• Joel Miller is at peace with his life.

• He recently has turned 56, Sarah is attending her dream college, Tommy finally moved out to live with his wife, Maria, and Joel’s contracting business has been doing very well which makes him no longer stress about paying bills on time and worrying about being able to afford Sarah’s college.

• A relationship was not something he was trying to look for, he didn’t see why he had to at his age.

• He has already had his fair share of girlfriends, his last and longest lasting one ending in a messy divorce.

• Her name was Diane. She caused Joel nothing but stress and negative energy, and showed clear signs of mental illness.

• The day that she moved out of the house, Sarah came home from college to visit and she expressed to her dad that the house no longer felt suffocating and negative.

• She tried to get him to open up, but Joel was very closed off when it came to his feelings, and he didn’t want to put all of his emotions on his baby girl.

• Even though Joel had everything, he still felt grumpy due to his older age stopping him from being able to bend down for long periods of time at work like he used to, and having to shamefully ask his young colleagues to complete those jobs, and also that very crazy ex-wife of his that burnt him out.

• He thought that was the end to his love life until he met you.

• It was mid July on a hot Texas day, Joel and Tommy decided to meet up at a small 50s themed Diner to catch up.

• While the brothers were chatting and eating their greasy meals, Tommy doing most of the talking, Joel heard a sweet, soft voice from behind him,

“What can I get y’all today?” A soft voice spoke. Joel’s head perched up and he began looking around, the voice dragging him in like a siren calling out to a pirate at sea,

“The specials today are our strawberry cola float and cheese fries” His eyes finally landed on you.

• There stood you, a pretty, young waitress in a white and pink uniform, a smile beaming on your sweaty, glowing face.

• Joel was hypnotized by your beauty.

• He watched as you laughed at something the old couple said, your head thrown back and your hair swaying from side to side in almost slow motion.

• He could feel his face heat up and his mouth no longer chewing the few fries he shoved in seconds ago,

“Earth to Joel?” He broke out of his trance and turned around to look at his little brother,

“Who were you lookin’ at?” Joel shook his head and went back to chewing,

“Nobody. So how’s Maria?” Tommy smirked and squinted his eyes,

“I just said how she was that whole time you were ogling over that young waitress” Tommy laughed,

“I ain’t lookin’ at anybody, alright?” The oldest brother snapped, rubbing his beard. Tommy laughed even louder and leaned back in the booth,

“She is quite a doll, ain’t she? I’d ask her out” Joel scoffed and kicked his brother under the table,

“Calm down, brother. Your married for fuck sake” He responded, giving him a serious look.

Tommy rolled his eyes and became defensive,

“Y-Yeah, I know! I was just sayin’!” He shoved a handle of fries in his mouth to shut himself up.

Joel chuckled sarcastically at his brother,

“Yeah. Whatever ya say”

• Anytime you passed by their booth, Joel would un-knowingly straighten his posture and suck in his stomach and clear his throat, giving you an awkward nod and grin. And it made Tommy laugh every time.

• To put an end to his big brother’s suffering, the younger brother politely called out to you and signalled for a refill on their coffees.

• You happily did so, and to Joel’s surprise, you began sparking up a conversation with him.

• When Joel noticed your finger twirling in your hair and your laugh at his lame jokes, it gave him the confidence to ask you out.

• He felt like a young man, again.

• He swooped you off your feet.

• From then on, you guys fell in love and began a relationship.

• Joel proposed to you only five months later.

• Anybody would’ve told you both that you were moving too fast, and most importantly, that you were both very different people.

• Joel was a closed off, rugged 56 year old man, and you were an expressive, confident, hot-headed 27 year old woman.

• In a way, you balanced each other out perfectly.

• You would push Joel out of his comfort zone to be more honest with his feelings and open up, and Joel would show you how to be more tame and not immediately become defensive or sensitive about things.

• Your wedding was small but fancy, and Sarah had helped you plan it and went shopping with you a lot, using those times as a way to bond with you since she was not sure how to feel at first with her old father marrying a very much younger woman so quickly.

• After spending time with you, she became close to you and knew you were going to love and cherish her Daddy.

• Also, she thought it was impressive that you got him to start showing emotions and slowly open up, talking about his feelings and becoming less stubborn.

• Now, it took a while for Joel to get used to you, as in the way to get used to how you treated life, your friends, your family, and how you were a magnet to hot men.

• He always had a very small family and a quiet life. It was always him, Tommy and Sarah.

• Holidays were never a big deal, always just ordering Chinese food and watching old Christmas movies with Sarah and Tommy.

• So, when you moved in and quit your job to be a stay at home wife (very much Joel’s idea), he was surprised as to how much serious you took holidays,

“Woah, woah! What’s all this?” Joel asked, watching you put up colourful Christmas lights. He looked around and saw little snowmen statues and Christmas themed pillows laid out on the leather sofa,

“It’s Christmas, Joel! It’s the time of the year where you spend time with you family and decorate and dance with your loved ones and cook turkey!” He placed a hand on his hip and lifted an eyebrow,

“Ain’t this a little much? I usually just get a fake tree and decorate it” You rolled your eyes and climb down the small ladder,

“A little much? This isn’t even half of it! When I was a little girl, my mommy and daddy would throw a huge Christmas Eve party that had games and dancing and a bunch of home made food. Then, after twelve a.m, we’d set off fireworks!” Joel rubbed his forehead and flopped down on the couch,

“I usually just order Chinese and watch sappy Christmas movies all night” You sighed and tossed a Santa plushy at him,

“Listen, I quit my job and left my apartment to come and live with you and take care of the house while you are away at work 24/7. The most you can do is include how I celebrate Christmas. Okay?” He nodded and stared down at the Santa in his hands,

“Okay?” You repeated, placing your hands on your hips and giving him that ‘you better verbally say something’ look,

“Yeah, yeah, okay” You grinned and placed a kiss on his cheek,

“Good” You started waking down the hall, the sound of your expensive heels echoing,

“and, we are going out with Sarah tonight and cutting down a real tree!” You yelled out. Joel groaned but couldn’t help crack a smile,

“Yes, m’am”

• When it came to your family and friends, Joel was very surprised and not very ecstatic when you wanted them to visit for a few days during the summer.

