This recent talk about authors has me curious: Do you have favourite authors? Or favourite books that you'd recommend (as in not specifically recommend to a person looking to read a specific genre etc. but rather a book you loved reading and would love to shove into absolutely everybody's faces if you could)? Do you only read in English or do you also like to read in other languages? What book or books are you currently reading?
And just so these aren't one-way-street-like snoopily curious questions: my favourite authors are Emma Donoghue and Hannah Kent; my favourite books are "Slammerkin" by Emma Donoghue, "Burial Rites" by Hannah Kent, "Christmas Eve Kittens" by Wilma Counts, Cathleen Clare and Debbie Raleigh, "Every day" by David Levithan, "Der Kristallpalast" (The Crystal Palace) by Oliver Plaschka, Alexander Flory and Matthias Mösch; I'm currently reading "Time of the Magicians" by Wolfram Eilenberger and anxiously awaiting Hannah Kent's most recent book "Devotion" to be translated to my native language.
I am very bad at accurately sorting books into genres, but I'd guess most of the books I've read may be classified as YA, though I personally don't know what classifies a book as YA apart from "is written with young adults as the target group," but that's too broad a description to be useful to anyone in my opinion, heh. Some things I've read I'd sort into (also way too broadly classified) stuff like romance (Christmas Eve Kittens), crime or detective fiction [Krimi in german combines both] (for kids The Three Investigators and The Famous Five, and arguably for adults Sherlock Holmes, Miss Marple, Hercule Poirot though I've only seen Poirot films not yet read Poirot books, shame on me!), horror (Fear Street series as horror for kids and Lovecraft for adults), historical fiction (books by Hannah Kent and Emma Donoghue, Lilac Girls), historical nonfiction (Time of the Magicians and The Visionaries by Wolfram Eilenberger), steampunk (Der Kristallpalast, World Shaker, Steamed, Magierdämmerung), nonfiction (Zoo Station: The Story of Christiane F.), poetry (Heinrich Heine and Edgar Allan Poe) among other things like light-hearted children's books (St. Clare's series).
Some of the aforementioned books are classified as YA, and in my opinion reasonably so, though I do believe that classifying YA as a genre itself is quite useless since it only describes the target group but barely describes what a book is about, if that makes sense.
If I had to write down some classifiers for YA, I'd say it's maybe books that are written in a way that's accessible to a person who is no longer a child but still may be likely to not have experienced much of the adult world yet and may not necessarily be very well-read or knowledgeable about more "mature" topics on a deeper level. I'd guess that for example a book that's about topics that people may have come into contact with during their adolescence in some way may be YA like drugs (Blue Highway by Diane Tullson) and emotional rollercoasters and bullying (Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher, Easy Meat by Maureen Stewart) and stalking (Unheimliche Nähe by Patricia Schröder) and mental illnesses like eating disorders (Jeansgröße 0 by Brigitte Blobel) or depression and physical ilnesses (Before I Die by Jenny Downham, Skellig by David Almond though it's mainly about fantasy and arthritis isn't the focal point if I'm not misremembering) etc. (all of the examples are YA I've read and would also classify as such) or maybe a book that contains entry-level knowledge about philosophy that you may have learned in school or that you may yourself have come across in some way unrelated to school but that doesn't require deeper knowledge on that topic or on specific philosophers or philosophy schools for its target audience to understand well...
Now that I've forgotten whatever point I wanted to make: sorry for rambling, I've been sitting in your askbox trying to remember the titles and looking up their translations and the authors' names for the past hour or so instead of doing the household chores I had planned to do today lol. Off to eat bread for lunch because now I'm too hungry to cook, oops.
Have a nice day!
--
I'm currently reading Invitation to a Banquet: The Story of Chinese Food by Fuchsia Dunlop.
I don't have any books I want to thrust upon everyone. I think that's a good way to breed haters for things I love.
In general, favorite authors of mine are... hmm... Agatha Christie, Tamara Allen, Loretta Chase, Georgette Heyer, Mary Elizabeth Braddon... IDK. It's hard to think of people off the top of my head. I like the current indie "m/m romance" scene in English, but it feels like it's still early days for that industry, and I can't think of a lot of authors I love who have multiple series and who aren't going through a career slump. (Like I love Jordan L. Hawk in general, but his latest stuff isn't making me rush to read more even if I'm still backing his Patreon. KJ Charles not only irritated me with dumb posts but started writing suckier books till I no longer buy her at all.)
I've read a lot of Golden Age detective fiction and some hard boiled US stuff (think 1930s and 40s). I've probably reread those sorts of books more than any others. While I certainly have authors I like, I only very, very rarely reread anything, and a lot of what I read is by non-prolific or long-dead people, so I don't have a bunch of names I go to the bookstore for currently.
My grandmother owned a fuckton of Three Investigators books, so I devoured those as a kid, though I think most Americans my age don't care about them.
I read in Spanish too. The only thing I've gotten through a lot of that springs to mind is the capitan Alatriste series. In general, if I travel somewhere Spanish speaking, I'll try to pick up some books, but I usually end up with things that are too highfallutin and literary for my taste or that are real downers. (Plus I'm a slow reader in Spanish, so the more literary stuff is a slog.) I like fun trash, and most of the fun trash I've seen on bookshelves is translated American romance novels and that kind of thing. I'll read in translation, but not if it's from English.
I do read manga in Japanese, but I'm not anywhere near good enough to read novels at this point.

“Kageyama’s being bullied,” Yamaguchi grits, expression steeled.
Tsukishima lowers his book quietly, and stares, eyes wide.
“As if he has enough social competence to realise he’s being bullied.”
“Tsukki, please.”
Meant to be 5 times Tsukishima accidentally and very reluctantly saved Kageyama from his own social ineptness, and one time Kageyama does the same for him, but we ran into problems bc OP can't count.
(or: everyone is srsly stressed over kageyamas existence, but kageyama, despite having the common sense of a Five Minute Crafts video, is like those buff himbos within the tsundere category. so he somehow ends up wholly unscathed throughout this shit, while everyone else doesnt)
tldr: kageyama lacks forethought, and everyone but him suffers the consequences of it.

Miya Brothers
Sellers & Buyers of Antiques & Curiosities
Suna Rintarou squints at the small sign attached to the front door of the brick shopfront.
He wasn’t sure what he’d been expecting. Something flashier? More brass? The Miya brothers could do with a pot plant out the front. The shopfront has one single large window that’s covered by a plain white curtain, so maybe they could open that up and have some of their antiques and such on display so people get an idea of what they buy and sell. Maybe a paint job for the door, which is the most boring brown Suna has ever seen. There is nothing he can say about it—it’s not nice nor ugly, it’s just boring.
Or, maybe Suna could stop giving any more of a damn about this shopfront and just get his appointment over and done with.
After ending a relationship with a fiancé, Suna returns home and tries to heal from heartbreak. Here, he finds friends in the form of the Miya brothers, and learns patience, forgiveness, and what happiness means to him.
this sounds repetitive but…..SOOOOOOOO GOOOOOD i love the emotion and how it deals with sunas ex and like everything about this fic is gold

@blackkatmagic
i recommend everything shes written but my top favorites currently are:

It's the duty of the Temple Guard to keep the Sacred Spire, the Force nexus at the heart of the Temple. Feemor's always done his duty gladly, kept it safe, kept the light burning. Order 66 changes everything. Changes him. Changes the Spire, too.
Hevy, Cutup, and Droidbait are just caught in the currents and trying to make the most of their second chances, but an unstable Jedi and new powers don't make anything easier.
the concept is so cool and the execution is even better she could probably sell me air and id go crazy for it

