Okay but
Had Luke been alive, I feel like he and Julie would just accidentally on purpose fall into a relationship, kinda like—
"I'm too nervous to ask Willie out," Alex groaned, "I can't do it. I really can't. I feel like I'm dying, man."
"C'mon," Luke drawled, slapping his shoulder, "it's really easy. You just gotta go for it. See—" he nodded at Julie walking with Flynn at the other side of the quad and yelled: "—Jules! Pancakes paid by whoever gets the lowest grade with Harrison!"
A sweet smile grew on Julie's lips as she nodded, jutting her pinky finger in the air in lieu of a promise. Luke mimicked her and then watched in triumph as the blushing girl left with a mildly amused Flynn.
Alex gawked at him. "I... No. I can't do that. Fuck off."

You and Charlie kept your relationship more on the private side at the beginning. Both of you rarely posting on Instagram about each other.
Until Owen posted an Instagram story with you and Charlie cuddling on the couch in the background. Neither of you could deny it anymore so you both came out about the relationship.
A lot of fans that were happy for you and Charlie.
Others were jealous but still expressed support.
A little bit of PDA when your relationship came into the public eye. Hand holding and soft kisses to the temple, cheek, and lips.
Posting each other all over your Instagram stories.
Beach dates. Lots of beach dates.
Lots of hiking dates too because you and Charlie both love the outdoors.
Spending quality time with Koa. The puppy adores you. Koa is basically a child that you and Charlie are raising together since you’re always around them.
Cuddles are a necessity in your relationship with Charlie. Especially cuddles that involve playing with each other’s hair.
Speaking of hair, you like to braid Charlie’s hair. He hates it but lets you do it because he loves you and he loves when you do anything with his hair.
Wanting to steal Charlie’s t-shirts but he always cuts the sleeves off. So you steal his hoodies instead.
Late night movie nights since both of you end up working into the dead of night sometimes. You both fall asleep wrapped around each other on the couch or in bed.
Lots and lots of kisses. Good morning kisses and goodnight kisses. Forehead kisses. Cheek kisses. Neck kisses are your favorite.
With lots of kisses comes lots of sex. In public, all there is between you two is hand holding. Behind closed doors, well, you’re glad that the walls are thick in Charlie’s apartment.
Shower sex, morning sex, on-the-counter sex. Sneaky sex when Charlie has people over or you have people over.
Relationships come with their fair share of struggles, and for you and Charlie, that’s distance.
Both of you could be away from each other for long periods of time due to your jobs, which can be a struggle most days.
But it makes visits and seeing each other more special.
Listening to Charlie when he’s practicing guitar or singing on Instagram or TikTok lives. You sometimes get him to sing Unsaid Emily because his voice just sounds really good.
If you’re away from Charlie for long periods of time then he’ll occasionally FaceTime you or go live so you can hear him play your favorite songs. Especially after you’ve had a rough day.
You’re closest friends are Owen and Jeremy since Charlie likes to spend a lot of time with them. Usually, you just sit and watch the three of them goof off with each other.
Surprise visits to whatever project Charlie is working on. You enjoy watching him work.
It’s vise versa too. Charlie likes to surprise you at work with a meal or just to see you.
Surprise dates too, especially if it’s the first time you’re both home for a while.
Charlie takes you home to Canada to meet his parents and siblings. You have so much fun getting to hear all the embarrassing Charlie stories from when he was younger.
Of course, he gets revenge when you take him to meet your parents. Your parents are happy to tell him embarrassing stories.
Both you and Charlie expressing how much you love each other everyday. Not a day goes by where the two of you say “I love you” to each other.

