“   Hey Jacob!   „   I felt an unfamiliar surge of enthusiasm at his smile.   I realized that I was pleased to see him.   This knowledge surprised me.  I smiled back,  and something clicked silently into place  —  like two corresponding puzzle pieces  —  I'd forgotten how much I really liked Jacob Black.

do you know of any fics where bella tells edward she's choosing jacob? i too love him to suffer.
Hi anon!! Sorry it took me so long to reply, work has been crazy. i don't remember if any of these have bella telling edward she chooses jacob especifically, but they're all jakebella and i know i read lots of fic where edward suffered, so here are my bookmarks:
https://archiveofourown.org/works/28742622/chapters/70477563
If Jacob had arrived at the cliffs in New Moon before Bella jumped and obscured Alice's vision, Bella never would have gone to Italy to save Edward. With support from Jacob, she would have embarked on a journey to create happiness for herself, a journey overshadowed by the continual threat posed by Victoria.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/16883415/chapters/39652146
The way New Moon should have been written god damn it.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/419663/chapters/699247
Charlie got Bella the professional help she needed when Edward took off. Now Edward's back - and she's different. AU New Moon - after Volterra - and Eclipse. Mostly in-character, Edward's not villainized.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/17331338/chapters/40774370
A take on the classic New Moon AU - what if Alice didn't appear when she did, leading to the Cullens' return to Forks. What if Bella and Jacob had a chance to explore their romantic feelings? When Bella decides to provide some solace to her broken heart and give Jacob a chance, she also learns about resilience, rebuilding, and moving on.
While Jacob and Bella explore a new stage in their relationship, continuing danger from Victoria throws Bella more firmly into the fold of the La Push pack.
Her whole life, Bella always felt that she didn't quite fit with other humans. She thought she lost her one chance to find her place when the Cullens left. But that's not how chances work. And maybe Bella isn't the broken misfit she always thought. Sometimes finding your place doesn't require a big change. Sometimes it's as easy as breathing. When Edward told Bella she would forget and move on it seemed especially cruel. But the ability to change, grow, and adapt is truly beautiful, and strong. It’s human.
As long as you’re alive, there’s hope.
Now Bella and the pack just have to survive what's coming.

"I can't promise you any of this will work," Jacob's face lit up and I squeezed his hand a bit harder to cut him off. "Just wait, Jake. I can't promise you anything. I am broken, and I don't know if I can be fixed...but if anyone can, it'd be you. I want to try."

Campy Horror Movie AU: Recent high school graduate Bella Swan didn't think life could get any better. She has great friends, a hapless but doting father, and she was going to her dream college in the fall. But when a string of mysterious disappearances threatens her summer vacation, Bella, along with her werewolf best friend and her vampire ex-boyfriend’s family, must figure out who’s behind it all… before anyone else turns up dead. Bella x Jacob
https://archiveofourown.org/works/27150860/chapters/66305603
Bella is torn between heart and mind, right and wrong, and life and death. She struggles to define loyalty, trust, and love. Can any one exist without the other? This is a story about growth and teenage love in all its ordinarily extraordinary beauty. Werewolves and vampires abound, of course. Team Jacob. Cullen friendly. Rated M. Complete.

The thing that's so appealing about Jake is that he represents a happy, healthy love that happens easily and naturally and never hurts, only brings new life and warmth to your world. He's steady, perceptive, reliable. The way they touch each other is so soft and familiar, gentle but also firm, unafraid of breaking one another. Two souls couldn't fit together more smoothly and that is romantic.

bella and the wolfpack karaoke part 2: jake gets on the stage and sings you belong with me at bella. his friends laugh their heads off, but he's doing it for fun so he laughs with them. and bella smiles at him warmly, and thinks that she's got the best friend anyone could ask for, and maybe, after she's done healing from what edward did to her, she might be able to return jake's feelings. she can't picture herself with anyone else, after all

