Another update on my crochet FE3H Golden Deer banner

Hello again, dear friends.

It has been a few months. I would love to say I’ve been busy but truthfully I haven’t.

But I’m back!

I started off by continuing, and subsequently finishing, the zig zags. (Which, because it’s been so long since I last touched this project, did require me to relearn how to do said zigzag. On an unrelated note, it’s a fun lil pattern and I may yet make a bigger project made entirely out of zigzags).

(Please excuse the slightly awkward picture, I only took a pic of the zig zag process on instagram so I’ve cropped out the text)

(In case you’re wondering, yes I am sitting on the floor in that pic. Why? Because I was in a freezing cold church and the only warmth was coming from the grates in the floor)

Next came the attaching of the zig zags!

I laid it all out and used some stitch markers to hold it in place so I could see how it looked.

Then I began the somewhat tedious process of filling in the gaps. (Tedious mostly because the zig zags would flop around and get in the way and make everything ten times harder).

One zig zag down.

Two zig zags down.

And, unfortunately for me, this was the moment I realised I’d fucked up somewhat.

See, the pattern has a fifth colour that it uses to go around the entire thing to create a sort of border.

What I had forgotten until this very moment was that the border was also meant to go inbetween the zigzag section and the main section.

Unfortunately, I had already cut the wool for the two sections and had sewn in some of the ends so I couldn’t easily unpick it.

I decided to press bravely onwards and attempt to sew in the extra border later. How?, you may ask. Um… I’ll work it out?

By this point, my hands were also starting to ache like nobody’s business. I’d been crocheting for about 5 hours by this point and my hands were beginning to protest.

But I was so close. I was almost desperate to at least finish attaching the zig zags.

After a short dinner break, I finally finished zig zag numero 3:

And then, because I clearly hadn’t quite learnt my lesson yet, and high off the serotonin from completing a section, I decided to keep going.

I began sewing the border I’d forgotten in as sewing was easier on my hands than crocheting. But then I got bored so I switched to beginning to crochet the border to go around the whole thing.

It is here where I finally decided enough was enough.

My hands are a smidgen painful now ngl (even typing this they’re aching) so… yeah… stopping for tonight might be an idea.

But!

It’s so close to being done!

And its starting to look really really good if I may say so myself.

Still left to do:

the top bit (which is the same colour as the zig zags)

finish the border (which also goes around all sides of the top bit, hence why I started it already)

finish sewing the zig zag border

add details?

breathe a sigh of relief that I actually finally managed to finish something

But, for now, ima go to bed.

On the topic of life series inspired SMP's, there's a group known as the WRACKS who do those! They've had 2 main series so far and there's been content for both of them! There's Ampersandthewiz who made videos out of the double life they did and SerotoninRat, who made videos out of the one after that, 4th Life! Both of them start a lil low quality but it's really charming how you can watch them improve at things like editing over the course of the videos. I know Amp and Serotonin are on tumblr too so that's fun.

Double life series are always a fun watch! I love seeing how others take the concept and run with it. Every group brings something new to it, and this one is no different! being able to see how this friend group’s dynamic changes the experience is exciting in its own way, even with how new to the community they are. Theres even little introduction cards during Ampers’s Double Life pov, so you get to learn more about each member even if he dosen’t interact with them much!

Ignore my rambling, I'm just spitballing with little to no sleep..

So like, I'm on the last chapter of Beacon, right? All four boys are going to have their happy endings with their respective partners (that's not a spoiler its a fucking given, cuz its me. Someone's gotta give this fandom a little boost of serotonin now and then). The plan was to just write little stories from then on now that the relationships are pre established and I don't HAVE to worry about plot, I can just watch my babi's have fun and be happy. And yeah, i fully intend to do that. While also working on my actual career.

But no, see now I'm thinking of like, 10 more years down the line, when everyones in their midd 30's or so. Mutants are staaarting to become more normalized in society instead of just cryptid status and being hunted by the epf. The idea of the turtles (probably Donnie because of everything that happened with Don Vizioso) spearheading these mutant rights stuff alongside the mutanimals is so freakin interesting instead of them just staying in the shadows all thier lives? (because after the tokka incident its clear new york at least is aware that mutants are definetly a thing and not going away anytime soon.)

