The most fascinating thing about this whole Joe Hills sexyman campaign to me is that it's so quickly becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy. I think the important thing to take away about these videos about Somerton and other YouTubers who plagiarize and make up facts whole cloth is that this is how a lot of people are getting all of their information now - this is how all these weird ridiculous things start spreading across social media, how people end up convinced that the wildest of lies are true, how nuance dies a gruesome death. Whether or not you personally have ever heard of or watched these people is irrelevant. (Yes, you've never heard of these people, you're very smart and unique and superior, good for you, I guess.) The point is to know where this bullshit is coming from so you can better refute it, or better, teach other people how to do their own research and make these videos be the starting point of learning, not the sum total of it.

Related, I'm now watching the toddintheshadows video, and I think I've said "what the FUCK" more times than I have in a short amount of time ever, and I'm not even an hour in. Seriously. What the FUCK.

Okay but one of my favourite random differences between the Scott Pilgrim graphic novels, the film and the series is the difference between what happened to Crash and the Boys in/before the Matthew Patel fight lmao

-In the graphic novels they play their set at the Rockit, send everyone to sleep, and then leave like normal people

-In the film they play their set, do NOT send everyone to sleep, and then hang around the stage and get fucking burned alive onscreen by Mr Patel

-And in the series they just don't show up

it's just so surreal thinking back to when i got into obikin back in 2020 even then the idea of seeing live action obi-wan or anakin was so far off and remote to not even feel possible. hayden in clone wars armor and obi-wan his tatooine era depression fit were mere concepts of the imagination. now though only a few years later, we're sitting on what feels like an enormous pile of riches, with so much new live action footage of the team. look how far we've come, etc. i know disney+ is basically a net negative for society, but the star wars tv shows have entertained me greatly with my favorite characters. as the fan being served with these shows, i'm thriving lol

I was looking at a lot of cartoons from the 80s and 90s that I grew up with (primarily, and at the top of my head, Don Bluth films, Carebears, and the 90s Moomins cartoon) for style inspo and Welcome to Night Vale/Magnus Archives for the spooky undertones :o) Oh but yes I'd love to talk about Teddy HAHA He comes from a very rough background/upbringing and had to change himself a lot in order to make himself more appealing to a wider audience, so he hardly recognizes himself when he looks in the mirror; he also uses his abilities for entertainment now (and other secret intentions!) rather than survival, so I think he feels as though he had lost himself along the way. What he presents outwardly isn't what he feels is truly himself!