A week after an attack that nearly killed him and his son, Jaster Mereel finds Mostross dead on a battlefield. His killer is a Jedi, grievously wounded, who Jaster takes into his care. By Mandalorian tradition, Jon Antilles owes him a life-debt, and Jaster is cunning enough not to let such a thing slip away.
It's meant to be an entirely political arrangement. It doesn't stay that way for long.
not to sound like broken record but god this is fucking fabulous
i totally recommend checking out ALL her works but these were the first ones i thought of out of the ones that are currently updating
@x-authorship-x
she has written sooo many good fics im just going to recommend my favorite series and you can go from there
Eyes
Shisui is way too strong to have his eye taken by Danzo
He's the only one smart enough to master the simplest of techniques to legendary proportions
He was sweet and kind and, despite everything he'd seen and all the things he'd done, he wasn't afraid to hope. To dream for something better.
A series for Shisui
the characters, the plots, the descriptions all add up to something amazing
llamallamaduck
do yourself a favor and check her out, you will not regret it. unfortunately, i will restrain myself to only recommending one fic but DO check the rest out
With no root in the land —(To keep my branches green)
He is not a human and he is not a beast and he is not a creature, but he is. He is a being, then. A being that changes and learns and lives. He thinks his name is Ani.
this is the fic that i first read by llamallamaduck and its a really good introduction to how fucking amazing she is at doing crossovers and writing in general
i hope you enjoy these as much as i have :)

Ranking Aquato family members by how likely they are to commit tax fraud (least to most)
8 - Razputin Aquato
Of all the members of the Aquato Clan, Raz is currently the only member confirmed to be working for the government. He's the absolute model of a federal employee. The kind of agent they would make naively optimistic 50s movies about. The kind of hero who is everything J Edgar Hoover was not. Honest, caring, loyal, hardworking, excited to chase the call of adventure alongside his heroes, who are also employees of the federal government. He's not a slave to authority, but he could best be described as "Lawful Good" in D&D terminology. As such, Raz would never commit tax fraud. He only wants to help people, rescue their brains, and occasionally commit arson and kill animals. But only when its cool. Also, he hates math.
Likelihood: Never.
7 - Dion Aquato
Dion is a contentious character. Some people hate him because of the way he bullies and insults Raz. Others like him because they see past that and see him as depressed and anxious teenager who's taking his insecurities and pain out on his little brother out of jealousy and the fear of his entire world changing around him. But we're not here to talk about that: we're here to ask if he'd commit tax fraud. The answer is he's simply not smart enough to. We're talking about a guy who heard from his toddler-aged brother that real living human beings reproduced via eggs. He simply isn't smart enough to figure it out. He'll either need a caregiver or spouse to file his taxes for him, or he'll download a terrible app on his phone that he can just barely navigate and might still have to go through an audit just because he got stuff wrong.
Likelihood: Too dumb to commit tax fraud. Even if he were smart enough, he'd probably get frustrated and bored very quickly.
6 - Augustus Aquato
Auggie won't lie to you, the thought of cheating on his taxes has definitely crossed his mind. There's a lot of overhead on a circus, even a small one. With how much the family struggles financially, the temptation has always been there to write off a few fake expenses. But he never has, because he's a responsible father and husband, and would never want to endanger his family by putting their finances and freedom in jeopardy.
Likelihood: Highly unlikely. Good dad energy too strong.
5 - Mirtala Aquato
The member of the family we know the least about. She seems kind enough, though often times sarcastic and smart-alikey. A spirited and adventurers young lass, she might find certain parts of the Internal Revenue Code to be arbitrary, annoying or overly cumbersome. The thought might occur to her to commit tax fraud, but its doubtful she'd ever go all the way through with it. The potential jail time and fines would likely be enough to make her decide against it.
Likelihood: Might do it under pressure, but very unlikely otherwise.
4 - Donatella Aquato
A very passionate Italian mother, often times theatrical. Also very uncool about guilt-tripping her kids! Not cool, Donna! Though in fairness it's treated as a gag, and seems to just be her way of burning off the conflicting emotions she's going through. Still, sometime in the VERY near future she needs to give her son a hug and an apology! Moving on to the tax fraud, she's most likely faced the same temptation as her husband, but likely has weaker moral reservations. Donatella strikes me as the rebellious type, the kind who'd angrily stare down the head of a government agency for talking shit to her. Were it not for Augustus reminding her of the dangers, she'd probably get "creative" with her return filings.
Likelihood: Possibly. Similar motivations to Augustus but less moral apprehension. It'd take some pressure before she gives in.
3 - Frazie Aquato
She's a bitch but I like her. She throws shit around and says fucked up evil things. But she still clearly has a heart, can have a pleasent conversation with Raz, and even admits she misses him. Like Dion, she's a dumb teenager with issues, she's just slightly less douchey about it. Slightly. Would she commit tax fraud? This girl breaks into private government property, tosses pinecones at people and skulks around in trees like a spider monkey.
Likelihood: Would commit tax fraud, but doesn't make enough money. She lives in the woods.
2 - Queepie Aquato
This child is an agent of chaos. He runs around in the forest at the age of like 4 and is under no threat by wild animals. If anything, the wild animals are scared of him. His mind conjures up insane and silly conspiracies about psychics that he doesn't even believe and tells his older brother just to fuck with him. This kid will claim his toys and dependents to help fund his pirate radio station.
Likelihood: Already commiting tax fraud with his co-conspirator Morris Martinez.
1 - Nona Aquato
Nona has been committing massive tax fraud for decades, but only by accident. She's been filing as her dead sister, whose identity she unwittingly stole. By now, she's in her golden years, and I'm sure she figures it's too late to stop now. Might as well go the extra mile and fudge some of those numbers. Especially since she recently reconnected with her friend Cassie O'Pia, infamous criminal counterfitter. The stuff Cassie knows about cooking books will be instrumental to her fraudulent claims.
Likelihood: Serial tax scammer

Can i request (naib x doll f.reader?)
(Actually i has going to request wu chang x doll f.reader but wu chang is not there in lists 🥲)
So like reader is hunter. who know hunter nickname is "broken doll" she die by suicidal or someone killed her bc they are jealous bc of her. her skill is like she can summon the mini doll version of survivor whenever some survivor is close to her the mini survivor doll will be puff of out of nowhere and if she hit the mini survivor they will have a damage of it. And the problem is f.reader is so easy to kite bc of her skill every time when she use her skill the mini survivor doll will be gone bc survivor. some of them are really fast and some of them drow pallets at her and f.reader can't speak bc you know someone killed her or suicidal.. after that some survivor will going to bully her every match. And there is nain who going to save/protect f.reader whenever someone is bullying her. And if you don't mind in ending where reader will going to revamp that she can finally sing or talk.😅

❥︎ Paring: ♤Naib Subedar x F!Hunter!Reader
⚠︎ TW: Hurt to comfort. Naib also being a little ooc, but I pretty much soften his personality, Ganji being ooc cuz idk how he acts usually but i know he no like richy ppl n i based reader off a noble singer so ye-. Edgar being a prick. Survivors bullying hunter reader. Mentions of reader's death like poisoning.
᯽ A/N: Im not really fond of the usual damsel in distress reader especially when its a hunter but i aint here to complain.
This was pretty long as i had a whole scenario in my head n took a 5 min break doodle along wif it-

I rather draw y/n that has some hair n eyes than them being bald n almost faceless lmao.
Reader died by poisoning cuz i need a reasonable explanation how she cant speak n not she just died. Almost every hunter died n only Mary seemed to have vocal issues cuz of her chopped head n jojo having asthma cuz he probs smokes-

