Frank + his relationship with World Destroyer as the Parachutes opener.
"That would be the normal thing to do, is to release it and then find out what people are thinking, and then go out and do it. And I felt like… I felt like that was kind of taken from me, you know? But I feel fortunate that I was able to kinda be able to get that back a little bit." (x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x)
Eat Your Young is such a banger, like yes dude remark on the hunger and ambition that lies in everyone’s heart, you are totally right that the moment there’s something to be won you go for it, if you're a moment late it vanishes. Yes, capitalism consumes the young, it’s a factory that devours, the false, thin veneer of charity and celebration. Also, it’s about sex.
I remember one time my friend was like "you seem like the type to listen to in my mouth" bc we were talking ab animation memes........... i like in my mouth 😞😞😞😞
like yeah it's a lullaby and everything but. the line "my love is a lighthouse/so darling, my darling/look for the light/" is like. web weavers get on this. why aren't there 500 ofmd edits about this already. it's so lovely.
Today was the final performance of Hikaru’s stage play "Ambient Border”. Of course I had to buy a ticket for one of the streaming broadcasts. I opted for today’s afternoon performance. Oh wow! What a great experience! I’ll definitely have to watch it multiple times to fully understand it. The play is almost 2 1/2 hours long with a ton of characters and a plot that’s pretty hard to follow at times but it’s still super intriguing. What you are seeing in the above video is the title sequence of Hikaru performing “Ambient Border”. It takes place between a short opening scene (frame story) and an elaborate flashback (which makes up the main part of the play). The scene serves as an introduction of all the participating actors and their respective roles within the play.
If you have the means, be sure to get a ticket. The broadcast also includes a pretty neat making-of video! I know e+ is very tricky but maybe some of you do have an account or someone in Japan who is willing to help you. Eventually I will be sharing my recording of course but I’d like for as many people as possible to support Hikaru’s stage play project. Also, if anyone is getting tickets for the other three performances, I’d be happy if you shared your rips with me 🙏
It was really nice to see Keiko support Hikaru today.
Ambient Border Sondtrack
The other day I mentioned that the soundtrack for Ambient Border is now available in digital format in the C.C.C. Store for ¥3,000. After I had fnished watching the play, I couldn’t help but purchase the soundtrack. I was curious about the “ 雷銅/Raido” version of “Under the Rain” and I was desperate for that instrumental version of "Ambient Border”. The piano reprise almost made me cry during the play because it’s such a beautiful arrangement. Having delved deep into the play I now know what they mean by “Raido ver.”. “Raido” is the name of the character played by Kenichiro Hakariya - the composer of the “Ambient Border” soundtrack including all insert songs. Basically, this is a sort of “demo tape” version. I am a bit bummed that the soundtrack doesn’t feature a version with Hikaru, Marina Hamada and Yuki Sasaki. The verses are absolutely gorgeous so I definitely wanna hear a clean studio version at some point.
