Maybe you're just being paranoid. Perhaps the scratching at your back door wasn't some crazed killer messing with you before the inevitable. In fact, it's extremely likely you've simply stayed up too late and now your brain is playing tricks. But are you willing to take that chance? Absolutely not.
The fifth scratch comes and you're picking up the phone to dial the first person you can think of.
Chan reaches your home at a speed only possible by violating a few traffic laws. Armed with nothing but a broken broomstick and his dinosaur bedroom slippers. You're not even sure he's entirely awake. But he marches his way through your home and straight to the back door with conviction, advising you to stay back while he handles it.
He lowers his voice a few octaves as he speaks. "Whoever is out there, you better knock it off!" The scratching noise picks up. "I'll come out there!" Chan warns, though sounding a little unsure. Yet the scratching never ceases.
At this point, the genius thought to call the police finally enters your panicked brain. Something that probably should have been your first instinct. But it's too late, you can hear Chan thrusting the door open. "Alright, you asked for it– oh..."
When your savior returns, a fluffy orange creature in hand, you feel your face drain of all color. Your friend's cat. The one you were supposed to be sitting while they were away on a business trip. You'd forgotten you'd even let him outside to explore hours ago.
Chan points to the cat with a mock-serious look, "Is this guy bothering you, babe?"
Though severely embarrassed, you let out a sigh of relief. "I'm so sorry, Peanut," you coo at the cat, carefully taking him from your boyfriend's arms and carrying him over to his food, which you're certain is what he was scratching to get in for.
When you spin back around, Chan's arms are crossed over his chest, an expectant look on his face. "You know, usually the knight in shining armor gets a kiss for his bravery."
The playful tone in his voice alleviates some of the guilt you feel for calling him over at two a.m. to defend you from a killer cat. A gesture for which you're more than happy to reward with a kiss or two. And once he's claimed his prize, Chan happily gathers you in his arms. He rubs circles into your back, soothing any remaining anxiety in your muscles.
"I'm sorry you came all the way here for nothing," you mumble into his shoulder. "I guess I watched one too many crime shows and sort of panicked."
"You don't need to apologize. It's my job to be here whenever you need me." He pulls back and takes your face in his hands, holding your gaze with genuine eyes. "I would do anything for you."
That confession earns him a second kiss, causing him to break out in a dopey grin. "My hero," you tease, although he looks rather proud of himself for it.
"One question though?"
"What's that?"
"If you thought someone was trying to break in, why didn't you just call the police?"
Trust, Chan is over the moon to be the person you call in a time of need. But realistically, what was he supposed to do? Fight to the death with his bare hands and a broomstick to save you? He absolutely would... doesn't mean he'd win.
You pause. "I don't know, I guess I just panicked and thought of you first."
Chan is probably going to be riding that ego boost for the rest of his life.

HEARTLESS 💔 - FINAL CHAPTER
Tumblr media
Agent Whiskey (Jack Daniels) x f!reader
Summary: A wedding, a new addition to the family and revisiting memories finally bring the Daniels family their well-deserved happy ending ❤️
(This is the last chapter of the HEARTLESS 💔 series)
• YOU CAN READ THE ENTIRE SERIES ON MY MASTERLIST
Warnings: a tad bit of angst (but not really, it's mostly just expressing emotions and revisiting sad memories), mentions of suicidal thoughts, fluff, brief smut (more like mentions of it), tension, talks of becoming a widow, Wyatt and his baby sister being the most adorable kids in the world, happy ending ❤️
A/N: it took me so long to get this done, I guess nearly six months, I don't know, I feel I sort of lost my way with this story, but I had to come back and finish our cowboy adventure, give them their happy ending. I love you all and I really hope you enjoy this chapter, I thank you everyone who has followed this story and showed me support through all these months of writing! It wouldn't have happened if it weren't for you ❤️🫶

Nothing could have prepared you for the reaction your cowboy had the moment you broke the news to him you were pregnant - or rather he found out about it by spotting the test boxes in the bathroom trash. You had been worried about everything, so many scenarios running through your head, always anticipating the worst and making you fear each single measure he could take. Just to have a grown ass cowboy on his knees before you, his face resting against your womb as he blinked away the tears that insisted on flooding those brown baby cow eyes of his. He just worshiped you, mumbling so many words you couldn't quite tell what they were, but the way he looked up at you, as if you were his whole world, made your heart skip a beat. It was a terrifying change, but you oddly didn't feel scared, not at that moment, not when you had Whiskey at your feet, showing he wasn't going anywhere, he was committed and devoted to you, to his family, a family that was growing, just like that tiny little seed in your womb, that was going to grow into a full baby, a blessing to that undeserving man, something he prayed for every single night, there was nothing Jack Daniels wanted more than to be a good man to his family, to be the husband and the father you and the kids deserved.
The kids.
He chuckled to himself at the thought of it, something that seemed just like a distant dream short days ago, was now a reality, the fact Wyatt was about to become a big brother, and the overwhelming love he felt for his son, also multiplying towards his second child. It was also terrifying to him, to love someone he hadn't even met yet, and how that could be taken away from in the blink of an eye like it happened to him before. He shook his head, squinting his eyes unaware of the tears that rolled down his cheeks, chasing those thoughts away. Nothing would happen to his family, you, Wyatt and the little angel inside of you would be just fine, because that was his responsibility and he would fight for it until his last breath. You felt his tears against your bare skin and a gut feeling told you exactly what he was thinking about, you didn't want him suffering for that, things wouldn't be as tragic as they were, Jack Daniels was a heavily traumatized man, who lived in fear of losing his family by not being good enough to protect them. You couldn't let your cowboy suffer in anticipation like that, so you pushed him gently, sitting on the floor to face him in the same eye level and stroked his cheek, the way his eyes were red with tears and he sniffed even if he tried his best to control his emotional reaction, reminded you so much of Wyatt, your son being the tiny little version of him. You placed your lips on Jack's forehead, then you went to his cheek kissing his tears away and finally to his lips, never breaking eye contact, at the same time he wrapped his arms around you, pulling you as close as possible, needing the reassurance only your touch could provide. You kept your cowboy so close to your heart, taking deep breaths and letting his presence sink in, finally realizing how much you'd missed your cowboy, spending days apart from him. You had been so deep into your own thoughts after finding out about the pregnancy you completely neglected the side that craved your cowboy with you. You wanted to hold him, kiss and make love to him, but at that moment, you could see the vulnerability in his eyes.
It broke your heart; Jack was a strong, fearless man towards anything that did not involve his family. He was able to take down dozens of enemies in a fight, he could face the most furious bull in a ring, he didn't fear death or pain when he was out in the world protecting a nation that didn't even know they were in danger to begin with, but he was not that brave when it came to his sugar and his son, and especially not once they added a baby into the mix. One could call him paranoid, but he was just not willing to take the slightest risk, it had happened once, it wasn't going to happen twice.
"Sugar, I-”
His voice cracked, he had tears in his eyes, threatening to spill at any given second, he wanted to promise you, word it out loud how hard he would fight for you, for your relationship as a couple, your upcoming wedding, he wanted to assure you you could splurge as much as you wanted, choose whatever made you happy, he wanted to throw himself at your feet like the dog he was, he wanted to cry and beg your forgiveness even if he had already done that before, more than once, and even if you, out of your superior state of grace, had forgiven him. He wanted to tell you he knew he wasn't worthy of you, but he wasn't strong enough to keep away, he wanted to swear you and the kids would be forever safe, he would do anything you wanted him to: quit Statesman, throw away all his lassos and whips, he would become a goddamn farmer if it were up to you. He wanted to thank you for bringing sense into his life again, for robbing him from those depreciating, suicidal thoughts. He wanted to thank, and beg and promise you, but he couldn't bring himself to say anything at all, all he did was blinking his tears, letting them run down his cheeks. You knew it, you knew it all, he didn't have to say it, you could feel it from his heart to yours. Caressing his cheek gently, you nodded, leaned towards him and kissed his lips once more.
"I know cowboy, I know it”
                               •••
The slight noise of crayons sliding through a sheet of paper filled your ears and brought your attention back to reality. You focused your eyes on the bright colorful shades that added a meaning to a confusing drawing Wyatt was finishing. A pillow under his bum so he could be tall enough to use the coffee table as his personal art table, while he glanced at his baby sister, Rosie, who rested in her baby seat and watched attentively her big brother's every move. The eight-month-old cooed and kicked her little legs, wanting Wyatt's attention back at her, their bond being as strong as it was the day she was born, he giggled at her.
"Calm down, Rosie… I will continue the story in a minute” he said in his smart pants way and turned his head at you, knowing something was up. Wyatt was only six - proudly going 7 in a few months, but he was able to tell whenever you were lying to him. He'd asked if you were alright a couple of times in the last hour, and you'd said yes. But you clearly weren't fine.
Dropping his crayons, he got up and walked towards you, bright brown eyes staring into yours and a comforting smile.
“What happened, mommy?”
“N-nothing happened, honey… why don't you go and keep telling Rosie the story… What story was it?”
"The story of us before she was born…” he said proudly and you let out a chuckle, of course he would want his little sister to know her origins and tell her everything that happened in the months that followed your wedding proposal up to her birth. You allowed yourself to stop the mental torture and point at Rosie who kept cooing in order to have Wyatt talking to her as she loved. As much as the sight melted your heart, a heavy weight in your chest stopped you from taking another breath without feeling pain. Jack should have been there with you. He should be sitting right next to you, playing with his kids and giving you all sorts of dirty smirks hinting at what would go on in your shared bedroom once the kids were off to dreamland. But he wasn't, and you swallowed hard every time you thought about it. You hadn't lied to Wyatt at all, when you said nothing happened; because nothing indeed had happened, the real problem was that something should have happened. He should have declined Champ’s request for a last mission, and being the stubborn cowboy he was, when he got there, he should've killed his enemies straight away, he should have answered Statesman's official communication channels, and above all, he should have arrived home two days ago.
You didn't get contact from him and neither did the agency, even if they actually sent Ginger to your ranch so she would keep you company and make sure you weren't lost in bad thoughts, even if she stood in your kitchen making you a cup of tea, always offering you dozens of stories in which Whiskey managed to save the day and showed up at the last minute, it still didn't work, quite the opposite, it made it everything worse. But you had to remain strong for the kids, there was no reason to spread panic, even if you were feeling panic yourself, you couldn't do that to them.
You hugged your little boy tight, burying your face into his soft curls, and smiled, looking at your precious Rosie, picking her up from her seat and holding her gently.
"Go ahead, love” you told your son and Wyatt smiled, giggling and tickling her tiny little feet.
"So… after daddy found out you were a little seed in mommy's tummy…”
And at your son's sweet words towards your daughter, your mind drifted off to the memories he was taking so much pride in telling her.
                             •••
“Honey, it's okay, I'm fine, our baby is fine” You'd told your cowboy for the third time but he wasn't convinced just yet, it had been a silly little accident and nothing more: you’d been playing tag with Wyatt and Jack outside when a chicken running lose crossed your path and your tripped over it. Thinking in retrospect, it wasn't silly, it was plain stupid actually, but the moment Jack saw you tumbling, he ran towards you as fast as possible, immediately lifting you up and placing his hand on your belly. The pregnancy was now two months along, and your soon-to-be husband was always in a state of alert, just like a guard dog, he wouldn't leave your side unless it was strictly necessary to, and at any slight glimpse of danger - well, his exaggerated conception of danger -, he would be ready to act.
"Sugar please, you fell down, that's something pregnant women aren't supposed to do, let's just go to town, get you to the clinic, have one of those fancy ultrasounds exams and make sure everything’s fine. Afterwards, Wyatt can have one of those happy meals he loves and you can check up any remaining wedding details you'd like to”
You both knew there was no detail you hadn't double checked in the month and a half you'd found out about the pregnancy. Your wedding was all set and ready to take place - a week from then, at the Daniels’ ranch. Everything was thoughtfully chosen, organized and done despite how fast things were going. However, the fear in that man's eyes made you nod and agree to his request. You knew you were okay, just as your baby was okay, but he didn't, not when his worst nightmare haunted him every single day, giving him no breaks or concessions; the horror of losing yet another child taking away his logical rational side more often than he'd liked. So you did it for him, for your worried cowboy. For the cowboy who wouldn't keep his hand away from your small baby bump and would pray silently for things to be okay.
“Alright Jack, let's go”
You gave in to his request and allowed him to help you climb up the Bronco, along with Wyatt safely tucked in the backseat just a few moments after he ran inside to grab you and himself a jacket. Your heart clenched with an overwhelming wave of love, your family was so perfect it didn't even seem to be real. As you watched the ranch become smaller and smaller in the rear mirror, Wyatt played with some dinosaur toys in the backseat, you noticed the cemetery entrance Whiskey drove by; the same cemetery Gabriella was buried with her unborn baby and that brought another pang towards your chest. You thought of her and her baby, and the joy and expectations she must've had, you thought of your own cowboy, and how hard it must've been for him to receive the news that destroyed his life. Placing your hand on your womb, you stroked it gently. You weren't worried until then, but the cold realization of what happened to your fiance, was enough to spike the doubt. Life was going so well for you, perhaps too well, and you worried at some point the good wave of luck would die out. Thoughts wandered, but a heavy hand rested on your thigh, snapping you out of your thoughts. Jack glanced at you, still keeping his attention on the road, but making sure to look into your eyes.
"It's going to be fine sugar, our sweet little bean is here, safe and sound”
You nodded thankfully for his words and tried calming down, knowing you'd be in town soon.
You could list the most emotional moments of your life: your first kiss, your first love, the first time you ever saw that pathetic handsome cowboy, the instant you fell in love with him, your first time with your cowboy, the first time you exchanged love words, finding out you were pregnant with Wyatt, listening to his first heartbeats and you could spend a lifetime listing all of those moments. So you figured the moment you heard your newest baby's heartbeat for the first time, you wouldn't become too emotional, but you were definitely wrong. The moment the loud heartbeat filled the room, your heart raced like crazy, looking around you saw your cowboy's eyes filled with tears, a sweet smile as he leaned in and pecked your lips gently, at the same time Wyatt's happy grin also caught your attention. The way he clapped his small hands so excitedly and giggled.
“See mommy? Baby sissy is alright!”
He said happily, as he was sure he would get a sister, and turns out, he was right all along.
That night, after Wyatt was safely tucked into bed, Jack came over to you, a basket and blankets in hand, a shit eating grin as he cornered you and kissed your cheeks, before going south and getting to your neck. Goosebumps spread all over your skin, you knew exactly what he was thinking of and you couldn't help but chuckle. He was still your handsome, charming silly cowboy and you loved him with every fiber of your being. He didn't even need to say anything, just offering you his hand, knowing you'd take it without questioning and without further ado, you two were quickly running through the green grass of the ranch, escaping to your old getaway spot, the one you'd spend uncountable hours with your cowboy, just enjoying the sunlight or the moonlight, relaxing and hiding away from everything and everyone. The early stages of your relationship, where you didn't know if you and the cowboy would actually become something more than a steamy affair, before even dreaming of getting pregnant with his child and going through everything you did. You would both get into your favorite date place: the barn.
Just a blanket to make things comfortable, some treats to nibble on and all the love flowing through your veins.
"It's been so long since we came here” you told Whiskey, as he opened the door and welcomed you after him. He didn't say anything, not before pressing you against the wall and stealing a kiss. And that cowboy was hungry for you. The way his hands gripped your waist before roaming over you, his heavy breathing and a whole new discharge of hormones thanks to your pregnancy, got you so worked up, your hands sinking into the softness of his hair, his stetson lying on the floor at how fast your make out session started.
"Missed you, sugar.. it was about time we came up to our good ol' barn, ain't it right? Just us… ‘cause mommy and daddy gotta have their fun” Jack's heavy breathing was so enticing to you, the way he hungrily went over to your neck and without you even noticing him, he had set the blanket on the floor, making it a cozy place for the two of you to lie down among stacks hay. Smooth dirty cowboy, must've done that a thousand times. If those barn walls could talk, they'd certainly tell the most explicit erotic tales, ones out of many that were actually starred by you. However, there was no place for jealousy of the past, instead you focused on the bright future you got ahead of you and the known fact you were now the only one going to the barn with your cowboy. No other woman would touch him but you, and that was priceless.
By the time you were both finished with your round, all that was left was resting against each other's body. His arms firmly wrapped around you, short nails scratching up and down your naked back, at the same time you nuzzled his chest. His warm skin and his heartbeat, those small details reminding you it was real. Your happiness was real. Love overflowing you at all times and nothing could be better at that moment. As you shifted and lay on your back, Jack's hand immediately rested on your baby bump. It was still quite small, but you could both see it taking its shape, it was your child growing healthy and strongly inside of you. The mixture of you and the cowboy, the final proof your love was so abundant it flooded into something more. Whiskey's hand stroked your skin, a distant smile on his face, as so much went through his mind. He couldn't help but experience so many feelings at once: love, fear, excitement, regret, grief. All of that mixed up in the handsome mess he was. He couldn't wait to meet his sweet daughter, because just like Wyatt, he was also certain it was time for a baby girl Daniels to make her debut in the family, yet, he couldn't help feeling the bitter taste of regret, thinking of all the wasted time and opportunity he could've spent around you and baby Wyatt. Thinking of how he could've and should've been there for you and him. Your first pregnancy, how everything was so new and scary, how hard and stressful things were, how much you and your son needed him. He closed his eyes and silently prayed for forgiveness, trying to convince himself better late than never, which was true, but he could've been a better man. His mind also drifted to very old times, when he wasn't much more than a boy recently graduated from high school, a wedding ring shining and a beautiful, young and bright Gabriella expecting their baby boy. She was supposed to have gone to college that year, if she hadn't gotten pregnant, Jack knew she would've made a great lawyer, exactly like she dreamed of; he often blamed himself for robbing her of her bright future, even if he knew he would've managed to work and given her and their son the best life possible. It was a topic he discussed several times in therapy and grief counseling. At first, he was adamant about not wanting to do it, but Champ only gave him two options: either treat his old deep wounds, or leave Statesman behind and start over with no job, no money, no support. And he was being kind, because more than once Jack heard people telling straight up to his face he should be rotting in jail. The truth was that Champ was right, he needed to, he should've treated himself years ago, it made him understand and finally accept that no one was to blame, but the killers who ended Gabriella's and the baby's lives. It made him see, he had loved them with all his heart, but he was still alive and he was entitled to be happy, he shouldn't feel guilty about loving someone else, about wanting to build a life with someone other than Gabriella, and above all, he understood that his sweet Gabriella would want the same for him, because he was sure if he was the one who died that night at a convenience store, he would never wish her a lifetime of sorrow and grief like he led.
"I think you're miles away from here, Jack…” your voice had snapped him out of his thoughts and brought him back to reality, just as your touch, fingers running through his hair as he chuckled and nodded.
