Rewatching jatp for the [redacted] time and thinking about how Rose was the last person to talk to the boys before they died which led me to think about the fact that she must have bedazzled the Sunset Curve shirt afterwards.

She would’ve been there when the show got canceled since they didn’t come back and then found out what happened. But she bedazzled in anyways. Not only did she keep that shirt for 25 years but she personalized it, poured love into it. Rose saw the boys perform at a rehearsal once and talked to them once and still saw something worth not only remembering and preserving in a representation of their music but something worth making her own in order to showcase that brief but vital connection they all had.

Thinking about what Cal said about how the world treats teenage girls and how media aimed for teenage girls it’s much the same. Everything good about teenage girls look down upon. That includes everything they like. If media is specifically aimed for teenage girls, it will be looked down upon and it has to be a straight romance or it will face an absurd amount of scrutiny. If that teenage girl media is queer and/ or diverse, it doesn’t stand a chance.

Strumming the soul

“Luke, be still,” Julie hisses at her companion.

Luke squirms. “But I can’t.”

“Yes, you can.”

“No!” He fidgets again, and Julie groans in frustration, earning her even more unwanted attention from the other passengers on the overnight bus. Their heads turn in her direction, scandalized looks on their faces.

Julie ducks her head and adjusts her baseball cap, shielding her face from their prying eyes. She hopes nobody recognizes her. Out of the corner of her eye, she sees a woman frown. An elderly couple exchange glances. The man mutters a complaint about today’s youth to his wife, who purses her lips and nods in agreement. But eventually, they turn away, finally minding their own business again. Relieved, Julie sinks back into her seat. Exhaling slowly, she shuts her eyes, allowing herself to relax – just for a moment.

Life really has it out for her. To be fair, she seriously underestimated the consequences of being a teenage runaway. She’s supposed to fly under the radar; she knows that. But unfortunately, that’s quite a challenging task when you’re cursed with the chattiest companion imaginable.

Peeling one eye open, she cast a sidelong glance at Luke. At this point, he’s literally bouncing in his seat.

“Please,” she says, voice desperate. “Can you tone it down? At least until we’re off the bus?”

“Why?”

“Because you are a guitar!”

I was just a little curious abt something I've seen in other fandom's but haven't seen on jatp fandom yet. so i went to look for it and. Wow.

Summary: Julie never found her way back to music, instead seeking a career in psychology that led her toward research in grief and loss and now a new job as a professor in a college. Sunset Curve managed to find moderate success as a band and Luke is also contracted as a songwriter at their label. idk how to title this

i love Alex's character and the way his anxiety is portrayed. He gives me the vibes of someone who is comfortable enough in himself and his friends to be genuine with his anxiety. It's kind of a joke when he goes "don't touch me!" after complaining about not getting hugged or his "don't tell me how to ghost!" but those things really read to me as someone who is comfortable enough with the guys to say the things everyone with anxiety is feeling but no one is saying.

Luke - he loves broccoli! Although he hated it as a kid, so……………..probably found a really cool rock song about how great broccoli is or something, and changed his tune (ha) 

Zahra - she did ballet growing up. Not that anyone knows. And if Alex somehow manages to get it out of her, it’s only because “no one would believe you, you naive little shit.”

Luke - his parents for SURE. Definitely more about his mum than his dad, but that’s not to say they both didn’t have a hand in his shitty childhood

Zahra - stress and work/life balance. Therapy was actually what brought her and Shaan to keep work out of their personal lives
