actually you know what i do think some hotd fans need to go outside. i don't think making a silly little post about how the shipper part of the fandom acting like a Toxic Moment between their fave relationship destroys the show (particularly when half that ship is a wife murdering war criminal already) means i deserve to be called stupid or a "westerosi january 6er" (whatever that means)
like have people forgotten how to interact with media normally? without shipping brainrot? can you touch grass? the entire fucking point of the show is that everyone sucks in some way and war leaves everyone's hands bloody. the twilightification of this show wrt the team jacob/team edward behaviour means that if you're even slightly critical of the blacks or show a tiny bit of sympathy towards the greens then you're immediately on team green and deserve to be called stupid. i guess.
and i know i'm not stupid! i think it's absurd to compare me making a single post to people storming the capitol building! i like posting memes when people try to shit on me but frankly i've had enough. daemon targaryen won't see your replies defending him, but REAL LIFE PEOPLE will see you calling them mean names. think about that perhaps xo

reborn au thoughts on [plasticity SPOILERS]
so i mentioned this big-ish spoiler is another post, but, at some point in the near-ish future of plasticity, tori will learn she functionally can't die. so some ways i want to play with this in reborn au include:
i think interacting with the shinigami should have consequences. i think it should be an experience that makes you confront your own mortality. i WISH i'd decided this slightly earlier bc i would have writtent the scenw ith tori, obtio, and zetsu slightly differently. but. meh.
anyway!! i also decided that seeing the shinigami is what really pushed orochimaru over the edge in his obsession with immortality. and tori obviously is interested in shinigami-related jutsu because in mutagenicity, she would like to know if she's still immortal or not. so i want to him and tori to have a few conversations about the shinigami, edo tensei, etc and have him be very dramatically be like "this will CHANGE YOU FOREVER" while tori is like "#not like other girls"
she also has a bizarre relationship with her own mortality. "That ninja could kill you in his sleep, tiny genin" COULD he, though? sure he could MAIM her, but---
i think the eventual fallout with danzo involves team 4 very carefully maneuvering him to summon the shinigami. it's very much itachi being like "we have to use force to make him do what we want" while tori is like "no no, if we just offer him what he wants, he'll go for it and perish under his own hubris." but their powers COMBINED they can back him into a desperate little corner where he thinks he can make a power grab this way <3
(something i need to pepper in more is i want the danzo-minato dynamic to be super tense. minato tried to force him into retirement and danzo was like NO and now danzo is constantly undermining him. he thinks minato's leadership style is too weak/forgiving and he let other shinobi villages take too much in their peace treaties. so itachi SORT OF has minato's blessing to just get rid of him, but also all those conversations were incredibly oblique and minato never officially was like "oh yeah, murder." he thought itachi meant he had a way to distract him. T_T)
anyway! so i think this does get kind of out of tori's hands and danzo attempts to feed her to the shinigami. and it just. it does NOT work. so the shinigami takes him and everyone else nearby instead.
tori trying to explain how she's still alive: okay well CLEARLY he didn't have very good control of the jutsu. i just got lucky, i guess?
and everyone has to accept this as the explanation because there is no other logical explanation. and even then tori is obviously linked to danzo's sudden spiral into bad decisions and death, no one can prove a causal link, because he did all that shit himself. what could tori have possibly done? she was restrained, and knowing her track record, her chakra was shut down somehow.
and now tori knows she's still an immortal freak!!! also this does wonders for itachi's opinion of her

batfam x solar: I likd the idea of ithe HPSC someone stole some of supes dna and used it to make izuku. I also had the idea of izuku's origins here being like one of the big twists of batman beyond "SPOILERS" That the MC Terry McGinis is actually batman's son due to Amanda Waller implanting nanotech into his father without his knowledge to tturn his reproductive dna into Bruce's so the resulting child would be his, she did this to ensure there would always be a batman)
The original Solar is heavily inspired by Conner and CADMUS so this checks out

Scared to lose you (Yakou Furio x G/N!Reader)
Tumblr media
This will take place at the end of chapter 2! The reader is a few years younger than Yakou, just imagine around 2 or 3 years younger than whatever Yakou is, the reader also takes Yuma's place in doing the investigation in chapter 2, and the stuff in chapter 3 doesn't happen. Also I will mention stuff from later chapters, one being Vivia's forte and another thing is a spoiler about Yakou's past! And this will have a fluffy ending! I hope I did alright with this and I hope you all enjoy it!