• When you both arrived at the airport to pick them up, Joel wanted to hit his head against a brick wall when he saw a group consisting of eleven people walking down the escalators yelling your name excitedly,

“Ya never told me how big your family was” He mumbled into your ear, keeping a fake smile on his face. You turned around and slapped him in the stomach. He grunted and rubbed the spot,

“Quit that complaining! They haven’t seen me in forever” You whispered harshly, plastering a fake smile as well while keeping eye contact with your family,

“I cant wait to spend a week with you, muffin!” Your grandma squealed, pulling you into a tight hug. Joel’s eyes practically bulged out of his head,

“A week?!”

• It was no lie that you were a gorgeous woman. Men always did a double take when you passed by, and women found them selves staring you down with envy.

• So, when you decided to throw a barbecue for the Fourth of July for the neighbourhood, people all showed up, curious as to how Joel’s young, new wife was gonna be able to plan a barbecue on her own.

• Most people were probably gonna show up, the intimidating older women to critic your decorations, food, and your so called ‘inappropriate clothing’ that they had been gossiping about since you moved in with Joel and Sarah,

“Hm, really outdid yourself, y/n. Wasn’t expecting…this” Edith, an older woman who has been living on the same street as Joel for many years, said passive aggressively.

With your head held high and a confident smile on your face, you nodded and rubbed her shoulder,

“Aw! Thanks, Edith. Wish I could say the same for your barbecues” Edith stared at you with her mouth agape.

Maria, who was sipping wine and watching the scene unfold, covered her mouth in hopes to hide the cackle that was about to escape her mouth. She gave you a thumbs up and mouthed “solid”

• The men there, married or not, found any chance to try and talk to you, surrounding you like you were a celebrity,

“Beautiful dress, y/n” Johnny, a friend of Tommy’s said, slyly rubbing a hand on your waist. You smiled and stepped back to show it off to everyone, oblivious to the men’s flirting,

“Thanks! Joel bought me it!” The men grumbled, and Johnny pursed his lips,

“Right, your with Joel”

• It didn’t stop at Tommy and Maria’s son’s 5th birthday.

• Kids were screaming and running around, which meant that there were their fathers around as well.

• The bouncy house was empty, and you were two glasses deep into wine, so you took your heels off and crawled in to jump around while the kids were out to go have lunch.

• The fathers gathered around the bouncy house and were watching you with smirks, and Joel came running to push past the men to see who they were watching,

“Jesus Christ” Joel grumbled, watching as you jumped around, your revealing dress showing your “greatest assets” bouncing up and down,

“Joel, look! I’m jumping so high!” You screeched, a big smile on your face, innocent to the men who were undressing you with their eyes,

“Yeah, I see that! Now get out” He looked around and saw all the men with their smug, smirking faces,

“Really, guys?! Your family men. Come on, now. Walk away!” Joel yelled, shaking his head and pointing them to the snack table. The men all scoffed and grumbled, reluctantly turning away from the sight of you.

• Tommy was no better.

• He was so obvious with his flirting, it made Maria and Joel side eye each other every time,

“Uncle Tommy and Maria are here!” Sarah called from the front door. You squealed in happiness, taking the turkey out from the stove with a little dance. Joel chuckled and placed a kiss on your cheek,

“We saw them this morning at the grocery store, sweetheart” You rolled your eyes and playfully slapped his shoulder,

“So? It was only for a couple of minutes! C’mon, let’s go say hi”

You gave Maria a hug and kiss on the cheek, as well as her adorable son. You passed to Tommy and did the same, and said,

“Two times today, huh?” You joked, referring to the earlier surprised meet up at the store. Tommy raised an eyebrow and confusingly grinned,

“Oh, okay!” He went to give you another hug and kiss on the cheek, but you had already turned around to go back to the kitchen, and Maria grabbed his arm and yanked him back,

“She meant we saw them two times today, Tommy” she warned, glaring at him.

• Yeah, you were a lot.

• But, Joel still loves you.

• He loves your crazy big family, your revealing outfits, your confidence, your expressiveness, your need to help and care for everyone around you, and how amazing you were with his baby girl, Sarah, providing her with the motherly love she was missing out on.

• The thing he loved the most was how you were with him.

• You were changing him in a good way, You were teaching him to open up, to do things out of his comfort zone, not always make everything be his way or the highway, and you put him in his place and called him out when necessary.

• You take care of him, he takes care of you.

• Joel sat on his front porch, plucking away at his guitar, occasionally sipping his beer and watching the sunset,

“It can’t get any better than this” He said to himself in his head, sighing contently, strumming away at his six-string,

“Joel, baby! Come join me upstairs! I’m wearing your favourite matching set…” You called from the open window, a seductive and playful tone in your voice.

