Clearly you’ve got a lot of opinions abt the characterisations of the batfam in fandom /pos
Can you elaborate on your interpretation for all of them? /gen
it’s called caring too much — and it’s incurable! wrt my personal interpretation, that's a long and complicated answer, so ill just focus on the internal character of the waynes (specifically bruce and his five canonical kids).
bruce wayne is a control freak, we know this. his parents were killed for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and he has literally never ever been able to truly process it. the degree to which he is controlling - firing robins, survelling his allies without their consent, compiling personal information from others, disregarding others feelings in favour of his own - is all about trying to achieve the best possible outcome. everything he does is justified, because if he's in control then he can stop bad things from happening. it is all in favour of the greater good. it's the logic of an eight year old who's just lost everything and hasn't grown up.
if bruce's trauma manifests control then dick's manifests personal perfectionism. he holds himself to such an absurd standard because he's a flier - when you're catching someone on the trapeze you quite literally have to be there, always, ready to take their hand. if you don't, they fall. if there's no net, if dick isn't the net, then they die. he’s always swinging back out and in again, waiting for the next person to slip through his fingers. he does not fear falling, only what will happen when he hits the ground. he’s a born performer made to be an atlas, carrying an unbearable weight that anchors him to the earth.
jason after death is a tragedy of his own creation, and dc's worst crime is trying to justify the terrible decisions he makes. jason isn’t right, because what he wants is not about protecting other kids from his fate or being a better batman. he wants to be personally vindicated, even though he knows it's impossible. jason rejected himself, bruce, everything, in order to transform into a weapon to enact violence. deep down he's so angry, so hurt, that he'll go after other children - tim, damian, mia - and still decry bruce in the same breath. killing the joker, killing bruce, killing dick, killing every robin before or since won't take him back to who he was before. you cannot go back. you can never go back.
cass sees everything. she can't unsee it, she can't ignore it, nothing in the body can be truly hidden from her, but like bruce that doesn't mean she's always right. she killed a man and witnessed his death, and thus will never take another life. she is all knowing, but she was not born knowing herself. she's jason in reverse — she turns from steel to flesh and bone. she will do whatever it takes to be good. she has made herself real.
tim chose this life in the most literal sense of the word, and then kept choosing it. it’s his duty, it’s his honour, it has hollowed him out and left nothing behind. his tethers to the world snap one by one — janet and jack and darla and dana and steph and kon — and suddenly it’s much harder to extricate himself from the black. robin, dick grayson, is his guiding north star, but his north star is only human. he knows he is capable, he knows this is his choice, and he knows he has long since lost the chance to unchoose.
damian is raised in the shadow of the bat. he is born of blood. he knew death before he knew his father. he is a child. he is ancient. he is a killer. he only wants to do good. he loves his mother. his father is gone before he learns to love damian. damian loves someone else who wears the bat but does not carry wayne name. everything he knows about himself is questioned — robin is given to him, and suddenly he can decide his own fate, make his own family. he wants to be the best, but he doesn’t know what he wants that to mean anymore. he wants the chance to find out.

It's important to remember that the Antarctic Empire, and therefore SMP Earth, is essentially canon to QSMP. (as far as I'm aware) (it definitely will be for this post, so shhh)
Think about all the destruction, mayhem, and cruel things Philza did on SMPE. How nothing held him back. He committed so many war crimes with a damn smile on his face. As part of the Antarctic Empire, he took over the world.
And if SMP Earth Philza is also q!Philza, then it's interesting to see how much has changed since the old days. How, before being thrust into Purgatory, he's been chill and minding his own business. Never really got into conflicts, never caused mayhem or destruction. The only exceptions are two occasions: a) when he returned to the eggs being missing, and he lava casted the Presidential Building, and b) at the Guy Fawkes event.
(Which as I'm typing this I'm realizing. The Guy Fawkes day was an event set the day before things went to hell. An event designed to create mass destruction. An event in which the capybaras gave Philza all the power and control, to blow up with so many stacks of TNT. and Philza fucking loved it. Perhaps to just give us a taste of what's to come.)
But anyway! Philza hasn't really delved into chaos on this server all that much. And even in the beginning of Purgatory, what he has been saying about the Red Team being underdogs is true. They weren't off to a great start; the first day and a half were hell! And yes, he only killed in self defense. He didn't trust the eye worth shit. And of course, he didn't want to hurt anyone. And I'm sure that is still true.
But as time as gone on, as the days have passed, the underdog statement just isn't the case now, as they've embraced what has made them strong, even if they are lacking in other places (i.e. not a lot of PVP players, no enchanted equipment). And they've done some questionable stuff. The situation with q!Rivers, for example. And also one I don't see mentioned which, I think was Day 8? When Phil just. Stole a saddle and a stack of potatoes from Blue Team's base while he was taking/replanting their crops. But still, Philza wants to justify these actions. "It's the bolas way." "it was for a quest" "we did this cause this." He wants to believe that what he's doing isn't bad, because he's just trying to survive in purgatory, right? Philza is a survivalist, this is how he survives.
Then we had today, where Philza's intense gameplay shined. He fought so many people in PVP, didn't even take a second to hold back, used his impressive minecraft skills to work his way to Green's base, and he killed the statue. He went wild today. Just imagine, Philza, wearing the Bolas gas mask, descending upon you with a sword, with no mercy. No, not just Philza, but the Angel of Death.
I think this is what Purgatory wants out of him. Right? Because clearly, Purgatory wants to bring the worst out of everyone.
I also think the reason that q!Phil tries to justify so much of his actions isn't simply ruled as hypocrisy (though it's a bit, in a way) or, in meta, born from self deprecation. No, there's something more to it.
It's because Philza does not want to be corrupted by Purgatory. He refuses to accept that it's dragging him to a dark place. A familiar place, even. I genuinely believe that Philza simply does not want to be like how he was all those years ago. Destructive and cruel. He doesn't want to go back. He's not like that anymore. He's a better person now. He doesn't want to hurt people, and I absolutely believe that. That's different, though, than saying I won't.

