroom, Starbuck already carefully sniffing around the house. You called your boss to ask to use all of the vacation days you had. You didn’t know what deity to thank for the fact that he agreed. You knew it was all wrong. You knew you should be here for Jessie, for everyone. You father covered that : he went to Anna and Phil, told them about the situation and made them promise not to say a word.
You had three weeks of vacation, and nothing to do but pretend you were a teenager again, living with your parents.
Your father kept in touch with Phil and Anna, if only to get news about what was going on with your friends. At the end of the first week, he came back with a letter. You felt yourself shaking until he added :
‘It’s from Anna.’
He heard your sigh of relief but didn’t say a word, turning around to leave you in peace. As he got to the door, though, he turned around and announced :
‘One of these days, I’m gonna have to have a talk with that boy of yours.’
He looked tired, and worried. Your voice wavered as you answered :
‘You won’t have to if he’s not my boy anymore, Dad.’
You felt like crying, but you didn’t. You turned your attention to the letter instead, and smiled at the first line. Anna had taken to give you your own nickname every time you compared her to Jane from Pride and Prejudice.
Dear Elizabeth,
How long and lonely are the days without you. Our dear cook is not quite himself, since you’ve been away, as he has to endure me without you to soothe the pain in his ass that I am. The counter has lost its light, and even the birds seem to sing in a more quiet manner, as if they were missing their dear friend too.
I hope your dear feline companion Starbuck is doing well in her new surroundings. I do not worry much, though: change can be difficult, but she is anything but faint-hearted.
I will keep writing to you, dear Elizabeth, if only to let you know if a respectable gentleman of good fortune ever comes in to charm me. You must promise, though, that you shall write back.
Your Jane.
The letter was so sweet and thoughtful , with Anna’s clumsy attempt at sounding Jane Austen-ish, you finally cried, only this time, the tears were not all bitter. You could call her, but this seemed more fun. You fumbled around to find a piece of paper and picked up a pen.
Dear Jane,
How sweet of you to write to me. I cannot express how much I miss you too. Do not worry about Phil, for he is softer for you than you know. I am sure you are quite exaggerating to hasten my return. Alas, I will remain where I am, for I find this retreat is beneficial to my health.
Starbuck has taken to her new life quite readily, and is currently enjoying a lovely nap in the sun.
Guard your feelings well, my dear. Experience has taught us much in this matter, recently.
I’m writing a return address on the back, so you can write to me through the post-office and avoid my poor father the task of being the delivery man.
Your Elizabeth.
You left the house for the first time this week to mail the letter.
Those three weeks went by like this.
You learnt that Linda and her ex had called it quits for good. You learnt that Will eventually drove to Jessie’s now-ex-boyfriend’s house and beat the shit out of him, and that everybody watched it happen with glee. You learnt that Frankie’s ex-wife was still in town. Staying on the couch.
You wanted to throw up all the time, these days.
You still didn’t turn on your phone. You used your parents’ line to get an appointment to the doctor. The woman only had to look at you to say :
‘Yeah, you’re not going back to work.’
You knew what she meant : you barely recognized yourself when you looked in the mirror. You didn’t sleep much, you didn’t eat much, and it all showed. When you came home, your father hesitantly said :
‘They’re starting to be worried. They’re asking a lot of questions to Anna.’
You found that you didn’t care, and a little voice at the back of your head warned you that this was worrying but you ignored it. It was so easy not to think. You enjoyed the feeling - maybe a little too much, said the voice again. You ignored it again. You were standing on that fine line : you were aware that you weren’t fine, but you weren’t doing anything about it. You knew it would only take a push to bring you to the other side : and then, you wouldn’t be aware anymore that you were not fine.
‘I got two weeks more.’ You answered instead.
———
You hadn’t seen Frankie in five weeks.
You’d been feeling better, lately, but still considered going back to work. And by that you meant going back to work at all, ever again. You weren’t good at facing your problems, you knew that, and that whole existential crisis about your future sounded a lot like running away but you didn’t have the strength to face anything right now. You wanted Frankie and your friends to make some king of grand gesture while knowing they didn’t have the means to reach you. You knew that was ridiculous and a little bit fucked up. You kept at it anyway.
