With him I just wanted to make something blue and cinnamo roll definitely fits him. Also I thought the forest washi tape behind him was a nice reference to weakness plus the bubbles

With Kotoko it was all about trying to blend black and white since that's the brand for Toni Kensa (the brand of clothes I put her on, its from Splatoon). But I didn't have much to work with

Honestly the reason the "love triangle" in lbfad works so well for me is easily because it's not completely lazy?

So many love triangles in romances are very clear cut and you can typically tell who is going to "win". Usually one pairing is written with far more care than the other, and for sure we get that with Dongfang Qingcang and Xiao Lanhua. They get the meat of the story, but regardless Changheng and Xiao Lanhua do have a really nice chemistry. When you watch them together you can easily see the alternate universe where this is a story about /their love/ There's just this genuine sweetness that aches from their early scenes together that makes it a little bit painful to watch- like I love.... the love between The Fairy and The Devil, I do. They have such great chemistry and they're so, so fun together-The difference of this cold and dark and brooding entity and the little flower spirit that charmed him is everything I could ask. It was never a question that I wanted to see them together in the end but there was still moments with Changheng that just made me go Oh, maybe it really will be him and her in the end...

then of course it doesnt happen. And I'm so happy to see my favourite duo together in the end, because they are just so good together, but its a little sad, too. I don't want Changheng to sit around with his heartbroken, I feel kind of terrible for him... and god if that isn't a better love triangle than I ever anticipated.

#Honestly Same with Danyin tbh #Like they sold the unrequited love thing so well. You just feel for her even though you know she's not the one. #The Changheng stuff fell off after the mortal arc a bit but those first 20 somthin eps really did make it so good #With lazier love triangles I often think they should have bought conflict in from something else #But with this there was moments I was like oh no... are they gonna end up together? #im posting this very late because i was sort of weary of how it came out and ended up messing w it until it was like 4am oops. #and i have plans tmrw so... oh well! i did my best and ill put it out while i can! #and i tried to make the scene match barnard's colors lol #finn's ocs #finn's art #i know i said id do more sillay stuff with the simpler screentone only style but i had a couple more of these in me #and this is the first piece im making thats like an actual part of the story too rather than just setting stuff for fun #i wanna write something to go with it too but for now ill just sort of briefly explain the context in the tags here: #barnard has a pretty bad case of OCD and his compulsions have made it difficult to make friends in the past #he was never outright bullied or anything but people just didnt really have the patience to deal with it #he has compulsions that include stuff like walking through doors until it feels right and needing things to be perfectly aligned #which in group settings has lead to people having to wait for him to finish his rituals and join them #they might find it tolerable at first but eventually they grow impatient and hes just... not invited to stuff anymore #but juno is a newer member of the guild who ends up frequenting the same library. hes also kinda a little weird #and they dont become fast friends or anything but just sort of naturally spend time in the same place #though they never plan meetups they eventually fall into a routine. around the same time theyd just both be at the library #and read next to each other. and maybe talk a bit. and eventually they end up walking back to the guildhall together #since theyre going to the same place after all. and juno always waits for barnard outside the door #eventually barnard asks if this bothers him. juno kinda just tells him 'of course it does' without any malice or anything. just a statement #barnard is surprised and apologizes and juno says not to. but the next day juno doesnt show up at the usual time. #barnard assumes hes committed somekinda more by bringing it up. he ends up staying there late reading to get his mind off it & not ruminate #but when he leaves juno is in fact still waiting for him down the hall (see pic) having collected a bunch of books literally abt ocd #he fell asleep bc barnard stayed later than expected. and hes an eepy guy generally. and also one very bad at expressing himself #but now barnard gets that juno's 'of course it [bothers me]' had the implication of 'but its worth it' which no friend has previously done. #and from the interaction juno was also able to understand that this isn't something barnard just does for the hell of it so. he studies. #and checks a bunch of stuff out because he thinks it could help his friend too (theres ocd workbooks and such- i remember working w them) #and thats the point where they became more ''friends'' than ''pleasant library acquaintances'' #from there on they also do get into juno's problems. whole other bag of worms. but this specific scene is more about bernard from his pov #sorry about when i said briefly explain. i lied </3 #but compared to the whole sequence im picturing its brief so shhh