"Just thinking about life, that's all”
"You know I love you, right, cowboy?”
“I do, just as I love you sugar. With my whole heart”
He pecked your lips and then got to your belly, his mustache tickling your skin as he left a trail of little butterfly kisses on your bump.
“And I love you too, baby, with all my soft old heart, a broken heart fixed with so much love and patience by your beautiful mama, your handsome big brother and by you, because I'm sure you're daddy's little sheep”
                      •••
"... So when you still lived in mommy's tummy, daddy called you little sheep, because you were too tiny to be a cowboy and also a girl” Wyatt giggled at his own joke and cooed as Rosie clapped her chubby hands. Your kids’ genuine happiness and innocence filled your heart with love and pride, and the fact your cowboy wasn't anywhere Statesman looked for him, only fueled the worst fears and thoughts you had going on. Raising your two kids on our own wouldn't be impossible, you'd done it before with Wyatt, you'd been strong enough to do it, but that was not the occasion any longer. You wanted your cowboy by your side, Jack and you were meant to be, you were married now and you wanted nothing more than to stay with him for the rest of your life, to watch your kids grow and grow old with him. You loved him with all your heart and that lack of news was driving you insane. Turning to Ginger, she simply shook her head, still no sign of him, and it pierced your heart. You wanted your sweet handsome Jack next to you, so you could both enjoy your family.
"... And then Rosie, mommy married daddy and it was under the willow tree! Remember we played snowman last Christmas there?! Mommy looked like a princess! Mommy, tell Rosie you looked like a princess!”
Wyatt tugged at you and caught your attention again, you kissed your daughter's head gently and then stroked your son's beautiful face. He was the sweetest child you'd ever met, he'd been your best friend for so long, you just nodded at his words.
"And you tell Rosie you looked like a tiny little prince and walked mommy down the aisle!”
“So Rosie…, Mommy and daddy's wedding was so fun! Let me tell you…”
                            •••
The arrangements for the wedding weren't as complicated as you thought they'd be, not when you had Whiskey by your side, always willing to make your dream - and his, come true. No matter the decoration, the dress, the flower arrangement or the buffet. Anything was perfect for him, because at the end of the day, you'd be his forever, his wife, the mother of his beautiful children. You'd sign your name as Mrs.Daniels, just like Wyatt and your baby would. And he couldn't wait for that to become true.
Taking advantage of the fact it was awfully warm for December, you both decided to hold the wedding at the ranch, where you could fit all the guests - nothing too much, just friends, some relatives, fellow agents on Whiskey's part, anyway - and all the other things implied by a wedding: a beautiful altar, a nice dance floor and all the great amount of flowers your cowboy insisted on you gifting you with, roses of course, he loved those as a little boy because his grandma and mama loved them, and it's a commonly well-known fact that above being a Mama's boy, Jack Daniels had been a grandma's boy, which only made you love him even more. He was a roses man, and you knew with all your heart that a little Rosie was growing up in your belly, the perfect mixture of your love and the cowboy's, just like your handsome, precious son Wyatt, was.
The location chosen at the ranch could only be by the willow trees, such a special place for you and your family, it was bound to become even more special. It would be the place where you and Jack would exchange your vows of always loving each other and your family; it was beautiful. The directions were also perfect, the exact balance between simple and elegant. Nothing to be too much, just some fairy lights carefully placed on the trees, white chairs on the green field and several roses of all colors scattered all over the place. You'd always heard men didn't usually take part in those details, but your Whiskey couldn't be further from that; he loved spending every moment helping you decide what you wanted and giving some of his thoughts too. The cake tasting was also another happy occasion: Jack made sure to take you to the best bakery in town, you, him and Wyatt had the hard task of trying a little bit of every cake available in order to pick the right one for the party. You, trusting your boys’ fine taste, you let them pick the cake: strawberry and cream. Everything seemed ready for the two of you to tie the knot. The dress was also easy to find, you weren't picky, you wanted something pretty and comfortable, that would make your baby bump discreet and allow you to enjoy your special day. Taking Wyatt with you so he would help you choose the best outfit, you simply loved how attentive and sweet he was, all the time he clapped his little hands and giggles
"You look pretty mommy!”
That's what you'd heard the most those days.
Your handsome cowboy on the other hand, had his suit completely figured out: after inviting some of the Kingsman agents, Eggsy sent your fiance a special fine tailored suit, the kind that fit your cowboy so perfectly and it hung tight to all the right places. He looked so good, too good it was almost impossible to be able to hold yourself back and honor the agreement you'd both made to wait until the wedding  to sleep together again. It was quite silly to do that, but you remembered being younger and reading somewhere about how having a dry spell a few days before the wedding could fuel the honeymoon even more. You and Jack decided not to travel for your special getaway, he was still very worried about your health, no matter how many times your doctor assured both you and him things were alright with mama and the baby. There was also the fact you didn't have anyone to leave Wyatt with as well, he was a kind and sweet child to be around, but he wasn't used to being away from you for more than just a couple of days. Your mom was completely out of the picture and you and Jack didn't really feel comfortable in hiring someone to watch your boy on such short notice. A couple of weeks at your ranch, enjoying the upcoming end of the year festivities, your family and taking care of your pregnancy didn't sound that bad at all, you were looking forward to it and each time you saw Whiskey, your heart fluttered, thinking of all the happiness ahead of you.
Two days before your wedding, Wyatt woke up sneezing and sniffling, you had warned him not to spend too long around the river with his dad, you weren't certain what kind of vegetation was that, but it was enough to strike an allergic reaction in your little boy; and since Jack had been out to go fishing and Wyatt wouldn't leave his side for two seconds, it was understandable he didn't wake up feeling great, which made you give him some antiallergics in order for him to feel better. It'd worked to an extent, if it weren't for the fact the antiallergic your son got was the drowsy kind and it put him down to sleep through the whole afternoon, so without Wyatt's usual presence around you, always playing or asking millions of those thoughtful and creative questions, you took some time for yourself, relaxing and lying on the couch, waiting for Whiskey to be home. Your future husband was as excited for the wedding as you were, he couldn't wait to say ‘I do’ and finally be able to be your husband, and yet, you could still see there were some days in which Jack's mind wandered and he seemed so lost in thought. Or late at night, it wouldn't be rare to get up to grab a glass of water and find him looking out the window, silently and reflexively, just staring into the darkness outside the window. You hadn't asked what was going on, suspecting it had to do with something extremely intimate, and that didn't worry you one bit, your love was strong and your cowboy was devoted to you, perhaps it was something to do with those ugly thoughts he dealt with a while back; although he'd assured you he still went to the his therapist appointments regularly and things were much better in that sense then. Eventually, you felt your eyes getting heavier and heavier, and you ended up dozing off, your body fully relaxed against the comfortable couch and the warmth of the sunshine coming through the big window.
The distant sound of the Bronco's engine wasn't enough to wake you up by itself, you were so tired, a combination of your pregnancy and all the rush you had been settling things, all you needed was just a couple of hours of extra sleep and you'd be all set. Your sweet cowboy knew that more than you did, so he just tiptoed his way into the kitchen in order not to disturb you. The cowboys sweet tooth was really making him lose focus, so he had to grab a slice of that delicious cake you'd made him; no matter how many times you'd told Jack he looked the same sexy cowboy as always, he was sure he was growing a soft belly, and that was certainly due to your great cooking and mostly baking skills. And yet, he couldn't care less about it. He would trade any abs and fit body in the world for the happiness of your shared domestic bliss. He was so absentmindedly eating his second slice of cake - it was just too good to stop in the first one, he didn't even notice you approaching him, only when you placed your delicate hand on his back he managed to turn around and give you a smile as best as possible, due to the amount of cake he was eating, so you just chuckled and shook your head
“Chew it slowly cowboy” you said sweetly and wiped some crumbles off his cheek and then went to his chest, doing the same with his shirt. His free immediately rested on your belly as he grinned.
"How's the little cowboy?”
"He's alright… I'd like to talk about the big cowboy, though” you told him and saw his puzzled face as you chuckled and wrapped your arms around his neck. Jack's body was so broad and strong, it simply made you always feel safe and quite turned on, although you couldn't get distracted by him. His arms wrapped around your body, heavy hands resting on the small of your back as he sighed, he hoped he wasn't in trouble, although he had quite a good guess what you wanted to talk about. He placed a peck on top of your head and looked into your eyes.
“What is it, sugar?”
"I want to know what's going on, cowboy… I know you're excited about our wedding, just as I am, but sometimes you just get so lost in thought, you wake up in the middle of night and underneath all that spark of happiness, I still see some melancholy underneath… I don't want to see you sad, Jack”
He closed his eyes when he felt your hand on his cheek, the slightest caress was already so comforting for that broken cowboy; he was a screw up but he had the best intentions, all he wanted was to make you happy without having to worry about losing the three of you. You, Wyatt and the baby being much more than he ever deserved, he just wished he didn't worry so much about everything all the time. Taking a seat on the chair and pulling you to his lap, he rested his face on your cleavage, sighing as he wondered if he should actually open up and tell you what was constantly on his mind. What if you somehow misinterpreted what he meant?! What if you got angry with him and his over protection? So many things ran through his mind as he remained in silence for a few seconds, until once more that healing caress of yours snapped him out of his newest wave of melancholy, this time tangled into his messy hair, you could see the tension dissolving from his shoulders and how he was ready to talk.
"I'm so happy with everything that's going on… our wedding, our baby, our cowboy Wyatt growing up stronger than a horse, I spent so long thinking I could never be happy in my life only to be the happiest man in the world. I'm so thankful to you for all of that, sugar. You made me a better man, you made me want to be better for you and our family and now we're welcoming a new baby into our lives, I can't help my excitement to do this with you, sugar, it's my dream coming true”
The cowboy said honestly, this time he was the one who held your face between his hands, caressing it gently and being so delicate towards you like he'd always been. Still, you knew him, being sure there was a little bit more to it than just the pure excitement.
"And…?”
Whiskey licked his lips and gave you a sad smile, seeing nothing would go past you unnoticed, not when it came to him at least. He felt pretty happy and safe because of that, his heart warm at how sweet you were.
“And my mind keeps taking me back to when I was young… All this wedding preparation going on reminds me of the first time I got married… how young and naive I was, how happy Gabriella got, and how hopeful we were when lil Jack was growing in her belly” he swallowed hard and lowered his eyes “please sugar, don't think I'm comparing you two or that I still love Gabriella in that way, but it makes me sad to think my boy could've become a man, a big strong cowboy, and his mama should be a hell of a successful woman by now. I know I discussed this hundreds if not thousands of times over the years, but their fate was just so unfair, and along with that, the fear of losing you and our beautiful little family the way I lost them starts creeping up in my chest and I just get so paranoid over everything an-”
You interrupted your cowboy with a kiss; touching his lips with yours, feeling the warmth of him irradiating onto you, the way his arms wrapped around you and he deepened the kiss, loving to have a taste of you, especially when his mouth couldn't make the right words, he knew his heart could, and above all, your heart could listen to it. And you understood it, you really did, it wasn't because Jack still thought of his late wife, not in that way, but he just couldn't help wondering what would've happened if things didn't go the tragic way they did. Your cowboy was a romantic and sensitive man, no matter what he tried saying or doing. You broke the kiss with a gentle smile and took his hand “come on, cowboy, let's go for a ride” you told him as you dragged him out of the kitchen, stopping midway just to let Helen know you and Jack would be gone for a while and she should keep an eye on Wyatt just in case.
The walk to the stables was quick, as your cowboy didn't hesitate in going after you, still slightly puzzled as to why you decided to go out like that, but the moment he saw your smile, he went soft: he would do anything for you. You finally let go of his hand and went to Silver Pony, greeting her and petting her head, warming up his heart. Jack loved how sweet and kind to the animals he kept at the ranch you were, knowing you loved that beautiful horse, just as much as Wyatt loved his beautiful little pony, he frowned softly as he saw you getting the saddle and putting it on your horse.
"I thought we'd agree you wouldn't ride horses for now, you know, to prevent stuff in case you fall or-” you interrupted your cowboy with another peck on the lips, knowing he wouldn't resist further than that. Smiling you shook your head slightly
"You know, it's funny you don't want me to ride a horse but you do want me to ride a cowboy every single night” you winked as you saw a slight red shade crossing his cheeks before he cleared his throat “come on, Jack, I'll be safe, I'll be with you, you're the best cowboy in the world, the best I've ever seen, we'll just take a short ride and that's it…”
And with your puppy eyes, you managed to convince him. Like you always did.
And you were right after all, the ride was short and calm, nothing different went on, as you two exited the ranch entrance and took the small side road towards the fruit trees, the cowboy just assumed you were going to pick up some to make a dessert or something similar, but the moment you crossed the fruit path and walked a bit further, stopping by the cemetery, was when he finally realized what you'd had in mind. He did not see that coming, a part of him still tried to deflect him from considering that, but when he saw you getting off Silver Pony and picking up some flowers, it was the confirmation he needed.
“S-sugar, why? Why are we here?”
He asked as you took his arm and made your way inside of that holy place.
"I think it's important, maybe this will ease your mind, Jack… I know how hard this subject still is for you, and I also know you haven't visited her in a while. I think it's important for you, and well, for me too, that way we can soothe these feelings that still haunt you, cowboy. Let's go, I do it with my heart open”
And with your encouraging words, your cowboy Jack Daniels took your hand and walked towards his late wife's grave, knowing it was always a bittersweet feeling, but above all, necessary. He hadn't been there in a while, it was almost as if he'd lost the habit of doing so, not feeling that need of visiting them, not after he started attending therapy and realized he had to let his first family go, not after he realized he needed to fight for the family he had with you and that was the most important thing. Still, around special dates such as their anniversary or worse, the anniversary of their passing, he felt he had to honor them by showing up and leaving a couple of flowers. Jack was also aware that you visited their grave once and it warmed his heart. You took some of your time to acknowledge their existence in a substantial way and not treat them as if they were just his weird obsession. Once he realized you both stood in front of the tombstone, he took a deep breath. No matter if years and decades went by, the sight of their names written there always pierced his heart. He knew his relationship with Gabriella could've taken so many turns if she hadn't died: they could've been together until this day or they could've split up, they could still have feelings for each other or hate each other's guts, so many possibilities, none of them would ever come true, but what shattered his heart for real, was to think of his little boy, think of his little Jack, still so small and fragile inside his mommy's tummy, unlike Gabriella, Jack never got to hold him, never got to look into his eyes or caress his hair. Technically, it should've been easier for him to get over the loss of someone he had never met, but it wasn't, if anything, it was even worse, because he could never stop himself from wondering what would've happened. Would his son be good at school or get bad grades? Would be a mama's boy like Whiskey himself was as a kid or would he be rebellious? If he'd followed his dad's step and found his sweetheart earlier in life, there was a fat chance Whiskey would be a grandpa by then.
But those ifs and might-have-beens were just spiculation. There was no way to know it, and not to descend into madness once more living off daydreams and made up scenarios, was that he seeked help. He was better now, better than he'd ever been, but at emotional times like those, it was quite difficult not to be caught in the moment, so he felt startled when you placed your hand on his shoulder.
"Do you want me to go and give you some time?” You suggested as you placed the flowers on Gabriella's and the baby's graves, you had a gut feeling that moment was important for your cowboy, but now that you were actually there, you felt slightly dislocated, not knowing exactly what to do or what to say, it felt so intimate to be there, to see Jack's eyes fill up with tears, but instead of asking you for a moment, he tightened his grip around your hand and kept you in place. The two of you closed your eyes and said a silent prayer to his first family. You thanked Gabriella for taking care of your Jack and promised her you would make him happy, not letting him fall into his old depressive habits again; you also wished her and her baby's soul peace and happiness in heaven. Jack, on the other hand, prayed for them and for his new family, he told them he would always keep them both in his heart but it was time to let them rest, they'd never be forgotten or unloved, but the cowboy had another family to love and protect, he asked them for their blessing and he burst out crying when he spotted a blue butterfly on Gabriella's grave. She used to love butterflies and blue was her favorite color. It could've been a sign or not, he wasn't really sure, but the fact was that a weight seemed to be lifted off his chest at the same time he pulled you for a hug and thanked you for going there with him.
Truth was: if roles were reversed and Jack had died that night instead of Gabriella, he would've wanted her to move on and find peace and love with someone who could truly make her happy, so he finally realized and convinced himself there was no reason for him to do that, his late wife would've wanted the same.
                             •••
As Ginger got off the phone and paced the room, you felt your throat tightening with anxiety and worry; your chest was so heavy and the tears threatened to splurge from your eyes at any moment, there was still no sign of your cowboy and the way Ginger seemed tense as she whispered information with whoever was at the agency, only brought you even more fear of having lost your husband. You eyed the kids, who behaved perfectly and it pained you not being able to appreciate that, you wish you could sit down with them, talk and play, smile and hold them, but at that moment you were so unavailable, all you needed was to have some news from your cowboy, that was all you wished for; you wish you could hold him tight, you wish you could feel his presence, his warm, his scent all over you again. You craved your cowboy, your husband, and you couldn't even begin to consider the possibility of not having him anymore, at the same time those depressive thoughts were the only ones that crossed your mind. Wyatt complained about being hungry and as much as you should have gotten up and started making him dinner, you simply couldn't move yourself from your seat. Everything hurt and the way Ginger hung up and simply shook her head, signaling there were still no words about your cowboy, just shattered your heart. You discreetly dried a single tear and nodded at her, as you buried your hand into your son's curly hair - exactly like his dad's when he went a few extra weeks without a pretty decent trim. Even at your gentle caress, Wyatt still whined about being hungry, but seeing you were under no conditions of making them dinner, Ginger offered herself to make him some mac&cheese while Helen immediately stepped up to prepare Rosie's bottle. You thanked them and enjoyed a moment of silence as you were left in the living room by yourself. You shook your head thinking of things you couldn't actually change, but if you had that power you would've insisted him to stay, not to take that last mission, the future for the two of you along with the kids was just so bright, you had so many possibilities, he didn't need the money, he should've just stayed home with you. It should be a quiet evening, having a family dinner together, feeding and bathing the kids and then snuggling in bed, feeling those quick strong hands of his, roaming all over your body while those devilish lips whispered the most sinful things in your ear.
If only.
You sighed and got up, walking around the living room, stretching your legs and trying to control that huge sadness that seemed to have taken over you like a dark thick shadow that wouldn't go away. As you went to the window and watched it how the overcast sky had turned into a dark night, cold night, you saw the trees moving softly with the wind, which blew coldly through the leaves, you thought of how thoughtful Jack had become those early days before the wedding, how he would just stare outside and allow his mind to drift away, you knew now he had thought of his late wife and how things could've been different for her, you didn't want to think of that, because your troubled mind would wonder if you had really lost your husband already, if your worst nightmare had become true, if he would be reunited with Gabriella at that moment. So many ifs, as much as you fought that thought it didn't seem so distant which made you gasp and finally broke into tears. It was torture. Your heart was broken.