The sound of wood colliding on the hard cold edge is always a discouraging sound that smashes into your eardrums as the rough material scratches the side of your delicate face. The pain burns on your cheek like a familiar fire that you have gotten used to that hot tears streamed down your face on cue.
Every match was the same; a pallet to the face, the pathway kept clean, and emotionally tiring hours that brings you to a state of depression. You watched with a blurred vision as the doll on your hands slowly disappeared and footsteps of your prey got further and further away. You could never get a win. It's either a tie or a loss. Even the ties are just lucky shots being paired with the weak kiters, or the few friendly survivors that would spare you some pity.
Of all the hunters, you were the weakest, making you an easy win. You wished you'd never ended up here. If only you had been more careful in your past life, maybe you wouldn't have drunk the sweet nectar that was spiked with poison from the one you have so foolishly trusted at first sight.
Blaring alarms pierced through your ears like needles. Your eyes caught the small figures of the survivors rushing towards the door to make their escape. Their tiny bodies from a few distance away sway with the wind, scaring the crows that rested there and relishing in their victory with small bits of laughter your abnormal ears can catch; you know for sure their cheerfulness dripped with venom for you.
Defeat overwhelmed and pulled you to the ground. Your knees scraping on the blades of grass that are more merciful than most survivors that torments you for your lack of experience or disadvantages. You watch as they celebrate like it's a holiday party and continuously making mocking gestures by the open doors. A lump drops to the bottom of your stomach. The feeling of failure felt like a harsh grip; suffocating you like the poison that deprives you of any oxygen and burns your throat til your voice becomes shallow and hoarse. You remembered how you were unable to call for help as your humane life left your body and your corpse left as an artifact of who you once were. Tears blurred your vision as an attempt to shield you away from the disheartening sight and attempt to cool the burning sensation on your cheek, only to make it sting more.
A quick electric sensation courses through your veins, three times in a pattern; the game's psychic signal to you that some survivors have escaped. The daunting feeling  stacked on your back like falling bricks that's building a tower in tetris. Silence filled the air now. The breeze of Lakeside attempted to comfort you with its cooling touches, brushing your hair away from your face. The empty sight however, only reminded you of your despair. It has become oddly peaceful now that the survivors are gone, even if your heart feels heavy with guilt.
That's when you noticed— you're not being sent back to the manor.
A honking noise caught your attention, followed by the consent squawks of the crows that alerted you of their location. Your head shot up at the sudden alarm; someone hasn't escaped yet.
But why?
Out of instinct, your body rushed to where that survivor might be. The crows are your aid, running their beaks, mocking the poor survivor and leading you straight to them. Your feet flew with the wind, carrying you to the upstairs of the giant ship. The red light you emit strangely from your eyes acts as a flashlight in the dark fog. The crows disappear upon your arrival.
It's almost unnoticeable, but the glowing heartbeat gave away the green hooded man that's curled up on the floor behind a batch of barrels in front of a cipher. His body was shaking, his head low to the ground and his hands were by where his ears were supposed to be. It seems like he barricaded himself in the barrels, scared of whatever monster that lurked in his imagination.
What was the mercenary still doing here?
You awkwardly stood around for a few minutes, trying to understand the position he was in. It's like he's hiding from something. Seeing him in that small space, scared and alone reminds you of a stray kitten that was abandoned in a bush. You approached closer, as slow and quiet as you can, like approaching a child. The creeks of the old worn floor made him shot up. His eyes looked at you, startled, before his brows furrowed and his growling at you like a hostile animal– wary and distrustful, but within those same eyes that glared at you, you can see a hint of what seemed like fear.
You backed up, hoping the mercenary won't attack you right then and there. Your fingers slipped loose, forgetting you ever had your weapon and it dropped, making a thud that caught him off guard. Confusion replaced his hostility once he noticed you werent here to kill him. He looked around before bringing eye contact to you. "Is- is the match over?" His body slowly loosened up the tension when he saw you nod your head. You pointed towards the open gate below the ship, in a way telling him his teammates are gone.
He became silent. The mercenary was about to walk over to you until he realized his position; trapped between barrels stacked sideways. His face displayed pure innocent confusion you never thought you'd see from him.
This was just very awkward.
The moment he places his hands on the barrels to push aside, he immediately recoils his body in pain. A loud groan erupted from his throat, making you step forward in concern. Your hands involuntarily grabbed onto a barrel and helped him push it off to the side. Shock now covered his face as he backed up to a wall when you were kneeling in front of him, your form towering above him. You were about to grab onto his hand to take a look at his injuries, but realizing you may scare him off, you just stood there with your hands out.
Even you were surprised at how upfront you can be.
He clicked his tongue when he finally realized what you wanted from him. "I'm fine, thank you. I don't need any help from a hunter." His head turned away from you, averting his eyes and shoving his injured hand behind his lap to avoid your sight on it.
You didn't move. Your eyes focused on him and the signature red light shone on him like police headlights. You're very close to him, making him feel slightly uncomfortable at your unnerving presence.
You and the mercenary don't really encounter each other a lot so it's reasonable why.
That's when you remembered; You're close enough to manifest a doll of him.
Strings of different colors appeared from thin air as the hand you had out for the mercenary created a cute little doll of him. The mercenary felt a strange sensation on his body, like the feeling of thinning into a string and being tied into a knot. Like when the white guard would siphon his soul– only the pull of his soul seems to be attaching himself with the doll as he feels compelled to it. He can feel his heart stopping, as in he doesnt know how to react , standing still in time and watching helplessly..
The big button eyes of the doll stares at you with the same bright blue as his eyes. You noticed his doll version has a slight torn opening, little specks of cotton threatening to spill out from that crack.
That must be his injury.
"Woah, what are you doing?" His tone was skeptical and you responded by lifting up the doll and pointing to its mimicked wounds. Your head tilted at him to ask how he got that. He seemed to catch on quickly and looked at his own injury.
"Honestly– I don't know…"
You looked around, seeing any signs of sharp objects until you caught sight of the familiar crimson color on the edge of the cipher nearest to you. The cipher's light gives you a clarification of its dull color which tells you the blood has dried. You pointed at the dried up blood, wondering if that's where he had hurt himself. He looked at where you pointed at and for a moment his eyes widened and his pupils shifted from the edge of the cipher to the cipher itself.
He was speechless, he didn't say anything until you snapped your fingers in front of him, crashing his train of thoughts. "Oh- I must've been careless." Scratching the back of his neck. You can see a single sweat rolling down his head.
Your focus is back on the doll. A needle suddenly appeared in your other hand, making the mercenary even more tense. Lining up the sharp tip, you pierced through the delicate fabric of the doll, causing the man in front of you to suddenly twitch up in response, feeling the poking sensation on his skin. "H-hey- what are you doing?!"
You ignored his yelping. Stitching away at the small slit, securing back the cotton to its rightful place and closing the gaps. By the time you snapped the excess string to proclaim your completion, the thread that was stitched into the hand slowly morphed with the fabric, disappearing without a trace and making it look as good as new.
The mercenary watched you before looking back at his hand. Sure enough, just like the doll counterpart of him, his wound is gone. Like his injury never happened.
"T-Thanks." The hooded man nodded as a small mimic of bowing. The confusion never left his face. He was in pure shock but also sparkles of curiosity mixed in those same eyes.
His head lifts up once again, catching the gentle expression on his face. Your hair flowing with the wind as the moonlight showered you in its heavenly glow. He spotted the scratch on your cheek and reached out to touch it, but the moment he touched your skin, not only you moved away, he also retracted his hand in surprise.
"What the fuck-?" He muttered before touching your face again, making you recoil again. "What the fuck?!" The confusion was beyond you at this point, making your head swirl, thinking what you did wrong. Was it because you moved away from his advances?
"You're fucking wood!"
Ah nevermind, that's why.
You slowly nodded your head at him. Your eyebrows furrowed with deep concern, opening your mouth and pointing at the thin line by your chin that shows you are a wooden puppet. How is being wood even remotely more astonishing than the other hunters you're sure he has seen before, like the octopus god, the Feaster or the literal lady made of wax on Phillip's shoulder?
"Do you ever talk?" He grumbles at your lack of speech. You stayed silent, your eyes narrowed at him as to give an obvious answer he already knows. A sigh escaped his mouth as he slowly reached. out to the scratch on your cheek, this time you stood still and his fingers hovered ever so slightly above your hard flesh.
"Does it hurt?"
You shook your head. It doesn't hurt anymore with minutes to recover. The scratch would recover once you returned to the manor.
"Do you… have a name?"
Your ear twitches at his words. Your name? Do you even remember ever since appearing here? You stared at him with wide soulless eyes, deep in thought. Searching the darkest and deepest parts of your mind in search of anything that represents your identity.
Nothing.
Your head feels numb.
You can't remember.
Why can't you remember?
You remember your death but now who you are?
Who are you?
Why are you even here?
"Hello?!"
You focus on two hands put together in front of your face. The clap that followed with it took a little bit more time to process. What were you thinking about again? You shook your head to clear your mind, but it seems like the mercenary took it as a sign of no.
"Well- uh. This is awkward…"
Silence filled the air, an awkwardness accompanying the both of you. The right index finger slowly raises up and points to him. The mercenary didn't seem to understand and even pointed at himself to mimic you. "Yes, me?" Your mouth creeks open as the wooden edges scrap each other. The mercenary stared at you for a moment as you stood still with your mouth still agape, wondering what you were trying to ask for. "Are you… hungry?" He queries, head tilted as to wonder if you hunters even need to eat.
Your expressions showed signs of struggle as your head twitched back and forth, leaving the poor man in front of you with even more concern. To him you look like a cat trying to hack up a hairball and with the sudden hoarse moans you just emitted, he was very much worried for you— as weird as that sounds to him.
"Y–our. Na–m–e."
His eyes widen at you, not because you suddenly spoke but the fact your voice sounded worse than an obnoxious squawk of a duck. Does being a puppet mean you have horrible vocal cords? Or did something happen when you died that damaged your ability to speak?
"Naib. Im- Naib." He subconsciously voiced out, not realizing he revealed his name to a hunter until he snapped out of his own disbelief. "Nya–eb-" "Stop. Just– don't speak. You're hurting yourself." He puts his hand out as a gesture of concern much to your disappointment. It's not just because your voice is ear wrenching, but more because he can tell you're struggling to even pronounce a single letter; and he can't help but cringe at your attempt.
You hang your head low, your eyes hiding behind your fringe and struggle to maintain eye contact. The mercenary, who you now acquainted to be Naib, let out a heavy exhale as if he'd been holding his breath for too long. You flinched when he stood up from his spot and stretched his limbs. The sound of his bones cracking made your eye twitch. Naib stood in silence for a brief moment, looking over the open door that called out to him to escape. His eyes then shifts to you, your head still looking down and your thin index finger drawing imaginary shapes on the dusty wooden floor, feeling fiddly with embarrassment creeping up your back; hoping the mercenary would leave and end the match entirely.
"Hey."
You shot your head up. His hand right in front of you, an offer to lift you up from the same hand he refused to give you to check on his wound. You stared back at him with wide eyes, wondering if his action was sincere. In embarrassment, he looked away with his eyes furrowed and lips in a sharp frown.
He normally wouldnt do this, especially not to a hunter. But with you he knows you are more docile than most. Perhaps it wouldnt be so bad to trust you, right?
-
Another match that had you sentence to misery. 4 ciphers has already been done over the course of this match. You have grown tired and eventually decided to avoid any coming survivors and decided to roam free in the map you're held captive in. The crooked circus music invaded your ears as the carousel horse slowly guided you into a never ending loop.
You were in blissful peace. Following along to the distorted tune with your raspy voice. Ever since you're meeting with the mecernary, you have been exercising your vocal cords. Mary has also encouraged you to do so. Saying if you keep exerting your voice and cough once in a while, you will be able to speak normally soon. So that's what you're doing.
The last cipher popped in the near distance and the blaring alarms of the exit doors lit up either sides of the map like a beacon. The loud noise stings your ears like a loud cry of a child, warning you to leave the area and wait for the survivors to escape. Slowly letting yourself fall from the metal saddle on the back of the horse. Your inhumane legs carried you from the middle to the bridge, your footsteps echoed as your heels made constant contact to the stone floor of the bridge. As you went in to the main building, shifting passed the large curtains thats a makeshift door, your eyes caught something specific.
A lone canvas with it's stand supporting it in the middle of the stage. Oddly reminds you of yourself whenever you sat quietly on the comfy chair of the waiting room. The colors on the white material were vibrant and eye catching, hypnotizing you with its glorious image. You went closer and noticed— it was a painting of you. A painting of what you looked like without your wooden doll features.
What you once were.
Your mouth hung agap and your hands once again dropped your weapon to the floor. Something about this painting mesmerized you. Was it because it was a picture of you in a certain way? Or was it because of the radiant colors that blend together perfectly?
A sense of collusion crashed onto the back of your head, causing you to stumble on your feet and crash onto the painting you were jusg admiring.
"You insolent fool! My creation is now ruined!"
You lifted your face up, your dress and face tainted with specks of paint that was still left to dry. You wince at the slight pain that came with the fall. Another harsh bump on your head. If you were ever human, it could leave a bruise.
"Oh shut it with your fine art. We got bigger fish to fry."
Laughter filled your ears, and not the good kind. You look up to see both the Painter and the Batter in front of you. The painter with his arms cross and sneering above you with a snobby look while the Batter had a more smug look.
"Look at this one. How can they call her a hunter when she acts more like a mouse."
The painter's words seared through your wooden skin. His shadowed eyes piercing through your weak form like predator in the dark. Meanwhile the Batter juggled a ball in his hand, he was more focused on the noble dress you wore that was now tarnished. A snicker slipped passed his mouth, a twisted satisfaction was clearly expressed on his face.
You watched helplessly, you were about to grab your weapon until it was knocked away by the feet of thr painter. His other feet stomping on your hand that tried to attempt your escape. "Dont even think about it. How are your little dolls now?" A ball was dropped onto your head before rolling back to the Batter as a taunting game. "Can we leave now? I dont see any reason to continue this." The taller male was now the one to cross his arms.
Bang!
The sound of a well known flare gun fired. The Painter was quickly interrupted by a sudden blast to the face, making him stumble and fall off the stage. Both you and the Batter seemed shocked. You were too scared to look behind you after what you just witness as whoever shot that flare made his presence known with the slow steps that held so much animosity with their approached. You closed your eyes, internally grateful for whoever shot that flare gun but still too much in shock to move.
A small breeze flows passed you, your savior dashed in front of you. Their voice sends you into a sense of warmth when they finally spoke.
"Stop fucking around. Lets go."
It was Naib.
You looked up in surprise seeing the mercenary holding the Batter by his collar pushing him forward to the exit before walking over to the Painter by the floor still writhing from the aftermath. "If you dont want another hit to your pretty little face, I suggest you leave." His grip is now on The Painter's collar. You can see from a small angle, the anger om his face. His eyes fold so tightly with his lips raised up high til his nose scrunched up and teeth revealed.
Yeah that man's pissed.
The shorter male in his grasps looks at him with the same angered look, challenging his death stare but didnt dare to talk back. He only gave Naib the click of his tongue as a spitful agreement before shoving the mecernary off of him. Standing there for a good few seconds before running out of the building.
Naib looked out at the exit for a few moments. His face still filled with fury before closing his eyes to take a quick breather. Turning back to you he picked you up by the shoulder. Slowly bringing you to the stairs and letting you take a seat there.
"Fuck your not alright."
You were slightly taken aback at his straightforwardness. Yet his keen observation was much appreciated. You nodded sheepishly, dusting any remaining dirt off your dress. Naib sighed and scratched the back of his neck, looking at the stage where the left behind balls and the empty flare gun accompanied the broken canvas stand and the tarnished painting; all laid on the middle of the stage like a wreaked performance just happened. He growled, catching you off guard before calming himself down.
Another whiff of silence flew passed you two before Naib reached his hand out to caressed the side of your cheek, making you perk up. When he noticed his irrational action, he quickly pulled away and held onto your shoulder instead, correcting his action.
"You go back and take care okay? I want you to report those two to Miss Nightingale. She will ban them from matches for a month for that."
You nodded your head, a warm feeling crept up your chest. He nods back at you before turning his back, about to leave you. You quickly stood up, jumping down from a step of the stairs you sat on with your voice croaked out to him. He stopped and looked back, his head tilts to your attention. As the distance sound of the gate opening and the tingling sensations buzzing in your mind. The cool breeze that had always been there for you, encouraged you; giving you to confidence to finally speak like a chirp of a bird.
"Thank you."

𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐈𝐓𝐎𝐔𝐒𝐋𝐘 𝐃𝐄𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐃 𝐃𝐈𝐒𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄𝐒. ______________________________________________________________ Muse full name.   Edgar William Cizko
least favorite nickname.   One way to get under Edgar's skin in the worst of ways and lose all his respect if someone were to call him a ' Midget '. That is a very offensive and dehumanizing term; he also hates being called to or referred to as being weak / an idiot in any way.
least favorite season.   Winter if its a real brutal one that consists mainly of heavy snowfall(s). Edgar enjoys cooler weather, like fall, where he's able to most comfortably wear his suits but when it snows, for someone of his stature, having to trudge through all that hefty fall is a chore and very frustrating. Not to mention if and when that snow then turns into slush, he cannot stand that.
least favorite  –––  hot or cold?  Hot⸺ As stated before, Edgar flourishes most in cooler climates, and would much rather it be cold than hot. He especially hates when its very humid outside while also being insanely, suffocatingly hot.
least favorite holiday.   Christmas, he's a scrooge. Given how he does not have anyone in his life to celebrate any holidays with, he doesn't do anything really for ANY holidays. BUT the reason Christmas is the most despised is because of how long it lasts for. People already hype it up and talk about it the instant thanksgiving is over; also with how IN YOUR FACE it is, which makes it very hard to ignore. Kind of a silent reminder to him of how little of people he has in his life, whether he likes to admit it or not.
least favorite food.   Duck⸺ he does not like how oddly oily it is, and the texture of it along with its very odd aftertaste, he refuses it.
least favorite flavor.   Anything that is overly sweet and or has a processed sugary taste. Dont get me wrong, Edgar likes some sweet things, but he is VERY specific about it. He enjoys fruits, but when it comes to things like candies, chocolates, certain frostings, he would rather not.
least favorite drink.   Correlating to the prior thing about him disliking sweets, this goes with drinks also. A shake that is ramped up with a bunch of sweetener, or if its a chocolate shake, he won't enjoy any of it. Especially chocolate, he's not a fan of chocolate shakes nor malts.
least favorite scent.   'Fake floral scents' example being, a lavender scented detergent or a rose, jasmine, eucalyptus scented candle(s). The actual flower itself he typically is fine with, doesn't love it nor does he hate it, but once its made into a flavor like a candle, shampoo, etc... its a lot more nauseating and triggers him to get a headache / feel lightheaded if he's around these scents for too long.
least favorite sound.   Excessively loud music; when someone cranks up their radio so loud where you're unable to hear your own thoughts, so to speak. He also dislikes the sound of someone eating loudly with their mouths open.
least favorite tv shows.   I do not see Edgar being someone who watches TV so no input here.
least favorite area of school.   Most likely the hallways and RIGHT outside/ around the school building. Due to how Edgar behaved as a kid, being seen as perhaps most like a 'nerd' and given his size, he was a very easy target for bullying. Of course, side-comments can be made during class but since there was a teacher there it was far more tame as opposed to the bullying he got in the halls and outside of it.
least favorite aspect of their job.   TECHNICALLY speaking, Edgar really doesn't have a job. So- moving on
least favorite trait in others.   LYING. For Edgar the most undesirable thing someone could do is lie / be unfaithful. It doesn't matter if its a little white lie, just someone hiding the truth; especially if the person was able to look him in the face and do it too. And what else he dislikes in a person that sort of corresponds to this is also people who deny truths, even when faced with the facts.
least favorite place.   'Sycamore Asylum for the Chronic insane' Was the establishment that Edgar was forced into staying at when he was a kid up until he was old enough to sign for his own release. This was, and still is considered the worst parts of his life and it remains as being very traumatic to even talk // go back and think about for him.
least favorite thing to talk about.   Kinda just touched on it but, his time at Sycamore. Anything relating to his time spent there; the second runner up to this would be things having to do with his biological mother and adoptive mother/family.
least favorite thing about themselves.   Try my best to explain cause I myself have trouble putting it into words, or so I feel. There is a LOT of things Edgar doesn't like about himself, and in a way, it manifests itself into ego. So although he may come across as confident in himself, he actually kind of despises himself almost entirely as a whole.
least favorite daily chore.   Doing the dishes / doing laundry as he feels it takes up a lot of time.
least favorite type of clothing.   Anything that goes against his dapper style he would dislike / not wanna wear.
least favorite thing about falling in love.   How, in a way, vulnerable you need to be or make yourself be. Edgar has a lot of trust issues and the thought of having to put his guard down and trust someone ENTIRELY is a terrifying thought to him. That and developing feelings for another as a whole is a thing he's not used to and he'd rather push his feelings deep down and away about it, rather than express his feelings or admit these feelings so he doesn't have to face the possible outcome(s) that may happen IN expressing them.
least favorite thing about death.   Edgar really doesn't have a fear or opinion on death, but he also has never had an experience, least not yet, to give him a personal take or thought on death neither. He knows its there, that one day it will happen, but that's as far as his thoughts ever gone with it. ---------------------------- 𝐓𝐀𝐆𝐆𝐄𝐃 𝐁𝐘. @banschivs thanks for the tag ! 𝐓𝐀𝐆𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐆. @babydxhl , @ofxfiercexfemales , @oflostinfound , @deviousmxnds , @the-rorschach-mask , @thelittlestdemon , @halfghcst, @frestoniia , and anyone else who wants to do it also