Joel grinned then smirked, running a hand across his greying beard,

“It definitely can get better this”

jungwon 🛍️ - whenever you’re sick, suddenly your pantry is stocked and your place is practically spotless. jungwon doesn’t tell you he does this, and if you thank him he’ll just say it was the cleaning fairy. he doesn’t want you to stress or worry about your environment when you’re trying to get better.

heeseung 🎉 - when you both are forced to go out he will stay by your side and keep a pinky locked with yours. granted he doesn’t want to be there either. but he knows you definitely don’t, and you’re not used to it. so he refuses to break pinky’s with you when you’re not sitting down. even then he will keep a hand on your thigh or shoulder.

jay 🎀 - you mentioned the sidewalk rule and listening when no one else is, i immediately thought of jay. he is a very cliche man, although a little blunt, he is a cliche at heart. he holds your hand, softly guides you through crowds, the sidewalk rule is his life. listening to you and your needs is his life.

jake 🎆 - jake will match with you in subtle ways. so matching bracelets, hats. and he always leaves them in specific places and when he notices you’re wearing one of the things he accidentally bought two of, he’ll be like “what a funny coincidence haha.” like for example if you guys are at a serious event. your outfit whatever color it is will be his accent color in his suit.

sunghoon 🎡 - when you guys come home from an event or date night and your feet hurt, he will pick you up and carry you to the car. if there’s a puddle he will wordlessly lift you over it. he doesn’t want your feet or any part of your outfit to get wet.

sunoo 🍬 - “you said you needed this last week so here.” no matter what it is, sunoo will get it for you, then bring it up nonchalantly. like one time you’d mentioned you needed a new winter coat and came home to a box that had a new, expensive (not that it mattered), coat with “sunoo🖤” engraved ever so tiny on the cuff of the sleeve.

riki 🍡 - will never let you win at anything. that might sound contradictory to the ask. but riki would never belittle you. yeah, he’ll give you tips if you’ve never played that game and he will help you succeed. but he’ll never just let you win, that’s boring and belittling towards you. he knows you can win on your own.

Y/N had always stood out in ENHYPEN, not just because of her talent, but because of her petite figure that contrasted with the tall and lean stature of the boys. They couldn't resist teasing her about it, and she took it in stride, giving as good as she got.

As they prepared for a variety show appearance, the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement. The group was known for their close-knit bond, and today was no exception. But Jay had a secret that he couldn't keep hidden any longer.

In the green room, Y/N was going over her lines, trying to stay focused despite the playful banter from the others.

"Y/N, do you need a booster seat?" Heeseung teased with a grin, earning a playful swat from her.

"Very funny, Heeseung. You guys are just too tall," she retorted, sticking her tongue out.

Jay, standing nearby, couldn't help but smile at her feisty spirit. He leaned in closer, whispering into her ear, "I think your height is perfect just the way it is."

She blushed but gave him a sly smile, "Oh, really? And why's that?"

He leaned in even closer, brushing his lips against her earlobe. "Because it makes it easier for me to do this."

His warm breath sent a shiver down her spine as he gently kissed her earlobe, a barely-there touch but enough to make her heart race.

As the cameras rolled, Jay couldn't resist sneaking in touches that appeared casual but held a hidden intensity. During a break, he playfully stole her snack, and as she reached out to grab it back, their fingers brushed, sending a shiver down her spine.

During the show's game segment, they were paired up, and Jay seized the opportunity to be even more playful. The host had announced a challenge that required them to work together closely, and Jay's eyes sparkled mischievously as he glanced at Y/N.

With the game underway, he stood behind her, his chest barely brushing against her back. Their mission involved coordinating their movements, and Jay made sure to be in sync with Y/N. His hands would subtly graze her waist, sending a jolt of electricity through her.

When they had to share a microphone, he'd lean in close, their cheeks almost touching as they laughed together. The tension between them was palpable, their playful banter laced with a hidden desire.

The other members noticed the subtle changes in Jay's behavior but said nothing, knowing the truth that they kept hidden from the public eye. Sunghoon would give them knowing glances, and Sunoo would sometimes tease, but they all respected their privacy.

After the filming, the group huddled backstage, and Y/N couldn't help but blush at Jay's playful antics. "You were quite touchy today," she commented with a teasing smile.

Jay winked at her, his voice low, "I can't help it when you're standing so close."

Sunghoon chimed in, "Yeah, Jay, you were practically glued to her."

Jay laughed it off, but his eyes never left Y/N. "Can't blame me for wanting to be close to someone as amazing as her."

The rest of ENHYPEN exchanged knowing glances, aware of the secret they shared. As fans speculated about their interactions on the show, Y/N and Jay continued their secret romance, finding joy in the stolen moments and shared laughter that came with being together, even if it was out of the public eye.

jake’s love for you felt like a summer.

a warm breeze, wrapping around your body with this feeling of safety and love.

how funny that you met him during winter, right?

you still remember how the snowball hit your cheek, attacking your skin with an uncomfortable coldness.

"oh my god! i’m so sorry! i was aiming for my friend!"

you heard two boys run up to you. one of theirs, somehow warm hands helped you get the snow off your face. you looked at him, and god, how annoying it was that he was so adorable.

you looked pissed enough for him to apologise five more times. your day was awful; you were trying to just move on, go home and rest, wrap yourself in a blanket, sip hot chocolate, and forget everything that happened today. the boy wasn’t helping; he was still trying to talk to you, with absolute nonsense leaving his mouth.

"listen, what he’s trying to say is that he wants to go out with you." you heard another voice and looked away from jake’s face. you saw how his arm was wrapped around jake’s neck, almost making his scarf fall.

"well.. i mean- yeah. i’m really sorry about this; if you don’t mind, we could go grab some hot chocolate." he said, looking at you with these pleading eyes. "i’ll pay."

and you were supposed to say no? to these eyes? this face? this free hot choco? you agreed.

jake led you to a really nice cafe; it was so cosy, and what’s most important, it was warm inside. jake, as promised, ordered two hot chocolates and came back to your table.