Ooh or instead of the adventure req what about hobie x fem reader where they go trick or treating and the reader obviously pretends to be a kid (the disguise works well) and hobie pretends to be the parent (cause yk he's so tall) and in the end they get a bunch of candy
Tumblr media
Hi, angel! I decided to combine them both since I've got an idea, hope that's okay. Thank you for the lovely request! ❤️
Pairing: Hobie Brown x fem! Reader/ Spider-Punk x fem! Reader
Tags: no use of Y/N, no specific physical description of the reader (Hobie is mentioned taller than her tho). CW food mentions, FLUFF.
ʕ·ᴥ·ʔ
"Trick or treat!" You emphasize the sentence by making your voice small and pitched to trick the homeowner that you're a little kid asking for candy.
The white bed sheet draped over your form, the small eye holes Hobie cut off for you doesn't help much with your vision. Hobie stands next to you with the most polite smile he could muster whilst trick or treaters run around the posh neighborhood, little kids with their own chaperones roam around– excited squeals from across all angles.
Hobie convinced you to go and actually go Trick some people off their candies. With him looking much taller than you looking like your adult chaperone for the night and your entire body and face obscured, hiding the fact you're the same age as Hobie just smaller in height, it's the perfect crime. No harm no foul, right? It's not like you're stealing their candy, just tricking them, that's the essence of the holiday anyway. Besides, these rich neighborhoods got the good kind of candy, the full sized ones not the single bite ones.
The lady at the door doesn't look all too convinced though, she squints her eyes, perfectly shaped brows knitted to look closely under your sheet.
Hobie shakes your basket full of candy impatiently, he holds it for you just in case someone has the bright idea to peek under your sheet when you hold it up.
"Wow, a classic ghost. Haven't seen that one in a while" she stops scrutinizing, surrendering two full sized candy bars to Hobie.
"Thank you!" You say in a higher voice. "Say thank you to the nice lady, dad" You don't miss the opportunity to tease him more.
You've been going back and forth with Hobie for ten houses now, he kind of regrets convincing you with how you keep calling him your dad instead of what you've discussed that he's supposed to be your big brother. He stops himself from rolling his eyes at your comment.
"Thank you" Hobie says with the fakest smile you've ever seen him make.
"Bye bye now!" The woman waves. You make your way down the porch, your heavy boots peeking from under the hem of the sheet, making the woman tilt her head in question.
Hobie feels for your hand underneath the sheet, finding it after a few seconds of blindly looking. "D'you think we've got enough?"
"Hmm? Here I thought we're gonna bleed them dry?" You poke his side without lifting the sheet to reveal your face. "Or is it because you don't want me calling you 'dad' anymore?" Poking him relentlessly, you snicker.
"I prefer 'daddy' instead" he teases back with a smirk.
"Fuck off" you say with a chuckle, eyes narrowing at his quip.
A group of costumed teenagers pass you, they excitedly chatter about a party in the woods. A boy dressed as a mummy, covered in toilet paper harshly shoves his friend in a knight costume. You perk up at their loud voices.
"Heard they have free booze! Come on, don't be a pussy!"
The knight shoves back, "it's a party in the woods on Halloween. That's how horror movies starts"
His friend dressed in a homemade Doc Ock outfit chides in, "he's right, I don't care if they give out buckets full of candy. I ain't goin'"
They continue to argue amongst themselves, walking briskly away from you and Hobie.
"Did you hear that?" Your eyes widen, almost filling the eye holes of your costume.
"Who the fuck wears a Doc Ock costume?" Hobie wonders out loud.
"Someone who loves science or a psychopath in the making" you click your tongue. "But did you hear the party going on in the woods?!" You jump on your tippy toes to get his attention away from the wannabe Doc Ock. The cloth bounces by the hem, Hobie thinks you look so adorable right now.
"You wanna go and see? Someone's probably pranking those kids, but it won't hurt if we just popped in and out"
"Yeess!" Fueled by sugar, you tug at his arm, directly heading towards the dark woods.
"We're lost" you mumble, almost tripping on a tree root if not for Hobie's hold on you, you would've fell face first on the mossy soil. Your boots are covered in mud, the hem of your sheet is muddy instead of the pristine condition it was before.
With only a single torch from your phone guiding you both, there's no trace or sound that indicates there's a party somewhere around the woods. Save for some owls hooting on tall trees, looming ominously over your forms. Critters slither by your feet, tiny legs tap tapping on the wood. The full moon shines overhead but the thick leaves on top of the tall oaks and pine trees block the light, only a sliver of it peeking from the leaves.
"We can always ask that owl where we are" Hobie looks nonchalant with his hand tucked warmly inside his pocket, he still looks cool even with leaves stuck in his hair. His other hand is clasped tightly around yours, making sure you don't wander on your own.
You groan, feet aching from the walk, your sugar high waning from your senses. Still determined to find the party for the free booze. The sheet is now tied over your shoulders, you look like a superhero who's transformation to their costume was abruptly cut off.
"You're very funny. Think of the free booze, Hobie"
"'m thinkin' it's not worth it anymore, we still need to count our haul" he points at the bag clutched tightly in your hand.
"But" you whine, "free stuff" a leaf gets crushed from under your boot.
"I want free shit too, love. But you look fuckin' tired"
"I can handle it" you stick out your tongue tinged in blueberry blue from one of the candies you've been munching on.
"Are you–" his sentence gets interrupted by a sharp howl coming from a distance. Hobie instinctively huddles you closer to him, shielding you from whatever made the sound.
"Do you have a werewolf nemesis?" You ball his jacket in your fist, ears perking up from a twig snapping.
Suddenly fast footsteps seem to run towards your direction, Hobie's senses go haywire, he swiftly takes you in his arm, free hand aiming to swing you two away from the supposed danger.
"Nope!"
"Divide it equally! No skimming from my stash" you sit on Hobie's lap, legs curled comfortably around his waist, he doesn't seem to mind though, even if his ass feels like it's gotten flat from sitting on the floor way too long.
You hold a damp cloth over his temple, wiping his skin clean from dirt accumulated through swinging. Your face is still moist from how he cleaned it a few minutes ago, your 'costume' now lay discarded on the floor, dirty and muddy from your excursion. Boots left by the door so it doesn't track mud inside your shared living room.
"'m not, I'm taking the ones you don't like" he lifts up a caramel candy, "you don't like this one, right?"
"Hmm" you think about it, "it's a maybe" curling around him like a python, you whisper your answer in his ear.
"That 'maybe' is the reason why we're still not done yet. You plannin' on hoarding them all?" he looks down at you, eyes softening when your doe eyes stare right back at him.
You smile sweetly, "Don't be mad" puckering your lips up. "Kiss?"
"Not mad" Hobie kisses you gently for a second. Too fast for your liking, it has you concerned.
"You okay?" You scratch his nape affectionately. "We're fine, Hobie. It was probably just an animal, a coyote or even a bunny"
"Or a werewolf" he kisses the knot in between your eyebrows, skin softening under his lips.
"Please, werewolves aren't real" you roll your eyes. Hobie holds your waist tighter, fingers playing with a loose thread from your shirt.
"Got my powers from a radioactive spider, there's a lizard man prowling the city's sewers and a magician with a fishbowl on his head. Werewolves aren't so ridiculous"
"Oh" You thump your head on his shoulder blade, you both sit there with a lot to think about.

Do you think Crowley would be more emotionally open without Aziraphale? I’ve never thought about it, but I’ve just read the tags of your last ask and now I’m really interested
Short answer? Yes, absolutely.
Long answer? Also yes, but it's complicated. <- past me was correct, this got very long, my apologies.
What-if scenarios are always part canonical evidence/part subjective interpretation, because the only Crowley we know is the one who spent six thousand years orbiting Aziraphale.
Still, there was a pre-Aziraphale him, up until Job I presume, which is when they started being lonely together, and we do see what they were like!
The Starmaker is his 'before', the being he was before the doubt, the war, the fall. Before hell and the garden and Aziraphale. She is the blueprint the Crowley we know is built on. In the short time we have with her, she's incredibly emotive—with both positive and negative emotions—and her body language is soft, almost fluid.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Showing emotions is simply a natural part of being a person, and what exactly that looks like obviously varies; but this angel has never been punished for doing so. There are no consequences, it's safe to exist however she wants (though not much longer).
After this, we get Crawley what I assume is more or less a short amount of time after the fall. Everyone got settled in hell, and once the institution was functional, they now needed to actually have humans running around on earth. Otherwise there are no souls to torture.
Even here, Crawley is still open, still smiling, still soft, although a bit more covert in their body language. She laughs and—this is the important part—questions God right on there on the walls of Eden.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even after falling for asking question, she does not stop, not for one moment. Despite the trauma they undoubtedly must have gone through, Crawley sees an angel, slithers up to him, and strikes up a conversation, trusting that he will not hurt them.
Now, this is where subjective interpretation comes in, because we have no information of what the fall was actually like. They got punished for asking question, for rebelling, for trying to change the system—but in my opinion, they never got punished for having emotions.
In the modern day, angels are terrified of making mistakes or asking question, but they are still emotive, they physically express their feelings. Some are more intense in their expressions, others subdued, but from Muriel all the way to Gabriel, they talk about emotions, they show emotions, and that in of itself is not a crime.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hell is just as—if not more—emotional than heaven. Just remember Hastur when Ligur was melting and then later during the trial, or Beelzebub when ze summons Crowley in the first episode.
Yes, they communicate in code a lot, but only when it comes to very specific kinds of information and interactions, not when someone is going insane over the blaring alarm.
Why does all of this matter?
Because it proves that the level of emotional suppression Crowley and particularly Aziraphale have reached is not taught by either heaven or hell.
Instead, just like Aziraphale's claims that 'heaven is watching', it is a rule system instated by himself for himself, and by extension for Crowley; he set the requirements for interaction and forced Crowley to meet them if he wanted to be around him.
We don't see Crowley laugh the way he did as Bildad or the Starmaker anymore, we never see him carefree or joyous or sad. I mean for fuck's sake, he HIDES behind his glasses, a physical manifestation of the repression he's caught in.
Humans wouldn't notice his eyes in the same way the police doesn't notice them at the convent in Tadfield. The glasses show up during Job, and we know Crowley already had a plan to go against orders, so glasses it is. However, he doesn't wear them during the crucifixion, which comes after Job. Crowley tells us she spent a lot of time with Jesus, so you'd expect her to be wearing them, but she isn't—whatever her relationship with Jesus was, she seemed to trust him a lot, and Aziraphale wasn't around.
Aziraphale is the one who demands silence, who never wants to talk about anything he himself hasn't approved as a 'safe' topic, he and his fucking forgiveness whenever Crowley questions God, calling him a demon and pushing him away whenever he openly shows affection towards Aziraphale.
So yeah, of course Crowley cannot regulate his emotions and has no idea how to express himself now, Aziraphale has shoved a gag down his throat for six thousand bloody years and still wants it to stay in place. Our closed-off Crowley would not exist without Aziraphale's continuous presence in his life, and that is a hill I am more than willing to die on.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Crowley is getting his heart broken in the worst, most violent way imaginable both times. But now? His face is stone and steel, one third of it hidden away behind black-out glasses. No tears, no words, no desperation, no flying hands or fluidly moving body.
This is the kind of person you become when someone else forces you to make yourself small, when emotions are punished and affection withheld until you act the way they want. It's horrible, it's unhealthy, and it destroys parts of yourself that you will never get back, no matter how hard you try.
So, in conclusion, yes, without Aziraphale's influence, Crowley would be softer, more open, and we would still see remnants of the Starmaker in him—but we don't.

