I’m sorry, but I do find it morbidly hilarious how Jean Jacket reacted to Jupe VS OJ over those six months. Think about it.
(Spoilers for Nope below)
Jupe is doing everything to try and Disney princess-tame this carnivorous alien pancake the size of a cul-de-sac. Fresh horse dinners like clockwork, setting up a whole little arena just for the visits, along with who knows what kind of extraterrestrial horse girl fantasy prep work in the meantime. Every bell and whistle he could pull out to keep JJ coming back on a schedule, he likely did. And we can guess the latter was always at night, yet the Star Lasso Experience was in the sunny afternoon. Which means he probably assumed Jean Jacket was hanging out in his clouds all day, just waiting for the next feeding like a trained dog--see horse, will hover. The UFO is his neighbor! They’re buds!
Nope.
Jean Jacket booked it back to OJ’s ranch every time, day and night. The same ranch where OJ was doing absolutely fuckall to interact with JJ. Instead he just went about his usual outdoor business with his horses (that were in plain view and never bothered until the snafu with the statue), perfectly oblivious to the giant man-eating Frisbee chilling out with him the whole time. For six months. No routine feeding, no song-and-dance interaction, no ‘But I know him! He trusts me and I trust him! I believe in our bond~!’ Just:
Jean Jacket, looming in a cloud: ...
OJ, head down, working and ignoring JJ outright: ...
Jean Jacket: ...I appreciate what we have

Okay but I really love the thought of Q introducing Picard to the Toymaker.
The Toymaker: Oh, I see that you have brought your favorite toy with you.
Q: Oh no, this is Jean-Luc. He is my Best Friend. Isn't that right, mon capitaine?
Picard *sees the poor guy who has been turned into an almost wooden puppet with strings attached*: Sure, Q. Whatever you say.

Summary: The trouble with Charles Xavier isn’t just that he teaches genetics and holds terrible views about mutant rights—it’s also becoming increasingly clear that everyone but Erik seems to love him.
The quote:
“Tip for you, bub,” Logan says, standing up and leaning towards him with an air of mock-confidentiality. “If you like him, you don’t need to pull his pigtails.”

I'm probably never going to finish and post the specific fic I opened with this (that's intentional, it's a writing experiment), but one of my favorite exchanges I've ever written and also a fun meta vibe for me in general is:
KAEYA: How was your date with Lisa?
JEAN: What date?
KAEYA: Your weekly dinner?
JEAN: Those aren't dates!
KAEYA: ...does Lisa know that?

do you think Jean and Judit were friendly before Harry went AWOL? or was it a case of Jean suddenly needing a new partner and instantly gravitating to the colleague who Most Resembles A Horse?

Jean-Luc Picards new Best Friend
Picard being asked by someone after TNG what Q is to him.
"He is my..."
And Picard, for a brief moment stopped. At first, he thought 'adversary' would work but then he has to admit that it hds been some time till Q had acted genuinly antagonistic towards him. And he cannot really hold the Trial against the entity since Q had actually wanted to help him. The next word that comes up is 'aquaintance' but they have known each other for a few years now and as far as Picard is aware of Q had saved his life twice now so Picard comes to a rather uncomfortable conclusion.
"...friend."
The word came out faster and held a hint of uncertainty in it.
Picard just really hoped that despite being omniscient or at least potentially enough interested in or obsessed with Picard to watch him often that Q had not heard this.
A flash of light next to him and an arm around his shoulder pressing him towards a slightly taller body however let him know that this hope had been rather futile.
"His Best Friend."
Somehow Q had gotten the capital letters across vocally. The captain didn't even need to turn his head to know Q was grinning.
Apparently a bit intimidated by the new and completely unexpected arrival, the stranger quickly excused himself before PIcard could correct Q or even demote Q back to an acquaintance (although it was unfortunally clear to Jean-Luc that Q would not take such a thing seriously now).
A sigh.
Picard turned towards Q, who in turn looked at Picard.
"You are never going to let me live this down, are you?"
"Oh absolutely never, mon meilleur ami pour toujours."