Anna visited you more and more. The first time she’d shown up unannounced, she looked so hesitant it broke your heart. You’d hugged her so hard and she’d given it back the same way. She took to showing up in the morning, when your parents were on their daily stroll, though she happily stayed for lunch. Your parents, of course, adored her.
So, that morning, when someone rang at the door, you expected it to be her. You realized your mistake the second you opened it. You took a step back, speechless, and Will and Santi used your surprise to push past you and come in, very much uninvited.
On autopilot, your brain pretty much gone, you turned around and just stared at them. They stared right back, Pope with a hard look on his face. Will, though, looked like he wanted to hug you but didn’t dare. He seemed to struggle for a minute, before opening with :
‘Benny is very upset you missed his last fight. It was a big one.’
You found your tongue, even if it felt heavy in your mouth.
‘Well, I’ve been…’
‘You’ve been what ?’ Interrupted Santi, his arms crossed and his gaze unforgiving. ‘Ignoring us for five weeks ?’
‘My phone is dead.’
‘For five weeks ? Cut the crap.’
‘How did you find me ?’
You crossed your arms too. Whatever reunion you’d imagined, that wasn’t it. The reality of the situation was starting to sink in and you were trying to get angry, because if you got angry, then you wouldn’t break down. You could feel the tension building up your spine, knew exactly what it meant too : that conversation was not going to go well because whatever happened, whatever your reaction would be, the part of your brain labeled stupid and self-destructive was going to take over.
‘How did you find me ?’ You repeated, your fingers digging into the flesh of your arms to try and ground you.
Apparently, though, your brain wasn’t the only one with a part labeled stupid because instead of answering the question, Pope just decided to go with :
‘Do you realize how Jessie feels ? Do you realize how we all feel ? We had to take care of your friend, your friend because you just bailed on us while her fucking ex-boyfriend was beating the shit out of her.’
The silence that followed was heavy, as you could feel both the anger coming off of Santi and the panic that was shaking Will. Your voice was cold, emotionless, as you answered :
‘I was there. Except nobody wanted me there. I was completely useless.’
‘Bullshit. So what, you disappear ? Jesus, Frankie must have a thing for women who pull that kind of stunt because you’re the second one. The boy’s not very smart, apparently.’
‘Pope.’ Will’s voice rang loud in your ears, but you were frozen to the spot. You wanted to answer with some smartass remark, something petty along the line of well she’s back now, so who needs me anyway, just to get back at Santi because you knew in your heart Frankie wouldn’t just leave you like that. You knew there was more to the story but Frankie had completely shut you out before you went off the grid and now Santi was in front of you, scolding you as if you were a child, the whole thing feeling too much and not real at all, like you were having a really bad nightmare.
Pope ignored Will’s warning and went on :
‘You know the worst part ? He’s so worried he’s going crazy right now. We’re fucking back to square one, when I had to pick up the pieces when the other one left.’
‘Pope, stop.’ You heard Will say.
You opened your mouth, just a reflex, because your brain was empty. You couldn’t think anymore. But you opened your mouth anyway and realized too late you wouldn’t be able to contain the sob crawling up your throat. Breaking down it is, then, was your last thought before you started crying and shaking uncontrollably. So you ran to your room, leaning on the walls to avoid falling.
You were crying so hard you didn’t hear the door open, some time later. You felt the bed dip, though, when someone sat next to you.
‘Go away.’
‘I’m sorry.’ Will’s voice answered as a hand went to your hair. ‘Come on, deep breaths. Everything’s gonna be okay but I need you to breathe, okay ?’
Your hand shot up to grab his arm in a steely grip to steady yourself. You complied, though. After a while, you felt like you could breathe again. Will’s hand kept stroking your hair as he started talking :
‘Listen, Pope’s an asshole, we all know that. Anna briefed me a bit about everything. She wasn’t the one who gave us your address, by the way. I swear, the woman is unbreakable. Linda just figured you might be at your parents’ house and we looked it up. I’m a bit ashamed it took us that long to think about it, honestly.’
