What is the greatest Doctor Who story ever told?

Everything has been split into groups of 32 that I think are of similar levels of notoritiy, but likely not popularity. Seeding within the groups decides the matches. At the end of the round groups are paired up and mashed together to do it all again.

What that means right now is the order the matches below are listed in has no baring on what they'll be against in the next round

Second Chances

(Another Stizzy fic here! I wanted to write something christmassy, but I failed completely so this is my usual thing, a bit of angst, but not too much because I'm too soft to be too mean to those characters.

So Stizzy fic, angst with happy ending. Still very PG. Set some time after 2x07 because that's where canon ends for me.)

Frenchie and Izzy had been missing for two days and Stede had been losing his mind for a day and a half.

He knew the decision had been the right one, the sensible one, the one a good pirate captain would take. It still had hurt to give the order to leave port without his men on board.

It was a not-so-friendly port and Frenchie and Izzy had been trying to make a deal with a local merchant when the British had appeared out of nowhere and the risk of staying there like a sitting duck had been too big so to save the ship and the rest of the crew they had had to set sail, hoping to be back soon to pick them up again.

That had been two long days ago and even though Stede had been trying to keep calm, repeating to himself that Frenchie and Izzy were smart and resourceful and that the crew had managed to send them a warning before leaving port, he had started to lose that fight quite soon. He wasn’t the only one that had been worried, though.

Fang had been the most obvious one as he had spent a lot of those two days crying not so quietly around the ship.

Jim, Archie and Roach had spent way too much time sharpening knives and anything pointy enough to cut people to ribbons.

Oluwande had been constantly making rounds, checking everything on the ship, to make sure they were ready to sail or fight, he had simply said.

Buttons had sent Olivia to land for news frequently and had sworn that the bird had seen Frenchie and Izzy and they were still safe.

“They’re hiding, c’ptain, they’re smart and know when to lie low.”

Black Pete, who had been awfully quiet since they left, had simply nodded in agreement and had kept polishing the cannons.

And Lucius, poor Lucius had been so tense that had broken four quills in those two days, but still he kept insisting he was sure their friends were going to be just fine.

Wee John had turned to knitting as if their lives depended on it. With the Swede’s help he had started making scarves, then jackets, then blankets, but Stede guessed it was a good thing that he had something that kept him occupied.

Stede, on the other hand, could only wait and try not to listen to the awful voice in his head that sounded way too much like Badminton’s and that insisted that he was never going to have the chance to hear Frenchie’s songs again. That he was never going to see Izzy smile to him again.

And that last part was particularly heartbreaking because Stede had only seen that once, but oh, hadn’t it been something beautiful. And he had felt the luckiest man in the word that time, because he knew not many had seen such smile. Probably nobody since Ed had left them.

It had been rough at first, for both of them, but things had gotten better with time and one night, after a late conversation about their next stop to restock Stede had made a joke he couldn’t remember now and Izzy had let out a short laugh and had smiled at him before shyly looking away, and Stede had been so surprised that hadn’t said anything when the first mate had said good night and left, but then he had stayed awake in bed for a long time replaying Izzy’s smile in his head.

And now he was spending hours on deck, watching the sea from that protected cove and waiting for news from a seagull while the ugly voice in his head insisted that he was never going to see Frenchie and Izzy again. That they had been found by the British. That Stede had let them die like a coward.

The morning of the third day, Olivia brought the news of the British leaving the town and Stede didn’t even question it, he immediately gave the order to go back there. In fact, he didn’t even have time to finish yelling his orders because the crew had already rushed to their posts to get the ship moving.

Some other time it would have hurt his feelings, seeing the crew ignore his authority like that, but at that moment he couldn’t care less. Stede simply went to Pete’s side to help and they sailed as fast as they could.

When they reached the port they had barely had time to dock when two figures came rushing towards the ship, one leaning heavily on the other.

They were alive, was Stede’s only thought and the relief almost brought him to his knees.

The moment Frenchie and Izzy got on board, they set sail again, still no sign of the British but better not to tempt fate, and the crew exploded in a chorus of happy cheers as they surrounded their missed crewmates.

Wee Jon engulfed Frenchie in a tight hug as the others patted Izzy on the back and congratulated him for not dying once again. Stede took a look at his first mate’s tired face and smiled at him. Izzy smiled back, looking relieved and happy and Stede couldn’t stop himself from taking the few steps that separated them and pulling Izzy into a crushing hug.

Izzy gasped in surprise, but he soon relaxed in Stede’s arms, letting out a soft sigh against his neck. Stede could have spent hours like that, but eventually he let go of Izzy and looked at him with worry.

“Are you injured?” he asked. “I saw you limping on your way here.”

“We’re both ok,” Izzy replied. “We spent too much time hidden in a cramped space and my leg wasn’t happy about it, I’ll be fine. A bit of food and water would be great, though. We had to do with scraps these last days.”