38. jakebella. for your mini fic thing!
Sick Unlike The Wolf—   also found on ao3!
38.  things you said when I was sick
Bella always knew that Jacob Black was more stubborn than anything else. Sure, she also knew that he was kind and loyal and maybe even the funniest person she’s ever met— but mostly he was stubborn.
It was a trait that made him who he is. Typically, this meant that she found it endearing; like when he insists on accompanying her home every night despite the near constant rain. Today however, it seemed that endearing was no longer a word to be found in her vocabulary when she thought of the one hundred and ten ways that she would try to describe Jacob Black.
Bullheaded. It had been the first word to spring into her mind as hung up the receiver. All she had done was call to let him know that she wouldn’t be able to hang out today like they had planned on account of waking up sick. Before she knew it though, one thing had turned into another, and suddenly Jacob was insisting he come over and help take care of her. Never mind the fact that she was older than him, or that she had been taking care of herself longer than anyone else. No fact had deterred him as he rattled on about knowing she was all alone since Charlie was off fishing trip with Billy for the day and how ridiculous it was for him to stay home when they had made plans in the first place.
Irksome. It was the second word to pop into Bella’s mind as she made her way to the front door— a blanket wrapped tightly around shivering shoulders —to let him in, and hopefully put an end to the incessant pounding sound of his knock that seemed to echo throughout her already hurting head. It was then she had come to find that the knocking had been more of a kicking and that the reason he even had decided to do so rather than just let himself in with the spare key he no doubt knew the whereabouts of by now, was because his hands were filled to the brim with paper bags. Their contents remained a surprise as the sight of them and the distant sound of hollered goodbyes as a car sped away left Bella’s head feeling dizzier than it did when she got out of bed this morning.
“Jacob? What —?” She tried her best to form a fitting question but failed to do so. Maybe it was the shock of seeing him weighted down with what she could only assume was over half of the local grocery store’s stock. Maybe it was the fever the angry beeping thermometer had insisted she currently had. Maybe it was the fact that she felt half asleep on her feet, lost within a daze on autopilot somewhere along the way down from her room. Whatever it was, it rendered all attempts to communicate what she was thinking useless and left her trailing after Jacob like a little puppy as he fumbled his way to the dining room to put down the bags.
“You said you were sick.” Although Jacob’s voice is somewhat hard to hear over the jostling of paper bags, it’s hard to miss the matter-of-fact tone it holds, even for Bella in her sickly state. He says it as if that answer couldn’t be clearer. As if it was the all too simple explanation for the fact that there were probably more ingredients on her dining room table right now than there had ever been in her house ever.
Her expression must have given away the fact none of it was adding up because the moment Jacob had looked up and seen it, he laughed. A little too much for that matter, and just when Bella was beginning to grow frustrated, he had dismissed her to the living room and told her to get comfortable and rest while he worked on making her some soup. She had wanted to argue, every bone in her body had insisted on it. She wasn’t used to being waited on in such a fashion. It was usually her taking care of Charlie like this, not that she minded of course, it just made it hard for her to willingly sit by idly. But as her feeble body slumped into the soft cushions of the sofa, the blanket still wrapped securely around her frame, resting suddenly didn’t seem so hard to do.
She must have drifted off to sleep shortly after laying down on the sofa because the next thing Bella knew, she was bolting upright in shock, her heart pounding in her chest as a series of clashes and bangs ricocheted throughout the small Swan kitchen. It was followed soon after by somewhat nervous laughter and a quick apology from Jacob, and the word loud appeared in her mind. She didn’t know what he was up to, or why on earth making soup required so much noise, but as she pulled the blanket tighter around herself, she decided she didn’t care.
A warm hand cupping her cheek awoke her soon after. “Hey sleepyhead, your soup’s ready.”
Almost as if on cue, her stomach growls as a delicious smell hits her nose. Still groggy, she’s barely even opened her eyes when she feels herself being shifted around into a sitting position. A sudden dip in the cushion beside her tells her Jacob’s taken a seat too, and soon after she finds Charlie’s dinner tray across her lap, a steaming bowl of vegetable soup resting on top.
“You didn’t have to make me anything.”
“I know.” Jacob replies while picking up a spoon and offering it to her, urging her to eat.
“I told you not to come.”
“I know.” He repeats, his smile unwavering even as Bella does her best to give him her sternest look. She’s unsure if it’s got more to do with the fact that she’s never really been good at scolding him, or the fact that she’s sick, but he sits unfazed. Just a single eyebrow raised as he watches her, waiting for her to eat.
The words persistent and repetitive take turns circling around her head as she takes a bite of her soup. There was no doubt in her mind that it would be good, but again her face must say it all because before she can speak up to say anything, Jacob’s beaming with accomplishment. Still, even the best soup is not enough to nip her distressed comments in the bud. “I told you not to come because I don’t want you to get sick too.”
“Bells — relax. I’m not even sure I can get sick.”
The sudden clatter of her spoon falling back into her bowl fills the air, doing little for her throbbing head and making her wince. It’s enough to make Jacob’s smile lessen, but only a little as he offers her up a shrug. “Another wolf thing. I mean we heal fast and we’re not really aging; I guess colds and stuff are sort of the same. Or at least, I don’t think any of us have gotten sick since we phased.”
If she hadn’t been so sick, perhaps Bella would’ve fought harder to stop the look of shock she wore from shifting into a full-on pout. She was shaking, although she had little mind for how much that had to do with the fact that she was still fevered and shivering, and just how much had to do with the irrational feelings that seemed to bubble beneath the surface. She hated being sick, and if she was well enough, perhaps she would’ve been angrier. The supernatural ones got all the cool tricks, it was hard to keep up with. Just for that she adds perplexing to the list in her head.
Noticing her shaking, Jacob was quick to go into action. Setting aside the tray with her soup, he had pulled her back into a reclining position on the sofa and into his side before Bella even realized it.
“And even if I can, I don’t care, you know?” His voice is gentle, this time not muffled by the sound of moving paper bags but rather her hair as he lets her rest against him. “I don’t care about getting sick if it means I helped you feel better when you were sick.”
Bella’s still annoyed with him; resentful of the fact that he will mostly likely walk away from this without so much as a runny nose while she spent the morning fearful of coughing up a lung and peeved that he refused to listen when she pleaded for him to stay away rather than go through all this trouble just for her. She wants to tell him all of this and more, but as always, he’s warm and comforting, and as she sinks further into his side, she can feel her eyelids getting heavier.
“Thank you, Jake.”
“Sure, sure.” He chuckles, his lips brushing the side of her temple as he gives her a quick kiss. “I’m always gonna be here to take care of you, Bells.”
Unwavering is the last word she thinks of as she drifts off to sleep in a sick haze in his arms, thankful that he’s Jacob Black and that he’s more stubborn than anything else.
