When I didn’t think Will could get any more adorable, here’s this excerpt from a recent interview on getting into character:
Interviewer: “So how did [James Gunn] get you into his Warlock?”
Will: “[Gunn] said: ‘Really, your goal each day should be to fuck up.’ That's really scary, because I actively spend all my time trying to avoid fucking up as much as possible and I fail enough as it is when the memo is ‘don't fuck up.’ So when the memo is, like, ‘embrace the idea of fucking up,’ that's a wild one.”

Content warning for:
Ableist remarks, and violence mention toward a disabled person
Screen shots taken today:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
James Gunn replies to a fan asking about Bucky's arm in the GOTG Holiday Special, and claims that Nebula (herself a disabled character with artificial limbs) "took a trip to Earth and tore it [Bucky's artificial limb] off his body because she was feeling Christmassy."
-
This is truly horrible.
Not only is it graphic violence toward a disabled character for no reason at all, it also shows that this whole bit was pure Abelism from the start.
From writer's room to your screens, Ableist jokes for the sake of laughing at disabled people.
As fans it is up to us to say No, we don't accept this. We won't accept this.
Disabled characters and disabled fans deserve better.
MCU, do better.

I haven’t seen anybody talking about this, and I don’t want anyone going in unprepared/unaware like I did, but GOTG3 should have TW for animal abuse and motion sensitivity. We knew the story would be focused more around rockets backstory, but I wasn’t aware how much animal cruelty and just horrific things we’d actually be shown. Also there are several shots where the camera rotates 360 that made me motion sick so just be aware. Stay safe!

Watching some older James Gunn filmography and man I forgot about how fucking gross Slither was lmao.
The part where the lady turns into a DeviantArt drawing and explodes traumatized me as a kid

I noticed James Gunn hasn't had the balls to respond to anyone making valid points about his ableism. Maybe Nebula tore his balls off and hung them on her Christmas tree, cuz she was feeling so freaking Christmasy.
I shouldn’t laugh and yet 🤣
Personally my preferred model of health and disability is that it’s a spectrum and not a dichotomy. Everyone experience disability at some stage in their lives - the alternative is, well, not being alive anymore. And the thing is…you’ve got to be young/immature and very privileged (and usually male - because even these days the carer role often fall to the women while the men distance themselves from the dirty work) to have not seen someone you care about struggle with it. It shouldn’t have to be that you wished he personally experienced disability in order for him to develop sympathy.
And yes he’s completely refusing to engage with the real discussion, which is that it’s a violent act against a disabled person, committed by another disabled person. Classic class bully act of doubling down with “omg it’s a joke!” “Lalala Nebula isn’t disabled she’s a cyborg” “my blorbo is better than your blorbo cos my blorbo thinks your blorbo is a wet tissue” and the “it’s Christmas it’s Christmas everything is excused in the name of Christmas”.
But really, why did we expect better from a guy who made a name for making paedophilic and rape jokes and making derisive comments about what makes female superheroes fuckable.

James Gunn claimed, when those tweets came to attention around the time he was fired from Disney, that he’s a changed man and no longer makes that sort of jokes. Maybe he has, but the last few days shows he’s got a long way to go.
He also claimed “anger” was driving his humour. Mate. Your humour was based around demeaning women, gay people and disabled people. That’s not anger. That’s bigotry.

Is Chris Pratt Homophobic?
Yes. He is. 100%. You seriously think he’s not bigoted just because he claims he isn’t? Actions speak louder than words, guys. If Chris Pratt really cared about LGBTQ+ people, he wouldn’t support assholes like Trump and Ben Shapiro who are doing everything they can to make their lives as miserable as possible. Please miss me with that bullshit.

Spoiler free (except what was shown in trailers) GotG Vol. 3 review...
1. You should probably look at TW/CW before going. If you've seen the trailer or a James Gunn movie or know anything about the High Evolutionary, you can probably guess some of what comes up. I'll try to reblog a few spoiler free ones because there is some rough stuff in that movie. If you have specific questions, you can message me.
2. It is good. Like really damn good. The plot flows, it hits some classic tropes, but doesn't just redo an old MCU plot. Genuinely, I think this is a top 3 or 4 MCU movie for me, and the GotG have never been my favorite characters or favorite movies.
3. It is dark and deeply sad. I tear up at movies sometimes, but I was actively sobbing at several points. There are scenes that even thinking about makes me sad all over.
4. The ending worked for me. I'll do another post on that when more people have seen it.
5. Overall, so so so good, just an amazing conclusion to the trilogy... but I don't know if I can physically put myself through watching it again.