“Of course!”

When he turned around Stede realized Frenchie was already being guided towards the galley by the rest of the crew and Izzy started slowly following them.

“Wait, Izzy!” Stede said before he could get too far.

Izzy turned back to look at him questioningly and Stede faltered.

“I’d like to keep talking about what has happened,” he finally said. “I have some refreshments in my cabin, I’m sure you can find something you’d like to eat there or I could ask Roach to bring us something…“

“I’m on it, Captain, don’t worry,” Lucius cheerfully said, appearing suddenly at Stede’s side. “I’ll make sure you get some food and water from the galley soon, it looks like you have a lot to talk about.”

Lowering his voice to barely a whisper the young man added “Don’t chicken out now, Captain” and then he started walking towards the galley after smiling encouragingly at Izzy.

Stede looked at Izzy and waited for an answer and the first mate simply nodded and started limping towards the cabin.

Stede was by his side in a second and without asking if he needed any help, because he knew the answer would always be ‘no’, he put an arm around Izzy’s waist to support him and help him walk. To his surprise, Izzy didn’t flinch, didn’t loudly complain, he simply put his arm around Stede’s shoulders and together they walked slowly towards the cabin.

Once inside the room, once the door closed behind them, Stede stopped to look at Izzy with his arm still around him and realized he didn’t want to let go. The voice inside his head, that now sounded surprisingly like Lucius, started whispering to him. You almost lost him, it said, it was almost too late, don’t be a coward now.

Izzy hadn’t let go either, Stede realized, his arm was still around his shoulder and when he looked at the first mate’s face Stede saw a longing that he was sure was reflected in his own face.

I’m a pirate, Stede thought, and pirates are fearless.

So Stede leaned down and kissed him.

Izzy raised his hand to curl around Stede’s neck and deepened the kiss and neither of them let go for a while.

When a suspiciously long time later Lucius finally knocked on the door and let himself inside with a tray of food from the galley, he found Izzy already asleep, leaning against Stede on the settee.

Closing the book he had been reading, Stede put a finger over his lips to demand silence and Lucius complied, leaving quietly as Stede snuggled back against Izzy with a soft smile on his face.

racist fucks out here acting like ed is doomed to become abusive like his father, like he is a violent monster, as if his arc isn’t about learning that he isn’t a monster at all but just a man. how are you looking at ed accepting himself, overcoming feeling like he’s the literal kraken, that he’s loveable and worthy of compassion and kindness even when he thinks the worst of himself, and drawing the conclusion that he’s an irredeemable thug - which is, by the way, what every fucking villain and antagonist thinks of him. you’re aligning your view of him with the bad guys, y’know, the ones who call him a donkey, low-born, and try goading him into violence over and over again because they think that’s all he’s worth? and yeah that includes izzy, because he did that too, it’s 90% of what he fucking did, treating him like he only deserved to live if he was performing hyper masculinity the entire time and the second he stopped he was worse than dead.

we are supposed to feel sorry for ed. the way he feels is heartbreaking. he was abandoned, had his worst fears confirmed to him by stede leaving and izzy pressing on the wound in the worst possible way, and then he fell completely into depression and suicidal ideation. he thinks it’s all he’s good for. he can’t be loved, he hates himself, he’s just the dick who killed his dad and nobody wants him for him. how can you see this very obvious spelled-out agony in him and say “hey, that guy is gonna abuse the man he loves, he’s an abuser just like his dad” you guys are just absolute bottom of the barrel scumbag dickheads, you really really are. you could not be more blatantly racist. you know damn well the show is not saying what you’re claiming it is.

also, insisting that he would ever hurt stede is just completely ignoring every single fucking thing about him. ed would never. the only fucking time stede is physically hurt by ed is when he wakes up from literal death and headbutts him. that’s it. i think we can all agree he didn’t even know what planet he was on when that occurred, and he petulantly says “good it was supposed to hurt” during a squabble that ends with stede telling ed he loves everything about him. pull the other one if you think this was ever framed as ed seriously wanting to hurt stede and not an incredibly hurt and vulnerable man still acting on a half-dead brain.

like for fuck’s sake this is the same man who hides under stede’s robe and presses his head to stede’s hand when he cries after telling him - the only person he has EVER TOLD - about killing his dad. he tells stede about the plot to kill him, and he cannot do it. he can’t lift a finger to him, he never would. he holds stede’s face with both hands when he kisses him and tells him he loves him. he brings him breakfast with a bit of twine on ‘cause he panicked and thought it needed a flourish. he rubs stede’s cashmere against his cheek. the first thing he says makes his life worth living is warmth. he imagines stede with a big goofy sweet grin and gold sparkly goldfish tail coming to save his life. he just wants to retire and have his inn with the man he loves and not worry about stede ever being in a near-death situation again. he wants stede to be safe with him. at no point are we remotely told in the text that we should be genuinely worried ed will ever, ever physically hurt stede. he protects this man with his WHOLE BODY twice and signs an act of grace to avoid him being shot. he tries to get ned to leave him alone when they’re being tortured. he jumps off the boat with jack to swim back to him and he rows back to the republic to find stede too.

he loves stede, would never hurt him, and you’re all just fucking sour your fav died and you’re saying any old shite as a result. swear to god if i catch one more of you even so much as insinuating ed is abusive i’m gonna start lobbing off toes as well.