He chuckled, and went on :
‘Anyway, listen. Frankie’s been really overwhelmed by his ex coming back, and he didn’t react well, though I must say you answered in kind but I get it. He told me how he kept you out of the loop and I know how hard that must have been for you because I can see how much you care about him. It’s so obvious, the two of you. It was even before anything happened. I know Frankie is, you know, the quiet one, and he’s not all sharp angles and shit like the rest of us, but he turns into a puddle when you’re here. He’s unburdened when you’re around. We used to give him shit because he wouldn’t talk to the cute bartender.’
You smiled, still not looking at Will, but he was looking at you and he saw it.
‘Remember when he came to ask you, for Maria’s birthday ? We made him do it. Benny taunted him. He said that if he had to get up and ask you that, he’d also get your phone number and a date with you.’
‘I’d never go on a date with Benny.’ You replied, your voice hoarse.
‘Yeah, you’re smarter than that. Remember the Christmas presents ? Frankie was having a bloody existential crisis over this. He wanted to buy you a book. Linda gave him ideas but he was freaking out because he was scared he was going to buy you a book you wouldn’t like. I actually had to text Jessie about your favorite wine and get Frankie to go shopping with me so he would stop freaking out. Pretty sure I’ve never seen him stressed out like that and we served together.’
‘You already had Jessie’s number ?’ You asked, pretty sure Jessie would have told you right away about that.
His voice grew quiet, thoughtful.
‘Yeah. I had asked for her number one day. But I was really drunk so I never used it. Figured she’d given it to me because she felt obligated or something since I was a regular. I thought I was taking advantage. If I had made a move earlier …’
You turned your head towards Will, then, knowing you looked like a mess and not caring one bit.
‘What happened is not your fault, Will.’
And then, it hit you.
‘Wait, earlier ? That means you did it ?’
His smile was blinding. You squeezed his arm.
‘Good for you.’
You both fell silent for a moment but Will wasn’t done.
‘Listen, that thing with Frankie’s ex, it’s not what you think, even though he’s been an idiot for not telling you. Wendy came back because she’s lost. She thinks she made a mistake, leaving like that, and she’s still trying to figure out if she wants to be a mom. It’s not about Frankie and her, okay ? It’s about Maria. She wants to try, maybe. She still doesn’t know. Pope shouldn’t have talked to you like that but he’s right : Catfish is lost right now, because he misses you and he doesn’t know how to fix it. He’s too damn respectful to show up here unannounced, too. That’s why we came.’
He kept stroking your hair as your mind processed everything.
When you left the room, Santi was waiting in the garden. You went over to him and hugged him. He whispered apologies in your ear.

Hello, hello!
Time to continue. I’ll post 2 parts again, so lets begin..
First one :)
CALL OF THE RAVEN
PART 11
Jessy came to Aurora shortly after, finding Phil and me sitting in the booth laughing and chatting. „You two are awfully cheerful.“ She said nearing us. „Hey Jessy“ i chimed back cheerfully „Well, Phil is a good company, how not to be cheerful.“ Phil grinned at her, wich made her look both of us skeptical „Yeah, yeah, if you say so.“ „Aww, sys,  dont be so cruel.“ He teased her. She made a face at him, turning to me „You ready? Im starving!“ „Ready“ i told her, taking my stuff and getting up. „Cya, Phil, thanks for everything.“ I said, smiling at him. „No worries, Maya, glad we talked. Dont be a stranger.“ He said, winking at me as he got up and went towards the bar. „What was that all about?“ Jessy asked as we left the Aurora. „Oh, nothing really.“ I replied, wich made her look at me with doubt. I quickly tried to change the subject „So, where are you taking me for lunch?“ i asked, grabing her under her arm. „I tought some junk food is what we need after last nigh, hamburgers and fries might be a good choice.“ She grined. „I totally agree.“ We walked to the hamburger place, wich wasnt far from Aurora. We sat at one of the tables, and ordered some food. As we waited for it, she told  me how Dan managed to wake up just before she left, begging her to drive his car back, and bring him some food. „He can really drive me crazy sometimes!“ she told me. „Aww, c'mon, thats why you like him.“ I teased, and she laughed. Our food arrived, and we started eating. After a while, i finaly told her, between my bites „I saw Jake last night.