When you looked out the window once more, your eyes were still blurred with tears, as you tried controlling yourself, knowing it wasn't the time for your kids to see your outburst, so at first, you didn't actually see that curious figure moving in the darkness, it wouldn't even make sense to you, no one could be possibly wandering around, the glimpse of a mysterious figured might've been confused with a hallucination, but not the sound of a horse's hooves approaching the house. That was very real, you realized, the moment you raised your head and frowned trying to see exactly who it was. It wasn't possible, was it? The thing you'd been praying for the most for the past couple of days, had you fallen asleep? Were you dreaming? You wouldn't be able to tell, not with that anxiety bombing you completely making you feel as if your heart was about to beat right out of your chest. Not holding back anymore, you simply ran to the front door, opening it and rushing towards the knight in shining armor coming back home to you.
"Jack!!!” You screamed at the top of your lungs, your face filled with pure emotion as your depressing, pained tears were quickly replaced by happy ones, the relief you felt was enough to spread through your body and make it weak, having the sensation you could reach the ground at any moment, but there was no problem, your cowboy was finally back home.
Noticing you, your despair and your eagerness to see him, Jack immediately got off the couch and finished the path towards you by running. Welcoming you into his eyes, you jumped on him, crying and gripping his body against yours as if your life depended on it. You cried as you felt his hands running up and down your back, the way he whispered sweet little soothing words, reminding you he was finally safely home. You couldn't believe it, one moment you felt terrified you'd have to move onto a sad, depressing life without your cowboy, and then next, he was right there, for you. You also knew he was tired, hungrily, bruised and in need of a shower and certainly a lot of Ginger’s painkillers, but you allowed yourself to be a little bit more selfish and keep him to yourself, holding your husband and taking every bit of him.
"It's okay sugar, I'm home… it was the last one, I promise you, from now on, I'm retired Agents Whiskey, no more leaving my family behind to risk my life for others” he promised you with his whole heart, not being able to take your sadness at the realization of how much you'd suffered with him gone. He couldn't do that to you nor your family, he had priorities in life, and they would always be you, Wyatt and Rosie.
The way Jack kept you in his embrace, face buried into your neck, your sweet scent reminding him of home and showing him that just like you, he wasn't dreaming, he was indeed back home from a mission he didn't die for a true miracle, his heart calmed down. You could've stayed in that embrace forever, it was all your heart begged and ached for, nothing more or nothing less, and the only thing that was able to break that hug was when Wyatt's voice shouted a happy “daddy!!!” at the top of his little lungs, followed by Rosie's cooes and loud baby noises, the cowboy's eyes filled with tears at that scene. It wasn't just his sugar, it was also his kids claiming for him, his family who waited hopefully and patiently for him to come home to. He opened his arms to them, Wyatt running as fast as his favorite horse and Rosie being brought in by Helen, but it didn't take very long until she was in her daddy's arms, cooing and gripping his cheeks like she always did while he kissed her sweet face. There was no reason to cry or be sad about stuff, the Daniels were reunited again.
                            •••
The next couple of hours went by in a blur, you felt anesthetized at everything that went on, and while Jack had to sit down with Ginger - and Champ who arrived about an hour later and got them all locked into your cowboy's office, Helen insisted you to take a bath, followed by a calming herb tea, while she kept an eye on the kids for you.
You never really knew what went on during the mission, it was top secret after all, the only thing you were informed about was that the mission was dangerous, but a success, and Jack Daniels, now retired and former Agent Whiskey had been a hero. As a thank you for all the years of service, Champ gifted your husband with a significant part of the Statesman's shares, which would assure you and your family a comfortable future to put it mildly. Not only that, but he also offered your cowboy his CEO job, not the whole chain, but from the local factory, which meant he didn't have to drive more than just a few miles until the distillery, sit down at his desk, get his demands done and come back at the end of the day to see his beautiful family. It certainly brought you a big relief, your cowboy would be safe and sound and your kids would grow up with their dad around.
Once everyone finally went home, Jack had clarified all the professional details, he was able to shower, eat and have you take care of his wounds, stitching him up and patching him up, he was finally good to go. Of course, he had a 5 o'clock growing due to the days he was unable to shave, but he would have enough time for that. The important thing was that the four of you lay on the couch of your living room, relaxing and letting the calmness sink in. Your cowboy sighed relieved as he rubbed your arm up and down, at the same time the kids yawned but fought so hard their sleep. Wyatt was rubbing his little eyes, and yet, he didn't want to go to sleep at all, his tiny little hands caressed Rosie's thin and soft hair, the one that smelled like strawberry baby shampoo and he loved it. He giggled at her, who returned her big brother's affection by giving him a sweet gummy smile.
"Mommy, daddy, can I continue telling Rosie about the wedding?” Wyatt asked between yawns as Jack chuckled and nodded, his fingers toying with his son's soft curls, the feeling of his feeling surrounding him was better than anything he'd ever experienced before.
"Go ahead little cowboy, just don't forget telling your pretty little sister how beautiful mama was”
At his daddy's incentives, Wyatt let out one last long yawn and looked at his sister.
“So, Rosie… about mommy's and daddy's wedding. Mommy was so pretty!”
                           •••
The unusual warmth for December allowed you to have the wedding of your dreams: right by the willow trees, just as you had fantasized about since you were just Whiskey's girlfriend a few years back. Time flew by just as a lot of things between the two of you, things that had finally been settled and worked on, and your happy ending was near. You stared at yourself in the mirror, in awe at the fact the wedding dress suited you way better than you thought it would. It was a relief, as your pregnancy progressed, one of your bride's fears was not fitting into your special dress on your even more special day. Luckily, that wasn't the case. Everyone who helped you get ready, had been nothing but kind and honest, when they all told you you looked beautiful, but none of these compliments were nearly as heart warming as your son's, whose little eyes got brighter the moment he spotted you. He had insisted on getting dressed along with his dad, since he was convinced cowboys should help each other, but once he was ready in his adorable cowboy attire, he insisted on helping his mama this time, after all, you two had been best friends for a long time, so it was fair he would be by your side. Not only that, since he'd been officially invited to walk you down the aisle, Wyatt had noticed how important his task was, and he didn't want to do his mommy dirty, he wanted things to be perfect, so once he rushed to you, you simply got on your knees to hug your little man. In a way, if it weren't for him, none of that would be happening.
"You're beautiful, mommy!”
There was something Wyatt wasn't tired of saying, perhaps it was all the kindness you had in your heart you used to raise him well, or maybe he was just taking after his dad in being a charming cowboy, it was still too early to figure it out, but what really mattered for you, was how proud you were of the little human being he was becoming. Those were motivational things that assured you things were on the right track, when it came to raising and loving your family. As you twirled and your son clapped in excitement, he giggled and wrapped his little arms around your legs once more, not containing his urge of hugging his mommy once more. It never crossed his witty mind that it could wrinkle your beautiful dress in any way, but if you were being honest, neither did it go through your own mind. You'd never refuse any of your beloved ones’ caresses out of fear of wrinkling a piece of clothes. Things were perfect the way they were, you couldn't want anything more for the three - well, now four, of you.
"Mommy! Daddy’s so nervous! He can't wait” Wyatt whispered between his giggles, not sure if that was gossiping or not, but he didn't see any harm in telling his mommy about important things like that, and those were important to him. You chuckled and held him again, placing a peck on top of his head and nodding.
“Well, I'm nervous too… it's a dream daddy and I have, you know? It's coming true… it's like having so many butterflies in your tummy, kinda like when it's your birthday and you can't wait, that's all you can think of and you feel as if your tummy is funny but in a good way?!” You explained to him the best way you could, a way you knew your son was going to understand and you couldn't be happier about the face Wyatt was so damn smart. Good thing both your and the Daniels genes were a good mixture, because he took you by the hand with his smaller one and nodded.
“It's time mommy!”
The walk from the house to the willow trees didn't seem to be that long before your wedding day, you could've sworn things were a lot easier than they seemed at that moment, but each time you looked at your son's pure determination in taking you to his daddy, your heart calmed down. You figured your husband was as nervous as you were, but not only that, he was probably as happy as you were too, and in addition to it, he must've been so handsome. You just didn't expect him to be that handsome. So handsome that the moment you reached the willow tree path, everything seemed blurry and not so important. The decorations you knew were beautiful, the fairy lights on the trees, the roses all scattered around, the guests, all of your friends, fellow agents and important people who took part in your lives, all of that simply came second the moment you spotted your cowboy. Jack was so handsome, the gorgeous, flawless suit he'd been gifted by Eggsy and the Kingsman simply fit him like a velvet glove, perhaps it was that, or the way he took off his cowboy hat in respect at your entrance, knowing you should be the spotlight, after all, you were the bride, just not any bride, you were his bride and that was enough to make that old mushy heart beat nearly out of his chest. It was like nothing existed at that moment except you and him, and once the song played and your son took you by the hand, accomplishing the very expected task given to him, you could barely believe that was real, but it was, and you were marrying your cowboy.
As you stood in front of your fiance, you swore you never felt such a stronger wave of love for him. You both had gone over so many things, but in the end, love overcame it all and there was no other way things would be like, you and him would finally be together, married, before the men and before God, forever and ever.
"You look gorgeous, sugar” he whispered and took your hand, kissing it gently, before he turned to the priest and you did the same. The ceremony was short and full of beautiful words, exactly like you and Jack wanted. No boring services where you both and the guests would fall asleep halfway towards it. Your cowboy always defended the idea of small ceremonies and large parties, and you couldn't agree more. When you were both pronounced husband and wife, he kissed you, and you returned the kiss, the way he held you in his arms showing you it was real and meant to be, oh that cowboy meant business. But he didn't just stop there, once he broke the kiss, he got on his knees in front of you, like the gentleman he was and pecked your stomach very gently. An obvious and yet extremely delicate way of breaking the news to the world there was a new member of the Daniels family on their way.
                             •••
As you carried an asleep Rosie into your eyes while Jack did the same with Wyatt - your husband was a gentleman, he carried the heavier one so your back wouldn't hurt - he couldn't help but chuckle.
"He fell asleep before telling her about our wedding party, that was a good one”
"And he couldn't even get to her birth either, but don't worry Jack, I'm sure we'll all be gifted with his version of the facts, all they gotta do is recharge their batteries for a little while and they'll be good to go, way better than us, by the way, because I'm exhausted”
"Me too, sugar”
Your cowboy planted a sweet peck on your lips, watching as you placed Rosie carefully in her crib and covered her up, tucking your gorgeous daughter in and allowing her to fly into her sweet dreams. Then, it was your son's turn, you followed Jack into Wyatt's little cowboy room and watched him do the same, tucking your son gently and wishing him sweet dreams with the loveliest whisper and closing the door behind him. And then it was just the two of you, finally the two of you.
As Jack took you to your shared bedroom, you could already see a hint of sadness in his eyes. He was sure you were about to enquire about what happened on that mission, but the only thing you did was approach your cowboy carefully and slowly and kiss him. Feeling his heavy hands resting on your hips as they brought you closer to him at the same time you wrapped your arms around his broad width. Things didn't have to rush, not now, not at the moment where you were so deep into his caresses. As he broke the kiss, you stroked his cheek.
"I know, Jack. I know you aren't supposed to talk about what happened on that mission, I'm aware it's top secret, but I also know you nearly died, so I just want to tell you I'm thrilled to know you aren't doing it again, I'm so happy you've finally retired, that way I don't have to worry about not having you coming back home to me, and well, us, your kids, your family. I just love you with all my heart, and I don't think I'd bear becoming a widow…”
Your lips were immediately connected with his, as he felt the urge of kissing you once more, the way your words stung - because he knew you were correct, he knew missions were getting more and more dangerous, either that or perhaps Jack was becoming too old for that. But he also knew he had no right to screw things up, not when you two had built a gorgeous family, he didn't have the right to take that away from you by letting you become a widow, and god forbid Jack die before enjoying his marriage and kids. It wouldn't be fair, not after everything you two fought so hard for - still, your words melted his heart all at once, he loved you endlessly, more than anything in the world, and he wished he knew how to word that out for you, so a gentle kiss was the best he could come up at that moment.
“You won't lose me, sugar. I promise you that much, you got all of me, I am retired and I'll be around so much you gonna get tired of my face all the time”
“I doubt that, cowboy… I love you”
"I love you too, my beautiful sugar. You're the woman of my dreams, my beautiful wife” Jack kissed your hands as he wrapped his arms around you, placing you down the bed and straddling you. He was having his way with you that night, something the two of you anticipated so much. There was nothing you wanted more than to sink into your cowboy's arms. Forever.
                            •••
What Wyatt failed to tell his little sister before the two of them fell asleep exhaustedly wasn't the biggest part of the story, but you were sure he would've told her how good the yummy food was - and that he was the one who helped you pick it all up, and in case you and their daddy decided to get married again, for the party purpose of course, and nothing remotely similar to a breakup, Wyatt was sure you'd call Rosie for her help too. He would also tell her about how pretty it was to see the two of you waltzing, exactly like a princess and a prince, and how you and his daddy danced with Wyatt on the dance floor until he was too tired to remember what happened next. For the following months, there was nothing more than just pure bright happiness in that ranch. Wyatt started school, he was still in kindergarten, and as much as you and Jack were proud of your little boy, you could've sworn you saw a single tear run down your tough cowboy's cheek. He was thinking of how many important things he'd missed from his son's life, but that wasn't going to happen again. He was a present dad, the kind of person to attend any type of teacher-parent conference and be there all the time for his kids. He loved them with all his heart, and with the months progressing along with your pregnancy, Jack had stayed by your side at any given opportunity. He loved you, and he loved his baby girl, and every single night he dreamed of her; he dreamed of her sweet face, a face that resembled yours, as well as Wyatt's, and even resembled his own. He wondered what her hair and eye color would be like, and as he saw your pregnant belly swollen with his baby, the love seed he planted there, it also made his own heart swollen with pride.
When you woke up cramping and soon enough your water broke, he felt he had won the damn Superbowl, driving you to the hospital in his Bronco at the speed of light and later on having Helen pick up Wyatt from school and take him to the hospital. By the time your lovely little cowboy was officially a big brother to your newest bundle of joy: Rose Marie Daniels.
Although Wyatt insisted on calling her Rosie because he thought it was cuter and the nickname sort of caught on. If you usually went by ‘sugar’, your husband and son went by ‘cowboy’, why couldn't your beautiful daughter go by ‘Rosie’ after all?
And so went on your life as a married woman to the man of your dreams and your two beautiful children. There was nothing you could ask for, you had it all, and you loved every single part of it.
                              •••
A whole year had passed: your cowboy had finally gotten used to his retirement, out go super secret dangerous missions, and in come mornings spent at the distillery, supervising the production of the finest Statesman's liquor, afternoons spent taking care of the ranch and carrying Rosie all over, as the two of them waited eagerly for Wyatt to come home from school. You had talked to your husband about daycare, he knew it was quite a good idea, his baby daughter was smart and fast as a thunder, but the mere idea of sending her off to spend the whole day away from him was enough to tear his heart apart: he couldn't go without watching silly little cartoons, or making  cute piggy tails on her soft hair and allow her to take a daily nap on top of his chest and belly. She was almost turning two, and as much as it mesmerized him to see her blossoming and growing up so fast, it still saddened him to see how fast time flew by. He was getting a third kid fever, but he wasn't sure if it was happening; maybe it was, he still needed to talk to you about it, but those were later plans, he still had so much to do with his life, with his family, he wanted to enjoy Wyatt, who was now nearly turning 8. His beautiful Rosie was practically a toddler now, and there was nothing more he enjoyed in the world than picking up Wyatt from school and letting the kids run loose with you in the green fields while he grilled his famous burgers. Those were special days, because they had nothing elaborated in them, just a family moment among the Daniels, something the brokenhearted cowboy thought he would never get, but turns out he did. He deserved it all. After trying so hard to convince himself he didn't, after trying to convince himself he was just a heartless man, he was shown he wasn't a horrible human being as the two of you had thought several times. You two had come along a long way, but in the end, things had worked out, because your love was big and strong, and nothing in the world could come between you.
As you watched Wyatt and Rosie playing with Silver Star, you walked to Jack, wrapping your arms around his body and kissing him deeply. His face was smooth as always and his mustache always trimmed, just as you loved kissing and riding quite often. You smirked at him and snuggled him.
“So, have you made up your mind, honey?”
"About what, sugar?”
“You know, running for mayor in this upcoming election..”
You and Jack had discussed it, more likely drunkenly discussing the possibility, you didn't know if he had actually meant that, but you knew your husband well enough to see that fire in his eyes and the genuine will to help the ones in need and give it back to the city that took him in. He returned the smile and kissed your neck, warning a groan from you.
"I still don't know, I think of it sometimes, it would be nice, I know I'd have support from you, the kids and quite a lot of people in town, but I worry it would make our lives too exposed you know, and I don't want that, I love our life the way it is, how happy and calm those kids are, I don't know about mixing up things…”
“Well, I want you to remember I love you and I'll support you no matter what. I gotta admit it makes me feel a little nervous to have this possibility of getting into politics and having our lives changing completely, although I'm sure I'd love to call you Mr.Mayor”
And at that naughty line, you earned a smack on your butt, making you squirm softly and see your cowboy really enjoyed the nickname, even if he didn't try running for mayor. Still, there was something else you knew he wanted, it could be a future plan too, but it wouldn't hurt to talk about it.
"You know, I was thinking that maybe in the near future, we could have a third baby… what about adopting this time?”
And your cowboy's heart nearly exploded with happiness and excitement. There was nothing he wanted more than seeing his family grow. No matter if it was by blood or simply by love, for a man who bought a ranch to fill it in with broken promises and lost dreams, nothing made him happier than to see his family running all over that place with so much joy and excitement. The happy giggles and squeals, and to think that could even grow, it was just an endless bliss, the kind of bliss Jack Daniels, former Agent Whiskey had to pinch himself and make sure he wasn't asleep, but instead, it was his lovely, beautiful reality.
"Daddy!!! We're hungry!”
Wyatt chimed in as he ran to him, followed by Rosie, who clung to her dad as if her little life depended on it.
"Yes, daddy, we’we hungwy!” She imitated her big brother, still not able to pronounce the R’s properly and making her daddy's heart melt into a puddle of love and affection. He got on his knees, wrapping his arms around his children. He loved them with all his heart. Just as much as he loved you, deeply, more than anything he had ever loved anyone.
Jack Daniels, former Agent Whiskey, a man whose heart was once broken, was now a man full of love. He was devoted to his wife and his beautiful kids, nothing in the world mattered more than them and for someone who had been known as a heartless man, he was nothing but love and comfort for you, Wyatt and Rosie.