"so.. what’s your name?"

and this is how your relationship started. jake was so fun to be around; you were actually surprised because he seemed really awkward at first. he quickly introduced you to his friends, and it was even more surprising how well you got along with them.

it was now spring, and jake invited you to a picnic. the rest of the guys were already there when you arrived. as the weather got warmer, you only had a long-sleeve shirt on, not really realising that you'd sit there for a long time because the sun was already setting. no one really realised how cold you were until your whole body was shaking.

"oh, y/n!" jake quickly stood up, confusing the rest of the group. he took off his hoodie and quickly put it over your head, helping you put it on.

that was the exact moment when the spark between you two was created.

summer came quickly; it was your first summer with jake. first, but probably the most memorable. yet again, you were invited by him. this time to join the group on a little trip. it was only a weekend in a city near the sea, but you quickly agreed.

as you arrived, jake didn’t even let you unpack, not even put your bags in the room assigned to you by jay. he grabbed your hand, just like an excited puppy, and pulled you outside.

"let’s go see the sea, y/n!"

he didn’t let you answer, as he had already pulled you closer, starting to walk away from the house.

oh how bad the timing was; five minutes after you arrived, it started pouring rain. the clouds formed quickly, leaving you guys no option but to run home.

even though you were soaked wet, jake still made sure you had fun. he danced with you in the rain, steadily holding your hands when you both spun around. he made you jump in the little puddles with him, your shoes covered with mud.

you both came home wet, dirty, but happy. everyone was confused, and some of them were even concerned when they saw you.

after these moments with you, jake was sure he was in love with you. poor little you; you were still confused about your feelings, slightly insecure, and worried because how could someone like jake could love you?

the difference between you both was that he was loud, funny, and nice to have around, and you were quiet; some would say that you were even boring, always reading something or having your headphones on, avoiding conversations.

but jake saw another side of you, and he absolutely loved it. he loved you.

the second summer with jake was even better. he confessed to you that when you both went to an amusement park, it felt like a movie scene.

during the ride on the ferris wheel, he looked nervous. you felt his awkwardness and anxiety, not being able to focus on the view. you put your phone away, taking a break from taking pictures, and looked at jake.

"everything okay?"

"we need to talk- i mean i need to talk to you."

you didn’t respond, as he didn’t even allow you to. one of the things jake really often did was talk a lot when he was nervous.

"i like you. more than i should. i don’t want to be only friends with you, y/n."

you looked at him shocked. since you realised that you have feelings for jake, the feeling of insecurity was still deep inside you. you just couldn’t believe what he said.

"i totally understand if you don’t like me back, if you don’t want to be friends anymo-"

you cut him off by grabbing jake’s cheeks and pulling him closer. your lips gently press on his. the kiss was so sweet and soft, almost innocent. as you pulled away, jake had the biggest smile on his face. this time he was the one to grab your cheeks and place another kiss, but this time on your forehead.

his hands quickly moved; now his pinky was interlocking with yours.

"will you be mine? officially?"

"i’ll have to think about it."

when you thought of summer, you remembered the sweltering heatwaves, the stunning views, and the endless days. But you also recalled the overpowering love of your boyfriend that was hotter than the sun and more enchanting than the views. You dreamed that this relationship would last longer than the long summer days.

It’s cliché really, people tell you being best friends with the opposite gender never works out, that one of you will fall for the other. And here he was a big fucking cliché, sat across from his best friend, watching her tell a story of her falling down the stairs among other bad things, that had happened to her leading up to their hang out, or maybe she’s just clumsy, he thought to himself. He couldn’t help but watch her with soft eyes, and an even softer smile.

“...it’s like the whole universe is against me today, first the stairs, then I can’t do my winged eyeliner right, no milk for coffee, I didn’t have breakfast, and then some idiots have a slow reaction time and don’t know how to drive? Tell me I’m not going insane, right?” she said all in one breath and she looked at him with an angry pout

He couldn’t help but laugh and reach across the table to pinch her cheek before her hand swatted him away and gave him a not so threatening glare “no, you’re not princess. Although….I do wish I was there to witness you fall down the stairs” he smirked

“Yeah yeah, my ass still hurts, pretty sure it’s gonna bruise tomorrow” she huffed as she took a sip of her coffee

He nodded in understanding having been in her position before, but as he sat across from her, admiring her, his nerves shot through, suddenly hyper aware of no time is better than the present to get things over and done with. He reached into his pocket and slid a heart shaped box towards her and tapped on it to get her attention. She glanced down at the box, then back up at him with her head tilted to the side, “what’s this? My birthday is 3 months away Jay.”

“I know, but can’t I just give my best friend a little present just for no reason? Go on, open it princess” he said softly

She glanced at him with a soft smile and opened the heart shaped box carefully, and gasped upon seeing a heart shaped necklace. Delicately she took out the heart shaped necklace and gazed at it in awe. He didn’t know he was holding his breath and was daydreaming before registering that she had asked him something.

“Huh? Sorry, what did you ask again?”

“I said it’s beautiful Jay, can you help me put it on? I wanna wear it now and show it off.” she whispered, afraid to break the moment they were currently in. She watched as he got up from his seat across from her, and made his way behind her. Sweeping her hair to one side, she held her breath as she felt his feather like touch along her neck, before carefully clasping the necklace around her neck with such carefulness. His touch lingered there, as he slowly bent down to place a kiss to her neck and shoulder, unaware that both of their hearts were beating very fast.