I wanna see these boys have their own families. And yeah, i know lil mutant babies and the next generation isn't a new thing for this fandom but honestly? I wanna take the found family trope the hamato clan lives by and crank it up. I want their kids to be a bunch of orphans they rescued that were abandoned for one reason or another, because they all fucking know what it's like to grow up ostracized in a society that doesn't want them. They take them all in as one big group but each kid gravitates to a couple as their parental figure of choice.

The guys in general would love thier kids sooo much, you don't even know. And Do you UNDERSTAND how GOOD Leo would be at being a dad!? And Usagi would finally get to be a dad too? like openly? And Jotaro would be the most AMAZING big brother! Like he'd be bringing them little presents from his side of the portal so much. By that point I like to think he'd know that Usagi is his true father. So now at 18/19 he's not only got a mom, THREE dads, a shit ton of aunts and uncles, and now a bunch of little rescue siblings to dote on? I want that for him.

I want this so muuuuch but I have no idea how to even begin and I don't know if people would even read it or want it as much as me but I also don't really care? what's a lil physical characteristic one of your characters (or characters in general) has that just gives you serotonin to draw (ex. freckles)

HMMMMM definitely the eyes. Theres so much ways to draw them!! and its like one of the most important part of the face that you can use to effectively tell whats the general personality of this character! Like shapes is a big big big importanto part of eye shape too- like for example making a characters eyes rounder can make them look for friendly innocent or shy! While sharp fox like eyes can make them look mischievious or passionate >>:) and Not to mention EYELASHES OUGH YES eyelashes thats the topping of the cake.

Uhh to answer your question uhhhhhh i guess i like. Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh what no i totally kniw what a physical trait is im totally not lookong up physical traits right now AHA i like drawing really diverse shaped noses? Does that make sense? Basically noses that arent just. The typical anime nose. (although i draw them if im lazy or like. It fits the character themselves HAHA) Like it isnt bad to draw them but i feel like its more fun to break yourself out of that mold youknow? Like there is SOOooo mucb kinds of noses in the world dont just stick to one!! And well Because drawing the noses also really solidify the unique look of your character that could make them more recognizable and iconic!! But yeah i am aware i need to practice more on diversity on noses itself but i think im makin good progress even if it may be little by little B] tis better than nothing!!

(I don't mean to make this sound sad hdjfg but events/writing like this kind of reminds me of when I had tons more free time and really indulged a lot more in stuff every day, so when I see it on my dash nowadays it's like a little burst of free serotonin asdjgdhf. The Queen was busy cleaning up the lovely Treacherous Mansion from the events of the ball when she heard a timid voice call out to her. She brightened up immediately when she saw it was Mona.

"Oh! Hello, dear. Did you enjoy the ball..?"

She smiled fondly as Mona went on, simply happy to hear that she brightened up Evershade Valley just a bit. It could get quite lonely here...

"Its no problem at all! I'm just glad you seemed to enjoy yourself. Sorry about your luck on the party board- Oh?"

What's this? A Banshee Blossom? For her? She gently took the flower from her friend's hand and held it close.

"You're giving this to me? Are you quiet sure? Thank you so much!"

The queen took the chilly note and read over it, reading some part aloud. She felt her heart warm as she took the words to heart. It really made her smile!

nana tour is so heartwarming omg :(( its like such a good show to watch for winding down after a long day. happy it makes you happy lovely 🥹 it's literally such a serotonin booster and i love seeing our boys have a good time!! i've only watched the first 2 eps so far but i WILL be continuing it soon !!

YES IVE HEARD OF JELLY POP OMG. i didn't watch boys planet in its entirety but my cousin showed me like a lot of the songs from the show (jelly pop, over me, en garde, hot summer) AND THE SONG IS SO CATCHY !!!
