Today I saw this woman on the train, blond hair cut short and in this absolutely beautiful ankle-length skirt, kind of a gossamer or satiny fabric, white fading into sea-green, opaque at the top and semi-sheer with these beautiful flowing pleats. The woman herself was obviously tomboyish, though -- as I recall she was actually wearing combat boots under it all.

So naturally, my thoughts turn to fem!lock. 

Imagine fem!Sherlock who is just very chic , probably wearing these very tailored form-fitting shirts and black power-skirts and ultra-fashionable high heels under the Belstaff, and just working that angle because people are idiots and tend to think with the wrong head when confronted with a beautiful woman which only gives her that extra bit of advantage, though of course it’s all a game. And Jean is the exact opposite, probably buys her entire wardrobe of jeans and sweaters at Target because, first, she can’t afford much else as a med student, and second, she doesn’t want any of the rest. Real Felix-and-Oscar levels of differentness, but hey, Jean was the only normal person to answer Sherlock’s Craigslist post so they decide to give it a go. And they get on remarkably well.

One day, Jean twists her ankle hiking it across Central Park after Sherlock, breaks it even, and has months on crutches in a cast and then months more in an ortho boot, and she decides trousers of any kind are just too much trouble to be allowed. She’s not wrong, of course, and Sherlock teases her mercifully. What, you in a skirt? (Really, Sherlock, this is your fault.) Sherlock offers to share her closet, but there’s no way anything she owns would even come close to fitting Jean, so she pre-empts that idea by ringing up her sister, who snends over some staples that just might do.

Which is how Sherlock came to come into their kitchen one morning, faced with the sight of Jean in flowing ankle-skirt of sexitude and a cream satin camisole and ankle boots, Jean smiling shyly from behind her coffee mug, and Sherlock doing the blinky thing for frankly worrying lengths of time.

I just think there might be a story in all this, is what I’m saying.