“There, looks even more beautiful on you, princess” so yeah, maybe people were right, it’s a big fucking cliché to fall in love with your best friend, but maybe that’s what both of them wanted to be. A big cliché, who’s destined to fall for their best friend, whether they give cute presents in heart shaped boxes or that they’re there to listen to you ramble on about how the universe is out to get you.

i got the knight of swords for him, just like i did for jay, meaning he'll be very direct and straightforward in expressing his distate. he won't hide it. he can get extremely stern, very cut-throat and scary. though he could raise his voice sometimes, i don't see him screaming a lot. but, he'll definitely intimidate whoever had the guts to go to you by his gaze alone, and be very clear on how he'll make that person's life hell if they ever dare to approach you again. or, let you know he's okay with giving you your space, but don't you ever dare deceive him. "you exactly know i hate when you go out with that annoying guy. stop playing with me. do you think i'm stupid?" kinda thing.

Putting the makeup down she was holding in her hands on the vanity, Ariel pulled Jayla from her stool and drags her to the mirror in her bedroom.

“First, I just want to say that you look beautiful. Second, I’ve met Cameron when he would come over to work on that project and he had this silly love sick look on his face every time you spoke.”

“Really?” Jayla questioned not sure if she believed her or not

“Yeah, I thought I was going to have to give him a bib just in case he started drooling!” Ariel and Jayla laughed at the thought of that.

“But, seriously you don’t have anything to worry about. You have a pure and kind heart. Cameron would be an idiot to not like you. This is going to be a night to remember, don’t forget to have fun!”

Jayla’s shoulders dropped as she relaxed. Talking to her mom always made her feel better. Turning around she gave Ariel a loving hug, pulling away when she heard the doorbell.

“Ma, please hurry and get the door, you know how dad and Uncle Urb is!” Jayla said wide eyed.

“I got you, I’ll make sure they don’t scare him away!” She said as she quickly left the room.

Jack and Urban opened the door and looked at the nervous young teen up and down. Both could definitely tell he was a jock in the school.

“Hello, Mr. Harlow.” The young man squeaked out Jack couldn’t help but smile to himself, happy to know that he intimated the teen.

Cameron stood up straighter and held out his hand for Jack to shake. Jack stood there with his arms crossed, just to make him sweat a bit. Urban did the same, giving the teen a hard stare.

The teen awkwardly put his arm back to his side, and bounced on his toes.

“And you better answer correctly.” Urban added

Cameron rubbed the back of his neck nervously as he spoke.”Well, we’ve only been talking for a couple months but Jay…”

He was cut off by Urban, “Her name is Jayla.”

Cameron quickly nodded his head before continuing “Sorry, sir. Jayla is very smart, driven, and passionate. She’s the girl I look forward to talking and hanging out with during lunch and free periods…—“

Jack and Urban looked at each other as Cameron continued to ramble with a spark in his eye. They came with a silent agreement that Cameron was a good kid.

“Hey hey! You can stop with your ramblings. I get it.” Jack said with a playful eye roll and a sigh.”

He reached out his hand for Cameron to shake. He tightened his grip on the teen's hand when he tried to pull away. Cameron winced at the tight grip.

“Just don’t hurt her okay?” Jack said with a big almost evil smile

Just as Cameron was about to reply, Ariel came squeezing past Jack and Urban. “Move it!”

They both stepped back.

“Nice to see you again, Cameron”

“Wait, you’ve met him before?!” Jack said from behind her

“Shut up, Jackman.” Ariel said with a smile, not even bothering to turn around.

She guided Cameron through the house, ignoring the looks from Jack and Urban. “Don’t let them scare you, they’re all bark no bite.”

“HEY!”

“Jayla will be down in just a minute.” Just as she spoke, she saw that sparkle come back to Cameron’s eyes, his mouth wide open this time, she knew Jayla was at the top of the steps.

She looked gorgeous with her curls pinned up, she wore a beautiful teal evening gown that had butterflies all over it. It reminded Jack so much of her butterfly themed birthday party from when she was younger.

Cameron reached his hand out for Jayla to grasp on to as she made it to the bottom of the staircase. “Wow, I don’t know what to say, you look amazing.”

Jayla’s face warmed as he took a step back to take her in. “Thank you, Cam. You look very handsome.” Cameron slid on a matching butterfly corsage on her wrist while Jayla pinned the butterfly boutonnière to his jacket.

They turned back towards the parents when they heard sniffling from behind them. Jack, Ariel and Urban were all cuddled up in a hug watching the teens interact with tears in all their eyes.

Jayla immediately rolled her eyes. “Guys, stop that please.” Before giving Cameron an apologetic smile.

“Sorry, you know I have allergies” Urban spoke first

“Yeah, uh you know I’m always getting something in my bad eye.” Jack added.

Ariel fanned her face to try to get rid of the tears. “C’mon, pose nice for us so we can get some photos.”

Jayla and Cameron smiled as Urban began taking pictures of them together. The photos ended up taking longer because Ariel wanted to take some using her phone. 20 minutes later Jayla was begging them to let her leave.

“Ok, ok I’m done I promise. You two go have fun! Call me if you need anything!” Ariel said as she walked the teens out.

“Cameron, I want her home by 10:30, no later!”

“DAD!”

Ariel hit her husband on the chest. “Ignore him, sweetie! Be home by 1AM!” She said with a wave

“1AM are you crazy?!”

“Shut up, and get in the house Jackman!”

a/n - hnngghhh i wasn't going to post a chapter every day because i wanted to have a backlog of chapters just in case but i love seeing y'all react to alaysh and i have 0 self control so... chapter 5 baybeee

Y/N was halfway through her 8-hour shift by the time she managed to stop for a break to check her phone again without Jay spotting her and dragging her back out to the front of the diner. Anxiety had been eating her up, wondering if Kyle had messaged her back and how he had reacted to it. She wasn’t sure if she was relieved or more nervous when she saw that she had a notification from him. Trying not to overthink it more than she already had been, which was nearly impossible as she had greatly overthought it, she opened the message.

kyle 📗 : I completely get it. I still grab Stan’s hand to cross the road because I used to do that for my little brother 😅

Just like that, all of Y/N’s nerves that had been building up for 4 hours dissipated in an instant. Kyle didn’t think she was a complete weirdo. Or, at least, he didn’t openly say it to her, which was good enough. Most people thought of her as a little weird anyway.