Summary: After finishing the investigation at the Aetheria Academy, Y/N gets an earful from Yakou. But when a fatal incident occurs, Yakou is terrified that he lost Y/N forever.
Y/N couldn't look up as Yakou was basically yelling at them for again getting into another case and being in trouble with the peacekeepers.
Of course the other detectives tried to defend Y/N, saying that they didn't have a voice but to help with the investigation and save a girl who was about to be arrested for something she didn't do, but Yakou was not having any of it.
"And the one perthon you defied and piththed off wath nonother than martina electro, who ith the vithe director of the amaterathu corporathion peathekeeperth! when yomi findth out about thith! I'm tho angry i'm twalkin' with a lithp!" He exclaimed, his face was a bit red.
"Chief, what Y/N did was right, they saved someone who was wrongly accused. God knows what Martina would have done to the girl if they didn't help find out the truth." Desuhiko said as he gave Y/N sympathetic look.
"Still! Who knowth what yomi will do to uth when..."
But he was cut off when Y/N turned away and was about to run out towards the exit of the submarine, but then a pipe burst above them and caused them to fall to the ground as the water rushed in, another pipe following and the water started to fill up the submarine.
"A-Are you serious?!" Desuhiko exclaimed as he looked around in a panic.
The other detectives looked around alarmed by everything that was happening.
"Y/N!" Yakou yelled as he tried to reach out to them, but an explosion tore through the side of the submarine, causing more and more water to flood in.
"YAKOU!" Y/N screamed before another explosion occurred, and then everything went dark.
◇◇◇
When Yakou first came to, he heard a voice speaking to him, but with how faint the voice was, it was hard to tell what it was saying.
"Come on Chief, wake up!"
Opening his eyes, he faintly saw Desuhiko and Halara kneeling next to him as he woke up.
"Good, your finally awake. We found you lying next to the river so me and Desuhiko carried you to the emergency " Halara said as they helped Yakou sit up.
"Halara, Desuhiko, your both alright!" The Chief sight with relief.
"What about the others? Yuma, Fubuki, Vivia? Y/N?" He asked as he looked around.
He was happy to see Yuma and Fubuki, who were watching over Vivia, who was laying down a bit aways from him, most likely using his forte.
But when he didn't see Y/N around at all, he began to panic.
"Where's Y/N? Where are they?" He asked as he stood up only to feel light headed and almost fell, but fortunately Halara helped him sit back down.
"Easy there Chief, you had a nasty bump on the head earlier when the submarine was being attacked." Desuhiko said as he sat down on a box nearby, a concerned look on his face.
"Vivia is using his astral projection forte to look around for them, I'm sure he'll find something soon."
Yakou hoped so, he couldn't loose Y/N.
He lost his wife four years prior all because of Amaterasu Corporation, he couldn't bear to lose anyone else he cared about to that damn corporation again.
That's when Vivia awoke, which caught everyone's attention.
"Did you find Y/N?" Yuma asked.
The green and black haired detective shook, a grim look was on his face, which gave Yakou a feeling of dread.
No...
"They have to still be alive, I refuse to believe they are dead..." He said as he fought back tears.
No no no, he couldn't lose them, not like how he lost his late wife!
"I'm sure they are still alive, we can find them!" Yuma said as he said with a determined look as Fubuki nodded.
"Yeah! I'm sure if we work together, we can find Y/N!"
Smiling, Yakou felt a bit of hope hearing the determination of the others.