Julie likes to borrow people’s clothes as a comfort thing. A visual, sensory, physical reminder that she’s loved and she has a little piece of that person with her sometimes. It helps her feel more grounded and present and it helps when she has bad days.
Before her mom died, it was less about comfort and a little more about being one of her love languages.
She was only friends with Flynn for four months before she ‘stole’ Flynn’s monster slippers for a few days. Now it’s a standard part of their Christmas presents to each other. They get a new pair of slippers and wear them once or twice before swapping for the new year.
Before things went down with Carrie, the three of them had clothes stashed at each other’s houses and weren’t shy about wearing whatever they grabbed first. Julie came to school once when she was 12 wearing Flynn’s cheetah print hat, Carries pink sweatshirt, and her own jeans she’d doodled on.
She borrowed her dads shirts for playing pirate queen when she was little.
But after her mom died it became a little more about keeping the people she loved closer to her. A reminder that they were there and loved her and everything was okay. And she wears her moms clothes sometimes to help her feel a bit closer. Her mom was gone but sometimes, when julie pulled a sweater out from the back of the closet, it still smelled like her moms perfume, and when she wrapped herself up in the warm, soft material it almost felt like being wrapped in her moms arms when she was small. For just a minute, it’s like having her back again. Then the feeling fades and Julies left with a time worn sweater with its fading scent, and it’s still enough, for now. It’s not the same, not at all, but it makes it a little bit easier to get through the day when all she wants to do is crawl back into bed with her head under the pillow and forget the world for the day.
She wears one of Carlos’s hats the entire week he’s gone at baseball camp the first summer after her mom died, reminding herself that it’s fine, and Carlos is fine, and he’ll be home in a week, and everything will be fine.
We already see in canon that she wears a lot of her moms clothes for performances because it helps her to feel closer to her mom. You can’t tell me julie wouldn’t have her own. Eventually she stops wearing her moms clothes for everyday activities, but even years down the road, Julie still incorporates something of her moms into each performance outfit. A dahlia pin, a necklace, a belt, etc.
Slowly as Julie heals and grows, borrowing clothes slowly regains some of the playfullness and affection it had before. It’s still got some of the needing an anchor bit that it had before but it’s not the only thing keeping her afloat anymore.
The first summer after Julie and the Phantoms was formed. Julies summer wardrobe consisted half of her own clothes and half Luke’s cut off shirts because “It’s really fucking hot outside Luke and these are more comfortable than anything else I own.” Luke just about dies a second time the first time he pops into Julie’s room while she’s laying across the foot of her bed, scribbling in her song book, and he sees that she’s wearing a pair of cut offs and his Rush shirt. You would think after the first few times he would be used to it but the boys brain glitches every time. Flynn thinks it’s hilarious.
She falls asleep in the studio one night and walks up warm and content with Reggie’s leather jacket draped over her. The boys are out for the morning and she’s running late so she slips her hands in the sleeves and wears it to school for the day. Luke trips over the air when she walks in that afternoon wearing it because Julie and leather jacket and pretty and adorable. He doesn’t even clock that it’s Reggie’s until Julie is handing it back at the end of the night with a soft smile and a thank you.
Julie wouldn’t dare to borrow Alex’s fanny pack, it’s sacred. No ones really sure exactly what he keeps in there but he always has exactly what they need. Reggie’s convinced it’s magic and Julie almost agrees, but Alex’s pink sweatshirt on the other hand, that’s fair game. It’s softer and cozier than it looks and it becomes julies new favorite thing. Alex is fine with it. Sometimes he grumbles about being cold but he just curls into Willie instead and always cuts her off when she offers it back.
Flynn won’t say it out loud but sometimes she buys clothes that are more Julies style than her own because Julie hates buying new clothes but she loves borrowing (and keeping) them and Julie needs some new, cute clothes in her wardrobe because while her boys may be cute, none of them have good fashion sense. Except for maybe Alex, but his style is more 90’s gay icon which is incredible but not really Julies thing. So flynn gets a new sweater or a dress and wears it a few times, maybe leaves it out when julie comes over or throws an extra jacket in her backpack on days that she knows julie was up late writing with Luke and would likely forget her lunch, a text book and at least a jacket on her mad dash out the door. It’s what Flynn called working the system. Julie got to show her affection and cute clothes, and Flynn got to play stylist. It was the best of both worlds.
A year later, when Carrie wants to talk and apologizes, when they slowly work their way back into a friendship. Julie fishes one of the triple threat shirts she had stashed in the back of her closet that she liked to forget she kept and pulls it on under a hoodie before school that day. Thankfully they’d messed up when they were ordering the shirts and ordered adult sizing instead of youth. So it fit perfectly at 17 where they’d been night shirts at 8. Interestingly enough, Carries also wearing a sweatshirt that day and Julie catches a glimpse the familiar lettering of -antoms on the back of the shirt underneath when they’re changing for PE. The day they both wore something that reminded them of the other without talking about it or showing it off, was the day the tentative part of tentative friendship was finally removed. There’s still some days where old hurts ache a bit more than usual because even small wounds leave scars, and some of the wounds were far from small. Sometimes Carrie starts to mention rose and Julie flinches. Just a bit, it wouldn’t even be super noticeable if they hadn’t known each other that well, if carrie hadn’t spent a year watching Julie flinch every time she opened her mouth. Carrie hates a lot of things about herself, but that one, that one was by far the worst. Not everything can be forgiven, but they can move forward and sometimes that’s enough.
Idk this got super long and idk if it makes sense anymore and I’m too lazy to edit it but JULIE MOLINA IS A CLOTHES THIEF and I love that for her. Also I might fuck around and flesh this out into a fic later when I’m not so slammed with wips.

