Just as a note from someone who's been in mcytblr for years now, qsmpblr you really have to start reblogging more posts.
Out of all the mcytblr fandoms I've been in, qsmpblr has some of the worst reblog to like ratios I've seen and that's incredibly sad because there are so many talented people in this space.
Reblogging is super important because it moves posts out of a tag and as the Tumblr search system is atrocious, a lot of those posts are lost to time if not reblogged.
The only reason people are able to find old posts a lot of the time and keep them circulating is because someone reblogged it. It keeps the qsmpblr ecosystem alive when you reblog stuff!
I have 3-4 year old posts from hermitblr and trafficblr that still get notes to this day because people find them on other people's blogs.
I'm not saying you have to reblog every single post you come across and I'm not trying to make you feel guilty if you don't, that's silly. But if you like something maybe consider reblogging it as well.
Think of it like a corkboard on your wall, you get to display a cool post whether it's art or a text post for others to see, and the poster is happy that their post has been acknowledged. It's a win-win!

one thing I have learned about being poor is that you cannot for a moment stop thinking about it
#theres no peace#every little thing reminds me we are poor#seeing friends having electricity wifi heat food gas. it all costs money. and bills and fees and charges happen all the damn time#im constantly worried that i am measing up somehow or im not keeping track of my finances properly#the person handling our disability assistance application keeps coming back with question after question about my job#and i have so much doubt and fear that ive made some mistake in my answers that will disqualify us from support#and theres this sick backwards stupid thing where applying for and being on disability support is discouraging me from trying to make money#because the more i make the less likely we'll get support but i need to make money to live#its just fucked. and once we're on support i have to make monthly reports of my income so ill feel like im explaining myself all the fuckin#time#cus the system isnt built in a way that makes sense for self employed ppl who have business expenses to account for#sorry for the ranting i cant sleep#truly truly i think poverty is making me a worse persin#more anxious more resentful more jealous more miserable more spiteful#i have so little and there is so little i can do to help it#i want things in a more desparate and even childish way than i used to eant things#spend a lot more time fantasizing about magically having expendable income#not to mention the constant exponential guilt that comes from asking for help or recieving help. its guilt i need to unlearn but i feel it

A little note to all who care.
Unsolicited critique can be the reason people block you.
I'm just having fun drawing my blorbos and sharing my art with people who like the same stuff as me.
I'm doing this for free and I'm especially just doing this for myself.
My art is my way of expressing my love for something, so unless I ask for help or inspiration, kindly keep you critique to yourself.

I've been seeing a number of posts opposing the whole "likes are worthless" idea on here and I feel like a lot of yall are purposefully misunderstanding what creators actually mean when we say that. no one is saying that getting a like means nothing. it's a nice little indicator that a single person enjoyed your post, but it's not helpful in any way to circulating art/creations. likes are worthless to the process of getting your work seen.
we're talking about likes this way because we're trying to push back against the huge disparity in the likes to reblogs ratios. we're trying to get people to understand that your likes, while not damaging in any way, do absolutely nothing to help creators boost their work. they're nice, but that's it. you should be reblogging the work that you enjoy.

What do proshippers generally believe about shipping real people? Stuff like creator x creator or celebrity x reader?
That it falls under the umbrella of "you should be allowed to write anything you want". Once again, it's not my personal thing. There's no real life pairing I read for, and the whole "blank x reader" is not appealing to me at all.
But I have no problem with people writing that stuff, or knowing it's out there. I saw someone a while back say that it's basically just writing about another character, and I agree with that. No matter how much a creator posts or how open a celebrity seems with their personal life, we're still only seeing a tiny snippet of their lives. We have no clue who they are when the cameras aren't recording because we just don't know them. And whatever someone chooses to write about is mostly stemming from that particular persona that they happen to put on for the world and that's it. It's completely separate from our reality because they're basically just writing about another made up character
The problem I have, and it's what I imagine most proshippers also take issue with, is when people start blurring the lines between fiction and reality. To me, there's a world of difference between posting something on ao3, and speculating on secret relationships in the comments of someone's youtube video. Or between talking about something on tumblr, and tagging the person directly on twitter.
I just don't understand people who condemn rpf and talk about how gross and invasive it is, but think it's funny to tag celebrities on twitter to bring up (what they think is) cringe-worthy fanfic tropes that people have written them into. Or people who print out fanworks to shove into an actor's face at a meet and greet and ask them what they think about it. That's where the lines get crossed, to me.
I think ao3 and tumblr still have an air of mysticism to them. A little secrecy, a little privacy. In the sense that someone in the public eye would have to put in a little work to find this stuff for themselves. They'd have to go to the site and search themselves up to find anything. As opposed to just about anyone in the world being able to force this content in their line of sight with a simple @ on a site like twitter.
So to me the problem isn't that this content exists. The problem is when people don't know how to keep fandom stuff private. Write all the rpf you want but remember at the end of the day these are real people, not your blorbos. You don't know them. It's inappropriate to say these things to them personally (which yes, also includes tagging them on twitter or in the comments of their videos). But it's also inappropriate to run up to them with other people's content just to say "look what these FREAKS wrote about you!!" And I think people either forget or just genuinely don't care about the latter.