The four of you were perfect for each other and maybe in the near future, there would be another addition to the Daniels, but until then, that cowboy was going to devote himself completely to you.
He wasn't ever called a heartless man again, not with that amount of love he felt overflowing through himself. He loved and he received love, just like he was supposed to, just like he deserved it.

pairing: non idol!situationship!wooyoung x afab!reader
rating: mature (18+)
trafoamp series masterlist
cw: afab reader, situationship, slight story building, smut, slight teasing, slight dirty talk, cunnilingus, oral in public/a car, kind of sad ending
you felt stupid, stooping down this low over a stupid man. your friends all say your a loser for continuing this “casual situationship” with jung wooyoung. all the times he fucked your brains out on his couch, then told you “we are not together” afterwards was impossible. the guys in his friend circle know you as the girl he bangs on his couch, and it made you bitter that you still wanted him. all the times he said “baby, no attachment” yet here you two were in the passengers seat of his beat up toyota, him on his knees about to eat you out, his knees getting rugburn from kneeling on the scratchy floor of the car, all because of those baggy, ripped up jeans with the big ass rips at the knees he always wears.
as he teased in the way he always does. “such cute little panties” he said before pulling them down and off, his strong, veiny hands held your thighs apart as he went to town on your pussy with his hot, hungry mouth. you wanted to pull his hair and ask him ‘is it casual now?’ but it just felt too good, you were done for, under his spell. he was too good with his mouth, with the way those big brown eyes looked up at you, his mouth sloppily licking and sucking at your clit and pussy, you were a fool for him. your hands ran through his messy black hair, his bruising grip on your thighs and hungry mouth relentless. you couldn’t help but moan at the intense pleasure your so called “casual situationship” was giving you.
he knew how to hit every right spot, sucking and licking just the right ways to get you moaning obscenities as well as his name. “fucking hell, wooyoung, baby, you’re so good at this, oh my god”. your hands now gripped at his hair, your head thrown back against the headrest. the last thing on your mind was about if someone caught you two, it wasn’t too late at night, and you guys had drove into an almost empty parking garage. you were too busy getting the head of your life from the man who repeatedly said you two “weren’t together” to give a fuck if you were seen.
the pleasure he was giving you was bringing you close to orgasm, as your legs began to shake in his grasp and your moans became more frequent and breathing was labored. “fuck, baby, i’m cumming” you said to him, he smirked against your pussy and went faster with his mouth, getting you closer and closer. when you finally came, he ate it all up.
you felt yourself getting mad at yourself again for letting it end up like this again. you hated yourself for letting this drag on, but when it got down to it, you’d miss the fact that your favorite bra was in his dresser, you’d miss him telling his friends he hit it raw and made you cum multiple times when he didn’t. you’d miss fucking him in the bathroom of the restaurant when we go to dinner. you wanted to tell him to go to hell, but you didn’t have it in you. so you just let him drag you along.

prev chap | YOU ARE A FEVER | gojo x f!reader | series masterlist | next chap
cw: reader has defined characteristics (complexion that visibly reddens), two sisters, mentions of farming and livestock. word count 3k.
Tumblr media
SIX YEARS AGO IN THE VILLAGE OF UCRA
Your days begin before the sun begins her own.
Distant roosters crow letting you know that morning has arrived and you shift in your bed uncomfortably, linen sheets scratching against your bare legs. Reasoning with yourself for five more minutes would be useless knowing it would throw your entire day off schedule. For a fleeting selfish moment, you contemplate the harm in allowing those measly minutes to clear your own head. The more reasonable part of you wins out this time, five minutes here and there add up quickly if you tally them at the end of the day, and your feet dangle over the edge of the bed. Your grandmother’s voice is audible through the door separating your bedroom from the kitchen, the soft clatter of dishes accompanying the sound of her singing quietly to an audience of no one.
Padding softly across the floor, you swing the door open and greet her with a sleepy half-smile. Your sisters are still asleep and your grandfather is out of the village to trade leaving you responsible for the animals until he returns. The chickens will be fed twice today and their eggs will be collected and delivered to your neighbors. The goats will be pet gently while they’re milked, something you hope you can convince one of the girls to help with. The cows will be allowed to mosey in the pasture all day, chomping on grass while clouds roll by over their heads.
You, on the other hand, will be handling a transaction between your grandfather and someone from the bustling city of Amavel. Sheer mention of the city makes your stomach flutter excitedly, imagining what it must be like to be in a place so large you can remain anonymous. In Ucra, everyone knows you and has since the day you were born. The community is small and deeply protective of itself, something you have always found difficult to understand given how big this world is.
“Good morning, sweetheart.”
Your grandmother greets you as she does every morning, a soft smile on her face that shows the ever deepening lines around her mouth. Age leaves no one untouched, a thought you often refuse to indulge in because it makes you sad to think about ever losing her. You grab her hand gently and she perks up when you squeeze it.
“Take a rest today.” Your word isn’t absolute given you are not the woman of the house but she is fair enough to consider your opinion when you give it. “Have one of the girls tend to stuff around the house.”
She sighs and squeezes your hand back, dropping it to reach around your back and grab a few eggs out of the bowl on the counter.
“I’ll see what I can do.”
It’s the best answer she can give. The responsibilities double when it’s just you girls left at home. She cracks eggs into a skillet and the soft sizzle fills the kitchen while you take a seat at the table your family has been sharing for three generations. This house, this table, this life - it has all belonged to people who existed long before you did. You’ve never felt like you fit into it quite well enough, something beneath your skin itching to break free from the fate of the women before you.
This line of thinking always draws you back to imagining Amavel. A place where you can truly be anyone or no one or even someone if that’s what you desire. It’s hard to imagine a single cow or a milking bucket in a place like that, paved and illuminated streets leading its citizens from place to place if the stories you have heard are true. Bustling libraries and places to get food and drink you have never even dreamed of having in your life.
You sigh as your grandmother did moments ago, settling back into the chair you sit on for a moment. It does no good to dream, being labeled as a dreamer is being seen as trouble and you have worked your whole life to be seen as anything but. You are reliable, where you’re supposed to be when you say you’ll be there.
With any luck, your good reputation will help you today.
“Do you know what time I should be meeting our visitor? Papa didn’t say anything before he left.”
Grandma smiles and flips your egg by lifting the pan and tossing it gently in the air. When you were a child you swore this was a magic trick and told her so, eyes sparkling with joy. You were quickly and sternly told to never mention something like that again after you said it. The request has been honored but you still think the same thing every time you watch it.
There have always been rumors that magic exists in all of Ormur’s countrymen although in Ucra, this is strongly frowned upon. The people of this village lean on the primitive side compared to the rest of the increasingly modern country and superstition runs rampant in every home. Doorways and windows are blessed to keep evil out, black cats are shooed away with brooms and terrified glances.
“I believe he said this evening although I think you should stick as close to home as you can today in case he arrives sooner.” She advises and you nod. “People from the city tend to run on a different schedule than the rest of us.”
From the few past experiences you’ve had handling transactions with people from the city, you know she’s right. Time moves differently when you have endless amounts of it. “I better get started then.” You move to stand up but she stops you with a gentle hand on your shoulder, sliding your breakfast in front of you. The same breakfast you’ve enjoyed since you were a child, two eggs with their yellow eyes staring up at you. “Eat first. I’ll see if I can get your sisters up to milk today.” A gentle reassurance that she’s trying to lessen your load, just as you do hers. You smile up at her and she leans down to kiss your forehead while you split the two eggs into separate pieces and silently give thanks for the meal. The sun has risen, her light filling the kitchen, and you’ve well and truly managed to mess up your schedule for the day by taking those few minutes to enjoy your breakfast.
-:¦:- -:¦:--:¦:- -:¦:-
As expected, nothing has gone according to plan today and it feels as though there is some force out of your control causing all of the chaos around you.
The chickens got out of their coop overnight, giving you no choice but to walk into the forests that surround the village to gather them all. You gently reprimanded each of them and placed them back in their homes with a disappointed sigh, plucking eggs from the nests to put in the pockets of your apron. Counting over each of the rows, you notice one is missing and shut the coop tightly, latching it closed before leaving.
How could you forget one? You could’ve sworn they’d all made their way back when you clucked at them and scattered feed on the ground at your feet to beckon them to you and you stomp back into the woods, frustration evident in the way you mutter to yourself quietly.
“Of course this has to happen today of all days,” you spit through gritted teeth, the blooming hydrangeas of the forest brushing your arms as you walk through the thick bushes to a clearing where you stand and take a deep breath.
“FLORENCE!”
You scream the name one of your sisters gave the chicken so loudly it practically rips itself out of your throat, your body bending with the force of it. Fists balled at your sides, you stomp in place and furious tears roll down your cheeks.
Your mind races with anxious, spiraling questions. Why is this happening? Is it because you wasted too much time with grandma this morning? Is it because your mind dwelled a little too long on this concept of magic that seems so foreign but so pervasive everywhere you look?
Bottom lip quivering, you unball one of your fists to wipe your fingers down your face. A few angry tears drip down your chin before you can catch them and you blow out a defeated puff of air. Going any deeper into the woods could spell disaster if you can’t find your way back home by the time you need to be there so you contemplate what to do next.
Then you hear them - footsteps. The crunch of fallen leaves and dirt causes you to spin around and you come face to face with a man you’ve never seen before. A whole lot of man at that.
He’s taller than any man you’ve ever seen, broad shouldered and easy smile wearing. Blue eyes lock their gaze on you and you note that if they’re the sky, the floppy white strands atop his head are the clouds and they’re both unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. Your breath catches in your throat and he smiles, raising his arms that are wrapped around your lost chicken.
“I’m guessing this,” he nods downward at the surprisingly calm bundle in his arms, “is Florence?”
Wordlessly, you nod and reach out for your lost chicken. He holds her a moment longer, thumb stroking the fingers around her neck, and you wonder if this isn’t an ambush given you are in the forest on your own. Long before your adulthood, there were a few packs of bandits that attacked villagers and forced the entire group to be assigned escorts.
Your posture stiffens and he notices, handing her over with an affable smile and a laugh.
“Believe it or not, she found me.”
You attempt to discreetly assess your chicken for any harm that may have come to her on her adventure but find yourself thwarted by how interested this man is in speaking to you, his glance still fixed on your face. Florence clucks and shifts in your arms but your touch immediately soothes her as you pet the feathers on the top of her head and her beak.
Deciding to play it cool, you clear your throat and raise your eyebrows, finally meeting his gaze fully. Your stomach flutters as it did this morning, the excitement of something you’ve never seen before nearly overcoming any farm girl stoicism you may have perfected in your life.
“Where at?” You ask coolly, or at least you believe you do until he cracks a smile. He can tell you’re trying to appear tough and aloof to protect yourself from any potential threat so he slackens his posture to make himself at least a little smaller.
“In the bushes not far from here.” He points in the opposite direction of where you stand and you nod, still clutching the chicken. “I was on my way to the village to pick up an order and honestly assumed that’s probably where she came from.”
This is the man coming to pick up a freshly processed cow, sold to him by your Papa? Your eyes widen and you smile, tension melting from your body.
“You’re supposed to be meeting me, actually.” You laugh. The coincidence is funnier than you expected and you tilt your head to the side curiously. “Are you the cafe owner? Nanami, I believe?”
“No, no. I’m the cafe owner’s friend,” he raises his eyebrows and waggles them in a way that makes you giggle. “I don’t know if he’d call me his friend, maybe just his brave and extraordinarily handsome delivery man, but he’s my friend.”
The chicken meltdown seems like a distant memory as a giggle bubbles out of you, amazed by this man’s easy going nature. The people in your village are so serious it’s hard to believe a person like this actually exists. Every bit of him seems different, thrumming with a bright white light of joy and vitality. His steps are as light as air, his grin shines in the dappled afternoon light.
“What’s your name?”
The man smiles down at you and opens his arms.
“Satoru Gojo, the one and only. And you?”
Quickly you introduce yourself though your confusion about his introduction is apparent. You tilt your head to the side curiously. Florence once again rustles in your arms and you touch her, gently assuring her everything is fine despite whatever she is worked up about. The chaotic energy that has blanketed your day clearly hasn’t disappeared fully but you are best suited to keep her calm.
“You’ll have to forgive me for asking but are you famous or something?”
Now it’s his Satoru’s to laugh. It sounds like the music that is played during the seasonal festivals in the village to you; you hear the songs so rarely that they have become something you cherish.
This laugh could become the same if you think too long about it.
“I mean if you mention my name at any bar in Amavel you’ll probably get a collective sigh from the patrons,” he jokes. “I’m pretty talkative and drunk people hate that.”
You wouldn’t know. You’ve never stepped foot in a bar despite being old enough to drink, the village tends to steer clear of alcohol unless it’s festival season so even wine is hard to come by. Excitement rises in you again, warmth lightening your limbs.
“Can I ask you a few questions about the city while we walk back to the village?”
Gojo grins, a bit taken aback by your friendliness though he plays it off well. He has only traveled to Ucra a few times in his life, most of them recent, and he has never met someone quite as excited to see a stranger. Your eyes gleam and he wonders for a moment how anyone in your life has denied you a thing.
“Of course but you have to answer my questions too, okay?”
Nodding excitedly, you giggle.
“You can go first if you’d like.”
He pretends to ponder for a moment, stroking his chin thoughtfully while you begin walking back toward your home, where the large wheelbarrow of meat purchased waits for him to take back to the city. You don’t want to take up too much of his time knowing that what he purchased is time sensitive but the day is already so off track - what does it matter if you take a few minutes to do this? You took a few minutes to nourish yourself with breakfast, this is simply a different kind of sustenance and one you get to enjoy so rarely.
“Why is your chicken named Florence?”
You squeeze her gently in your arms.
“My sister named her. I have two of them and they named all of the chickens. This is Florence, we have Mary, Hattie, and Lucy and a bunch more at home. I could introduce you if you want?”
Even your frustration about having to wrangle and return each of these chickens has long evaporated and Satoru nods at you, holding his hand out in the direction of your village.
“After you.”
-:¦:- -:¦:--:¦:- -:¦:-
Once he’s certain that he is far enough out of the village that his magic will not be detected, Satoru mumbles a spell that encapsulates the bundle of packages in the wagon in golden light and they whoosh away in an instant, magicked off to their rightful owner Kento Nanami hours away from the secluded village he remains outside of. There’s a basket of preserved fruit and eggs dangling from one of his arms, courtesy of you, and he decides to keep them with him instead of sending them back. He doesn’t have to share a gift, after all.
Taking his time getting home, he walks in the opposite direction of the dirt path you walked him down just hours ago. There is so much to contemplate from this one little trip but there are two things he knows for certain.
One, you have magical ability. Your touch alone was enough to calm animal and human alike, the slight golden aura shimmering off of your hands alerting him that it is not simply your good personality providing comfort although he did believe it to be nothing but at first. He won’t deny your good nature or your kind heart but there is more, something you clearly are interested in judging by how many questions you asked him about Amavel.
Two, he likes you. Not in the way he sort of likes everyone, it’s in his nature to be personable, but in the “why is my heart beating a little too fast right now” way. The “why do I have to leave you when I want to stay here and listen to you talk about how you named your chickens all night” way. The way that will make him certain he has to come back no matter what. Clever man that he is, it doesn’t take long to concoct a plan to figure out how to do just that.
Gojo mutters an incantation and with a wave of his free hand a book materializes out of thin air. It’s heavy and leather bound with gold raised lettering on the cover. It plops onto the ground with a thud when he releases his magic and he bends down to situate it between the hydrangea bushes far enough away from the village that he knows only you will venture out here.
There’s a binding spell on the book, something to always tether him to you while he is back in the city. The book won’t spy on you per se but he will know every time you pick it up to read it, a gentle tug on his magic telling him that the sweet village girl is interested in more.
If you wanted it, he’d give you everything including the world but he must take it a step at a time. This is simply step one - a magical interest check if you will.
Satisfied with his plan, Satoru rises to standing and plucks a satchel of dried peaches from the basket you sent him home with. Popping one into his mouth with a pleased hum, he grins as he chews and continues walking away from the place he hopes to return to very soon.

It’s always very odd to me when I read criticism of A Song Of Ice And Fire online (by which I mainly mean: on Tumblr) which takes for granted that this is some sort of obsessively dark and edgy and mean-spirited fantasy, because ... that's not what the series is actually like at all?
I mean, yes, some awful (and graphically described) stuff happens in these books, but this is at heart a deeply optimistic and almost embarrassingly romantic story, full of a very obvious sympathy and tenderness for the unhappy and the hurt and the powerless.  The weird gritty-for-the-sake-of-it books that the series's detractors describe wouldn't have recurring POV characters like Sansa Stark or Tyrion Lannister or Davos Seaworth or Samwell Tarly or Brienne of Tarth.  They certainly wouldn't obviously empathize with and respect these characters to the extent the actual books do.  They wouldn't be so obsessive about the importance of hope and kindness and understanding in an otherwise uncaring world.  Whenever the text suggests the world isn't fair or kind there's always an unspoken "but it should be,and I wish it was". You are clearly not meant to think that characters like Roose Bolton or Twyin Lannister are being held up as role models to emulate!
I mean, maybe the TV show is more like that -- I gave up on the show after only a couple of seasons, it was a terrible adaptation of the source material, even before the final season that everyone apparently hated -- but so much of the open disdain for ASOIAF I come across on here reads like the people writing the posts haven't even read a single one of the books. Yes, the popularity of ASOIAF inspired a lot of "dark" fantasy novels that actually are bleakly nihilistic and seem to revel in their characters meeting pointlessly sad and violent ends, but Martin's books are just not like that.
Yes, lots of the world-building for ASOIAF is patently ridiculous, and yes, key parts of the plot are just cribbed from the War of the Roses (or, rather, from historical novels like Sharon Penman's The Sunne in Splendour)  and yes, Martin has said some very stupid things in interviews while busy not writing the series.  And no, I'm not sure I could actually bring myself to recommend the books to anyone who's not read them before (especially when it's so unlikely that the series will ever be finished, let alone in a satisfying way).  I haven’t reread them myself in years.
But honestly, back when I was a quietly miserable teenager these books really meant a lot to me, in part because they are the opposite of the caricature often discussed online.  Yes, they acknowledged that sometimes the world was awful and unbearable.  It is!  But they also suggested that it was still important to try to be fair and kind and to appreciate the moments when things were better.  They are books about trying to do the right thing even when it’s so hard as to seem impossible and nobody else will even know that you tried, written in a way that takes for granted that “the right thing” is also the just and the optimistic and the quietly heroic thing; that doing the right thing when you afraid is more praiseworthy than never being afraid at all. And it is baffling to me how often I see people talking about them now who don't actually seem to have ever even skimmed them but are still vocally passionate in their hatred of something that, as they describe it, simply doesn't exist.