okay so lately I have seen a lot of people claim they hate mammon bc he steals from mc, and like there's nothing wrong with disliking a character lol but I don't recall mammon ever stealing from mc?? like the only thing I can think of is that one time in season 1 I think where he was going through their stuff and said he was looking for something to sell (I think?? it's been a while) and beel straight up calling him a liar lmao l'm just wondered if I missed something? or if this is just newer players who maybe misunderstood that one scene? and I figured if anyone would know it would be you lmao
I got so fucking pissed about this (not at you anon <3) cos this is the third time I got an ask like this, that I scrolled all the way down my 'Obey Me Mammon' tag to June/July 2020 and then slowly scrolled my way up pulling all the receipts I could.....I saw this immediately after you sent it and I just finished now...... turns out it takes 5 straight hours to go through my Mammon tag😶
I have answered this exact same ask twice before and I can only assume it's new people? Like honestly you can't play the game for a long time and still think this (they prove this false within the game in LESSON FOUR)
Not only does Mammon NOT steal from MC, he also:
a.) Gets legitimate/legal jobs whenever he wants to buy MC something (which is pretty frequently)
b.) Shares the money with them when he comes into a large sum of money
But anyway here are the links to the posts talking about all this:
(everything is directly taken from canon or based off canon)
A.) No he doesn't steal from MC
• Full Summary of the Lesson 4 locked chapter where he goes through MC's stuff and a compare and contrast of what we know about Mammon from future lessons, events, devilgrams
• First post talking about this, goes more into detail about him not stealing from them
• Second shorter post about how he doesn't steal from them
• They're literally Partners in Crime
• He straight up refuses the Midas touch (multiple times I believe) after realising it means he won't be able to touch MC anymore
• HEADCANON that maybe he steals/borrows their clothes, with their knowledge, to wear
• In the small introductory manga page they say the thing he likes as much as money is MC
• In S3 he admits to loving MC more than he loves money
B.) He goes out of his way to get MC Presents (which we works actual jobs to earn money for)
• Mammon at the Office Devilgram, where he gets an actual office job so he can buy MC a watch he saw them looking at
• In the Movie Date Devilgram he rents out an entire theatre for the two of them because it was the anniversary of the day they first met
• In the You Always Ride Shotgun Devilgram he rents out a pool for the two of them
• He's always giving MC presents
• Usually he buys matching things for them
• He buys them shoes in their favourite colour
• Mammon's love language
• He wants to share his winnings from a lottery with MC
• He finds a secret second map in the pirate au event and tells only MC so they can share the treasure
C.) It's not just MC, he puts the others before Money too
• In the Presents From Mammon Devilgram he buys presents for everyone
• In The Guardian Demon Devilgram he saves a 9yr old orphaned homeless human girl from a mugger, fosters her and plans to pay for all her needs until she's an adult/can provide for herself - which is why he's always in debt to the three witches who look after her for him, there's also extortion going on from them towards him
• He'd rather lose the entire fortune he won than make Luke upset
• List of times he's put others before money
• He straight up tells Luke he doesn't mind missing out on a reward as long as it means Luke is alright
• Socks for Beel
• He gets a stone for his birthday which can give him whatever he wishes for, he wishes for fortune to come to whoever has the stone and then gives the stone to a student who tried to hurt him
D.) How Mammon works as a character
• Solmare makes you form certain expectations about him and then starts breaking them within the next few lessons and it's amazing to witness
• Friendship, Actions & Reality Vs Calling MC 'Servant'
• Mammon, MC and their Friendship
• Mammon being smart and why he comes off as an idiot
• His thoughts about himself vs MC
• He's actively changing and growing as a character and he knows it
• How Mammon actually views himself
• Why there's a difference in his level of affection in public vs privately
• Jerk with a heart of gold trope but better
• Mammon and how much he cares about consent
• How outsiders see Mammon vs how people from the city see Mammon vs how his close friends and family see him
• Chasing some creep away from MC
• How his relationship with MC changes and grows throughout the season
E.) Other reasons to love him
• Examples of how much he loves MC
• How supportive he & MC are of each other
• Some of his funniest moments
• He's objectively terrifying
• Mammon being a good brother
• He's extremely ride or die for MC
• He waits for MC when they've got to stay late at RAD for other work
• Despite being an ancient being all his best memories consist of the time he's spent with MC
• He created a whole line of toys based around missing MC
• Everything he says about loving MC in his 2022 birthday event
• List of things he's good at
• The amount he loves MC
And this is just a few of my posts about mammon, his character and what there's to love about him
And look it's MORE than okay for people to dislike a character but at least dislike them for something that actually happened?

He swore that his granddaughter had taken off in this direction. Not noticing the heroes that were being stalled by Amazo Guy, unfortunately for him they had noticed him or rather one. Their leader was getting more agitated by Amazo Guy by the second. One of them nervously got his attention and pointed in the direction Maddrix had taken off. Obviously not fooled by the makeshift cape. If they were going to be honest, that was what tipped them off. He was still wearing the Christmas sweater Tim had gotten him. That would've made them brush him off as just an old man running away if he hadn't taken that cape of his.  It was recognizable especially to Atomic Steele. Just as they were about to go after him, a very annoyed and now angry looking Amazo Guy had put himself between them. That wasn't going to be easy to explain, especially with Atomic Steele. He understood very much where he came from. He did. He knew it would be difficult to convince him to let Maddrix the Malicious go. The dark and straight up murderous look in his eyes told Alex there wasn't a chance he could be reasoned with. Especially when what he was after was right there. Alex didn't want to fight them but he could stall them further. Matthew had finally seen where Becky had gone, seeing her flying in the distance. He kept running as fast as he could. Even with his abilities, he was still definitely not in his youth anymore. He felt himself become  tired out but he couldn't have his granddaughter unintentionally get herself hurt in this state. Of course. She would be a hero. It was ironic that she would become attached to the hero killer. And now that hero killer was putting himself at risk for her safety.  He hadn't noticed that his appearance had escalated the situation between the heroes. Alex was distracted and visibly unhappy that Matthew managed to make his job all the more difficult. He wasn't expecting to get hit with full force. Sending him flying back into a building near Matthew's location. It wasn't personal to be honest. Atomic wanted him out of the way while the supervillain was still in their sight. The others followed after, looking at Alex with apologetic expressions before leaving. The others were caught off guard, Joe went running to help Amazo Guy back up. Alan and Tristan were stunned. Tristan wasn't happy and decided it was time to intervene. This time he was the one getting in the way. With a very angry expression on his face.
Matthew was momentarily frozen in place as he heard the loud crashing of concrete and gravel from behind him. The force of the crash caused him to let go of the cape over his head, eliminating any cover he had. The remaining civilians who hadn't fled the area screamed in panic and fear over seeing Maddrix. They definitely bolted then. Those who were frozen in fear had to be dragged away by their equally panicked but still mobile friends. Matthew then turned his head back to the four heroes who were coming straight towards him. Matthew didn't recognize them, but their leader had an aura of familiarity about them that he couldn't shake despite never seeing him before. Three of the heroes were looking nervous but otherwise still determined to face off against Maddrix the Malicious. Their leader looked ready to make sure there was nothing left of the old man after he was through with the villain. Matthew groaned in frustration as he pinched the bridge of his nose. He knew what was coming but now wasn't the time to deal with someone's vendetta against him. "Hey I know you have a personal vengeance against me and want me dead for my actions years ago, but can you hold off on that for a little bit? I really need to take care of something really important here that for once doesn't involve crime or bloodshed." Matthew's plea caused the four heroes to temporarily stop in their pursuit. It was almost comedic to Matthew seeing their confused and bewildered expressions. Just as they were about to recover from their confusion, a very irate Wordman swooped in front of the four heroes. Matthew didn't have to see the expression on Tristan's face. Judging by his crossed arms and how fast he stood between them and himself, it was clearly evident Tristan was very pissed at them for punching Alex into that building. Matthew glanced back over to where Alex had landed. He saw one of his son's friends, Joe along with Alan, rush over to check on him. Slight relief that Alex was in good hands, Matthew proceeded to get out of this situation and focus on getting Becky back home where it is safe. "Hold it right there Maddrix." Wordman commanded. "Or maybe I'm going to get delayed even more." Matthew mumbled angrily. He saw Tristan giving him a side angry glare, clearly upset that the villain was out in the open especially after what was show on the television. "It was foolish and stupid to be out here like this, not go back to where you were right now before more people catch you out in the open." Matthew was about to explain himself before the leader of those other heroes shouted. "ARE YOU CRAZY! YOU ARE LETTING MADDRIX THE MALICIOUS GO! HE'S THE HERO KILLER! HE DESERVES TO PAY FOR ALL OF HIS CRIMES!" The young man shouted venomously as he continued to glare at said man. Matthew took a breath, trying to calm himself before he could speak. He was getting really irritated at being interrupted but it would do him no good to start yelling back at these people who clearly want his head. "Hey!" Matthew exclaimed loudly catching the arguing heroes attention. "Look like I said before, I know you want revenge for what I did. I deserve it. Right now I am in the middle of something very important. The reason I'm out here is because Wordgirl flew off trying to help a civilian or something and the poor girl is not in the right state to be helping anyone after the trauma she went through. So let me or one of you just go get her and bring her back home before she gets herself hurt. Okay." Matthew noted Tristan's panicked expression at hearing his daughter was out and about by herself. The others heroes who weren't in the know were shocked at hearing Maddrix care about another hero's safety but also looked worried at hearing there was something wrong with the young heroine. Their leader though still glared at Matthew. A sneer formed on his lips as he spoke. "Right like you care. You are just trying to fool us so you can kidnap Wordgirl and bring her back to your own monster husband so he can continue to experiment on her." @dualnaturedscientist