They will find Y/N and bring them home!
◇◇◇
Y/N sighed as they sat and watched out the window of the café that was close to where the base was.
After the explosion of the submarine, they woke up on the side of the river and spent hours trying to find their friends, but unfortunately, they couldn't find any of them.
'Am I really the only survivor? This is all my fault.' They thought as they felt tears form, but quickly wiped them away as to not draw attention.
But as they pulled their hand away from their eyes, someone walked by pretty quickly, but they did notice them looking around pretty frantically.
At first they didn't know who it was but they saw a small bit of purple under the bucket hat that they wore.
'Yuma?'
Quickly leaving some money to pay for their coffee, they rushed out of the caf and hurried after the person.
Now that they got a better look at the person, they saw the familiar rain cape that Yuma wore.
"Yuma!"
The boy turned around and as soon as he saw them, a big smile spread across his face.
"Y/N!"
The younger detective ran over and almost tackled Y/N into a hug.
"You are alive! I knew you survived! The others will be so happy, especially Chief!"
Tears started to form again hearing those words.
Everyone was alive!
"Come on, they were all worried about you." Yuma said as he grabbed their hand and pulled them along down the street back to wherever the others were hiding.
◇◇◇
Yakou paced around as time went by, growing more and more concerned.
'What if they don't find Y/N, the last time I saw them I was yelling at them, I don't want that to be their last memory of me, and I don't want that to be the last memory I have of them...' he thought.
But as he was deep in thought, he didn't notice Yuma enter the building with Y/N.
"Huh, I guess the others are still out looking for you. I'll give you and Chief some privacy to talk." The purple haired boy said before leaving the building, which only left Y/N with Yakou.
Slowly approaching the man, they felt their heart racing in their chest as they raised their hand and tapped him on the shoulder since whenever he was thinking, he doesn't really hear anything.
"Yakou?"
This startled the chief as he spun around fast, raising his hands in defense, but when he realized that it was them, tears started to fall down his cheeks.
"Y/N..." he mumbled as he cupped their face in his hands, wiping their tears with his thumbs.
"You're alive... you're really alive. Thank god!"
The man then pulled Y/N into his embrace, so happy that he didn't lose them.
"I'm sorry, this was all my fault that the base is gone, and I almost got all of us killed..." the younger detective sobbed as they buried their face in the crook of Yakou's neck.
"No, it's okay. I'm just so glad you're alive. When I didn't see you with the others, I was so scared that you died."
Pulling away, Yakou looked down at Y/N with a loving look on his face before his eyes flickered down to their lips.
'Now or never.' He thought before leaning down, pressing his lips to Y/N's.
He had never felt this way about anyone since his wife's death until now.
Yakou was glad he found love again after being alone for so long, and he's gonna make sure he doesn't lose it again.

Prethinker
🧠Plans EVERYTHING
🧠"I'm going into the Lost River, which means I'll want to fill at least 2 lockers with titanium in my Cyclops to build a base by the Cove Tree. I'll bring the materials for a Moonpool and a Thermal Plant as well as all the interior modules. I'll stop at Lifepod 2 to grab the Cyclops Depth Module MK1 and also explore some wrecks in the Grand Reef and Underwater Islands for PRAWN Suit drill and grappling arm fragments. Once I get to the Lost River I'm going to..."
🧠"...and this Stasis Rifle will work to keep Warpers away for only a few seconds, but it will be enough time to..."
🧠"...perform this glitch speedrunners use to get access to this Purple Tablet hidden out of bounds, which will save me an ion cube as well as a trip to..."
Derrick Man
🛢️Does everything in the most practical, efficient way possible
🛢️Not afraid to hunt down a few Leviathans if they get in the way
🛢️Likes the PRAWN Suit quite a bit
Deep Diver
🫧Refuses to use the wildlife for food and water
🫧"This creature was probably inspired from [sea creature] in the real world."