“ Jessy almost spat her drink. „What?“ she almost screamed „What? Where? Talk!“ I told her all about it, from the hoodie part, to where i left him standing. When i was done i added desperately „I messed up everything again, Jessy. I didnt hear him out, i was just so tired and frustrated.“ I sighed tiredly „Why is it always so hard with him?“ i paused before i said, sadness creeping in my voice „I just dont know how much more i can go on like this.“ Jessy looked at me, sympathy and care all over her face „I know, Maya. Its hard sometimes, God only knows how much.“ She started „Im just gonna say one thing. Just be totally sure you tried everything there is to get to the bottom of things with him, to be on the clear, once and for all.“ She paused before continuing „I can see how much it pains you, and i see you really care for Jake.“ „I do, Jessy, more then you can imagine. But im tired, so tired of constant fights with him, and not getting anywhere.“ „I know. And i really hope you will resolve it soon.“ She looked at me, giving me a reasuring smile „In the mean time, you can talk to me whenever you need a shoulder to cry on.“ I smiled „Thanks, Jessy. I really appriciate it, you have no idea how much it means to me. Im really greatful to have you in my life.“ She looked at me, took my hand and squeezed it „Im here for whatever.“ We continued with our food. When we wer nearly done, she oredered some food to take for Dan, and when it was done, we payed and left. As we walked back to the Auroras parking, Jessy asked me, all serious „Maya, what's going on with you and Phil?“ I looked at her „Aghh, its complicated.“ She stoped walking, and i did the same „Dont get me wrong, its non of my business“ she started „But to be honest, i've never seen Phil act like this, towards anyone. I think he's really into you, and, well, with all thats happening with Jake..“ „Dont worry, Jessy“ i said „I actually had a long conversation with Phil about all this earlier.“ She looked surprised „He knows  about Jake?“ „Not exactly. I didnt mention Jake per se, but he knows something is happening.“ I paused before continuing „I like Phil, Jessy, and he knows it. But we came to a mutual understnding about it all, so noone could get hurt in any of this mess.“ She continued walking „Aright, thats good. He is a jerk sometimes, but he's my brother, and i do wish him well.“ „I know, Jessy, and trust me, i dont want for anyone to get hurt here. I hope all will get in the clear soon.“ „I hope so too, Maya“ she said, as we came to Dans car „I really hope so, for both your sake, and the others.“ She gave me a tight hug, before entering the car, and smiled „Im here if you need me.“ „Thanks , Jessy, same here.“ She started the car, honking as she drow off , me waving her as i entered my car. Driving to the motel i tought about all that Jessy told me. I hoped she was right, and things will get clear soon. I really was torn inside. I had some decisions to make, and not an easy ones. And i was scared.
When i got back to the motel i realized i left everything in such a mess, and decided to clean it. I collected the sutff  thrown all over the floor. I grabed Jakes hoodie, burrying my face again in it and taking a deep breath. Damn, i tought, i wish i could talk to him, i need to know what will be with us. If there even is a possibilty of 'us'. And all that was going on with Phil was making me confused. My phone rang then, and i quickly put the hoodie on me before answering it. I checked the caller, it showed no number.. Could it be Jake? Then again, why would he hide his number? I answered the call „Hello?“ but there wasnt any replie. I said 'hello' few more times, before whoever was on the other side ended the call. Strange,i  tought, but decided to ignore it, someone probably just dialed the wrong number. I continued with cleaning, realizing i should get some laundrey done. I saw a self-service laundrey in town, i should wisit it tomorrow. When i was done, i decided to try and do some work. I sat at the table, opening my laptop, putting some music on. It always helped me while working, and this time wasnt any different. At some point, i checked my phone ,it was past midnight. Nice, i managed to finish on the project i took, without any interruption. I closed the laptop and went to the bathroom to brush my teeth. As i got to bed, i thought of Jake again. I hoped we would talk soon, i meant what i said to Jessy earlier, i really didnt know how much more i can go on like this. I sighed, closed my eyes, wishing sleep comes fast.