[ID: two digital drawings of subway boss emmet. he stands, pointing upwards with one hand and gesturing with the other hand (holding a pokeball), and is smiling with his durant perched on his shoulders. he says “i am emmet. i won against you. but i think i just got lucky. in a double battle, if you misread one thing, the rest will be totally different. you know." he dramatically points forward in the next image, holding up the pokeball in his other hand. durant happily chirps from his shoulders. he exclaims “please win 20 battles in a row and fight with me!” end ID]
the battle subway is difficult, but it’s so hard to be frustrated when this is the dialogue you get when you lose

Begging people who read fanfics to leave comments. Especially in the small communities like ours. Fanfics don't have the same support that art does, where it can be reblogged and commented and shared. The only validation we get is from comments, more so than kudos honestly. Because then we feel the engagement, and it feels worth it.
Lots of love and effort goes into writing. So even just a "Loved it!" Or "Can't wait for the next chapter!" changes everything for us. And sure, you can tell the artist directly, we love it when you do. But comments on our works are like scrapbooks. I go back to comments I love to read them over again to get that warm and fuzzy feeling. A hit of dopamine to keep me writing.
Do writers a solid. Tell them you liked it. And thank you to everyone who does. Yes, write for yourselves, but no one is immune to validation, and so we do it for you! Especially in communities like this, where there aren't many stories to go around to keep the fixation fed.

On days like this I ask myself what's even the point of this blog anymore. I have been gone for three days and not a singular ask or case arrived meanwhile. Instead, I receive anonymous complaints telling me that they dislike my personality, my behaviour, that I am too immature, and many more. They basically say all I do is wrong and then 'suggest how to be better' according to their own preferences. Telling me to reconsider my behaviour. Even 'threatening' to 'boycott' me (how does that even work, are you going to stop sending me cases? The person threatening probably doesn't even have any cases anyway) What am I, a puppet on a string? Dancing however you want me to? Just because you are displeased? If you don't like my character I don't even understand why you are on my blog to begin with. Given the blog is literally about me and my life. I know people dislike my personality, even more when I am face to face with them, I am used to that. I know I am difficult to deal with, that the majority of people don't like me. But then having the audacity to demand me to change and even telling me how to change because 'you know it so much better', that's a whole other level of audacity. Why should I want to change because people continuously criticise me? Do you think I changed because of all the people that yelled directly in my face how much they hate me? That's not how you get people to change, quite the opposite. You just make them worse.
At least have the courage to show yourself and stand by your words instead of hiding in anonymous shadows. Are the words of some anonymous even worth anything? You can't be that convinced of your words if you don't want them associated with yourself.
All that just seems discouraging. When the negative starts to outweight the positive what even is the point anymore?

What are your best tips for drawing? Ur art is so pretty 😭
im sorry but giving useful answers to these very big questions is so hard im sorry ydjhnv, i can only regurgitate what every other artist will tell you, practice very frequently and do hundredds of quick and small studies instead of one great study, observe from real life, and don't compare yourself to others! look back at your older art and appreciate how far you've come instead :) also stay very fond of everything you draw please dont strive for perfectionism you are not a corporation your illustrtations dont have to be perfect and clean etc! have fun:))