The ambassadors for Valentino and Alexander McQueen have been invited to attend the W KOREA November 2023 Event! How will the Maknaes of SKZ handle it?
ෆ contents: fluff, wholesome moments
ෆ word count: 763
ෆ note - hey everyone! apologies for being away since my last post but ive been busy coming up with my next move! I'll explain the details in a later post, but basically im starting a new series of small/medium one-shots going more in depth in aiko's relationships with the members. today is for jeongin and we'll make our way to channie! hope you all enjoy!
Tumblr media
Ever since they'd gotten the news, the two maknaes of Stray Kids had been both mentally and physically preparing for this day. Both Jeongin and Aiko had been invited to the W Korea event as ambassadors for their respective brands; Aiko for Valentino, and Jeongin for Alexander McQueen. Aiko and Jeongin are very close, all due to the fact that they're so close age, so when receiving word that they'd be arriving together made them feel more at ease, especially Aiko. It had been only a month or so since she had been made a global ambassador and, unlike her older members like Hyunjin, Felix and Jeongin, Aiko wasn't that comfortable with being too much in the spotlight. That being said, when the night of the event finally rolled around, she was a little nervous.
The car that was carrying the youngest members of SKZ was only moments away from dropping the two off at the famous W Korea event. "Ai, you've been fidgeting with your dress for the entire way here, are you sure you'll be okay?", Jeongin pressed, "I'll be fine, oppa, I'm just not used to events like this." Aiko replied, "It doesn't help being in this dress.." She added quietly. The dress Ai had been placed in was a short black dress with sequins sewed in nearly every where and one thing about Aiko, is that she despises sequins. It also didn't help that it was slightly cold by the time they'd arrived, and of course her dress had been slightly higher in the front part of the skirt, exposing her legs to the cold, unwelcoming air. When it was finally their turn to step out of the vehicle and onto the carpet, Jeongin took Ai's hand gently, "Listen, if you really need to leave, all you have to do is ask alright?" He mused. Aiko gave him a gentle smile. Jeongin had always looked out for her, as if she was his sister. Taking a deep breath, they stepped out into a sea of flashing lights. With linked arms, Aiko and Jeongin made their way down the carpet and into the center, where all the other idols and celebrities had been paused to take pictures. Making their way to their seats, Aiko had spotted a few of her idol friends, such as the members of ITZY minus Lia, Soobin of TXT, and more importantly, Jennie of BLACKPINK. Aiko's inner Blink cheered and suddenly this event didn't seem so bad anymore.
It was only 7 minutes when Aiko's attention span had begun to grow thin. She started to wonder how all these people could sit there for an hour or two, just to make an appearance and look pretty. Obviously she was greatful for the opportunity Valentino had given her, but she personally wasn't a huge fan of stuffy events like this. Thankfully she had her partner in crime by her side. Jeongin noticed her little mind begin to wonder, so he'd begun to talking to Ai to keep her entertained enough, as weird as that sounds. "Wow, look at her outfit.." Jeongin pointed out, "Jeongin! Don't judge people in public like this!" Aiko tried to calm him down a bit but even she had to admit to herself that the outfit this lady was wearing was everything wrong on a fashion test. "Ai, don't lie to yourself she looks like she's wearing a curtain from my grandmother's house." Aiko had to laugh at that one. As the air grew colder, it became more prominent that Aiko's legs had been subjected to the cool air. This didn't go unnoticed, especially when Ai had been trying to pull her dress down a little more. Jeongin being the gentleman he was raised to be offered his jacket to her, even when Aiko tried refusing, he didn't take no for an answer. The younger idol was reminded how Jeongin was with her, how he cared for her. Ever since her accident in where Jeongin had found her, he'd been more protective and worrisome over her, like any big brother would be.
Luckily for Aiko, the event had picked up a bit and everyone had started to lighten up. When the event was all over and done with and they were back at their hotel room, the decided to go live on Instagram to talk and joke about the whole thing. "Out of all the dresses they could've put me in it had to be the one with sequins!" Aiko complained. Jeongin laughed along with her, happy that his younger sister was finally comfortable again.

Okay so Raph is supposed to be the brave brother, and a tough brother. So the moment you g ahead and suggest a couple costume for the both of you, he just stands there. There is no absolute way- He is not going to make a fool out of himself over a costume. No way.
"Oh!! Oh!! We could totally go as Barbie and Ken together!!! Wouldn't that be so cute Raph?? It's perfect!! ... Raph?? Raph?? Hello??? Anybody home, Did you hear me??"
Yes. Yes he did. He heard you loud and clear. He just can't say no to you though, especially since he has to make up for being so busy fighting crime at night instead of relaxing and spending time with you. So he's in despair for what his fate is for this Halloween.
The moment he says yes to your proposal of your costumes, He panics internally. Like Leo's anxiety, but so so so much worse. Like Raph actually plans on dipping you last minute, but his brothers call him a coward and April scolds him for being a bad boyfriend, mostly cause she's following girl code, and all.
So yeah. Now he's stuck on the fact he has to be Ken for Halloween. He tries to not bring up what he's going to be for Halloween, mostly because he is embarrassed of how he is going to be rolling around with roller skates and neon pink clothes.
As soon as you show off the costumes you bought for him and you, and if you show it off in the lair?? His brothers and April are laughing so hard at him trying to skate or stand up in the costume, because he is just falling over and over again and over and over again. He's just slipping and tripping all over again. *insert the banana slip cartoon sound affect*
Yeah.. one problem, or actually two problems about the costume you have picked out for him. First problem is...... Raph can't.. skate. Raph can't skate. Like. At all. He can't skate. So you'll have to teach him to skate in order for him to be able to properly make the Halloween costume magic work.
And the second problem would be Raph trying to not be embarrassed wearing his costume. Probably Donnie or April, maybe even Splinter, is recording him with you strolling down the streets while they are laughing hardly with everyone else.
But after awhile, Raph gets used to skating in skates. And he also started to take pride in his costume with you since so many kids and teens ask to take pictures with the both of you two in your cute couple costumes!! And there is no doubt about it that Raph is going to try to perform some skating tricks with you to wow the crowd.
Hah!! Take that, he doesn't care anymore. He's just strolling around, with his lovely Barbie Girl going door to door knocking on them and getting his trick or treat bag full of sweets. He most definitely gives you sweets from his bag because you're a sweet barbie girl to his tough and stubborn mutant turtle ken.