Get to know me
Sorry if this is too long I really want some to understand me. Most people have hard time knowing real me not just online me.
If you see a lot of football aka soccer for you American I grew up watching it I am from Belarus but live in America. Growing up I was huge fan of David Beckham had him as my wallpaper on computer and my bro was okay with it. I am huge into entertainment, movies and music. My fav director is Edgar Wright I am taking Edgar Wright filmmaking course online it's not cheap but my mom bought me that as my early 28th bday last year. I really love him as film director even when Last Night in Soho came out and I saw it. I came home and watched his every interview on that movie. I love how his movie usually come out like 3 to 4yrs. He takes time on his movies and I see how a movie fan he is. Last year I went from just listening to pop music and soundtracks to Indie music. I cant do anywhere without my headphones I listen to so much music in public to get away from people it's part of my disability. I listen to music too much does not matter time of day cause it calms me down. All of my rock music love comes from my amazing mom. I am future Filmmaker 4yrs ago I think I wrote like 54 pages script. Truth is we need to write 100 pages but teacher had so many problems about my British character who is cop but my bro was helping. Also I am ON THE SPECTRUM that's why my teacher let me make shorter then 100 pages script. Their is a reason why I chosen filmmaking well because my whole family is medical even my aunt and for me learning it would be hard cause I wanted to be vet. Someone in new high school when we moved to new state like a decade ago told my mom I would never graduate high school and I did close to graduating community college. When I came to community college and took classes I really wanted like filmmaking ones I finally became so happy cause school was never happy for me with my disability school was hell if no one would of helped me I would of failed it on my own. If you talking to me and its not movies, music or entertainment, or football sorry I start to either freak out or I just need to leave I can't be in that room. I wish someday to see my fav band live French band Phoenix but I seen one of my fav bands last year in music festival thanks to my bro its The National. I love anything British my fav actors Dan Stevens, Gwilym Lee, Martin Freeman and Simon Pegg. My favorite tv shows are Legion yes it ended but still it was the best one, Fargo, The Bear, What we do in the Shadows, Welcome to Wrexham, loved Pose and Righteous Gemstones
Just 3yrs ago during the middle of season 4 of Fargo I started to like actor Jason Schwartzman and now I know so much about him. I own almost everything with his band he made Coconut Records only need Nighttiming Vinyl. I won Davy on Ebay for 300 dollars and in 2021 in one auction I won his red jacket from Fargo season 4. If you need to know anything about Jason just don't afraid to ask me. People make fun of me being fan of him cause i know too much but that's not my fault being On The Spectrum he is my hyper fixation. Growing up I been bullied so much even for liking some actors. People tell me on on TWITCH channel how bad of an actor he is or terrible actor. My mom recently came to terms to liking him after I showed so much videos and made her listen him talking about his kids. She says he is a great person and dad. If ever asking one of my fav Jason videos it has to be Sesame Street Memory: Jason Schwartzman | #ThisIsMyStreet cause part of it I relate knowing his one daughter is autistic and special needs. Talking about Jason sometimes annoys my mom.