When i woke up i felt quite rested. Even tho my mind was a complete mess, i had a good night sleep. I took a shower, brushed my teeth and got dressed. I took the laundrey, grabed the car keys and my purse and headed for town. I parked near the self-service laundry place and took the stuff from the car. Putting the laundrey to be washed, i decided to go for coffe while it wasnt finished. I left the laundrey place, and walked to the coffee shop near by. I sat at the table outside, and ordered myself a big coffee and a toasted sandwich, might as well get some breakfast since im here. I took my phone out checking for some more work and found few interesting ones. Some alone time just working might be what i need now. I checked the news feeds and mail while drinking coffe. Jessy called at some point, telling she will be going to her sister for a few days, apologizing for leaving me on my own. I told her not to be silly, that i'd be working mostly eitherway, so she felt a bit less guilty about it. She promised we'll meet as soon as she's back, wich i acceptet cheerfuly. I was done with coffee so i paid and left. I collected my laundrey, deciding to get some stuff from the store before heading back to the motel, so not to do unnecessary trips to towns center every little while working. When i was done, i got all the stuff and headed back to the motel. I putted the stuff away, and clean laundrey in the closet. I went out of the room to get some ice from the machine by the entrance to the motels office. When i got back, i poured a drink  and took my phone. There was a missed call on it, and the number was hidden. Again? What the heck, i tought. Work was calling, so i dismissed it from my toughts, and focused them on working instead. I worked till late again, before deciding i had enouhg, chrasing to bed.
The next day i spent most of it working. I stopped only to eat and drink something in peace, and i took a short walk to stretch my legs a bit. I took a shower before going to bed, luling my self to sleep with some movie on the tv.
On the next morning, after i got up, i decided to quickly go to town for some fresh coffee. I drove to town, stoping at the caffee and getting myself the biggest 'coffee to go' they had, heading back to the motel. I got back to working, but was interupted by my phone ringing after a while. I checked the phone, and smiled when i saw who the caller was. „Well, if it isnt my favorite barkeep!“ i cheerfully said in my phone. „Hello gorgeous.“ Phil answered me. „Where you hiding at?“ he asked. „Oh, im at the motel. Working my ass off.“ I told him. „I'v been lazy with it lately, so it's taking its tol on me now.“ „Aww, sorry to hear that.“ He said „But, even so, you need to take a break. Bring that pretty ass of yours to Aurora tomorrow night, we'r having a party!“ he said cheerfully, and before i could even start to protest „And i'm not taking a 'no' for an answer here!“ „Aww, c'mon Phil, thats not fair.“ i started teasingly „You took all the fun out of it! I'm good at protesting!“ He laughed „I bet you are. So, see you tomorrow?“ „Ofcourse.“ I said, adding „Hey, Phil, whats the party for, by the way?“ „Oh, right, i keep forgeting you're not from around here.“ He said. „And i tought Jessy might already told you.“ „Nop, she didnt tell me anything, and since she is with your sister, we havent really spoken much these last few days.“ „Ahh, i see.“ He said „Well, in that case, it's the Aurora's opening day anniversary, and its pretty packed for that night, with drinks being cheeper. So be sure to come early, i'll save you a seat at the bar.“ „Thanks, Phil. I'll bring myself and my pretty ass then.“ I said teasingly „Thats the spirit!“ He chimed. „Alrighty“ i said. „See you tomorrow, then.“ „Cant wait.“ He said „Laters, Maya.“ That migt be fun, i tought. And if im lucky, i might finish with work by tomorrow morning, so some fun would be like a reward for it. I continued working, and was happy that i actually finished before i tought i would.I  checked the time. It was almost 3 in the morning! Ohh, guess i would sleep till late again tomorrow. And i didnt mind. The work was done, i had nowhere to rush, some sleep will do me good. I crushed to bed, burrying myself under the covers, sleep coming almost instantly at me.

“Sonny stop pacing your making me nerves” You looked at Sonny from behind your desk in the bullpen.
“You’ll wear a hole in the floor the way you’re going Carisi” Rafael laughed, sitting on the corner of your desk.