So, I've been thinking about Toby's knives.
Well, okay, I specifically think primarily about Toby's main knife, but there's something interesting to be said about all three of the knives she "regularly" wears (silver, iron, and the new one.) All three of them are gifts. All three of them are given to her by someone expecting Toby to be a hero.
"Ms. Daye?" "Yes, Dare?" It was like trying to leave kindergartners with a babysitter. If I was lucky, they'd run out of questions before the sun went down. Maybe. "Here." She pulled a knife out of her sleeve, offering it to me. I didn't recognize the style of the blade, but if it was street legal, I'm a Kelpie. "In case you don't scream fast enough." "Good idea," I said. She looked almost disappointed by my reaction - she was still young enough for the rules against saying thank you to seem pointless. I winked, sliding the knife into my belt with the edge facing outward to keep me from cutting myself. She brightened, reading the unspoken gratitude in my eyes. She was pretty smart when she let herself be.
(Rosemary and Rue, Chapter 21, pages 239-240)
The first and most important, of course, is Dare's knife. And yet, this is a pretty minor moment. There's no sign this particular knife is special to Dare - it's mentioned earlier she's got enough weapons on her at the moment to clank. Manuel will ask for it later, claiming it was a loan, but that's the most he can say - and May, who would know, corrects him that it was a gift.
By this point, Dare's already told Toby she wants to get away from Devin and take Manuel with her, and Dare asks because Toby's already her hero. She got out. Dare doesn't get to, in the end. And so the knife that Dare all but offhandedly gave her becomes a keepsake, and one of Toby's most valued possessions. As Toby says taking it in A Local Habitation, maybe Dare's knife would help her be someone else's hero. Eventually, it does. Dare's knife is Toby's promise to herself not to fail anyone again. It's the justification she uses when she needs to go back and confront Blind Michael. (Incidentally, May tells her they can get a new knife in response. For all that she remembers being Dare, she doesn't yet understand what the knife is to Toby.) It's so tied to Toby's identity that when she loses her way home, among all the allies she can't recognize or only knows as enemies -
[Quentin] walked toward me, pausing to bend and gingerly retrieve a silver knife from the floor. It looked sharp. It also looked well-used; there were flecks of blood dried on the hilt, and streaks of something much fresher on the blade. "I'll just, um, hold this for you, for now," he said. "I promise I'll give it back when you're ready." "You can't give it back when it's not mine," I snarled. At least I could talk.
(A Killing Frost, Chapter 19, page 266)
Toby thinks at this point that she's sworn to Sylvester and can return to him, not knowing she's banished. He's not part of her way home anymore. But the knife is. When Toby can't recognize the knife, it's because she's not herself anymore. (Incidentally, it says a lot about how thoroughly Sylvester fucked up, particularly in AKF, that Shadowed Hills isn't home anymore.) On top of that, because of its link to Dare, the knife is also Home - the shitty flophouse for changelings with nowhere else to go run by an exploitative crime lord, but also the place where Toby learned to fight and survive. Sylvester's tried to teach her, but she's not the kind of knight to use a sword.
Moving on:
Then Acacia's hand was on my shoulder, and a knife was landing in the dust beside me. "Kill him or let him go, Amandine's daughter, but don't torture him," she said. "Make your choice. You haven't got much time." I looked up. "Acacia -" She looked down at me, the short tendrils of her hair curling around her face. When I distracted Blind Michael, that must have broken his hold on her, allowing her to rip herself free. "No. You let others make your choices too often. Kill him or let him live, but do it now. No more games." "I don't know what to do." "You always know. You just don't listen to yourself." She shook her head, turning, and started to walk away. The Riders parted to let her pass, still silent, still staring at me. Choices. Oh, Oberon's blood, choices. I put the candle between my teeth, keeping my knife pressed tight against Blind Michael's throat. The flame licked at my cheek, filling the air with the hot smell of singed blood as I reached out and picked up Acacia's knife. I almost dropped it when the metal hit my hand. Iron - it was made of iron. It would have to be; did I really think I could kill one of the Firstborn with silver alone? That was never an option. Not really. ... "I'm sorry," I said. "I can't forgive you." I lifted my hand, bringing the two knives together, and slammed them together down into his throat. Iron slices through faerie flesh like it's nothing but dry leaves and air. That's what iron exists to do: it kills us. Silver can do almost as well, if you use it properly. Acacia's knife was iron, Dare's was silver, and I held them together as I thrust downward. ... It didn't really matter; he was dead, I had won, and I couldn't fight anymore. No more children would suffer because of him. In the end, I'd proved myself as a child of Oberon's line, no matter how much I tried to deny it; I was a hero...
(An Artificial Night, Chapter 31, pages 295-296)
A longer passage there because Acacia's knife is by far the one that gets the most dramatic focus when Toby receives it, for obvious reasons. But it's also more significant than the moment itself. Up to this point, the closest Toby comes to considering herself a hero in more than Dare's eyes is just before the Ride, where she thinks that all her kids are safe (except Katie, who she can't save,) and that she should run before the Ride begins, even if it kills her, because at least then she'd die a hero. There's even a moment early in the book where the Luidaeg calls her a child of Oberon (five pages after Toby reflects to herself that the children of Oberon are heroes,) and Toby thinks to herself that the Luidaeg's wrong, since she still thinks she's Daoine Sidhe.
But she claims it here, because she has no option not to. You can't kill one of the great monsters of Faerie and not accept that you are, ultimately, a hero. So long as she's herself, Toby won't deny that she's a hero again.
Toby carries Acacia's knife with her regularly for the period of time between the end of An Artificial Night and the events of Late Eclipses. This is all but exactly six months - she receives it on October 31, 2010, going back to confront Michael almost immediately after being freed from the Ride. She stops being able to carry it regularly once Amandine changes her blood, in early May 2011. (I’d have to reread Late Eclipses in full to get the exact point it ends, since she’s still carrying it even though she can feel it in the scabbard at the very end.) After that, she keeps it secured at home unless her blood’s changed far enough back towards mortal that it’s safe. But she always keeps the iron knife, and she always brings it with her when she IS more mortal than fae. In The Brightest Fell, she notes the hilt fits perfectly for her. She has to throw it off her when she changes back in Chimes at Midnight, but once the False Queen’s been ousted, Toby apparently makes sure to reclaim it from the treasury. It’s not a good idea to lose a gift from one of the Firstborn, after all. And you never know when you might need to kill another one, especially when one of them is your (terrible) mother. Which she considers, to some extent, at the start of The Brightest Fell, and openly threatens in its ending to get Tybalt and Jazz back.
In short, Toby thinks of the iron knife as being a part of her life for much longer than it actually was, consistently. Part of it’s definitely that it represents the balance of her blood the way she was used to for most of her life - after all, when she gets another blood choice vision in CAM, the choice is presented as iron and silver knives for human and fae. But it’s also the knife she used to kill one of the Firstborn. Dare’s knife is Toby’s promise to be a hero going forward. Acacia’s knife is Toby choosing the title, and all the danger that comes with it. She stabs them both into Michael at the same time. When she’s rebalancing her blood, in CAM, she does the same thing to herself.
"... You do make the first cut, though, and you use my knife to do it, since yours is probably covered with something unspeakable that would despoil my beautiful creation." "Or she can use mine," said a male voice, from behind me. I turned. There was Oberon, still in his mostly-unassuming buise, the antlers on his brow small enough not to attract more attention than he wanted. He was wearing red, which was a little odd, since he wasn't part of the official wedding party, but he was also Oberon, which meant absolutely no one, not even his daughters, was going to tell him "no". And he was holding a knife by the blade, offering it to me hilt-first. I blinked, first at the blade, then at him. "Sire?" I asked. This was one of those things that probably held some great meaning and import no one had ever bothered to explain to me, assuming it wouldn't be important enough to matter. ... "I would be honored," I said, and took the knife from Oberon's hand, turning to face the cake. ... Oberon was gone when I turned around, leaving me holding his knife. I tightened my grip on the handle. I wasn't putting this one down until I could return it to its owner.
(And With Reveling, the novella/epilogue to When Sorrows Come, pages 360-361)
Today would be the first day I carried two knives to Arden's Court. The first, the silver, was familiar. The second was relatively new, although it felt natural and easy in my hand, and was made of a material I still hadn't identified. In a very real way, it was the only gift I had received on my actual wedding day. ... The knife was different. I hadn't even realized it was a gift at first; I'd thought it was just something I could use to cut the cake. But when I'd tried to return it, the Luidaeg had interceded, explaining that once her father - you know, Oberon himself - handed someone a weapon, it was a grave insult to hand it back, and did I really want to insult my grandfather, the Lord of All Faerie, on my wedding day? Was I that eager to become something genuinely unpleasant and leave Tybalt functionally a widower? I was not. And so now I carried a gift from the father of us all on my left hip, sharp and deadly and ready to be used. But no pressure.
(Be The Serpent, Chapter Two, pages 9-10)
Oberon's knife is given with so little ceremony Toby doesn't realize it's truly a gift at first, at a time where - for once - Toby does not actually need a knife for standard stabbing purposes. Oberon's knife immediately has the kind of importance that Toby isn't entirely comfortable with it, in stark contrast to how quick she is to accept the iron knife and how thoroughly the silver knife has become an extension of her identity. She's gotten used to being a hero, and even a hero of the realm - she lets/asks Aethlin to re-recognize her hero status so she can help investigate, which may or may not mean she's now a hero of the entire Westlands as a realm, not just Maples. (Neither of them bothers to specify.) But when a god gives you a knife, it's understandable to be a little hesitant about it. It's given under the most gift-like circumstances of the three - Dare's was a preemptive gift for self-defense, and Acacia's came with a direct request: Kill Blind Michael, or not, but choose. Oberon's gift is more to have than to cut that cake, even if it's not laid out until later.
Dare's knife's metal isn't actually specified in Rosemary and Rue - it's specified when things are iron in that book, but Toby never actually bothers to mention what they use instead. It comes up for the first time in A Local Habitation, instead. What's important to know at the time is that it's a knife, and a pretty unexceptional one, because Dare thinks Toby might need it. Acacia's knife, of course, is immediately singled out as iron. Oberon's knife is just left as "a knife" in And With Reveling (most importantly, a CLEAN knife,) but when it first comes up in Be The Serpent its material is explicitly mentioned as unknown. We immediately know that will be important. Oberon's children are heroes. The man himself does not give weapons lightly.
The Luidaeg waited until the door was closed behind her before she spoke again. "I saw my father hand you a knife at the wedding," she said. "I know he didn't take it back. Do you have it with you?" "I do," I said, and touched the knife belted to my hip. "Show me." Pulling the knife from its sheath felt like a promise I didn't want to be making, as if by doing so, even when asked, I was committing to using it for its intended purpose. The Luidaeg held her hand out and I dropped the handle into her palm, letting her take the blade for me. She lifted it toward the light, squinting. "Hmm," she said. "I think it's antler, rather than bone, but it should still work." "Oh, go- Wait, what?" "Antler. You know what those are, don't you?" She offered the knife back. I took it. "They're the handles on the stag. Not that I'd suggest grabbing them if you don't have a damn good reason, since the best-case scenario when you do that is being stuck on the end of a pissed-off stag. Bone would be better, but I guess Daddy has a renewable source for antler. He drops them every spring, right around Moving Day, and we used to use them for all sorts of things. There's a piece in every hope chest." "You're telling me that I've been carrying around a piece of Oberon?" I demanded, staring at the knife in my hand. The Luidaeg nodded, apparently untroubled. "He isn't good at showing people he likes them, but he must like you, if he's giving you one of those. He tends to keep them close, given what they're used for." "What's that?" "Murder, mostly." She said it so lightly, like it was nothing out of the ordinary. "Silver and iron for a Firstborn, silver and bone - or antler - for our parents. Not that we know that for sure, of course. It was just what the magic seemed to indicate, and what the oracles Saw, back when there were enough of us to ask." I kept staring at the knife. I couldn't seem to take my eyes away. "So you're telling me this knife could - could -" "Could kill Titania, if you used it correctly and caught her off-guard, yes, I am," said the Luidaeg.
(Be The Serpent, Chapter Twelve, pages 161-162)
Oberon's knife is a piece of himself, and it is the ability to kill one of the Three, if Toby dares, if Toby deems it necessary. Granted, that last part was also the case with Acacia's knife - she's Firstborn too, after all. (And of course, ANY knife has the capacity to kill a changeling like Toby starts the series, or Dare.) But coming from the King of All Faerie, it feels even more tremendous, particularly because it's given when the only one of the Three active is Oberon himself. He's actually surprised when Toby discusses killing Titania or threatens him in Be The Serpent. He isn't actually expecting her to start thinking about killing gods with her god-killing knife. Oberon doesn't think about things he knows A LOT. Toby probably gets it from him.
But he's already given her his absolute trust. You don't give someone the one kind of knife that can kill your wives and yourself if you think they would use it irresponsibly.
Toby's wedding is in many ways, in- and out of universe, a recognition of her heroism. Oberon's knife is, as well. And with it comes the burden she's locked herself into: She's the one who brought Oberon home. She's the restorer of the Roane. She's the one who will go to the Heart of Faerie. She has broken the bindings on Titania, set on her by Oberon himself, and destroyed the illusions of Titania; unraveling something of Maeve's seems as inevitable as finding her and bringing her home as well. The antler knife isn't just marking her a hero, it's marking her as something all but mythic.
Even a hero would be nervous about that responsibility.
But for all the weight it carries, it still feels natural to use, just like the iron knife. The antler knife and the role it brings with it are just as much a part of Toby as the silver and iron. And by the time she receives it, she's more than earned it already.

