I forgot to post this like a month ago when i actually saw spiderverse, so whoops. (ID under the break)
[image ID: the doofesmirtz nickel meme and it says “if i had a nickel for every time i saw a movie that used the multiverse to explore how the younger generation copes with suffering differently from the previous generation and specifically looks at how that affects POC and people who are othered from those closest to them, while using the complexity of parent-kid relationships to emphasise the otherness and has a character with a motif surrounding black holes and bagels and was also one of the most phenomenal pieces of media i’ve ever witnessed, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.” end image ID]

i wish people understood that lawlu isn't grumpy x sunshine
lawlu is seeing each other at their most vulnerable, having an unbreakable mutual trust, and standing as equals.
grumpy x sunshine is the bonus. not the center of their relationship

received approval for my research into trans sex ed, just have to make very minor edits, but a comment from someone on the board was thinking about changing the title since I used the word “transsexual” in it. They said it could continue the same pathologization I seek to counter in my research.
I’m a bit troubled. I chose this word with intention as reclamation of the word has largely been because of how “dirty” it has become from decades of cis people using that term for us. The board member said using “transgender” would be better to not alienate people, but the term “transgender” was made with the intention to be a more respectable term than “transsexual”. Words can be inherently alienating, and even words based out of a need for inclusion can have their own connotations attached to them that reveal even more barriers.
I chose transsexual for my title because while my research aims to include trans people who have not or chose not to transitioned, I believe the way I’ve seen “transsexual” being reclaimed now is by countering the idea of a linear transition. I believe anyone can call themselves a transsexual, because no single trans persons view of a transition is the same. Some of us are done at social transitions, some of us are not. Further, I know the word is used by older trans people as it is a term they are more comfortable with, but also I wanted to examine through the use of transsexual just how and what we medicalize about our transitions. Are pap smears, birth control, and access to HIV medication not as important to the transitioning journey as HRT and surgery?
Still, I want to examine if this word can truly be alienating, or at the least if we are not at a place where seeing a title like “Transsexual Sex Ed” incites the idea that the guide is only for medically transitioned trans people. I would love to know if non transitioned trans people feel alienated or included with the word “transsexual”, or do you not care? Would you feel alienated with the term being used within a research study, even if the study seeks to aim non transitioned trans people within the project?
These are all questions I’m thinking about since receiving this comment. I chose this word with intention and with the understanding that it carries a large weight, and Im not sure how I feel getting this comment from someone who is not trans. It is understandable, but I still feel troubled overall by the problem it poses. I also know this is ultimately my decision to change the title, and it being intentionally controversial was my intention as well.
Let me know what yall think if yall have any thoughts!

Unpopular opinion but I kind of hate posts making fun of “instagram poetry.”
Like I get that the people making them are thinking about soulless marketing or whatever, but I feel like assuming the thoughts and intentions put into a poem are inherently fake just because it’s short and poorly written (in your opinion) is a big oversimplification.
I just knew kids in high school who had/still have poetry accounts that had some poems that could fall under the “instagram poetry,” definition and like, they weren’t getting book deals or even a lot of attention, they were just expressing themselves. And yeah, maybe they were doing so in a simplistic style that’s gotten semi-popular, but like… so what?
I’m not saying you have to like that type of poetry by any means, just that maybe your frustration should be pointed more towards the media industries only promoting whatever they think is the safest bet, and less at the artists themselves and the people that enjoy their work.

I just recently picked up twitter to follow a few people (read, found and shook out the rotting desolate account I made a year ago and immediately forgot about), and I noticed your account was suspended. Do you have another place that you moved to or did you just jump the twitter ship entirely?
I was quote unquote "forced" to make a twitter account by my peers so i could start building a furry empire. Even before the Muskapocalypse i thought it was a cespool of degeneracy (the bad kind) and i soon as the pestering stopped i dumped it. i do have an account for the idle lurking tho

My two cents on THAT scene in Oppenheimer (cause I'm seeing a LOOOT of discourse around it) as a Hindu - I literally don't care lmao. I eat up anything that combines Christianity and sex, and I'd be a hypocrite if I were to do the opposite when it comes to my own religion. In this house we don't discriminate against religious blasphemy.

Today I got scammed by an Instagram ad and I didn't notice until I got the checkout email and the mailto was wrong. I did my due diligence and reported the ad and informed the real company (Unique Vintage), then I sheepishly closed my bank card (shout out to the wonderful USAA employee for not judging me). I made a scam alert Insta Story and then immediately got another, different scam advert with the exact same scam but spoofing a different site (Killstar).
I might be done with Instagram as a platform. It seems to be swiftly going the way of Facebook when it comes to scams and incessant advertising of the same things over and over. I almost never feel like posting art there. The only problem is that I have actual friends on Insta that I stay in contact with and like seeing the art of.
I may just have to consciously change the way I interact with the app, and see if that mitigates the problem. (Also, I shouldn't make any monetary decisions with a migraine hangover.)

Ya boy's deleted/locked himself out of every social media except for Tumblr. It won! It fucking won! Don't forget you're here forever!
#(and youtube and discord im not a monk)#It's the way exploitative content algorithms are easily circumvented. and the rigorous dash curation. and my frens:-)#it's a shame bc social media is like... useful for meeting ppl and accessing good creative works and genuinely worthwhile stuff#but i guess now I'm gonna have to go outside for that kinda stuff#can't hurt to try#nick.txt#if not for the gruesome app-ification of regular life (i need an app to access my fucking washing machine) i wouldve sincerely switched to#using a flip phone#and just kept my computer as a way to access the Webs#the webs arent inherently negative! theyre such a good tool! i just have brainworms as-is and its all DESIGNED to make them worse#i read so many books before i got a phone. and tbf. that was ALSO when the mental illness hit. which was unrelated.#so it's not ALL just because im always on that damn phone#but still#so many hours i lose on fucking reddit of all things. 4 hours watching instagram reels and i retained absolutely fuck all#and no roadblocks i set for myself (timers and uninstalling the apps and everything) are enough#i cant keep doing this dude. im gonna be 20 next year. i miss *books*. I miss writing and drawing and going outside just to be outside#i AM genuinely sad at how not having instagram will make having a social life in uni actually harder lmao but we stay silly#if i die and god shows me how many hours i spent on twitter and the number has more than two digits im gonna get so depressed ill die twice

You are literally psychoanalyzing and diagnosing a FICTIONAL BLUE HEDGEHOG with REAL LIFE MENTAL MENTAL HEALTH DISORDERS based on DRAWN IMAGES AND WORDS ON A PAGE.
"Self righteous" is not a mental disorder but go off 😬
I'm using this ask to express an unpopular opinion: I don't like diagnosing characters. It's already a little iffy when people headcanon a character as autistic/with ADHD/with BPD with little to no evidence, but that comes from a place of love and projection so whatever, do your thing. But it's both annoying and damaging to call a character "sociopath" or "narcissistic" as an insult. Those are real mental disorders whose symptoms go beyond "being a prick" or "being arrogant". Those are things neurotypical people can be just fine. It's like saying "I'm soooo OCD X3" because you like to keep things in order, and not because you're plagued by terrible intrusive thoughts.
I specifically refrained from calling IDW Sonic a sociopath/narcissist. He doesn't even fit many of the criteria! And I'm not going to twist the narrative to insult people with Cluster B disorders.
He's just a self righteous prick, and anyone could be like that :p

twitter adding a massive amount of completely random (and often negative or upsetting) tweets to the for you page and removing the context for why relevant tweets are there and instagram actually removing posts from your feed after you've seen them so it can say "you're all caught up" and show you posts from people you don't follow have rendered both almost unusable