🫧Will build a base with a LOT of glass and windows. She wants to watch all the wildlife swim around
🫧I feel like if you asked him his favorite creature or biome, he'd say all of them
Rainmaker
⛈️Scared of everything. Even screamed when she saw her first stalker
⛈️Refuses to explore at night because it scares her
⛈️When she saw a Reaper while trying to explore the Aurora, she had to pause her game and cry a bit internally
⛈️Really loves the creatures though and will make a massive aquarium in her base
Land Acquisition Architect
🚦LOVES base building. A little too much maybe?
🚦He especially likes doing it on creative mode where he's not restrained by power or hull integrity
🚦Still is the guy who builds a massive base in survival mode and like CONSTANTLY expands it even though it's already like a quarter the size of the biome
🚦Completely disorganized storage rooms
Gatekeeper
⚔️Has already killed every Leviathan in the game armed with a Seamoth and a Thermoblade
⚔️Builds a base in the most dangerous places JUST out of spite
⚔️Beats the game really fast, even for her first playthrough. Like... less than 10 hours fast
Witch Hunter
🔱He doesn't play it
Public Relations Representative
🧱Basically Buck except he gets scared of the Leviathans
🧱His base, is, erm... it sure is a base of all time {it's a complete architectural nightmare}
🧱Crashes the Cyclops into walls constantly
🧱Has an irrational fear of Mesmers. No, I cannot explain this oddly specific headcanon
Bellringer
🔔"Affectionately" insults the creatures and tells them to shut up
🔔Hurts his Seamoth so he can hurt aggressive fauna while he's driving
🔔Otherwise he's a pretty chill and normal player
Multislacker
🥪Has a little drive for exploration, but not really
🥪Mostly just clears the game and doesn't care enough to find out more about it
🥪"Oh... I'm supposed to cure a disease. That's a... lot of effort. Could you, like, just beat the game for me and I'll watch?"
Mouthpiece
☎️Thinks it's fascinating technology has come far enough for a game like this to exist, though she doesn't actually care much for Subnautica itself since it's just not her style
☎️She did find making small bases and exploring pretty fun, though
☎️Struggles a lot to control the game since gaming doesn't come naturally to her
☎️Likes to keep small aquariums
Major Player
🎹LOVES the audio and the ambience of the game, it's super immersive for him
🎹Not necessarily scared of Leviathans, but he's had some jumpscare moments with them
🎹He's the kind of guy to set his Cyclops on fire just to listen to Abandon Ship
🎹Loves exploring and just wandering around since the game is SO immersive for him
Firestarter
🔥"I, uh... I'm sorry, Peeper... I have to eat..."
🔥"Where am I?"
🔥The ceiling above him might get a little singed if he gets jumpscared
🔥"...Graham? Do you know where I am?"
🔥"What's the Ecological Dead Zone...?"
Plutocrat
🌑Doesn't really know how to play games, so he gets frustrated pretty quickly because he can't figure out how to do what he wants to do
🌑Starts thinking about a realistic survival scenario and often tries to solve problems that aren't even in the game {such at the bends, keeping skin dry, ETC}
🌑Doesn't care much for the story until he does after it FINALLY catches his interest like halfway through
Treekiller
🪵Finds very interesting solutions to his problems...
🪵Violence. He chooses violence.
🪵Sometimes purposefully kills innocent fish with his vehicles for laughs
🪵Genuinely thinks if he had Kharaa that he'd essentially be able to just walk it off
Chainsaw Consultant
🪚Who let this man play a horror game?
🪚Well, he's gonna be plenty traumatized by it
🪚He likes the peace and quiet of the safer biomes and will probably just sit with an observatory and vibe, but the sounds of aggressive fauna scares him a lot
Featherbedder
💤Falls asleep at the keyboard a lot
💤Even if it's high intensity like a Reaper chase, they will just. Suddenly fall asleep
💤The Cove Tree makes her especially sleepy though
💤Not really scared of anything and finds the story very interesting, just finds it difficult to sit through a gaming session without falling asleep
Pacesetter
👟Tries to beat the game as quickly as possible
👟"I'm not scared of Reapers!" 10 seconds later... "AHHH!!! FLINT THERE'S A REAPER CHASING ME!!!"