time for more kalypso babbles. @lesbian-hannibal as requested.
Tumblr media
to understand this scene, we gotta get deep into will's character.
will graham is a university teacher and special agent for the fbi. he has a heightened empathic response, which hannibal refers to as pure empathy. he can draw off of the emotions of a killer at a crime scene and piece together how the victim was killed and what the motive was behind it. but he also wears a sort of second skin. he's putting forth a persona so that he'll fit in and not be seen as odd for what he actually is. he wears a person suit. so the persona of will we see (teacher, profiler, fisherman) is a cover of the man will believes he should be rather than who he actually is. he's split himself into two, and repressed part of himself in fear of being rejected. underneath this projection of will is what will really wants, what he craves and attracts. that's why he's so drawn to killing, i.e. "i liked killing hobbs. it felt just." he's convinced himself that what he felt in killing hobbs and adopting abigail into his life is a sense of just, what will's suit strives for. now that he's fed this side of himself, and now that hannibal is pushing him, he finds it harder to hide behind his person suit.
that brings you to hannibal. hannibal also wears a person suit. will cannot pull off of any emotions in hannibal, because his person suit conceals them. beneath hannibal's person suit is the chesapeake ripper. he's a murderer, he likes playing god. but in all actuality, the ripper is merely a worshipper, and now that hannibal has tasted it, the man beneath will's mask is the god he follows. there are times, as hannibal is showing will to cast off his person suit, that his own strains - will can pick up on the ripper's emotions, and the man underneath his projection reacts to them, going so far as to unconsciously mirror him and bare his weaknesses to the man.
little by little, as the show goes on, hannibal tears through will's persona and allows him to embrace the darkest parts of himself, the man beneath the mask, the killer behind the persona. will can be seen, throughout the show, to more easily and readily accept the parts of himself that he hid away. He hid it for alana, for jack and beverly, for the people his persona was supposed to care for - as is customary for any rational person to do. he's afraid of not being accepted, for having himself seen and being too much for the people that he believes he ought to surround himself with. but hannibal is slowly showing him that the darkest parts of himself are accepted by the people that matter most (i.e. him and their surrogate pseudodaughter) because they see that part of him, acknowledge it, and meet it in time with the darkest parts of themselves. will is fighting his own becoming because he's hid behind his mask too long to allow himself to fully shed the person he created to make a place for himself in the world. hannibal bared himself to will because he saw what will was trying to stifle, that was in turn killing him.
"i let you see me." - "you wanted to be seen." - "by you." this is where will begins to accept that he cannot hide anymore, as hannibal forcibly brings his persona to his attention. this is hannibal's rare gift.
and this is will giving that rare gift back.
will connects with others by stepping into their head, wearing their mindsets and emotions to understand them. he knows them from the inside out, he steps into them. by telling hannibal that he doesn't want to think about him, that he doesn't want to worry about him, he is taking his empathy away from him and therefore shutting hannibal out of his life. he is telling hannibal that you are no longer interesting. you are not someone that i find interesting. you are not welcome in my life anymore.
he's telling hannibal that he sees him. knows him. and wants nothing to do with him.

on the subject of the "monoma neito & toga himiko are siblings" AU/headcanon/theory,
it's already canon that monoma's quirk has a transformation aspect to it — afterall, how else could he copy eri's horn?
and that's not even mentioning the quirks with more physical aspects, like bakugou's which requires the user to sweat nitroglycerin
so it's already canon that his copy quirk has a physical transformation aspect to it — but what if it was more complicated than that?
similar to the analogy of the woman with the water quirk who thought she could spout water from her body, but turned out to actually be drawing the moisture out from the air...
what if monoma's copy quirk actually allows him to copy certain genetic traits from other people?
the most obvious example of this being him copying their quirk factor, and any physical traits associated with it — such as in the cases or eri and bakugou
but what if he could copy more? what if he could copy eye and hair color? even birthmarks
it's not a full transformation quirk — he can't turn into an exact copy of them like toga himiko can — but he can copy midoriya's hair and iida's eyes and uraraka's finger pads and bakugou's sweat glands and ashido's horns and —
could he copy tokoyami's bird head? could he give himself a bird head? food for thought.
he can copy multiple people at once, but he can't copy a single trait from multiple people simultaneously.
in other words, he can't copy more than one person's quirk at once or two different people's hair color at the same time, but he can simultaneously copy one person's quirk and another person's hair and someone else's eyes, etc.
anyway,
once toga himiko attacked her first student and ran away, her parents didn't want to be associated with her and her crimes so they changed their name from toga (father's surname) to monoma (mother's maiden name).
the only issue was that neito still looked far too much like his sister.
the two of them had both inherited the same recessive quirk genes from a more distant relative like a grandparent or great-grandparent, and it wasn't just their quirks that were similar:
both of them had the same ash blonde hair and yellow eyes.
but the togas didn't want neito to be associated with himiko in any way, so they made him hide the more transformation aspect of his quirk as well as change his appearance to look less like himiko
they did this by braiding their own hair into a bracelet which neito was then made to wear 24/7 so he was constantly touching and copying them
he made his eyes more like his father's and his hair more like his mother's so he still looked like their son, he just didn't look like himiko
at first he only did it when he left the house but as time went by he found he could stay shifted to longer and longer periods of time
until eventually he progressed to keeping it maintained 24/7, only dropping it when he slept (and when he did he was always out like a light and incredibly hard to wake up because he was pretty much constantly suffering from quirk exhaustion)
when he found out what 1a's homeroom teacher's quirk was he felt like he'd just narrowly dodged a bullet
then, during joint training with 1a & 1b, neito goes a little too far with his harassment of 1a and aizawa has to use his quirk on him
so imagine everyone's surprise when monoma's appearance changes before their eyes...
his hair shifts to a dimmer ash blonde and his eyes brighten to a golden yellow...
and suddenly it's like they're looking into the eyes of toga himiko herself...
alt. reveal: during a lov attack on 1a&1b, monoma neito runs into toga himiko while surrounded by his classmates.
she doesn't recognize him at first, but he's frozen. it takes her a second before she realizes this familiar-looking guy has the same hair and eyes as her parents...
and looks remarkably similar to her brother with the minor transformation quirk...
(she lets him go, but she takes the bracelet with their parents' hair so he can't copy them anymore)
((and so monoma is left surrounded by classmates, teachers, and villains while stuck looking like a male version of toga himiko and he is PANICKING))

Still cant believe a fucking terf is in fallout fandom intecacting with trans creators and drawing her ugly stereotypical twink transmasc character. You should be ashamed
What is even happening to my inbox anymore. Idk if it's the same person that asked about Sharky or not, but it really makes me uncomfortable.
I don't know where the TERF stuff even come from, but I'm very open with my political views and yeah, I was a radfem in 2019 or something. I also was a very vulnerable sad russian teenager. I know not a lot of people on tumblr aware of all the intricacies of russian internet scene, but I assume you, anon, have some knowledge, because you called me a TERF in the first place.
There's an internet phenomenon called "alt-right pipeline" and I fell in the simular thing called "TERF pipeline". This shit is inevitable for every single afab person that speaks russian. It's a really big thing. I don't say it's an excuse to be a bigot, but I was 12 when i first touched the internet. I was insecure, very fucking poor and spiteful. Also I had and (still have) some hormone problems and was generally a pretty ugly girl so coped with it by drawing ponies and hating on elusive and mysterious "men in skirts" these smart twitter girlies always talked about.
To be perfectly honest, I genuinely don't understand what russian TERFs are fighting for or against, I was in this shit for solid few years and still have no idea. I mean, now it's illegal to be transgender in Russia (a real law), but it wasn't a win for these angry teenage girls, it was a win for genocidal bigoted russian government, the same one that legalized domestic violence (also a law. its officially not a real crime in this country). I went off the topic and started ranting about my frustrations with the government again FUCK 😭
I tried to say that russian internet is genuinely a fucked up place, but I lived in the middle of Siberia in a village, ideologically only had my orthodox grandma, racist older brother and TERFs on the internet. I only started to learn english a few years ago, so i didn't have enough options before that. Or, to better words, didn't have enough knowledge to be a better person.
I'm really really and sincerely fucking sorry for that. Like, truly. It was really fucked up and I'm ashamed of stuff I said and supported blindly. I now have resources and have some media literacy in my disposal and basic understanding of english to educate myself about the topics I'm talking about. I'm trying my hardest to show support and love to all my queer friends and mutuals, and as an artist I do all I can to be inclusive, not because I feel the need to, but because I want to.
I have no right to speak about trans people and their issues and I won't. I don't know if Sharky is as bad as anon described, because I'm biased (this is my character after all) and not educated enough to acknowledge all the stereotypes associated with transmasculinity. I would really enjoy to hear opinions of my fellow transmen. To address some of my choices regarding his design and writing:
- He wears pink, because it's a quirky color that doesn't show up much in Fallout. Never meant to de-masculate him or to ridicule him. It's my favorite color, after red and brown, which are the primary colors of Wendy.
- He has a silly personality and a carefree attitude because 1) I'm projecting and 2) Wendy needed a character to balance out her awkward and moody autism
- He's a girl's boy and has wives. I didn't have the reason to make him not like girls. I wanted him to be an example of positive masculinity and solidarity. He is a straight dude who loves women. Not just sexually attracted to them or sees them as pets. They are his partners. With their own personalities and lives. Also I wanted to make a full circle 😭😭😭 I'm asexual and bi-romantic. I like boys, girls, all between and beyond boys and girls and don't really think sex is a big thing for me. Aletus likes boys, Sharky likes girls and Wendy likes when there's no sex. Pretty simple, I think.
Hope this explains why Sharky is the way he is. Would still really appreciate an opinion from a trans person. Or any kind of feedback really, because I've been feeling really fucking bad lately and can't objectively reflect on my choices. Also more questions about my OCs are very much welcome. There's a lot of stuff that made me feel like I've been misiforming people, including this anonymous message, and I will specify anything you want to know. Thank you all a lot.