You said you had a rant about Kairi?
Okay okay okay this will be all over the place.
Kairi is my girl and I’m obsessed with her. But she is done so dirty by the series. There’s a lot of factors that go into this, but Kairi is a character that at the end of the day is always getting the short of the stick. She is the damsel, or off on the sidelines, or not even the main character in a game that is ostensibly about her. When she DOES try to take a stand the game punishes her by killing her or getting Sora killed. She had powers and abilities and a personality but they all bend to make her helpless when the story needs her to be helpless.
From a meta standpoint part of my frustration with this is in the fandom. I’m ace and I think on the aro spectrum so shipping isn’t really my thing but it is BIG in the fandom, and frequently I see Kairi brushed aside in favor of other ships. Which I mean the guys get more lines and dialogue and Things To Do so it makes sense but it’s sad that she sometimes doesn’t even have a presence in the fandom.
I feel like Kairi herself if Nomura ever wanted to use her or dove into her would have such an interesting story. She starts out the series as a kind more bull headed Tom boy girl, and then seems to fall into the waiting damsel role. She is constantly shunted off while the boys do things that I feel like she would have this disconnect from them. A guilt at getting them involved in this stuff in the first place and then not even able to help them deal with it. All she seems to be able to do is make things worse.
I think Kairi is honestly a very lonely character, lonelier than even Riku at times.
I think it would be great to explore her guilt, her sorrow, her loneliness, and the work that needs to be done for her friendship with the boys to be healthy again. I think it has fallen weak due to all three of them.
I hate that ‘training’ has become an excuse. They’re like ‘she’s not just the girl, she’s the fighter! She just needs training!’ But how many games can you give her a training montage in before you admit you’re just sidelining her. She should have gone after sora with or without Riku at the end of melody and we all know it.
Idk ramble ramble rant. I love Kairi and she’s so underutilized that thinking about her drives me insane.

(sends self ask to write alternate ending blurb for watch and learn where reader ends up with blake) (lots of hurt!) (no comfort!)
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷
alternate sad ending to watch and learn series. based on this ask! takes place the day they’re at the beach in part eight
When Blake kisses you, everything you’ve been waiting and hoping for falls into place. His lips fit against yours perfectly, his hands hold your hips under the water so sweetly, and when you pull back, his smile melts your heart.
He’s slow and gentle with every move, making time stop.
When you’re back on the shore, he puts a warm, heavy arm around you, unafraid of showing you affection and claiming you in public. Unafraid of everything Rafe refuses to give you.
Conversation flows easy now, surely because he’s not shy about if you like him anymore. Now that he’s out of his shell, he’s even sweeter and funnier than you realized.
When Blake drops you off at your dorm, he turns off his car and takes a deep, shaky breath. You can tell he’s nervous by the way he smooths his hands over his legs.
“I wanted to tell you that I really like you,” he says. “And I’m sorry if I’m coming out of left-field here, but would you… do you want to be my girlfriend maybe?”
His nervousness is so damn endearing. This is what you’ve been missing with Rafe. Unashamed affection and a desire to commit. You breathe a happy yes and kiss him.
You’re in the shower when Rafe calls your name. You open the stall door with a confused expression, noticing how sad he looks, asking him what’s wrong.
He has already seen you naked so many times, but you hide behind the door. He can’t have this access to you anymore.
Rafe tries to push into the shower, desperate for one last time with you, but when your wet hand pushes against his chest, he swears he hears his heart break.
“We can’t do this anymore,” you tell him. “I’m with Blake.”
You think that if Rafe has any opportunity to tell you that he feels something deeper for you, now’s the time. But he just scoffs angrily, brows furrowing, shaking his head in disbelief.
By his reaction, you’re sure he’s just annoyed he can’t have great, easy sex with his neighbor anymore.
Rafe goes to the frat party that night, disgusted by the sight of you at Blake’s side. He’s grateful that a girl strikes up a conversation with him and he takes her home, fucking her the way you taught him to.
Eventually, though, he grows selfish and hasty in bed again once he realizes sex with someone he doesn’t feel connected to is empty.
Blake is overjoyed when you ask him to the Sadie Hawkins formal. Rafe doesn’t attend. But he sees the photo of you two together on Instagram and he wants to punch a wall.
You should have expected Rafe to be an asshole again after you stopped fucking around with him. You try to joke around with him every so often, but he always meets you with aloofness. You eventually give up.
You don’t know he’s so frigid because he’s dying inside watching you be happy with someone else.
He’s back to being loud in his dorm again, no matter how many times you text him to stop. You eventually tell the resident advisor who has to give him a warning.
Although he’s typically the loud one, Rafe hears you through your wall sometimes. He’s in agony when he hears the pretty laugh and sexy moans he used to earn. Someone else is making you do that now.
In a twisted way, he hopes you’re trying to make him jealous when you’re groaning in pleasure while you fuck Blake.
But it’s wishful thinking. Because you’ve genuinely written Rafe off and are falling for Blake, who’s sweet and sincere and kind to you.
Rafe moves into the frat house the next semester. He can’t even be happy that you don’t share a wall with him anymore because you’re always around.
Blake constantly has his arm draped around you. Rafe must hate himself, because he sometimes imagines you being like that with him. Being his girlfriend. He’d try the relationship thing with you if you wanted him.
But you don’t.
The spring camping trip is supposed to be frat brothers only. Of course you’re there, though. Blake wants you around all the time and he encourages the guys to bring their girls, too.
Everyone’s seated surrounding the bonfire the last evening of the trip and Rafe watches you on Blake’s lap, the flames shadowing and highlighting your beautiful features. What he’d give to kiss you one more time.
“You warm enough, baby?” Blake asks you. Rafe is seething. He used to call you baby. You don’t even seem to notice or give a fuck.
“Freezing. Hug me better,” you tease, smiling as he wraps his arms around you tighter.
Rafe has had too much to drink by the time the fire dies down. Everyone starts to retire to their cabins, but he catches you alone under the moonlight.
The feeling of his hand around your wrist makes the memories of your tryst come rushing back. He was such a good lover.
But you got what you wanted from each other. You have amazing sex with Blake because you learned how to be direct and confident in bed with Rafe.
“Hey,” he mutters lowly.
“What?” you ask, expecting his usual frigidity.
“Why’d you pick him?” He’s slurring.
“What?”
“It’s a simple question,” he replies.
“I don’t know what the hell you’re talking about,” you tell him.
“Blake. Why’d you pick him? Why not…” He screws his lips together. “Me?”
“You?” you say, in disbelief. “For what? A relationship?”
Your tone cuts through him. Like the thought of loving him is so fucking crazy.
“You’re drunk,” you say with a laugh, twisting out of his grip.
“Tell me,” Rafe says.
“Rafe,” you mutter. He misses your voice saying his name. “Is this a sick joke? You told me at least a million times you don’t want a girlfriend. You’re losing it, buddy.”
“Don’t call me that,” he says through gritted teeth. Buddy. It’s so damn condescending. So far from what you once shared.
“What do I call you?” you reply. “A friend? You went back to treating me like shit once we stopped fucking, remember?”
“Because I was…” He steps back. Hot tears sprout out of his eyes without warning and he angrily wipes them away with the heels of his hands.
You’re taken aback to see him like this. To know you have this effect on him.
“I can treat you better,” Rafe says. “I can make you happier than he does.” In reality, he’s not sure at all if he can compete with Blake.
But he’d kill himself trying if you’d let him. He can see it in your eyes that you won’t.
The fact that he’s crying weakens the animosity you have for him a little bit. You decide to be totally honest.
“You had a chance,” you tell him. Rafe meets your eyes, his gaze hollow.
“You would’ve picked me?” he asks. Answering that feels almost like some form of cheating. So, you don’t.
“Listen, I love Blake,” you say. “And a relationship is a great thing if you open yourself up to it. You can find someone who can make you happy. I genuinely hope you do.”
Rafe huffs and brushes past you. You could make him happy. But he’ll never know that happiness.
He wishes he was drunk enough to forget this tomorrow. He’s not. He’s doomed to keep watching you walk around with his heart, breaking it every time he sees you and thinks about what could have been.

Hey everyone, it’s been far too long! (I’m truly sorry, life has not been fun lately 😅) But I’m back to rant about something!
Why… just why did someone try to tell me that "just because Luke felt bad about what he did, and died in the end, doesn’t make him a hero"??
Like, I beg your finest, top-shelf, pardon???
Number 1, please for the love of any deity listening, gain some media literacy and use it! Number 2, what do you mean he wasn’t a hero??? That’s literally the whole point of the end of The Last Olympian! He’s literally named a hero! Percy Jackson, the main character, says point blank that Luke was the actual hero in the end!
"But he did so many bad things and killed people!" Yeah, his body did, ya know when it was being controlled by Kronos! But who did Luke, fully in control and totally unaffected by Kronos, kill? Oh, that’s right, NO ONE!
He did ATTEMPT to kill Percy (even though he actually didn’t want to) but he didn’t succeed. Am I saying that it wasn’t bad that he hurt Percy? No, I’m not. But I’m also saying that if Kronos weren’t manipulating and forcing Luke to do his bidding, then Luke would have never hurt Percy or other demigods unless absolutely necessary.
And if the god’s would’ve just treated their demigod children and the other minor gods better, then Luke wouldn’t have even had to consider siding with Kronos as a legitimate reason.
And speaking of that, the reason that Luke is considered a hero is because he was the one who defeated Kronos. Without him, they wouldn’t have been able to destroy Kronos. Luke was never really the true threat that had everyone worried. Luke was never the true villain, it was Kronos (and the gods). Kronos was going to rise again even if he wasn’t successful in manipulating Luke to fight on his side. Kronos would’ve just found another demigod to manipulate, and it would’ve more than likely been Percy if Gabe’s stench wouldn’t have hidden Percy so well.
But really, to say that Luke wasn’t a hero in the end is just telling me that you read the books with your eyes closed. I just really think that it’s sad that the complete first series of books have been out for almost 15 years now and most people still can’t comprehend Luke’s character.

Series: Pokemon Horizons
Characters: Main plot: Murdock, Friede Minor part: Rockruff, Mollie, Orla, Ludlow Mentioned: Katy, Liko, Dot, Roy, Blanca
Ships: FriedexMurdock also called Capncrunchshipping or Airfryshipping
Summary:
The story plays right after the fight against BlackRayquaza and before the Trio offically start their training at the Orange academy.
Murdock seems to work in Katys bakery and logically should stay in this town during that time. So I wanted to explore his feelings about being away from everyone, especially Friede and how they spend their last night together before being apart for a while. Lots of emotions, kisses and a little suggestive part at the end <3
Three days have passed since the big fight against BlackRayquaza, were the Brave Asagi got heavely damaged. It is heartbreaking to see their home being in this terrible state, but luckily nobody was injured during this incident and that's the most important thing. The ship can be fixed after all...even if it might take a while until they can go back to what they are used to...until the ship is filled with chaos and laughter again instead of silence and working noises. For the time being Liko went back to her parents house and Dot and Roy were able to stay at Blancas place until they can officially start with their Terastal training at the Orange academy. Only the adults stayed at the ship for now, but as soon as Orla officially begins with the repair they gonna have to stay at a hotel to not be in her way.
Murdock was sitting in his room heaving out a big sigh. He was glad that at least the kids could stay at a more positive environment right now. Seeing the damaged ship everyday just would make them relive this scary experience over and over again. Or that what he is believing anyways, knowing that he himslef is still struggeling with getting that disaster out of his head. He kept a brave face in front of the children, but in reality the cook was as scared as them, not knowing what happens next. Can the ship really be fixed completely? What are they gonna do if it's not possible? Will this the be end end of the RVTs? The cook couldn't help himself but worrying about these questions. Friede seems more faithful then him or at least knows how to overplay such thoughts. "PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER!" Murdock scolded himself while he slapped his own hands against his cheeks, squeezing them with a slight agression. "You are not a child anymore, so don't act like one!" Murdock remaind in this position for a while before he loosened his grip, letting out another deep sigh.
The chef inhaled and exhaled sharly several times to calm his nerves. There is no time to feel scared. He knows exactly what he has to do. In fact everyone knew repairing the ship wont be an easy task and will keep Orla busy. But for the mechanic to even being able to start with this endeavor, she needs materials and that in turn means they need money. Lots of money. So Murdock already decided what he personally can do to help. After all working hard is something he can do best.
A small smile formed on his lips while he looked at his phone. Only yesterday he mailed an application adressed to Katy's bakery in Cortondo, hopeing she gonna accept him and allow the pastry chef to work there until the ship is as good as new. To Murdocks surprise she personally called him back this moring to tell him he's hired. Needless to say that the chef almost dropped his phone, because he was so nervouse and honestly didn't expect such a fast answer, let alone a positive one. And on top of that he was told he can already start working in five days. Though the cook needs to leave a day earlier to get the keys for the small room he rented near the bakery, right after this hopeful phonecall earlier.
His smile fastly shifted to a more sad one. Working there means he need to leave for a while and live in that town...thinking about that fact alone made him feel wistful. Murdock don't even wanna think about getting seperated from everyone for an extended period of time that he cannot yet grasp. Especially being apart from Friede fills his thoughts with horror. Having him around all the time feels so natural and became part of his daily life. Being able to go to the other man whenever he wants, just to hang out or when he feels overwhelmed or just needs a safe place. Simply just having him by his side, to feel his touch, his warmth. Before Murdock completly got comsumed by his fear he felt something cautiously licking his hand. The cook was so lost in his thoughts that he didn't noticed his puppy climbed on his lap. Rockruff knew somethings was wrong and visible was worried about it's dad. "Sorry I didn't wanted to worry you." Murdock automatically wore a soft smile and gently patted his puppies head before he lifted it up to pepper it with kisses. Cuddeling with his little angel certainly helped to ground him and let him tackle this decision rationally. The chef knew that he had to tell Friede at some point, but he also didn't want his boyfriend to start brooding about this and having to go through all those feelings for days now as a result just like him...one suffering is enough. Murdock settled to only tell Mollie, Orla and Ludlow about his plans for now.
As expected the two woman appreciated his plans but side-eyed him when he pleaded them to not say a word to Friede about that. Nointhenless they gladly did respect his wish who he was very thankfull for. From this point on Murdock tried to tell Friede as well several times. When they were shopping together, when Friede was keeping him company while cooking, when they went for a walk...he tried to tell him...he really tried but everytime he chickened out the last second and brushed it off, finding a silly excuse for his strange behaviour. There was no way that the professor didn't started to get sceptical.
And before Murdock knew it the day before his departure had arrived. It already was dinner time to be exact. The chef was spending most of the day in the kitchen to make everyones fave meals. He just had too, because he doesn't know when he will be able to cook for them again. Murdock could feel tears filling up his eyes, but hastely blinked them away, before he served it all up. "Hope you all are hungry, because I made plenty!" the chef voiced with a bright smile while watching everyone slowly gathering around the table.
"That smells great!" Friede took in the scent a bit more before sitting down and filling up his plate. Orla and Mollie digged into the food as well. Ludlow on the other hand just silently watched the scene for now, sipping his tea, observing, already knowing something gonna happen. And he didn't have to wait long. "So delicious! I gonna miss Murdocks food!" Orla spouted out, mouth full. "ORLA!" Mollie promptly scolded her, but the brown-haired woman didn't realized what she just said. Murdock on the other hand froze in place, wanting to run away. "Please don't let Friede have heard that!" the cook was pleading in his mind. But the white-haired man DID hear and now looked at Orla with a very confused look on his face, swallowing down his food before asking "Hmm? What do you mean you gonna miss his food?" Realisation hit Orlas brain like a thunder bolt. She didn't meant to say that and tried to hastly come up with an excuse. "Ah that...well I mean when we start staying at the hotel he won't be able to cook there right?" Orla cleared up while slightly laughing awkwardly. "Right Murdock?" she then added hoping he gonna help covering her white lie but to everyones surprise his seat was empty. The tall man must have taken the oppertunity to leave while all eyes were on the mechanic. Friede felt like a fool and was visably confused. The professor hated when he didn't know what was happening and didn't realized how his face got very serious. "What is this all about?" he now asked with a slighty annoyed sound in his voice. The damage was already done so there was no reason to keep up this farce. "We promised Murdock to not tell you, I don't know why he asked for that though, so it might be better to ask him yourself." Mollie finally explained. The conference room was now overshadowed by a negative vibe.
"Listen to the wind, it talks. Listen to the silence, it speaks. Listen to your heart, it knows." Ludlow spoke with a calm and encouraging voice, breaking the uncomforteable silence that had settle over the group. Friede stared at his gramps for a moment before his eyes wandered back to his plate of food. His face slowly shifted into a sad but also concerened and betrayed expression. What did Murdock felt comforteable enough to tell literally everyone but him? He needed to know but...if he haven't told him yet why should he tell him now? Friede suddenly started to heavily shake his head, trying to get rid of those unwanted thoughts. With his eyes now filled with determination, the professor promptly finished his fill and then headed to the kitchen, were he was sure to find his 'target'. Ludlow was smiling as he saw the young man leaving the room ready to clear things up. When Friede entered the kitchen Murdock was busy washing the dishes not daring to look at the smaller man. The professor didn't knew how to start the conversation, he wants to know what the chef is hiding from him, but he also doesn't want to pressure him either. The white-haired man is certain that the cook must have a reason why he haven't told him yet, so he tries to approach the subject slowly. "That was delicious as always. I'm full!" Friede praised, putting on a smile. It wasn't a fake smile though, he meant what he said. Murdocks food is always the tastiest, still he felt more like crying right now. The taller man was taken abakt by that, because he was sure Friede straight up gonna confront him and ask him questions. "I'm glad to hear that. It means a lot to me. Thank you." the cook looked at Friede for a short moment to return the smile, before focusing at the dishes again. An awkward silence filled the whole kitchen. The only sound left was the suttle cliring of the table ware Murdock kept cleaning.
With every minute passing the chef started to get more nervouse. "That's your last proper chance to tell him you idiot!" Murdock started to scold himself in his thoughts. "COME ONE JUST TELL HIM YOU COWARD!" his thoughts went further and the cook got so angry at himself, that he abruptly stopped in his tracks, starteling Friede a little. Murdock was snapped back to reality by a gently touch on his shoulder. It was Friede who now was giving him a worried but warm glance. The cook took a deep breath and slowly let out the air again.