LAST NIGHT IN SOHO (2021) - a movie that sits as bad with me as ‘promising young woman’
i really do not understand what they wanted to do with this movie, and the fact that I was so excited and hyped for this film as it continued on, to have my face completely drop as the last half an hour pulled through. that is shit, that is pathetic and pointless filmmaking.
(i felt this film very personally)
some positives were the cinematography, the music, colour works and a few on the actors doing an ok job within the film. the beginning and first half had me relatively gripped, the faceless men were terrifying and the obvious target towards of the nastiness of london street life in the 60s was interesting, compelling and made the viewer want that justice, want to find out what happened to sandie. the negatives were the majority of the acting was awkward, forced, the love interest was the weirdest character i have ever seen, his speech, his actions, what?? the bullying which added nothing to the movie and felt so forced that it was ridiculous. the plot holes as the ending began pulling up.
i dont exactly know how to word it all, but the scene where the main character is reaching for the phone, and all of the terrifying men turn into these ‘helpless’ ‘scared looking men, was the worse scene in the entire film. although a few seconds later they tried to pull back and make sandie the victim again, i dont think they could undo what was done. why? why for a moment make these men look like helpless. yes. murder is not always right, especially if the prostitution of herself was ‘consensual’ (despite being forced by matt smith), but why try and make these men who knew exactly what she was, exactly her situation, look like these helpless men who were destroyed by this monster woman.
i cant exactly word this how i want, i just dont know why they suddenly made sandie this villain, this evil woman that the random cop guy (weird character btw, hate that obvious suspicious guy being fucking not who we thought, its such a pathetic TROPE BRO) told us she ‘wasn’t as it seemed’.
why? why couldn’t this be the story of a girl finding out the horrors of sandie trying to get into fame in the 60s, and the lack of justice and suffering that she had to go through. Using her fashion she could of talked about these issues, shed light on the death of sandie and it could of being such a powerful work of freaking art. why why why do they try and push it further. to make it worse. it just ruined everything for me and it really hurt my damn feelings. im getting tired now so cant add much more, just frustrating, especially with edgar wright, this film could of been so special! fuck you guys
(sorry this is convoluted i do not remember any names and also tired af)

Quantico Tea Party
Insider gossip from one of the most important American Operation Centers
Recent News>FBI>Official
Sorry ladies, your prince charming is gay (so is your sugar daddy)
Edgar J. Hover
Last weekend, a bombshell dropped from the FBI headquarters in Quantico that the Section Chief of Critical Incidence Response Team, SSA Aaron Hotchner, openly admitted that he has been married to his former team member and mentor, SSA David Rossi, for almost 5 years. Hotchner announced it at the bureau’s first of its kind One Love fundraiser, which was aimed to elevate LGBTQ awareness in the justice system. SSA Hotchner’s public announcement might indicate a more inclusive, LGBTQ friendly environment, but also raises questions about fraternization rules.
As more than 60,000 Americans across the country go out on the streets celebrating pride month in just one week, the FBI, which had always been 3 steps behind sociopolitical trend, hosted it’s first ever LGBTQ focused fundraiser. The event was close door, with no video recording or outside reporters. Fortunately, the Quantico Tea Party is no outsider.
Beside fundraising, the bureau also invited well-known LGBTQ activists, advocates and two openly LGBTQ members of the congress, to raise voices for the community and gave the agents a lecture on sensitivity and equality. But the star of the night was without a doubt, the newly promoted section chief for the Critical Incidence Response Team (CIRT), SSA Aaron Hotchner. In his short speech, Hotchner confessed that he was married to his old teammate SSA David Rossi while they were still serving in the same unit.
Hotchner started with a reflexion of his impression at the beginning of his career of the bureau, describing the bureau in the 90s as a “powerful institution with a lot of powerful men,” pointing out the rampant discrimination that harmed numerous people:
Men, who were more than comfortable to make jokes, to bully those who they decided were unmanly, and worst, disregard victims of heinous crimes who were of sexual minorities. Sadly, those behaviors are not so uncommon even today.
Hotchner then called for his fellow colleagues to speak out against discrimination if we wished trust and faith from the people we swore to protect. In addition, he claimed that masculinity and patriarchy “the very foundation(s) the bureau and the justice system built upon” and fear of repercussions made people silent even when they do not subscribe to those believes.
But silence only fuels hate. Said Hotchner, leading up to his big revelation, So I decided not to be silent anymore. I am bisexual. I’m married to a man, a man who was my mentor, my teammate, who is and forever will be my best friend. It took us years to accumulate the courage to stand here today and show our love in front all of you, so trust me when I say I know how terrifying it feels. But to all of our colleagues who are afraid, I also want to tell you that there is nothing we should be terrified about because you have a firm, unwavering backup in us. Together, we’ll tear down the walls and ceilings, and build a better, safer place for all of us.
The section chief went on to an brief introduction about the new regulations and programs the bureau put forward, which are too boring for this newsletter, if anyone wants to know the details they are available on the bureau’s official website.
Although Hotchner didn’t name his partner, people all know it is the recently retired David Rossi, one of the founders of the Behavioral Analysis Unit, the unit which both men served for a long time.
Rossi recruited young special agent Hotchner in 1997, personally mentored him until his first retirement. When he returned to the bureau in 2008, he worked under his protege as ASAC, as far as we know, there was no dispute over authority. An anonymous source tells us that the two worked together seamlessly. “They are like mom and dad.” the agent describes them as such. To the outside world, Rossi is most famous for his best selling novels based on his experience as an FBI profiler. He is perhaps the most affluent field agent, he once received a warning for supplying 50,000 USD to a poker tournament in order to locate a suspect. Of course, none of us could forget the final blast we had at the marine bar before it closed. It was Rossi who paid for the whole night. He is thus dubbed our favorite sugar daddy.
Hotchner, on the other hand, has long been the prince charming for many of the ladies and fellas here at Quantico. The unofficial story for his absence from the Academy since 2003 was that he received too many love letters from overly ebullient cadets. With his sharp features, strong stature and solid, calming presence, Hotchner was thrice awarded the hottest man by the Quantico Tea Party team.
Our neighbor, the US Military officially repealed Don’t Ask, Don’t tell in 2010, the Supreme Court ruled same sex marriage legal in 2015, polls have repeatedly showed that the American public support LGBTQ right. But as we, the people of Quantico, can tell, the law moved faster than culture. Last year, the Quantico Tea Party did a follow up on after the 9 then closeted persons who voiced their cautious optimism after the Obergefell ruling. The result was heart wrenching - only two of them were out.
Anti LGBTQ sentiment is still very much prevalent in the justice system. The FBI is the first institution in the Virginia region to hold such event, a signal for the whole justice community that the most conservative, masculine section of the government system is striving for a more equal future. Hotchner hoisted the rainbow flag for which other LGBTQ persons have always longed. It is a beacon for hope and bravery and inclusion, and we have reasons to be optimistic about the transition into a better era for the bureau.
In the meantime, some have expressed concern over Hotchner and Rossi’s violation of the bureau’s fraternization rules.
In 1994, the bureau set forth its first fraternization rules that forbid all romantic relationships between a superior and their subordinate. The rules has since been more restrict, and words are that Rossi is the reason for these rules. Apparently the rules work well. For years people have debated over fraternization rules. Some, citing studies and cases, saying that allowing inter-team relationship will open doors for all kinds of problems - harassment, bias, inefficiency - but others, especially field agents, argue that not getting attached to the person you go through hell and heaven with is against human nature.
Hotchner did not address this problem in his speech, but one thing we can be sure of is that this blemish, if you can call it such, in Hotchner’s relationship with Rossi, will not diminish its significance for LGBTQ equality, nor does it taint the beauty of their love. According to our eyewitness, Rossi kissed his husband after he got off stage. Later that evening, the two men left the event together, hands locking.