Sonny’s laptop pinged with a new email, he moved his chair out and sat down. Fin and Amanda made their way to stand next to your desk waiting to hear the results.
“Ok” Sonny huffed “Y/N come here please”
You stood up off your chair and walked around to stand next to Sonny. He grabbed onto your hand and squeezed it, you could feel the sweat on his palm as you held his hand in both of yours. Sonny clicked on the link of the e-mail and scanned the pass list for his number.
“There it is” Sonny’s eyes were wide.
“Sonny babe you passed” a big smile came to you face.
“I- I- I passed” Sonny jumped up wrapping his arms around you, lifting you up off the floor spinning you around. He put you back down on the ground cupping your cheeks kissing you.
“Congratulations Carisi” everyone said. Sonny turned to shake Fin and Rafael’s hand and hugged Amanda.
“I’ am guessing you passed?” Liv walked out of her office “Well done Carisi, we should have drinks tonight to celebrate”
“Well” Rafael cleared his throat “It will be a double celebration” Rafael looked over at you with a big smile, you looking at him not quite sure what he was talking about.
“You’re looking at your new Bureau Chief” you gasped and rushed over to Rafael hugging him.
“Congratulations Rafi” Rafael kissed you on the cheek, shaking the rest of the squads hands.
“Carisi, an ADA position will be advertised soon you should think about applying”
“Trying to steal my squad Barba” Liv patted him on the back.
Once Sonny had passed the bar the months that followed where a whirl wind. Both your leases had expired. You both decided to make the move to move in together. Managing to find an apartment you both liked just two blocks from Rafael’s and a 5 minutes’ drive to the prescient and the DA’s office.
Sonny applied for the ADA’s position, Rafael putting in a good word for him and he got the job. Liv was sad to see him go but knew how much he wanted to make the move. You were even sadder, but coming home to him every night took the sting out of not being his partner anymore. Rafael was enjoying being Bureau Chief and he told you that his next step was to become a judge.
“Babe what time do you need to be at Rollins?” Sonny yelled from your shared kitchen as he was making you coffee.
“10, Jessie’s doctor’s appointment is at 11. Amanda said Billie had a bad night so hopefully she isn’t too fussy for me” you walked into the kitchen kissing him on the cheek.
“Billie would never be fussy for you, she loves her Aunty too much” You rolled your eyes.
“Sonny she is 2 months old- what are you doing today?”
“Barba and I are going to catch up for a coffee, I’ am nervous for Monday” Sonny wrapped his arms around your middle.
“You’ll do great babe. Tell Rafi I said hi. I better go” You kissed Sonny and walked out of the apartment.
----
“Carisi, Rollins” Rafael walked up to Sonny and Amanda shaking their hands “Hey Jessie” Rafael looked down at Jessie’s pram with a smile. “What are we doing here?” Rafael nodded towards the jewellers shop “Where’s Y/N?”
“She is looking about Billie for me. She thinks Jessie has a check-up today” Amanda smiled at him.
“OK” Rafael looked at Sonny for the rest of the answer.
“Barba- Your Y/N’s best friend and you mean so much to her-“
“Spit it out Carisi” Rafael cut him off with a smile.
“I want to marry her, and I would like your blessing”
Rafael looked at Amanda and then back at Sonny.
“Of course you have my blessing Carisi”
“Ok good” Sonny let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding “Our appointment starts in 5 minutes”
“What appointment?” Rafael looked at him confused
“You and Rollins are going to help be design her engagement ring”
****
“Babe what are you doing here?” Sonny looked up from his paper work and crumpled pieces of paper all over the table of the empty court room that you had just walked through the doors of.
“I needed a break and I missed you- This case” you walked over to him handing him a coffee and kissing him hello. “What a case to come in on your first week” you rolled your eyes.
“You’re telling me- I have written my opening four times” Sonny lent back in his chair and patted his lap for you to sit “I missed you too” You took his invitation and sat across his lap, wrapping an arm around his neck.
“I hope that the case is over by next week so we can enjoy our anniversary” You kissed him on the cheek.
“If not well have to reschedule, but I hope it is” Sonny reached up too kiss you.