The rest of Y/N’s shift seemed to pass by a lot faster than the first half, aside from one incident with a very disgruntled man who had to eventually be kicked out by Doris.

“I’ll finish cleaning that, hun,” Doris grabbed the cloth from Y/N’s hands and pointed over at the window. “Your boyfriend is outside waiting for you. Has been for five minutes.” Y/N’s head perked up as she saw Kyle’s car.

“He’s not my-” She started to protest, but Doris waved her hands dismissively.

“Yeah, yeah!” She scoffed, gently pushing Y/N towards the breakroom so she could grab her bag. “Jay packed up two lots of food for you earlier. Don’t forget to grab it on your way out.”

“How did you know he’d be picking me up?” Y/N asked once she had grabbed her bag and the two take-out boxes full of fries.

“You’ve had that dopey smile on your face all evening,” Doris shook her head as though it were perfectly obvious. “Don’t keep him waiting then.” She quite literally pushed Y/N out of the door, locking it behind her so she couldn’t get back in and complain about it. With a roll of her eyes, she made her way over to where Kyle was leaning against his car, looking at his phone.

“Hey, stranger,” She laughed, catching his attention. He looked up and smiled as he saw her. The flickering light that barely illuminated the car park caused his red hair to almost glow. “Long time no see!”

“You’ve changed so much, I almost didn’t recognise you!” Kyle played along with the joke, opening the door for Y/N. She was warmed by the polite action.

“Ah, yes,” She chuckled once he’d gotten into the driver’s seat. “That would be the grease, sweat, and humidity causing my hair to defy gravity.”

“Ha! Mine doesn’t need any of that!” Kyle gestured at his curly red hair, running a hand through it to make it stick up. Y/N watched as it stuck in the same position when he moved his hand away. “What have you got?” He nodded over at the two boxes of take-out in her hands while trying to smooth his hair back into a presentable shape.

“What have we got?” She corrected, passing him one of the boxes. “Probably just fries. Nowhere near as good as the ones from the place Kenny works, but they hit the spot after being on your feet for 8 hours,” She opened her box to confirm that, yes, it was just full of fries. “You don’t have to eat them if you don’t want them. Doris insisted on me bringing them for you.”

“And here I was thinking you had done it out of the kindness of your heart,” Kyle teased, his smile betraying his seriousness. “I’m actually starving. I forgot to stop to eat after taking Stan and Wendy home. I just shut myself in my room all evening so they couldn’t complain to me about how hungover they were and ask me to do things for them.”

“Cheers!” Y/N held up one of the fries, Kyle did the same, and they tapped them together, eating them in unison.

“Oh… wow…” He looked down at the box of fries, eating a couple more. “These are…”

“Terrible, right?” She laughed, eating her own at an alarming rate.

“Yeah… Why can’t I stop eating them?”

“Because they are the best worst fries you’ll ever have!”

“So, how was work?” Kyle asked.

“It was pretty average,” Y/N shrugged. “Except for this one asshole of a customer.”

“What happened?”

“Okay, so,” She shuffled to get herself comfortable before she started giving the rundown of the situation. “I asked him what he wanted, and he said ‘egg’. That’s it, nothing else, just ‘egg’. So I was like, cool, sure, how do you want your egg? And he said ‘normal’.”

“What the hell does that mean?”

“Exactly! So obviously, I asked him what he meant by that, and he said ‘normal egg’ again, and I was trying to explain to him that just repeating the words wouldn’t make me understand them, but he kept on insisting that he just wanted ‘normal egg with absolutely nothing else’.”

“So what did you do?”

“I went to the kitchen and got an uncooked egg and just placed it in front of him.”

“He lost it! Doris wanted to kick him out there and then, but I couldn’t let him leave without knowing what the fuck ‘normal egg’ was to him. I was asking him to describe it, and he just kept on repeating that he wanted ‘normal egg’ until, eventually, he pointed at another guy’s plate and said that, obviously, that’s what he meant. Guess what he wanted.”

“Oh no… what did he want?”

“An omelette! You know, that thing where the egg is just one part of it, and you add a bunch of other shit to it? And he looked at me like I was stupid because I didn’t understand that a ‘normal egg with absolutely nothing else’ clearly meant that he wanted an omelette with ham, chicken, cheese, and pepper!”

“Did he get his omelette in the end?” Kyle was laughing as the story went on, seeming to be genuinely interested in it. It made a nice change from when Bebe would pretend to listen to Y/N’s work stories so she could have a turn talking about what she did in her day.

“Made him wait 20 minutes thinking he’ll get his stupid ‘normal egg’ until Doris kicked him out,” Y/N snorted at the memory of how furious the man looked, announcing he would be leaving a terrible review of the place. “I’m just glad he didn’t wait to jump me outside after my shift.”

“Has that ever happened?” Kyle’s smile dropped in a split second, suddenly incredibly concerned. “Has someone tried to attack you after work?”

“Once!” She admitted. “But it was just some scrawny drunk asshole who could barely stand, let alone throw a punch. He fell over after one swing, and I kicked him in the balls for good measure.”

“Send me your work schedule,” He requested, tapping his phone, which had been resting on the dashboard.

“Why?” Y/N laughed softly. “What are you going to do? Are you gonna escort me to and from work each shift to make sure I stay out of trouble?”