Hi, can you do an Victor, Edgar, Andrew and Lucas (Identity V) tickle HC?
I do tend to work better with chars I fixate on but I will give it my best shot Luca Basla 8/10, ticklish gremlin who is a 50/50 lee/ler, big switch. A little iffy about touch initially but settles into it. Will give tickly zaps if he's feeling like being a menace during a match. When one of his shocks tickled a hunter instead of well, stunning, its like a light bulb went off in his head!. He takes glee in teasing both hunters and survivors, though he does get got in return. Victor 9/10, Hella squeaky lee who gets super flustered about being tickled. Not much of a talker, but sweet all the same. Not much for tickling back but if he's feeling it, he will. A gentle tickler. Edgar 7/10, Ticklish menace, bullies Luca via paintbrushes. 60 ler, 40 lee. Hunters ain't safe either, esp if he's in a grumpy mood that day. Hisses when tickled by folks he ain't used to tickling him. Andrew 6/10, Not as ticklish as the other three but still ticklish. Ball of anxiety with a shovel, yelps and makes startled sounds when poked. Tends to watch tickle fights rather than join in.

—Moot-ikemen compatibility
Tumblr media
TW: I'm just bullying the characters lol
Notes: By popular demand six people, the list of who I think moots are most compatible with (platonically or romantically, interpret it as you wish) from the three ikemen games minus ikepri <3
Tumblr media
@a-chaotic-dumbass + Jonah (ikerev)
That man is petty as hell and seriously self absorbed. Like, he needs to one day wake up, look in a mirror, look a complete fucking mess and simply leave it as it is and spend the day laying around; the man needs some modesty and chill with his mint toothpaste looking hair.
Despite that, the two of you would have a pretty good dynamic of trying to out petty and out god complex one another and from that point, eventually, there's some kind of mutual respect there because you're idiots but not idiot idiots so you can see where the other is coming from.
Like, it's a relationship of consensual-ish bullying where the two of you will begrudgingly help the other if they're upset even if you do it with all the tact of a cat biting its owner's toes when they can tell that they're sad.
@rurifangirl + Loki (ikerev)
I was just gonna say that he's a cat boy and just leave it at that absjgHjwga
You're both very similar but in a way that doesn't guarantee your mutual self destruction. You both have things that you're going through and also have the right kind of mindset that would work with the other really well because you're understanding and really caring, if in a little bit of a chaotic way and he's the kind of lost that needs someone to guide him in the right direction but in the way that you're both walking down the healing road rather than just you figuring it out for him.
You also both contrast really nicely, with him being upbeat and affectionate and with too much energy and really needs to sit the fuck down for a few seconds and you're more low energy chaotic but willing and interested in doing quite a lot.
@mllorei + Masamune (ikesen)
I LITERALLY COULDN'T THINK OF ANYONE BETTER FOR YOU I'M-
He's emotionally funky and needs something to stay grounded at all times to stop himself from doing something extremely dangerous impulsively and you're level headed enough to be able to do that. You're really good with words and always seen to be really good at emphasising with people on some level and you're really good at coming up with solutions to problems.
However, you're not opposed to having fun, especially with someone you care about, and are also smart in the kind of chaotic way.
You're really difficult to not be able to respect unless your ideals go directly against someone else's and you're just exactly the kind of person that would be really well suited for him because you're the perfect balance of what he needs in a person while simultaneously being able to stand your own ground and not make other people the reason that you change.
@maries-gallery + Edgar (ikerev)
He's secretive as hell, needs to take a second to bring himself back to reality, and sit down and have a nice cup of tea where the world can't touch him for a little while, please.
Your intelligence is definitely a big part of why I think the two of you would be so well suited for each other since he's also intelligent and needs someone to be able to mentally stimulate him and you seem to enjoy the same so you both have common ground to bond in that regard. There's also your strong ideals and how they go really well hand in hand with his own and it also builds a point for him to respect you.
You're empathetic while simultaneously humorous which is a vibe that goes well with him because that's the kind of person he needs to be able to keep together. Despite his secrets, he's also the kind of person who would be able to keep up with you and suit your emotional needs without making it a one sided kind of relationship.
@anonymousgeekhere + Mitsunari (ikevamp)
My sweet boy, I can't really be rude about him other than the fact that he's about as dense as a fucking rock and horrible at taking care of himself.
You're really caring, you're basically my big sister, and you're the kind of person that would be really healthy for Mitsunari to like,,, keep him from accidentally dying like you do with me and the rest of your moots. His incorporation into your life would also act as a pretty good incentive for you to take better care of yourself too which is definitely a bonus.
He's really sweet and one of the most doting people ever and it's really hard to ever feel insecure around him because he is unable to see anything that you may see about yourself as an imperfection as anything less than an addition to why you're wonderful. He's a little clumsy with words sometimes and lacks common sense at times too but it would be a really sweet dynamic.
@greek-myth-bitch + Napoleon (ikevamp)
I have never talked to you directly but the two of you just seem to work in my head. You've got the chaotic energy and the drive. like, he's be lowkey scared of you to start with because your energy is so new to him.
Like, you're over here yelling about chaos and arson and he's just kind of in the middle of it all not really knowing what to do but low energy enough at times to pull you down with him and high energy enough at times to just bounce around with you. Maybe not murder though.
I can probably make a better judgement if I talk to you more but your energies just go really well with each other from my view point <3
@mcofthemansion + Arthur (ikevamp)
Another one getting their fave-
You and Arthur would just be so well suited to each other. He's so starved of genuine affection starved and swimming in self doubt and loathing that he would rather never face but has to eventually because he didn't learn anything from the characters that he wrote about and you're sweet enough as to be able to make him realise that working through it is easier that ignoring it in the long term.
You're both affectionate and vibe with each other's energies because they just work with how caring you are and how honest he can be when he isn't desperate to put on a front for other people.
Your honesty balances out his obsessive need to constantly cover up and his general typically upbeat (?) attitude is also a perfect remedy for whenever you're feeling particularly low because he's definitely no amateur with words and is more than willing to keep you company whenever you would ask.
@legalize-arson + Mitsuhide (ikesen)
Okay, here me out. While the two of you would definitely start off really rocky because he's insufferable and a tease and you're very stubborn and sensitive at times so you kind of wouldn't mix at the beginning but you would come to.
While he can seem to be insensitive at the beginning, especially when he isn't obligated to openly display that he cares, he's surprisingly easy to get along with in your case because he matches your habit of liking to tease bully people and is also really intelligent. Academically and generally intelligent. Not emotionally intelligent.
He's really good with words and is really good with picking up on people's feelings other than his own and would be able to tell when you're feeling low and don't particularly want to tell anyone and is subtle enough to be able to do what he can to help you without treating you like anything is wrong or coddling you like anything it wrong. You're also aware of what you feel to the point that it would simultaneously rub off on him from seeing how you react to your own feelings when now restricted.
@yanderepuck + Leonardo (ikevamp)
You, Nori and Lorei have such good taste as to who would suit you best wtf, I can't think of anything better for you guys other than people you already like.
He's lazy as fuck and needs to understand that he can't stop every bad thing from happening in the world but also really creative and supportive of just about anyone's ideas so he's always gonna be down for supporting your career and looking at any designs you want him to look at. He also has no qualms pulling you down for a nap at random times because really you need it because you can't panic when you're asleep.
He's got a lot of experience so he's be really good with helping you work through most things in any way that he can and does it in a way that doesn't feel demeaning but he'll definitely coddle you. You're the kind of person that would simply suit him and his life style because you definitely need the break and he's one to give you one and you also need the mood uplifting which he will give you whenever you want.
Youre also the kind of person who has dealt with their own fair share of troubles and by no means are naive so you're the kind of person that would be able to putt him out of his kind of fixed mindset so he can realise that, nothing is permanent unless a person chooses to do something about it.
@helloitsmedina + Dazai (ikevamp)
You're another person that I haven't really managed to talk to much but you give me a calm ish kind of chaotic energy. Like, you seem to have a tendency to gravitate towards more chaotic individuals while simultaneously having a somewhat lazy kind of chaotic energy yourself.
While Dazai in all his strange self-depreciating energy is probably more one to need to stay grounded, I feel like someone who's more flowy and adaptable would also work really well with him because you seem like someone that's willing to do quite a lot but to a certain extent. That's the kind of stuff that Dazai needs because, while someone needs to deter him from any more ridiculous stunts like stealing chickens, he'd benefit from having someone that will agree to some of his whims because he isn't really one to be tied down.
You also seem to appreciate the quieter moments as well which Dazai isn't unknown to have along side his own deeper understanding of people to an extent which suits the kind of open-ish and empathetic vibe I get from you.
@ my moots, if you would also like me to add you to this, literally just tell me, I can do this for days and it's a lot of fun <3

