Did you see the new Jabberwock Island gijinka? She's so cute omg
I did, she's ADORABLE!! If I don't see Jabberwock gijinka in toxic yuri with the Hope's Peak gijinka I'm going to pick up a tablet myself. And of course I absolutely lost it at Official Anniversary Mukuro Design (!!!!).
The art, for people who haven't seen it (from the latest Shiro:Project RE collab):

Recently in the collaboration of Shiro Project:RE x Danganronpa, the humanization of Jabberwock Island came out, do you plan to add her to Makoto's group of girls and make her a Koikatsu model? (I assume aged-up to be the case)
Tumblr media
Funny you say this because @plaindangan brought this to my attention like yesterday. Like literally the post was 30 minutes old. That's how fast the madlad was. I messaged him, @putaindeplagieur, @pyropsychiccollector, @notpistol, @playerfrazier about my plans within the hour of this being brought to my attention. So for now I'll copy and paste what I told the others below

Danganronpa x Oshiro Project: RE -Castle Defense- crossover features Personified Danganronpa Locations
The Japanese mobile game Oshiro Project: RE -Castle Defense- just embarked on its third crossover with the Danganronpa franchise, so now seems like a good time to talk about its unique Danganronpa "characters."
Oshiro Project: RE -Castle Defense- is a tower defense-style game that's been out since 2014. It features anime-style personifications of real-life castles and structures — typically in the form of girls, because Japan be like that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So naturally, when they cross over with Danganronpa? We get personifications of DR locations!
The original 2021 crossover brought us Hope's Peak Academy as an anime girl. In 2022, they did another crossover — now with a "Despair-Filled" version of Hope's Peak being thrown into the mix. And 2024's third event introduced Jabberwock Island as an anime girl. Hope's Peak and Jabberwock both have unique Japanese VAs, to boot. They're fully realized characters in this dang game.
If they keep this up, maybe we'll eventually see Towa City and/or the Ultimate Academy for Gifted Juveniles in future crossovers.

MASSIVE SDR2 SPOILERS
Things that surprise me: that no one somehow found out that the world was virtual. After the first chapter, I think you'd be able to conclude that there is something reality-adjacent about Jabberwock.
But I'm thinking about if there was any way possible to break the software from the inside. Breaking objects to see if you can find invincible objects? Throwing all the books on the library onto the floor and seeing if they clip into each other? Testing particle handling by messing with the sand on the beach? Trying to glitch out entity AI by doing illogical actions or trying to get them to issue conflicting commands by causing chaos at the farm?
All at once?
How much can the supercomputer handle? How much of a nuisance would you be?

I love how, even before Monokuma shows up, Jabberwock is kind of a shit-show.
Like. I don't mean that this place wouldn't be fun to live in or that Usami has some nefarious intent. Just. She does not have her shit together. The place feels hastily thrown together and Usami's a bit out of her element, doing things like interrupting Hajime and Nagito's trip to the farm because she realized cows would be better to have than chickens.
Not to mention that, while Usami seems to have been created for a cuddly-cute mascot appeal that's instantly disarming, she actually just winds up weirding people out as badly as Monokuma did when he first showed up at Hope's Peak. They don't know they're in a virtual reality space. A possessed stuffed bunny telling them to hug it out is freaky when it's seemingly happening in real life.
This is basically the beta run for the Neo World Program as a therapeutic deprogramming system. You can tell that they've never done this before. Not only that, but there's a lot riding on its success so a bit of stress and second-guessing on Usami's part is totally reasonable.

So, anyone want an overanaylsis of the Jabberwock Park statue?
Beware the Jabberwock, my son! The jaws that bite, the claws that catch! Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun The frumious Bandersnatch!
- Lewis Carroll, "Jabberwocky"
(oh gosh this actually needs a read more)
The setting of Super Danganronpa 2 is called Jabberwock Island, a reference to Lewis Carroll's classic quest poem. Are we to assume that this statue in the central island is based on that story?
Then perhaps each animal in the statue - and, by extension, the Monobeasts - represent the beasts that Carroll mentions.
The tiger maybe the Jabberwock itself, the one creature that can definitely be said to have "jaws that bite" and "claws that catch." That may be why Usami defeats it first: the hero of the poem heeds his father's advice to "shun" the others, single-mindedly focusing on the Jabberwock.
The eagle must be the Jubjub bird.
That leaves the snake as the Bandersnatch.
Now here's where things get strange. There's no mention of a horse in "Jabberwocky." What is present is the word "galumph" ("he went galumphing back") - a term Carroll invented for the poem, likely a combination of "gallop" and "triumph." This suggests the presence of a horse. (It could also just be embellishment for the statue - if you're gonna have a knight, might as well give him a steed.)
There's no gorilla in "Jabberwocky," either. Helpfully, the DR fan wiki points out that the Gorilla Mecha is the only Monobeast to feature a piece of the original statue: the crested helmet of the knight. The gorilla is not a monster from "Jabberwocky," but the story's hero.
That last one, I think, is the key to the statue's symbolic significance. This beautiful work of art based on another beautiful work of art is transformed into weapons - into obstacles that imprison and demoralize the castaways of Jabberwock Island. In other words, it's corrupted.
Like how Monokuma turns Magical Girl Usami into the diaper-wearing punching bag Monomi. Like how the Junko AI virus turns the therapeutic mind-vacation of the Neo World Program into a harrowing killing school trip. Like how Junko herself turned the more-or-less good people of Class 77-B into the doomsday architects known as Ultimate Despair.
Allow me to spiral even further! Evil is not a creative force. It corrupts that which already exists, twisting it to insidious ends. It's why alt-right creeps co-opt social justice language to push anti-social justice ideology (once you notice, you'll see it everywhere). It's why abusive people tend to talk most about the importance of love, loyalty, and the duties we have to each other. It's why devils manipulate the truth, and why they use our greater aspirations to bring out our worst sides ...
And so these only slightly more than ordinary high school students must take on a great quest. Nothing so simple as defeating the Monobeasts, but also defeating the corruption of Jabberwock Island and - eventually - the corruption within themselves.
All this from an image that's only around for the very beginning of the first chapter! I think this game's pretty well-written.

For the two people on the planet with the same brainworms as me. Here’s Fuyuhiko in an Obelisk Blue uniform from Yugioh GX. There outfits and duel disks are miserable to draw. Although, it probably doesn’t help that it was my first time drawing them.... and Fuyuhiko as well.

Okay but for real why is it called jabberwock island? There are multiple islands? Should we call it Jabberwock arcepellico? Is it the name of one of the island and we just never found out the other names? It’s multiple islands? What the hell???!!!

(I know this is your day off, so answer whenever you want) I just thought of something. What about Jabberwock Island? Did Makoto and Co buy it to rebuild it and use it for... Bonding purposes? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Ah yes, Jabberwock Island. Or well it's the former name. Now it's called Hope's Springs. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Much grander than before. Why it's practically bustling with life and a full time staff to ensure quality. Now Makoto may object but I feel like the family needs somewhere spacious to relax and get away from the city life. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

i love(hate) how team danganronpa placed a bunch of highschoolers on a tropical fucking warm ass island in mostly cold practical clothes (some of the girls being exceptions) and did not make ANY of them complain ONE BIT. like girl I am a highschooler and if anything even fucking TOUCHES my arms or legs in over 70 fahrenheit temps I go ballistic and damn near tear it off of me as soon as possible. I'm the bitch who comes to school with shorts in a blizzard. from my observations highschoolers cant handle heat and would AT LEAST accommodate the clothes they brought to cool down