I hear you need angst ideas for Jimmy. WELL- canonically his character is not only insecure but it’s heavily implied he has abandonment issues. What if you delve into that with the whole mess with his ex deputy fwhip.
OH I CAN ABSOLUTELY DO THAT I LOVE PSYCHOANALYZING MY BLORBOS
Jimmy was used to people only staying temporarily. Even if they promised they'd never leave, they always left or were taken from him. For a while he began to wonder if he was the problem.
I mean, only so many people can promise to stick by your side just to disappear so many times before you start to wonder if you were the reason they left. Maybe you were driving them away.
And Jimmy was fine to accept that. He knew he wasn't the greatest person alive. He made mistakes, he got angry and sad or would say the wrong thing at the wrong time. So maybe everyone had just seen how bad of a person he was and didn't want to deal with him anymore. That was fine. That was understandable.
And then fWhip wanted to be deputy. The little goblin man came along with his charming grin and big blue eyes and completely won over Jimmy's heart. They were good friends and fWhip hadn't done anything to spite Jimmy so far so Jimmy trusted him with a shiny golden badge, crafted from the finest gold from Tumble Town mines. And it was even made specifically for fWhip's size.
"I would never ever betray you, Sheriff." fWhip promises one day, crossing over his heart. Jimmy swallows and tries to keep his hopes down. fWhip would leave eventually. fWhip would get sick of him and his antics and throw in the badge and never speak to him again.
But fWhip didn't leave. At least not for a while. He stayed by Jimmy's side for months. Jimmy had grown to trust fWhip, telling him things no one else on the server knew. He told fWhip about Double Life, how he still thought of Tango all the time, about how people always seemed to leave him, how he didn't even feel human sometimes.
And fWhip listened. He listened with a heavy heart to Jimmy's stories. He didn't crack jokes to downplay Jimmy's feelings. He was a friend, a deputy, partner in crime law.
"I promise I won't leave," fWhip mumbles, scooting closer to Jimmy and resting his hand on top of Jimmy's.
The Sheriff takes it as a simple comforting gesture. "Please don't." He mumbles back, leaning his head on top of fWhip's.
fWhip kept to his promise. He stuck to Jimmy like glue. He ransacked the Toy Barn in Jimmy's name, distributed Law books, defended Jimmy in and out of court, all while wearing his deputy badge proudly.
It all made Jimmy feel.. some way. He didn't have the words for it.
And Jimmy began to believe fWhip. Maybe he wouldn't leave. Maybe Jimmy would have a solid ally for once. They'd be the best of friends and would always have each other's backs no matter what.
Jimmy really liked that idea.
But nothing good lasts around Jimmy Solidarity. He can never have anything precious in his life. Just when he thinks everything is perfect and maybe he isn't a horrible person the sky comes crashing down and ruins everything in its path.
Something changed in fWhip. A switch flipped, maybe. One day he was Jimmy's best friend and the next he was shouting from the rooftops that Jimmy was corrupt, that he was a bad Sheriff and shouldn't be trusted.
Of course Jimmy fired him. Not before basically begging on his knees to know what had happened between them, what he'd done and how he could fix him.
fWhip wanted nothing to do with him.
So Jimmy was alone again.
Maybe he really was the problem. Maybe there was something wrong with him he couldn't see but others could. Did he talk too much? Or not enough? Was his logic really that flawed? Was he not considerate enough? Too clingy? Did he really carry himself like he was above everyone?
He just wanted to know what his deal was, why he couldn't keep friends. And he wanted all his friends back.
Jimmy... only talks to people for business matters now. And he doesn't bother being friendly. It doesn't earn him any friends but it keeps people from getting too close. Gotta stop the spark before it can start a fire, right?

Hi!! Stopping by to say I love Zhar /ZharNikolai and if you have the time, Can we have some Fun facts about her :D?
OCs Masterlist (Zhar and Riot so far)
Behold the first person ever to have slept to the whole Slaughter to prevail discography. Nobody in Chimera understands, how Zhar manages to do it, but she sleeps after missions somewhere in the hangar, not bothered by Nikolais music.
Olga moved to England at the age of 16. She learnt military terms much faster than everyday phraseologisms. So when she first met Alex on a joint mission, he wished her to break a leg. She thought, he hated her.
Talking about Alex - Olga never understood that joke about him looking like Prices son. Girl just doesn't see anything common in their looks.
After the events of Matters Olga moves to Nikolais place. Of them two, he's the one leaving lights on in every room (because how else is he supposed to move around, when its dark?). She follows him, turning the light off everywhere. This little war of switches continues until one day Nik has enough and installs the smart lighting system.
Celebrating Christmas or New Year's Eve away from Chimera base is something, that makes Olga terrified at first. Because if you leave Krueger alone - he will very likely recreate the Home alone movie on the base. Zhar had to learn it the hard way.
But ever since Nak is recruited - leaving Krueger alone is not a problem anymore.
Once Price found out, Zhar has problems falling asleep - he gave her a weighted blankie for a birthday. "She already has the best blanket in the world," muttered Nikolai. "This one doesn't commit international crimes on a weekly basis," answered Price.
Considering gifts exchange between Price and Nikolai - these guys are just two tall teenagers. They give each other the dumbest tshirts. But if Price doesn't really wear any of them - Nikolai puts his in a good use as the inner layer. Once, Olga was helping Nik out of his overall. She may have some inappropriate thoughts, until she started unzipping the overall and a t was partly revealed.
"Partly", because after she read 'save a horse - ride-' she zipped his overall back, turned and walked away. They both laughed afterward, each in their own office.
PS Vasya, I love you so much! By the way, did you know, that Bi2 release a concert video on every New Years eve? Here is the newest one. I thought of you, when I saw a notification on youtube))))