"I'm gonna leave tomorrow to work at Katy's bakery in Cortondo and wont be back for a while. We need that money or Orla can't fix the ship so it's unavoideable." Murdock started to explain, pausing for a moment to inhale deeply before continuing. "I wanted to tell you earlier, but the more I tried the more I couldn't bring myself too..." his voice now started to tremble "If..." he had to clear his throat before being able to continue. "If I had told you four days ago, you surley couldn't have helped but brood about me leaving all these days...and I didn't want you to go through the same thoughts that kept haunting me over and over again...I gonna miss you ya know?" the cook couldn't hold his tears back anymore and started to sob bitterly. "I'm so sorry I couldn't tell you until now I'm..." before he could speak any further he was pulled into a tight hug, while a hand gently caressed his back. "You idiot..." the small man said with a shaky voice himself. "You choose to keep all this feelings to yourself because you didn't wanted to make me suffer but..." Friede now had teary eyes as well "But imagine how you must have felt all those days, being all alone with those thoughts...that's what breaks my heart!"
"I'm so sorry...i didn't mean to hurt your feelings...I'm sorry...I'm sorry..." Murdock's voice softened as he continued to apologize, hugging Friede even tighter, but gentle enough so the smaller man could still breath properly. "Shhh it's okay I'm not mad at you." The smaller man kept stroking Murdocks back in gentle and firm circles to calm him down. This went on for quite a while until Friede felt that the other mans sobbing eased. He then proceed to sat down Murdock on the small wooden stool, who was busy wiping away his tears and was still softly sobbing.
"I want to apologize myself...No I need to apologize to you!" the white-haird man stated while he rubbed the back of his head. Murdock just looked at him with wide eyes, waiting for Friede to continue. "The words gramps said to me before had me thinking. I mean you did act a bit strange all of a sudden, but I refused to question it any further believing you surley gonna tell me if somethings the matter and..." "So you did notice..." Murdocks eyes wandered to the side in embarressment. Friede had to giggle at that sight. "Are you kidding me? When we went for a walk yesterday you literally kept staring at me with such an intense look , that you ended up running into a street lamp!" Friede now started to chuckle. "You should have seen your face!" and with that he bursted out into laughter. "STOP LAUGHING THAT'S NOT FUNNY!" Murdock tried to complain, but the moment he saw Friedes genuin smile while laughing like crazy he couldn't help himslef but join, laughing away all their worries. A few minutes passed and they now were sitting on the floor, right next to each other, tummies still hurting from their laughing fit. "Guess we are both idiots!" the cook stated while beaming a smile at Friede who returned the favour agreeing with a cheerfull "Yeah!"
And without a warning Friede was leaning in for a passionate kiss, making the tall man shudder in surprise. As soon as their lips touched Murdock literally melted into this sensation. The cook gently layed his hands around the other mans arms to pull him even closer. Both of them let themselve fully taken in by this moment, there hearts are pounding in synch, hoping this pleasent feeling would never fade. They tried to delay the unavoideable, but unfortunatly they had to break the kiss at some point to breath again. Now staring into each others eyes with such warmth.
"Soooo we can either have some fun now or just cuddle all night." Friede now looked at Murdock with playful eyes and a cheeky smile. The cook just looked at him with wide eyes, cheeks still rosy. He tightened his grip a little, his eyes nervousely flickering back and forth from looking into Friedes eyes to staring into the void. Friede just amusingly watched his future husband getting all flustered, while waiting for an answer. "Wh-Why not both?" the cook finally managed to declare, taking the professor by surprise, not that he is complaining though. He kinda was hoping for that outcome, because he wants both of them to enjoy this night to the fullest. "Never thought you can get greedy." the smaller man sassily returned, while purposly coming closer to Murdock's face who then started to pout a little "So what if I'm a little greedy?" the chef playfully growled back. "Nothing wrong with that." Friede assured while trying to kiss Murdock again. The emphasis is on 'trying' because his attempt got stopped by a big hand gently pressing against his lips. "W-Wait! N-not here!! Besides I need to clean the kitchen first and..." the cook got cut off mid-sentence by Friedes lips sealing his once again. It was only a short lived kiss this time meant to stop Murdock from blabbering nonsens. Friede now was looking into Murdocks eyes dead serious. "As if I would let you do the chores right now, the dishes won't run away, I gonna deal with them tomorrow." the yellow-eyed man explained. "But...!" Murdock tried to argue, but this time it was Friede pressing his hand against the cooks lips. "No buts! I already let the others know so don't worry!" the professor replied with a snippish grin while holding up his phone to show Murdock that he in fact send a message.
»Just put your dishes in the kitchen later. I'll deal with them tomorrow. I have to take care of Murdock tonight <3«
"T-Taking ca-care of me?" Murdocks cheeks turned into an even more intense pink admitting his defeat "G-Guess I have no choice then!" he stutterd softly. Pleased to hear that, Friede then purposely placed his hand on Murdocks crotch, making the cook jump at the sudden touch. His whole head turned into a bright red now and before the professor could make his next move he got lifted up by Murdock, bridal style. The cook now was dashing into his room, while gently carrying the smaller man in his arms, locking the door behind him before he allowed himself to be all over Friede.
At the same time in the kitchen:
"Guess we better sleep with our ear plugs in tonight." Mollie said after she read Friede's message while looking at Orla, who visibly was relieved about this outcome. With their minds at peace the two woman continued eating. Ludlow did join them as well now and was seemingly happy.
The next morning:
Friede and Murdock layed in bed cuddeling together. The smaller man was resting his head againsts the cooks chest, while the taller man wrapped his arms around him. Both were snoozing softly, enjoying this harmonic atmospehere until Murdocks alarm rang. The chef turned it off as fast as he could so Friede not gonna get waken up from it. He had to blink his eyes open several times before his vision was clear and he could see Friedes peaceful face, thankfully still sleeping. The cook decided it won't hurt to stay in bed for five more minutes, before he cautiously climbed out to not wake up the other man. He didn't want too, but he needed to leave soon so he had to dress up and get ready. When he came back from the bathroom he found Friede right were he left him and couldn't hold back a smile. He looked cute when he was peacefully sleeping. Murdock than hastly pulled out his phone to snap a shot he can look at whenever he misses Friede. Not that he already has a full album full of that. Happy with the result he now was thinking about waking the professor up to properly say goodbye for now. But wouldn't that be selfish? To tear him from his sleep just to catch another kiss? As Murdock was mostly silently debating with himself to either wake up the other man or not he suddenly got hugged from behind. The smaller man tightly wrapped his arms around him. "Good morning!" Friede muttered while letting out a big yawn. "G-Good Morning Friede. Did I wake you up?" the cook replied. "Nah I was already awake before you climed out of bed, but I wanted to let you get ready in peace." The white-haired man explained while he released the hug trying to catch a glimpse of Murdock's cell phone "Sooo did you get a nice shot?" Friede asked with a cheeky voice resulting in a high pitched scream leaving the cooks mouth, while the latter tried to hide his phone. But that just made Friede even more curious, now wearing a big grin on his face "I know you made a photo of me while I was supposetly asleep." Murdock was now trying to hide his blushing face behind his phone. "M-Ma-Maybe!" he managed to stutter out. "Good thing I also got a cute shot from you." the smaller man joyfully chirped. A small chuckle left the professors mouth when he saw the chef getting all flustered. Friede then took his chance to pull his boyfriend into a kiss, which immediately made the bigger man calmer. Both closed their eyes and enjoyed this delicate moment. Taking in every second, burning this feeling into their brains. They whined a little when they had to part, but they knew it was now time for Murdock to go. " Don't overwork yourself okay?" Friede wanted to make sure and with a "Don't be too reckless okay?" and a warm smile Murdock then left for his new temporary job.

Your mother had made a suggestion during dinner for you to get out more, have a sport or a club activity to join so you weren’t inside so much. She expressed concern, stating how others will view you if you’re not active in your community. You brought a few ideas to her attention, all were shut down except two—figure skating and debate club.
It wasn’t any surprise that they were chosen seeing as that’s what your mother had done when she was your age, pictures sitting around the house of her standing proud with an award in her hands.
Originally figure skating wasn’t what you wanted to do, but after your first lesson it grew on you already. You looked forward to each lesson, enjoying the conversations you had with the others present in the class.
A few months had passed since, and your mother had begun to attend your lessons, sitting on the stands. Originally you had walked up to her with a smile, asking her what she thought of your friends and what you’ve learned, but she was cold. Her answers were curt, short, telling you that you were doing fine.
You were six at the time. At age twelve she began to control you. Her rampant started with her dislike of your friends, a hand wrapped around your arm to keep you by her whenever you wanted to say hi. She kept you away, saying they aren’t worth your time. You didn’t feel it was right, but you didn’t want to upset her so you agreed, removing yourself from getting to know the others anymore. The realization of her demands didn’t affect you until a few days later when you sat alone in your room.
At age thirteen she had enough. She removed your classed, deciding that from now she’d teach you seeing as she used to skate. She almost made it to the Olympics, but her last performance held her back since she failed half off the spins.
You felt you were always in the rink. After school you were driven to practice. On the weekends you were woken up at 5AM for practice by your flicking your lights on. It was tiring, but fun. You looked forward to spending time with your mother and getting on the ice to learn a new trick. If you did well, she’d buy you something new like a new skate bag. She didn’t make a huge fuss about what you did, eyes looking away from you if you fell or talked back. You thought she was proud, unaware of the frustration growing inside her.
The older you got the stricter she got. By the time you were eighteen, you would be standing in the showers with tears in your eyes. Her bitter words stayed with you, affecting your life and eating away at you. You’d begun to wear modest clothes, scared that someone would view you the way your mom did.
When competitions neared is when your mom’s ugly side reared its head. She didn’t say anything if you won, but it was miles better than when you lost. Your hands would shake when you packed your bags, her presence hovering. The car rides were filled with the sound of her hushed yells, not wanting to make a scene for the cars surrounding hers. You’d be leaning as far away as you could, head resting on the window. You would cry from her words, each one putting walls around your heart until you’ve built one tall enough to tune her out.
Her words meant nothing to you anymore, not much did. You’d step onto the ice and practice and brush past her when the lesson ended. If she got mad at you, grabbing your arm before you left to rink so she could whisper yell into your ear—you’d shrug it off.
The relationship between you was strained, and yet you couldn’t hate her. You tried to find the good within her, seeking out pieces of her heart that would explain her actions. Your brother had no idea, off and gone to college he was gone from the house.
The phone would ring once a week as he checked in on you, understanding how your mom can get at times. Each time you brushed it off, saying you only have a year left before you can leave home.
That year got cut short.
Nationals came up. Everyone in the states showed up, stands full with people excited to see the next top skater. Your mother had been quiet, a soundless woman who moved around without sparing you a glance. The dress she got you was too small, itching at your body in specific areas where the stitching was done wrong. The outfits were made by your grandmother and given to your mom before she had passed. You understood it was special to your mom, but you wish you could take it off. At times it felt like a costume, like you were a spectacle for your mom to see herself in you.
The routine was done to swan lake. Your movements and outfit fit the theme, correlating and helping paint a picture for the audience. You had stepped onto the ice, breathing deep once you’ve found yourself in the middle and settled yourself into position.
Halfway through was a triple axel your mother has been pushing you to land. You had, but only four out of the hundreds of times you tried. She pushed you to, saying that you had to, that you needed to get through to the Olympic team.
You twisted your ankle to jump into the turn and found yourself crashing, sliding with speed until you hit the wall. Your mother’s voice carried over the silenced rink, echoing her screams telling you to get up. You couldn’t move, let alone get up. The wind had been pushed out from your lungs, escaping you in second leaving you heaving on the cold ground, the ice wetting your back.
Shadows were on top of you, hands beginning to take you off of the ice. Questions were thrown your way, asking how you felt and if you could stand. They helped you up but after one step with your left foot, you crumbled with a sob. The medics changed their grasp on you, easing up to stop the pain jolting up your leg with each movement.
You were taken to the hospital, your mother sitting in the ambulance car beside you. There was a bit of hope in you then, maybe she would care that her daughter had gotten hurt. But her eyes were dull, and her face was turned away. You should’ve known not to expect comfort from her.
They set you on a wheelchair, the chair jerking as they turn the corners until you’ve reached a room. You’re about to fall over, gripping the bars of the wheelchair in desperation. Turns out you needed immediate surgery, the nurses bringing you to another room for the surgeon to begin the process.
You wish you didn’t wake up after, that the sedative didn’t wear off until later. Waking up, you felt worse than before, head and body aching. Bruises lined your legs, arms, confusing you when you see them. You had rubbed them, thinking it was some sort of dye but no, the skin was tender.
The nurses explained the situation once they’ve noted you had woken up. Your mom had an episode, and you come to realize the marks are from her doing. You didn’t call off, or somehow hit your leg when they wheeled you back from surgery. Your mother didn’t let go of you even after the nurses tried to pry her off, she her pulled your body onto the ground. Tears were on her face as she yelled, spewing nothing but words full of hatred. The summary of her hatred speech was that she kept on saying how much you were a mistake.
This was when your brother took care of you, seeing as your mother got arrested. He had to graduate college early, settling for an associates and rushing to find a job to take care of the both of you. Him and his girlfriend watched over you once you got released from the hospital, checking in on you often but you were often a blank slate.
It was difficult to get anything from you, but they respected your space. Your brother might not of been present but he felt the situation had happened with how somber you were.
Healing physically took a few months, but healing mentally has taken years. You couldn’t look at anything she had, fearing it would make you remember her presence. You wanted to forget about her, go about as normal but it was difficult to do so. Your brother meant well, trying to assist you with finding a job. He did networking, telling this he worked with that you were looking for a job until he got a few offers. When the hospital cleared you of your crutches, you were able to begin working.
Years passed by. Your brother got married, even had a kid on the way. With time came space. You don’t feel like you’ve healed from the past, the crook in your foot being a constant reminder—but you feel separated. You’re reminded of her, sometimes your emotions would escalate, sometimes the emotions would result in you trying to skate, trying to act like your past didn’t happen.
There was one night where you pushed yourself too hard, attempting to spin and landing on your knees. You nearly avoided landing on your leg, just close to loosing the privilege of being able to run, swim, or skate. Your brother was aware, seeing how you’ve begun to limp again in the mornings.
He was there for you, standing near whenever he sensed you’ve begun to separate yourself. His wife did as well, laying a hand on your lap in comfort. Tyler did too after having witnessing a moment. He was only six, tears in his eyes as he watched you cry over a toy he brought you. He didn’t understand much, but he hugged you. As he’s grown older, he still doesn’t know the full extent of your trauma, but he worries over you, asking often whenever he notices your eyes have begun to cloud.
Wanda does too. Even now as she’s listening to your story, body laid under you as she rubs your body in comfort. You felt comfortable enough to share, feeling asked to almost as you’ve grown closer with her. It’s the first time you’ve ever told the story to someone other than your family. She has tears in her eyes once you’ve finished, turning to look back at her after hearing her let out a shaky sigh.
She pulled you back against her chest, “I’ll never forgive her,” she says into your neck, arms wrapping around your waist.
“Sorry about that… I gave such a long story.”
“Don’t apologize. I asked and wanted to hear. I’m sorry you went through that, nobody should.”
“What about you,” you ask and she sounds confused, “your story. How’d you get into hockey?”
“It’s not like your story.”
She had gotten into hockey later in high school, doing so apparently to enamor and win over some girl from her school. She succeeded, handing her a flower after her game, asking her to prom. She remembers the time in a positive light, stating that ithe first few dates were eye opening for her.
The girl had cheated after a few months of them dating, not saying anything to Wanda after she had walked in on her lying under a stranger. To get back at her she began to sleep around, earning her a title that she would have never wanted a few years back. She fell into her title, stating that she would sleep with someone and leave them right after. Love confessions were denied, invitations to dates went ignored. Her bed sheets often didn’t smell like her, random strangers lying slept in it more than she did.
You laughed when she said that she didn’t stop her phase until she had met you. She had her eyes set on another woman at the time. It changed after meeting you. The title she had following her around? She wanted it to disappear, she wanted to start over.
You laughed but there were tears in your eyes at her confession, “you’re a sap.”
“Hmm, only for you.”
“Why did you continue hockey after breaking up?”
She looks to her jersey hanging on the back of her door, “I joined to impress her but I stayed because I liked the sport and I made friends on the team.
It was silent for a second before she spoke again, “it also gave me a reason to leave class when we had games or if I got hurt.”
“How’d you get hurt?”
“I broke my nose, got into a fight with another player after I realized they were the one my ex cheated on me with.”
“That’s hot.”

Chapter 28 - ‘You’re Mine’
Dianne and you sat in her kitchen while she explained something she had seen on Instagram the other day. You smiled and nodded. All the time that you spent with Dianne made you miss your own mum a lot. You'd always end up calling her after you left her house on your way back home.
“When does he come back?” Your mum’s voice echoed through the car's speaker as you drove to your house. Your eyes fixed on the road as you rounded a windy corner before your neighborhood.
“Thursday, so that’ll be nice to have him home.” You cooed dreaming of Trent’s return. He was coming back from preseason in the next few days and you had found yourself glued to the rest of his family, missing him just wanting to be around the familiarity. Being in your house without him always was a little lonely so being at Dianne’s was nice to hear the accents, see photos of him as a little boy, have their dogs be with yours, eat dinners with family, those types of things. It also made Trent feel better you weren’t by yourself and happy that you got along with them so well.
“Have you spoken to your dad? He’s trying to plan a trip over but didn’t want to bother you.” You mum spoke cautiously. Her hesitancy baffled you. What did she mean spoken to dad? You always talked to him.
“He doesn’t bother me ever?” You said confused and a little saddened by the statement. Sometimes being away from your family hurt your heart. You couldn’t always feel the emotion the same or understand the sentiment of words over texts and calls. It upset you that the distance could possibly strain your relationships. You tried to visit one another as often as you could but it wasn’t all that frequent.
“Just give him a call. I don’t think he wanted you to feel like you needed to involve Trent.” You started to laugh at your mum's discretion. It was so ridiculous but then again sometimes you forgot you lived with Trent, the person when a lot of people, even those closest to you, would always see him as Trent, the footballer. You ended the call with her before pulling in your drive. You scrolled on your phone multitasking as you trotted back into your house seeing a video Liverpool had posted on instagram of your pretty footballer. Okay, to be fair, sometimes you had a hard time remembering he was even a real person, he was so gorgeous. A video of him in training dripping, glistening in sweat under the sun had you feeling the heat in a different type of way. You cheekily reshared the post to your Instagram story with a text overlay ‘girl dinner 🤤’ Almost immediately responses to your story flooded in, screenshots reshared of the post.