One of Julie’s love languages is cooking for other people. Any time she invites someone over for a meal, the literal translation in her brain is ‘I love you.’
When she’s standing at the stove, telling stories of how her mother used to make the best arepas, it means she wants to share this experience with the people around her. It means ‘I love you.’
When her go-to remedy for cheering up Carlos after a bad day at school is fixing a snack for him, it means ‘I love you.’
Shortly after her mother died, she watched as her father spent hours in his office, alone. He’d forget to sleep, he’d forget to eat. So when Julie would bring him something as simple as a turkey sandwich (with extra tomatoes, because that’s just how Rose used to make them), it means ‘I love you.’
When she found out that Luke’s parents forgot his birthday, she stayed up until 2am that night, baking him a homemade chocolate cake with strawberries on top. She brought it to his door after sending him a cryptic text message saying ‘meet me outside.’ He placed the cake on the kitchen counter, watching as she sifted through the cabinets, obviously looking for something. When she emerged with birthday candles and a lighter, he couldn’t help but smile. When she lit the candles and watched him blow them out, encouraging him to make a wish, it meant ‘I love you.’
And when he wrapped his arms around her, placing a kiss on top of her head, he told her he already had his wish. “It’s you,” he said confidently. They both knew that it meant ‘I love you.’

Imagine Julie making regular visits to Emily to check up on her.
Imagine them getting closer because she misses her mom and Emily misses her son.
Imagine Emily showing adorable, albeit embarrassing, pictures of Luke to which the ghost cringes everytime Julie brings up those memories
Imagine Julie easing Emily into listening to Sunset Curve's music as a way to feel closer to Luke
Imagine Julie helping Emily finally sort through Luke's music things in his room and holding her as she cried whenever it got too much for her.
Imagine Emily doing the same for Julie when one day Julie takes one look at the bouquet of dahlias in the kitchen, that she must have passed by dozens of times, and breaks down.
Imagine Julie at the store with Luke, having him help her pick out a Christmas present for Emily that he thinks she may like
Imagine Emily teaching Julie how to knit.
Imagine Julie learning how to knit a beanie for a 'special friend', at least thats what she tells Emily...
Imagine Emily gently ribbing on Julie about this 'special friend' and giving her advice about how rowdy teenage boys could be ('Trust me, I know')
Imagine Luke dropping by one time and smiling at the two most important ladies in his life/afterlife helping each other, all while proudly wearing a lopsided, poorly knitted beanie...

okay, i have a concept, hear me out: julie’s birthday is about to come and the guys find out when they hear her dad talking about it with julie's tia, and of course they want to get a present for her. but they don’t know what could make her really happy, so.... they go to flynn and ask her for help (and that is possible because alex writes sentences on a paper). that’s it, just imagine flynn going to the mall with the guys with this pen and this paper so that they can communicate with her, and spend two hours looking for a proper present for julie

