hot take of the day. emailing is the easiest form of communication. theres no expectation to be natural because everyone is professional and awkward over email. and you only email with a purpose and when the goal of the email is accomplished you can just stop talking.

I'm asking bc including my one work email I've got four email accounts, which were all set up for different reasons and used for different reasons, but it feels like too many when I can't find my preorder confirmation lmao

#its one very old email that i dont use personally anymore but some very old accounts are still linked to #so i occasionally have to check there for receipts (wasnt there) #as well as when i want to sign up for some sketchy stuff lmao #then my professionally-named personal email that i use for the majority of everything on a normal basis (wasnt there lol) #then my Kenna May email which I use to sign up for anything tabletop/writing/editing/giving out to internet friends #(preorder conf was there!) #(why did i buy it with that email! who knows!)

#like when i first emailed him last summer to ask about joining his lab i expected a response within like maybe 3 days bc thats what im used #to with most academics and professionals but he literally responded in three MINUTES and i felt like shitting myself #like. when does this man sleep. bc im emailing him my draft at 10pm and get a response right away when i know hes also in the lab at the #first moment he can. i have no way of saying if he gets there earlier than 8 bc you know my ass is getting there at 9 but im pretty sure its #8 at the latest. AND he works out in the mornings. GIRL???? #hes like yeah during my phd i went to the gym at 5 was in the lab for 8 hours went home cooked dinner etc and would go to bed at midnight #so. he functioned on about 5 hours of sleep for at least 4 years and im pretty sure he still does. what fucking witchcraft is his body #chemistry doing in there. HES IN HIS 50S TOO

I love food and cooking and eating but honestly this just makes me never want to eat again. It's so painful. It's exhausting. It's a constant worry and paranoia and everytime I think oh it'll never happen again it DOES and idek what to do because a food elimination diet would probably kill me for mental reasons alone like. Love the versatility of "sounds good." It's my go-to. Coworkers asking if you can do something that warrants a response but a curt yes doesn't feel right? Sounds good! Mom making plans that don't require tons of enthusiasm but you want to show you're excited? Sounds good! Chatting with friends and it's not so formal you need a long reply but you're happy to hear their answer? Sounds good! Things don't sound good but you have no choice so you need a short affirmative or you'll get in trouble with what you say instead? Sounds good!

idk sometimes i wish we used emails more because like social media messages are fine but the expected tone seems to me "omg this was really good" when sometimes the tone i want to have is "this touched me deeply" in a more ambling way. like i want to meander, i want to wax poetic, i want to give you my case without a character limit and 7 messages. ya know.