Moon Phase Series - Full Moon
Summary: Moments in the life of the Moon Knight system.
I don't know how many chapters this will be. Not really connected so if you pick one up randomly you should be fine. Mostly feel good, maybe a little sad, maybe a little comfort. I wanted to explore little moments of them just being.
Warning: None yet.
Word Count: 5677
Part 5: Dive a little into the past. Here we see Marc at the peak of his mercenary work and approaching a break down. Good thing he has two people looking out for him. But what do those two people think of one another?
--
“Where do you go?”
Marc slowly blinked and took in his surroundings. He felt sluggish and hazy. It was night and he was sitting in the sand, staring up at the sky. He could smell gunpowder and smoke somewhere nearby. His hands felt tense and grimy as if he had been crawling through the dirt.
“What?” Marc managed to get out as he looked around and found Jean-Paul standing in front of him.
“When you stare up at the sky.” Jean-Paul tossed his bag down into the sand and sat down heavily next to him. “You get such a far away look. You don’t respond sometimes, too. It must be a nice place. Sometimes I fear you won’t come back.”
Marc closed his eyes tightly for a moment, trying to clear his head. He dug his hands into the sand to ground himself but the feel of it slipping through his fingers and shifting around him was anything but grounding.
“I don’t go anywhere.” Marc sighed and looked around. “Maybe that’s the problem.” He could make out the campsite not too far away. There was a faint light and the dark shape of tents against the night sky. How long had he been out here? The last thing he remembered was…
Marc! He flinched hard and looked around frantically. Someone had jumped out from a side room with a gun aimed at him, finger on the trigger.
“There you go again.” Jean-Paul sighed. “How do you not react to the battle until hours later? Your head was not in this one, Marc. You almost lost that beautiful head of yours.”
Marc ran a hand over his head. “I get through, don’t I?” He was annoyed. His head had not been in it. He had known from the moment he woke up that it would be a bad day and he had still agreed to take point.
“Sometimes I wonder if you want to get through.” Jean-Paul pulled out a cigarette and lighter. “We are all here for one reason or another. Some desperate for money. Some desperate to get away from something. Others desperate for a place to go. We bring our own baggage. It helps us fight. Keeps us alive. Not you, though…”
“I have baggage.” Marc watched him flick on the lighter. The glow moved the world around Jean-Paul from darkness into a brief blinding orange. The flame danced and chased away the dark while still casting shadows across his face.
He is worth protecting.
“I’m sorry.” Marc looked away. “I didn’t mean to put you in danger. I should have said something.”
Jean-Paul gave him a side eye as he let the freshly lit cigarette smolder without taking a puff. “I worry about you, mon-ami. I make my choices. In the end we all look out for ourselves. It is the business we do.” He sighed and took a slow drag, letting the smoke curl around him just like his mustache. “But I would be left with a heavy heart if I had to do this alone.”
Marc sat back in the sand, feeling the heat of the day slowly radiating around him as it released into the darkness. The moon was full and left the world in a strange blue light. “A place where I am loved.”
“Hm?” Jean-Paul looked up at the moon.
“Where I go. I see a room filled with books about the places I’ve been. Someone calls me and I can sit back and tell them everything I’ve seen and done.” Marc shook his head and felt his mind pull. It had been a bad day, but the day was over. He didn’t need to fight it anymore.
“Sounds nice.” Jean-Paul smiled. “Are you going back there?”
“Mm. Might as well.” Marc looked up at the star-filled sky and started to drift. It was safe here. He could rest just a little. It was so hard to stay vigilant all of the time. To stay present. To keep the best of himself so protected.
Rest. We can rest.