“Yes,” She had been joking, but Kyle seemed very serious.

“It’s not a big deal, really,” She sighed. “I’ve been working this job since I moved here. Incidents like that are few and far between.”

“If you won’t tell me, I’ll just ask Bebe and Wendy for it,” He shrugged. “You shouldn’t have to risk being jumped by a pissed-off customer while walking home late at night.” Y/N could sense that she wasn’t going to win this fight.

“Yes, sir,” She sighed dramatically, not noticing how red Kyle’s face turned at the title. She patted his thigh. “Come on, are you gonna take me home, or were you planning on sitting in your car together all night?”

Sitting in her lecture with nothing but pure fury in her eyes, Y/N pulled her phone out and opened up her messages.

y/n 💕 : those chips have a label with my name on it

y/n 💕 : this is an english class and you can’t even read

Clyde turned his head to look at Y/N as she sat behind him in the lecture. She flipped him the middle finger, and he rolled his eyes. Over the two and a half weeks that Clyde had been living in the apartment, the two had developed a relationship akin to siblings, where they would bicker one second, and then it was like everything was fine, and they had never argued the next. Y/N had even surprised herself by willingly spending time with him on multiple occasions when she didn’t have to.

“Are we getting food after this?” Y/N bent down to ask him as their lecture finished and the other students started to pack up.

“You won’t take the chips because my hands have touched them, but you still expect me to drive you around?” Clyde scoffed at her, leaning back in his seat so his head rested against the back of the desk Y/N had been working on. “Don’t you have a shift at the diner?”

“Shitttt,” She groaned, closing her eyes in disappointment. “Can you drop me off at home, please? I don’t have my uniform.”

“Sorry, babe, I’ve got plans with Craig, Tweek, and Tolkien,” He shrugged, giving her a half-hearted empathetic smile. Y/N had gotten to know the other people from South Park during Clyde’s stay at the apartment. She got along with them decently well, but no one compared to how close she had become with Kyle. They studied together almost every day, and he had insisted on following through with his plans to take her to and from work on days when she didn’t have any other transport so she wouldn’t have to walk it.

“Gross, never call me babe again.”

“But Bebe calls you babe?”

“I like Bebe.”

“Wow, I’m definitely not giving you a ride now.”

“You weren’t going to anyway, dickwad!” Y/N was distracted when her phone buzzed in her pocket. Clyde took this as an opportunity to escape while she wasn’t looking, but she threw up another middle finger as she caught him slinking away from the corner of her eye.

kyle 📗 : Do you need a ride today?

y/n 💕 : your timing is perfect as always! 🥰

y/n 💕 : yes please! I completely forgot I had work today so I need to grab my uniform from home if thats okay with you?

kyle 📗 : Of course 😊

kyle 📗 : Be there in two minutes, I’m just around the corner.

True to his word, Kyle was there within two minutes, almost exactly on the dot. Y/N felt guilty about how much he had been driving her around in the two and a half weeks that they had known one another, but he was always the one to offer.

“Before I forget, your apron is in the trunk,” Kyle gestured behind him while Y/N climbed into the passenger’s seat. “You left it in here the other day. I managed to get that one stain out.”

“You cleaned it for me?” She grinned at him, securing her seatbelt. “That stain has been there for a month. How did you get it out?” The stain had come from a customer knocking a bottle of ketchup over and accidentally dropping their bag on it; it splattered everywhere. Jay had to get it off the ceiling. She didn’t know what was in the ketchup, but it looked like watered-down blood splattered on her apron after scrubbing it for an hour straight.

“My mom used to make me help with the washing whenever I was in trouble,” He chuckled a little uncomfortably. “I was in trouble a lot, so I got really good at it.”

“Wow! What a little rebel! Who knew?” She teased, drumming her fingers against the dashboard as Kyle started driving.

“Yeah, well, the guys would always drag me into their schemes. Someone had to be the voice of reason.”

“You’ll have to teach me your cleaning secrets. I have some shirts with some pesky stains that I haven’t been able to get out with anything.”

“Bring them to me, and I’ll sort them,” Kyle smiled as he caught a glimpse of Y/N’s grin out of the corner of his eye. It had been so easy to grow attached to her. He couldn’t remember what he did all day without her.

Your mouth falls half open struck by his barefaced beauty, and your gaze can’t help but follow at the uncommon sight of his forehead peeking through clearly admist his attractive black, wet bangs.

It was a rare sight considering how jungwon was used to wearing his hair down most of the time. Whenever his forehead did show now, you couldn’t help but blush at how good and mature he looked.

Eyeing him mindlessly for a few minutes, you trace how he obliviously sits in the corner of his bed, drying his head with the towel, pushing his bangs upwards more in the process, revealing more of his glassy skin.

Jungwon was beautiful. To put it simply, he was handsome and at the same time, really cute. A man to set your heart on fire and a boy to make it melt simultaneously. And now that you were staring at his resting face with blind admiration, you become suddenly overcome by the urge to go to him and kiss his forehead out of your overwhelming love for him. :’)

You make your way towards him, catching his innocent attention and quickly position yourself in his lap with a sheepish smile. After a minute or two, your fight comes to an end when-

You both fall down on the bed, ✨you on top of him and him under you, both your eyes locking romantically in the process. The material falls off his angel face and you see his rosy cheeks and big sparkly eyes that were filled with love and shyness.

So what do you do now?😏😉

You kiss his forehead another time, catching him off guard YET AGAIN.