Stealing Izzy Hands Shirt:

Marching down to his cabin, Izzy muttered various forms of 'stupid fucking twats'. It had been a rough day, Bonnet's ridiculous crew being lazier and more stubborn than usual, which is saying a lot. He had received plenty of 'Iggy's and was consistently undermined.

He didn't want the crew to like him, didn't need them to like him. Edward was no officially one of their captains, which made him one of their official first mates. Most of the crew on the Queen Anne didn't particularly like him but they fucking respected him, that's all he wanted from this crew. Just wanted them to do their goddamn jobs without it being like pulling teeth.

And the icing on the cake had been that you weren't around. Bonnet had asked you to tend to the logs and his journal since Lucius had come down with an illness and you were one of the few crew members that could read and write. It had kept you busy, kept you off of the deck, tending to Bonnet's whims. Izzy hated how much he felt he relied on your presence these days but being able to share an exasperated look with you across the deck eased the ache of being aboard the Revenge.

Izzy was still muttering to himself as he opened the door to his cabin, only pausing when he realised the small room was lit up with a warm glow from an oil lamp. He had expected you to be in the Captains' cabin still, doing whatever it is that a scribe does aboard a pirate ship.

Instead, you were hunched over his desk with the oil lamp beside you, reading over the ship's logs. Your nose scrunched up occasionally before your tongue poked out the corner of your mouth and you scribbled something down.

The lamp cast a warm glow throughout the cabin, you had been the one to bring the oil lamp after insisting that he couldn't just use candles anymore. The warm light illuminated the side of your face, making you look soft. Softer than you already were.

You didn't look up as he let himself in to his own cabin, you were too focused on whatever you were deciphering. He was glad that your attention wasn't on him thought, it would have only embarrassed him.

Even as he quietly closed the door behind him, Izzy couldn't take his eyes off of you. You looked so comfortable, so at home in his space, so...domestic. A word he hadn't thought about since childhood, and even then he didn't think of it much in a positive manner.

It was only then that he noticed you had changed out of your day clothes. Instead, you only wore your underclothes and one of his shirts. He didn't have a wide selections, about three he thinks, and they were all identical, so he recognised it quickly. It didn't fit you right but you looked comfortable in it. The sleeves rolled up as you worked, the collar loose as you left the few top buttons undone.

There you were, existing in his cabin like it was yours too. He supposed it was at this point, you slept in there every night and had moved your possessions in at some point, neither of you could remember well. There you were, sitting at his desk, your desk, wearing one of his shirts. Fuck it, your shirt. You could have it if you wanted it, God knows Izzy would had it over if you just asked.

"Finally!" you huffed, sinking back in the creaky wooden chair as you placed your quill down. "Had to translate Lucius' shorthand, Stede was no help and Lucius is sleeping off his fever," you complained, stretching your arms over your head, hearing your back pop and letting out a sigh.

"For once the fuckers have the right idea, isolating the boy. Sickness isn't something to play around with on a ship," he was reluctant to ever say that Bonnet's crew were doing something right, but they were actually right to give the boy a few days off. Though, Bonnet ordered it out of sympathy rather than the worry of spreading. Izzy decided he would try to just focus on the good side for once.

"Just hope he's feeling better soon, I can't keep following the captain around and taking notes for him," you chuckled slightly, but it sounded tired.

"Bad day?" Izzy asked as he sat down on the edge of the cot.

"Not bad really, at least I was out of the sun, eh?" you shrugged, twisting in the chair to look back at him. "But you've had a bad day," you observed.

"What are you talking about?" Izzy squinted at you but his expression was more open than it once would have been. He knew how well you had learnt to read him.

"I can see it all over your face, you're all tense. Plus I heard you muttering 'twats' outside the door," you gave him a small smile.

Izzy flustered a little, not having realised that anyone had heard his complaints, but still mumbled something about it 'being the truth' as he started removing his boots.

"The captains really should talk to them about listening to you, you're only trying to do your job," you commented quietly, knowing it was 50/50 whether Izzy would scoff and shrug it off or if he would want to talk about it.

Don't get it wrong, you knew how difficult Izzy could be. Loving him didn't change the way he berated the crew, but sometimes you couldn't blame him. Sometimes you wondered if he would shout just a little less if they did their chores when told instead of snarking at him.