Cinderella September-through-November: "Ella Enchanted" (2004 film)
Tumblr media
At first I wasn't sure if I wanted to include this film in my overview of Cinderella retellings. Based very loosely on Gail Carson Levine's beloved middle grade novel of the same name, it bears even less resemblance to Cinderella than it does to its source novel. But despite its mixed reviews it does have a cult following, and it technically was inspired by Cinderella, so here it is.
Ella Enchanted solves the eternal feminist "problem" of "Why does Cinderella let her stepfamily mistreat her?" in this way: despite being a strong-minded, intelligent young woman, Ella of Frell (Anne Hathaway) is magically cursed to obey every command she hears. This was a Sleeping Beauty-style "gift" given to her by a silly fairy named Lucinda when she was a baby. Naturally this causes trouble for her after her mother's death, when her father brings home a ruthless stepmother, Dame Olga, and obnoxious stepsisters, Hattie and Olive, who eagerly exploit her. In desperation, Ella finally journeys forth to find Lucinda and insist that she remove the curse. Her guide is a magical talking book named Benny, and she gains two traveling companions along the way: an elf named Slannen, who aspires to be a lawyer despite the laws that force all elves to be entertainers, and more importantly, Prince Charmont, nicknamed Char (Hugh Dancy).
The orphaned Prince Char has been sheltered from the world at boarding school, while his uncle Sir Edgar (Cary Elwes, in a villainous turn just the opposite of his swashbuckling hero role in The Princess Bride) reigns as his regent, cruelly oppressing the kingdom's elves, ogres and giants. A passionate advocate for non-human rights, Ella initially disdains Char as a puppet of his uncle; but Char finds her lack of fawning attractive, and as they inevitably fall in love, he gains a new social conscience and resolve to improve his subjects' lives. (The influence of Ever After can be felt.) But Ella's search for Lucinda is fruitless, and far worse, the dastardly Edgar finds out about her curse – which Char doesn't know about, as the magic prevents Ella from telling anyone. He orders Ella to murder Char on the stroke of midnight at Char's coronation ball, so that he can be king instead.
Despite valiant efforts to resist, at midnight Ella finds herself at the castle, elegantly gowned and struggling not to plunge a dagger into Char's back. But just in time, at long last, she finds a way to free herself from her obedience. (A simple trick that you'd think she would have considered before.) Edgar isn't stopped so easily, however: he has Ella arrested for her "attempted murder" of the prince, then plots to poison Char himself at the next day's coronation. It takes an uprising of elves, ogres and giants with Ella at the lead to save the day and create a fairy tale ending.
This film was made at the Shrek franchise's height of success and it shows: much like Shrek, the setting is a fractured fairy tale world full of jokey modern references and the screenplay never takes itself too seriously at all. Carriages are colored like New York taxis, towns include castle-shaped malls with wooden escalators, Prince Char is treated like a teen idol with mobs of shrieking fangirls, and the score is littered with contemporary pop songs. Most memorably, Ella belts out a rendition of Queen's "Somebody to Love" at a giants' wedding party, and in the finale, she and Char lead their own wedding party in rocking to Elton John's "Don't Go Breaking My Heart." More comedy is provided by the literalness with which Ella's curse makes her obey orders: phrases like "Hold your tongue!" "Freeze!" or "Kick his butt!" all result in visual gags.
The entire atmosphere might strike some viewers as too jokey and self-mocking. Some of us might also wish that the plot bore more resemblance to Cinderella. The stepfamily never make Ella work as a servant, but bully her in other ways; nor is there a pumpkin coach, and glass slippers only make a brief cameo. Since this is meant to be a feminist Cinderella, we might also complain that it uses the "not like other girls" trope: Ella and her friend Areida are the only two young women not portrayed as shallow, squealing things. There's also the fact that the oppression of fantastical creatures is clearly analogous to racial injustice, yet the only notable actors of color are Jimi Mistry as the talking book, Paraminder Nagra in the minor role of Areida, and Vivica A. Fox as the troublemaking Lucinda.
Still, as a lighthearted fantasy romp, this film does its job well. The cast is excellent all around, from Hathaway's winsome, spunky Ella, to Dancy's naïve yet likable Prince, to Elwes' unabashedly camp villain, to Joanna Lumley's wicked stepmother and Lucy Punch as her spiteful elder daughter Hattie, to Eric Idle's sly narration. The beautiful green backdrop of Ireland and the fanciful costumes and special effects are nicely atmospheric too. And at the heart of the film (and its richer, less jokey source novel) is a valuable message about freedom and agency.
Is this sophisticated cinema or a definitive Cinderella? No. But is it a light, frothy good time for anyone who enjoys romantic comedy and fractured fairy tales? Absolutely yes.