But this time, you aren’t going untouched ahem ahem.🤭

Cause jungwon grabs you by the waist in a flash and pulls you close to him, draping his arms securely around you. With one hand, he tucks your loose hair strand beneath your ear and brushes your hot cheek with the back of his finger.

jay had just finished setting up the beach chairs, letting out a groan as he plopped down into one next to you. he turned to look at you, admiring the view of not only the waves crashing against the shore but of course, you. after a while, 4 boys, including jay had ran off somewhere on the beach and ni-ki and jungwon had stayed closer to you guys, building shapes in the sand. after a while, the rest scattered back to you, asking if you had any food. “ jay, didn’t you pack any?” you asked him, standing up from your chair while rummaging through the bags you both brought. “ yeah, there are some snacks in there” he said, running his hand through his hand before dusting off any excess sand from his hands. “ fruit!!” sunoo exclaimed, rushing up to you and in the process, kicking some sand onto you. “ ah sorry noona, i didn’t mean to!” he says, trying to brush the sand off your crossed legs and arms. “ it’s alright sunoo, don’t worry. come, just take some food each and start eating.” you said, placing a hand on sunoo’s back, giving him a comforting smile. he returned the smile and placed some food on his plate. you were watching then scramble to put food before jay snatched you away with a large pout. “ sunoo was totally flirting with you!”

“ this place is so cute..” you mumbled, smiling while looking around at the cafe. you haven’t been to this cafe before so to say that you were shocked with its cosy scenery is an understatement. sunghoon seemed to be just as impressed as you, he just hid it better. you could tell though. the way his eyes sparkled when he looked around and the faint curl on the corner of his lips. after a few short minutes of talking, you were interrupted by a voice, asking if the order he was holding was yours. sunghoon answered and the guy placed the drinks and a small muffin down for the both of you. however, his eyes remained on you while he was putting the drinks, causing him to spill your one by accident, staining part of your dress. you let out a small yelp from the coldness seeping through the cloth, causing the man to rapidly apologise. you waved it off and stood up to go and grab some napkins. after the whole mishap, you had made your way back to the table only to see that he had already gone off. when you had finally settled down, you looked over the table at sunghoon who had a clearly visible frown on his face. reaching over, you pressed down on is eyebrows in attempt to make his frown go away. it slightly faltered.. that was until he say the waiter come over and place down a new one of your drink and a large muffin. “ on the house” he said before walking away. sunghoon rolled his eye and stood up, grabbing your hand and walking out. “ we should've eaten at home. jay’s food is better. “

sunoo groaned, letting his head fall harshly onto the school desk. the small thud made you frown, making you turn your head to see what he it, and only when you saw his head on the table, did your expression soften. rubbing your hand up and down his back, you leaned down to place a small kiss on his cheek. he instantly shot his head u and stared at you with hearts in his eyes. “ i knew that would work” you said with a small smile, chuckling before ruffling his hair, earning a whine from him. the bell for the end of school rang out and everybody rushed out quickly, leaving you, sunoo and another boy alone in the class. lifting your hand off his back, you started packing your work up and helping sunoo after. sunoo stood up, entangling his hand with yours before stumbling towards the door. “y/n! hold on” the guy from in class said, rushing to make his way over to you and sunoo. “ are you busy? would you we able to go out for boba?” he asked you with a sheepish smlle. you turned to look at sunoo who didnt have a single look other than sass on his face. you brushed it off, nodding you head at him. “ yeah, im free. lets go?” you said. “ no, she’s busy.” sunoo said, glaring at him and pulling you towards him before walking away with you.

jungwon finished laying down the picnic mat as you sat down almost instantly. the seemingly dragged on for a long while and you and jungwon decided it would be nice to set up a picnic mat and watch the sunset together. butttt, the closest place you could go was a dog park. not that either of you were complaining! it just wasn’t the most practical place to have a romantic picnic.. you discarded your thoughts and stared at the pretty boy infront of you with a light pink hue across your cheeks. almost instantly, a large pressure was felt on your back, pushing you forward onto the mat. letting out a surprised yelp, you soon figured out that a dog was all over you. you tried to get it away while giggling and playing around with the dog. a figure. could be seen in the distance, running towards you and your boyfriend. “ byeol!! come here” he yelled towards the dog, letting out a huff of relief when he realised you weren’t angry. “ i’m so sorry about that..” he muttered to you, not even glancing at jungwon. you shook it off and nodded with a small smile. “ my dog must’ve taken a liking to you.” he said, running his hands through his hand while chuckling. “ i would too if i was a dog” jungwon spoke, trying to sounds intimidating but failing terrifically. the guy apologised and bowed once again before laughing awkwardly and walking away. way to go jungwon!

“ shhh ni-ki! we’re in public!” you giggled, clinging onto his hand before dragging him to a claw machine. the large arcade was brightly lighted by neon lights in all colours, reflecting off every surface. ni-ki had dragged you to an arcade because he felt as if school work had been overwhelming then both of you and decided to take a break. he was always so considerate with how you were feeling, and if you ever did feel sad, he would always make you forget about whatever it was in an instant. he placed a coin into the large machine and moved the claw around, aiming for a huge teddy. it would’ve had to be the same size as a 6 year old child. he stopped moving and took his hands off the joystick before getting a 360 view around the whole machine before pressing the release button. to your surprise, ( or not ) the claw picked up the bear and dropped it in the slot. a small clapping could be heard from behind you. knowing it wasn’t ni-ki as he was besides you, you turned around and met eyes with an undeniably handsome boy. he stopped clapping and bowed before congratulating you. “ i’ve gotten a teddy too! i was saving it for the prettiest girl i saw here so, here” he explained, handing to you while bowing. your bowed back while ni-ki watched from behind you with a small scoff. you turned to look at your boyfriend with a bright smile, only to be met by a small smile on his lips. he couldn’t deny, he loved your smile so he didn��t mind if somebody else make you happy.