Ok... ok ok ok... yes another JATP post... but hear me out:
Let’s say that Julie is still the only one who can see them in S2...
But this time she can also touch them, but only if she’s feeling particularly strong emotions towards them (love, anger, sadness etc.)
So this does open up for more hijinks in that they can never be really sure when she’ll be able to touch them (and it’d be funny if to everyone else it looks like she’s hugging air) but you know that when she does connect, it’s a really significant moment...
Examples:
she and Luke have one of their many moments and they hold hands and/or touch foreheads during a performance
She gets annoyed at Reggie for a hot second and punches his shoulder
She’s feeling emotional about the band, walks around the corner and crashes into them while they’re standing there...
BUT! What I propose is a Hug Time with Julie! Just this running joke that whenever they’re all having an emotional moment, they run up to give Julie a hug, with varying results...
I want her to have some alone time with Reggie and Alex respectively. I want there to be a moment where Alex comes to Julie for advice about Willie/boys in general, and Julie tells him about idk Queer Eye being one of her favourite shows and he gets emotional and talks about his parents not being fully accepting of him being gay and she gets emotional and just hugs him...
Let’s just say that Home is Where Your Horse is, is actually this really soulful and profound country song that tugs at Julie’s heartstrings when she hears Reggie just quietly singing to himself at the piano in the garage by himself and she comes over, sits next to him, and puts an arm over his shoulder and leans on his shoulder and says “just you wait till I learn the fiddle. This is gonna sound even more amazing” and they just chill like that until the magic finally wears off and she falls through his body...
Let’s say that Julie and Luke are hugging for whatever emotional reason and Reggie turns the corner and sees them and yells “HUG TIME WITH JULIE” and leaps over to join in but just goes straight through Julie and just crashes into Luke until it’s just them tangled up on the floor while Julie watches on hysterical with laughter...
What if Julie and Alex are just chilling watching something and she’s feeling affectionate and leans on his shoulder and then Luke also wants to join the cuddle fest and tries to put his arms around both Alex and Julie and he gets his arm around Alex but his other arm falls through Julie and he ends up kind of collapsing on top of Alex... and Julie faceplants into the couch because Alex got knocked over...
And then the boys are all having a nice moment and are hugging and Julie walks in and just watches them with a smile but then they notice her and they open up their little huddle and ask “Hug Time with Julie?” And she bounds into the hug... and idk if it would be better if she managed to get the hug or just falls straight through them because either would be great...
Idk I want this. Shows that they are still ghosts and ghost shenanigans can still occur but also opens up to cute hug moments with Julie...

why does carrie not like julie at the start of season one?
i have an answer, please bare with me here.
Tumblr media
we enter 1x01 (“Wake Up”) and come to learn that julie’s mom has been dead for a year, it’s the anniversary of her death. and all those 365 days, julie hasn’t dared to touch a piano because the pain is too great.
we also know that carrie used to be friends with her, but we’re left with an impression that carrie doesn’t like slackers, and that is what julie has become in her eyes.
my theory is that just around the time julie’s mom died, carrie’s mom left her and her dad, trevor/bobby.
and suddenly, carrie’s mourning was overshadowed by the sudden demise of her friend’s mom, and she had to put her own grief on hold. her mom was still alive, you know? julie’s wasn’t.
but carrie’s grief for her own loss soon turned to resentment for julie, because she never got to really deal with her emotions, never got to get used to an empty house with her dad always working. it’s why she constantly rehearses, performs, has nick or the dirty candi girls over.
music is a coping mechanism for her, and then julie goes and, unintentionally, steals the attention and praise away with her hologram band. what’s more, once nick broke up with her in pursuit of julie, carrie planted doubts in his mind out of fear of losing the attention of yet another person she cares about.
it’s only in 1x09 (“Stand Tall”) when carrie is actually forced to pay attention to julie’s music that she realises it means as much to julie as it does to her. that they share the same loss in different ways, that performing and connecting with others and receiving that praise is a substitute, a way to fill the hole their mothers left.
while julie’s mother died, though, carrie’s mom decided she didn’t want her anymore and packed up, left her daughter alone. there’s the added hurt of not being good enough piled on top of the grief for carrie, which is why her music is so focused on her perfection, how great she is: because her mom never made her feel that way, unlike julie’s mom did for julie. there’s a very clear gap in both girls’ lives of a maternal figure, but while julie’s mom literally send her a ghost band and writes her a song about rebirth and new beginnings, there’s this void for carrie (which makes the “why do you hate me too?’ hit a little extra hard, imo...)
in conclusion, carrie wilson and bobby/trevor wilson redemption arc better happen in season two because they both deserve it.