"Exactly, thank you. Edward never had a problem with it before," Izzy threw his hands up in exasperation. At least you understood why he felt the way he did. Izzy knew how to keep a tight ship and he was good at it, and Edward used to let him until Bonnet came along.

"Maybe tomorrow will be better?" you suggested.

"Yeah...maybe..." he nodded but didn't sound convinced in the slightest. You both knew tomorrow would likely be the same.

Izzy focused back on removing his boots and tucking them under the cot as you stood from the chair, letting the hem of his shirt fall over your hips.

"Hey, the day's over now, start fresh tomorrow," you cooed, running your fingers through his hair, guiding him to tilt his head back and look up at you.

With a soft smile, you lent down and pressed a kiss to his forehead as you began loosening his necktie. You worked in silence, handing him is ring and letting him slip it onto his finger as you folded the necktie and placed it down on top of the chest.

Izzy just watched as you undid his shirt buttons, down to where his waistcoat got in your way. Then you just undid his waistcoat before returning to his shirt.

His shirt, which looked just like the one you were wearing. It was old, the black faded some, a shade or two lighter than the leather of his pants or waistcoat.

You looked good in it. Well, you looked good in anything.

It looked good on you. It looked right on you.

Izzy helped you remove his waistcoat, a fond feeling forming in his chest as you folded it the way he liked and placed it down with his necktie. Such a simple thing, to know his routine and to help him with it, but it meant so much.

As you returned to him, hands settling on his shoulders, he rested his hands against your waist.

"You lose your shirt or something?" Izzy asked as he toyed with the familiar material, hoping the question had sounded more playful than genuinely inquisitive.

"No...this was just more comfy," you confessed, shrugging lightly, before asking, "is that okay?"

"Yeah...yeah, guess so," he shrugged, like the sight of you in his clothes wasn't sending him into a crisis. Like it hadn't made him consider things that he knew he could never have.

But you did seem to pick up on some of that, if the softness of your gaze told him anything.

"Ready for bed, love?" you asked instead of prying.

"Fucking exhausted," Izzy admitted with a heavy sigh, making you smile.

Izzy finished undressing before joining you on the cot, getting comfortable and draping the blanket over you both.

Shifting closer to each other in a tangle of limbs and the press of bodies had become instinctual for you both. One of your hands finding it's place in Izzy's hair, making sure to mess it up from it's neat style, as his nose brushed against your jaw. Your bodies curled around each other. Protective and safe on both ends, a tenderness that Izzy found himself still getting used too.

One the two of you settled down comfortable, sharing a few whispered words of love and affection and light kisses, it wasn't long before sleep overtook you. Giving in to the stress of the day, forgetting all about it in the sanctuary of your little cabin.

Tomorrow, Izzy would make sure to wear the shirt you had slept in and hope that you didn't notice, hope that you at least didn't say something if you did. He would still be able to smell the soap you use on the collar. So, even if you're still filling in for the scribe, there would be something about you close, something to help Izzy calm down. Something for him to find relief and comfort it.

I don’t know if you’ve seen the Miraculous Ladybug side of Tumblr, but there’s stuff and aus there about what if Miraculouses had side effects based on the animal the Miraculous corresponds to, for example the Black Cat Miraculous could make its holder purr and stuff. My idea is; What if we took that and basically threw it at Power Rangers? Well, I guess that kinda happened in that one Dino Super Charge episode, but it was more like Tyler mentally turning into a T-Rex more than anything, so…

Just gonna list my ideas for Dino Fury :)

Zayto has T-Rex eyesight from the beginning of Dino Fury, so Ollie and Amelia just think Rafkonians have really strong eyesight, that is until Aiyon arrives.

It is theorized that Ceratopsians like Triceratops had quills on their tails, so Ollie having quills on a short little tail?

Amelia can make bird like calls since Ankylosaurs possibly made bird calls after a study of some voice box fossils or something.

Izzy can purr. Need I say less?

Javi now has regular voice cracks thanks to growing nearly unnoticeable scutes on his throat (not inside his mouth) cause Stegosaurus has those and the scutes could probably press down on his Adam’s Apple at least a little.

Aiyon is cold blooded because Mosasaurus is not a dinosaur and is closer to snakes and lizards which are cold blooded. So Aiyon goes into a groggy state during winter.

You know what? I love this. I'd also like to add in that the Rangers have to adjust to these new attributes. And I've long since felt like the Rangers gets the personality attributes at the least! I love all of these! Do you have more?

Introducing Elysium the Shadow Android!

Not only were it's fur and quills colored wrong, it also lacks the same will to fight that all the other androids possess. They were dumped in a scrap yard because of these imperfections in both appearance and programming. Izzy found him and fixed him up, though, and now they're friends!