Jake turned from the full sky to look at his friend. Marc was starting to have more problems staying focused and present. It would come in waves, but usually not during a battle. Something was different and the thought that Marc was spiraling downward again scared him.
If he wasn’t more vigilant, Marc could get himself shot. Or worse, Steven could wake up. It had been a hard choice to let Steven become dormant. Just knowing he was there had been a help to Marc’s mental state. Now, Jake was doing all he could just to keep them going.
“Mon ami?” Jean-Paul held out his cigarette.
Jake sighed and took it, taking a few slow puffs. “Terrible.” He smiled and held it back out to him. “Did the mission finish up okay?”
“Well enough. No one died and we got paid.” Jean-Paul nodded as he flicked the cigarette out into the darkness. They watched the red tip smolder and slowly blow away into the sands. “It’s getting worse.”
Jake nodded. “I can’t keep him grounded.”
“Maybe he needs a reason to stay.” Jean-Paul raised an eyebrow and smiled.
“That wouldn’t work. It would probably have the opposite effect. I might need to keep him out of the next couple of jobs till he can get his head back in the game.” Jake knew it was risky to let Marc lose so much time, but if Marc couldn’t keep himself safe…
“Let’s give him another shot. Maybe he’s just in a rut. We’re heading to Egypt next. I hear he likes that sort of thing.” Jean-Paul smiled. “I was more of an ancient Greek lover myself, as a child… But Raul said we are going to a dig site. Might be interesting.”
Egypt. He would have to be careful not to let Steven trigger out. Who knew what he might do if he saw the pyramids. “Alright. I hate the thought of you going into a fight alone. If something happened to you I don’t think Marc would handle it well.”
Jean-Paul looked at Jake from the corner of his eye then shook his head with a small laugh. “Just Marc? You wound me, mon amour.”
Jake smiled and shifted in the sand, moving to relax back and rest his head on Jean-Paul’s lap. “Mi corazón, do not push your luck.”
“Someday he’s going to ask me about how he gets out of these situations. You can’t stay hidden from him forever.” Jean-Paul brushed a curl out of Jake’s face.
“He isn’t ready. I doubt he’d see me if I popped up and spoke to him directly.” Jake laughed a little bitterly.
“Marc is notoriously headstrong. Look, after Egypt why don’t we sit down together. He deserves to know who keeps him safe.” Jean-Paul smiled down at him. “Raul says we should get a big pay load from this mission. Maybe we can take a vacation or something.”
Jake sighed then nodded. “Sure. But if he freaks out, I’m going to leave it on you to calm him down. Then we still have to figure out what to do with Steven. Marc needs him… His mental health is just better with him there.”
“I think we can manage that.” Jean-Paul patted him on the chest. “Get some rest, Jake. That was a hell of a hail mary you pulled back there. You deserve it. I’ll stand watch.”
Jake looked up into the night sky. He was exhausted. Watching Marc constantly and forcing a full switch in battle was taking a toll on him. The moon was beautiful tonight. For a moment it made him feel as if he could protect them all. He smiled as he slipped down into a deep sleep.
Jake stared up at the full moon. It seemed so far away now. Nothing like it had been on that last night.
At least the bleeding had stopped. He wasn’t sure if it had stopped because he was dead or if it had something to do with the strange new garb he had found himself wearing.
Anger had fueled him back out into the desert. No, it was rage. Rage for what he had lost. Rage for the betrayal. Rage for Marc’s pain and loss. Rage at himself for failing so terribly to protect everything he held dear.
“Will you carry out my vengeance and protect the travelers of the night?” The shadow at his back whispered softly.
“No.” Jake picked out the tracks in the sand and continued on. “This is my own vengeance. This has nothing to do with you. No one shoots us and walks away.”
The skull would have smiled if it could. “Will you accept my protection then?”
“That I can accept.” Jake clenched his fists tightly.
Inside, he felt a dynamic shift and a wall start to crack. He would deal with it later. He would do anything to keep this protection. He wouldn’t fail again.