👟VERY dramatic about EVERY encounter. Example: "And then the Bonesharks started swarming and chasing me and biting my Seamoth! I was able to scan the Cyclops Engine Fragments and get away by just barely!" and all that happened was a single Boneshark bit his Seamoth and then swam away.
👟Example B: He'll see a Reaper in the corner of the screen swimwing away, he leaves, and then will try to describe it like this:
{WARNING: LOUD NOISES AND JUMPSCARE}

Garden Of Stars
Star Holder lore :)
Spoilers (ish).
TW: Nightmares, Fire
Soft sobbing carried into the night. Fire crackled all around a trembling child. He curled further on himself, face buried in his knees. The room was black with char and cloudy with smoke.
Swiftly, the bedroom door burst open.
“Oh, no,” a gentle voice sighed. A strong gust rushed through the room, forcing the fires down until they were snuffed entirely.
“Clipsy,” the voice came again, “darling, look at me.” The shivering child peeked up into the smiling face of his mother. Dark eyes crinkled at the edges.
“Another night terror?” She seated herself on the edge of the bed, unbothered by the puff of burnt feathers that jumped out of the gaping holes in the mattress. Sniffling miserably, the fledgling god threw himself at his mother.
“There now,” she rubbed at his back with one hand. Three arms wrapped around Eclipse, carefully pulling him up into her embrace.
Rising, the graceful goddess left the ashen room behind. She carried her trembling son through the long palace halls, humming soothingly. When they arrived to the kitchen, she seated him right on the edge of the counter.
“I think we’ll have something warm,” she said quietly, “to ease your nerves.” Eclipse’s sobbing had subsided. He nodded, wiping at his raw cheeks.
The goddess nodded in kind. She set to work, warming milk over the stove.
“Would you like to tell me about your nightmare?” She glanced over her shoulder at her son. He shook his head instantly, fingers digging into his singed tunic.
“Alright,” she nodded, “then how about a story?” Her smile was warm and her posture relaxed. So unlike Eclipse’s father, who always seemed tense. Eclipse shifted, hands fidgeting.
“Umm,” he looked at his feet, swinging them as he shyly spoke, “will you tell the star story?”
“The star story?” Eclipse’s mother paused her stirring, brow furrowing, “darling, so many of our stories are about stars.”
“The... one with the mother,” Eclipse supplied, “the big mother.” Understanding sparked in obsidian eyes.
“Ah, that. They call it The Myth of Origin,” she said gently, “but when my mother told it to me, she called it The Star Garden.”
“Garden?” Eclipse echoed, head tilting. Eclipse’s mother hummed, carefully scooping honey from a jar with a wooden spoon.
“Yes,” she nodded, “my mother liked to think of the sky as a garden. And the Star Mother- our creator- was the gardener. She planted all of the world’s stars when the universe was just darkness. She brought us light, and warmth and breath.” Eclipse stared at his mother in wonder, mouth open.
“For you, my little flame,” Eclipse’s mother offered Eclipse a steaming mug. He took it, and began to drink. Hissing, he pulled the cup from his lips.
“Ith too hoth,” he delcared. She laughed.
“You should learn to be patient,” she said gently, “actually... that was an important lesson for the first gods, too.” She leaned against the counter and conjured a small breeze to cool her son’s warm milk.
“The first gods had to learn?” Eclipse peeked at his mother, “but didn’t the Star Mother make them to lead? Why didn’t she just make them with the knowledge that they needed?”
“Oh, what a question,” she hummed, tapping dark claws against her own mug, “I’ll tell you the full story, how about that?” Eclipse nodded eagerly. Chuckling, the goddess fixed her gaze on the window. Her eyes traced the shape of the half moon in the sky.