‘Literally is one of us’
‘No, girl cause same 😭’
‘The fact that even she feels this way about him’
‘Girl dinner fr’
‘Don’t be shy, share some more pics of your dinner at home’
The comments made you laugh and simultaneously miss him just a little bit more. As Thursday night rolled around you were dozing in and out of sleep tucked in your big bed anxiously awaiting your man. Pillows tossed around cuddled up in a t-shirt of his that had scrunched up putting your whole body on display. Your legs tangled in the blankets. You laid holding your phone over your face as the blue light illuminated your features. You scrolled and scrolled on TikTok until you got the ad to take a break. You ignored it and continued in your doom until a faint smile appeared on your face. Your cheeks warmed as a familiar face showed on the screen again. A deep dimple dug into his cheek while he flashed a big childish grin. The man you loved was laughing in a promotional video for the club with Andy. You’d never felt more envious of his teammates. To be in the same room as that laugh. The warm echo coming from your phone made your heartbeat a little harder, ache a little more, yearn terribly for him. You shamelessly clicked on the hashtag of his name and combed through edits of him. You must’ve watched one particular sexy yet cute video of him on loop for 15 minutes plus. You shut your eyes just trying to remember the way his brown ones glimmered in the video. That was maybe a benefit of Trent’s fame, you got to watch edits of him. It was a little treat to always be able to see him. Sure, everyone else got to share the view but it made you giddy knowing the boy in that video was going to be coming home just to you soon. You tossed and turned anxious for Trent to return. He said he was coming home tonight but you didn’t press for the exact time so when you crawled into bed around 23:00 you were desperate for him to be there next to you but as your eyes got heavier and heavier your body’s need for sleep overtook your desire to be awake for when he arrived. You hugged his pillow that his scent had faded from. It wasn’t like he left you, you just missed him and that you did an awful lot. You missed him so much. You fell asleep on your stomach, your knee raised and pulled up to your side, your arms still hugging his pillow. You were out cold fast asleep when the door to your room opened quietly. A little stream of light seeped into your room and cast over your frame. You didn’t budge but when you felt the most perfect pair of lips in the world press onto your smooth hot skin you shivered. Trent nudged his nose against your back. Pressing his cheek against you. Nuzzling his face into you. He hummed, running his cool hands over you. Pressing kisses all over your back as he pushed your shirt up further leaving your skin glistening with his spit. Your whole body lit up tingling under him.
“I’m home, baby.” He whispered behind your ear with another sensual kiss. The words ignited a fire inside you. You didn’t know if waking up to his touch was going to make you cry or orgasm. Jesus, his hands felt good. You hummed as his whole body pressed into yours including his hardening cock. “Missed you so much, beautiful.” He kept kissing your bare back. It was a thing you’d kind of landed on by accident but when Trent came home you wanted him to fuck you right away, to wake you up even if you were asleep. That’s just how bad you missed him. Of course, if you didn’t want to you could say so but that was few and far between.
“T…” you whined attempting to turn but his body weight on you wouldn’t let you. You reached behind you gripping his shirt tight in your fist. “Baby” you gasped out. You felt the most blissful form of helplessness underneath his heavy weight. The surge of warmth from his body radiated against you. He leaned away from you for a moment to pull his shirt over his head. His chest came pressing against your bare skin under the blankets.
“C’mere.” He whispered pulling you impossibly closer to him. You moaned and arched your spine. Your ass pressing into him, his hands sliding under you to cup your boobs. “Your T’s back, yeah? Get this off for me.” He kept his lips so close to your skin. The warmth of his breathe on you as he spoke had you quivering, letting him manipulate your body to peel the t-shirt off you. You cocked your head to the side as he kissed the side of your lips moving into a messy desperate kiss. He kissed you softly at first and then gradually it intensified as you clung to him as your mind dizzied. He stayed laying directly on top of you pressing you into the mattress grinding his cock down on you. “Stay just like this f’me” he whispered again pulling your panties off. His hand slipped between the lips of your pussy. You were soaked just from the makeout alone. He teasingly played with your clit. He was rock hard as his tip nudged your wet pussy.
“T... please” you begged for him to be inside of you as pushed back into him. He lined his cock up with your entrance before rolling his hips to slowly slide himself in deeper and deeper. Letting out a quiet sleepy moan. “Such a good girl” he cooed. Trent began moving in and out, taking his time with you, letting you adjust to his size, his hands caressing your naked body. You bit the pillow case to try to muffle your moans. “Want to hear you, beautiful. Missed you so much” as he pulled your face gently off it tilting it to the side.
“I missed you so much, baby.” You whined feeling him hit deeper and deeper. Your arms clutched onto the sheets beneath you as your cheek pressed further into the bedding. You kept pushing your ass against him wanting more. The sound of your soaked pussy and his languid but hard thrusts filling the room.
“You’re so wet, baby. Who made you this wet? Huh?” Trent asked greedily, wanting to hear you say his name. As you softly cried out his name again and again his cock began to hit that one spot so deep inside you only he knew repeatedly.
“Holy sh-shit I’m gonna cum, baby. Please please let me cum.” You begged, feeling your orgasm rapidly approaching unable to slow it. He slipped his fingers nimbly under you and worked them in tight circles around your throbbing clit. “T.. fuck! Oh my god, oh my god.” You cried out as your high rippled through you. Your thighs quivering uncontrollably under his weight.
“Good girl. Doing so well, baby.” Trent said with a smile pulling across his face having to bite his lip just from the sight of seeing you cum underneath him as his cock continued to pump in and out of you. His fingers stayed playing with your clit for a little as you trembled, starting to overstimulate you. You whined as your heaving chest pressed further into the mattress.
“Baby, please cum inside me. I need you.” You moaned feeling the overstimulation turn into another bout of pleasure that was consuming all your thoughts, your brain turning to mush as he continued to fuck you. You needed him to fill you up. You loved Trent having control of you, letting him fuck you into the mattress like this.
“I got you, baby. Cum for me one more time. Cum with me, yeah?” He whispered in your ear. Your pussy dripped around him. You bit your lip, looking at him with desperate doe eyes. Trent could feel the veins running along his cock throbbing. He worked his hips faster, harsher. Both of your pleasure building higher and higher.
“T… oh my god, please fill me up.” You whined between ragged breaths from his thrusts. He grunted at the thought of you carrying his child. He bit down onto your shoulder, his pace growing sloppy.
“Fuck, I’m gonna cum. Be a good girl for me. Fuck!” Your muscles tensed and your eyes rolled into the back of your head before you felt his warm cum start to seep into you. Your own orgasm crashing over you. “Take all of my cum in this pussy, yeah baby?” He thrusted a few more times before he began to still while his pulsating cock still dribbled into you, your pussy fluttered as you panted beneath him. He softly stroked your hair and gently kissed your temple. “I love you, baby. Did so good f’me.” You smiled breathlessly as he began to coat your glistening frame with the same gentle kisses that started this. He kissed you in a way that you could feel just how much he adored you with each one. He loved you more than he could ever articulate with words but you could always feel it in the silences. He got off the bed and then cleaned you up before he tucked you neatly back in his arms.
“I’m so happy you’re home, baby.” You cooed quietly as your eyes fluttered closed. He held you close to his chest pressing kisses onto your hair.
“I’m happy I’m home too, beautiful. Love you so much.” He whispered as he could feel your breathing start to slow, your head heavier on him. “Get a good sleep, baby.” He whispered again with one final kiss before closing his eyes.
You rustled under the covers waking up to a pretty sleepy brown skinned boy on your chest. Your dainty manicured nails scratched at his scalp. He nuzzled further into you. You giggled a little at his clinginess and dragged your nail over his cheek bone down his jaw before you squeezed the muscle in between his neck and shoulder. You pressed your lips to his forehead, then slowly peeled them off his skin. His arms wrapped tighter around your waist as he pulled you closer to him. He started to place light kisses all over your bare stomach.
“Morning, pretty boy.” You whispered, returning your nails to gently scratch the back of his neck. He hummed. Trent’s eyes fluttered open and a sleepy smile pulled on his lips. He looked up at you with heavy eyelids.
“Missed you so much, sweetheart.” His morning voice was rough and the syllables dripped out of his mouth. Your cheeks brightened hearing and seeing him back in your bed. He sat up a little resting his body weight on his forearms next to your body. His chin coming to rest on your collarbone. He turned his head to the side to get a better look at the features of your face. A crease from your pillow indented into your smooth skin, your lips pout and puffy. His eyes squinted nuzzling his face into your neck placing a soft kiss against your skin pushing the warm metal of your necklace against you. He pulled away and smiled again. His fingers wrapped under the chain of your necklace gently and looked into your eyes “Did you know you’re the most beautiful girl in the world?” He cooed watching you go shy under his gaze.
“Stop…” you rolled your eyes embarrassed hearing his compliment leaning back onto your headboard. You sheepishly smiled before you kissed the top of his head coming to grab your phone from the nightstand. You looked at the time and sighed. You just showed the screen in silence to Trent letting him know you two had slept late into the morning, it really was almost the afternoon.
“Don’t care.” He murmured laying his body weight back on top of you as he started sucking on your skin leaving love bites working his way down your chest. You finagled your hands to reach under his arms. You pulled him up off you with a giggle and a shake of the head.
“We have to get up!” You yelped muddied in a laugh as he dramatically rolled off you groaning. He laid on his back staring at the ceiling in desperation.
“Babbbyyy…” he whined. “It’s been weeks, c’mon, please, I need you.” He begged despite having sex a few hours ago. You looked at him with raised eyebrows amused.
“It was your job not mine!” You teased with a smug grin playfully slapping at him. Him being away from you wasn’t exactly his fault but it wasn’t yours either. You sat up some more and started to get off the bed. Your legs dangled off the edge as you stretched looking around for the clothes he had peeled off you last night. Trent grabbed your phone off the bed to look at the time again and swiped up unlocking it. He navigated around to see what you’d been up to since he left. Making his way to your camera roll, he scrolled through your recent pictures.
“Didn’t send this to me…” he mumbled and huffed while he rolled his eyes looking at a mirror pic you took to send to Lauren of your outfit one day. You had asked if it was too slutty, she said no, you landed on yes so you changed hence why Trent wouldn’t have seen it. You just smiled at his feigned annoyance and stood up, walking away from him. He opened your TikTok that was still on the liked video edit of him. The smug look that came over this boy's face was ridiculous. He laughed to himself and rolled over on his stomach kicking his feet like a little girl giddy, pretty happy scrolling through comments.
‘Daddy’
‘He’s so fine’
‘Obsessed with him’
“What?” You asked him unaware as you listened to him giggle. You turned around to see his eyes practically closed; they were squinted so much from his big smile. He turned the phone around for you to see the video playing cutting to different angles of himself.
“What’s this? Hmm?” He laughed with a load of self satisfaction you couldn’t even make up. You walked over to him and snatched the phone clicking off the power button.
“Oh stop! Get over yourself!” You yelped, unable to hide your own laughter. “Also! It’s not like you’ve never watched an edit of yourself. You love it” you poked fun at him trying to deflect. “That’s embarrassing you watching that.” You teased.
“Nah, I’m not the one liking the videos thirsting over me.” He cooed standing up and walking towards you. You rolled your eyes still trying to tame the big smile on your face from being ‘caught.’
“Well they don’t make edits of me for you to like do they?” You rebutted as he got closer to you despite you trying to take steps further away with a childish grin.
“They should” he cooed, keeping his distance as he gave you a sly smile. You could feel the tension rise in the room. The air going thick.
“They should…” you giggled, sarcastically agreeing but flattered with his comment. Your cheeks burning, beginning to hurt from your smile. He always was quick with his words that managed to make your legs feel like jello in an instant.
“C’mere.” Trent lunged at you and you squealed as his big arms wrapped around you, swinging you around. He had you in his hold within milliseconds and you were unable to escape. “You fangirling over me? Hmm?” Trent teased biting on your neck playfully, still manhandling your body in his arms. “Tell me baby… do you have a little crush on me? Think I’m fit?” he laughed as you squirmed, particularly entertained with his findings.
“Yes, T, you’re very very pretty. We get it.” You giggled rolling your eyes ignoring his ego finally breaking out of his grasp. Truthfully, he let you go, he was much too strong for you to manage that on your own. After you ‘escaped’ from him he grabbed your waist quick to pull you back in for a real kiss. You spent the day together and you were just so happy to have him physically home instead of sitting on a FaceTime with him as you cooked your dinner alone. It was much better to feel his hands on you then have him tell you about them. The TikToks were great but the IRL version of Trent was just perfect.
The season had kicked off without a hitch and somehow it was already rapidly approaching the middle of it as you stood in your wardrobe eyes wide. Your summer of warm weather and talk about babies with Trent was long gone. You dragged your hand over the racks of clothing trying to figure out what to wear to Trent’s match tonight. Previously you had been thinking of all the ways you’d have to be hiding a bump at this point but that wasn’t the case. The tiny waist of your pants zipped up perfectly still. Due to the frequency of your appearances at games you felt like you were running out of outfit ideas. It was like doing a weird rubik's cube trying to find new possibilities and variations of match day looks. Trent wasn't around as much. He was heads down, focused, you understood that and you supported him best you could. What was unbelievable to you though was how despite living together in the same house there were weeks like this one where you barely saw him. Christmas was around the corner and you had decided to stay in Liverpool this year, mostly for Trent’s busy schedule but also because you had gone to the US last year. It stressed you out it was getting closer but for the moment your stress was funneled into trying to decide if you wanted to wear heels or sneakers. You ended up wearing a pair of jordans with a black bodysuit that hugged you tight and a pair of cargo pants. You paired a black Prada puffer coat and a Chanel flap bag with the fit. It was simple but sometimes it just felt better to play it low key. You weren’t having to hide a baby bump but you didn't mind hiding yourself all together from people potentially staring at you. Walking around in an Alexander-Arnold jersey at a match sometimes had the effect like wearing a target on your back.
You sat in the box nestled between Marcel and Dianne. It was cold and you could feel your nose run a little as rain poured down on the pitch. Dianne put her hand on your thigh and squeezed your leg as you all anxiously watched Trent walk over to take a corner kick. You followed his methodical movements. In a bizarre way he was incredibly graceful. For someone who was so rough and strong he seemed to move so smoothly and it always impressed you. It impressed you but it didn’t surprise you considering what he was like in bed and how his hands moved on you but you were trying not to let your thoughts go in that direction as you sat next to his mum watching him. You would never tell him how graceful you thought he was though because you’d likely never hear the end of a rant about his technique or the technical side of football, the beauty of the game, whatever it was… he would just end up yapping away. You’d save the comment for a time where he was wired and you were too tired to talk.
Another game and another assist came and went for Trent as you sat in the box listening to his brother talk to you similarly to how Trent would, overly animated, fast, eager to keep your attention. Time went by quickly with Marcel in your ear. You loved him like a brother and just the same he annoyed you like one too. Trent finally appeared in the box moving sluggishly in his tracksuit. You just wanted to run up and hug him, squish him, he looked so cozy. You restrained yourself and let him say hello to everyone; family, friends, niceties to people he didn’t know, making his way through the room. He spotted you waiting patiently leaning your head on Marcel’s shoulder. His face lit up. He winked at you before finishing a conversation he was currently in with a person from the club. When he finished he strided over to you with the same grace and swagger he carried on the pitch. He dapped up Marcel and then stared at you waiting for you to move. He licked his lips and flashed you a smile. You stood up and stepped into his warm embrace silently understanding what he wanted. You kissed under his chin as he squished you against his chest.
“Now thisss is who I’ve been waiting to see” he cooed, kissing the top of your head. Your heart warmed and faltered a little every time he was so open in front of other people about his feelings. “Ready to go home, pretty girl?” He cooed, releasing you from his tight hold but keeping you close to him, his hand lingering on your ass as you tried to subtly swat it away as you stood still talking with his family. You threw him a quick glare. He just looked at you with a big smile, unphased, not budging. He patted your ass cockily proving to you that he was going to do what he wanted when he wanted. He was in control of this relationship, at least physically… that is until you’d pout and cry and he’d cave in an instant. You both liked things that way.
The week rolled on and Trent was at an away game for the champions league versus Paris Saint Germain. You missed him just the same every time he left but it was every week and there was no use in dwelling when it was going to happen. You were on FaceTime with Trent yet again doing nothing but talking nonsense as you were in your bedroom trying on some clothes you had recently bought. You propped the phone up on the dresser for him to see both you and your reflection standing in the mirror.
“T... does this look nice?” You cooed, not looking at the phone. He smiled and chuckled before you changed your mind disregarding any answer he was going to give. You unzipped the little dress and it fell off you and pooled on the ground. Trent cleared his throat letting himself stare at your naked body. You pursed your lips looking dissatisfied with the turn out of your haul. You slipped back on the little thong you were in but had taken off for it not to show under the dress. Trent laughed some more as he felt his cheeks grow warmer. He shook his head in disbelief at your body as you innocently and naively walked back over to the phone turning him on an incredible amount by doing nothing but simply existing back at home.
“Beautiful, baby.” He watched your face light up at his compliment. You looked absolutely unreal as his eyes widened and he smirked. You stared at each other longingly, greedily missing each other but you jumped a little when suddenly your doorbell rang throughout the empty house. You flashed a look of confusion at Trent who heard the noise too. It was odd for someone to be coming to your door like this. If you did have a delivery coming, you always knew about it ahead of time so you looked at Trent again only for him to nod with a grin.
“Well go see…” he threw his head to the side gesturing to you to go open the door. He had a knowing look on your face you didn’t enjoy.
“T… what is this?” You hesitantly walked down the stairs. You cautiously approached your front door to see a delivery man patiently waiting. You put Trent down before opening it. You greeted the man and accepted the package. It was a pretty sizable brown unmarked box. Your brow furrowed as you took it inside. You picked your phone up back up off the console and placed it on the box as you carried both into the kitchen.
“What is it? Go on.” Trent's voice came from the phone reminding you he was there and when you looked down his mischievous smile stared to grow a bit bigger.
“I don’t like that you know what this is…” you paused. “You do know right?” You flashed your eyes at him for an answer. He nodded confirming he did. You mangled the tape off the exterior box unwinding excess packaging material galore before finding a big orange box. You just about felt your heart stop. “No… don’t do this.” You spoke in a shaky voice.
“You’re taking forever…” he whined. You rolled your eyes at his impatience. You opened the lid of the orange box and your jaw slacked. You took the heathered dust bag out of the box and immediately knew holding it.
“Shut the fuck up. Shut the fuck up” Your eyes started to welle. Trent tried to talk but you had no idea what he was saying in your state of surprise as you pulled the Hermes birkin 25 out. A hunk of leather had never felt more special in your hands. Your eyes blinked a few times in disbelief you were holding the bag.
“So…” Trent’s voice broke through your moment of utter shock. You shook your head trying to get back to the present moment. You pouted at him unsure what you ever did to deserve him and right now… a fucking birkin.
“Why did you do this, baby?” You cooed in a sappy tone. He just smiled.
“You haven’t read the card… baby, you are taking forever, seriously” He giggled as he watched you pick up the little piece of stationary.
‘Meet me in Paris xx’
“Are you serious?” You started to actually cry now. Tears rolled down your cheeks. One drop splattered onto the card diluting the blank ink of the card stock.