The kiss started out soft and soon become heated and needy. You pulled away from Sonny standing up off his lap, then sitting back down to straddle him. Your lips meeting his again for a kiss that was now more intense. Sonny rested his hands on your ass over your pants and yours where either side on his neck. Sonny pulled away which surprised you, you could feel him hardening,
“We can’t- not here, if we get caught, it’s my first week” Sonny looked into your eyes.
You nodded as a smirk came to your face. You got up off Sonny’s lap, pushed his legs apart and moved to stand between them, dropping to your knees.
“Wh-What are you doing Y/N”
“If anyone comes in just act like you’re writing” you winked at him.
You reached up and rubbed him through is slacks. Sonny grabbed the edge of the table. You undone his belt and zipper pulling out is hard cock from his boxers wrapping your hand around it giving it a few pumps, spreading his pre-cum all over his length and your palm,
“Mettimi in bocca per favour Babe” (put me in your mouth please)
You lent down and took Sonny into your mouth, relaxing your throat to take him all the way. Sonny groaned at the sensation, his knuckles white from grabbing onto the table to hard, and his head falling forward his jaw going slack. You started to bob up and down coming right up to his top, licking around it then taking back into your mouth. After a few more sucks, Sonny threaded a hand into your hair, bucking up into your mouth. Your eyes watering,
“Y/N” Sonny groaned as he bucked one more time into your mouth, his salty release running down the back of your throat.
****
“Why are you so nervous Carisi?”
“Seriously Barba” Sonny frowned at Rafael
“She isn’t going to say no is she. Let me see it again”
Sonny handed Rafael the navy velvet box opening it up seeing the shine of the beautiful diamond ring sitting inside that he helped design for you. Sonny tilted his head to get a better look at Rafael’s face,
“Barba- are you crying?”
“Don’t be so stupid Carisi. You better go, don’t keep her waiting- she looks beautiful. I’ll make sure everything is set up. Just make sure you text me when you’re on the way.”
That night after a beautiful dinner, Sonny led you up to the roof top garden of your building. You had to remind yourself to breathe when you walked through the door seeing candles and vase’s filled with your favour flowers positioned to make an aisle. Sonny walked to the end of it and got down on one knee and asked you to marry him. As soon as you said yes bubbles filled the air and your kiss was interrupted by claps, cheers and wolf whistles. You pulled away from Sonny’s kiss to see Rafael, Liv, Amanda, Fin, your parents and all of Sonny’s family.
“I can’t wait for you to be Mrs Carisi”

There were moments in the EB were I wanted to tell Link to just shut up (I still love you Link), but overall I didn’t think it was that much of a buzzkill for me. There were some good moments in the episode for me.
l think because Link has seen many failed marriages with his parents, and with their partners, which clearly affected him, he’s determined to make his marriage successful and happy (as he’s said before) so maybe when he hears Rhett talking about things between him and Jessie, Link feels insecure in his relationship with Christy, and that their relationship is not good enough (even thought not all couples have the same type of relationship or have the same way to show their love and affection), and so he comes of as being critical or hostile towards Rhett and Jessie’s relationship (he knows how he can be critical towards others without meaning to, it’s in one of Christy’s answers even). Maybe all that comes off as jealousy to the viewers.
Also, I think Link overall doesn’t like to see or show public affection towards a partner, maybe that even extends to verbal affection, so he could be uncomfortable listening to all that, which comes off as being annoyed at what Rhett is saying. As for their private lives, who knows, but the four of them have been together for so long, I think they know how to make it work (maybe Rhett and Jessie have a bigger role in that, but not necessarily).
If he doesn’t realize all that, they will continue to make content with their wives, because he sees no reason to say no, and maybe doesn’t realize how it’s coming off. I still love to see content with their wives personally.
I believe Link’s attitude is parts insecurity and parts jealousy. But neither is an excuse for his constant belittling / criticism of Rhett’s marriage which could be hurtful for the McLaughlins after all.
Him being uncomfortable with public affection or descriptions of it is hypocritical for a guy who feels the need to let everyone know when and how he sorted the mail with his wife.
He simply needs to sort things out, besides the mail.