So Lottie has similar abilities to Danny in The Shining. premonitions, etc. she “shines”

Tai (and maybe Laura Lee?) also has supernatural abilities. I say maybe Laura Lee bc in The Shining, Danny’s mentor also “shines”. Laura Lee is definitely a bit of a mentor to Lottie… but Laura Lee would have a Catholic™️ explanation for Lottie’s abilities

Tai would repress her abilities the most, being as rational as she is

I think Shauna is the most like Jack in The Shining (but not really bc that's such an insult to her)… I can see how the hotel’s evil vibes would impact her the most because she holds on to a lot of resentment

ok, so how did the girlies end up at the Overlook hotel?

Like Danny, Lottie had an imaginary friend as a child (who turns out to be her adult self, just like Danny's friend "Tony" is actually adult Danny). Recently, she's been seeing this "imaginary" friend again in her dreams, and seeing a strange symbol... (I really gotta draw this so I can draw Simone Kessell as a cool vision)

I was thinking that during the Nationals qualifying game, Lottie has a bad feeling about what would happen should they go to Nationals... so she interferes and stops Jackie from scoring (I guess she'd be close enough to block the shot)

Everyone is mad at Lottie, and her rich ass dad decides to fund a training trip for the team to make it up to the school/team. He gets a good deal to send the team to the Overlook hotel for a week during the beginning of the time period where the hotel is typically closed to guests (the hotel would have to have a good soccer field in this AU, but also bc its up in the mountains they could do altitude training there).

The coaches would have to tend to the boiler room / perform Jack's caretaking duties from The Shining while they're staying there. I think Shauna would help out, and she'd find the scrapbook documenting the hotel's murderous history. As a journal girl herself, she'd be interested in the scrapbook and the hotel's history (like Jack, that's how she'd get corrupted by the evil hotel).

I could see Van also taking an interest in the hotel's history, because she loves a good story. She'd drag Taissa around the hotel to explore and try to uncover its history.

Of course, the snow storm from The Shining would come early, unexpectedly trapping them all at the hotel. Shining shenanigans ensue, etc.

Like Jack, Misty would sabotage their attempts to escape the hotel bc she's having so much fun with the girls... she'd dump the fuel to the snowmobile, etc.

One of my least favourite Tsumugi misconceptions is that he's useless at being an idol. He's very good actually! It's pointed out multiple times in various stories by characters who are considered the top tier idols that Tsumugi is very good at his job, he's just also awkward and a bit clumsy off stage.

yea ! alot of misconceptions tend to stem from people getting a taste of the character in a certain context and then assume theyd be the same in different contexts when thats rarely the case. like just look at tsumugis romancing cruise performance That shit changed me forever

i do understand why this happens though, or why small misconceptions are rather frequent and inadvertently lead to mischaracterizations at times. often times we just take a surface level view at things and, naturally, observe what it is we see and compare it to things we already know. like i said in my last post tsumugi is bashful, not shy, but if people only see his more awkward demeanor around certain people theyre obviously going to assume thats the characteristic he has because thats what most of us are familiar with

i dont want people to feel insecure in their portrayals though !! q__q and youre free to be as self-indulgent as you want when u create ur little crafts as im sure many of us are using these characters as a means of our own self-expression. god knows i do it! but is it also not just as fun to truly dig into the character and to try figuring them out from an unbiased perspective ? again its why i dont want to put them into boxes!!! theres so much to them and by only focusing on one or two of their characteristics you are doing them a disservice!! youre free to exclusively PORTRAY your favorite aspects ofc, create for you and not for others! but i just want their complexities to be acknowledged and recognized 💔💔 though thats just one of my selfish little desires