“Long, long ago,” she began, “long before the first gods. Long before this world was even a thought... There were two stars. These two stars were bigger than all the rest, and they could see each other from across the heavens.”
“And oh, how they longed to meet. But stars don’t move. They don’t talk. They are just there. Full of magic and love and unable to do a thing about it.”
“Ah, that’s... not important,” she laughed, “I’m just terribly fond of romance. Anyway, these two stars. One day, they DID move. They had grown so large that they’d begun to pull towards one another. And they inevitably crashed together.” Eclipse gasped quietly.
“Yes, it was quite explosive,” his mother nodded, “the collision was so powerful it shook the whole sky. And the magic the stars released took hold and over time, that became the very world we live in.”
“Those two stars, when they merged. They became the Star Mother. An incredible being who could create stars. And that’s exactly what she did; she spent all her time tending to her star garden.”
“For a long time, she did not even notice the world that was growing right beneath her garden. But one day, she looked down and saw that the world had grown full of life. Curious, she crept even closer. But not too close. She didn’t want to frighten the little beings.” Eclipse’s mug was empty now, and his mother set it in the sink. She scooped him up and rocked him in her arms.
“The Star Mother loved to watch the little beings. She loved to see them grow and learn and live. But over time she noticed that the beings were struggling. The world was plagued by chaos. War and disease and other terrible things. Things that broke her heart to see.”
“The Star Mother wanted so badly to help her little friends. But she was so large and so strong- she was afraid she might hurt them instead. So, she searched her garden for the strongest star there. And when she found it, she broke it into pieces. Each of these pieces, she enveloped within the different elements to imbue them with their power.”
“The first fragment was set ablaze, and the next dropped into the sea. And the third was buried in the soil. The last was placed within a swirling wind storm. And there the fragments stayed, until they began to take the shapes of people.”
“The first to emerge came from the fire. But the Star Mother saw that he was weak and his flame was flickering. So, to make his fire the strongest it could be, she placed him into the blazing sun. She told him to remain there, grow and frolic. Until he and the sun were bonded so strongly that his flame would never die. And it was so.”
“The next to emerge burst from the windstorm. He recoiled from the bright lights, and the Star Mother feared he too would not be strong enough to lead the mortals. So, she took him to the farthest edge of the sky. There, she steeped him in the abyss. And she told him to remain and grow strong in the the darkness. Until he could become one with the shadows themselves. And it was so.”
“Next, the fragment from the seas emerged. It brought with it a terrible tsunami. The fragment had grown in the turbulent seas and it knew only their volatile churning. Fearing this god would be too harsh for the fragile mortals, the Star Mother placed him up into the full moon’s light. And she told him to remain there and rest. Until he could learn to be gentle as the light of the moon. And it was so.”
“Finally, the last fragment emerged. It rose from the soil and greeted its mother with pride. Indeed, it was quite strong. But the Star Mother feared it would not be on equal footing with the other gods, if she did not bless it with another gift, too. So, she took it up to her favorite star, and she placed it there. And she told it to remain there and learn to create. Until it was sure there was nothing it could not make. And it was so.”
“Now, all of the gods were strong and blessed with great gifts. So, the Star Mother sent them down to the world to care for her beloved mortals.” Eclipse’s mother sighed. “And for a time, things were well. But one day, the Star Mother looked down upon the world and to her horror she saw that things had gotten much, much worse. So, she immediately called her children back to the garden.”
“She looked at the gods with a burning gaze. ‘What have you done? I sent you there to care for these mortals, but you’ve cause such suffering’, she said. And the gods cowered from her.”
“The sun god said ‘please forgive me, mother! I tried very hard to do good, but the mortals did not trust me’. And the other gods agreed. ‘I wanted to held the mortals, but they were frightened of me,’ the god of darkness cried. And all of the gods had similar grievances.”
“The Star Mother, seeing that she had not been as successful as she hoped, decided that she would need to grant her children further gifts in order to help them understand humans.”