"It's so obvious... it's embarrassing..." you complain for the tenth time. Haru had no further comment to make on the conversation, but just calmly drank her beer.
"Just admit that you're jealous. It's not a crime, you know?", she's too busy looking for Jin to notice your frown.
Jungkook arrived a little later than the other members and you could see that he had gone home to change. His hair was way too neat for someone who had been dancing for hours. He was wearing his usual black outfit that looked way too good on him for your taste. The girl who had literally been following him literally since he arrived seemed to love his outfit as well, because she touched his chest at least four times since you started counting. You weren't jealous, of course. Of course I wasn't. Why would I be jealous? He's not your boyfriend anymore. It's just that this girl... she didn't seem like a pleasant person. She kept grabbing others' chests.
Jungkook didn't seem to mind her touch at all, though he could be seen looking around far too many times. What was he looking for? Could it be you? No. He was probably still mad at you, even more so after you texted him earlier to tell him to back off. Haru laughed because he liked the way you reacted to Jungkook and the girl. Maybe that could motivate you to do something other than cry when he wasn't around.
"I'm not jealous, Haru!"
"Yeah, tell that to your face," Haru patted your shoulder and stood up. "I'll go talk to Jin if you'll excuse me," she grins and fixes her clothes.
You're ready to say something about her and Jin, but you pause when you see Jungkook bow to the girl and reject the drink she offers him, pointing to his own. Always a gentleman. Fucking great, you think. After two shots, a beer and many glances at Jungkook and the bitchy girl, you're ready to go to bed when Jimin approaches you. You've missed him.
Jimin actually manages to distract you by telling you all the things you've missed since he last saw you. About the new songs, his collaborations and Namjoon's new project. He's a lovable guy, you think to yourself. Much more lovable than a certain boy who let anyone touch his chest for no reason. Jimin notices your glance in the corner and realises very quickly what's going on. He can't help but chuckle, amazed at your reaction and Jungkook's inability to pretend he doesn't like being stared at by you. Jimin actually heard the conversation between Jungkook and the girl. Jungkook was telling her about a friend who broke up with his girlfriend but was too in love to let her go. A funny story. Apparently too funny, since the girl kept laughing and touching him, and Jungkook didn't seem to mind. He had a plan and it worked. As you end your conversation with Jimin, he hugs you and assures you and Jungkook would be okay somehow, even though he didn't bring up the subject once in your conversation. Jimin is too good for his world, you're sure.
"YN?", you hear the voice you love the most call out behind you, and you turn around. Jungkook looked even better up close. And he smelled even better, too. But why is he smirking at you? "You look like you're about to bust a vein. You alright?", he points at your forehead and sits down where Jimin is sitting.
"Yup" you finish the rest of your drink and slam the cup down on the counter, startling Jungkook a little. "I'm fucking fine."
The girl continued to look at Jungkook from a distance, completely ignoring you standing right next to him. Wow. You look to Jungkook who is too busy admiring how pretty you look to pay attention to your dagger look at him.
"Good to see you could make it. You seem to be having a blast" you signal to the girl on the other side, who is annoyingly still looking at him. Jungkook looks in the direction you're drawing with a confused face.
"What do you mean?"
You chuckle and reach for another beer that's right in front of you. How many have you had? You really couldn't count.
"You're so oblivious. "
"Oh, come on. Don't worry about her. We're just friends," Jungkook gives you his bunny smile and tries to lighten the mood, but it's no use. "How can you be friends with her when I've never seen this girl once in my life, Jungkook?! Who is she?"
Jungkook laughed even harder, enjoying all your reactions. "Are you jealous of me? Seriously?", he can't control his laughter right now, but you don't see where the fun is. Jungkook pokes you in the side, making you yelp.
"Stop that! And you're naive if you think she just wants to be your friend," you bark back, giving her your scariest look, but Jungkook couldn't be less interested on her. To be honest, he didn't even remember the name the girl just said to him."
You're jealous, aren't you?"
"I am NOT jealous, Jungkook! I'm being absolutely reasonable. I just don't like the way she looks at you, that's all.", you stand up and get ready to leave.
"Where are you going?", he holds your hand and keeps you in your seat.
"I feel dizzy. Need air."
"I could make you feel better." Jungkook grins, stealing the color from your face and the air from your lungs. You must be hallucinating, or Jungkook had too much confidence in your ability to not jump him right there. Or maybe it was both.
"How much did you drink, Jungkook?" you looked at his cup, trying to defuse the situation, but Jungkook grinned, showing you his cup.
"This is soda." the look on your face is priceless. "I'm sober as a judge, babe."
Why did he do that? Why was he flirting like that? And why didn't you stop him? If you let Jungkook do this, things will only get worse. You've already hurt him enough to keep this back and forth going.
"How could I make you jealous, YN?" he asks genuelny. "I melt when you say my name."
Jungkook takes a step closer and lets you take the next step. He won't touch you unless you ask him to. There's only so much he can tease and so much he can take if you reject him again. You take a step closer, which makes his heart beat way too fast. So fast that Jungkook actually thinks you can feel it right above his shirt. He rests his forehead on yours and suddenly it's just the two of you. Just like it was before. The rest of the world ceases to exist. It's just you and him now. And it1s all he needs. Jungkook leans over, grabs your chin, and tilts his head to kiss you, but you pull back.
"I...we...", you shake your head, searching for the words, but they have disappeared with the rest of the world. "I can't do this.", you walk away and run out of the house. Jin and Haru are too busy talking and laughing to notice.
Jungkook quickly ponders whether to let you run away or chase after you. Before he could decide, he was already running out the door.
"Yah! Wait a minute," he chases after you. You're staying at Haru's house, where are you even going? Jungkook reaches you without any problem, holds your hand and brings you to a stop. "Wait.", he tries to catch his breath and prays that you don't run away again. "I'm sorry for trying to kiss you. It wasn't appropriate," he touches your shoulders and tries to get you to look at him. "I'm sorry."
You just want to hug him, but you hold back. This is what happens when you let things get out of control. And again, you're making Jungkook feel bad about something that isn't even his fault.
"None of this is your fault, Jungkook," your eyes fill with tears as you avoid his gaze.
"YN, what's going on?", Jungkook keeps his hands on your shoulders and holds you in place. "Tell me what's going on, babe," he pleads.
Where to start? There's something very strange and very dark about someone asking you what's wrong, and there are so many things you can start with. You think of so many approaches, so many ways to start the conversation, to start your confession, but you can't find one. There's no point. Nothing would change whether you told him or not. You'd only make it worse. You always do.
"I'm okay, don't worry," you look him in the eye and try to smile. "I'm just really tired... you don't have to worry, really," you wink at him, but Jungkook isn't convinced. You've done it again. Avoid. Running away. For a second, he thought you'd given up on that. Jungkook nods and lets go of your shoulders.
"You're still not used to normal, huh?" he says bitterly.
"Normal?"
"Yeah. Still not used to people caring about you." he stopped smiling. He just seemed... tired.
"Jungk..."
"No. It's okay, YN. I won't pressure you," he shrugs. "I just wanted to know if you were okay."
"I am.", you force yourself to smile again, but your cheeks are shaking so much that you can't hold it for long. "I'm sorry", you stare at the floor.
Jungkook says nothing for a while before deciding to break the silence. "For what? Why are you sorry?"
"For everything," you confess, "My default is self-destruct, Kook. And the most complicated part of your life was me... I'm sorry for everything. I feel like you wasted your time because of me. I owe you so much..."
"You don't owe me anything," he states firmly. What kind of way is that to talk? "Yeah, maybe your default is self-destruct and yeah, you are a little complicated," he laughs lightly, "but I liked the complicated parts too, you know?"
You lift your gaze from your feet and look at him.
"Really?"
Jungkook smiles at you again and nudges you lightly on the shoulder. "When have I ever lied to you?"
Jungkook looked so beautiful but sad at the same time. But he still gave you a warm smile. Why was he  like that? Why couldn't he just hate you? That would make everything easier for him. For you. You close your eyes and try to hold back your tears, but you can't anymore. Your body starts to shake, overwhelmed by the fact that you tried to hold back the tears for so long. Jungkook doesn't say anything, he just moves closer to you and hugs you tightly. So tight that for a moment, you think you hear his heartbeat.
You don't know how much time passes, but it seems like a lot, because people on the street start to stare. Jungkook notices this too and holds you a little bit tight, just in case.
"I should really be going." he says softly, still not letting go of you. "I won't ask anything else tonight, I promise. But I need to ask you something," he waits for you to nod your head.
"I need you to be okay, YN. 'Cause I can't bear the thought of you not being." he holds you close and strokes your hair, scared you're gonna leave again. Scared you'll leave him. "Don't close yourself off to the world, okay? You and I know you tend to do that when you're sad... Even when things don't go the way you want them to. Don't cry alone, don't get sick alone, and take care of yourself. Can you do that for me?"
You nod again, unable to speak, as Jungkook gently lets go of you. He fixes his clothes and lets you dry your tears. He's ready to ask Jin if he was ready to go. He has no idea that Jin is too busy listing all his favorites recopies to Haru, who seems far too interested in the subject. Haru couldn't even boil an egg.
"Hey," Jungkook calls attention to himself once more before turning to leave. "You don't have to be jealous of her, you know. Or of anyone, for that matter. None of them can hold a candle to you."

How open is your character(s) to trying new things? Does their desire to go out of the box have limits; ie. they don't mind trying new foods but you'd be hard-pressed to get them to holiday anywhere outside of their comfort zone?
Tumblr media
C'allie will try anything once.
Anything.
And if someone she loves is really into whatever the new thing is, be it a very spicy dish or a weird sex toy, C'allie is willing to keep trying it until she's either Certain It Is Not For Her or she's at least lukewarm towards it. She's really more likely to become fond of something for her spouses' sakes rather than not, but hey, she didn't like martinis when she first tried them and now she finds them quite tasty.
Who knows what else she might end up delighting in? Best to just try everything (and everywhere and... everyone) just in case. Even crime. She's all about giving new types of crime a shot!
While Anna... She's not adverse to trying new things, but it absolutely must be her idea to do so.
If Seifer leaves a new bottle of wine sitting around, she'll sample it. If someone insists she try this new vintage from Thavnair, she'll adamantly refuse. And become decidedly hostile if someone pushes the point. If someone mentions an interesting location in passing, Anna'll take Seifer to see it, but if he insists on going somewhere for a vacation, she'll balk.
However, offer her a new spellcasting technique and she'll immediately want to learn it, test it, refine it, turn it into something uniquely hers.
Narasen is... reluctant to visit new locations (and equally reluctant to visit some old locations) and even more reluctant to meet new people without Voranoix right at hand. (He's really much more outgoing and charismatic than she is.) She's very uncomfortable in strange surroundings or around strangers (either individually or in groups) and prefers one OR the other.
She can visit a new place with her husband or she can meet a new person in a safe location. Either/Or -- not both.
However, she's perfectly willing to try any dish, wear a new style of clothing, pick up a book from a different genre or author. As long as the novelty can be explored from the security of home, she's game for anything.
Now Summer will go anywhere and try anything, provided whatever she's trying doesn't violate her principles. This means no one angling to have her try a one night stand is going to succeed--she is fiercely devoted to her One True Love. Anyone trying to get Summer to try a new drink, visit a new location, meet a new person, or try a new thing like 'slap frog'* or juggling will be met with enthusiasm and interest.
She loves exploring most of all. Finding new places, visiting new locations is part of what fuels her writing. And her One True Love shares that interest, which makes the exploration doubly fun as it's something she and Kona do together.
And Chessi is fairly similar in her willingness to go anywhere and try anything. She's spent years of her life surviving rather than living and so enjoys experiencing new foods and beverages especially. If Sezra wants to explore a new location or take up a new hunt bill, she's delighted to accompany him.
Where Chessi becomes much more hesitant is when a single stranger, often with others affiliated with them lingering in the background, approaches her to smile and ask if she wants to see something neat. She does truly and devoutly believe the best in people and Chessi is, honestly, pretty slow on the uptake. That particular setup, however, happened to her often enough (with upsetting or even painful results) that she becomes nervous if it happens again.
Anyone in her small family can offer her anything, ask anything of her, send her anywhere and Chessi won't hesitate a moment. Anyone she considers a friend (or more specifically considers her a friend) can ask her to do anything, sight unseen. And luckily for her, she's now met enough loving people that no one takes advantage of that anymore.