alive!luke patterson
You always going to his Sunset Curve gigs, cheering him on from behind the curtain backstage.
Luke dedicating songs to you, especially the ones he wrote about you or for you. You would always get flustered when he would do this.
Pre-show kisses are a must. Luke likes to think that your kisses give him luck.
Celebrating with Luke and the guys after a successful gig. Keeping them away from street dogs because those will kill them one day.
You being the band’s unofficial manager and roadie since you’re dating Luke, and you go everywhere with them.
Luke buying you little gifts in appreciation for you supporting him and Sunset Curve.
You and Luke always getting caught together in the studio or in a dressing room before the gig. The guys making fun of both of you for the rest of the day after you get caught.
Lots of makeout sessions when you and Luke are alone in the garage before or after a practice or in a dressing room before a gig.
Both you and Luke barely being able to keep your hands off each other. You’re always holding hands or touching each other in some way when you’re together. Especially when you’re alone together.
Reggie, Bobby, and Alex being your closest friends, although you’re closer with Alex than Reggie or Bobby.
Luke being supportive of you and what you love like you are of him and his career.
Listening to Luke and his band practice their songs in the garage. You sit on the couch and sway your head to the beat.
You always suck into Luke’s room when he was living at home. He lived in a one-floor house so it was pretty easy. You’d sneak in just to cuddle with him for a bit or listen to him strum for fun on his guitar.
Luke always found a way to sneak into your second-floor bedroom when he wanted to see you or spend the night with you.
Your worst fight with Luke being about Luke running away from his parents. You didn’t think it was a good idea and he just wanted out. Then you saw how his parents were about his music career so you helped him get settled in the garage.
Even after small fights, Luke would make it up to you with cuddles or bringing you snacks. Sometimes fights would lead to make up sex.
Sex wouldn’t happen very often because of Luke’s very busy life with practicing, recording, and performing. But when it would happen, it would be amazing. You’d be on cloud 9.
You and Luke would tell each other how much you love each so many times a day because neither of you know when you won’t be able to tell the other how much you love them.
***
ghost!luke patterson
You being Julie’s best friend, and the only other Lifer that can see the guys.
You being slightly freaked out at first when Julie introduced you to them. Luke quickly was able to calm you down and explained the situation.
Both you and Luke almost falling for each other instantly.
Luke denying any feelings toward you when asked by Reggie or Alex. You denying any feelings toward Luke when asked by Julie.
Eventually, both your feelings would come out into the open.
After feelings come out into the open, Luke plans garage dates, or late night dates since he’s a ghost and you’re alive, and you are one of two people that can see him.
He plays you some old Sunset Curve songs and gives you sneak peeks of new Julie and the Phantoms songs.
You wish you could touch him. You’d love to be able to hold his hand and hug him.
When you find out he has to cross over, it breaks your heart. You disappear from his life because you can’t handle losing him.
Luke pops up again and begs you to come back. Then he touches you.
After he’s able to touch you, you’re always holding his hand or playing with his hair.
You tell him how much you love him so often he might be sick of hearing the words “I love you” come from you.
He tells you he loves you too. He tells you that he’ll always love you since you’ll grow old and he won’t.

So everyone talks about how they think Caleb died and how he probably died during a trick that went wrong. I've seen many people put forward the idea that he drowned in a water tank trick.
But what if he just died in a really boring way? What if he just fell down the stairs and died? Because I think that would be hilarious. In the afterlife, he is very embarrassed about his death and purposely spreads rumours that he died during a trick because he hates the fact that he died in such a boring way.