“So, the Star Mother reached down and carefully took up an animal for each of the gods. She blessed each animal with wisdom and strength and one sacred purpose; to help the gods lead the mortals.”
“Then, the Star Mother sent these creatures back down to the world and told them to learn about the humans and bring back a gift that would help the gods become closer with them. And it was so.”
“The first familiar came bounding up to the sun and cried ‘sun god, sun god, I’ve brought you a gift!’ Excitedly, the sun god took up the gift. ‘What is it?’ He asked. ‘I’ve brought you the gift of honesty,’ the familiar said, ‘I walked among the humans for many years and I have learned that humans can tell many lies. With this gift, you will always know if someone has lied to you. And you will be able to compel them to tell the truth! So that you will always know what the humans need most.’ The sun god cried, ‘oh, thank you familiar, thank you. Surely with this gift, I can better lead the humans!’ And he was right.”
“Next, a familiar came sauntering into the moon’s light. ‘Moon god, moon god,’ the familiar sang, ‘I have brought you a gift.’ The moon god stirred from his slumber and took up the gift. He yawned, ‘what is it?’ ‘I have brought you the gift of dreams,’ the familiar purred, ‘I have walked among the mortals many years and I have learned they all have dreams. With this gift, you will be able to enter their dreams and understand them.’ ‘Oh, thank you, familiar,’ the moon god said, ‘surely, with this gift, I can better lead the humans.’ And he was right.”
“The next familiar came creeping into the darkness. It whispered, ‘god of darkness, I have brought you a gift.’ The dark god took up the gift gratefully and asked, ‘what is it?’ The familiar said, ‘I have brought you the gift of desire. I have walked among the humans many years and I have learned that they are driven by the things they wish for. With this gift you will always know what a person desires, the moment their eyes meet yours. This gift will help you grant the wishes of all the humans you meet.’ The dark god nodded. ‘Thank you, familiar, thank you. I am sure this gift will help me lead the humans.’ And he was right.”
“The last familiar came soaring up to the star and called ‘star god, star god, I’ve brought you a gift.’ The star god eager took up the gift, ‘what is it?’ The familiar fluttered about, ‘I’ve brought you the gift of empathy! I flew among the mortals for many years. And I have learned they have all kinds of emotions that drive them. With this gift, you will know those emotions the moment you lay eyes upon them!’ The star god smiled. ‘Oh, thank you, familiar. Surely with this gift, I can better lead the humans.’ And he was right.”
“Now, with a better understand of mortals,” Eclipse’s mother carried him back through the halls, soothingly rubbing his back, “the gods returned to the world. And to their mother’s delight, they lead the humans into an era of peace.” Eclipse yawned softly. His mother opened the door to a spare room. She set him in the chair before fetching fresh pajamas for him.
“And things were good,” she said quietly, wiping soot from he son’s face.
“Until the gods wanted to retire, right?” Eclipse yawned softly. His mother smiled.
“Right. Until the gods wanted to retire. Then, they came to their Star Mother, and they asked her when they would be able to return to their homes and play again. The Star Mother felt terribly sad. She knew the work would never end; the mortals would always make more mortals to look after. And so, she offered them the only solution she could.”
“She said, ‘if you wish to retire, you will have to give up your immortality.’ Of course the gods were frightened. They demanded to know why.”
“Cause we needed the star fragments, right?” Eclipse buttoned his tunic all by himself. His mother smiled proudly, scooping him up.
“That’s right. The pieces of the star are what make us strong. Without them, we could not use our gifts.” She carefully tucked her son into bed, “but I think that’s enough story for the night, hm?” She kissed his forehead tenderly.
“Nooo,” Eclipse whined, latching onto his mother, “don’t leave yet.” She laughed, kneeling beside the bed.
“Clipsy, we need to sleep.”
“Just one more story?” He grinned at her hopefully. Sighing, the goddess flopped onto the bed beside her son. She grinned at him.
“Alright. One more.”