“Why are you crying? Just come meet me, yeah? What do you think?” He spoke a little bit softer seeing you get emotional. You sniffled and nodded your head. “Alright, good, baby. Can’t wait to see you.” Your conversation and stun continued through the night as he told you more legitimate details. Trent had got you a flight to meet him in Paris after his game to spend the night there with him. You eagerly packed absolutely delirious with excitement. You weren’t sure how to pack a birkin but you sure as hell would be finding a way to bring it with you.
There was a knock at your hotel door. You giddily jumped up from the bed and rushed over to look through the little peep hole. As expected, the beautiful boy you watched play a football match earlier this afternoon stood there. You opened the door slow with a sly smile as you leaned against the door frame before him in a slinky silk robe tied at your waist.
“Room service” He cooed cheekily and you just shook your head at his poor joke looking into his dark eyes but played along.
“Just what I ordered.” You giggled, dragging him into the room by his shirt. He stumbled following your harsh pull. He dropped a Louis Vuitton duffle bag on the floor. You heard it hit the carpet but you were totally transfixed on him, completely consumed. The way his hands felt gliding over the material of your robe covering your ass, pulling it up revealing some of your skin, sent a shiver run down your spine. “Do you have time for this?” You said quiet withholding your lips a short distance from his.
“Baby… I always have time for you.” He whispered before his lips pressed into yours. Your body electrified under his touch. You could feel something between you two was different in this hotel room. It was tense and exciting. Maybe it was the way his whisper had tickled your ear. The sensation eliciting something dangerously carnal within you. He untied your robe swiftly, slipping it off your shoulders with a ghosting touch.
His lips melted into yours. It was hot and heavy, like the kiss could bruise your lips. He breathed in your gasp as you felt his hard cock throb against you. The kiss was sloppy with teeth and spit, desperation kicking in after your time apart. You choked a little in the kiss surprised when he pushed you back to the bed. He was confusingly rough and gentle at the same time. His face came level with your core. He pulled your lace panties off slow but with vigor. His fingers made quick work between your wet folds before he spit onto your quivering pussy spreading it around your clit with his thumb. You whined as he moved kisses up your body while he slipped his fingers inside and continued to work them in and out of you. His free hand uncliped your bra.
“Take this off f’me, baby.” Your whines continued falling from your lips repeating his name in pleasure. The words were going straight to his cock that was becoming painfully hard. “I got you, cum f’me.” He whispered sucking on your neck. His fingers movements were harsh compared to his gentle words. You inhaled hard before you could even tell him you were cumming. You felt your walls pulsating around his fingers, your juices leaking down his hand some. He pulled them out slowly, both of his hands coming to knead your tits sensually as he pressed his covered hard cock onto you. You could feel the precum seeping through his thin boxers.
“Please fuck me, T. I need you inside me.” His cock twitched hearing your frenzied voice. You blinked up at Trent with doe eyed and slightly teary ones after your orgasm continued to linger. He slid off his boxers before pulling you into another steamy kiss. He rolled you over to be under you. Eagerly you began to grind your dripping pussy deliciously against his abs. The slick from you and the precum leaking from his tip smeared across your bodies.
“I need you right now.” He groaned out before pushing you back some as you lifted your hips for him. He lined his big cock up with your entrance and helped guide you down slowly. “Fuck, baby, so good” he choked out. He watched you sink down onto his length but your eyes were focused on the pleasure washing over his face. You nodded once he was all the way in for him to move. You bounced on top of him as he thrusted into you in perfect synchronized movements.
“I love you so much, baby.” You whimpered. The rhythm of your bodies was sublime. Trent's eyes glazed over seeing your tits bounce in front of him as you whined out. You hooked your arms around his neck as his big hands slid up your body coming to play with your hard nipples.
“I love you. Shit, I love you so much.” He moaned, feeling the warm pulsations as he eased in and out of you. The tender moment was juxtaposed with the filthy sounds of your bodies coming together. “My girl’s so beautiful, do you know that? Gonna get you pregnant. Gonna make you the most beautiful mummy.” He whispered, pulling you down into an intimate urgent kiss overcome with emotion. You nodded before moaning out something that had got you started on this journey in the first place.
“Uh huh, daddy” you smiled imagining making him one. It was a name you said earnestly but also a little teasingly, not hating the way you felt him fuck into you a little big harder when he heard it. His eyes shut tight as he rashly flipped you over again to be on top and began hammering into your g spot. Your back arched and your lips parted in loud cries.
“Say it again.” He grunted out. And so you did. Trent swore he could cum right there. He continued slamming into you as you wrapped your legs around him. “I love you, baby.” His words swallowed as you came in for another kiss.
“I love you.” As tears started to roll down your cheeks overwhelmed by pleasure and emotion. He continued with his harsh thrusts paired with the most gentle touches. Your body was being rocked against the mattress when he slipped his fingers into your mouth. Flustered by his pace you gaged around them, drooling, sucking desperately.
“I love you so fucking much. Such a good girl for me. Doing so good for me. Taking me so well.” He groaned watching you before he slid his fingers down to rub perfect circles on your clit.
“I’m cumming. Fuck! You feel so good. Ffuck.” You cried out as your lips parted again before his hips closed on yours again. You chanted his name overtaken by the pleasure consuming your whole body. Trent wanted to hear the sounds you were making forever on repeat. The knot in your stomach tightened before it snapped as more tears fell. You clenched tighter around his throbbing cock. He took his fingers off your clit to wipe away your tears sweetly then kissed onto your neck lovingly.
“Baby, I need to cum in this pretty pussy. Need to fill you up. Need you. Gonna.. shit! Gonna cum. Gonna get you pregnant.” He grunted out. His cock twitching deep inside you seconds before he came painting your insides, filling you up as promised. You continued moaning as you rode him through his orgasm. His movements stilled and he laid on top of you stuck to your body. He stayed inside for sometime before he pulled out. His fingers coming to gently push his leaking cum back inside you gently. You whined at the feeling. He came to lay next to you and pulled you onto him.
“Please love me forever.” You pathetically begged deliriously. Between the physical exhaustion and the mental reverie you were in you could barely stay awake. He held you close to him as your body relaxed against his.
“I’ll love you forever, Y/N.” He whispered with a smirk almost out of breath, panting, placing a kiss behind your ear. Trent stared at you falling asleep on him, your bare back, the dim light in the room illuminating your raised spine as his fingers traced down it. Your cheek squished by your own weight on one side of his chest…Your pale pink manicured hand sprayed across the other side. He stroked over your bare ring finger. He felt his heart beat a little faster. “Gonna give you everything you deserve, baby.” He whispered. Your eyes fluttering open again. You glanced up at him, gliding your hand on him down his soft skin. You had never felt more at peace or more in love with him. You laid tucked in Trent’s arms as your heartbeats synced. His hands caressing your skin with his big hands. He nestled his face in the nape of your neck.
“I really want this…” you cooed quiet. Your voice sounded perfect at that moment but his heart broke a little remembering sitting on the couch with you months ago after the doctor left. He knew immediately what you were talking about.
“C’mere” he turned you around to lay your back against his chest. His arms wrapped around your entire frame as he squeezed you tight. “We’re gonna make you a mummy, promise.” He spoke equally as quiet into the shell of your ear. His stubble against you made you shiver into him. Just hearing the word ‘mummy’ sent your emotions over the edge. Thank god he turned you to face the other way. Your eyes filled with tears although you didn’t make a sound. You wanted to be a mummy for him so bad. To give him what he wanted. You nuzzled your head back into the space between his shoulder and his neck. Your hands dragged over his arms across you before one reached behind you and glided over his cheek, the other squeezing his thigh beside you. You smiled unprompted imagining the chaos your house would unfold into with a baby involved. Pulling a little 66 jersey over a curly head of hair on match day. Cuddling on the couch with a third tiny human. Him in the back garden running about with a toddler and a ball. It all just worked. It made perfect sense in your mind that your perfect man would be the perfect dad.
“We'll do it, baby.” You giggled thinking about Trent as a dad.
“Yeah? Glad you’re on my team now. I know we will too.” He pecked your cheek. His hands spread over your stomach. “You want food, pretty girl? I’m starving.” Your mind went blank for a moment. You forgot you were in a hotel, you forgot you were in Paris for god sake. In the best way possible, Trent had the ability to steal you entirely from reality. Your world revolved around him and those glimmering eyes and that cheeky smile. You sat on his lap at a table in the room. Thinking about it as you sat unnecessarily on him you two probably were a little nauseating with affection but you just wanted to be closer to him. You both ate far too much food but to be fair you worked up quite an appetite.
“We’ll just take it in stride, alright? Try not to stress about this.” He cooed veering into a conversation about the logistics of your pregnancy situation. Trent didn’t want you to feel like the second he was off the pitch you had to fuck to get pregnant. He wanted you to want him to make love to you. To keep the emotions in the sex not fall into the monotony of the act. You appreciated that he cared and understood neither of you wanted it to ever become transactional. You fell to sleep after having the real room service, a shower, and another sleepier fuck, refusing to leave the room clinging to him and the moment alone you were finally getting to have after spending too much time apart lately.
You woke up in the morning cuddled so close to him you could barely breathe, the heat between you two was making you both slightly sticky and yet you loved every second of it. You sleepily kissed up his jawline and back down again. He grumbled still asleep. He looked like an angel. Trent couldn’t find the strength to wake up. He was absolutely gassed from his match and your night. He was glued to your body. The alarms of your phones were going off but both of you were just reveling in being in each other's company too much to even try to get up. You continually hit ‘snooze’ on your phones every time they rang out. He started to groggily wake and pulled you into a tight embrace. You cuddled in a more intentional manner than a sleepy one now. Nothing else mattered than you two in this bed. Trent didn’t feel like he had just played a match in one of the largest competitions in all of football. He felt like he was just yours right now and that’s all he wanted to be for the moment as he felt your heartbeat under your warm skin.
“I’m exhausted…” you cooed stroking over his hair. Leaning your head further onto him, plagued by sleep.
“Yeah? What’d you get up to last night?” He cheekily said with a shit eating grin. Trent’s tiredness slipped away for a moment as he fell into a smug laugh.
“Ha. Ha. Ha. You’re very funny, T, but yes I am exhausted from last night. I’m pretty sure I fell just a little more in love with you, think it took a lot out of me.” You pinched your thumb and pointer finger together showing a small amount of space as you giggled
“Aw baby, that was sweet. I probably did a little too if that’s even possible at this point but I was just thinking it was probably from how well I fucked you last night.” He chuckled to himself. You could feel his chest vibrate from the noise. Both of your faces pulled into big, big smiles. You tapped at his arm around you playfully.
“You're such a boy!” You squeaked. “That could’ve been a nice moment but nooo.” You giggled feigning an annoyance you didn’t feel. He squeezed you a little tighter before pressing a kiss onto your lips and giving you a half assed ‘I’m sorry’” you laid in the fluffy luxurious hotel bedding for what felt like ages just exchanging kisses and mushy feelings in between comfortable silences as he played with your fingers before finally speaking again.
“We have to get going, sweetheart.” He attempted to sit up some but you just clung to him tighter.
“Are you sure you couldn’t just transfer to PSG?” You teased getting more comfortable in the bed. “We could live right here. This could be our bed. We could learn French.” Your words were muddied in giggles from the silly joke you were making. As you spoke you just snuggled further into his embrace.
“Yeah… okay baby” he yessed your plan with a faint laugh. You obviously weren’t serious, he knew that, you just were so comfortable in the moment that you didn’t want to leave the cozy place you were currently in.
“I like it right here” you whined a little, throwing puppy eyes at him. You liked holding onto him. He was so sweet to even make last night possible you didn’t want to have to make the move to end it. You rubbed your hands over his warm skin. Your hands sliding up his neck before reaching his chin to scratch at his facial hair.
“I love you right here but I’ll love you just the same when we get back home, baby.” He kissed the top of your head before he hummed in contentment as your nails tickled him. You pouted about your stay coming to an end but also just how sweet he always was. You eventually peeled your magnetized bodies off one another’s and began to pack up and shower. Your body stuck to his again wet and you laughed trying to share one towel in order to stay closer drying each other off poorly. You detached less dry than you should’ve been by this point. “Just to really rub it in that we’re going home, Tyler said people are making a big deal out of my little detour after the match. Just a heads up.” Trent said coming up behind you giving you a quick kiss to your cheek.
“I’m sorry.” Your face dropped. You were in your own world inside that hotel room but outside, it was definitely still spinning in its usual order. “I don’t like when I’m the culprit of the media covering some sort of escapade of yours.” You said guilty, moving back into the main room to get dressed.
“Well, I, in fact, do like when you are.” He kissed your lips. “The only things I want happening in my life are the ones with you.” You smiled faintly but you didn’t say much of anything else as you helped fold and fill his duffle bag. You got to run out around the city briefly grabbing macaroons you liked and hitting a few stores before you had to head to the airport but it was an incredibly quick turn around.
You boarded the plane back to England, a short flight nestled in his arms. You both were in sweat sets, yours from Sporty & Rich, his from Aime Leon Dore. With his hood up, Trent rested his head against the window while you laid on him. For a fast flight you were incredibly comfortable. It was going to be the last fleeting moment together before Trent and by proxy, you, returned to regularly scheduled programming of matches and mayhem.
As anticipated and warned by Tyler, your moment alone shattered the second camera’s flashes filled your line of sight. You blinked your eyes trying to adjust to the lights. Trent held your hand tighter as he walked through airport arrivals. Security followed next to you. This would never be normal. As the chaos rushed around you with inquiries about Trent’s commitment to the team for ‘taking a day off’ which by the way… was approved by the club, just saying! You squeezed his hand more. Despite feeling more than uneasy he had a way of stilling the madness with a simple glance to you.
“Okay, baby?” He whispered. You nodded with a faux smile. Security opened the door to the car waiting for you. Trent stayed at the car door with them holding it open and helping you in. Your hand grazed his waist as a silent thank you before you slid in. He quickly followed you into the blacked out vehicle. Even after the door shut and it was quiet the noise of the shutters still rang in your ears. While you were hounded as people scolded Trent’s travels, you never felt more secure in his arms tucked into the backseat.
You drove off from the airport towards home and you watched the landscape blur out the car window on the motorway. You laid back into him, your legs stretched across the seat, feet up, and your head thrown to the side against his chest as his hands aimlessly grazed over you. Trent’s hand moved to grip your leg right above your knee. He squeezed it teasingly. You looked up at him and the honey hue of his eyes reflecting the sun filled your stomach with butterflies and a sliver of hope.
“I have a good feeling about next year” he winked looking at you with a sincerity no one could ever make you believe other than him.

'Hail, True Body': A Series Summary
Here is an overview of my now original religious horror series, 'Hail, True Body'.
'Hail, True Body' is a religious horror series that focuses on what it means to be human in a world that God has abandoned. For Mark Owens, 1993 is shaping up to be the worst year of his young life - and that's saying a lot all things considered. When his best friend Cesar Hernández calls him one night in October, Mark ignores the broadcast warnings to help him out. But Cesar is acting... strange.
Though perhaps that's understandable. His mother did just die, after all.
Being human is a terrible weight, but sometimes you find others to share the burden with.
-
The Series:
All Parts of Hail, True Body are posted in the order they should be read in. Some Parts are multi-chapter stories, whereas others are just oneshots. Here are links to the Parts posted so far. A new Part begins only when the previous one comes to an end. Alongside the following links, I've included the length of the part and an overview without too many spoilers.
PART 1: Mimicry Length: 6/6 chapters (39,487 words) completed Overview: When an unfathomable being awakens from a void to complete its one and only task, it finds itself enamoured with the very thing it's supposed to destroy. (An eldritch beast tries a little too hard to be human. It goes about as well as you'd expect.)
PART 2: Where Is Your God Now? Length: Oneshot (2,272 words) completed Overview: Following the immediate aftermath of Part 1, Mark Owens spirals into a crisis of faith unlike any he's experienced so far. Cesar is dead, and in what kind of a world is that fair? Unsure of what to do or where to turn with the blood on his hands, he picks up the phone and asks for help from the one person who's been there since everything in his life started to go wrong.
PART 3: Old Rugged Cross Length: 5/5 chapters (22,580 words) complete Overview: Mark Owens has always been dogged by despair, ever since he was a child. October 1993 isn't the first time he's dealt with a monster. For him it begins in 1979. It begins with an imaginary friend.
PART 4: What's In A Name? (COMING SOON) Length: Oneshot (wordcount tbc) Overview: Sometime following the events of Part 1, a mimic formerly known as Cesar Hernández wakes up in the nothingness it originally came from. Confused and lost in a jumble of memories that are both its own and not at all, it clings to the one thing it can remember: a boy with sad brown eyes and a crucifix.
PART 5: The Good Samaritan (UPCOMING) Length: 0/13 chapters (wordcount tbc) Overview: Amidst the loss and confusion of recent events, Mark Owens falls into a crisis of faith like never before. It certainly doesn't help that God is silent despite his cries, pushing him ever further onto a path of revenge. Cian Daniels is trying his best to keep Patmos County as safe as he can whilst meeting Mark halfway, before that kid can get himself killed.
PART 6: An Eye For An Eye (TBA) Length: (tbc) Overview: (tbc)
Please be sure to read the content warnings in the author's notes!

Maybe I'll make a post on this at some point but like, something deeply fucked up about TNP and Po3 that people have totally forgotten about is how badly they try to whine that "Tigerstar Had Good Traits :("
Firestar does it, Brambleclaw does it, and they keep doing this after it becomes this GRAND irony that Firestar almost gets Tiger'd to death in a fox trap because he was too trusting. Bramble gets his pity award of keeping deputyship and then cries to his son about how No One Saw The Good In Tigerstar :(
And it's wiiiiild that no one else in this fandom has done anything with the fact that Leopardstar broke the Warrior Code to appoint Hawkfrost, who had no apprentice, an extremely aggressive and warmongering Tigerclone who says things like "Tigerstar wasn't the worst cat to look up to." ONLY qualifying trait was being kinda like Tigerstar.
And she practically did that the SECOND Mistyfoot went missing. And then Leopardstar continued to be one of the most violent and xenophobic leaders through Po3, joining with WindClan to attack ThunderClan.
What I'm getting at is that like, a few years ago, with books like "Blackfoot's Reckoning" and "Shadow in RiverClan" it's like they suddenly decided to retcon in a bunch of "redemption arcs" in hindsight. They just pretended like there was this grand high reckoning with TigerClan, when there literally wasn't, and if anything that caused SERIOUS problems for the cast that the authors didn't fully acknowledge as such.
And now ppl haven't actually read the main series and are just working with their recent memory of all these retcon books.
But TNP and PO3 are still there, and you can go and see the ACTUAL timeline where Leopardstar is really not apologetic at all, and Blackstar is a useful stooge for the very next wannabe dictator that strolls in, in spite of the new side content that COMPLETELY mischaracterized them for their plots to work.
